Dreams require down payments. Dreams are free, but the journey isn't. There is a price to pay. When you find your why you'll find your way. When you develop your will you will embark on your way. Many people start; few people finish. Many people have a dream; few people achieve their dreams. ~ John C. Maxwell

When you discover your WHY, the HOW discovers you. ~ Jason N Versey
Your Why quotes by Jason N Versey
What can we do to maintain slowness in the face of those periods of busyness? How can we avoid overload, exhaustion, or even burnout?
Perhaps unsurprisingly, my answer is simply to pay attention.
I recognize the way I'm inclined to stay up late, the way I will procrastinate at every option- and instead of spiraling into that overwhelming sense of too much, I check in with myself.
Why am I feeling this way? What has changed? What is there more of? What is there less of?
Become better at recognizing the signs of a looming backslide and pay close attention to the areas of our lives that have the greatest impact, ensuring they never slip too far out of hand.
Nicholas Bate refers to this regular checking in as "taking your MEDS" or more specifically, paying attention to:

- Mindfulness
- Exercise
- Diet
- Sleep

Once I recognize which of these areas has changed, its simpler (not necessarily easier) to recognize the issue and start fixing it. Sometimes the changes aren't in my control, so I need to look for ways of finding slow by creating more opportunities for a moment of deep breathing or paying close attention to whats in front of me. But other times, I've simply lost sight of what works, and its a matter of adding more of these things I've neglected- Mindfulness, simplicity, kindness- and reducing the things that don't serve me well.
Above all else, though, I simply go back to my Why.

I always say these two things: Begin the begin, and don't take anything personally. You have to start to finish! There will always be a reason not to write; find your "why" and keep it in front of you. It's also important for authors to understand that someone somewhere is going to hate their work. You aren't writing for every reader; you're writing for the right reader! All of that being said; if your right readership is really small, you need to decide you're okay with that. ~ Liv Hadden

Progress comes with practice, and practice comes with purpose. Know your "why. ~ Melissa Steginus
Your Why quotes by Melissa Steginus
You get to a place where you begin to be guided by something greater than yourself. You stop fighting and striving (indeed the need to expend this type of energy is often a strong indicator that you are not in flow and where you are meant to be) and instead, surrender to your higher purpose and be guided from there, allowing things to happen, trusting in source, focusing on your why and letting go of the how ... ~ Wayne W. Dyer
Your Why quotes by Wayne W. Dyer
When they are unclear about your WHY, WHAT you do has no context. Even though ~ Simon Sinek

Your why doesn't matter," she said finally. "Maybe you did what you did in the name of love. But if you think that makes any difference, you're no better than the Clave." He ~ Cassandra Clare
Your Why quotes by Cassandra Clare
Taking the leap is just the first step. Then you must cross the desert. And make no mistake - that journey will be hell."
"Will it be worth it?" he asked.
"You tell me," the old man responded. "How worthy is your goal? And how big is your why?"
"I can't imagine anything better," he affirmed.
"Then yes, it will be worth it. You see, everyone who stands at the edge of this cliff sees something different on the other side. What you see on the other side is your particular goal, and that is unique to you.
"But there's a reason why you have not achieved that goal yet - you are not worthy of it. You have not become who you need to become to deserve it.
"As you cross the desert to your promised land, you will endure tests and trials specific to you and your goal. If you persist, those test and trials will transform you into who you need to be to be worthy of your goal.
"You can't achieve your highest, noblest goals as the same person you are today. To get from where you are to where you want to be you have to change who you are.
"And that is why no one can escape that journey - it is what transforms you into a person worthy of your goal. The bad news is that that journey is hell. The good news is that you get to pick your hell."
"Pick my hell?" he asked. "What do you mean?"
"Because of your natural gifts and interests, your inborn passion and purpose, there are some hells that are more tolerable to you than others.
