This fundraising is consuming us. It's impossible to overstate, I think, what it's doing to members and their ability to just focus on the job that they were elected to do. The collective concentration of the institution is being undermined every day by the need to fund-raise. ~ John Sarbanes
John Vaught quotes by John Sarbanes

Of all the weapons vital for a speedy victory, the most vital is information. ~ John Man
John Vaught quotes by John Man
I hate it when people say, I'm an artist. I think, well, I'll be the judge of that. And I don't think artist is a job description. It's a critique, a favorable critique, that someone else might apply to your work. I guess in the art world I'm not exactly a photographer, but I do use photography. ~ John Waters
John Vaught quotes by John Waters
Separation prevents the government from determining church policy, whether directly or indirectly. ~ John M Swomley

"Got to grow into her when you're a little kid,' Tom said. "It ain't jus' knowin'. It's more'n that. Kids now can tear down a car 'thout even thinkin' about it. ~ John Steinbeck

John Vaught quotes by John Waters
And then you've got a media ready to package that, because it takes away from the political content of them songs. Suddenly there's not a real serious social message, there's just a drug addict. I ~ John Lydon
John Vaught quotes by John Lydon
I have no issue with being a character actor. If you've been around enough that people are able to segregate you into that category, it means you're working. So that's good! ~ John C. McGinley
John Vaught quotes by John C. McGinley
Memories are just stories we tell ourselves about our past; and that's often why they don't match when we've shared the same experiences with someone. ~ John Slattery
John Vaught quotes by John Slattery
Although Travels with Charley is replete with whimsical vignettes, charming dialogue, and lyrical descriptions of the natural landscape that often rise to the level of poetry, there is beneath its surface a sense of disenchantment that turns, eventually, into barely suppressed anger. Steinbeck seems never quite able to bring himself to say that he was truly and often disgusted by what he saw on his journey, but the reader is left with that impression. One puts down this book aware of how remarkably prophetic it really was, and how America continues to wrestle with the problems raised in its pages. ~ John Steinbeck
John Vaught quotes by John Steinbeck
If then this tendency toward collectivization is a mutation there is no reason to suppose it is for the better. It is a rule in paleontology that ornamentation and complication precede extinction. And our mutation, of which the assembly line, the collective farm, the mechanized army, and the mass production of food are evidences or even symptoms, might well correspond to the thickening armor of the great reptiles - a tendency that can end only in extinction. ~ John Steinbeck
John Vaught quotes by John Steinbeck
Bad behavior is seen as something to be noticed, reported on, and analyzed, whereas people who do not lie and cheat are taken for granted. ~ John Brockman
John Vaught quotes by John Brockman

There swift return Diurnal, merely to officiate light Round this opacous earth, this punctual spot. ~ John Milton
John Vaught quotes by John Milton
I began to notice that when I was tired or anxious, there were certain sentences I would say in my head that lead me to a very familiar place. The journey to this place would often start with me walking around disturbed, feeling as if there was something deep inside that I needed to put into words but couldn't quite capture. I felt the "something" as an anxiety, a loneliness, and a need for connection with someone. If no connection came, I would start to say things like, "Life really stinks. Why is it always so hard? It's never going to change." If no one noticed that I was struggling and asked me what was wrong, I found my sentences shifting again to a more cynical level, "Who cares? Life really is a joke." Surprisingly, I noticed by the time I was saying these last sentences, I was feeling better. The anxiety had greatly diminished.
My "comforter", my abiding place, was cynicism and rebellion. From this abiding place, I would feel free to use some soul - cocaine - a violence video with maybe a little sexual titillation thrown in, perhaps having a little more alcohol with a meal than I might normally drink - things that would allow me to feel better for just a little while. I had always thought of these things as just bad habits. I began to see that they were much more; they were spiritual abiding places that were my comforters and friends in a very spiritual way; literally, other lovers. ~ John Eldredge
John Vaught quotes by John Eldredge
The stratosphere is my church. ~ John Perry Barlow
John Vaught quotes by John Perry Barlow
My heart is a desolate field over which geese vee, the sky turns and the days lie fallow ... ~ John Geddes
John Vaught quotes by John Geddes

Just change where you want to go ~ John Walter Bratton
