I walk up right behind Frannie, where she's sitting near the door, in time to hear her say, "You know what, Tay? Go to Hell," and I smile, because I think it's cute that she's inviting her friends along. ~ Lisa Desrochers
Frannie quotes by Lisa Desrochers
When someone harms those whom we love, we must do as we must. And I had always loved Frannie. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
In those years when their mother disappeared into herself, and old Mrs Jeffrey next door turned into Frannie, their honorary grandmother, Alice also taught herself how to change light bulbs, fix running toilets and cook chops and veggies while Elisabeth learned how to demand refunds, pay bills, fill in forms and talk to strangers. ~ Liane Moriarty
Frannie quotes by Liane Moriarty
If you'll just settle down and listen, I'll explain." Cautiously, he turned her around so she faced him. Then, before she could protest, he looked at her mouth, appeared drawn there and he started kissing her again, light, teasing kisses. "I swear, Frannie, you have the sexiest mouth."

"In about two seconds, I'm going to unman you with my knee." He released her and stepped back so quickly, she almost smiled. "Now, if you insist, you can explain while you help me move my stuff."

-Booker and Frannie ~ Lori Foster
Frannie quotes by Lori Foster
Frannie, sweetheart," Noc whispered, ~ Kristen Ashley
Frannie quotes by Kristen Ashley
Life is a journey, Frannie darling," Feagan had once told me. "Choose well those with whom you travel."
As always, I've followed Feagan's counsel. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
I don't trust good fortune that comes so easily. There is always a price to be paid, Frannie. Always." He gave her a cocky grin. "I want to know the price before I have to pay it. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
I dislike weeping", I muttered.
"God gave us a variety of ways to get hurt out and do it clean. Blood cleans a wound, tears clean a different kind of wound... ~ Kristen Ashley
Frannie quotes by Kristen Ashley
Once, when our paths crossed, he told me that the kindest thing I'd ever done was to not marry him. Perhaps because he was passionately in love with a woman who possessed the wisdom to adore him as he deserved. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
In the writings of many contemporary psychics and mystics (e.g., Gopi Krishna, Shri Rajneesh, Frannie Steiger, John White, Hal Lindsay, and several dozen others whose names I have mercifully forgotten) there is a repeated prediction that the Earth is about to be afflicted with unprecedented calamities, including every possible type of natural catastrophe from Earthquakes to pole shifts. Most of humanity will be destroyed, these seers inform us cheerfully. This cataclysm is referred to, by many of them, as "the Great Purification" or "the Great Cleansing," and is supposed to be a punishment for our sins.

I find the morality and theology of this Doomsday Brigade highly questionable. A large part of the Native American population was exterminated in the 19th century; I cannot regard that as a "Great Cleansing" or believe that the Indians were being punished for their sins. Nor can I think of Hitler's death camps, or Hiroshima or Nagasaki, as "Great Purifications." And I can't make myself believe that the millions killed by plagues, cancers, natural catastrophes, etc., throughout history were all singled out by some Cosmic Intelligence for punishment, while the survivors were preserved due to their virtues. To accept the idea of "God" implicit in such views is logically to hold that everybody hit by a car deserved it, and we should not try to get him to a hospital and save his life, since "God" wants him dead.

I don't know who are the worst sinners on this p ~ Robert Anton Wilson
Frannie quotes by Robert Anton Wilson
My friendship with Jack remains strained. I want to believe that he was duped, but he has always been far too clever to fall for another man's ruse. So we have added yet one more thing to our relationship about which we never speak. Sometimes I think we will break beneath the weight of it, but on those occasions I have but to look at my wife in order to find the strength to carry on. I am determined to be worthy of her and that requires that I be a far stronger and better man than I had ever planned to be.
We see Frannie from time to time, not as often as we'd like unfortunately. She did eventually marry, but that is her story to tell.
Dear Frannie, darling Frannie.
She shall always remain the love of my youth, the one for whom I sold my soul to the devil. But Catherine, my beloved Catherine, shall always be the center of my heart, the one who, in the final hour, would not let the devil have me. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
Henry nodded. "May I ask you a question?"
"Certainly, Your Grace."
He pointed at Jack. "Is he the Artful Dodger?"
Mr. Dickens bent low. "I write fiction, Your Grace. The characters in
my books do not really exist, but if they did" - he winked - "I do believe
he would be the Artful Dodger."
"I knew it!"
"And do you see that gentleman over there?"
"Lord Claybourne?"
Dickens nodded. "He would be Oliver."
"And what about Miss Frannie?"
"She is every sweet girl who appears in the story. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
Dodger knelt beside Sterling. "Greystone, you have to understand we come from the streets. When Frannie was a young girl, we weren't able to stop someone from hurting her very badly. The four of us swore an oath that we'd die before we let anyone harm her again. It's a vow we will keep."
Sterling lay where he was long after Dodger left. He had been correct about one thing: they did love her. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
I try to pretend his shoulder touching mine isn't causing totally unrelated parts of me to tingle. ~ Lisa Desrochers
Frannie quotes by Lisa Desrochers
I turned from my window. Suddenly it seemed odd for my neighbors on both sides to have visitors while I had none. For the first time, I felt lonely at 'Sconset.
"Let's cook," Frannie said energetically. "We will smell so good that they'll all come running." She picked up a bowl, filled it with apples from the barrel, and immediately began to cut them up. I put water to boil, got out cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, lard, flour, sugar, salt, saleratus, vinegar, and all the other things for apple pies. We both laughed happily. How easy it is, we thought, to make a decision, to implement a remedy, to act. ~ Sena Jeter Naslund
Frannie quotes by Sena Jeter Naslund
I have scars on my hand from touching certain people. Once, in the park, when Frannie was still in the carriage, I put my hand on the downy pate of her head and left it there too long. Another time, at Loew's Seventy-second Street, with Zooey during a spooky movie. He was about six or seven, and he went under the seat to avoid watching a scary scene. I put my hand on his head. Certain heads, certain colors and textures of human hair leave permanent marks on me. Other things, too. Charlotte once ran away from me, outside the studio, and I grabbed her dress to stop her, to keep her near me. A yellow cotton dress I loved because it was too long for her. I still have a lemon-yellow mark on the palm of my right hand. ~ J.D. Salinger
Frannie quotes by J.D. Salinger
Grandmothers died. It was to be expected. You weren't even allowed to be that upset about it. Please don't let Frannie have died. Please don't let anyone have died. Nobody else in our family will ~ Liane Moriarty
Frannie quotes by Liane Moriarty
The hostess extended her swanlike neck and opened her mouth to the fullest. "Aaaahhhaaaahhhhheeeeaaaahhhh!"
Somewhere in the depths of the pine forest an identical sound reverberated.
"An echo!" exclaimed Frannie.
"No," smiled Helena. "Sybil Manigault. She's into nature. ~ Armistead Maupin
Frannie quotes by Armistead Maupin
Women's lib, Frannie had decided, was nothing more nor less than an outgrowth of the technological society. Women were at the mercy of their bodies. They were smaller. They tended to be weaker. A man couldn't get with child, but a woman could
every four-year-old knows it. And a pregnant woman is a vulnerable human being. Civilization had provided an umbrella of sanity that both sexes could stand beneath. ~ Stephen King
Frannie quotes by Stephen King
I'm an old man trying to give a young daughter advice, and it's like a monkey trying to teach table manners to a bear. A drunk driver took my son's life seventeen years ago and my wife has never been the same since. I've always seen the question of abortion in terms of Fred. I seem to be helpless to see it any other way, just as helpless as you were to stop your giggles when they came on you at that poetry reading, Frannie. Your mother would argue against it for all the standard reasons. Morality, she'd say. A morality that goes back two thousand years. The right to life. All our Western morality is based on that idea. I've read the philosophers. I range up and down them like a housewife with a dividend check in the Sears and Roebuck store. Your mother sticks with the Reader's Digest, but it's me that ends up arguing from feeling and her from the codes of morality. I just see Fred. He was destroyed inside. There was no chance for him. These right-to-life biddies hold up their pictures of babies drowned in salt, and arms and legs scraped out onto a steel table, so what? The end of a life is never pretty. I just see Fred, lying in that bed for seven days, everything that was ruined pasted over with bandages. Life is cheap, abortion makes it cheaper. I read more than she does, but she is the one who ends up making more sense on this one. What we do and what we think… those things are so often based on arbitrary judgments when they are right. I can't get over that. It's like a bl ~ Stephen King
Frannie quotes by Stephen King
Stop your complaining," Sterling demanded, before Frannie could reply. "I'll have you know I've paid good money to have beautiful ladies towel me off."
She jerked her head around to look at him, and a charming blush crept up her cheeks.
He grinned at her. "Some foreign countries have lovely customs. ~ Lorraine Heath
Frannie quotes by Lorraine Heath
Mama and I walked back out of the woods just in time to hear Frannie squeal, "I want to stay here forever!" "Fine by me." Cleo smiled. She opened up her little red cooler and sloshed through the ice. She pulled out an orange soda bottle and passed it to my sister. "We can stay here all day, at least." "Cleo Harness?" yelled a familiar, husky voice from the edge of the woods. "Is that you?" "Pack up!" Cleo hollered. "We're leaving!" She kicked the cooler lid shut and stood up so fast that her camping chair stayed stuck to her behind. ~ Natalie Lloyd
Frannie quotes by Natalie Lloyd
No matter how bad things get, Frannie darling, they can always get worse and they can always get better. Expect worse and you'll never be disappointed.Expect better and you'll always have something to look forward to. ~ Lorraine Heath
