To be the best next-generation leader you can be, you must enlist the help of others. Self-evaluation is helpful, but evaluation from someone else is essential. You need a leadership coach. Coaching enables a leader to go further faster. ~ Andy Stanley
Go Further Faster quotes by Andy Stanley
Sometimes wisdom dictates that you take a few steps backwards to be able to go much further ~ TemitOpe Ibrahim
Go Further Faster quotes by TemitOpe Ibrahim
Anger and rage are like speeding," Kyran said. "It propels you to go further, faster than you thought possible, carrying you with its momentum, but if you don't know when to let go, you'll inevitably crash. ~ S.F. Mazhar
Go Further Faster quotes by S.F. Mazhar
We have a tendency to measure ourselves against the people around us. They become our point of reference. A good coach will evaluate your performance against your potential.
... if we are wise enough to listen, they will help us go further, faster. ~ Andy Stanley
Go Further Faster quotes by Andy Stanley
In walking with God, a man will go just as far as he believes, and no further. ~ J.C. Ryle
Go Further Faster quotes by J.C. Ryle
Many religious fundamentalists around the world would like to see the establishment of theocracies - states where religion and government are closely intertwined. While some just reject separation of [name of place of worship] and state, others go further and insist that one religion's tenets be made law.

The normal arguments for a theocracy are that, for example, it would lend a greater sense of morality to the making and enforcement of laws. Or that as our laws were originally derived from some moral commandments in a particular religion, it makes sense to enthrone this religion as chief in the state.

Basically, theocrats can talk until the cows come home about how great it would be if we were ruled by God, how great it would be if our laws followed God's laws, and so forth. But this vision of theocracy will never come to be, and should never come to be.

The fundamental problem with every theocracy is that is innately unfair. Not just unfair to those who do not follow the state religion, but also unfair to those who do not follow the state religion as it is understood and interpreted by the humans who run the state.

After all, who really believes that all the Muslims in any of the Islamic theocracies we have today are happy? Those who believe the wrong things about Islam from one particular point of view are mercilessly vilified - the present civil war in Iraq is an excellent example.

Why a theocracy would be unfair ~ John Lee
Go Further Faster quotes by John Lee
The development of speech and the development of consciousness (not of reason, but of reason becoming self-conscious) go hand in hand. Let it be further accepted that it is not only speech that serves as a bridge between man and man, but also the looks, the pressure and the gestures; our becoming conscious of our sense impressions, our power of being able to fix them, and as it were to locate them outside of ourselves, has increased in proportion as the necessity has increased for communicating them to others by means of signs. The sign-inventing man is at the same time the man who is always more acutely self-conscious; it is only as a social animal that man has learned to become conscious of himself, - he is doing so still, and doing so more and more. - As is obvious, my idea is that consciousness does not properly belong to the individual existence of man, but rather to the social and gregarious nature in him; that, as follows therefrom, it is only in relation to communal and gregarious utility that it is finely developed; and that consequently each of us, in spite of the best intention of understanding himself as individually as possible, and of "knowing himself," will always just call into consciousness the non-individual in him, namely, his "averageness"; - that our thought itself is continuously as it were outvoted by the character of consciousness - by the imperious "genius of the species" therein - and is translated back into the perspective of the herd. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Go Further Faster quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche
I am not a well educated man except that I have educated myself, and,
because I have educated myself, what I say will not stand up, for lack of recognized authority. This in turn leaves me free to say what I will, in the hope that, like those small forces that do not threaten empires and are thus not fully pursued, the things in which I believe can survive in some high and forgotten place until the power of empire subsides.
And although I know that few will listen to or credit this, I think we are in a lost age, in which holiness and charity have been traded for the victory and penetration of knowledge, though all the knowledge in the world has not brought us any further than where we can go without it even in the outermost halls of grace. I believe that more is to be known and apprehended from the beauty of a face than in delving, no
matter how deep, simply into how things work, no matter how marvelous that may be. The greatest substance of the world is immaterial, the province of the heart, and its study cannot be forced or reasoned. Merely to touch upon the edge of things in parsing their mechanics is to forswear their fullness, for the entry to this fullness lies not in science but in art. I cannot prove this, for it cannot be proven, but I claim, assert, and have seen it. ~ Mark Helprin
Go Further Faster quotes by Mark Helprin
I don't think art is propaganda; it should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. It celebrates humanity instead of manipulating it. ~ Keith Haring
Go Further Faster quotes by Keith Haring
The more you know, the more you don't know," the further you go in your training, learning, and experience as a yoga teacher, the more you'll realize that there's an infinite universe of knowledge and wisdom to bring to the practice. ~ Mark Stephens
Go Further Faster quotes by Mark Stephens
Wonderful art can spring from misery,I'm the last person to deny that.I'd go even further:the best works of art of all time are probably stemmed from the deep human sorrow or hellish frustration, the death of a loved one or a divorce and yes:jealousy.Heartache and impotence as the man-spring for making the unverifiable verifiable and for giving it face. How romantic, beautiful and especially useful pain and misery can be. ~ Esther Verhoef
Go Further Faster quotes by Esther Verhoef
As soon as we touch the complex processes that go on in a living thing, be it plant or animal, we are at once forced to use the methods of this science [chemistry]. No longer will the microscope, the kymograph, the scalpel avail for the complete solution of the problem. For the further analysis of these phenomena which are in flux and flow, the investigator must associate himself with those who have labored in fields where molecules and atoms, rather than multicellular tissues or even unicellular organisms, are the units of study. ~ John Jacob Abel
Go Further Faster quotes by John Jacob Abel
Writing is one of the loneliest professions in the world because it has to be practiced in this very separate private world, in _here_. Not in the mind; in the imagination. And I think it is possible that the writing of fantasy is the loneliest job of the lot, since you have to go further inside. You have to make so close a connection with the unconscious that the unbiddable door will open and the images fly out, like birds. ~ Susan Cooper
Go Further Faster quotes by Susan Cooper
We won't go any further than this, I promise. But please don't ask me to stop where we already are. I need to watch you and I need to hear you because the fact that I know you're actually feeling this right now is so fucking amazing. You feel incredible and this feels incredible and please. Just ... please. ~ Colleen Hoover
Go Further Faster quotes by Colleen Hoover
154Surely all art is the result of one's having been in danger, of having gone through an experience all the way to the end, to where no one can go any further. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Go Further Faster quotes by Rainer Maria Rilke
Tinkerers built America. Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, all were tinkerers in their childhood. Everything from the airplane to the computer started in somebody's garage. Go back even further: the Industrial Revolution was a revolution of tinkerers. The great scientific thinkers of eighteenth-century England couldn't have been less interested in cotton spinning and weaving. Why would you be? It was left to a bloke on the shop floor who happened to glance at a one-thread wheel that had toppled over and noticed that both the wheel and the spindle were still turning. So James Hargreaves invented the spinning jenny, and there followed other artful gins and mules and frames and looms, and Britain and the world were transformed. By tinkerers rather than thinkerers. "Technological change came from tinkerers," wrote Professor J.R. McNeill of Georgetown, "people with little or no scientific education but with plenty of hands-on experience." John Ratzenberger likes to paraphrase a Stanford University study: "Engineers who are great in physics and calculus but can't think in new ways about old objects are doomed to think in old ways about new objects." That's the lesson of the spinning jenny: an old object fell over and someone looked at it in a new way. ~ Mark Steyn
Go Further Faster quotes by Mark Steyn
For her, loneliness is something you have others remove for you. And once it's gone, everything's okay. Doesn't go any further. I can't live that way. ~ Haruki Murakami
Go Further Faster quotes by Haruki Murakami
Why is this place named Burnt Boot?" Martin asked.
"Back in the days of the cattle drives old Hiram Cleary got tired of lookin' at the back end of cattle all day. He sat down right out there and pulled off his boot, threw it in the fire so he couldn't go no further, and built a store to sell stuff to the people comin' up the trail. He was an ancestor to my husband," Gladys answered. ~ Carolyn Brown
Go Further Faster quotes by Carolyn Brown
With his bare hands Mulder dug at the loose earth. After a minute, he said, 'I've go it. I just have to pull it out and-'
He got no further.
He and Scully were blinded by a high power flashlight.
When their vision cleared, they saw the sheriff looming over them, brandishing an ugly-looking .45.
'May I ask what you're doing?' he growled.
Mulder held up what he had found in the earth: a piece of raw potato.
'Exhuming your potato,' was all he could say. ~ Les Martin
Go Further Faster quotes by Les Martin
Chomsky's description of the neoliberal/corporate hold over our economy, polity, journalism, and culture is so powerful and overwhelming that for some readers it can produce a sense of resignation. In our demoralized political times, a few may go a step further and conclude that we are enmeshed in this regressive system because, alas, humanity is simply incapable of creating a more humane, egalitarian, and democratic social order. ~ Noam Chomsky
Go Further Faster quotes by Noam Chomsky
Our political discourse has degenerated into anxieties about whether giving benefits to those people over there will take money out of the pockets of my kind of people over here, even when the changes are those from which we would all benefit."

"The church is one of the few remaining institutions in the American scene that normalizes the effects of slavery, with most Christians preserving these segregated spaces in the interests of cultural comfort. Racially separate churches violate the interdependence that should characterize authentic Christian communities. Further, this individualism blocks churches from the blessings of gifts preserved in separate traditions. For example, segregated white churches celebrate the confessions and the rich legacies of the intellectual giants of the faith, but too often preach a weak and disembodied gospel that reduces spirituality to symbolism, and that separates material concerns from moral choices and the pursuit of righteousness."

"Indeed, we have reached a sad state of affairs when we are all unwilling to be challenged when we go to church."

"We should not move too quickly to a cheap reconciliation that forgets the past rather than honoring it as a clay vessel that contains a refined treasure bearing witness to the presence of Jesus at the margins. We need to make space for the histories of ethnic pain to be shared and revered among whites and all peoples of color, and to be instructed by them. Tha ~ Love L. Sechrest
Go Further Faster quotes by Love L. Sechrest
I feel no shame at being found still owning a share when the bottom of the market comes ... I would go much further than that. I should say that it is from time to time the duty of a serious investor to accept the depreciation of his holdings with equanimity and without reproaching himself. ... An investor ... should be aiming primarily at long-period results, and should be solely judged by these. ~ John Maynard Keynes
Go Further Faster quotes by John Maynard Keynes
Find love, Marcus. Love gives life its meaning. You're stronger when you love. You're bigger. You go further. ~ Joel Dicker
Go Further Faster quotes by Joel Dicker
For inspiration, I would turn again and again to Lieutenant Jason "Jay" Redman, a Navy SEAL who had been shot seven times and had undergone nearly two dozen surgeries. He had placed a hand-drawn sign on the door to his room at Bethesda Naval Hospital. It read: ATTENTION. To all who enter here. If you are coming into this room with sorrow or to feel sorry for my wounds, go elsewhere. The wounds I received I got in a job I love, doing it for people I love, supporting the freedom of a country I deeply love. I am incredibly tough and will make a full recovery. What is full? That is the absolute utmost physically my body has the ability to recover. Then I will push that about 20% further through sheer mental tenacity. This room you are about to enter is a room of fun, optimism, and intense rapid regrowth. If you are not prepared for that, go elsewhere. From: The Management. ~ Robert M. Gates
Go Further Faster quotes by Robert M. Gates
It's a very old idea that patience leads to skills, of course - but it seems urgent now that we go further than this and think about patience itself as the skill to be learned. ~ Jennifer L. Roberts
Go Further Faster quotes by Jennifer L. Roberts
In the end, I feel that one has to have a bit of neurosis to go on being an artist. A balanced human seldom produces art. It's that imbalance which impels us. I often think that all I want to do now is to avoid suicide, accidental or otherwise. Other than that, I think living on the edge is what drives my work and me beyond a certain point. The artist lives with anxiety. When you finally reach a plateau of achievement, there comes a new anxiety - the hunger to push on still further. That angst is what makes you go forward. ~ Beverly Pepper
Go Further Faster quotes by Beverly Pepper
And what I further don't understand is how little you appreciate the nature of your departure. Think of all the poor souls who go in violent accidents. These are the nonprecognition victim. We are not permitted to forewarn them. You, Mr. Bookman, fall into the category of natural causes. ~ Rod Serling
Go Further Faster quotes by Rod Serling
On a scale of one to 10, I feel I'm at a nine because there's definitely room for improvement. I know I could go further. ~ Maddie Ziegler
Go Further Faster quotes by Maddie Ziegler
We can all do so much more than we think we can. Wherever you think you are right now, you can go further, do better, be more than ever! What's wonderful is the future you're looking forward to and also your present potential right now! You're winning regardless. Both now and later.Celebrate you. ~ Sereda Aleta Dailey
Go Further Faster quotes by Sereda Aleta Dailey
On the 11th of every month my friend elizabeth would say, "well we made it through another month. so do we get her back now?" we always giggled, but we really did expect to get her back. its not human to let go of love, even when it's dead.
we expected one of these monthly anniversaries to be the Final Goodbye. we figured that we'd said all our goodbyes, and given up all the tears we had to give. we'd passed the test and would get back what we'd lost. but instead, every anniversary hurt more, and every anniversary felt like she was further away from coming back. the idea that there wouldn't be a final goodbye- that was a hard goodbye in itself and, at that point, still an impossible goodbye. no private eye has to tell you it's a long goodbye.
... the loss just doesn't go away- it gets bigger the longer you look at it. ~ Rob Sheffield
Go Further Faster quotes by Rob Sheffield
I live on the other side of a pretty big ocean and that's not a small problem. We should discuss what that means before we go any further."
"No."
"No?"
"No. I want it so our hooks are so deep in each other it doesn't matter what problems we face, we'll do whatever we can to overcome them together."
"This is insane. We just met!"
"Yeah, we did. And yeah, it's crazy." He leaned across the table again, his voice pitched low and sexy. "But tell me you don't feel like you've known me forever. Tell me it's not just about sex. You feel it, I know you do. This is more than just amazing sexual attraction. There's a connection here, angel."
"How can that be? How do you know?"
"I don't know how I know. I just do. If people knew how this shit worked, someone would have written a formula for it by now so everybody got a piece of the good life."
"Oh my God." My fingers trembled as I reached up to push my hair off my face.
"We stumbled onto something special, Autumn. We would be fools to turn our backs on it when other folks aren't so lucky. ~ Samantha Young
Go Further Faster quotes by Samantha Young
I want to go further, because it was investment banks, it was insurance companies, it was mortgage companies, all of which contributed. So let's not just be narrowly focused on one part of the problem. We have a lot of issues with corporate power that have to be addressed. My plan takes us further and it would do the job. ~ Hillary Clinton
Go Further Faster quotes by Hillary Clinton
The further forward we go, the further back we have to explore in order to go forward again. ~ Stephen Gardiner
Go Further Faster quotes by Stephen Gardiner
Let go the past, let go the future, and let go the present (front, back, middle). Crossing to the farther shore of existence, with mind released everywhere, do not further undergo birth and decay. ~ Gautama Buddha
Go Further Faster quotes by Gautama Buddha
The architect had not stopped to bother about columns and porticos, proportions or interiors, or any limitation upon the epic he sought to materialize; he had simply made a servant of Nature - art can go no further. ~ Lew Wallace
Go Further Faster quotes by Lew Wallace
The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The person who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever seen before. ~ Albert Einstein
Go Further Faster quotes by Albert Einstein
His favourite word, one for which I have a great deal of time myself as a matter of fact, was "arse." Everyone was more or less an arse most of the time, but I was arsier than just about everyone else in the school. In fact, in my case he would often go further - I was on many occasions a bumptious arse. Before I learned what bumptious actually meant I assumed that it derived from "bum" and believed therefore with great pride that as a bumptious arse I was doubly arsey - twice the arse of ordinary arses. ~ Stephen Fry
Go Further Faster quotes by Stephen Fry
But the Hermetists go still further in this matter. They teach that before one is able to enjoy a certain degree of pleasure, he must have swung as far, proportionately, toward the other pole of feeling. They hold, however, that the Negative is precedent to the Positive in this matter, that is to say that in experiencing a certain degree of pleasure it does not follow that he will have to "pay up for it" with a corresponding degree of pain; on the contrary, the pleasure is the Rhythmic swing, according to the Law of Compensation, for a degree of pain previously experienced ~ Three Initiates
Go Further Faster quotes by Three Initiates
I applaud President Obama's decision to begin a partial withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Afghanistan. However, I believe that we must go further and have a full withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops. ~ Susan Bysiewicz
Go Further Faster quotes by Susan Bysiewicz
Did she go postal?" Russell grins at him, "You know, for pullin' her portal on the island and sendin' her to your safe house before the fight?"
"Define postal?" Zephyr counters, his brows pulling together further.
"Insanely angry," Russell says.
"Yes," Zephyr nods his head adamantly, pointing at him. "She has not called me 'sweetie' since."
"Oooo," Russell says, ducking his head and wrinkling his nose. "Doghouse. ~ Amy A. Bartol
Go Further Faster quotes by Amy A. Bartol
Have you ever thought how humiliating and distressing it was to be placed upon a sphere? For friendship it is a boon never to be able to be further apart than the antipodes. But suppose that you are leaving together to go on and on; it is impossible. To go beyond a certain point is to return to where you began. ~ Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
Go Further Faster quotes by Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
The further in you go, the bigger it gets. ~ John Crowley
Go Further Faster quotes by John Crowley
What a disgrace! They were afraid...ashamed...they chose to conceal it...they buried the roots of a Great Civilization...they lacked the courage to go further...and turned their backs on what science had to offer them...and tried to seal away forever the hole they had torn open with their own hands. ~ Katsuhiro Otomo
Go Further Faster quotes by Katsuhiro Otomo
I like my human experience served up with a little silence and restraint. Silence makes experience go further and, when it does die, gives it that dignity common to a thing one had touched and not ravished. ~ Djuna Barnes
Go Further Faster quotes by Djuna Barnes
A culture produces ideas which are being explored, which of interest to that culture at that moment. And I think one of the things a writer can do is to take those ideas and go a bit further with them. ~ Kate Grenville
