For who but I should understand love, with all its sorrow and joy? ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I dance with the dancers. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Conceiv'd out of the fullest heat and pulse of European feudalism -personifying ill unparalleled ways the medieval aristocracy, its towering spirit of ruthless and gigantic caste, with its own peculiar air and arrogance (no mere imitation) -only one of the "wolfish earls" so plenteous in the plays themselves, or some born descendant and knower, might seem to be the true author of those amazing works -works in some respects greater than anything else ill recorded literature. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I will not descend among professors and capitalists.
~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
O the blest eyes, the happy hearts,
That see, that know the guiding thread so fine,
Along the mighty labyrinth."
-from "Song of the Universal ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I tramp a perpetual journey. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
It was a warm night for the end of March. Walt had left the front door to the ice-cream parlor open when he went out after supper to gossip with the old men down at Darly Stidger's Store. And yet it was not spring, although winter was dead and the moon was sickly with the neitherness of the time between those seasons: those last few weeks before the cries of the green frogs would rise in stitching clamor from the river shores and meadow bogs. ~ Davis Grubb
Walt quotes by Davis Grubb
The purpose of democracy - supplanting old belief in the necessary absoluteness of establish'd dynastic rulership, temporal, ecclesiastical, and scholastic, as furnishing the only security against chaos, crime, and ignorance - is, through many transmigrations, and amid endless ridicules, arguments, and ostensible failures ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Faith I have, in myself, in humanity, in the worthwhileness of the pursuits in entertainment for the masses. But wide awake, not blind faith, moves me. My operations are based on experience, thoughtful observation and warm fellowship with my neighbors at home and around the world. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
It's no secret that we were sticking just about every nickel we had on the chance that people would really be interested in something totally new and unique in the field of entertainment. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Give me the splendid, silent sun with all his beams full-dazzling. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
The old cowboy Hershel, "You know what they say about a horse bein' only afraid of two things?"
Walt, "What's that?"
Hershel, "Things that move and things that don't ~ Craig Johnson
Walt quotes by Craig Johnson
I mind how once we lay such a transparent summer morning, How you settled your head athwart my hips and gently turn'd over upon me, And parted the shirt from my bosom-bone, and plunged your tongue to my bare-stript heart, And reach'd till you felt my beard, and reach'd till you held my feet. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
WE two boys together clinging,
One the other never leaving,
Up and down the roads going, North and South excursions making,
Power enjoying, elbows stretching, fingers clutching,
Arm'd and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving.
No law less than ourselves owning, sailing, soldiering, thieving,
threatening,
Misers, menials, priests alarming, air breathing, water drinking, on
the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
Cities wrenching, ease scorning, statutes mocking, feebleness
chasing,
Fulfilling our foray. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I believe in being an innovator. ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
The qualifications that I have to speak on world affairs are exactly the same ones Henry Kissinger has, and Walt Rostow has, or anybody in the Political Science Department, professional historians - none, none that you don't have. The only difference is, I don't pretend to have qualifications, nor do I pretend that qualifications are needed. I mean, if somebody were to ask me to give a talk on quantum physics, I'd refuse - because I don't understand enough. But world affairs are trivial: there's nothing in the social sciences or history or whatever that is beyond the intellectual capacities of an ordinary fifteen-year-old. You have to do a little work, you have to do some reading, you have to be able to think but there's nothing deep - if there are any theories around that require some special kind of training to understand, then they've been kept a carefully guarded secret. ~ Noam Chomsky
Walt quotes by Noam Chomsky
To speak in literature with the perfect rectitude and insouciance of the movements of animals and the unimpeachable of the sentiment of trees in the woods and grass by the roadside is the flawless triumph of art. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
It avails not, time nor place
distance avails not,
I am with you, you men and women of a generation, or ever so many
generations hence,
Just as you feel when you look on the river and sky, so I felt,
Just as any of you is one of a living crowd, I was one of a crowd,
Just as you are refresh'd by the gladness of the river and the
bright flow, I was refresh'd,
Just as you stand and lean on the rail, yet hurry with the swift
current, I stood yet was hurried,
Just as you look on the numberless masts of ships and the
thick-stemm'd pipes of steamboats, I look'd. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
The spirit receives from the body just as much as it gives to the body, if not more. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Never put business before family, ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
In fact any good mind properly taught can think like Euclid and like Walt Whitman. The Renaissance, as we saw, was full of such minds, equally competent as poet and as engineers. The modern notion of "the two cultures," incompatible under one skull, comes solely from the proliferation of specialties in science; but these also divide scientists into groups that do not understand one another, the cause being the sheer mass of detail and the diverse terminologies. In essence the human mind remains one, not 2 or 60 different organs. ~ Jacques Barzun
Walt quotes by Jacques Barzun
Disneyland is like a piece of clay: If there is something I don't like, I'm not stuck with it. I can reshape and revamp. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Life doesn't give You the people you want, It gives you The people you need: To love you, To hate you, To make you, To break you, And to make you the person you Were meant to be. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
The real war will never get in the books. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Out of the cradle endlessly rocking,
Out of the mocking-bird's throat, the musical shuttle,
Out of the Ninth-month midnight,
Over the sterile sands, and the fields beyond, where the child, leaving his bed, wander'd
alone, bare-headed, barefoot,
Down from the shower'd halo,
Up from the mystic play of shadows, twining and twisting as if they were alive,
Out from the patches of briers and blackberries,
From the memories of the bird that chanted to me,
From your memories, sad brother - from the fitful risings and fallings I heard,
From under that yellow half-moon, late-risen, and swollen as if with tears,
From those beginning notes of sickness and love, there in the transparent mist,
From the thousand responses of my heart, never to cease,
From the myriad thence-arous'd words,
From the word stronger and more delicious than any,
From such, as now they start, the scene revisiting,
As a flock, twittering, rising, or overhead passing,
Borne hither - ere all eludes me, hurriedly,
A man - yet by these tears a little boy again,
Throwing myself on the sand, confronting the waves,
I, chanter of pains and joys, uniter of here and hereafter,
Taking all hints to use them - but swiftly leaping beyond them,
A reminiscence sing. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I blame it on Walt Disney, where animals are given human qualities. People don't understand that a wild animal is not something that is nice to pat. It can seriously harm you. ~ James Cameron
Walt quotes by James Cameron
Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you.
You must travel it by yourself.
It is not far. It is within reach.
Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.
Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Lack one lacks both, and the unseen is proved by the seen,
Till that becomes unseen and receives proof in its turn. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
This is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou lovest best.
Night, sleep, and the stars. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Human bodies are words, myriads of words; In the best poems reappears the body, man's or woman's, well-shaped, natural, gay; ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I resist any thing better than my own diversity, Breathe the air but leave plenty after me, And am not stuck up, and am in my place. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
How beggarly appear arguments before a defiant deed! ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I remember exiting the birth canal and suddenly I was in a film. But you are never really in charge of that. The movie came out about five or six months ago in America. It was Miramax in the States and Disney here [fakes falling asleep]. What happened. I love working for Disney, not Walt specifically because he couldn't be more dead, but the company is fantastic ~ Ryan Reynolds
Walt quotes by Ryan Reynolds
Art is a luxury. It's not necessary for you to - you can work your job and you can make some money and never know who Walt Whitman was, and never read a poem. ~ Wynton Marsalis
Walt quotes by Wynton Marsalis
Just watch Snow White. Just visit Disneyland or Walt Disney World in Florida - he was laying the plans for the Florida park while he was on his death bed. People kept telling him his dreams were impossible. Walt knew better. He had wished upon a star. ~ Pat Williams
Walt quotes by Pat Williams
All I mark as my own you shall offset it with your own,
Else it were time lost listening to me. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I'd say it's been my biggest problem all my life ... it's money. It takes a lot of money to make these dreams come true. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
What cities the light or warmth penetrates I penetrate those cities myself,
All islands to which birds wing their way I wing my way myself. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
George Banks and all he stands for will be saved. Maybe not in life, but in imagination. Because that's what we storytellers do. We restore order with imagination. We instill hope again and again and again. ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
The souls moving along ... are they invisible while the least atom of the stones is visible? ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Give the public everything you can give them, keep the place as clean as you can keep it, keep it friendly. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
I like the scientific spirit - the holding off, the being sure but not too sure, the willingness to surrender ideas when the evidence is against them: this is ultimately fine - it always keeps the way beyond open - always gives life, thought, affection, the whole man, a chance to try over again after a mistake - after a wrong guess. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
There's no telling from poem to poem where this brilliant 'conversation' about maleness and gender will lead
there are poems about husbands and wives, parents and children, Elvis, Apollo, Walt Whitman, rhythms of its politics. Manthology is a remarkably honest and enormously heartening collection. ~ Nancy Eimers
Walt quotes by Nancy Eimers
I share what I know, so that others may grow! ~ Walt F.J. Goodridge
Walt quotes by Walt F.J. Goodridge
In the confusion we stay with each other, happy to be together, speaking without uttering a single word. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I sing the body that is electric! I celebrate the Self yet to be unveiled! ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Walt also had a humorous sign posted outside the mansion, recruiting ghosts who wanted to enjoy 'active retirement' in the "country club atmosphere' of this 'fashionable address'. Interested ghosts were to write to the 'Ghost Relations Dept. Disneyland,' and were told,'Do not apply in person. ~ Leslie Le Mon
Walt quotes by Leslie Le Mon
Suddenly he stops. He looks up. For, lo, there she stands. The girl of his dreams. Who she is or whence she came, he knows not, nor does he care for his heart tells him that here, here is the maid predestined to be his bride. ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
What did that Walt Disney song say? Someday my prince will come? Well, mine came alright ... and I don't think Disney would make a song out of it ~ D.H. Starr
Walt quotes by D.H. Starr
Disneyland is a work of love ... Drawing up plans and dreaming of what I could do, everything. It was just something I kind of kept playing around with. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
The fascinating thing about the studio was that there was no story department. They would put a little notice up on the bulletin board saying: 'The next Oswald will take place at the North Pole. Anybody having any gags, please turn them in before such a date.' If you turned in gags regularly, the way Tex Avery, Cal Howard, Jack Carr and two or three others of us did, you'd be called into the gag meeting. The group would go into Walt's office and talk about whatever the subject of the cartoon was. Walt would put it into some kind of form and that was the story
no scripts, no storyboards. ~ Walter Lantz
Walt quotes by Walter Lantz
Stoudemire is like Alonzo Mourning and my old teammates Willis Reed and Dave DeBusschere. He's aggressive and make things happen. He's always hustling and muscling, hounding and pounding guys into submission. ~ Walt Frazier
Walt quotes by Walt Frazier
You must not know too much or be too precise or scientific about birds and trees and flowers and watercraft; a certain free-margin , or even vagueness - ignorance, credulity - helps your enjoyment of these things. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Now I will do nothing but listen to accrue what I hear into this song. To let sounds contribute toward it. I hear the sound I love. The sound of the human voice. I hear all sounds running together. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
The moon gives you light, and the bugles and the drums give you music, and my heart, O my soldiers, my veterans, my heart gives you love. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
God is not dead-He is merely unemployed ... ~ Walt Kelly
Walt quotes by Walt Kelly
I am satisfied ... I see, dance, laugh, sing. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Adults are only kids grown up ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
As Walt Whitman correctly surmised, we are large and we harbour multitudes within us. And those multitudes are locked in chronic battle. There is an ongoing conversation among the different factions in your brain, each competing to control the single output channel of your behaviour. ~ Damian Thompson
Walt quotes by Damian Thompson
Therefore, for me, living true to my self may be defined as: Making the daily choices in all areas of my life that are in the best interests of my survival, evolution and prosperity, that aid the ongoing achievement of the highest physical, mental and spiritual objectives of which I am capable, that are based on the most correct assessment of reality I have available, and that honor the evolving truth of who I am and who I choose to be, all in the personal pursuit of freedom, function, fun, as well as the highest good of all. ~ Walt F.J. Goodridge
Walt quotes by Walt F.J. Goodridge
Well, just to dispel all the myths, Walt [Disney] was not anti-Semitic. He was not racist in any way, shape, or form. He was not frozen when his life ended. He's not in some frozen vault right now waiting to make a big comeback. ~ Pat Williams
Walt quotes by Pat Williams
I accept Reality and dare not question it, Materialism first and last imbuing. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Experience means nothing unless you're paying attention. ~ Stephen Smoke
Walt quotes by Stephen Smoke
Everybody is writing, writing, writing - worst of all, writing poetry. It'd be better if the whole tribe of the scribblers - every damned one of us - were sent off somewhere with tool chests to do some honest work. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I gotta say - if I clicked on a movie interview, and the first part was all about Walt Whitman, I'd love that article. ~ Adam McKay
Walt quotes by Adam McKay
Happiness is a state of mind. You can be happy or you can be unhappy. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Disneyland is such a big thing to Californians, I discovered that when you cross the border you have to raise your right hand and take an oath that you believe in Walt Disney. ~ Jack Paar
Walt quotes by Jack Paar
I see that I am to wait for what will be exhibited by death. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman

Walt quotes by Pete Docter

Walt quotes by Walt Mossberg
O you youths, Western youths,
So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship,
Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the foremost,

My very identities as a reader and a writer began at the Walt Whitman branch library. ~ Paula Spencer
Walt quotes by Paula Spencer
My story testifies to the truth that we must never give up on people, no matter how many times they fail or how long recovery takes. We must never underestimate the healing power of prayer and love in the hands of the Lord. We must never give up hope. ~ Walt Heyer
Walt quotes by Walt Heyer
Judging from the main portions of the history of the world, so far, justice is always in jeopardy. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Okay, I know--my superpower--I'd be able to shoot lightening bolts out from my fingertips--great big knowledge network lightening bolts--and when a person was zapped by one of those bolts, they'd fall down on their knees and once on their knees, they'd be under water, in this place I saw once off the east coast of the Bahamas, a place where a billion electric blue fish swam up to me and made me a part of their school--and then they'd be up in the air, up in Manhattan, above the World Trade Center, with a flock of pigeons, flying amid the skyscrapers, and then--then what? And then they'd go blind, and then they'd be taken away--they'd feel homesick--more homesick than they'd felt in their entire life--so homesick they were throwing up--and they'd be abandoned, I don't know...in the middle of a harvested corn field in Missouri. And then they'd be able to see again, and from the edges of the field people would appear--everybody they'd known--and they'd be carrying Black Forest cakes and burning tiki lamps and boom boxes playing the same song, and they sky would turn into a sunset, the way it does in Walt Disney brochure, and the person I zapped would never be alone or isolated again. ~ Douglas Coupland
Walt quotes by Douglas Coupland
Walt Whitman defended the sacredness of love, the purity of passion - the passion that builds every home and fills the world with art and song. ~ Robert Green Ingersoll
Walt quotes by Robert Green Ingersoll
O you singer, solitary, singing by yourself - projecting me;
O solitary me, listening - nevermore shall I cease perpetuating you;
Never more shall I escape, never more the reverberations,
Never more the cries of unsatisfied love be absent from me,
Never again leave me to be the peaceful child I was before what there, in the night,
By the sea, under the yellow and sagging moon,
The messenger there arous'd - the fire, the sweet hell within,
The unknown want, the destiny of me. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
A writer can do nothing for men more necessary, satisfying, than just simply to reveal to them the infinite possibility of their own souls. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
The ranks included a carpenter and furniture-maker named Elias Disney, who in coming years would tell many stories about the construction of this magical realm beside the lake. His son Walt would take note. ~ Erik Larson
Walt quotes by Erik Larson
Tomorrow can be a wonderful age. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
In England in the 19th century, advances in printing methods, combined with the rise of a prosperous middle class, engendered a booming new industry of books published just for children. Casting about for cheap story material, English publishers laid hands on the subtle, sensual adult fairy tales of the Continental tradition and revised them into simpler stories instilled with Victorian values. Although these simplified versions retained much of the violence of the older stories, elements of sexuality and moral complexity were carefully scrubbed away - along with the fiesty heroines who appeared everywhere in the older tales, tamed now into models of Victorian propiety and passivity. In the 20th century, the Walt Disney Studios watered down the tales further still in popular animated films like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, continuing the trend of turning active heroines into powerless damsels in distress. Walt Disney considered even the Victorian versions of the tales too dark for 20th century audiences. "It's just that people now don't want fairy stories the way they were written," Disney commented. "They were too rough." ~ Terri Windling
Walt quotes by Terri Windling
In most instances, the driving force behind the action is the mood, the personality, the attitude of the character - or all three. Therefore, the mind is the pilot. We think of things before the body does them. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
You know, the only way I've found to make these pictures is with animators. You can't seem to do it with accountants and bookkeepers. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Always fight for quality, whether giving or receiving. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
America doesn't know today how proud she ought to be of her Ingersoll. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
We love to entertain kings and queens, but at Disneyland, everyone is a V.I.P. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
I do not ask the wounded person how he feels, I myself become the wounded person. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
When one reaches out to help another he touches the face of God. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
It's the interaction between those characters that really makes that movie as special as it is, and I'm proud to say, as you probably know, it was the highest grossing film of 2012, it's the highest grossing film that Walt Disney has ever put out, and it's the third highest grossing film ever, in the world. ~ Jeph Loeb
Walt quotes by Jeph Loeb
We believed in our idea - a family park where parents and children could have fun- together. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of all poems,
You shall possess the good of the earth and sun ... there are millions of suns left,
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand ... nor look through the eyes of the dead ... nor feed on the spectres in books,
You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me,
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
I swear I see what is better than to tell the best,
It is always to leave the best untold."
-from "A Song of the Rolling Earth ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Make room for the real important stuff."
- Tigger ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
I think a good study of music would be indispensable to the animators - a realization on their part of how primitive music is, how natural it is for people to want to go to music - a study of rhythm, the dance - the various rhythms enter into our lives every day. ~ Walt Disney
Walt quotes by Walt Disney
I announce the great individual, fluid as Nature, chaste, affectionate, compassionate, fully armed; I announce a life that shall be copious, vehement, spiritual, bold, And I announce an end that shall lightly and joyfully meet its translation. ~ Walt Whitman
Walt quotes by Walt Whitman
Walt Disney and I always said we were two children looking for our inner adults. ~ Dick Van Dyke
Walt quotes by Dick Van Dyke
When you're up against adversity, when your shots aren't falling, when guys are hanging on you, pushing you, fouling you, and you're not getting calls, that's when discipline matters. Instead of flying off the handle or blaming your teammates, the officials, or the opposition, players have to keep calm and act decisively to change the tide. Playing the blame game is a sure sign that a team has not jelled and is taking the wrong path ~ Walt Frazier
Walt quotes by Walt Frazier
Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either. ~ Walt Disney Company
Walt quotes by Walt Disney Company
