A cultured society that has fallen away from its religious traditions expects more from art than the aesthetic consciousness and the 'standpoint of art' can deliver. The Romantic desire for a new mythology ... gives the artist and his task in the world the consciousness of a new consecration. He is something like a 'secular saviour' for his creations are expected to achieve on a small scale the propitiation of disaster for which an unsaved world hopes. ~ Hans-Georg Gadamer
Romantic Desire quotes by Hans-Georg Gadamer
I'm counting my drawer when Regn comes into the office. I hear her before she enters. I listen for her. The sound of the keypad, the sound of three doors. I saw her pull up on my way in. The anticipation is what I love. The details. The security of knowing she's arrived and will be here for the day. Even if we don't have the leisure of time, we have time. It is the unspoken acknowledgments to self. The constant checking and watching for expressions, inflections in the voice, mannerisms. It is a gradual advance. The more we are restrained, the stronger it grows. It is innocence and age that allows the affection to mature, naturally, as it should. Something inside stirs, the heart itself is attracted, much before the body responds. Knowing Regn looks forward to seeing me as much as I do her makes me happy. ~ Wheston Chancellor Grove
Romantic Desire quotes by Wheston Chancellor Grove
Before she can stop herself, she thinks about desire, how it lives within you and yet is separate, surfacing when it chooses, without permission, in the harsh afternoon light, at the moment when you least expect to find it. ~ Alice Hoffman
Romantic Desire quotes by Alice Hoffman
Because of all the kinds of love there are out there - romantic, passionate, parental, spousal, brotherly - the love that is touted as most unassailable, complicit, and colluding is the love between sisters. ~ Alexandra Fuller
Romantic Desire quotes by Alexandra Fuller

Romantic Desire quotes by Albert Camus

Romantic Desire quotes by Ken Follett
The most important part of our lives-our sensations, emotions, desires, and aspirations-takes place in a universe of illusions which science can attenuate or destroy, but which it is powerless to enrich. ~ Joseph Wood Krutch
Romantic Desire quotes by Joseph Wood Krutch
Anyone, then, who desires to live chastely in Christ Jesus, must flee not only the mouse of lust, but even from its very scent. ~ Anthony Of Padua
Romantic Desire quotes by Anthony Of Padua
Happiness is a state of non-contradictory joy
a joy without penalty or guilt, a joy that does not clash with any of your values and does not work for your own destruction, not the joy of escaping from your mind, but of using your mind's fullest power, not the joy of faking reality, but of achieving values that are real, not the joy of a drunkard, but of a producer. ~ Ayn Rand
Romantic Desire quotes by Ayn Rand
I have no desire to coach basketball. ~ Kevin Johnson
Romantic Desire quotes by Kevin Johnson
They also observed that the amygdala in the vaccinated monkeys didn't mature with time as it was supposed to. The amygdala, incidentally, plays an important role in social interactions. Maybe it's not so surprising they also observed that in the vaccinated monkeys the opioid antagonist diprenorphine (DPN) levels never lowered throughout the study. In the placebo group, the DPN levels decreased noticeably. One function of DPN is to block social interaction. What this means is the research showed that the social behavior of those monkeys that received the actual vaccines, where the DPN levels did not decrease, turned anti-social. We found there was at least one more study undertaken to verify the association between DPN and social behavior. Performed in 1981[141]. The authors of that study believe the release of opioids in the brain encourages social interactions. So, when the body fails to decrease the amount of the antagonist DPN, it not only blocks the opioids that encourage social interactions, but it blocks the desire to socially interact. ~ James Morcan
Romantic Desire quotes by James Morcan
Emma Garcia gripped the steering wheel of the stolen pick-up truck she wished she wasn't driving. In the entirety of her twenty-six years, she hadn't taken as much as a piece of gum without paying for it, until today… ~ Katie Reus
Romantic Desire quotes by Katie Reus
But if I am to speak in earnest, what I desire above all in a wife is firmness of character - a woman who knows her own mind." --Captain Frederick Wentworth ~ Jane Austen
Romantic Desire quotes by Jane Austen
The Truth that sets you free is that you can experience in imagination what you desire to experience in reality, and by maintaining this experience in imagination your desire will become an actuality. ~ Neville Goddard
Romantic Desire quotes by Neville Goddard
Every sunset which I witness inspires me with the desire to go to a west as distant and as fair as that into which the Sun goes down. He appears to migrate westward daily and tempt us to follow him. He is the Great Western Pioneer whom the nations follow. We dream all night of those mountain ridges in the horizon, though they may be of vapor only, which were last gilded by his rays. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Romantic Desire quotes by Henry David Thoreau
A government does not desire its powers to be strictly defined, but the subjects require the line to be drawn with increasing precision. ~ Lord Acton
Romantic Desire quotes by Lord Acton
She could have had an affair with him. He was a devout Muslim, as were all the guerrillas, but she doubted whether that would have made any difference. She believed what her father had used to say: "Religious conviction may thwart a timid desire but nothing can stand against genuine lust. ~ Ken Follett
Romantic Desire quotes by Ken Follett
It's the fun part 'cause you don't have any of the real heavy-lifting to do. You just come in and shout and chew scenery, and just be awful and say a few jokes, and you don't have to carry the romantic storyline or the quest part of the story. You just pop up, every now and again. ~ Justin Theroux
Romantic Desire quotes by Justin Theroux
Why do I prefer boys? Because of their shape and their voices and their smell and the way they move. And boys can be so romantic. I can put them into my myth and fall in love with them. ~ Christopher Isherwood
Romantic Desire quotes by Christopher Isherwood
His long fingers curled around the back of her lace thong, pulling the material taut against her wet fold. "I'm a big guy, and you know I always deliver. ~ Avery Flynn
Romantic Desire quotes by Avery Flynn
No one wore high heels anymore. They were in the same category as corsets –a torturous invention of the past that had served to make men desire women and caused women nothing but sore feet and broken ankles. ~ Elin Peer
Romantic Desire quotes by Elin Peer
Why, Elend! That's almost romantic - in a twisted 'I'm going to make my wife want to kill me' sort of way. ~ Brandon Sanderson
Romantic Desire quotes by Brandon Sanderson
The desire for self-expression afflicts people when they feel there is something of themselves which is not getting through to the outside world. ~ Fay Weldon
Romantic Desire quotes by Fay Weldon
One has to attain an ego-less state (nir-ahankari); attaining a nir-maani state (a desire-free state that wants importance from others) is not enough. The egoism one has of being nir-mani is very subtle. The external 'horns' are worn down but the internal ones still remain. The inner 'horns' will cause an internal biting. ~ Dada Bhagwan
Romantic Desire quotes by Dada Bhagwan

There were times when their eyes would meet, and they would stand gazing at each other as though neither could believe the reality of the other being so close to them. Romantic Desire quotes by Mindy Kaling
The earthly [city] has made for herself, according to her heart's desire, false gods out of any sources at all, even out of human beings, that she might adore them with sacrifices. The heavenly one, on the other hand, living like a wayfarer in this world, makes no false gods for herself. On the contrary, she herself is made by the true God that she may be herself a true sacrifice to Him. ~ Augustine Of Hippo
