No individual and no nation need fear at any time to have less money than it needs. Government measures designed to regulate the international movement of money in order to ensure that the community shall have the amount it needs, are just as unnecessary and inappropriate as, say, intervention to ensure a sufficiency or corn or iron or the like. This argument dealt the Mercantilist Theory its death-blow. ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Kaifer Corn quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
So did The Eye come here looking for me?"
"Actually, we came because we heard it was free corn dog night. Imagine our disappointment. ~ Rachel Hawkins
Kaifer Corn quotes by Rachel Hawkins
More. Give me more.
I don't know if you're ready for this. He's shirtless.
You're killing me. Is he built?
Like a Greek god.
Nooooo.....so unfair. I don't have any hot neighbors, just acres and acres of corn fields. ~ Sue Barr
Kaifer Corn quotes by Sue Barr
And so it began, I thought, the first wave of a revolution against oppression, fought with corn syrup and chocolate. ~ Chloe Neill
Kaifer Corn quotes by Chloe Neill
But you, cloudless girl, question of smoke, corn tassel.
You were what the wind was making with illuminated leaves.
Behind the nocturnal mountains, white lily of conflagration,
ah, I can say nothing! You were made of everything. ~ Pablo Neruda
Kaifer Corn quotes by Pablo Neruda
Corn is an efficient way to get energy calories off the land and soybeans are an efficient way of getting protein off the land, so we've designed a food system that produces a lot of cheap corn and soybeans resulting in a lot of cheap fast food. ~ Michael Pollan
Kaifer Corn quotes by Michael Pollan
What is the price of Experience? Do men buy it for a song?
Or wisdom for a dance in the street? No, it is bought with the price
Of all that a man hath, his house, his wife, his children
Wisdom is sold in the desolate market where none come to buy
And in the wither'd field where the farmer ploughs for bread in vain

It is an easy thing to triumph in the summer's sun
And in the vintage and to sing on the waggon loaded with corn
It is an easy thing to talk of patience to the afflicted
To speak the laws of prudence to the homeless wanderer
To listen to the hungry raven's cry in wintry season
When the red blood is fill'd with wine and with the marrow of lambs

It is an easy thing to laugh at wrathful elements
To hear the dog howl at the wintry door, the ox in the slaughterhouse moan;
To see a god on every wind and a blessing on every blast
To hear sounds of love in the thunderstorm that destroys our enemies' house;
To rejoice in the blight that covers his field and the sickness that cuts off his children
While our olive and vine sing and laugh round our door and our children bring fruits and flowers

Then the groan and the dolour are quite forgotten and the slave grinding at the mill
And the captive in chains and the poor in the prison and the soldier in the field
When the shatter'd bone hath laid him groaning among the happier dead
It is an easy thing to rejoic ~ William Blake
Kaifer Corn quotes by William Blake
If Jimmy indeed cracked corn and you truly didn't care, why the fuck did you write a song about it? I call bullshit. ~ Jim Goad
Kaifer Corn quotes by Jim Goad
In the morning they rose in a house pungent with breakfast cookery, and they sat at a smoking table loaded with brains and eggs, ham, hot biscuit, fried apples seething in their gummed syrups, honey, golden butter, fried steak, scalding coffee. Or there were stacked batter-cakes, rum-colored molasses, fragrant brown sausages, a bowl of wet cherries, plums, fat juicy bacon, jam. At the mid-day meal, they ate heavily: a huge hot roast of beef, fat buttered lima- beans, tender corn smoking on the cob, thick red slabs of sliced tomatoes, rough savory spinach, hot yellow corn-bread, flaky biscuits, a deep-dish peach and apple cobbler spiced with cinnamon, tender cabbage, deep glass dishes piled with preserved fruits-- cherries, pears, peaches. At night they might eat fried steak, hot squares of grits fried in egg and butter, pork-chops, fish, young fried chicken. ~ Thomas Wolfe
Kaifer Corn quotes by Thomas Wolfe
It is dangerous to leave written that which is badly written.
A chance word, upon paper, may destroy the world. Watch carefully and erase, while the power is still yours, I say to myself, for all that is put down, once it escapes, may rot its way into a thousand minds, the corn become a black smut, and all libraries, of necessity, be burned to the ground as a consequence.
Only one answer: write carelessly so that nothing that is not green will survive. ~ William Carlos Williams
Kaifer Corn quotes by William Carlos Williams
The lucky ones died in the blasts. They were spared the fate of starvation, cannibalism, rape and slaughter. Where a man could be killed over half-eaten can of corn. ~ Joe Reyes
Kaifer Corn quotes by Joe Reyes
I don't mind parting with the corn, but not with the field in which it was raised. ~ John Constable
Kaifer Corn quotes by John Constable
Heap high the farmer's wintry hoard! Heap high the golden corn! No richer gift has Autumn poured From out her lavish horn! ~ John Greenleaf Whittier
Kaifer Corn quotes by John Greenleaf Whittier
Most of what's known about religious practices in pre-Hispanic Mexico has come to us through a Catholic parish priest named Hernando Ruiz de Alarcón, one of the few who ever became fluent in the Nahuatl language. He spent the 1620s writing his "Treatise on the Superstitions and Heathen Customs that Today Live Among the Indians Native to This New Spain". He'd originally meant it to be something of a "field guide to the heathens" to help priests recognize and exterminate indigenous religious rites and their practitioners. In the process of his documentation, though, it's clear from his writings that Father Ruiz de Alarcón grew sympathetic. He was particularly fascinated with how Nahuatl people celebrated the sacred in ordinary objects, and encouraged living and spirit realities to meet up in the here and now. He noted that the concept of "death" as an ending did not exactly exist for them. When Aztec people left their bodies, they were presumed to be on an exciting trip through the ether. It wasn't something to cry about, except that the living still wanted to visit with them. People's sadness was not for the departed, but for themselves, and could be addressed through ritual visiting called Xantolo, an ordinary communion between the dead and the living. Mexican tradition still holds that Xantolo is always present in certain places and activities, including marigold fields, the cultivation of corn, the preparation of tamales and pan de muerto. Interestingly, farmers' markets ar ~ Barbara Kingsolver
Kaifer Corn quotes by Barbara Kingsolver
I did a 'Children of the Corn' remake for Sci Fi Channel. I play the Peter Horton role from the original, and Candace McClure from 'Battlestar Galactica' is my Linda Hamilton. ~ David Anders
Kaifer Corn quotes by David Anders
Corn is the leading food and feed crop of the United States in geographic range of production, acreage, and quantity of product. The vital importance of a large acreage of this crop, properly cared for, therefore, is obvious. ~ David F. Houston
Kaifer Corn quotes by David F. Houston
The other day Aks and I went up to your ranch for a day's fishing. I cannot remember any day when we have had more fun on a stream. We had along with us three newspaper men and a few secret service people, many of whom had never seen a trout stream, so we did the thing up right by borrowing frying pans, bacon and corn meal from the wife of your rancher - and we cooked an outdoor meal for the crowd. It was really quite a day. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
Kaifer Corn quotes by Dwight D. Eisenhower
Now for positivity. The Greatest Generation freed our Jewish brothers and sisters from horrors we can not even imagine. All we are asked to do is stay home. Kinda put things into prospective. Now for me to be blunt. This is a pandemic. It's going to get a lot worse. BUT know this. It does get better. SO do you part. Stay in. Order take away. DO TIP!!! Do you! Listen a great song, watch some comedy, listen to a podcast. Just take this seriously and you likely will live! ~ Johnny Corn
Kaifer Corn quotes by Johnny Corn
Why does the United States spend more than $20 billion a year on farm programs but less than $4 billion a year on education and early care for children in the critical first two years of life? Are corn and soybeans really a higher priority for America's future than our children? ~ Nicholas D. Kristof
Kaifer Corn quotes by Nicholas D. Kristof
A girl and a boy, sitting lazily cross-legged under a pale green willow, picking at the grass. She is lying with her head in his lap, long red hair fanned against his knee. Her skin is not my unnatural red but like honeyed cream. She grins up at him, his eyes the color of an evergreen forest, of dragonfly wings, his corn-gold, too-long hair falling over his forehead. And she laughs. When she does her back, her throat arches slightly, and he blushes. He smells of wheat fields and fallen autumn apples soft against the earth, and it is a smell she knows like her own. Under the filmy reed-curtain of the old willow tree, they hold hands and talk quietly, shoes discarded like peach pits. The sun is low in the sky, warm and orange-gold on their young faces, their strong white smiles and freshly washed hair. The light spills onto their shoulders like water from a well. There are sharp-smelling rosemary branches braided into her hair, with their little blue blossoms, and the oil is on their brown fingers. The boy whispers something in the girl's ear, and she closes her eyes, lashes smoking cheekbones like bundles of sage. ~ Catherynne M. Valente
Kaifer Corn quotes by Catherynne M. Valente
I think of magazines as cultural entities rather than boxes of corn flakes that can be sold and shipped around. ~ Wayne Grady
Kaifer Corn quotes by Wayne Grady
We weed out the darnel from the corn and the unfit in war, but do not excuse evil men from the service of the state. ~ Antisthenes
Kaifer Corn quotes by Antisthenes
Corn is a greedy crop, as farmers will tell you. ~ Michael Pollan
Kaifer Corn quotes by Michael Pollan
Hope sold, of course, and well; it was the corn syrup of existence, fast burning and addictive. ~ Aleksandar Hemon
Kaifer Corn quotes by Aleksandar Hemon
Elegy (1586)

My prime of youth is but a frost of cares;
My feast of joy is but a dish of pain,
My crop of corn is but a field of tares,
And all my good is but vain hope of gain:
The day is past, and yet I saw no sun,
And now I live, and now my life is done.

My tale was heard, and yet it was not told,
My fruit is fallen, and yet my leaves are green,
My youth is spent, and yet I am not old,
I saw the world, and yet I was not seen:
My thread is cut, and yet it is not spun,
And now I live, and now my life is done.

I sought my death, and found it in my womb,
I looked for life, and saw it was a shade,
I trod the earth, and knew it was my tomb,
And now I die, and now I was but made;
The glass is full, and now the glass is run,
And now I live, and now my life is done. ~ Chidiock Tichborne
Kaifer Corn quotes by Chidiock Tichborne
If I am a witch, then so be it, I said. And I took to eating black things - huitlacoche the corn mushroom, coffee, dark chiles, the bruised part of fruit, the darkest, blackest things to make me hard and strong. ~ Sandra Cisneros
Kaifer Corn quotes by Sandra Cisneros
A windy March is lucky. Every pint of March dust brings a peck of September corn, and a pound of October cotton. ~ Julia Peterkin
Kaifer Corn quotes by Julia Peterkin
Characteristically skeptical of the idea that living things would faithfully follow mathematical formulas, [Robert Harper] seized upon factors in corn which seemed to blend in the hybrid-rather than be represented by plus or minus signs, and put several seasons into throwing doubt upon the concept of immutable hypothetical units of inheritance concocted to account for selected results. ~ Charles Thom
Kaifer Corn quotes by Charles Thom
Take the juice of one lime and add it to two cups of diced watermelon, one cup of diced and peeled cucumber, three or four sliced green onions, a couple of tablespoons of fresh cilantro that's been cut very fine, two teaspoons of jalapeno peppers cut up just as fine, or more if you want it hotter, and a teaspoon of sugar. It's the best thing in the world with fresh fried corn tortilla chips, ~ Carolyn Brown
Kaifer Corn quotes by Carolyn Brown
Corn wind in the fall, come off the black lands, come off the whisper of the silk hangers, the lap of the flat spear leaves. ~ Carl Sandburg
Kaifer Corn quotes by Carl Sandburg
Trying to chase that old white man out of my head. I been so busy thinking bout him I never truly notice nothing God make. Not a blade of corn (how it do that?) not the color purple (where it come from?). Not the little wildflowers. Nothing. ~ Alice Walker
Kaifer Corn quotes by Alice Walker
If you really could fit God in a file, you wouldn't need to believe in God, you know, you'd just go get the file like a box of corn flakes off the shelf. ~ Mitch Albom
Kaifer Corn quotes by Mitch Albom
corn maque choux. He ~ Rachel Harris
Kaifer Corn quotes by Rachel Harris
Chapter the Eleventh: In Which the Plot, Behaving in Much the Manner Of a Soup to which Corn Starch Has been Added, Begins, at Last, to Thicken. ~ Steven Brust
Kaifer Corn quotes by Steven Brust
Creation is built upon the promise of hope, that things will get better, that tomorrow will be better than the day before.

But it's not true. Cities collapse. Populations expand. Environments decay. People get ruder. You can't go to a movie without getting in a fight with the guy in the third row who won't shut up.

Filthy streets. Drive-by shootings. Irradiated corn. Permissible amounts of rat-droppings per hot dog. Bomb blasts, and body counts. Terror in the streets, on camera, in your living room. Aids and Ebola and Hepatitis B and you can't touch anyone because you're afraid you'll catch something besides love and nothing tastes as good anymore and Christopher Reeve is [dead] and love is statistically false.

Pocket nukes and subway anthrax. You grow up frustrated, you live confused, you age frightened, you die alone. Safe terrain moves from your city to your block to your yard to your home to your living room to the bedroom and all you want is to be allowed to live without somebody breaking in to steal your tv and shove an ice-pick in your ear.

That sound like a better world to you? That sound to you like a promise kept? ~ J. Michael Straczynski
Kaifer Corn quotes by J. Michael Straczynski
For decades, chalk and alum have been added to bread, and burnt corn and peas ground up to make coffee. Vinegar is rendered sharper by the addition of sulphuric acid, arrowroot is added to milk to thicken it, mustard is eked out with flour, strychnine is added to beer for bitterness and green vitriol to encourage a foaming head. And these are but the harmless manipulations. ~ M.J. Carter
Kaifer Corn quotes by M.J. Carter
The economic logic of gathering so many animals together to feed them cheap corn in CAFOs is hard to argue with; it has made meat, which used to be a special occasion in most American homes, so cheap and abundant that many of us now eat it three times a day. Not so compelling is the biological logic behind this cheap meat. Already in their short history CAFOs have produced more than their share of environmental and health problems: polluted water and air, toxic wastes, novel and deadly pathogens. ~ Michael Pollan
Kaifer Corn quotes by Michael Pollan
The great thing about candy is that it can't be spoiled by the adult world. Candy is innocent. And all Halloween candy pales next to candy corn, if only because candy corn used to appear, like the Great Pumpkin, solely on Halloween. ~ Rosecrans Baldwin
Kaifer Corn quotes by Rosecrans Baldwin
Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground. ~ Terry Pratchett
Kaifer Corn quotes by Terry Pratchett
Corn is a necessary, silver is only a superfluity. ~ Adam Smith
