Succumbing finally, she lets out a loud shriek as her vehicle stops at a red light. "Fuck." She hollers cursing the night. Cursing the shadows, cursing the unknown condemned she intends to meet this evening. Tears roll down her cheeks landing on her bullet proof vest. ~ M.R. Gott
Gott Nytt R quotes by M.R. Gott
People, of course, like to think that they are special -- that's exciting. It's disappointing to discover otherwise. ~ J. Richard Gott III
Gott Nytt R quotes by J. Richard Gott III
And because you not always can keep your eyes shut there comes the real trouble
the heart pain
the world pain.
I tell you, my friend, it is not good for you to find you cannot make your dream come true, for the reason that you not strong enough are, or not clever enough ... Ja! ...
And all the time you are such a fine fellow too! Wie? Was? Gott im Himmel! How can that be? Ha! ha! ha!
'The shadow prowling amongst the graves of butterflies laughed boisterously. ~ Joseph Conrad
Gott Nytt R quotes by Joseph Conrad
As a man is, so is his God; therefore God was so often an object of mockery.
[Ger., Wie einer ist, so ist sein Gott,
Darum ward Gott so oft zu Spott.] ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Gott Nytt R quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Life on the farm had fed his soul since he was a child. he was ever grateful to Gott for giving him a chance to work the land and live by the seasons. It was a good life...but a lonely one for a man his age, a man too old to be living with his family. ~ Rosalind Lauer
Gott Nytt R quotes by Rosalind Lauer
contextualization is inevitable. As soon as you choose a language to speak in and particular words to use within that language, the culture-laden nature of words comes into play. We often think that translating words from one language to another is simple - it's just a matter of locating the synonym in the other language. But there are few true synonyms. The word God is translated into German as Gott - simple enough. But the cultural history of German speakers is such that the word Gott strikes German ears differently than the English word God strikes the ears of English speakers. It means something different to them. You may need to do more explanation if you are to give German speakers the same biblical concept of God that the word conveys to English speakers. ~ Timothy J. Keller
Gott Nytt R quotes by Timothy J. Keller
Logically, when Maestro Gott some years ago, after an especially cruel critic had compared him to "a zombie who causes acute depression to innocent radio listeners", decided to stop performing in protest, the situation was considered so grave that the Minister of Culture himself went to console the deeply insulted star. ~ Terje B. Englund
Gott Nytt R quotes by Terje B. Englund
God heard the embattled nations sing and shout
"Gott strafe England" and "God save the King!"
God this, God that, and God the other thing –
"Good God!" said God, "I've got my work cut out! ~ John Collings Squire
Gott Nytt R quotes by John Collings Squire
Charakter ist Schicksal. Historie ist Gott. ~ J.M. Coetzee
Gott Nytt R quotes by J.M. Coetzee
William sees it all happen again. The pain is not in the event. The subjection to it and his powerless state each time is where his anguish lies. He is unable to influence the situation, despite his desire. He sees the nest outside his house. He sees the baby bird that fell. The mother bird cries frantically for her lost chick. William knows as he approaches the chick that if he touches it his scent will linger, and the mother will reject it. Circling around the fallen creature William hopes it will flee from him, back toward the tree from which it had fallen. His presence only intensifies the creature's fear. It speeds to his left, heading for the street. Again William tries to flank the bird, but it is too frightened to return to the nest. The chick's mother wails vainly. William walks into the street trying to herd the bird to safety. The stop light a block away has just turned green. The driver accelerates. William moves from the car's path and it runs over the bird. The momentum from its wake lifts the bird to the underside of the car, breaking its neck, but not killing it. William watches the bird roll helplessly. It is silent for a second, before it begins to whimper. Its contorted head dangles limply from its body. The noise is tragic. The bird's mother hears the chick's pain, but nothing can be done. She laments. A second speeder crushes the chick, leaving only a wet feathered spot in the street. As the cars continue to pass, only one bird is heard. A mother's grief ~ M.R. Gott
Gott Nytt R quotes by M.R. Gott
The only sound is the audible record of her thrusts as she becomes wetter. Her beautiful voice echoing in his head, they share the sounds of their amorous flesh moving in unbridled rhythm. ~ M.R. Gott
Gott Nytt R quotes by M.R. Gott
A Wilhelmstrasse official admitted to me today that the Germans had imposed forced labour on all Jews in Poland. He said the term of forced labour was "only two years."16 A German school-teacher tells me this one: the instructors begin the day with this greeting to their pupils: "Gott strafe England!" - whereupon the children are supposed to answer: "He will. ~ William L. Shirer
Gott Nytt R quotes by William L. Shirer
Wie Gott in Frankreich' was the expression used by the Jews of Eastern Europe to describe perfect happiness. I puzzled over this simile for many years, and I think I can interpret it now. God would be perfectly happy in France because he would not be troubled by prayers, observances, blessings and demands for the interpretation of difficult dietary questions. Surrounded by unbelievers He too could relax toward evening, just as thousands of Parisians do at their favorite cafes. There are few things more pleasant, more civilized than a tranquil terrasse at dusk. ~ Saul Bellow
Gott Nytt R quotes by Saul Bellow
A girl who wants everything, but shares nothing. A girl who is lost and sad, but too embarrassed to share it with anyone. ~ Lisa M. Gott
Gott Nytt R quotes by Lisa M. Gott
If you see an antimatter version of yourself running towards you, think twice before embracing. ~ J. Richard Gott III
Gott Nytt R quotes by J. Richard Gott III
But you know, mon petite, what you got is a gift. And when de good Lord gives you a gift you have to use it. Dat's why he put you here on dis earth. Sometime it's gonna be to help a soul cross over to de other side to meet him. If dat's whey you gott do, den dat's what you gotta do. You can't just keep collecting de dead. You gonna have to find a way to take what you got and work wit dat. ~ Deborah Leblanc
Gott Nytt R quotes by Deborah Leblanc
The dead are the past and we cannot escape the past. Without the past there will be no future. ~ M.R. Gott
Gott Nytt R quotes by M.R. Gott
Es gibt keinen Gott und Dirac ist sein Prophet. (There is no God and Dirac is his Prophet.)

{A remark made during the Fifth Solvay International Conference (October 1927), after a discussion of the religious views of various physicists, at which all the participants laughed, including Dirac, as quoted in Teil und das Ganze (1969), by Werner Heisenberg, p. 119; it is an ironic play on the Muslim statement of faith, the Shahada, often translated: 'There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his Prophet.'} ~ Wolfgang Pauli
