{In the shadows where the ancestors sleep, the bird's song is young, but all else is old. Stillness surrounds me and I breathe softly expecting the unexpected.} from book in progress ~ Nancy B. Brewer
Birds Song quotes by Nancy B. Brewer
I never for a day gave up listening to the songs of our birds, or watching their peculiar habits, or delineating them in the best way I could. ~ John James Audubon
Birds Song quotes by John James Audubon
A great many people (not you) do now seem to think that the mere state of being worried is in itself meritorious. I don't think it is. We must, if it so happens, give our lives for others: but even while we're doing it, I think we're meant to enjoy Our Lord and, in Him, our friends, our food, our sleep, our jokes, and the birds' song and the frosty sunrise. ~ C.S. Lewis
Birds Song quotes by C.S. Lewis
I want to live so that everything around me remains clean. I want to think about other people more. Pushing people out of the way and trying to climb over their heads are no good. Chasing nothing but money – that's no good eiher, like knocking your brains out trying to be a little more famous, a little more powerful. To hear the birds song and to say "Ah, they're singing!" To see the flowers and to say "Ah they're blooming!" That,s the way to live. ~ Yasushi Inoue
Birds Song quotes by Yasushi Inoue
There was once a merchant. An eager, industrious young man. His business ... required him to rise early and thus to bed early. But one evening ... he stayed awake past his usual hour ... and in so doing he heard the wondrous singing of something he'd never heard before: a nightbird. The next night, he managed to stay awake later ... to hear more of the bird's song. And the following night. He became so ... so intoxicated with the nightbird's voice that he thought only of it during the day. Came the time when he spent all the night listening to that song. Could not carry out his business during the sunlit hours. Soon he turned his back altogether on the day, and gave himself over to the nightbird's beautiful voice ... much to the sad end of his career, his health ... eventually his life. ~ Anonymous
Birds Song quotes by Anonymous
Is there a more pitiable spectacle than that of a wife contending with others for that charm in her husband's sight which no philters and no prayers can renew when once it has fled forever?
Women are so unwise. Love is like a bird's song beautiful and eloquent when heard in forest freedom, harsh and worthless in repetition when sung from behind prison bars.
You cannot secure love by vigilance, by environment, by captivity. What use is it to keep the person of a man beside you if his soul be truant from you? ~ Ouida
Birds Song quotes by Ouida
In Georgia where children work day and night in the cotton mills they have just passed a bill to protect song birds. What about the little children from whom all song is gone? ~ Mary Harris Jones
Birds Song quotes by Mary Harris Jones
The experience of playing music at a young age really opens up one's mind to different melody in life itself, literally - like, when you've even played a recorder, or whatever, it becomes a lot easier to hear the beauty in a bird's song, or the quiet tune in a gentle rustle of the wind. ~ Dave Smalley
Birds Song quotes by Dave Smalley
When the sunlight hit the trees, all the beauty and wonder come together. Soul unfolds its petals. Flowering and fruiting of plants starts. The birds song light up the spinal column and harmonize the hippocampal functioning. ~ Amit Ray
Birds Song quotes by Amit Ray
I never realized my ugliness till now. When I compared myself with you, I pity myself indeed, poor unhappy monster that I am! I must seem to you like some awful beast, eh? You,-you are a sunbeam, a drop of dew, a bird's song! As for me, I am something frightful, neither man nor beast,- a nondescript object, more hard, shapeless, and more trodden under foot than a pebble! ~ Victor Hugo
Birds Song quotes by Victor Hugo
A walk is exploring surfaces and textures with finger, toe, and - yuck - tongue; standing still and seeing who or what comes by; trying out different forms of locomotion (among them running, marching, high-kicking, galloping, scooting, projectile falling, spinning, and noisy shuffling). It is archeology: exploring the bit of discarded candy wrapper; collecting a fistful of pebbles and a twig and a torn corner of a paperback; swishing dirt back and forth along the ground. It is stopping to admire the murmuring of the breeze in the trees; locating the source of the bird's song; pointing. Pointing! - using the arm to extend one's fallen gaze so someone else can see what you've seen. It is a time of sharing. On our block, ~ Alexandra Horowitz
Birds Song quotes by Alexandra Horowitz
I always wished a little that the church was not a church, set off as it was behind its barriers of doctrine and creed, so that all the people of the town and neighborhood might two or three times a week freely have come there and sat down together - though I knew perfectly well that, in the actual world, any gathering would exclude some, and some would not consent to be gathered, and some (like me) would be outside even when inside.

I liked the naturally occurring silences - the one, for instance, just before the service began and the other, the briefest imaginable, just after the last Amen. Occasionally a preacher would come who had a little bias toward silence, and then my attendance would become purposeful. At a certain point in the service the preacher would ask that we observe a moment of silence . . . And then the quiet that was almost the quiet of the empty church would come over us and unite us as we were not united even in singing, and the little sounds (maybe a bird's song) from the world outside would come in to us, and we would completely hear it.

But always too soon the preacher would become abashed (after all, he was being paid to talk) and start a prayer, and the beautiful moment would end. I would think again how I would like for us all just to go there from time to time and sit in silence. Maybe I am a Quaker of sorts, but I am told that the Quakers sometimes speak at their meetings. I would've preferred no talk, no noise at all. ~ Wendell Berry
Birds Song quotes by Wendell Berry
There's no comfort I can give,
that will ease her pain,
and make her see that she's the
perfect storm ~ Kristan Billups
Birds Song quotes by Kristan Billups
I woke up one morning with this song in my head, and the opening line of the song is, 'My name was Richard Nixon, only now I'm a girl.' ~ Bruce Cockburn
Birds Song quotes by Bruce Cockburn
I like music because ... its expressive, you can convey whatever you're thinking through a song. And it's the best respite for me anyway to do it through music. So I like music because you can express and let your soul out through it. ~ Paolo Nutini
Birds Song quotes by Paolo Nutini
Sometimes Raymond wonders what it is like to be a duck: What is it like to have a facial expression so frozen that no one, not even another duck, can tell if you are in pain?
It must be safe in one way, but then sooner or later the hunters come along and say to each other:"Hey, look at those birds out there, bobbing on the pond. We can shoot them because they can't feel emotion."
But that's not true, Raymond thinks. Not even a little bit. ~ Jim Krusoe
Birds Song quotes by Jim Krusoe
I just felt like I'd rather listen to even the worst metal song more than most current pop music. ~ Brian Posehn
Birds Song quotes by Brian Posehn
I started being me about the songs, not writing objectively, but subjectively. I think it was Dylan who helped me realize that - not by any discussion or anything, but by hearing his work. ~ John Lennon
Birds Song quotes by John Lennon
I've always written songs the same way. You learn different tricks - you learn craft, you learn structure, all that - as you go. ~ Taylor Swift
Birds Song quotes by Taylor Swift
Listening to the siren song of more, we are deaf to the still small voice waiting in our soul to whisper, 'You're enough. ~ Julia Cameron
Birds Song quotes by Julia Cameron
Just like the waves of the ocean, my heart is singing the song of endless, eternal, sadness, joy, and love. ~ Debasish Mridha
Birds Song quotes by Debasish Mridha
It is always beneficial to praise the Lord; it cheers the day and brightens the night; it lightens toil and softens sorrow; and over earthly gladness it sheds a sanctifying radiance which makes it less liable to blind us with its glare. Have we not something to sing about at this moment? Can we not weave a song out of our present joys, or our past deliverances, or our future hopes? ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Birds Song quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Every bird, every tree, every flower reminds me what a blessing and privilege it is just to be alive. ~ Marty Rubin
Birds Song quotes by Marty Rubin
Children are our crop, our fields, our earth. They are birds let loose into darkness. They are errors renewed. Still, they are the only source from which may be drawn a life more successful, more knowing than our own. Somehow they will do one thing, take one step further, they will see the summit. We believe in it, the radiance that streams from the future, from days we will not see. Children must live, must triumph. Children must die; that is an idea we cannot accept. ~ James Salter
Birds Song quotes by James Salter
Daughter, daughter, shining bright
Precious jewel within mine sight
Oh, if I could soar with thee
As you seek your destiny.

To see with you the caves and skies
Vistas grand beneath your eyes
Taking wing to horizons new
Let us wonder who waits for you.

A dragon bright?
A dragon dark?
Victor of duels with battle mark?
A dragon strong?
A dragon keen?
Singer of honors and triumphs seen?

Red, Gold, Bronze, and Blue
To your lord you shall be true,
Copper, Silver, Black, and White,
Who will win your mating flight?

For in your hearts our future rests
To see our line with hatchlings blessed
And for those who threaten clutch of flame,
To feel the wrath of dragon-dame. ~ E.E. Knight
Birds Song quotes by E.E. Knight
I do believe we should push each other to write better songs and make better music. We do ourselves a disservice if we sit back and float along the river instead of trying to paddle and guide ourselves to a more creative place. ~ Bonnie Baker
Birds Song quotes by Bonnie Baker
Sex without foreplay is like song's reff without intro. ~ Toba Beta
Birds Song quotes by Toba Beta
People will pay for great services. They said they wouldn't pay 99 cents for a song but they did. We've always believed that. When you go to work, you don't work for free; nobody works for free. Nobody can say, "I want to work for free." Nobody says that. ~ Eddy Cue
Birds Song quotes by Eddy Cue
The real issues I don't think most people touch. The Clinton jokes are all about Monica Lewinsky and all that stuff and not about the important things, like the fact that he wouldn't ban landmines ... I'm not tempted to write a song about George W. Bush. I couldn't figure out what sort of song I would write. That's the problem: I don't want to satirize George Bush and his puppeteers, I want to vaporize them. And that's not funny ... OK, well, if I say that, I might get a shock laugh, but it's not really satire. ~ Tom Lehrer
Birds Song quotes by Tom Lehrer
I never really sounded like Bird, but that was my mission. I didn't care if people said that I copied him; I loved Bird's playing so much. But Mingus was the one that really pushed me away from the idea and forced me into thinking about having an individual sound and concept. That's what I got from Mingus. ~ Jackie McLean
Birds Song quotes by Jackie McLean
My audition song is, and has been since 1977, 'I Love a Piano.' ~ Bebe Neuwirth
Birds Song quotes by Bebe Neuwirth
What! All this for a song? ~ William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley
Birds Song quotes by William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley
No matter what heaven you believe in, your time on this earth will end. What I'm saying is that you should listen - really listen - to the slosh of the waves and the distant call of Pacific birds. You should feel a boy's pulse against your cheek; you should fill your lungs with ocean air. While you can, I mean. You should do these things while you still can. ~ Emery Lord
Birds Song quotes by Emery Lord
I think singing and acting go hand in hand. Take an R&B singer: one song says, 'I love you,' the next is, 'Baby, don't leave me', the next is, 'If you leave me I don't care.' You have to drop in and out of different perspectives. ~ Ice-T
Birds Song quotes by Ice-T
The way a musical can make us feel is unlike anything else, in song and particularly in dance. I think people fly through plate-glass windows when they get shot because movies don't have dance scenes any more. This is what we do instead. ~ Joss Whedon
Birds Song quotes by Joss Whedon
It's all a big hoax, honey. I never wrote a song in my life. I get one-third of the credit for recording it. It makes me look smarter than I am. I've never even had an idea for a song. Just once, mybe. ~ Elvis Presley
Birds Song quotes by Elvis Presley
As a songwriter, there's nothing better than winning Song Of The Year. But I couldn't really celebrate, because it wasn't right. Luther wasn't standing next to me, to receive the award. ~ Richard Marx
Birds Song quotes by Richard Marx
I'd much rather be worrying about playing that note in tune, and picking out the best way to arrange the song, rather than thinking about pricing for the download. It's not art. ~ Trent Reznor
Birds Song quotes by Trent Reznor
If Jimmy indeed cracked corn and you truly didn't care, why the fuck did you write a song about it? I call bullshit. ~ Jim Goad
Birds Song quotes by Jim Goad
You're just like, "I like doing this - it's something I have a lot of passion for." You happen to do it, you enjoy songwriting, and eventually if you're writing enough songs, then you fall into it. ~ Vance Joy
Birds Song quotes by Vance Joy
My dad is adorably optimistic, positive, pie-in-the-sky. He thinks every new song I write is my best. He sells T-shirts at my merchandise stands and hands out guitar picks to fans. ~ Taylor Swift
Birds Song quotes by Taylor Swift
The song 'Some Other Time ... ' is full of emotion. In wartime, it had a tremendously poignant feeling. ~ Betty Comden
Birds Song quotes by Betty Comden
How shall I hold my soul that it may not
Be touching yours? How shall I lift it then
Above you to where other things are waiting?
Ah, gladly would I lodge it, all forgot,
With some lost thing the dark is isolating
On some remote and silent spot that, when
Your depths vibrate, is not itself vibrating.
You and me – all that lights upon us though,
Brings us together like a fiddle bow
Drawing one voice from two strings, it glides along.
Across what instrument have we been spanned?
And what violinist holds us in his hand?
O sweetest song. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
Birds Song quotes by Rainer Maria Rilke
To be part of Kevin's [Drew] world, "Who Came First" is just kind of a magical symphony. If you're asking me what that emotional timbre what is my favorite, my favorite "why" is the question. The other songs also have a revealing quality, but it started with "Sister OK". ~ Andy Kim
Birds Song quotes by Andy Kim
It's rewarding to know that a song is doing more than just helping someone to have a nice day: it's actually leaving a deposit in their lives. ~ Natalie Grant
Birds Song quotes by Natalie Grant
She's somewhere in the sunlight strong, / Her tears are in the falling rain, / She calls me in the wind's soft song, / And with the flowers she comes again. ~ Richard Le Gallienne
Birds Song quotes by Richard Le Gallienne
The heart so tender and young,
Cannot undo-
The song that has been sung!

This feeling I have forever!
I regret -
That I can't forget
& you don't remember! ~ Somya Kedia
Birds Song quotes by Somya Kedia
In the loudest voice I could muster, I shouted, "As of this moment, you are no longer the armies of China, Macedonia, Myanmar, Tibet or India. You are now warriors of Durga! We have already fought and overcome many fierce creatures. Now we give you the symbol of their power."
I borrowed the Scarf and touched it to my Pearl Necklace. The silken material sped down each and every soldier to cloak them in the most brilliant red, blue, green, gold and white. Even the flag bearers were not left out and now held banners depicting Durga riding her tiger into battle.
"Red for the heart of a Phoenix that sees through falsehood!" I cheered and raided the trident. "Blue for the Monsters of the Deep that rip apart those who dare to cross their domain! Gold for Metal Birds that cut their enemies with razor beaks! Green for the Horde of Hanuman that comes alive to protect that which is most precious! And white for the Dragons of the Five Oceans, whose cunning and power has no equal! ~ Colleen Houck
