My goofiest-sounding secret is that I also believe in magic. Sometimes I call it God and sometimes I call it light, and I believe in it because every now and then I read a really good book or hear a really good song or have a really good conversation with a friend and they seem to have some kind of shine to them. The list I keep of these moments in the back of my journal is comprised less of times when I was laughing or smiling and more of times when I felt like I could feel the colors in my eyes deepening from the display before me. Times in which I felt I was witnessing an all-encompassing representation of life driven by an understanding that, coincidence or not, our existence is a peculiar thing, and perhaps the greatest way to honor it is to just be human. To be happy AND sad, and everything else. And yeah, living is a pain, and I say I hate everyone and everything, and I don't exude much enthusiasm when sandwiched between fluorescent lighting and vinyl flooring for seven hours straight, and I will probably mumble a bunch about how much I wish I could sleep forever the next time I have to wake up at 6 AM. But make no mistake about it: I really do like living. I really, truly do. ~ Tavi Gevinson
Vinyl quotes by Tavi Gevinson
I've been making Bass Communion music longer than any kind of other music. I don't know if you picked up a copy of a vinyl release I put out a couple of years ago of something called Altamont ... ~ Steven Wilson
Vinyl quotes by Steven Wilson
He watched God flip through a few records before pulling one. He slid the vinyl out as carefully as Day would before placing it on the turntable. Soon Day's room was filled with the soft sounds of George Howard's Midnight Moods. It was a smooth, sexy jazz album; definitely one for making love to. Day's ~ A.E. Via
Vinyl quotes by A.E. Via
Vinyl, CDs or laptops, it doesn't matter - you should use whatever
you're comfortable with. If you're on the dancefloor and there's
good music coming out of the speakers, that should be enough. If
you're standing there storing your chin going: 'This would sound
better if it was on vinyl', yes it might do, but at the end of the
day, people want to go to a party. ~ John Digweed
Vinyl quotes by John Digweed
Follow the loglo outward, to where the growth is enfolded into the valleys and the canyons, and you find the land of the refugees. They have fled from the true America, the America of atomic bombs, scalpings, hip-hop, chaos theory, cement overshoes, snake handlers, spree killers, space walks, buffalo jumps, drive-bys, cruise missiles; Sherman's March, gridlock, motorcycle gangs, and bungee jumping. They have parallel-parked their bimbo boxes in identical computer-designed Burbclave street patterns and secreted themselves in symmetrical sheetrock shitholes with vinyl floors and ill-fitting woodwork and no sidewalks, vast house farms out in the loglo wilderness, a culture medium for a medium culture. ~ Neal Stephenson
Vinyl quotes by Neal Stephenson
I have a lot of vinyl, but I only buy old records on vinyl. Like secondhand. It's too expensive otherwise. ~ Caitlin Rose
Vinyl quotes by Caitlin Rose
I love vinyl, but I'm not a 'vinyl person'. I still collect, but most of my stuff is digital. ~ Tim Hecker
Vinyl quotes by Tim Hecker
If you go to Japan, they're still buying vinyl, and they want the education. They know who's playing on what tracks from the '60s and the '70s - who the guitar player is, who the drummer is, who the producer was, what studio it was recorded in. That's how I grew up listening to music. We bought albums. We read the liner notes. It was important to know the whole history behind it. ~ Lenny Kravitz
Vinyl quotes by Lenny Kravitz
Should I have taken him by the hand and led him over to the Zappa? No. I won't spoon-feed the customers. If you don't know your alphabet, you have no business leaving your house, let alone shopping for premium music. ~ Yvonne Prinz
Vinyl quotes by Yvonne Prinz
If I'm on a train, with headphones, MP3s are great. At home, I prefer CD or vinyl, partly because they sound a little better in a quiet room and partly because they're finite in length and separate things, unlike the endless days and days of music stored on my laptop. ~ Jonny Greenwood
Vinyl quotes by Jonny Greenwood
I'm very excited about the resurgence of vinyl which seems to parallel a growing interest in live performance. ~ Saul Williams
Vinyl quotes by Saul Williams
The scary thing is when I did my set in Texas everyone was excited. The show was great. I was done and the next DJ put something on vinyl and the difference! The quality!! ~ Peter Hook
Vinyl quotes by Peter Hook
It was very nerve-wracking for me. I had to be drunk and have a threesome. I'm not that guy. Bobby Cannavale is that guy. But it was Vegas and things got crazy, and it happened. We go to Vegas to try to sign Elvis Presley and things get crazy. My character [in Vinyl] is stoned. ~ Ray Romano
Vinyl quotes by Ray Romano
Every room I've lived in since I was given my own room at eleven was lined with, and usually overfull of, books. My employment in bookstores was always continuous with my private hours: shelving and alphabetizing, building shelves, and browsing
in my collection and others
in order to understand a small amount about the widest possible number of books. Such numbers of books are constantly acquired that constant culling is necessary; if I slouch in this discipline, the books erupt. I've also bricked myself in with music
vinyl records, then compact discs. My homes have been improbably information-dense, like capsules for survival of a nuclear war, or models of the interior of my own skull. That comparison
room as brain
is one I've often reached for in describing the rooms of others, but it began with the suspicion that I'd externalized my own brain, for anyone who cared to look. ~ Jonathan Lethem
Vinyl quotes by Jonathan Lethem
Vinyl survived, we managed not to kill it. Knowing that you've taken part in this fight ... You can't imagine the happiness it brings. Every time I see a kid going out of the store with a vinyl record under the arms, my heart beats faster. Music should only be this. An intense emotion. ~ Jack White
Vinyl quotes by Jack White
As you wish, of course." Lucius lowered the volume on an old record player, which spun a warped vinyl disk that wailed unfamiliar music, scratchy and whiny, like cats fighting. Or a coffin with rusty hinges opening and closing over and over again in a deserted mausoleum. "Do you like Croatian folk?" heasked, seeing my interest. "It reminds me of home."
"I prefer normal music."
"Ah, yes, your MTV with all the bumping and grinding. Like a shot of raging adolescent hormones administered via television. I'm not averse. ~ Beth Fantaskey
Vinyl quotes by Beth Fantaskey
I've always been a fan of vinyl. There's something about the ritual of it. Something about it holds its gravity, for some reason. Sometimes you'll put on music and the music fades into the background. But when you take that vinyl out and put it down, the music becomes the conversation as opposed to being the soundtrack to it. ~ Frank Iero
Vinyl quotes by Frank Iero
I turned myself into a vinyl hawk, scouring record shops for out-of-print LPs, studying them with Talmudic intensity. The music I loved would all be dug out of studio archives and put onto CD within a few years, but then it was still scratchy and moldy and entirely my own. ~ Jonathan Lethem
Vinyl quotes by Jonathan Lethem
The previous day she had been on a conference call with a younger Urban Outfitters marketing team member (the chain now sells more vinyl and turntables than anyone else in America), who asked Braun what the little lines on the records meant. "I had to tell her those are the songs," she said. ~ David Sax
Vinyl quotes by David Sax
When I received the invitation to "check out" Fairport I knew absolutely nothing about them, all I knew was that they were beginning to establish themselves as an underground favorite, by playing regularly at the UFO club in Covent Garden. But the crowd I was running with at the time were listening to a completely different genre of music. So I had nothing to go on, there was nothing on vinyl, Fairport's recording days were still ahead of them. ~ Iain Matthews
Vinyl quotes by Iain Matthews
I love Rebel Rebel in Manhattan's West Village for vinyl, but record stores are hard to come by these days. I almost don't even use iTunes. I mostly use music subscription services. But I'll go into Rebel Rebel once a month or so and buy everything I love on vinyl. ~ Jake Shears
Vinyl quotes by Jake Shears
I like everything in this iPhone, iPod world where you can do everything all the time. Back in my time, you bought a vinyl record when you were a kid and took it home, and it took a bit of effort to actually get it out of the thing and not scratch it. ~ Rick Astley
Vinyl quotes by Rick Astley
I buy records - vinyl. I have a record player at home. ~ Amber Heard
Vinyl quotes by Amber Heard
When people would ask me what I'm addicted to, I always said 'music.' And while they'd laugh it off like it's a cliché, I'm actually a complete shopaholic when it comes to records. I'd literally buy 10 albums a week for years, so when I went to that Virgin Records and it said 'going out of business,' my heart stopped. ~ Blake Lewis
Vinyl quotes by Blake Lewis
There, alone in the sterile room, sitting on a pink vinyl chair that boasts many cracks in its once nice upholster, you wait. You think to yourself , who would have thought I would be ringing in the New Year by urinating into a cup to see if I have chlamydia? ~ Amanda Steele
Vinyl quotes by Amanda Steele
You can't roll a joint on an iPod, buy vinyl. ~ Shelby Lynne
Vinyl quotes by Shelby Lynne
Some of our early work was two minutes twenty when it actually came out on vinyl, very, very, very short. Sometimes if you made a three-minute record they would make you do an edited version for radio, particularly in America. ~ Pete Townshend
Vinyl quotes by Pete Townshend
You know, the sound of a 45 rpm record being played at 33 rpm. But as soon as I remembered that this is a CD and not vinyl, I could only marvel at the fact that these guys are so gol-darned HEAVY [author's emphasis]."25 In an interview with the now-defunct influential extreme hardcore band Lärm, a band member recalls an incident in which the band's definition of music collided with a sound engineer's more mainstream ditto: "The sound check of our first concert ever was funny, the PA guy kept asking us when we were actually going to play a song…we already played three, we said.He shut down the PA and left… ~ Christopher J. Washburne
Vinyl quotes by Christopher J. Washburne
The only advantage of the CD is that you have a booklet that can tell a bit of a story, but the little covers are just boring. I love vinyl, and I have loads of it. It's the same thing as digital photography versus film photography. It's a quality thing. ~ Anton Corbijn
Vinyl quotes by Anton Corbijn
I like the fact that everyone is nostalgic for vinyl, and I'm being nostalgic for CDs, which are like the new outdated things that no one is going to mourn the loss of - everyone's already written them off. ~ Alexis Taylor
Vinyl quotes by Alexis Taylor
I played a lot of acetates at the end of my vinyl period - I used to make tracks and get them pressed in four or five days - but the quality was always so bad and they would skip all the time. The vinyl days for me are over. I still buy vinyl, but only albums, and just to play. For DJing, vinyl is a nightmare. ~ Tiesto
Vinyl quotes by Tiesto
I inherited this collection of vinyl records, which at that time numbered 6,000, and I've since continued to collect music. As you know, vinyl records can be very heavy, so every time I have to move into a new house, I need to build a complete new wall of shelves to put all these records, which is a nightmare for the architect. ~ Frida Giannini
Vinyl quotes by Frida Giannini
Oftentimes, when people cut a record from analog tape to vinyl, they digitize the music first; I did a little investigating and discovered that most vinyl records that I've ever heard were digitized before they were put onto vinyl. ~ Kevin Shields
Vinyl quotes by Kevin Shields
There is definitely a nostalgia, and I am very sentimental, so I don't begrudge people for having sentimental feelings towards vinyl. ~ John Vanderslice
Vinyl quotes by John Vanderslice
My parents had a huge pile of records - vinyl! - that I loved, especially the Motown stuff, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding. ~ Jonny Lang
Vinyl quotes by Jonny Lang
My older brother had a lot of Elvis on vinyl, and really, that was my first introduction to music during the Fifties. ~ Kiki Dee
Vinyl quotes by Kiki Dee
Kit spoke vintage vinyl in all its dialects. And he casually rubbed elbows with stars from all walks of life. Oh, and he was twenty. And drop-dead gorgeous. Kit Hemion was a very big way Aaron's Records made money with the West Side set. ~ Suzanne Stroh
Vinyl quotes by Suzanne Stroh
Key West has become an imitation of its former self, its eccentricities commoditized for sale to tourists. That "character" you see with a parrot on his shoulder is about as authentic as vinyl siding, employed to provide local color. Gargantuan cruise ships dock two or three times a week, disgorging passengers by the thousands to troll the cheesy T-shirt shops on the main drag, Duval Street. And with all sorts of diversions to keep visitors occupied, like parasailing and jet skiing, tourist season is year-round, clogging the streets with autos, bikes, motor scooters, and pedestrians. I ~ Philip Caputo
Vinyl quotes by Philip Caputo
The genius of vinyl is that it allows - commands! - us to put our fingerprints all over that history: to blend and chop and reconfigure it, mock and muse upon it, backspin and skip through it. ~ Adam Mansbach
Vinyl quotes by Adam Mansbach
You must be clever, Tracey to do these forgeries."
"She's not clever. I did them," yelled Frieda.
"You'll get five years."
"She did them."
From Halfpennies and Blue Vinyl ~ Robyn Quaker
Vinyl quotes by Robyn Quaker
When we were making vinyl records we had a lot of time limitations for each record so songs were left off for a number of reasons. Now, with CDs, much more music can be included. ~ Ken Hensley
Vinyl quotes by Ken Hensley
He longed for a dim-eyed little slut with a big, bright mouth and black vinyl underwear. ~ Mary Gaitskill
Vinyl quotes by Mary Gaitskill
Steve Jobs was a digital pioneer, but when he went home, he listened to vinyl. ~ Neil Young
Vinyl quotes by Neil Young
The decision about digital or film is going to be made for us. I think the answer is that film is gonna be gone, although I think it'll make a comeback; it'll be like vinyl records or something. ~ James Gray
Vinyl quotes by James Gray
people. When choosing upholstery, your primary concern should be maintenance. Always use commercial-grade upholstery that has been treated with stain-resistant chemicals to maximize its useful life. Commercial-grade vinyl comes in many colors, patterns, and textures and is durable and easy to clean. Some of the higher grades are indistinguishable from leather and could easily ~ Roger Fields
Vinyl quotes by Roger Fields
I think it's important for people who love music to retain physical CDs or even vinyl, because it sounds so great and so much warmer than music over the internet. ~ Norah Jones
Vinyl quotes by Norah Jones
There was this cheap motel on the outskirts of town called the Tick-Tock Inn, with green-and-yellow vinyl curtains and beds that smelled like mothballs and ass. ~ Maris Black
Vinyl quotes by Maris Black
With blue vinyl-tile floor, pale-green wainscoating, pink walls, a yellow ceiling, and orange-and-white stork-patterned drapes, the expectant fathers' lounge churned with the negative energy of color overload. It would have served well as the nervous-making set for a nightmare about a children's-show host who led a secret life as an ax murderer. The chain-smoking clown didn't improve the ambience. ~ Dean Koontz
Vinyl quotes by Dean Koontz
Mary reached into her vinyl purse and extracted one of the novels, each of whose covers had promised laughter and tears. She began to read and, finding a masterful storyteller behind its pages, was instantly and gratefully transported to another place. ~ Lori Lansens
Vinyl quotes by Lori Lansens
The vintage dinette chairs featured chrome-plated steel legs and seats upholstered in black vinyl. Very 1950s. She liked the '50s. The world hadn't gone crazy yet. As she sat at a chromed table with a red Formica top, paging through the newspaper, she drank her first coffee of the day, which she called her "wind-me-up cup." To ~ Dean Koontz
Vinyl quotes by Dean Koontz
I'm a Beatles fan, and I remember in the mid-1980s, when CDs first came out, there was a sound of vinyl and the sound of the needle on it that people loved, and suddenly CDs were threatening. ~ Peter Jackson
Vinyl quotes by Peter Jackson
Blue," he warned, but his voice was chaotic. This close, his throat was scented with mint and wool sweater and vinyl car seat, and Gansey, just Gansey.
She said, "I just want to pretend. I want to pretend that I could. ~ Maggie Stiefvater
Vinyl quotes by Maggie Stiefvater
I definitely love record stores. And worked in many over the years. Having said that, it's not necessarily that I love vinyl per se. I mean, I'm happy to use CDs and MP3s: to me, it's the music that's top priority. I do have a good collection of vinyl, but I rarely actually pull it out. ~ Gary Calamar
Vinyl quotes by Gary Calamar
I like keeping music in front of people. I try to sell at shows as much as I can - setting up a distro table and bringing out crates of vinyl and some CDs. That's my favorite way to sell because you're actually face-to-face with the customer. ~ Chris Black
Vinyl quotes by Chris Black
Don't care what anyone tells me. The future's vinyl,' he said ... Life has surface noise! Do you want to listen to furniture polish? ~ Rachel Joyce
Vinyl quotes by Rachel Joyce
Kids today don't know that much about vinyl. ~ Martin Gore
Vinyl quotes by Martin Gore
Consider the trivial but revealing hallmarks of urban hipsterdom: faux vintage photography, the handlebar mustache, and vinyl record players all hark back to an earlier time when people were still optimistic about the future. If everything worth doing has already been done, you may as well feign an allergy to achievement and become a barista. ~ Peter Thiel
Vinyl quotes by Peter Thiel
More people seem to know the Van der Graaf Generator material than my solo work - thanks, I suppose, to their parents' lingering vinyl collections. ~ Peter Hammill
Vinyl quotes by Peter Hammill
A dingy emblem on the door depicted a little boy peeing into a pot. The rest of the bar was equally drab and tasteless. Dim bulbs behind red-tasseled lamp shades barely illuminated each of a dozen maroon vinyl booths, which marched along one wall toward the murky front windows. Chipped Formica tables anchored the booths in place. Opposite the row of booths was a long, scarred wooden bar with uncomfortable-looking stools. Behind the bar, sitting on glass shelves in front of a cloudy mirror, were endless rows of bottles, each looking as forlorn as the folks for whom they waited.
He caught the strong odors of liquor and tobacco smoke, and the weaker scents of cleaning chemicals and vomit. In one of the booths , two heads bobbed with the movement of mug-clenching fists. A scrawny bartender with droopy eyelids picked his teeth with a swizzle stick and chatted quietly with a woman seated at the bar. Otherwise the bar was empty. ~ Robert Liparulo
Vinyl quotes by Robert Liparulo
This person has hoped and dreamed and now it is really happening and this person can hardly believe it. But believing is not an issue here, the time for faith and fantasy is over, it is really really happening. It involves stepping forward and bowing. Possibly there is some kneeling, such as when one is knighted. One is almost never knighted. But this person may kneel and receive a tap on each shoulder with a sword. Or, more likely, this person will be in a car or a store or under a vinyl canopy when it happens. Or online or on the phone. It could be an e-mail re: your knighthood. Or a long, laughing, rambling phone message in which every person this person has ever known is talking on a speakerphone and they are all saying, You have passed the test, it was all just a test, we were only kidding, real life is so much better than that. ~ Miranda July
Vinyl quotes by Miranda July
Not only are we digital immigrants, we are also media dinosaurs. We enjoy thumbing through glossy magazines, and maybe still subscribe to a daily newspaper. We schedule at least one evening per week around a favorite TV program, created by one of the major television or cable networks. We can name at least one local or national news anchor. And scattered around our homes and offices are veritable graveyards of physical media - old tapes, vinyl records, floppy disks, and magazines - that we insist on keeping, even though we'll probably never use them again. ~ Ian Lamont
Vinyl quotes by Ian Lamont
With vinyl you had twenty-two minutes per side. CDs came along, and you had sixty, seventy, eighty minutes and people felt like they had to fill them up. They were like those Fuji apples from Japan. They look like perfect, super-gigantic versions of American apples. ~ Mark Mothersbaugh
Vinyl quotes by Mark Mothersbaugh
The first bit of vinyl I bought was Michael Jackson's 'Bad.' ~ Olly Murs
Vinyl quotes by Olly Murs
I always say that as church falls into demise, we still have the inclination to congregate whether by a night of music or a festival, or just sitting down to listen to some vinyl ... ~ Daniel Lanois
Vinyl quotes by Daniel Lanois
A lot of people that buy vinyl today don't realise that they're listening to CD masters on vinyl and that's because the record companies have figured out that people want vinyl, And they're only making CD masters in digital, so all the new products that come out on vinyl are actually CDs on vinyl, which is really nothing but a fashion statement. ~ Neil Young
Vinyl quotes by Neil Young
Until recently, I was an ebook sceptic, see; one of those people who harrumphs about the "physical pleasure of turning actual pages" and how ebook will "never replace the real thing". Then I was given a Kindle as a present. That shut me up. Stock complaints about the inherent pleasure of ye olde format are bandied about whenever some new upstart invention comes along. Each moan is nothing more than a little foetus of nostalgia jerking in your gut. First they said CDs were no match for vinyl. Then they said MP3s were no match for CDs. Now they say streaming music services are no match for MP3s. They're only happy looking in the rear-view mirror. ~ Charlie Brooker
Vinyl quotes by Charlie Brooker
Where, then, is any particular gene - say, the gene for long legs in humans? This is a little like asking where is Beethoven's Piano Sonata in E minor. Is it in the original handwritten score? The printed sheet music? Any one performance - or perhaps the sum of all performances, historical and potential, real and imagined? The quavers and crotchets inked on paper are not the music. Music is not a series of pressure waves sounding through the air; nor grooves etched in vinyl or pits burned in CDs; nor even the neuronal symphonies stirred up in the brain of the listener. The music is the information. Likewise, the base pairs of DNA are not genes. They encode genes. Genes themselves are made of bits. ~ James Gleick
Vinyl quotes by James Gleick
For me, a record is valid when I actually hold the vinyl. Like, I've worked on the art for a while and I see the vinyl and I go "Ooh, it's an actual LP. How cool is that?" That's very sacred to me. You can't take that back, you know? ~ Ryan Adams
Vinyl quotes by Ryan Adams
I love every type of listening format, from MP3s to CDs to vinyl. There's something special about each one. It's a sign of the times. I love looking back, and even putting new music on vinyl - if it's right! ~ Brendon Urie
Vinyl quotes by Brendon Urie
Well, everybody faces the fact there really aren't many records stores around to just go and browse. Maybe browse online, yet that tactile feel of flipping through a stack of vinyl remains one of life's simple pleasures. ~ Billy Gibbons
Vinyl quotes by Billy Gibbons
We have a secret project at Third Man where we want to have the first vinyl record played in outer space. We want to launch a balloon that carries a vinyl record player. ~ Jack White
Vinyl quotes by Jack White
I put on the Hank Williams and the Patsy Cline and the Rosemary Clooney on vinyl - I'm not trying to be some cool indie-rock person, I just love the way it sounds - and throw on a T-shirt and jeans. In Texas, we practically come out of the womb in jeans. ~ Kelly Clarkson
Vinyl quotes by Kelly Clarkson
Everything sounds better on vinyl. It's not a trend. It's a fact. I ~ David Arnold
Vinyl quotes by David Arnold
When I mentioned to a friend I was writing a book about eggs he told me to be sure to mention how in Thomas Hardy's "Jude the Obscure" the young Arabella incubates a sky-blue egg of a song bird in the cleavage of her bosom ... When I checked, I was disappointed to find it wasn't a song thrush egg, but that of a chicken ... The original image in my mind disintegrated like the sound of a vinyl record after the power has been turned off. ~ Tim Birkhead
Vinyl quotes by Tim Birkhead
Mick Jagger also a music connoisseur and knows everything about that era. So, you knew the music side was going to be top-notch. It's HBO. On Men of Certain Age, if we wanted a song, it would break the bank. But, Vinyl can go all-out. ~ Ray Romano
Vinyl quotes by Ray Romano
If God drives a car, He'd drive a 1973 Ford LTD Brougham sedan with a claret-colored vinyl roof, with oxblood leather upholstery and an opera window. ~ Douglas Coupland
Vinyl quotes by Douglas Coupland
There's so much plastic in this culture that vinyl leopard skin is becoming an endangered synthetic. ~ Lily Tomlin
Vinyl quotes by Lily Tomlin
My dad has a huge vinyl collection downstairs, but I was never too interested. The only CD I had was by Adam Sandler. ~ Patrick Fugit
Vinyl quotes by Patrick Fugit
A few guys will get up there with turntables as purists, to play vinyl or whatever. ~ A-Trak
Vinyl quotes by A-Trak
People often forget this - a vinyl album could only contain a maximum of 20 minutes per side! ~ Ken Hensley
Vinyl quotes by Ken Hensley
If there is a record I don't have, I haven't heard it yet. My collection is always growing, but I can't really play it anywhere - no promoter is willing to pay for my crates of vinyl to fly with me, so I have a team of people to digitise it all. ~ Grandmaster Flash
Vinyl quotes by Grandmaster Flash
soldiers on the battlefield of consumerism, armed with vinyl-covered checkbooks and quilted handbags. ~ Gillian Flynn
Vinyl quotes by Gillian Flynn
Vinyl is democratic, as surely as the iPod is fascist. Vinyl is representational: It has a face. Two faces, in fact, to represent the dualism of human nature. Vinyl occupies physical space honestly, proud as a fat woman dancing. ~ Adam Mansbach
Vinyl quotes by Adam Mansbach
It's also ironic that in the old days of tape and tape hiss and vinyl records and surface noise, we were always trying to get records louder and louder to overcome that. ~ T Bone Burnett
Vinyl quotes by T Bone Burnett
I kind of stopped buying vinyl because I'm always on the road and you can never listen to it. ~ Simon Taylor-Davis
Vinyl quotes by Simon Taylor-Davis
I love vinyl, you know? To me it has depth, warmth, it's the best way to really sample. ~ RZA
Vinyl quotes by RZA
Since I was a kid, music has been a huge part of my life. My parents had a pretty solid vinyl collection and exposed me to some amazing artists. ~ Reid Scott
Vinyl quotes by Reid Scott
RHAPAW ran not on gasoline, but on the inexhaustible fuel of human hope. You would sit on the blisteringly hot vinyl seat and hope she would start, and then Ben would turn the key and the engine would turn over a couple times, like a fish on land making its last, meager, dying flops. And then you would hope harder, and the engine would turn over a couple more times. You hoped some more, and it would finally catch. ~ John Green
Vinyl quotes by John Green
Vinyl is the real deal. I've always felt like, until you buy the vinyl record, you don't really own the album. And it's not just me or a little pet thing or some kind of retro romantic thing from the past. It is still alive. ~ Jack White
Vinyl quotes by Jack White
The best customers are the ones who just have to buy a record on a Saturday, even if there's nothing they really want; unless they go home clutching a flat, square carrier bag, they feel uncomfortable. You can spot the vinyl addicts because after a while they get fed up with the rack they are flicking through, march over to a completely different section of the shop, pull a sleeve out from the middle somewhere, and come over to the counter; this is because they have been making a list of possible purchases in their head ("If I don't find anything in the next five minutes, that blues compilation I saw half an hour ago will have to do"), and suddenly sicken themselves with the amount of time they have wasted looking for something they don't really want. ~ Nick Hornby
Vinyl quotes by Nick Hornby
I think everything good and right in this world should be put on vinyl. ~ Jay Long
Vinyl quotes by Jay Long
Doublespeak has become so common in everyday living that we no longer pay any attention to it. Indeed, we seem to take it for granted, as if such language is the normal way of communicating, or more correctly, not communicating. Even worse, when we do notice it, we don't react. We don't protest when we're asked to check our packages at the desk "for your convenience" when it's not for our convenience at all but for someone else's convenience. We see advertisements for "deep-chilled chickens," "virgin vinyl," or "synthetic glass," but we don't question the language or the supposed quality of the product. We don't challenge the politicians who speak not of slums or ghettos but of the "inner city" or "substandard housing" where the "disadvantaged" live, thus avoiding any mention of the poor who have to live in filthy, poorly heated, ramshackle apartments or houses. ~ William D. Lutz
Vinyl quotes by William D. Lutz
One thing that did get me into a lot of different types of music was when I was very young, the local record store went out of business and they were selling off all the vinyl. I remember going in - I was probably 16 or 17 and I'd just gotten a record player as a present. It was like hitting the jackpot: all these records for $3 apiece. ~ Imelda May
Vinyl quotes by Imelda May
When I pull out vinyl - which isn't that often anymore - it's undeniable that I get a different feeling. There's a different physiology happening between the sound waves and the body that doesn't happen with music playing off the computer. ~ Beck
Vinyl quotes by Beck
I'm fairly tired of hipsters. They have terrible taste in music. These kids come in and say, 'You don't have anything that was released this year?' That makes me crazy. We don't need anything from this year! (Bob Diener, owner of Record Swap in Champaign, IL) ~ Eric Spitznagel
Vinyl quotes by Eric Spitznagel
Now everything is available at the push of a button, and that thrill of the search is gone. With vinyl albums and special edition releases, I feel like that's coming back. ~ Mark Hoppus
Vinyl quotes by Mark Hoppus
I still do mostly listen to CDs. I think that every format really is a different way of listening. If you take a different sort of psychological stance to it - like, I think the transition from vinyl to CD definitely marked a difference in the way people treated music. The vinyl commands a certain kind of reverence because it's a big object and quite fragile so you handle it rather carefully, and it's expensive so you pay attention to how it's looked after. ~ Brian Eno
Vinyl quotes by Brian Eno
Be happy. Be free. You have a universe inside you. ~ Sophia Elaine Hanson
Vinyl quotes by Sophia Elaine Hanson
My mother and father are very involved with music. It's completely part of their soul. They have an incredible record collection, all vinyl, of some of the best artists, in my eyes, that you can come across. ~ P.J. Harvey
Vinyl quotes by P.J. Harvey
It ain't no joke when you lose your vinyl. ~ Afrika Bambaataa
