With a ring around the rosary
And a pocket full of crosses
Ashes to ashes
They'll all fall down ~ Matthew Fitzpatrick
Dark Poem quotes by Matthew Fitzpatrick
Have I told you? - your eyes are a dark poem of dancing snow at midnight ... ~ John Geddes
Dark Poem quotes by John Geddes
A dark poem is meant to redeem the dark part. ~ C. K. Williams
Dark Poem quotes by C. K. Williams
She never forgot the day she'd met him, or how his friends had told her to be more than pretty. She never forgot Elizabeth, Yennenga, Abhaya Rani. She wore his gold coin on a chain around her neck until the day she died. But the thing she treasured most was the memory of his smile, a smaile that was a wink and a dare. A wild road on a windy night. A kiss int he dark.
A smile that had given her all she'd ever wanted-a chance.
A chance to be herself. ~ Jennifer Donnelly
Dark Poem quotes by Jennifer Donnelly
Peered down the dark winding stairs and called out coarsely: ~ James Joyce
Dark Poem quotes by James Joyce
She looked at him, watched the lights from the stage flicker over his expression, in the dark depths of his eyes. There was a whole other world in there, she thought and it was hers to explore forever if she would stop being so afraid. ~ Cherrie Lynn
Dark Poem quotes by Cherrie Lynn
That night was different... there was something pulling me towards him. Something dark and sexy. ~ Charles Burns
Dark Poem quotes by Charles Burns
Meg looked. The dark shadow was still there. It had not lessened or dispersed with the coming of night. And where the shadow was, the stars were not visible.
What could there be about a shadow that was so terrible that she knew that there had never been before or ever would be again, anything that would chill her with a fear that was beyond shuddering, beyond crying or screaming, beyond the possibility of comfort? ~ Madeleine L'Engle
Dark Poem quotes by Madeleine L'Engle
Time throws you out of its dimensionless planar like a boomerang. It unites with you again in death. ~ Vishwanath S J
Dark Poem quotes by Vishwanath S J
Benny Imura sat in the dark and spoke with monsters.
It was like that every day.
It had become the pattern of his life. Shadows and blood. And monsters.
Everywhere.
Monsters. ~ Jonathan Maberry
Dark Poem quotes by Jonathan Maberry
He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night. ~ F Scott Fitzgerald
Dark Poem quotes by F Scott Fitzgerald
If this universe is the House of God, then I must say it is quite a dark house despite several hundred billion suns! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Dark Poem quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
I am the saint at prayer on the terrace like the peaceful beasts that graze down to the sea of Palestine.
I am the scholar of the dark armchair. Branches and rain hurl themselves at the windows of my library.
I am the pedestrian of the highroad by way of the dwarf woods; the roar of the sluices drowns my steps. I can see for a long time the melancholy wash of the setting sun.
I might well be the child abandoned on the jetty on its way to the high seas, the little farm boy following the lane, its forehead touching the sky.
The paths are rough. The hillocks are covered with broom. The air is motionless. How far away are the birds and the springs! It can only be the end of the world ahead. ~ Arthur Rimbaud
Dark Poem quotes by Arthur Rimbaud
Evie is our beautiful, dark-haired, green-eyed child,' I say. I can hear the tremor in my voice. 'Like many seven-year-old girls, she's obsessed with princesses. We think she looks more like a fairy. She loves Lego and painting. She laughs easily. She has pretend tea parties in a tree in our garden and invites all her dolls. She wants to be an artist when she grows up. Please find her. Please bring her back to us. We miss her beyond measure. She is the love of our life. ~ Sanjida Kay
Dark Poem quotes by Sanjida Kay
I never knew it could be that intense."
"It's all about reading what your body wants." His eyes were growing dark with lust, and I held the sheet tighter around my body, trying to control the fire that was seeping through my veins. "For instance," he continued, taking my hand and making me stand, "right now, I can tell you want me to touch you."
"H…how can you tell?"
"Your breathing is deeper." Smirking, he moved my hand that was holding onto the sheet. "You keep swallowing, trying to control what you're denying yourself," he whispered, undoing the thin material and letting it drop to the floor so I was standing naked before him. "And now I see the evidence." He chuckled, running his thumbs over my hard nipples before dipping his hand lower into my dripping wet sex. "Oh Jade, I can read you so well already," Oliver smoldered, leaning down to attack one of my nipples with his mouth while his fingers moved in and out of me. I braced myself, using the table to try and stay upright while attempting to adjust to his sudden attack. He had me yelling out his name within minutes. ~ B.L. Wilde
Dark Poem quotes by B.L. Wilde
She was the clock, a clock that had lost its key, unwinding in the dark. ~ Sharon Cameron
Dark Poem quotes by Sharon Cameron
Snow-flakes
By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Out of the bosom of the Air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

Even as our cloudy fancies take
Suddenly shape in some divine expression,
Even as the troubled heart doth make
In the white countenance confession,
The troubled sky reveals
The grief it feels.

This is the poem of the air,
Slowly in silent syllables recorded;
This is the secret of despair,
Long in its cloudy bosom hoarded,
Now whispered and revealed
To wood and field. ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Dark Poem quotes by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
There's one disturbing notion throughout India that light skin is more attractive than dark. ~ Freida Pinto
Dark Poem quotes by Freida Pinto
Thoughts by a graveside are too dark and deep to be sustained for any length of time. Sooner or later the hurt mind turns to the sun for healing, and this is as it should be, for otherwise, what future could any of us hope for, but madness? ~ Miss Read
Dark Poem quotes by Miss Read
The time is short and the hills is dark and I's got miles to go before I sleeps. Is is no easy road. ~ Ian McDonald
Dark Poem quotes by Ian McDonald
I know a woman
who keeps buying puzzles
chinese
puzzles
blocks
wires
pieces that finally fit
into some order.
she works it out
mathmatically
she solves all her
puzzles
lives down by the sea
puts sugar out for the ants
and believes
ultimately
in a better world.
her hair is white
she seldom combs it
her teeth are snaggled
and she wears loose shapeless
coveralls over a body most
women would wish they had.
for many years she irritated me
with what I considered her
eccentricities-
like soaking eggshells in water
(to feed the plants so that
they'd get calcium).
but finally when I think of her
life
and compare it to other lives
more dazzling, original
and beautiful
I realize that she has hurt fewer
people than anybody I know
(and by hurt I simply mean hurt).
she has had some terrible times,
times when maybe I should have
helped her more
for she is the mother of my only
child
and we were once great lovers,
but she has come through
like I said
she has hurt fewer people than
anybody I know,
and if you look at it like that,
well,
she has created a better world.
she has won.
Frances, this poem is for
you. ~ Charles Bukowski
Dark Poem quotes by Charles Bukowski
The sun was just beginning to rise when we reached the corn mill, which surprised me until I remembered that A) England has freakishly early sunrises in the summer, and B) we'd been gone nearly two hours. I was pretty sure I'd never been so wiped out in my entire life. I felt hollow and exhausted, and as I looked at Archer, almost unbearably sad. I tried to tell myself that it was just because I'd been nearly squished by the space-time continuum, but I knew that wasn't it.
I think Archer was feeling something similar, because his hands shook slightly as he lifted the chain from around our necks. It hit the floor with a heavy thump, sending up a cloud of dust motes. They sparkled in the shaft of pale pink light that fell between us, looking surprisingly pretty for dirt.
Archer's face was streaked with sweat, and there was a smudge above his left eyebrow, as well as a dark stain on his torso that was probably ghoul blood. I had a feeling I looked just as rough.
"Well," he said at last, his voice slightly hoarse. "That was the worst first date I've ever been on. ~ Rachel Hawkins
Dark Poem quotes by Rachel Hawkins
I ignored the dark circles under her eyes, just like I ignored the clenching in my stomach that she was starting to bruise more around her hands. ~ Rachel Van Dyken
Dark Poem quotes by Rachel Van Dyken
Sometimes I thought it was a good thing that he had gone blind, because that way he would never see me, never see my face, never see the look on my face when I was with him, which wasn't the look of a prostitute or a thief or a spy, but an expectant look, the look of someone hoping for anything and everything, from a kind word to a life-changing declaration.
There weren't many kind words, because Maciste didn't talk much, but there were kind gestures. And there were no life-changing declarations, or at least none I recognized at the time, though since then I've come to remember each of Maciste's words as a key or a dark bridge that surely could have led me elsewhere, as if he were a fortune-telling machine designed exclusively for me, which I know isn't true, though sometimes I like to think so, not often, because I don't lie to myself the way I used to, but every once in a while. ~ Roberto Bolano
Dark Poem quotes by Roberto Bolano
We're altered, we're abnormal, our souls stained with each other's mark. Our souls are that of monsters born in the dark. ~ Pepper Winters
Dark Poem quotes by Pepper Winters
You have to be a light to yourself in a world that is utterly becoming dark. ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
Dark Poem quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti
The short story narrates the moment when a dark door, long closed, is opened, when a forgotten error is unwittingly repeated, when the fabric of a life is revealed to have been woven from frail and dubious fiber over top of something unknowable and possibly very bad. ~ Michael Chabon
Dark Poem quotes by Michael Chabon
Lines
I die but when the grave shall press
The heart so long endeared to thee
When earthy cares no more distress
And earthy joys are nought to me.
Weep not, but think that I have past
Before thee o'er the sea of gloom.
Have anchored safe and rest at last
Where tears and mouring can not come.
'Tis I should weep to leave thee here
On that dark ocean sailing drear
With storms around and fears before
And no kind light to point the shore.
But long or short though life may be
'Tis nothing to eternity.
We part below to meet on high
Where blissful ages never die. ~ Emily Bronte
Dark Poem quotes by Emily Bronte
A coward judges all he sees by what he is. ~ Stephen King
Dark Poem quotes by Stephen King
Anxiety was an irrational beast. You could go through hell and back, and yet the most seemingly innocuous thing could set off a flurry of panic. ~ Dannika Dark
Dark Poem quotes by Dannika Dark
In my totally unscientific yet enthusiastic survey of Communal Experiments Throughout American History, I've discovered that the thing most likely to break up said experiments is: Sex, all that murky, dark, dirty gunk simmering beneath human relations. ~ Lauren Groff
Dark Poem quotes by Lauren Groff
Do you see? Isn't it incredible?' Wyatt's voice shook with excitement. 'No matter what - when life feels as light as the morning or as dark as the depths of the sea, He's there. His hand leads us and holds us.'

The words prickled and poked and rearranged things inside her, a most unsettling feeling, but it didn't unsettle Wyatt. It energized him. ~ Sarah Sundin
Dark Poem quotes by Sarah Sundin
Everything loses
it's splendour and light
when your lashes flop
over the dark circles
below your eyes.
Asleep. Soft.
With a scent of the
date cookies
you ate as a child. ~ Tatjana Ostojic
Dark Poem quotes by Tatjana Ostojic
When the full moon was out the other night, it created one of the most spectacular scenes that I have seen in the Alps. The high glaciers of the Mont Blanc range were glowing an eerie bright blue-white, and they looked like huge ghost ships in the dark ocean of sky, sailing amongst black mountain valleys.

There were no clouds, and the moon was a huge and perfect disc tracking across the sky, shining on different parts of the glaciers through the night.

Looking up, I saw the black silhouette of the mid-altitude mountains below the ethereal shining high-mountain terrain, which created a weird vision: the ghostly glaciers floating, and appearing separate, contrasting sharply with the dark valleys beneath.

The Aiguille Verte especially, being so steep and isolated, seemed almost like a holographic mast with sails, plowing into the rolling waves, chasing after the Mont Blanc summit with its billowing spinnaker... ~ Steve Baldwin
Dark Poem quotes by Steve Baldwin
There is only you: there is no one else on the telephone: No one else is on the air to whisper:
No one else but you will push the bell. No one knows if you don't; neither ships
Nor landing-fields decode the dark between: You have your eyes and what you see is.
The earth you see …

Joe Murphy's partially memorized Archibald McLeish ~ Will Willingham
Dark Poem quotes by Will Willingham
Czernobog snorted and woke, sitting up slowly. "I dreamed a strange dream," he said. "I dreamed that I am truly Bielebog. That forever the world imagines that there are two of us, the light god and the dark, but that now we are both old, I find it was only me all the time, giving them gifts, taking my gifts away." He broke the filter from a Lucky Strike, put it between his lips and lit it with his lighter. Shadow wound down his window. "Aren't you worried about lung cancer?" he said. "I am cancer," said Czernobog. "I do not frighten myself. ~ Neil Gaiman
Dark Poem quotes by Neil Gaiman
I have never felt a placard and a poem are in any way similar. ~ Kristin Hunter
