It's the story of the City of Women; of how it came to be, how it flourished, and how it was destroyed by a reckless and irrevocable act of mercy. ~ Louise Carey
Women Issues quotes by Louise Carey
Once there was a city of women. ~ Louise Carey
Women Issues quotes by Louise Carey
Is that the ultimate need? To secure some agent to act as a salve, a bandage, a cover-up, concealer over the black eye, as opposed to facing the issue head on. Nobody wants to address the fist. We'd all much rather take something for the pain and make it all go away. ~ Katandra Jackson Nunnally
Women Issues quotes by Katandra Jackson Nunnally
In a new issue of Esquire magazine, they revealed that before he was married to Teresa Heinz, Senator John Kerry dated Morgan Fairchild, Michelle Phillips, Catherine Oxenberg and Dana Delany. Finally a Democratic presidential candidate with good taste in women. ~ Jay Leno
Women Issues quotes by Jay Leno
The bar is masculine, and women must adopt traditionally masculine characteristics – cultivated insensitivity, goal-orientated thinking, the prioritising of the material – to compete. ~ Antonella Gambotto-Burke
Women Issues quotes by Antonella Gambotto-Burke
We are too ready (women especially) not to stand by what we have said or done. ~ Brenda Ueland
Women Issues quotes by Brenda Ueland
Love is love. It doesn't matter how or who you love. I don't believe the messiah would condemn gay men and women. ~ James Frey
Women Issues quotes by James Frey
Making these choices [to attend school instead of skipping], as it turned out, wasn't about willpower. I always admired people who "willed" themselves to do something, because I have never felt I was one of them. If sheer will were enough by itself, it would have been enough a long time ago, back on University Avenue, I figured. It wasn't, not for me anyway. Instead, I needed something to motivate me. I needed a few things that I could think about in my moments of weakness that would cause me to throw off the blanket and walk through the front door. More than will, I needed something to inspire me.

One thing that helped was a picture I kept in mind, this image that I used over and over whenever I was faced with these daily choices. I pictured a runner running on a racetrack. The image was set in the summertime and the racetrack was a reddish orange, divided in white racing stripes to flag the runners' columns. Only, the runner in my mental image did not run alongside others; she ran solo, with no one watching her. And she did not run a free and clear track, she ran one that required her to jump numerous hurdles, which made her break into a heavy sweat under the sun. I used this image every time I thought of things that frustrated me: the heavy books, my crazy sleep schedule, the question of where I would sleep and what I would eat. To overcome these issues I pictured my runner bolting down the track, jumping hurdles toward the finish line.

Hunger, hurdle ~ Liz Murray
Women Issues quotes by Liz Murray
You dare quarrel with me Doerwyne?

She wrinkled her nose. "It's not quarreling to express an opinion'"

"Women don't have opinions."

"Then I must be a man, because I have plenty. ~ Georgia Fox
Women Issues quotes by Georgia Fox
Searching for self implied either not liking who you are or wanting to escape who you've been. ~ Barbara Delinsky
Women Issues quotes by Barbara Delinsky
The last young lady I met stabbed me. You know I'm cursed when it comes to women. ~ Trudi Canavan
Women Issues quotes by Trudi Canavan
The black community now in many ways divided itself the way the larger white community divides itself, over class issues. And that race is no longer the bond that it once was. That's one of the prices you pay for progress. ~ Ed Smith
Women Issues quotes by Ed Smith
And Dorothea..she had no dreams of being praised above other women.
Feeling that there was always something better which she might have done if she had only been better and known better, her full nature spent itself in deeds which left no great name on the earth, but the effect of her being on those around her was incalculable.
For the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts and on all those Dorotheas who life faithfully their hidden lives and rest in unvisited tombs. Middlemarch ~ George Eliot
Women Issues quotes by George Eliot
I wonder how can I ever work for an organization that pollutes the world and refuses to clean up and sometimes even own up. And, I wonder how on earth can I work for an organization where one of my fellow classmates wouldn't get the same paycheck and the same perks and the same benefits as I would simply because she is a girl. ~ Sharad Vivek Sagar
Women Issues quotes by Sharad Vivek Sagar
Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of husbands. Remember all men would be tyrants if they could. ~ Abigail Adams
Women Issues quotes by Abigail Adams
Women buy underwear for the men they love. It's economics. Data supports this claim."
"Are you telling me you love me, Stella?"
She hugged Karate Bear tight and nodded, suddenly overcome by shyness.
"You're not going to give me the words?" he asked.
"I've never said them to anyone but my parents."
"You think I run around telling women I love them?"
He pulled her close and pressed their foreheads together.
"I'm going to get the words out of you. Tonight. ~ Helen Hoang
Women Issues quotes by Helen Hoang
I'm a vegan. I respect the environment, and I do my best to spread the importance of such an issue. ~ Jared Leto
Women Issues quotes by Jared Leto
Women always try to tame themselves as they get older, but the ones who look best are often a bit wilder. ~ Miuccia Prada
Women Issues quotes by Miuccia Prada
Women somehow get portrayed as one type. You're either a feminist or you're not. You're a working woman or you're not. I'm raising two girls, and I say to them, 'I need you to be strong and soft. You can be smart and beautiful ... You can be all of these things.' ~ Maria Shriver
Women Issues quotes by Maria Shriver
To be a bad girl is to break any socially accepted rule. For some women, it's the way they dress. For other girls, it's the act of going to school. At one point, it was fighting for the right to vote. Anything we do outside the lines is immediately up for persecution. ~ Ann Shen
Women Issues quotes by Ann Shen
I asked if you was pleased.'
'Course I'm pleased! You think I'd be mad if I wasn't pleased?'
'You don't make a lick of sense,' he says, but he is smiling now and he takes a step closer to me. ~ Erin Lindsay McCabe
Women Issues quotes by Erin Lindsay McCabe
There's something sexy about a naked woman gritting her teeth in pain, even when it shouldn't be sexy. ~ Travis Luedke
Women Issues quotes by Travis Luedke
What do you think the Devil is going to look like if he's around? Nobody is going to be taken in if he has a long, red, pointy tail. No. I'm semi-serious here. He will look attractive and he will be nice and helpful and he will get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation and he will never do an evil thing ... he will just bit by little bit lower standards where they are important. Just coax along flash over substance ... Just a tiny bit. And he will talk about all of us really being salesmen. And he'll get all the great women. ~ Albert Brooks
Women Issues quotes by Albert Brooks
Marriage, home life, and children, ought to be enjoyed by men and women together. Nobody - and least of all the child - is served by the present tendency to put these things all on one side as 'Woman's World. ~ Alva Myrdal
Women Issues quotes by Alva Myrdal
Take a chance, amaze yourself! ~ C.K. Thomas
Women Issues quotes by C.K. Thomas
I hope that women everywhere will wear this jewelry and feel the passion and love that is, to me, the real spirit of True Harmony. ~ Carol Alt
Women Issues quotes by Carol Alt
Sentences aren't. They go on and on, all full of syntax and qualifying clauses and confusing references and getting old. And that brings up the real proof of what a mess I have made of being a man: I am not even young. Just about the time they finally started inventing women, I started getting old. And I went right on doing it. Shamelessly. I have allowed myself to get old and haven't done one single thing about it, with a gun or anything. What ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Women Issues quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
A man like Wilde was not free to live out of the closet as a homosexual, and women in general were not able to be truly themselves; there was no place for a woman's voice to be heard or for her to express her sexuality. ~ Marisa Tomei
Women Issues quotes by Marisa Tomei
Only seconds slip by without me scrambling for the aid of someone better, more knowledgeable, to walk beside. Writers are good for that. They like nothing more than to tell you what they know.
Dorothy Sayers, with all her essays and treatises, was good for that. Are women human? What constitutes the mind of the Maker? How did Dante survive the Inferno? Ask Dorothy; she'll tell you and gladly. ~ Chila Woychik
Women Issues quotes by Chila Woychik
There are comics who treat women fairly appallingly. But I can be great friends with them because I don't tend to do that ticking of boxes: it can make life too simplistic. ~ Jo Brand
Women Issues quotes by Jo Brand
Literature is concerned with the self-conscious exploration of the lives of men, women and children in society. Even when it is comic, it sees life as something worth talking about. This is why airport fiction, or 'blockbusters', books which are all plot, can never be considered literature, and why, in the end, they are of little value. It is not only that the language in which they are written lacks bounce and poignancy, but that they don't return the reader to the multifariousness and complication of existence… In literature personality is all, and the exploration of character – or portraiture, the human subject – is central to it. ~ Hanif Kureishi
Women Issues quotes by Hanif Kureishi
A bit of a theory, more a corner of the eye noticing than an airtight argument: in the course of long artistic careers, women are more likely than men to change form and style, Proteus-like. ~ Stacey D'Erasmo
Women Issues quotes by Stacey D'Erasmo
The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist - whatever you want to be - and still be a sexual being. It's not mutually exclusive. ~ Beyonce Knowles
Women Issues quotes by Beyonce Knowles
Recently she had become intrigued by the admiring glances of other women. The admiration of her own sex existed on a higher and more intense plane than anything men could offer, like the romantic rivalries of sisters. Together, women formed a conspiracy of glances entirely exchanged behind the backs of their menfolk. ~ J.G. Ballard
Women Issues quotes by J.G. Ballard
When men and women of arms have bled to secure a time of peace, the very people who most benefit from that peace are also the most likely to forget the bleeding. ~ Scott Lynch
Women Issues quotes by Scott Lynch
I feel passionately about issues, and I don't hide my emotions from people. I am not a focus group-tested, blow-dried candidate or governor. Now that has always made some people, you know, uneasy. Some people like that style, some people don't ... But I am not a bully. ~ Chris Christie
Women Issues quotes by Chris Christie
I think the first trick to writing a feminist work is to write plenty of women. That way you get to write characters, instead of worrying about paradigms. ~ Leigh Bardugo
Women Issues quotes by Leigh Bardugo
For the next ten years, until 1251, she and a small group of other women controlled the largest empire in world history. ~ Jack Weatherford
Women Issues quotes by Jack Weatherford
In recent years, as personal memories have faded, another perspective is beginning to make a tentative appearance in China. This view acknowledges the colossal wrongs committed during the Cultural Revolution, but it begins to inquire whether perhaps Mao raised an important question, even if his answer to it proved disastrous. The problem Mao is said to have identified is the relationship of the modern state - especially the Communist state - to the people it governs. In largely agricultural - and even incipient industrial - societies, governance concerns issues within the capacity of the general public to understand. Of course, in aristocratic societies, the relevant public is limited. But whatever the formal legitimacy, some tacit consensus by those who are to carry out directives is needed - unless governance is to be entirely by imposition, which is usually unsustainable over a historic period. ~ Henry Kissinger
Women Issues quotes by Henry Kissinger
When we 'know' what is totally unacceptable..we learn to say 'No'..
Knowing the 'No' gives clarity about what to say 'Yes' to.. ~ Abha Maryada Banerjee
Women Issues quotes by Abha Maryada Banerjee
A lot of people who didn't understand the need for civilians to bear arms on Sept. 10 were pretty clear on the issue by Sept. 12. ~ Tim Slagle
Women Issues quotes by Tim Slagle
Trouble and perplexity drive me to prayer, and prayer drives away perplexity and trouble. ~ Elizabeth George
Women Issues quotes by Elizabeth George
The success of the documentation efforts lies in the users being able to correctly locate and use the resolutions to their issues on time and retain that knowledge for later use. ~ Suyog Ketkar
