Writers World quotes by A.K. Kuykendall
The power of the delete key. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
It's plain to see that the romance has slightly slipped from the Bohemian lifestyle. But we're literary Gypsies, all of us, and it's only recently that we're starting to realise we're not alone. The Internet is connecting all the healers and storytellers, the wild people and mystics, the writers and painters, and the ones who are slightly cracked.

I've always loved wild people. ~ Karl Wiggins
Writers World quotes by Karl Wiggins
There's nothing more intoxicating than creating something from nothing. Creating something from yourself. Professor Piper ~ Rainbow Rowell
Writers World quotes by Rainbow Rowell
Climax: It's all downhill from here. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
Growing up, I used to climb out my window onto the roof and look up at the stars. There, in the quiet, I would write stories inside my head. ~ Christy Hall
Writers World quotes by Christy Hall
Books can truly change our lives: the lives of those who read them, the lives of those who write them. Readers and writers alike discover things they never knew about the world and about themselves. ~ Lloyd Alexander
Writers World quotes by Lloyd Alexander
I write because there is a madness within me to express my thoughts in words. I write because I feel passionately about certain feelings and there is this yearning within me to express these feelings in words. I am not comfortable meeting a lot of people. I like solitude. I like thinking and I dont like talking much. ~ Avijeet Das
Writers World quotes by Avijeet Das
I always wanted to write, even before I realized that there was a comedy writers' world, or what that life was like. I never thought of myself, at least as a little kid, in terms of being the onscreen talent. I always thought it'd be so much fun to write sketches and be a writer. Even as little as 6 or 7, that's what my main interest was. ~ Mindy Kaling
Writers World quotes by Mindy Kaling
I have always enjoyed my solitude. It gives me time to think and to write. ~ Avijeet Das
Writers World quotes by Avijeet Das
If I write as well as I golf, I'm in trouble! ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
Someone described a writer's world as tormented, and I had to laugh. A tormented writer? I personally wouldn't have put those two words together.
Emotions have the power to torment a soul, yes, I agree to that. But writers, through the formation of our characters, delve so often into the depths of a vast range of emotions that we earn the advantage. For we've examined every little thrumming, fracture, spark, pang, and darkening of the heart to a point that we understand and appreciate the necessity and strength of emotions as well as the cause and effects manipulating them.
We understand.
We can imagine.
We sympathize.
Our knowledge is power over the torment of emotional ignorance.
I would suggest that those truly tormented are the readers of our works because those poor souls shall never know with such clarity and sentiment all the tiny little details that make our characters breath, move, and live before our very eyes.
Perhaps, if torment does lurk among writers, it comes simply through knowing more about an imagined friend than can ever be adequately expressed in words. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Writers World quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Negative experiences repeat as long as they remain useful to you. ~ Tawny Lara
Writers World quotes by Tawny Lara
Creativity bleeds from the pen of inspiration. ~ T.N. Suarez

Writers World quotes by Carmen DeSousa
Writing is taking the demons out for a walk. ~ Gwen Calvo
Writers World quotes by Gwen Calvo
She never claimed to be a writer, she simply described herself as a typist of stories waiting to come alive. ~ Margareth Stewart
Writers World quotes by Margareth Stewart
Conflict. Conflict. Where art thou conflict? ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
Do you remember the time, Mike," Jeremy laughed, "that you put a banana down your pants and walked up to the Palma-nator. It looked like you had one hell of a hard-on. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
As I drove out the wrought iron gates I had entered, I noticed for the first time how intricate and beautiful they were. They were forged by hand so many years ago and had stood the test of time. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
Me to characters: talk to me people. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
When we sit down to write, we psychically enter a sanctuary. This safe haven is our own personal space where we can say whatever is on our mind, where we can talk about what matters most to us, where we can imagine the kind of world that we would like to live. ~ Rob Bignell, Editor
Writers World quotes by Rob Bignell, Editor
I walk around engrossed in my stories and worlds, and I love losing myself in them! ~ Samuel Colbran

I am about art here, not simple reproduction. ~ David Foster Wallace
Writers World quotes by David Foster Wallace
I love Edit. He gives me tons of second chances to make things just right between us. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
To produce new works a writer will use a kind of sixth sense as well as the logical process. He'll enjoy playing with words, and that'll help his brain to relax and produce better ideas. His study is where he discovers order and finds hidden meanings in the words. He'll enjoy expanding the boundaries of what is feasible, and is possibly motivated more by the writing itself than by the hard cash that is the reward for writing. ~ Karl Wiggins
Writers World quotes by Karl Wiggins
If you are an artist, may no love of wealth or fame or admiration and no fear of blame or misunderstanding make you ever paint, with pen or brush, an ideal of external life otherwise than as you see it. ~ Olive Schreiner
Writers World quotes by Olive Schreiner
I before E except after C. Weird?
By rebelling against the rules the word itself denotes its very meaning: of strange or extraordinary character, odd, fantastic.

Writers World quotes by Christy Hall
You deserve good sperm. You've waited a long time. ~ Buffy Andrews
Writers World quotes by Buffy Andrews
Writing is the dragon that lives underneath my floorboards. The one I incessantly feed for fear it may turn and devour my ass. Writing is the friend who doesn't return my phone calls; the itch I'm unable to scratch; a dinner invitation from a cannibal; elevator music for a narcoleptic. Writing is the hope of lifting all boats by pissing in the ocean. Writing isn't something that makes me happy like a good cup of coffee. It's just something I do because not writing, as I've found, is so much worse. ~ Quentin R. Bufogle
Writers World quotes by Quentin R. Bufogle
The thing I want to write most is the next thing I write. ~ Carroll Bryant
Writers World quotes by Carroll Bryant
Being a prophet in the wilderness speaking truth to power typically leads to poverty and punishment. It is far easier to follow the lucrative trade winds of popular opinion but withheld honesty results in forgotten words. ~ Stewart Stafford
Writers World quotes by Stewart Stafford
What I've learned about writing is that sometimes less is more, while often more is grander. And both are true. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Writers World quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich

Writers World quotes by Christy Hall
What they failed to understand was that a creative person can never restrict himself/herself within a particular time-frame. I was no longer a school-going boy. The writer in me revolted – I started to voice my likes and dislikes. ~ Deepak Ranjan
Writers World quotes by Deepak Ranjan

Publish a book before you're too old to read it without glasses. ~ Fennel Hudson
Writers World quotes by Fennel Hudson
The viewpoint character in each story is usually someone trapped in a living nightmare, but this doesn't guarantee that we and the protagonist are at one. In fact Woolrich often makes us pull away from the person at the center of the storm, splitting our reaction in two, stripping his protagonist of moral authority, denying us the luxury of unequivocal identification, drawing characters so psychologically warped and sometimes so despicable that a part of us wants to see them suffer. Woolrich also denies us the luxury of total disidentification with all sorts of sociopaths, especially those who wear badges. His Noir Cop tales are crammed with acts of police sadism, casually committed or at least endorsed by the detective protagonist. These monstrosities are explicitly condemned almost never and the moral outrage we feel has no internal support in the stories except the objective horror of what is shown, so that one might almost believe that a part of Woolrich wants us to enjoy the spectacles. If so, it's yet another instance of how his most powerful novels and stories are divided against themselves so as to evoke in us a divided response that mirrors his own self-division.

("Introduction") ~ Francis M. Nevins Jr.
Writers World quotes by Francis M. Nevins Jr.
I do my best to find my footing in a world that rapidly plummets from each and every grace. ~ Kyle M. Scott
Writers World quotes by Kyle M. Scott
Seeing the world differently is one of the toughest incompatibilities to reconcile in a relationship. ~ Mariella Frostrup
Writers World quotes by Mariella Frostrup
I own that I cannot see as plainly as others do, and as I should wish to do, evidence of design and beneficence on all sides of us. There seems to me too much misery in the world. I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created the Ichneumonidae with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of Caterpillars, or that a cat should play with mice. ~ Charles Darwin
Writers World quotes by Charles Darwin
The ascent to the divine Life is the human journey, the Work of works, the acceptable Sacrifice. This alone is man's real business in the world and the justification of his existence, without which he would only be an insect crawling among the ephemeral insects on a spec of surface mud and water which has managed to form itself amid the appalling immensities of the physical universe. ~ Sri Aurobindo
Writers World quotes by Sri Aurobindo
Lift up your eyes and see the good in the world, for we are people with an amazing capacity to do great good. And if only the minority choose to exercise this capacity to the smallest degree, oh how wondrous and sweet the deeds performed at but a few hands! ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Writers World quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
Sooner or later the world will have to return to the good old days when we fought wars and killed people the old-fashioned way, one at a time. ~ Andy Rooney
Writers World quotes by Andy Rooney
The world's most funniest and easiest thing is to give an advice ... ~ Chetan Bhagat
Writers World quotes by Chetan Bhagat
Gossip. The more you talk about why people do things, the more ideas you have about how the world works. ~ Jane Smiley
Writers World quotes by Jane Smiley
So I decided the only place I can speak to the world is from outside Israel. ~ Mordechai Vanunu
Writers World quotes by Mordechai Vanunu
She liked to think. What did she like to think? She was having a dumb day and wanted to blame the fog.
Maybe he falls, he slides, if that is a useful word, from his experience of an objective world, the deepest description of space-time, where he does not feel a sense of future direction - he slides into her experience, everyone's, the standard sun-kissed chronology of events.
Am I the first human to abduct an alien? ~ Don DeLillo
Writers World quotes by Don DeLillo
I am in an altogether new world now. I can think of nothing more wonderful. It is a real touch of all that heaven means. ~ Laura Hillenbrand
Writers World quotes by Laura Hillenbrand
I am human. I am messy. I'm not trying to be an example. I am not trying to be perfect. I am not trying to say I have all the answers. I am not trying to say I'm right. I am just trying - trying to support what I believe in, trying to do some good in this world, trying to make some noise with my writing while also being myself. ~ Roxane Gay
Writers World quotes by Roxane Gay
I tell Jack by accident. We're talking on the phone about unprotected sex, how it isn't good for people with our particular temperament, our anxiety like an incorrigible weed. He asks if I've had any sex that was "really stressful," and out the story comes, before I can even consider how to share it. Jack is upset. Angry, though not at me. I'm crying, even though I don't want to. It's not cathartic, or helping me prove my point. I still make joke after joke, but my tears are betraying me, making me appear clear about my pain when I'm not. Jack is in Belgium. It's late there, he's so tired, and I'd rather not be having this conversation this way. "It isn't your fault," he tells me, thinking it's what I need to hear. "There's no version of this where it's your fault." I feel like there are fifty ways it's my fault. I fantasized. I took the big pill and the small pill, stuffed myself with substances to make being out in the world with people my own age a little bit easier. To lessen the space between me and everyone else. I was hungry to be seen. But I also know that at no moment did I consent to being handled that way. I never gave him permission to be rough, to stick himself inside me without a barrier between us. I never gave him permission. In my deepest self I know this, and the knowledge of it has kept me from sinking. I curl up against the wall, wishing I hadn't told him. "I love you so much," he says. "I'm so sorry that happened." Then his voice changes, from pity to som ~ Lena Dunham
Writers World quotes by Lena Dunham
Having a big gay following, I get hate mail and threats. Some people are blind or ignorant, and you can't be that prejudiced and hateful and go through this world and still be happy. ~ Dolly Parton
Writers World quotes by Dolly Parton
The extermination of the buffalo has been a veritable tragedy of the animal world. ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Writers World quotes by Theodore Roosevelt
How I have tried and tried to be a splendid woman, and how destiny has been against me! ... I do not deserve my lot! ... O, the cruelty of putting me into this ill-conceived world! I was capable of much; but I have been injured and blighted and crushed by things beyond my control! O, how hard it is of Heaven to devise such tortures for me, who have done no harm to heaven at all! ~ Thomas Hardy
Writers World quotes by Thomas Hardy
As a nation we have the right to decide our own affairs, to mould our own future. This does not pose any danger to anybody. Our nation is fully aware of the responsibility for its own fate in the complicated situation of the contemporary world. ~ Lech Walesa
Writers World quotes by Lech Walesa
One act of beneficence, one act of real usefulness, is worth all the abstract sentiment in the world. ~ Ann Radcliffe
Writers World quotes by Ann Radcliffe
A (wo)men travels the world over in search of wht (s)he needs and returns home to find it ~ Barbara Magro
Writers World quotes by Barbara Magro
Perhaps things are most beautiful when they are not quite real; when you look upon a scene as an outsider, and come to possess it in its entirety and forever; when you live in the present with the lucidity and feeling of memory; when, for want of connection, the world deepens and becomes art. ~ Mark Helprin
Writers World quotes by Mark Helprin
You knew then that this was not any kind of hospital that cured, but a hospital that held, that kept their patients away from the rest of the world, a kind of ark that floated along full of life, but not participating in life ... These people no longer made progress. ~ Anne Spollen
Writers World quotes by Anne Spollen
You must always believe. Stay strong. Faith moves mountains. Don't be a bystander in life. No. Take it by the reins. Lay it down beneath you like a woman, a real woman with curves like a prayer pillow. Embrace it gentlly, at other times intensely. Seek out the source of life, where it pulsates, where it burns hot and humid, here, there, everywhere. The world is yours for the taking. Learn to feel out the world. Always give the best of yourself. Bite into it and don't hold back. Fear; leave it behind, far away from you. It will pass through you and continue its course. Walk like a God among men. Always consider what your actions say about you. Every steps resonates; yours levitate! Be mindful of the the way you carry yourself, especially when life punches you right in the heart, your body. Spit violently on the ground if you have to. Turn a deaf-ear to the mean-spirited and narrow-minded. They can only drag you into the lair of regrets, jealousy and resentement. ~ Wilfried N'Sondé
Writers World quotes by Wilfried N'Sondé
In his mind Vaughan saw the whole world dying in a simultaneous automobile disaster, millions of vehicles hurled together in a terminal congress of spurting loins and engine coolant. ~ J.G. Ballard
Writers World quotes by J.G. Ballard
His fangs scraped lightly over her skin and then, with a low groan, he gave in to the need coursing through him.
She moaned softly, her body sagging against his as the world went red. There was no pain and, oddly, no fear, only a remarkable sensual euphoria. She closed her eyes, drifting, falling into velvet blackness that threatened to sweep her away into oblivion. ~ Amanda Ashley
Writers World quotes by Amanda Ashley
I was, throughout school, in the theater program. Through elementary school, junior high, high school, and then J.J. Abrams, my closest friend in the world, we were living together. He was writing, and I was trying writing; I wasn't getting paid for it like he was, but I always had the acting bug. ~ Greg Grunberg
Writers World quotes by Greg Grunberg
Clear writers, like fountains, do not seem so deep as they are; the turbid look the most profound. ~ Walter Savage Landor
Writers World quotes by Walter Savage Landor
Stylistically, I love make-up. I love doing my own make-up and stuff, but clothes-wise, I actually didn't ever really care. Initially the fashion world was more interested in me than the music world, which was strange when I first started singing. ~ Lana Del Rey
Writers World quotes by Lana Del Rey
Maybe it's the fact the most of the arts here are produced by world-weary and sophisticated older people and then consumed by younger people who not only consume art but study it for clues on how to be cool, hip - and keep in mind that, for kids and younger people, to be hip and cool is the same as to be admired and accepted and included and so Unalone. Forget so-called peer-pressure. It's more like peer-hunger. No? We enter a spiritual puberty where we snap to the fact that the great transcendant horror is loneliness, excluded encagement in the self. Once we've hit this age, we will now give or take anything, wear any mask, to fit, be part-of, not be Alone, we young. The U.S. arts are our guide to inclusion. A how-to. We are shown how to fashion masks of ennui and jaded irony at a young age where the face is fictile enough to assume the shape of whatever it wears. And then it's stuck there, the weary cynicism that saves us from gooey sentiment and unsophisticated naivete. ~ David Foster Wallace
Writers World quotes by David Foster Wallace
is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you," he stated. ~ Aly Martinez
Writers World quotes by Aly Martinez
My own sense of well-being and purpose in the world. That comes from studying the world feelingly, with empathy in my work. It comes from staying alert and alive and involved in the lives of the people that I love and the people in the wider world who need my help. ~ Meryl Streep
Writers World quotes by Meryl Streep
I don't belong anywhere.
I am neither a heart, a diamond, a club, nor a spade. I am neither a King, a Jack, an Eight, nor an Ace.
As I am here - I am merely the Joker, and who that is I have had to find out for myself.
Every time I toss my head, the jingling bells remind me that I have no family.
I have no number - and no trade either.
I have gone around observing your activities from the outside.
Because of this I have also been able to see things to which you have been blind.
Every morning you have gone to work, but you have never been fully awake.
It is different for the Joker, because he was put into this world with a flaw:
he sees too deeply and too much.
Truth is a lonely thing. ~ Jostein Gaarder
Writers World quotes by Jostein Gaarder
How endless is that volume which God hath written of the world! Every creature is a letter, every day a new page. ~ Joseph Hall
Writers World quotes by Joseph Hall
They may look grown-up," she continued, "but it's a disguise. It's just the clay of time. Men and women are still children deep in their hearts. They still would like to jump and play, but that heavy clay won't let them. They'd like to shake off every chain the world's put on them, take off their watches and neckties and Sunday shoes and return naked to the swimming hole, if just for one day. They'd like to feel free, and know that there's a momma and daddy at home who'll take care of things and love them no matter what. Even behind the face of the meanest man in the world is a scared little boy trying to wedge himself into a corner where he can't be hurt. ~ Robert McCammon
Writers World quotes by Robert McCammon
Kai whirled around and his face was sadowed by the angle of the sun. Still, she knew his tone. Anger. "What's so funny? That our project has been set back several says? That we're stuck here longer? That you take a little spill from a horse and everyone wants to rearrange the world so you don't suffer a moment of inconvenience?"
"No," she said, and her voice was even. "That I would wait a month in agony just to hear you insult me. I'm a miserable girl indeed, don't you think? ~ Diana Peterfreund
Writers World quotes by Diana Peterfreund
The world began without man, and it will complete itself without him. ~ Claude Levi-Strauss
Writers World quotes by Claude Levi-Strauss
There are two kinds of cities in the world: those that reassure their residents that tomorrow and the day after, and the day after that, will be much the same; and those that do the opposite, insidiously reminding their inhabitants of life's uncertainty. Istanbul is of the second kind. There is no room for introspection, no time to wait for the clocks to catch up with the pace of events. Istanbulites dart from one breaking news story to the next, moving fast, consuming faster, until something happens that demands their full attention. ~ Elif Shafak
Writers World quotes by Elif Shafak
Going to school on the Planet really is doing nothing. You
just sit in the classes someone else tells you to sit in. You
learn things you didn't choose to learn from people you
didn't choose to teach you. Then one day they tell you it's
over and you have to go out there and learn the world for
real. ~ Randy Russell
Writers World quotes by Randy Russell
Human judgment of human actions is true and void , that is to say, first true and then void ... The judgment of the word is true, the judgment in itself is void ... Only he who is a party can really judge, but as a party he cannot judge. Hence it follows that there is no possibility of judgment in the world, only a glimmer of it. ~ Franz Kafka
Writers World quotes by Franz Kafka
As long as there are fuses, no walls are safe. As long as every wall is threatened, the world can happen. Outlaws are can openers in the supermarket of life. ~ Tom Robbins
