It turned out he wasn't just a poet. He was also a politician, a teacher, a lawyer, a scholar, and a knight. I thought one dream was enough for a person, but reading his story, I learned some people could hold on to many different dreams and see them all come true. ~ Aisha Saeed

You that performs all day
When will you remove that mask. ~ Gabriel Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Gabriel Iqbal
It is the lot of man to share in the deeper aspirations of the universe around him and to share his own destiny as well as that of the universe, now by adjusting himself to its forces, now by putting the whole of his energy to his own ends and purposes. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
...even if all they did was look at each other, it rattled her entire being because there was no thought or person or barrier between them. Not a single one. They were both thoroughly absorbed in every moment they spent together. It was terrifying. Like being swept away by a powerful wind, where your body rendered all its control to another force that could ignite as well as destroy you. ~ Anam Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Anam Iqbal
Hatred is a louder exhibition of inability. ~ Qaisar Iqbal Janjua
Allama Iqbal quotes by Qaisar Iqbal Janjua
He was the one for her. She somehow knew that no one could make her feel the way did. Not if she lived for another hundred years. ~ Anam Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Anam Iqbal
The poet's nature is all searching, creator and nourisher of desire; the poet is like the heart in a people's breast, a people without a poet is a mere heap of clay. If the purpose of poetry is the fashioning of men, poetry is likewise the heir of prophecy. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Barack Obama has talked a lot about changing the way America relates to the world, and few areas are as ripe for reform as our policies on foreign aid. ~ Iqbal Quadir
Allama Iqbal quotes by Iqbal Quadir
An obstacle to the learning is to overlook the students mental level of learning by teachers. Good teachers have a power to make difference between the level of individuals rather than comparing with themselves. ~ Shahid Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Shahid Iqbal
I spend these days in confusion, trying my best to fathom the significance of that shade....

Trying to fathom the suitable answers to my ambiguities, if they can be called as such." - Basil ~ Amna Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Amna Iqbal
The idea that thought is essentially finite, and for this reason unable to capture the Infinite, is based on a mistaken notion of the movement of thought in knowledge. It is the inadequacy of the logical understanding which finds a multiplicity of mutually repellent individualities with no prospect of their ultimate reduction to a unity that makes us sceptical about the conclusiveness of thought. In fact, the logical understanding is incapable of seeing this multiplicity as a coherent universe. Its only method is generalization based on resemblances, but its generalizations are only fictitious unities which do not affect the reality of concrete things. In its deeper movement, however, thought is capable of reaching an immanent Infinite in whose self-unfolding movement the various finite concepts are merely moments. In its essential nature, then, thought is not static; it is dynamic and unfolds its internal infinitude in time like the seed which, from the very beginning, carries within itself the organic unity of the tree as a present fact. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Life is beautiful
only if the eyes of the heart are beautiful
It looks almost catastrophic via the mind
Measuring, quibbling and boasting
Let the heart control the mind
and we are off to the next Galaxy
both inward and outward. ~ Gabriel Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Gabriel Iqbal
As he left, he saw the streets were just as deserted and quiet as before, but now he knew it was an illusion. There were ninjas, darker than a starless night, watching their territory and his every move from the rooftops high above. ~ Anam Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Anam Iqbal
A great thinker does not necessarily have to discover a master idea but has to rediscover and to affirm a true but forgotten, ignored or misunderstood master idea and interpret it in all the diverse aspects of thought not previously done, in a powerful and consistent way, despite surrounding ignorance and opposition. This criterion we think would include all prophets and their true followers among the Muslim scholars. He is both a great and original thinker who brings new meanings and interpretations to old ideas, thereby providing both continuity and originality to the important intellectual and cultural problems of his time and through it, of mankind. Thus the brilliant interpretations of scholars and sages like al-Ghazali and Mulla Sadra then, and Iqbal and al-Attas now, deserve to be recognized and acknowledged as manifesting certain qualities of greatness and originality. ~ Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud
Allama Iqbal quotes by Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud
Life is a struggle and not a matter of privilege. It is nothing but one's knowledge of the temporal and the spiritual world. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
The wing of the Falcon brings to the king, the wing if the crow brings him to the cemetery. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Maa tujhe salaam
pher lete hai nazar jis waqt bete or bahu..
ajnabi apne hi ghar me hae ban jati hai maaa.. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
British physician, West African Countries and Peoples Man's place is higher than the sky. Respect for man is the underlying spirit of civilization. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
I have already indicated to you the meaning of the word religion, as applied to Islam. The truth is that Islam is not a Church. It is a State conceived as a contractual organism long before Rousseau ever thought of such a thing, and animated by an ethical ideal which regards man not as an earth-rooted creature, defined by this or that portion of the earth, but as a spiritual being understood in terms of a social mechanism, and possessing rights and duties as a living factor in that mechanism. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
She was floating in the midst of a black sea, in the darkest of nights, with no hope or care to see light again. She was a mere wave away from drowning in blackness. ~ Anam Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Anam Iqbal
Muhammad Iqbal, who had spent three rewarding years as a student in Europe in the first decade of the twentieth century, now wrote of it in the satirical tradition of the Illahabadi:
The West develops wonderful new skills
In this as in so many other fields
Its submarines are crocodiles
Its bombers rain destruction from the skies
Its gases so obscure the sky
They blind the sun's world-seeing eye
Dispatch this old fool to the West
To learn the art of killing fast- and best
On his previous trips to the West, Liang, like Tagore and Iqbal, had been a qualified admirer. During his longest sojourn there, he began to develop grave doubts about the civilization that had so blithely thrown away the fruits of progress and rationalism and sunk into barbarism. The 'materialist' West had managed to subdue nature through science and technology and created a Darwinian universe of conflict between individuals, classes and nations. But to what effect? Its materialistic people, constantly desiring ever-new things and constantly being frustrated, were worn out by war, were afflicted with insecurity, and were as far from happiness as ever. ~ Pankaj Mishra
Allama Iqbal quotes by Pankaj Mishra
The scientific observer of Nature is a kind of mystic seeker in the act of prayer. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Islam is itself destiny and will not suffer destiny. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
The flesh of the body does not make it conscious
its the unknown inside that does.
The arms of the galaxy do not make it turn around
its the unknown that holds it together and spin around.
The mind does not create the thought
it's the unknown consciousness
that is plugged to myriad's of portals that does.
A thing of beauty is not made of brick and mortar
it's made of an unknown divine spark.
The world is essentially that unknown
Drop the act and connect to the unknown. ~ Gabriel Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Gabriel Iqbal
All the power
in the
Cosmos
Exists
Inside You
Seek it not elsewhere. ~ Gabriel Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Gabriel Iqbal
Just as entrepreneurs developed America, they can develop other countries, too. ~ Iqbal Quadir
Allama Iqbal quotes by Iqbal Quadir
The highest art is that which awakens our dormant will-force, and nerves us to face the trials of life manfully. All that brings drowsiness and makes us shut our eyes to reality around-on the mastery of which alone life dependsis a message of decay and death. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Unbeliever is he who follows predestination even if he be Muslim, Faithful is he, if he himself is the Divine Destiny. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Plants and minerals are bound to predestination. The faithful is only bound to the Divine orders. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Khird-Mandon Se Kya Puchon Ke Meri Ibtida Kya Hai
Ke Main Iss Fikar Mein Rehta Hun, Meri Intiha Kya Hai

What should I ask the sages about my origin:
I am always wanting to know my goal. ~ Muhammad Iqbal, Sir
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal, Sir
He darted for her; his blade wielded smooth and steady in front of him. She didn't hold back either; when they joined, their weapons clanked and sparked with an icy rage. They danced around one another; their feet light yet balanced, their arms twisting and turning with every thundering blow they made. ~ Anam Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Anam Iqbal
The ultimate aim of the ego is not to see something, but to be something. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
Divine life is in touch with the whole universe on the analogy of the soul's contact with the body. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
In America, people buy cars, and they put very little money down. They get a car, and they go to work. The work pays them a salary; the salary allows them to pay for the car over time. The car pays for itself. ~ Iqbal Quadir
Allama Iqbal quotes by Iqbal Quadir
The reality of the Islamic metaphysical world was not taken seriously despite the fact that Iqbal, who was the ideological founder of Pakistan, had shown much interest in Islamic philosophy, although I do not think that he is really a traditional Islamic philosopher. He himself was influenced by Western philosophy, but at least was intelligent enough to realize the significance of Islamic philosophy. The problem with him was that he did not know Arabic well enough. His Persian was very good, but he could not read all the major texts of Islamic philoso- phy, which are written mostly in Arabic. Nevertheless, he wrote on the development of metaphysics in Persia, and he had some philosophical substance, much more than the other famous reformers who are men- tioned all the time, such as Sir Syed Ahmad Khan or Muh:ammad 'Abduh. ~ Seyyed Hossein Nasr
Allama Iqbal quotes by Seyyed Hossein Nasr
I tell the truth: your enemy is also your friend-his presence makes your life fuller and richer. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Iqbal quotes by Muhammad Iqbal
I would like to see the Punjab, North-West Frontier Province, Sind and Baluchistan amalgamated into a single State. Self-government within the British Empire, or without the British Empire, the formation of a consolidated North-West Indian Muslim State appears to me to be the final destiny of the Muslims, at least of North-West India. ~ Muhammad Iqbal
