You can't ask me to explain the lyrics because I won't do it. ~ Lou Reed
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Lou Reed
"The River" [song] is also, yes, very metaphorical. Rivers are cleansing. As long as human beings have been on the Earth we've used rivers to cleanse ourselves. And, for me, the lyrics "something in the river," I think is - well, the river is a metaphor for where I was at the time. ~ Ladyhawke
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Ladyhawke
All I want to do, is write rock and roll that you could listen to as you got older, and it wouldn't lose anything; it would be timeless, in the subject matter and the literacy of the lyrics. ~ Lou Reed
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Lou Reed
I want to say my life inspires my lyrics, but I also try to abstract them as much as possible because I don't want to refer to my life explicitly. I'm definitely really embarrassed by my lyrics. ~ Grimes
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Grimes
I never really liked poetry readings; I liked to read poetry by myself, but I liked singing, chanting my lyrics to this jazz group. ~ Leonard Cohen
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Leonard Cohen

I lean forward, pressing my lips to his, and it breaks me open. His hand leaves my face and traces notes up my arms, strikes chords on my throat and up into my hair. His mouth forms lyrics that expose my soul.

The kiss is like a song played only once. And forever. ~ Katherine Longshore
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Katherine Longshore
I do have an obligation, however, a debt that cannot be settled by my lyrical decisions. My life will be judged by my obedience, not my ability to confine my lyrics to this box or that. ~ Jon Foreman
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Jon Foreman
Oh, fuck it, I'm a monster, I admit it! ~ Nick Cave
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Nick Cave
reality has too many heads ~ Bob Dylan
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Bob Dylan
Doors music is not a simple kind of music. It's like the Bauhaus. It's clean and pure. Morrison's lyrics are psychologically deep. So for people to understand Doors music is certainly a testament to their intellects. ~ Ray Manzarek
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Ray Manzarek
With no reason to hide these words I feel, and no reason to talk about the books I read, but still, I do. ~ Morrissey
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Morrissey
I was a geek who thought I was cool. I didn't hang out with a particular clique, but with different people from different cliques. I was a total nerd, trying to fit in. Luckily, I found music and that was my niche. That sorta took me out of my geekdom. I was never invited to parties as a teenager - I turned up with the popular people. That's where the lyrics to 'Guilty By Association' came from. ~ Chester Bennington
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Chester Bennington
I sung that I knew you before
The time I saw your face
The green eternity in your eyes
Made time feel misplaced
Your dress was the color of wine
And I was drunk off the taste
I sang my heart into the night
I knew you felt the same way ~ Eric Overby
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Eric Overby
When I'm playing guitar, I just try and put those words into lyrics and just try a few things. It's all over the place. ~ George Ezra
Waweza Lyrics quotes by George Ezra
Whether it's a letter, song lyrics, part of a novel, or instructions on how to fix a kitchen sink, it's writing. You keep your craft honed, you acquire the discipline to finish things. You turn into a self-taskmaster. ~ Jimmy Buffett
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Jimmy Buffett
There's no comfort I can give,
that will ease her pain,
and make her see that she's the
perfect storm ~ Kristan Billups
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Kristan Billups
Unhappiness where's when I was young,
And we didn't give a damn,
'Cause we were raised,
To see life as fun and take it if we can. ~ Dolores O'Riordan
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Dolores O'Riordan
I am no king, and I am no lord,
And I am no soldier at-arms," said he.
"I'm none but a harper, and a very poor harper,
That am come hither to wed with ye."
"If you were a lord, you should be my lord,
And the same if you were a thief," said she.
"And if you are a harper, you shall be my harper,
For it makes no matter to me, to me,
For it makes no matter to me."
"But what if it prove that I am no harper?
That I lied for your love most monstrously?"
"Why, then I'll teach you to play and sing,
For I dearly love a good harp," said she. ~ Peter S. Beagle
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Peter S. Beagle
I start with the subject matter I want to write about. Then I make a musical base for that and create an atmosphere with the music. Once I've done that, the lyrics come last. ~ Midge Ure
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Midge Ure
We human beings are tuned such that we crave great melody and great lyrics. And if somebody writes a great song, it's timeless that we as humans are going to feel something for that and there's going to be a real appreciation. ~ Art Garfunkel
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Art Garfunkel
Being older, I began to understand the lyrics. At the beginning, it sounds like a guy is trying to get his girlfriend to secretly meet up with him at midnight. But it's an odd place for a tryst, a hanging tree, where a man was hung for murder. The murderer's lover must have had something to do with the killing, or maybe they were just going to punish her anyway, because his corpse called out for her to flee. That's weird obviously, the talking-corpse bit, but it's not until the third verse that "The Hanging Tree" begins to get unnerving. You realize the singer of the song is the dead murderer. He's still in the hanging tree. And even though he told his lover to flee, he keeps asking if she's coming to meet him. The phrase Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free is the most troubling because at first you think he's talking about when he told her to flee, presumably to safety. But then you wonder if he meant for her to run to him. To death. In the final stanza, it's clear that that's what he was waiting for. His lover, with her rope necklace, hanging dead next to him in the tree.

I used to think the murderer was the creepiest guy imaginable. Now, with a couple of trips to the Hunger Games under my belt, I decide not to judge him without knowing more details. Maybe his lover was already sentenced to death and he was trying to make it easier. To let her know he'd be waiting. Or maybe he thought the place he was leaving her was really worse than death. Didn't I wa ~ Suzanne Collins
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Suzanne Collins
If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves ~ Barry Louis Polisar
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Barry Louis Polisar
If you listen to my words you'll understand how I really feel inside...I can't express my feelings to you, but I can by writing lyrics. ~ Matthew Trevitz
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Matthew Trevitz
We are the cause of a world that's gone wrong. Nature will survive us, we've been wrong after all. We are the cause of a world that's gone wrong. Wouldn't it be great to heal the world with only a song? (Sky is Over) ~ Serj Tankian
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Serj Tankian
Listen to the lyrics - we're singing about everyday life: rich people trying to keep money, poor people tying to get it, and everyone having trouble with their husband or wife! ~ Buddy Guy
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Buddy Guy
Ragtime plinking, glasses clinking, choruses getting sung with only half the lyrics right, giggles bubbling over like a tower of champagne.

It's a party, shaking down the dawn. ~ Catherynne M Valente
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Catherynne M Valente
I come up with the ideas for my videos, and I write the lyrics and choreograph them, and I direct them and tell everyone what to do and how I want them to sing the parts and do the tongue pops and eye rolls and stuff like that. ~ Todrick Hall
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Todrick Hall
There's this one song called 'Final Warning' that I'm really excited about because I love the contrast of my vocal sounding very soothing and my harsh lyrics. ~ Skylar Grey
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Skylar Grey
Headphones opened up a world of sonic colors, a palette of nuances and details that went far beyond the chords and melody, the lyrics, or a particular singer's voice. The swampy Deep South ambience of "Green River" by Creedence, or the pastoral, open-space beauty of the Beatles' "Mother Nature's Son"; the oboes in Beethoven's Sixth (conducted by Karajan), faint and drenched in the atmosphere of a large wood-and-stone church; the sound was an enveloping experience. ~ Daniel J. Levitin
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Daniel J. Levitin
That's something - you laugh about Eminem ... It's funny, man, because I didn't like him when he first came out, ya know. It seemed like a big joke. But I think the guy's for real, and I like his lyrics! ~ Alan Vega
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Alan Vega
A lot of underground hip-hop will inspire me as far as rhyme patterns - really wordy, intelligent lyrics. ~ Travie McCoy
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Travie McCoy
'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,' if you go through the lyrics, is such a haunting melody, and the words are, for a pop song, pretty deep and dark. ~ Jake Epstein
Waweza Lyrics quotes by Jake Epstein
Well I'm finding it harder
to be a gentleman every day
All the manners that I've been taught
have slowly died away
But if I held the door open for you
It wouldn't make your day. ~ The White Stripes
