In my view, it is inappropriate for us to refer to our confession as the Reformed Faith. The reformed churches did not (and do not) believe that they were confessing the Reformed Faith, but that they were confessing the "undoubted Christian Faith" in their confession and catechisms. There is a reason that this wing of the reformation called itself "Reformed." Unlike the Anabaptists, Reformed churches understood themselves as a continuing branch of the catholic church. At the same time, the Reformed wanted to reform everything "according to the Word of God." Not only our doctrine, but our worship and life must be determined by Scripture and not by human whim or creativity. ~ Michael S. Horton
Reformed Faith quotes by Michael S. Horton
Is the Reformed faith opposed to human rights? Yes, very much so. It is not human rights but Divine law which is the foundation of liberty and the safeguard against tyranny. It is not something proceeding from man (rights), but something proceeding from God (revealed law) which is to order Christian society. ~ James B. Jordan
Reformed Faith quotes by James B. Jordan
Tyranny flourishes in those societies that reject the Reformed Faith. Tyranny is squelched and liberty flourishes in those societies that embrace the Reformed Faith in all its fullness. ~ Joseph C. Morecraft III
Reformed Faith quotes by Joseph C. Morecraft III
Faith bears sweet fruit but with weak it stumbles in hard time. ~ Kishore Bansal
Reformed Faith quotes by Kishore Bansal
She felt abused, used, cherished, and pleasured.
She despised him. She loved him. She mistrusted him. She had complete faith in him. Ah! ~ Connie Brockway
Reformed Faith quotes by Connie Brockway
Just as He had been doing even before the moment I consciously embarked on this journey, He revealed to me that it was all about love. It always has been - before the foundations of the earth - and it always will be - throughout eternity. The answers I was seeking were found in love, the healing I desperately needed also found in love. The love I sought and so desperately wanted to give was enabled, empowered, and actualized by His divine love. So nothing remains but for me to LOVE as an expression of my appreciation for His love for me: L-live an O-openly V-virtuous E-existence. ~ Riisa Renee
Reformed Faith quotes by Riisa Renee
People have faith in 'faith' and largely forget that our confidence is not in the power of faith but in the Person and work of the Savior, Jesus Christ. ~ Aiden Wilson Tozer
Reformed Faith quotes by Aiden Wilson Tozer
The city had changed beyond recognition. Wrecking balls and bulldozers had leveled the old buildings to rubble. The dust of construction hung permanently over the streets. Gated mansions reached up to the northern foothills, while slums fanned out from the city's southern limits.
I feared an aged that had lost its heart, and I was terrified at the thought of so many useless hands. Our traditions were our pacifiers and we put ourselves to sleep with the lullaby of a once-great civilation and culture. Ours was the land of poetry flowers, and nightingales - and poets searching for rhymes in history's junkyards. The lottery was our faith and greed our fortune. Our intellectuals were sniffing cocaine and delivering lectures in the back rooms of dark cafés. We bought plastic roses and decorated our lawns and courtyards with plaster swans. We saw the future in neon lights. We had pizza shops, supermarkets, and bowling alleys. We had trafric jams, skyscrapers, and air thick with noise and pollution. We had illiterate villagers who came to the capital with scraps of paper in their hands, begging for someone to show them the way to this medical clinic or that government officee. the streets of Tehran were full of Mustangs and Chevys bought at three times the price they sold for back in America, and still our oil wasn't our own. Still our country wasn't our own. ~ Jasmin Darznik
Reformed Faith quotes by Jasmin Darznik
To rest one's case on faith means to concede that reason is on the side of one's enemies- that one has no rational arguments to offer. ~ Ayn Rand
Reformed Faith quotes by Ayn Rand
We ought to live the fullness of life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Reformed Faith quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
When others sit, a #StaticJedi is found standing - even standing along, with a message not in hand but secure in heart! ~ Eric Samuel Timm
Reformed Faith quotes by Eric Samuel Timm
Once you lost your faith, it was gone. ~ Tarryn Fisher
Reformed Faith quotes by Tarryn Fisher
Gratitude gives infinite fullness of life. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Reformed Faith quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
Is it not gain to have diminished the faith that it was the duty of the wretched and the miserable to be content with the lot in life which providence had awarded them? ~ Charles Bradlaugh
Reformed Faith quotes by Charles Bradlaugh
Like Christians, Soccerians argue that you should not judge the essence of their faith by the loopy activities of its followers. But the Beautiful Game is in fact quite the opposite. It is badly designed and riddled with flaws. ~ Craig Brown
Reformed Faith quotes by Craig Brown
No one, however weak, is denied a share in the victory of the cross. No one is beyond the help of the prayer of Christ. ~ Pope Leo I
Reformed Faith quotes by Pope Leo I
It was a common saying among the Christians in the primitive Church, "The soul and the body make a man; the spirit and discipline make a Christian;" implying, that none could be real Christians, without the help of Christian discipline. But if this be so, is it any wonder that we find so few Christians; for where is Christian discipline ~ John Wesley
Reformed Faith quotes by John Wesley
Rita folded her arms around herself and peered up at me. If you'd asked me
three months ago I'd have said you were hitting the bottle too hard. But then I
got stabbed and should have died, but instead a bunch of cops and ambulance
people showed up because somebody who wasn't even there sent them on ahead to save my life. If something like that happens to someone like me, you start to
have a little faith in something bigger. I don't know if I believe in magic or miracles all the time. But I believe in you, Detective Walker. I believe in you. ~ C.E. Murphy
Reformed Faith quotes by C.E. Murphy
I've known a lot of alleged failures in my time and many of them, in losing what the world has always considered success, have achieved in facing up to failure, more than they ever achieved when they were considered successful. ~ Faith Baldwin
Reformed Faith quotes by Faith Baldwin
Science, we are repeatedly told, is the most reliable form of knowledge about the world because it is based on testable hypotheses. Religion, by contrast, is based on faith. The term 'doubting Thomas' well illustrates the difference. ~ Paul Davies
Reformed Faith quotes by Paul Davies
I believe that this Republic will endure for many centuries. If so there will doubtless be among its Presidents Protestants and Catholics, and very probably at some time, Jews. I have consistently tried while President to act in relation to my fellow Americans of Catholic faith as I hope that any future President who happens to be Catholic will act towards his fellow Americans of Protestant faith. Had I followed any other course I should have felt that I was unfit to represent the American people. ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Reformed Faith quotes by Theodore Roosevelt
Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome. ~ Winston S. Churchill
Reformed Faith quotes by Winston S. Churchill
Humility - the discipline of putting others ahead of self, the choice to value others above self - is, at its core, a matter of faith. ~ Charles R. Swindoll
Reformed Faith quotes by Charles R. Swindoll
I am raising my children with the Christian faith and life lessons I was taught. I am equipping them with all of the information and guidance as a parent and hope they will make sound decisions. The most important thing is to teach kids to stand firm in what they believe and not be swayed by detractors no matter what the subject matter. ~ Gretchen Carlson
Reformed Faith quotes by Gretchen Carlson
The worst time in any writer's life is the two months before publication. ALL writers become mental and pathetic, even those of devout faith, who have some psychological healing to lean up against, and gorgeous lives. All writers think that this time, the jig is up, and they will be exposed as frauds. ~ Anne Lamott
Reformed Faith quotes by Anne Lamott
God's plans are far better than your's, so have faith in him. ~ Vasudha Uttam
Reformed Faith quotes by Vasudha Uttam
On the other hand, if God's moral judgement differs from ours so that our 'black' may be His 'white', we can mean nothing by calling Him good; for to say 'God is good', while asserting that His goodness is wholly other than ours, is really only to say 'God is we know not what'. And an utterly unknown quality in God cannot give us moral grounds for loving or obeying Him. If He is not (in our sense) 'good' we shall obey, if at all, only through fear - and should be equally ready to obey omnipotent Fiend. The doctrine of Total Depravity - when the consequence is drawn that, since we are totally depraved, our idea of good is worth simply nothing - may thus turn Christianity into a form of devil-worship.
- The Problem of Pain, pp. 28 - 29 ~ C.S. Lewis
Reformed Faith quotes by C.S. Lewis
Some say," Auntabelle said, "that it was because of the Roman's brutality and the Roman Emperors' cruelty, especially to the Christians, who were slaughtered in masses at this very place for the entertainment of the Roman citizens, that Rome fell." - Auntabelle, Amazon Lee and the Ancient Undead of Rome by Kira G. and Kailin Gow ~ Kailin Gow
Reformed Faith quotes by Kailin Gow
Sometimes a stronger, more realistic faith is birthed in the darkest of pits. ~ Jo Ann Fore
Reformed Faith quotes by Jo Ann Fore
Dogs ... do not ruin their sleep worrying about how to keep the objects they have, and to obtain the objects they have not. There is nothing of value they have to bequeath except their love and their faith. ~ Eugene O'Neill
Reformed Faith quotes by Eugene O'Neill
There's a right time for everything. Not all will come to you, because there's a solid plan. You just have to have faith, you have to believe that there's a greater plan for us, in case it doesn't pan out the way we thought it would. The only thing you can control is your attitude towards this things. You have to accept it and try to make the most of what is given to you. ~ Shamcey Supsup
Reformed Faith quotes by Shamcey Supsup
He took a step closer. "Think about it this way, Sidney. You have to walk down the aisle next to me
at this wedding. We'll be in numerous photos together - photos that the entire Sinclair family will
look at for years to come. If my job as a groomsman is to complement you, do you really want to put
your faith in whatever I might come up with?"
She considered this for a moment.
"Let me just grab my purse. ~ Julie James
Reformed Faith quotes by Julie James
It is better to seek light than to rest in darkness. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Reformed Faith quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
Scots people were vigorous industrialists and slum builders, but they never reconciled themselves spiritually to their own urban creations... It was better to help to keep alive the native faith and virtues and idyllic memories of the people than to remind them of the scorching fires of Moloch through which they were passing. ~ William Power
Reformed Faith quotes by William Power
If today shows no results, that doesn't mean the past wasn't working or the present isn't working. It just means we see only part of the picture. Faith believes God is working in every part of the process. ~ Deb Brammer
Reformed Faith quotes by Deb Brammer
I have been to so many funerals now. We bury them in the gray soil, stand over the mounds, lean on our shovels. Say the same words again and again. But there are pregnancies too, children coming. A woman like a great egg. Another just conceived. They help us dig, then turn and spit into the earth. They will not say it, but they cannot keep it all in either. For their coming children are their hopes embodied, their faith made flesh, that all that is ending is beginning again. For the world will not be fallen to their children. It will only be the world, new as they are. And perhaps if we tell them enough, if we say the right thing, they will see a way out, and know what to do. ~ Brian Francis Slattery
Reformed Faith quotes by Brian Francis Slattery
I do believe that there is a conflict between science and religion ... the spirit or attitude toward the facts is different in religion from what it is in science. The uncertainty that is necessary in order to appreciate nature is not easily correlated with the feeling of certainty in faith. ~ Richard P. Feynman
Reformed Faith quotes by Richard P. Feynman
People often speak of hell, not wanting to go there, avoiding it..etc. I never had that problem because hell is a state of mind. Look around you; rape, murder, wars, hatred, envy ... my friend; you're already there!! ~ Sandra Chami Kassis
