It's all about the relationships; forming them and sustaining them, growing and building a back and forth that will be useful to both parties. However, most people would be far more inclined to help out when a friend asks a favour, and this follows through with the Gods, in my experience. A give and take relationship is the most effective and respectful way I have found of working with them.
