The kids kept walking, moving through the Henley's halls like a tide, but when Kat turned to leave, she walked in the opposite directions. She wasn't an ordinary kid, after all.
Katarina Bishop followed no one. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
I didn't know there were this many math guys," Hale said as they stepped onto the crowded concourse.
Kat cleared her throat.
"And women," he added. "Math women. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop was a criminal. But she'd never held a gun. She'd never thrown a punch. Until that moment she didn't really know how it felt to hurt someone, and as soon as she saw the look on Hale's face, she wanted to take the words back.
And she wished she could make them hurt more.
Both. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
When his phone rang, he had to dig through his pocket to find it, and his fingers brushed against a pair of tiny earbuds he and Kat had last used in Monte Carlo. Hale smiled a little, realizing he hadn't worn the tux in ages. It was just one of many ways his life had change in the years since a girl named Katarina Bishop crawled into his window and into his life.
- Double Crossed by Ally Carter ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
On most guys, Hale's smile would have looked sheepish. On him, it was so roguishly charming that Kat's heart actually skipped a beat. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
You know you're smarter than all of them, right?" Hale said flatly.
"In fact, if you wanted to PROVE it ... "
He glanced at the blackjack tables.
Simon shook his head. "I don't count cards, Hale."
"Don't?" Hale smiled. "Or won't? You know, technically, it's not illegal."
"But it's frowned upon."
Sweat beaded at Simon's brow.
He sounded like someone had just suggested he swim after eating ... run with scissors ...
"It is SERIOUSLY frowned upon. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
Kat," Hale groaned, then fell back onto the pillows.
"Funny, I didn't hear a doorbell."
"I let myself in; hope that's okay."
Hale smiled. "Or the alarm."
She stepped inside, tossed a pocket-size bag of tools onto the bed.
"You're due for an upgrade."
Hale propped himself against the antique headboard and squinted up at her.
"She returns." He crossed his arms across his bare chest. "You know, I could be naked in here. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
You know" - Hale's breath was warm against Kat's ear in the chilly ballroom- "I don't know that both of us really have to be here ... "
The slide changed. While hundreds of mathematicians waited with baited breath, the boy beside Kat whispered,
"I could go make some calls ... check on some things ... "
"Play some blackjack?"
"Well, when in Rome ... "
"Rome is tomorrow, babe," Kat reminded him.
He nodded. "Right. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
So instead she settled on, "Did my father put you up to this?"
Hale exhaled a quick laugh and shook his head. "He hasn't returned my calls since Barcelona." He leaned closer and whispered, "I think he might still be mad at me."
"Yeah, well, that makes two of us."
"Hey," Hale snapped. "We all agreed that that monkey seemed perfectly well trained at the time. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
Kat turned back to Hale. "The Mary Poppins?"
"Seemed like a good idea at the time."
"Oh. Yeah. Obviously. Just so we're clear, this master plan of yours ... "
"Might have a couple kinks to work through," Hale admitted, then reached for her hand. As soon as he touched her, Kat knew there was no such thing as curses. People make and break their own fortunes-they are the masters of their own fate. And right then Kat wouldn't have changed a thing.
She kissed him, quick and feather soft.
"What was that for?" he asked.
Kat placed her fingers on his face and brought his forehead close to hers, touching as she whispered, "For luck. ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
If I had two breaths left inme, one first one I would use to tell you I miss you, and the second that I love you. ~ Katarina Jovic
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Jovic
Just look educated. How hard can it be? Off you go." It ~ Katarina Bivald
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Bivald
When we are young we cannot know
what it is like to bigger grow
but why do grown-ups great and tall
so soon forget they once were small. ~ Marta Moran Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Marta Moran Bishop
Catholics don't scream about Jesus, they scream about the bishop. ~ John Sandford
Katarina Bishop quotes by John Sandford
Don't judge my problems when you don't know my purpose. I'm only struggling now so I can pull you through later. ~ Bishop Noel Jones
Katarina Bishop quotes by Bishop Noel Jones
Did not i say that things would come right of themselves? said the Bishop. Then he added, with a smile, To him who contents himself with the surplice of a curate, God sends the cope of an archbishop. Monseigneur, murmured the cure, throwing back his head with a smile. God or the Devil. ~ Victor Hugo
Katarina Bishop quotes by Victor Hugo
It was just that she wondered when, exactly, she had become so old. Perhaps it had happened when her mother died. Some kind of generational shift. The mantel being passed. ~ Katarina Bivald
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Bivald
If the Gospel of Judas found in Codex Tchacos can be convincingly identified as being a Coptic translation of the original Greek Gospel of Judas that Bishop Ireneaus mentioned around A.D. 180 in his book, "Against Heresies," it will be an important step in the study of ancient gnosticism. We would have for the first time the chance to trace back the history of Sethian gnosticism to before the time of Irenaeus. This would be a significant gain in our knowledge of early Christianity. ~ Gregor Wurst
Katarina Bishop quotes by Gregor Wurst
It's always a thrill to walk through a Broadway stage door. ~ Kelly Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Kelly Bishop
We're going to destroy Cel-Romano. I wanted you to know that before you die," Stavros said. "You upstart infestation. You thought you could wipe out the terra indigene? It's your species that is going to wither - and you will be one of the things the survivors, if there are any, can thank for that." He released Scratch and floated a safe distance away as dozens of the Sharkgard rushed in to strike the enemy, consuming the human piece by piece. A foot. A hand. A forearm. A thigh. ~ Anne Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Anne Bishop
We are drawn to the Light ... others are drawn to the darkness that lives within the human heart ... there will always be such hearts. There will always be that choice. If that wasn't true, then a heart that walks in the Light has made no choice at all. ~ Anne Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Anne Bishop
Vampires aren't the only ones who can hunt. ~ Diana Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Diana Bishop
Gods, the love that saturated the room was so potent that Arabella couldn't breathe.
This was what she wanted. Someone who wouldn't let go, someone who would love her so much he'd wait decades to be reunited with her. ~ Libby Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Libby Bishop
Insights and perceptions pass through the mind like fleet fireflies. Lit for an instant, then gone back into the dark. ~ Leonard Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Leonard Bishop
I was made at right angles to the world
and I see it so. I can only see it so. ~ Elizabeth Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Elizabeth Bishop
I learned not to depend on other people. I needed support, but it's you who has to go out and deliver. ~ Katarina Witt
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Witt
With all due respect to the people who made the motorcycle movies during the '60s, I felt the sophistication level could be a bit higher, and I felt I could raise the bar on that, too. ~ Larry Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Larry Bishop
Jaenelle squirmed. My ... mate ... is trapped in the Twisted Kingdom. If I don't show him the way out, he'll be destroyed. ~ Anne Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Anne Bishop
The Bishop and Knight, in contradistinction to the Queen and Rook, are called Minor Pieces. ~ Howard Staunton
Katarina Bishop quotes by Howard Staunton
The light which we have gained, was given us, not to be ever staring on, but by it to discover onward things more remote from our knowledge. It is not the unfrocking of a priest, the unmitering of a bishop, and the removing hum from the Presbyterian shoulders that will make us a happy nation; no, if other things as great in the Church, and in the rule of life both economical and political, be not looked into and reformed, we have looked so long upon the blaze that Zwinglius and Calvin have beaconed up to us, that we are stark blind. ~ John Milton
Katarina Bishop quotes by John Milton
I started the class late. The teacher said I would have to learn as much in half a year that the others learned in a year. I did it. ~ Katarina Witt
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Witt
To gain more from your time in the Scripture, you should read and reread the passage. You must know what the passage says before you can understand what it means and how it applies to you and your ministry. You should: Read to determine, "What does this passage say to me?" Begin by reading the passage to determine what the Scripture is all about. Record what you see. It is extremely important that you write some notes and keep a record of your insights and questions. Mark unfamiliar words or phrases that you do not understand; and write your answers in your journal or study notes. ~ Bishop Noel Jones
Katarina Bishop quotes by Bishop Noel Jones
Adelia began to get cross. Why was it women who were to blame for everything - everything, from the Fall of Man to these blasted hedges?

"We are not in a labyrinth, my lord," she said clearly.

"Where are we, then?"

"It's a maze."

"Same difference." Puffing at the horse: "Get back, you great cow."

"No, it isn't. A labyrinth has only one path and you merely have to follow it. It's a symbol of life or, rather, of life and death. Labyrinths twist and turn, but they have a beginning and an end, through darkness into light."

Softening, and hoping that he would, too, she added, "Like Ariadne's. Rather beautiful, really."

"I don't want mythology, mistress, beautiful or not, I want to get to that sodding tower. What's a maze when it's at home?"

"It's a trick. A trick to confuse. To amaze."

"And I suppose Mistress Clever-boots knows how to get us out?"

"I do, actually." God's rib, he was sneering at her, sneering. She'd a mind to stay where she was and let him sweat.

"Then in the name of Christ, do it."

"Stop bellowing at me," she yelled at him. "You're bellowing."

She saw his teeth grit in the pretense of a placatory smile; he always had good teeth. Still did. Between them, he said, "The Bishop of Saint Albans presents his compliments to Mistress Adelia and please to escort him out of this hag's hole, for the love of God. How will you do it?"Ariana Franklin
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ariana Franklin
I dug the idea that I was being perceived as the black sheep of my family, but for me, it was like, I was a rebel, and that to me was most important. ~ Larry Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Larry Bishop
They could hold him in the murder of Officer Tippit. The evidence was far from overwhelming but it was sufficient. For Oswald, the real ~ Jim Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Jim Bishop
I never knew him. We both knew this place,
apparently, this literal small backwater,
looked at it long enough to memorize it,
our years apart. How strange. And it's still loved,
or its memory is (it must have changed a lot).
Our visions coincided--'visions' is
too serious a word--our looks, two looks:
art 'copying from life' and life itself,
life and the memory of it so compressed
they've turned into each other. Which is which?
Life and the memory of it cramped,
dim, on a piece of Bristol board,
dim, but how live, how touching in detail
--the little that we get for free,
the little of our earthly trust. Not much.
About the size of our abidance
along with theirs: the munching cows,
the iris, crisp and shivering, the water
still standing from spring freshets,
the yet-to-be-dismantled elms, the geese. ~ Elizabeth Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Elizabeth Bishop
Evangelicals tend to be "crucicentric," which means "centered on the cross." And we fail to see the comprehensive nature of Christ's work. As the early Christian bishop Irenaeus once argued, Christ moved through all stages of human life and experience and in this sense, recapitulated the life lived by humans. His holy obedience at every stage of human life created the possibility of a perfect humanity which he presented to the Father in his ascension. In his saving work, Jesus then became the author of a restored human race, something the world had never seen before. ~ Gary M. Burge
Katarina Bishop quotes by Gary M. Burge
I must apologize for these damned entrances,' said Francis Crawford of Lymond. 'I feel Tom here never knows if he should send for a bishop or start a round of applause. ~ Dorothy Dunnett
Katarina Bishop quotes by Dorothy Dunnett
I really can't say which of the American classics you should read. In fact, I think about as much of the notion of "classic" as you do, but at least the literary critics who compile those lists have a good sense of humor. How else can you explain them adding Mark Twain's wonderful books to their lists, given his view that "a classic is something everybody wants to have read, but no one wants to read"? Unless it's some kind of disguised jibe, but they surely can't be that petty.
Though I don't think that justice is the main argument against classics list. Or rather, in a way it's clearly a question of justice, but not against those who don't make it. No, the books I feel sorry for are the ones they add to these lists. Take Mark Twain again. Once, when Tom was young, he came to me complaining that he had to read Huckleberry Finn for junior high. Huckleberry Finn! Our critics and educators have got a lot to answer for when they manage to make young boys see stories about rebellion and adventure and ballsiness as a chore. Do you understand what I mean? The real crime of these lists isn't that they leave deserving books off them, but that they make people see fantastic literary adventures as obligations. ~ Katarina Bivald
Katarina Bishop quotes by Katarina Bivald
Your mother brought a strange man to this house once, Katarina. I had hoped it might be a few years before history repeated itself."
Kat rolled her eyes at the mention of her father. "Uncle Eddie, I brought Hale home ages ago," she reminded him; but her uncle just shook his head.
"I've known my great-niece's friend. A boyfriend, on the other hand ... that is a most different matter."
"Yes, sir," Hale said. He stood up a little straighter, spoke a little louder.
"You have a powerful family, boy."
"Yes, sir," Hale said. "Please don't hold them against me."
Then Eddie gave a wry smile. "Who says I was talking about them? ~ Ally Carter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Ally Carter
Love me starting with my scars. Those are what will lead you to my heart ~ J.A. Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by J.A. Bishop
He wondered if there was a way human males said they were sorry about something without saying they were sorry. Because he wasn't sorry about being angry. ~ Anne Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Anne Bishop
Whether you're beaten or pampered, fed the best foods or starved, kept in filth or kept clean, a
cage is still a cage, ~ Anne Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Anne Bishop
I call on the Australian Government to set out the conditions upon which they will provide a taxpayer funded backing for wholesale term funding for Australian deposit taking institutions. I call on the Government it make clear the conditions upon which taxpayer funds will be used in this way. ~ Julie Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Julie Bishop
There was word that a Secret Service man and a Dallas policeman were dead - so the plot must be widespread. ~ Jim Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Jim Bishop
There are some people whom we envy not because they are rich or handsome or successful, although they may be all or any of these, but because everything they are or do seems to be all of a piece, so that even if they wanted to they could not be or do otherwise. ~ Elizabeth Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Elizabeth Bishop
Somebody embroidered the doily.
Somebody waters the plant,
or oils it, maybe. Somebody
arranges the rows of cans
so that they softly say:
esso - so - so - so
to high-strung automobiles.
Somebody loves us all. ~ Elizabeth Bishop
Katarina Bishop quotes by Elizabeth Bishop
It would be so much easier if I could just be a student instead of always a pawn in a bigger game – and I had no illusions. I was no center of the storm. I was no rook or bishop. I was a pawn and nothing more. ~ Sarah K.L. Wilson
Katarina Bishop quotes by Sarah K.L. Wilson
We cannot know what John of Leyden felt Under the Bishop 's tongs - we can only Walk in temperate London, our educated city, Wishing to cry as freely as they did who died In the Age of Faith. We have our loneliness And our regret with which to build an eschatology. ~ Peter Porter
Katarina Bishop quotes by Peter Porter
According to Bishop, the author of The Big Sort, in 1976 less than 25% of Americans lived in places where the presidential election was a landslide. In other words, we lived next door to and attended school and worshiped with people who held different beliefs than ours. We were ideologically diverse. In contrast, in 2016, 80% of U.S. counties gave either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton a landslide victory. Most of us no longer even live near people who are all that different from us in terms of political and social beliefs. ~ Brene Brown
Katarina Bishop quotes by Brene Brown
Do you want to know what 'special' really means, my darling? It means more training, more work, more study, more discipline, more rules. ~ Anne Bishop
