Didn't we, like our grandchildren, begin with a childhood we thought would never end? Now, all of a sudden, I'm older than my parents were when I thought they were old. ~ Lois Wyse
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Lois Wyse
With your own children, you love them immediately - and with grandchildren, it's exactly the same. ~ Kevin Whately
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Kevin Whately
My parents and grandparents did not tolerate idle thoughts or behavior. If the action did not have a purpose or lead you in a positive direction, their feeling was "why bother?" This is how I was built. This is why I refuse to fail. ~ Carlos Wallace
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Carlos Wallace
I told you guys my grandparents visited, and it was their first time celebrating Thanksgiving. Hailey asked if we ate a cat. Because we're Chinese." Ho-ly ~ Angie Thomas
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Angie Thomas
There were never any doctors in my family. But my grandparents and my mother had a strong social conscience that was formative. ~ Robert Winston
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Robert Winston
Preschoolers sound much brighter and more knowledgeable than they really are, which is why so many parents and grandparents are sosure their progeny are gifted and super-bright. Because children's questions sound so mature and sophisticated, we are tempted to answer them at a level of abstraction far beyond the child's level of comprehension. That is a temptation we should resist. ~ David Elkind
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by David Elkind
It's fun to think that one day our great, great grandchildren may get that much closer to understanding what the hell creation is doing here in the first place, and glimpsing the underlying structure and nature of matter itself. Hopefully they won't live with the same existential horrors we all quietly face today in our own lives.

There is a kind of bravery to our condition, I reckon: brought into being without an explanation, in a potentially infinite and apparently dead universe, and expected to just get on with it as though nothing strange is going on. Well it fucking is. And it's all right to have a meltdown about the whole affair from time to time, faced with the pressures of modern existence, trying to be a good human and a good worker and a good son/daughter/parent, trying to be a good citizen, trying to be wise without condescension but uninhibited without recklessness, trying to just muddle through without making any silly decisions, trying to align with the correct political opinions, trying to stay thin, trying to be attractive, trying to be smart, trying to find the ideal partner, trying to stay financially secure, trying to just find some modest corner of meaning and belonging and sanity to go and sit in, and all the while living on the edge of dying forever.

We're all in the same strange boat, grappling with the same strange condition. But it isn't quite so scary if we all do it together. So let's do it together. ~ Exurb1a
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Exurb1a
Gabriel stared at the dashboard of Hunter's Jeep and made no move to get out of the vehicle.

"I don't know what the hell we're doing here," he said.

"Well," said Hunter, "we could always go back to the house and watch Mamma Mia! with my grandparents. Or maybe we could stare at the police scanner for another hour and wait for nothing to happen. Or maybe "

"I just don't feel like being at a party." At this party. Full of guys who'd know he wasn't allowed on the team. Full of girls who'd tease him about being an idiot.

Hunter's dog stuck his head between the seats, and Gabriel reached up to scratch him behind his ears. "I'll just stay here with the dog."

Hunter sighed and gave him a look. "Come on, baby, don't be like that. Did you pack your Midol?"

"All right, all right." Gabriel climbed out of the car, slamming the door behind him. "I don't even know why I like you. ~ Brigid Kemmerer
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Brigid Kemmerer
Our parents and grandparents understood this truth deeply. They believed - as we do - that to create jobs, a modern economy requires modern investments: educating, innovating and rebuilding for our children's future. Building an economy to last, from the middle class up, not from the billionaires down. ~ Martin O'Malley
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Martin O'Malley
She could already feel the dryness in her throat, the catch in her voice, when she'd have to stand up in class and tell everyone what her grandparents did. After the other kids read out their work on grannies who baked them squidgy chocolate chip cookies, she could imagine how the others would look at her when she talked about Grandmother Vanessa who strode through the desert with her binoculars, counting kudu. ~ Sanjida Kay
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Sanjida Kay
Tell me about the war," he pressed cautiously. She smiled again and began, "Well . . ." The sentence ended there. Her tongue moved but no words emerged. He wanted to say, Tell me because I'd like to tell my grandchildren one day. Tell me because it happened to you, and so I should know. Tell me because it will bring me closer to you, and I want to be close to you. But he was fifteen years old, and he didn't know how to express thoughts like these. He only knew that he wanted to know. He could tell that she would tell him anything but anything, only if he could stand it please don't make her talk about that. And though he grasped how important it was for him to know - even if everyone in the family had acquiesced not to trouble Grandmother about it - he couldn't bring himself to make her. So he said to her: "Forget about the war. Tell me about how you and Grandfather fell in love. ~ Boris Fishman
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Boris Fishman
There were nine children in my father's family and eight in my mother's. My grandparents did the best with what they had. After the Depression, they were scratching out a living and working hard. They kept the family going. ~ Cheryl Ladd
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Cheryl Ladd
Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally . Leadership means that 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. ~ Barack Obama
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Barack Obama
My grandchildren are on social media all the time, and they think they have friends. But it's not what I would've called a friend, ever. ~ Noam Chomsky
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Noam Chomsky
Show some respect. They were your grandparents. -Batman
Just names and dusty frames on the wall to me. -Damien
I take exception to that. There is not a speck of dust collecting on those portraits. -Alfred ~ Peter J. Tomasi
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Peter J. Tomasi
Reggie made him feel like he was nine years old and out for dinner with his family at the Ponderosa Steak House and he had run into his French teacher and his mother invited her to dine with him.
Reggie made him feel like he was sitting in a public bathroom stall and someone had come into the bathroom and began singing a song about what a stinky bastard he was while he was in there sweating it out.
Reggie made him feel like someone had taken the red Tonka fire engine he had always wanted and painfully corkscrewed it down the front of his jeans.
Reggie made him feel like the ice cream man had just rolled by and all his dead grandparents were mooning him out the truck window. ~ Jonathan Goldstein
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Jonathan Goldstein
The time will soon be here when my grandchild will long for the cry of a loon, the flash of a salmon, the whisper of spruce needles, or the screech of an eagle. But he will not make friends with any of these creatures and when his heart aches with longing, he will curse me. Have I done all to keep the air fresh? Have I cared enough about the water? Have I left the eagle to soar in freedom? Have I done everything I could to earn my grandchild's fondness? ~ Chief Dan George
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Chief Dan George
Whereas our grandparents lived as if they had swallowed gyroscopes, we think and act as if we have swallowed Gallup polls. ~ Os Guinness
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Os Guinness
Everyone in Senate is a hurdle, but everyone in there has children. Everyone in there has grandchildren. No one wants to see our kids continue to gain weight, have high blood pressure high cholesterol, diabetes, and depression. ~ Richard Simmons
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Richard Simmons
POEM – MY AMAZING
TRAVELS
[My composition in my book Travel Memoirs with Pictures]

My very first trip I still cannot believe
Was planned and executed with such great ease.
My father, an Inspector of Schools, was such a strict man,
He gave in to my wishes when I told him of the plan.

I got my first long vacation while working as a banker
One of my co-workers wanted a travelling partner.
She visited my father and discussed the matter
Arrangements were made without any flutter.

We travelled to New York, Toronto, London, and Germany,
In each of those places, there was somebody,
To guide and protect us and to take us wonderful places,
It was a dream come true at our young ages.

We even visited Holland, which was across the Border.
To drive across from Germany was quite in order.
Memories of great times continue to linger,
I thank God for an understanding father.

That trip in 1968 was the beginning of much more,
I visited many countries afterward I am still in awe.
Barbados, Tobago, St. Maarten, and Buffalo,
Cirencester in the United Kingdom, Miami, and Orlando.

I was accompanied by my husband on many trips.
Sisters, nieces, children, grandchildren, and friends, travelled with me a bit.
Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, and Hialeah,
Curacao, Caracas, Margarita, Virginia, and Anguilla.

We sailed ~ Brenda Mohammed
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Brenda Mohammed
I was in my early forties the first time I visited an oncology ward for terminal patients. I was apprehensive, as I was going to the front lines of a battle the our culture labors mightily to keep hidden, but I needed to visit a friend. I did not expect that the ward would be an apocalypse in the literal sense of the word--an unmasking or uncovering. The intensity of misery was overwhelming, yet it did not frighten or repel me, for I had entered holy ground. People my own age, as well as the elderly, were shockingly frail and needed support just to totter down the hall. Still, they were alive, and walking, saying their goodbyes to friends, children, and grandchildren. What struck me was that the atmosphere was not merely one of sadness, but also one of beauty deepened by the sobering inevitability of death, and blessed by the presence of vibrant love. While the relentless activity of New York City surrounded us, here everything unessential had been stripped away. Only life remained, a gift and a joy beyond our understanding. I had arrived in the real world. ~ Kathleen Norris
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Kathleen Norris
Grandmam came back from that distance in time that separates grandmothers from their grandchildren and made herself a mother to me. ~ Wendell Berry
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Wendell Berry
I was an adopted child of my grandparents, and I don't know how I can ever express my gratitude for that, because my parents would have been a mess, you know. ~ James Earl Jones
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by James Earl Jones
I can't control life for my grandchildren, so how could I control a story? Sometimes I try to force something, and after working and working on that chapter, I realise that I am swimming against the current. I will never get there. So I have to let go of whatever previous idea I had about it and let the characters decide. ~ Isabel Allende
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Isabel Allende
I am happier when I love than when I am loved. I adore my husband, my son, my grandchildren, my mother, my dog, and frankly, I don't know if they even like me. But who cares? Loving them is my joy. ~ Isabel Allende
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Isabel Allende
I am imprinted with the whole sense of European history, especially German history, going back to World War I, which really destroyed all the old values and culture. My grandparents had been reasonably well-off but they became quite poor, living in an attic apartment. ~ Lisel Mueller
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Lisel Mueller
It is, I suppose, the business of grandparents to create memories and the relative of memories: traditions. We want to lodge moments, like snapshots, in the fleeting video of time. ~ Ellen Goodman
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Ellen Goodman
Before I go," he said, and paused
"I may kiss her?"
It was remembered afterwards that when he bent down and touched her face with his lips, he murmured some words. The child, who was nearest to him, told them afterwards, and told her grandchildren when she was a handsome old lady, that she heard him say, "A life you love. ~ Charles Dickens
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Charles Dickens
You may be outnumbered by your problems and facing hopeless circumstances, but God has a divine plan to bring you into restoration - and you don't have to suffer any casualties. ~ Drenda Keesee
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Drenda Keesee
Children make you confront your own childhood. Which I think is common. Suddenly you're remembering your own parents as parents, not to mention the fact that you're confronted by them as grandparents. So you also have that terrible shock, a mirror image of your own. You suddenly seem to be so helpless in the face of young children. And you think, "How did you ever bring up me?" ~ Sam Mendes
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Sam Mendes
It was sort of just a family sport. My mom and dad were pretty keen golfers when I was young and so were my grandparents, and I just sort of tagged along with them. ~ Karrie Webb
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Karrie Webb
People usually compare themselves to their more fortunate contemporaries rather than to their ill-fated ancestors. If you tell a poor American in a Detroit slum that he has access to much better healthcare than his great-grandparents did a century ago, it is unlikely to cheer him up. Indeed, such talk will sound terribly smug and condescending. 'Why should I compare myself to nineteenth-century factory workers or peasants? ~ Yuval Noah Harari
Grandchildren And Grandparents quotes by Yuval Noah Harari
My mother said, Don't worry abot what people think now. Think about whether your children and grandchildren will think you've done well. ~ Lord Mountbatten
