It was not beautifully remade;
it was awkwardly dead ~ Sharon Kernot
Taxidermy quotes by Sharon Kernot
But when I make a good [taxidermy] mount I feel like I beat God in a small way. As though the Almighty said, Let such critter be dead, and I said, 'Fuck You, he can still play the banjo. ~ Christopher Buehlman
Taxidermy quotes by Christopher Buehlman
I'd love to have a room full of taxidermy. I'd be devastated if my cat, Archimedes, ever died. I was debating the other day with a friend whether I should stuff him, but don't know whether he would end up looking like himself. I'd be really sad if he looked strange. ~ Tuppence Middleton
Taxidermy quotes by Tuppence Middleton
You'd been petting a stuffed dog?' she said 'A dead one?'
'It was a really well stuffed dog' I clarified. 'I have seen some bad taxidermy. This was top-notch work. It would have fooled anyone. ~ Maureen Johnson
Taxidermy quotes by Maureen Johnson

Harry Dresden Taxidermy. If you snuff it, we'll stuff it. ~ Jim Butcher
Taxidermy quotes by Jim Butcher
[My work] includes something about death, and about love, because the photos always have something to do with death. The photograph is like taxidermy. It is like the animals I use. They are posed in order to appear to be alive, but they are dead. Their time has passed. The photos have to do with time and loss, and conclusion. ~ Annette Messager
Taxidermy quotes by Annette Messager
I feel like having an actual taxidermy-ed mammal would get gross, like its hair would get dirty and stuff. ~ Nick Antosca
Taxidermy quotes by Nick Antosca
Some people collect stamps. Some coins. Taxidermy. Fucking cards. I collect regrets. They don't take up much space, not physically, anyway. But inside. . .they occupy. They eat away. They ruin.
Because that's the thing about regrets. They're mistakes that left scars. Vicious, sensitive, searing wounds. ~ L.J. Shen
Taxidermy quotes by L.J. Shen
Charles Waterton and His Eccentric Taxidermy. ~ K.J. Charles
Taxidermy quotes by K.J. Charles
I love prints of skulls and bones and have some taxidermy - a crow and a rabbit - to remind me of home. I like art and have a big portrait of Bjork. ~ Ellie Goulding
Taxidermy quotes by Ellie Goulding
What she might have told him was that taxidermy, like sex, is a very personal subject; the manner in which we impose it on others should be discreet. ~ John Irving
Taxidermy quotes by John Irving
My room is like an antique shop, full of junk, and weird stuff. There's a big sword in there. And a taxidermy bird, and a couple of birdcages. And a lot of newspaper cuttings. I used to have a weird thing about cutting out morbid headlines from newspapers, and collecting them. I was fascinated with drowning, which is kind of strange. ~ Florence Welch
Taxidermy quotes by Florence Welch
I see it for what is is, now. It is a house built on ashes. Ashes of the life Granddad shared with Gran, ashes of the maple from which the tire swing flew, ashes of the old Victorian house with the porch and the hammock. The new house is built on the grave of all the trophies and symbols of the family: the New Yorker cartoons, the taxidermy, the embroidered pillows, the family portraits. ~ E. Lockhart
Taxidermy quotes by E. Lockhart
Taxidermy and taxes go together like peanut butter and sodomy. Can somebody get me two slices of bread? ~ Jarod Kintz
Taxidermy quotes by Jarod Kintz
I have taxidermy pets that are very close to me. I have a little lizard with a head that comes on and off that I call Nicolas Cage because his face is long. And I have a big diamondback rattlesnake called Rufus, and I have some rats in jars and stuff. ~ Mackenzie Davis
Taxidermy quotes by Mackenzie Davis
The universal logo for a pizzahut is eight slices painted cross a disc of yellow plywood mounted in the mouth of a taxidermic hippopotapus. ~ Noah Wareness
Taxidermy quotes by Noah Wareness
I wasn't even aware that there are different styles of taxidermy, traditional and rogue. I wound up really liking the rogue stuff the most, just because it is more artistic and people can go anywhere with it. That stuff I really liked. Honestly, I would have liked to buy some of those pieces. ~ Brian Posehn
Taxidermy quotes by Brian Posehn
Overtaken by demographic transformation and two generations of socio-geographic mobility, France's once-seamless history seemed set to disappear from national memory altogether.

The anxiety of loss had two effects. One was an increase in the range of the official patrimoine, the publicly espoused body of monuments and artifacts stamped 'heritage' by the authority of the state. In 1988, at the behest of Mitterrand's Culture Minister Jack Lang, the list of officially protected items in the patrimoine culturel of "France - previously restricted to UNESCO-style heirlooms such as the Pont du Gard near Nîmes, or Philip the Bold's ramparts at Aigues-Mortes - was dramatically enlarged.

It is revealing of the approach taken by Lang and his successors that among France's new 'heritage sites' was the crumbling façade of the Hôtel du Nord on Paris's Quai de Jemappes: an avowedly nostalgic homage to Marcel Carné's 1938 film classic of that name. But Carné shot that movie entirely in a studio. So the preservation of a building (or the façade of a building) which never even appeared in the film could be seen - according to taste - either as a subtle French exercise in post-modern irony, or else as symptomatic of the unavoidably bogus nature of any memory when subjected thus to official taxidermy. ~ Tony Judt
Taxidermy quotes by Tony Judt
Political science without biography is a form of taxidermy. ~ Harold Lasswell
