...because of the coronavirus.
Oh.
But someday soon... ~ Ari Gunzburg
Coronavirus Books quotes by Ari Gunzburg
As readers can probably tell from my books, I love the outdoors. ~ Sharon Creech
Coronavirus Books quotes by Sharon Creech
The Librarian was, of course, very much in favor of reading in general, but readers in particular got on his nerves. There was something, well, sacrilegious about the way they kept taking books off the shelves and wearing out the words by reading them. He liked people who loved and respected books, and the best way to do that, in the Librarian's opinion, was to leave them on the shelves where Nature intended them to be. The ~ Terry Pratchett
Coronavirus Books quotes by Terry Pratchett
Like Desserts, books come in all kinds of tasty treats! ~ Carmela Dutra
Coronavirus Books quotes by Carmela Dutra
Whenever we talk about darkness and light, the terms seem so abstract that many consider the answers to be found in meditation and yoga, but I'm here to tell you that the answers are in the books you will never read, waiting all your life in the libraries you ignored and the bookstores you didn't visit. I'm here to tell you as well that you are your own Satan and evil can't possibly interfere more in your life than what you're already doing to yourself by remaining ignorant. Until you choose the light, darkness is your personal choice, and there's no reason to feel any empathy for you. ~ Robin Sacredfire
Coronavirus Books quotes by Robin Sacredfire
But the more he strained to think, the clearer it became to him that it was undoubtedly so, that he had actually forgotten, overlooked in his life one small circumstance - that death would come and everything would end, that it was not worth starting anything and that nothing could possibly be done about it. Yes, it was terrible, but it was so. ~ Leo Tolstoy
Coronavirus Books quotes by Leo Tolstoy
My friend, nearly all major purchases and decisions are made by people for emotional reasons and your goal as an honest salesperson is to prove how your product or service
can help your clients feel the way they want to feel, because your product or service will deliver the results for them that they need to solve their problems now. ~ Clay Clark
Coronavirus Books quotes by Clay Clark
And then there were the readers, Gawd bless them. We must have signed hundreds of thousands of copies for them by now. The books are often well read to the point of physical disintegration; if we run across a shiny new copy, it's usually because the owner's previous five have been stolen by friends, struck by lightning or eaten by giant termites in Sumatra. You have been warned. Oh, and we understand there's a copy in the Vatican library. It'd be nice to think so. ~ Terry Pratchett
Coronavirus Books quotes by Terry Pratchett
I was just a guy who did adult or alternative comic books. And then suddenly to be, like, a New Yorker cover artist was a different thing. ~ Adrian Tomine
Coronavirus Books quotes by Adrian Tomine
Pak Karman hugged his wife's gravestone tightly. "You left without saying farewell!" The whole of the graveyard was ablaze with light. ~ Mohamed Latiff Mohamed
Coronavirus Books quotes by Mohamed Latiff Mohamed
History ... with its long, leisurely, gentlemanly labors, the books arriving by post, the cards to be kept and filed, the sections to be copied, the documents to be checked, is the ideal pursuit for the New England mind. ~ Elizabeth Hardwick
Coronavirus Books quotes by Elizabeth Hardwick
I spend money on convenient, comfortable and luxurious things; I spend money on books too. ~ Amit Kalantri
Coronavirus Books quotes by Amit Kalantri
Genealogy of ideas. You don't get to pick your family, but you can pick your teachers and you can pick your friends and you can pick the music you listen to and you can pick the books you read and you can pick the movies you see. ~ Austin Kleon
Coronavirus Books quotes by Austin Kleon
I have specific playlists for different books and characters. So, I need to have those with me. It helps me get into the mindset of the book. ~ Cassandra Clare
Coronavirus Books quotes by Cassandra Clare
After all, much of the fondness avid readers, and certainly collectors, have for their books is related to the books' physical bodies. As much as they are vessels for stories (and poetry, reference information, etc.), books are historical artifacts and repositories for memories-we like to recall who gave books to us, where we were when we read them, how old we were, and so on. ~ Allison Hoover Bartlett
Coronavirus Books quotes by Allison Hoover Bartlett
I think we could jam a bit more in our coffins than we do. I'm going to have some books, some I haven't finished or haven't read, some feathers and nice bits and pieces, the odd note. Just on the journey for the next bit. ~ Joanna Lumley
Coronavirus Books quotes by Joanna Lumley
A classic is the term given to any book which comes to represent the whole universe, a book on a par with ancient talismans. ~ Italo Calvino
Coronavirus Books quotes by Italo Calvino
I often wonder what I'd do if there weren't any books in the world. ~ James Baldwin
Coronavirus Books quotes by James Baldwin
My mom was there, in some form, in some sense, in some universe. My mom was still my mom, even if she only lived in books and door locks
and the smell of fried tomatoes and old paper.
She lived. ~ Kami Garcia
Coronavirus Books quotes by Kami Garcia
The oldest books are still only just out to those who have not read them. ~ Samuel Butler
Coronavirus Books quotes by Samuel Butler
You don't have to burn books, you don't have to rebel against teachers to rebel; to rebel is to truly own your own self. ~ Dhani Harrison
Coronavirus Books quotes by Dhani Harrison
We ought to regard books as we do sweetmeats, not wholly to aim at the pleasantest, but chiefly to respect the wholesomest; not forbidding either, but approving the latter most. ~ Plutarch
Coronavirus Books quotes by Plutarch
Making these choices [to attend school instead of skipping], as it turned out, wasn't about willpower. I always admired people who "willed" themselves to do something, because I have never felt I was one of them. If sheer will were enough by itself, it would have been enough a long time ago, back on University Avenue, I figured. It wasn't, not for me anyway. Instead, I needed something to motivate me. I needed a few things that I could think about in my moments of weakness that would cause me to throw off the blanket and walk through the front door. More than will, I needed something to inspire me.

One thing that helped was a picture I kept in mind, this image that I used over and over whenever I was faced with these daily choices. I pictured a runner running on a racetrack. The image was set in the summertime and the racetrack was a reddish orange, divided in white racing stripes to flag the runners' columns. Only, the runner in my mental image did not run alongside others; she ran solo, with no one watching her. And she did not run a free and clear track, she ran one that required her to jump numerous hurdles, which made her break into a heavy sweat under the sun. I used this image every time I thought of things that frustrated me: the heavy books, my crazy sleep schedule, the question of where I would sleep and what I would eat. To overcome these issues I pictured my runner bolting down the track, jumping hurdles toward the finish line.

Hunger, hurdle ~ Liz Murray
Coronavirus Books quotes by Liz Murray
The book salesman should be honored because he brings to our attention, as a rule, the very books we need most and neglect most. ~ Confucius
Coronavirus Books quotes by Confucius
Look, Mr. uh, Wulf I appreciate your trying to warn me about this, Ireally do. But there's no such thing as vampires. They're made-up. We writers made them up. I'm sorry we did such a good job that we made the whole world paranoid, but it's true. They're fictional. Blame Bram Stoker. He started it. ~ Meg Cabot
Coronavirus Books quotes by Meg Cabot
Here, you carry these. I may need my hands free.

Why the hell are we taking 'The Dream of the Red Chamber?' Light reading, if we get stuck on the subway?

No, in case we get stopped by some of Qing Song's minions who can't read Chinese.

Oh. Right. Hey, that's not a bad thought. Though if we're going to be throwing them away anyhow, why not take 'The Investiture of the Gods'...

Because I like 'The Investiture of the Gods' and I don't like 'The Dream of the Red Chamber'. ~ Genevieve Cogman
Coronavirus Books quotes by Genevieve Cogman
I know my comfort zone and I know what my strong points are and my first love was always music. I'm a huge cinema fan. I was taking my time; I got offered a lot of scripts and things along the way but until Burlesque showed up at my doorstep, it really spoke to me. I have a collection of burlesque books at home that I've had for years. I've always been intrigued and fascinated with the topic, the beauty and the art of it and the comedic value of it. I think it's just a beautiful, empowering thing for women. ~ Christina Aguilera
Coronavirus Books quotes by Christina Aguilera
Where shadows dim with shadows mate,
in caverns deep and dark.
Where old books dream of bygone days,
when they were wood and bark ... ~ Walter Moers
Coronavirus Books quotes by Walter Moers
The books talked about it [the heart] as if it were a sump pump stuck down in the muck and mire of somebody's backyard. Never in all my scientific reading did I encounter anything that talked about a broken heart. Never did I read anything about what the heart felt, how it felt or why it felt. Feeling and knowing weren't important, only understanding ~ Charles Martin
Coronavirus Books quotes by Charles Martin
Lift up your eyes from your books, from your past, from your hurts and look upon all people with love, because when you look into another's eyes and see innocence, you find it in yourself. ~ Dragos Bratasanu
Coronavirus Books quotes by Dragos Bratasanu
I was always an avid reader of books. My vocabulary, my English are all thanks to that reading habit. Reading keeps me grounded. I came from a very middle class family - poor, in fact. ~ Madhur Bhandarkar
Coronavirus Books quotes by Madhur Bhandarkar
She was always reading, and she read very good books. ~ J.D. Salinger
Coronavirus Books quotes by J.D. Salinger
Reading a novel, he supposes, is like playing a game where all the choices have been made for you ahead of time by someone who is much better at this particular game. (Though he sometimes wishes choose-your-own-adventure novels would come back into fashion.) ~ Erin Morgenstern
Coronavirus Books quotes by Erin Morgenstern
When, sometime around my fortieth birthday, I was struck by the urge to try to write a novel, I was vastly comforted to learn that Rex Stout didn't write his first Nero Wolfe tale until he was forty-seven, and that he proceeded to write them right up to his death at the age of eighty-eight. It was considerably less comforting to learn that he typically completed a novel in thirty-eight days, and that he always got it right on the first try. P. G. Wodehouse once said, "Stout's supreme triumph was the creation of Archie Goodwin." That's how I've always felt about it, too. When I returned those first Rex Stout books to my librarian, I said to her, "Do you have any more of these Archie Goodwin stories?" She smiled, I recall, and said, "Why, yes. Dozens. ~ Rex Stout
Coronavirus Books quotes by Rex Stout
I had read four thousand pages of letters by Lawrence and I wanted thousands of pages more... I wanted them not to end. And yet, at the same time that I was wishing they would not come to an end, I was hurrying through these books because however much you are enjoying a book, however much you want it never to end, you are always eager for it to end. However much you are enjoying a book you are always flicking to the end, counting to see how many pages are left, looking forward to the time when you can put the book down and have done with it. At the back of our minds, however much we are enjoying a book, we come to the end of it and some little voice is always saying, "Thank Christ for that! ~ Geoff Dyer
Coronavirus Books quotes by Geoff Dyer
All the creativity books in the world aren't going to help you if you're unwilling to have lousy, lame, and even dangerously bad ideas. ~ Seth Godin
Coronavirus Books quotes by Seth Godin
For all the self-improvement books I had read, I still wasn't above shallow validation-seeking. None of us were. That's why we were in the game. Sex wasn't about getting our rocks off; it was about being accepted. ~ Neil Strauss
Coronavirus Books quotes by Neil Strauss
Books are the windows to our Soul! ~ Avijeet Das
Coronavirus Books quotes by Avijeet Das
It's a red letter day, too: the new set of science textbooks has
finally arrived.
This may not seem much to you but I feel like bringing in
champagne to celebrate or asking the Head for a half day's holiday.
In the past, we have shared one dirty, dog-eared textbook between
two or even three children and it's a book which doesn't even cover
the right topics for our syllabus.
These new ones are written by the people who set the exam, so
they must cover the relevant stuff.
The Head of Department arrives carrying the books and hands
them out to the kids, handling them with great reverence.
'These books are brand new,' he intones solemnly, placing one
neatly on my desk. 'They must be treated with great respect and care
so that others may use them in the future. ~ Frank Chalk
Coronavirus Books quotes by Frank Chalk
I hate books, for they only teach people to talk about what they don't understand. ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Coronavirus Books quotes by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
COVID-19 created social distance and united hearts. It shook people up to see what matters most in life and reminded us that God is still in control. ~ Farshad Asl
Coronavirus Books quotes by Farshad Asl
I went off and read the books after the audition and I read all four books in one sitting - you know - didn't wash, didn't eat, drove around with them on the steering wheel like a lunatic. I suddenly understood why my friends, who I'd thought where slightly backward, had been so addicted to these children's books. They're like crack. ~ Jason Isaacs
Coronavirus Books quotes by Jason Isaacs
My overall artistic goal is to marry graphic design with comic books and traditional storytelling. ~ Jonathan Hickman
Coronavirus Books quotes by Jonathan Hickman
Read to your children Twenty minutes a day; You have the time, And so do they. Read while the laundry is in the machine; Read while the dinner cooks; Tuck a child in the crook of your arm And reach for the library books. Hide the remote, Let the computer games cool, For one day your children will be off to school; Remedial? Gifted? You have the choice; Let them hear their first tales In the sound of your voice. Read in the morning; Read over noon; Read by the light of Goodnight Moon. Turn the pages together, Sitting close as you'll fit, Till a small voice beside you says, Hey, don't quit. ~ Richard Peck
