These tales, without exception, express the truth that justice triumphs in the end. They all contain the idea that it is worth while to fight for the truth, in any situation.
In this fight man is assisted by more powerful beings than ordinary mortals. And the triumph of justice is the only sense and consolation in this world. Indeed, the world itself started out with this hope. The human race received it long, long ago as a cradle-song. ~ Gyula Illyes
Story Telling quotes by Gyula Illyes
If I had to define my philosophy, it would be about exploration, a journey, a story-telling. ~ Hussein Chalayan
Story Telling quotes by Hussein Chalayan
I believe in stories that are non-linear, as we are (hopefully) ~ Natasha Tsakos
Story Telling quotes by Natasha Tsakos
Every story needs to be worth telling. ~ Vera Nazarian
Story Telling quotes by Vera Nazarian
I love those people who do story-telling and who ramble on, but I don't do that, I tell jokes - the sort of jokes that anyone really could tell in the pub. ~ Jimmy Carr
Story Telling quotes by Jimmy Carr
A myth, in its original Greek meaning- muthos- is simply that: a story, one which seeks to render life transparent to an intelligible source. ~ Jules Cashford
Story Telling quotes by Jules Cashford
However it ends, at least you had a story to tell. ~ Jay Kristoff
Story Telling quotes by Jay Kristoff
My mother had comforted me with tales ever since I was small. Sometimes they helped me peel a problem like an onion, or gave me ideas about what to do; other times, they calmed me so much that I would fall into a soothing sleep. My father used to say that her tales were better than the best medicine. Sighing, I burrowed into my mother's body like a child, knowing that the sound of her voice would be a balm on my heart. ~ Anita Amirrezvani
Story Telling quotes by Anita Amirrezvani
To me God's voice and inspiration is stronger, of greater importance and authority than that of any fairy or any other spirit like creature from above or below earth. My Spirit Tales are stories based on truth and inspired by His writings.
Stories about YHWH and His great wonderful acts are definitely not fairytales but Spirit Tales. ~ Sipporah Joseph
Story Telling quotes by Sipporah Joseph
Literature is conscious mythology: as society develops, its mythical stories become structural principles of story-telling, its mythical concepts, sun-gods and the like, become habits of metaphoric thought. In a fully mature literary tradition the writerenters intoa structure of traditional stories and images. ~ Northrop Frye
Story Telling quotes by Northrop Frye
The reason for our confusion is that we usually read the Bible as a series of disconnected stories, each with a "moral" for how we should live our lives. It is not. Rather, it comprises a single story, telling us how the human race got into its present condition, and how God through Jesus Christ has come and will come to put things right. ~ Timothy Keller
Story Telling quotes by Timothy Keller
What is life truly like - once we strip away all of the story telling and anger and pain? Can we bring ourselves to say, "Thank you for everything; I have no complaint whatsoever"? This doesn't mean that we should be grateful only because things could be worse (although they could). Nor does it mean that things couldn't be better. It means, No matter what happens, PERFECT. No matter what happens, thank you! ~ Stephanee Killen
Story Telling quotes by Stephanee Killen
I wouldn't have thought that the techniques of story-telling, which is what the novel is after all, can vary much because there are two things involved. There's a story and there's a listener, whose attention you have to keep. Now the only way in which you can keep a reader's attention to a story is in his wanting to know what is going to happen next. This puts a fairly close restriction on the method you must use. ~ William Golding
Story Telling quotes by William Golding
Fiction and non-fiction are only different techniques of story telling. For reasons I do not fully understand, fiction dances out of me. Non-fiction is wrenched out by the aching, broken world I wake up to every morning. ~ Arundhati Roy
Story Telling quotes by Arundhati Roy
I leave a lot out when I tell the truth. The same when I write a story. ~ Amy Hempel
Story Telling quotes by Amy Hempel
Hallelujah! Amen! Christianity is so inherent in western story-telling, you can't really get around it. But it wasn't something that drew me to it more or less. ~ Keanu Reeves
Story Telling quotes by Keanu Reeves
The question, then, is not "Is story telling science?" but "Can science learn to tell good stories?" (p. 50) ~ Irving Seidman
Story Telling quotes by Irving Seidman
You know there's some great folks, great story telling at 'Dateline,' and I'm glad to be a part of it. ~ Lester Holt
Story Telling quotes by Lester Holt
He would not mind hearing Petrus's story one day. But preferably not reduced to English. More and more he is convinced that English is an unfit medium for the truth of South Africa. Stretches of English code whole sentences long have thickened, lost their articulations, their articulateness, their articulatedness. Like a dinosaur expiring and settling in the mud, the language has stiffened. Pressed into the mold of English, Petrus's story would come out arthritic, bygone(117). ~ J.M. Coetzee
Story Telling quotes by J.M. Coetzee
All of the great mythologies and much of the mythic story-telling of the world are from the male point of view. When I was writing The Hero with a Thousand Faces and wanted to bring female heroes in, I had to go to the fairy tales. These were told by women to children, you know, and you get a different perspective. It was the men who got involved in spinning most of the great myths. The women were too busy; they had too damn much to do to sit around thinking about stories. [...]
In the Odyssey, you'll see three journeys. One is that of Telemachus, the son, going in quest of his father. The second is that of the father, Odysseus, becoming reconciled and related to the female principle in the sense of male-female relationship, rather than the male mastery of the female that was at the center of the Iliad. And the third is of Penelope herself, whose journey is [...] endurance. Out in Nantucket, you see all those cottages with the widow's walk up on the roof: when my husband comes back from the sea. Two journeys through space and one through time. ~ Joseph Campbell
Story Telling quotes by Joseph Campbell
I always have a feeling you should move the playing field and the minute you know what you're doing, you're wrong. Therefore, I wanted us not to try to follow Spamalot immediately, but to do something different. This is perfect because it uses all the same skills, like story telling and lyric writing and music writing, but it's presenting it in a different form. And of course it gives me and John a nice chance to perform and show off which is also fun. ~ Eric Idle
Story Telling quotes by Eric Idle
Throughout history, story telling was at the very beginning of life. ~ Anthony Horowitz
Story Telling quotes by Anthony Horowitz
My wife is the fact-checker, I'm in the story telling business. ~ Baz Luhrmann
Story Telling quotes by Baz Luhrmann
Escaping into the fantasy of intellectual investigation or narrative story telling makes me feel hopeful. That too is a fiction, but one that makes me feel good sometimes. ~ Andrew Neel
Story Telling quotes by Andrew Neel
For as long as she can remember, telling stories has been her momma's gift to those around her, fables filled with rich, detailed accounts of gods and monsters, of love and curses. She can weave a tale from Spanish moss and moonlight that will make a young girl's heart resonate with yearning or weep with anguish. Her coastal Georgia roots add a dark sweetness to all her narratives, one that stains her stories with sorrow like a drop of molasses dissolving in warm butter. ~ Sara Stark
Story Telling quotes by Sara Stark
There's no point in making up a world, Elisabeth said, when there's already a real world, There's just the world, and there's the truth about the world.
You mean there's the truth, and there's the made-up version of it that we get told about the world, Daniel said.
No. The world exists. Stories are made up, Elisabeth said.
But no less true for that, Daniel said. ~ Ali Smith
Story Telling quotes by Ali Smith
Books that take us to an exotic place and never let the grit of that place get under our fingernails...are far less successful. One leaves the places of the book and never feels like one's really gotten one's imaginative passport stamped. ~ Andrew Lazo
Story Telling quotes by Andrew Lazo
Wine is a story that gives birth to stories, and man, a story-telling animal. ~ Neel Burton
Story Telling quotes by Neel Burton
He found himself thinking that maybe stories don't just make us matter to each other - maybe they're also the only way to the infinite mattering he'd been after for so long.
And Colin thought: Because like say I tell someone about my feral hog hunt. Even if it's a dumb story, telling it changes other people just the slightest little bit, just as living the story changes me. An infinitesimal change. And that infinitesimal change ripples outward - ever smaller but everlasting. I will get forgotten, but the stories will last. And so we all matter - maybe less than a lot, but always more than some. ~ John Green
Story Telling quotes by John Green
I beg of you, you good people who want to hear stories told: look at this page and recognize the wisdom of my grandmother and of all old story-telling women! ~ Isak Dinesen
Story Telling quotes by Isak Dinesen
I believe that we need good tale-tellers now, as much as we did when the oral tradition was the only way that they were passed on; that the active transmission of stories plays a vital role in the development of the brain. The quality of the stories that surround us as we grow up is vitally important to our well-being, in the same way as the quality of food and our environment. The most beautiful aspect of this shared story-telling - and we have great examples of this in Tales from the Perilous Realm - is that the collaboration and engagement between teller and audience means that they are embarking on a journey together, which can lead to the most unexpected and wondrous of places. ~ Alan Lee
Story Telling quotes by Alan Lee
Human love is the shadow of the Great love; its child. And of all human loves, it is romantic love which has the most riveting effect upon our soul. Ageless and perennial, it is forever finding an outlet in poetry, music, dance, story-telling, and the media. We never tire of it. It commands attention at so many turns, such is the longing for its presence in our life. It is not by accident that it has such an unfailing pull on our psyche. If we cannot connect with visible human love, we will not be able to find the invisible Love. Human love is leading us, most of us unknowingly, straight to the divinity of our own nature. And that nature leads us, in turn, to the source of life itself. ~ Donna Goddard
Story Telling quotes by Donna Goddard
Sometimes it seems that half of the fairy tales of the world are some form of Cinderella, ugly duckling, or poor boy story, telling of the little person who has no power or possessions who ends up being king or queen, prince or princess. We write it off as wishful dreaming, when it is actually the foundational pattern of disguise or amnesia, loss, and recovery. Every Beauty is sleeping, it seems, before it can meet its Prince. The duckling must be "ugly," or there will be no story. The knight errant must be wounded, or he will never even know what the Holy Grail is, much less find it. Jesus must be crucified, or there can be no resurrection. It is written in our hardwiring, but can only be heard at the soul level. It will usually be resisted and opposed at the ego level. ~ Richard Rohr
Story Telling quotes by Richard Rohr
I often don't have a clear idea of what I am going to be drawing when I start, unless it is for a very specific purpose. Most of the time, I just sit down and draw a line, and it isn't really related to anything other than this vague feeling of movement or atmosphere. That line will lead to another, and then forms will start to appear, and figures will start to appear. I usually start things very intuitively, and sort of watch the process, almost as a spectator ... and then at some point I have to think about what I'm creating, and consciously shape it. If I am doing something for a film or book illustration, then I'm also thinking about a lot of other factors, such as composition and story-telling. ~ Alan Lee
Story Telling quotes by Alan Lee
For it is not Histories that I am writing, but Lives; and in the most illustrious deeds there is not always a manifestation of virtue or vice, nay, a slight thing like a phrase or a jest often makes a greater revelation of character than battles where thousands fall, or the greatest armaments, or sieges of cities. ~ Plutarch
Story Telling quotes by Plutarch
All good storytellers study psychology ... Novelists, filmmakers, even actors. You have to know the rules of human behavior before you can make your characters break them. ~ Katharine McGee
Story Telling quotes by Katharine McGee
The life of the hero of the tale is, at the outset, overshadowed by bitter and hopeless struggles; one doubts that the little swineherd will ever be able to vanquish the awful Dragon with the twelve heads. And yet, ... truth and courage prevail and the youngest and most neglected son of the family, of the nation, of mankind, chops off all twelve heads of the Dragon, to the delight of our anxious hearts. This exultant victory, towards which the hero of the tale always strives, is the hope and trust of the peasantry and of all oppressed peoples. This hope helps them bear the burden of their destiny. ~ Gyula Illyes
Story Telling quotes by Gyula Illyes
Revenge. Justice. Love. They are the three stories that all other stories are made up of. It's the trifecta. ~ April Genevieve Tucholke
Story Telling quotes by April Genevieve Tucholke
Miss the audience's heart as a filmmaker, and the only wallet that gets hit will be your own. That's because the heart is always the first target in story telling. ~ Peter Guber
Story Telling quotes by Peter Guber
I love political dramas. I love good story-telling. ~ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Story Telling quotes by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
story telling is not a career, it's a calling. I've been writing true and compelling news my entire professional life. My novels are packs of lies ~ Glen Carter
Story Telling quotes by Glen Carter
Elrond's house was perfect, whether you liked food or sleep or story-telling or singing (or reading), or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness ... Evil things did not come into the secret valley of Rivendell. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Story Telling quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
I've always felt that the comic strip medium stands equally beside all the other story telling mediums: novels, movies, stage plays, opera, you know, you name it. ~ Dave Gibbons
Story Telling quotes by Dave Gibbons
Storytelling connects us with all of humanity. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Story Telling quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
The Church is enamored with skilled orators and performers working the stage like a choreographed Broadway play. Others profess to talk about how Jesus ministry was mere story telling like through parables and that is why it was so effective. It is though there is some magical incantation, if we just repeat then things will happen. It is like the current modernity movement in the church, dumb it down that is the problem. If we just take away the mystery and otherness of God then we will know and see God, really? ~ Jonah Books.com
Story Telling quotes by Jonah Books.com
There are no souls, Melba thought with a touch of pity. We are bags of meat with a little electricity running through them. No ghosts, no spirits, no souls. The only thing that survives is the story people tell about you. ~ James S.A. Corey
Story Telling quotes by James S.A. Corey
As I approach a new project, my process always begins with the question: what is it about? Here's one answer that might apply to a Star Trek movie...

I want it to be about the most horrible, treacherous aliens ever known to man who are about to destroy life as we know it, leading to the most spectacular thrill ride of an adventure with fantastic space battles and huge explosions and great special effects -- a white knuckle ride for the movie audience.

Yeah, but what's it about?

I can write space battles with the best of them, but what makes that space battle interesting to me is: why are they fighting? What are the stakes? What does the hero lose if he loses? And what does he win if he wins? Why should we care?

I'm talking about the second level of story-telling. The level that examines what's going on inside the characters - their moral and ethical dilemmas, their doubts, fears, inner conflicts, how they change as the story progresses. These are the things that make us, as members of an audience, get emotionally involved. ~ Michael Piller
Story Telling quotes by Michael Piller
Frodo was now safe in the Last Homely House east of the Sea. That house was, as Bilbo had long ago reported, 'a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all.' Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear and sadness. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Story Telling quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
How objects are handed on is all about story-telling. I am giving you this because I love you. Or because it was given to me. Because I bought it somewhere special. Because you will care for it. Because it will complicate your life. Because it will make someone else envious. There is no easy story in legacy. What is remembered and what is forgotten? ~ Edmund De Waal
Story Telling quotes by Edmund De Waal
You are where I unlock myself, where I say that I have often put down my wooden spoon to stare out the kitchen window to see the men I thought were magic for their story-telling or their way of walking, or the ones I was so strongly sexually attracted to, even though they weren't good people - at least not for me. ~ Elizabeth Berg
Story Telling quotes by Elizabeth Berg
While Leo fussed over his helm controls, Hazel and Frank relayed the story of the fish-centaurs and their training camp.
'Incredible,' Jason said. 'These are really good brownies.'
'That's your only comment?' Piper demanded.
He looked surprised. 'What? I heard the story. Fish-centaurs. Merpeople. Letter of intro to the Tiber River god. Got it. But these brownies
'
'I know,' Frank said, his mouth full. 'Try them with Ester's peach preserves.'
'That,' Hazel said, 'is incredibly disgusting.'
'Pass me the jar, man,' Jason said.
Hazel and Piper exchanged a look of total exasperation. Boys. ~ Rick Riordan
Story Telling quotes by Rick Riordan
In this tradition a story is 'holy,' and it is used as medicine," she told Radiance magazine. "The story is not told to lift you up, to make you feel better, or to entertain you, although all those things can be true. The story is meant to take the spirit into a descent to find something that is lost or missing and to bring it back to consciousness again. ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Story Telling quotes by Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Wherever we live and wherever we come from is our individual heartland. Anything is possible and everything can happen. Pure imagination is in all of us - we only need to discover it, and sometimes story telling helps. ~ Mackenzie Flohr
Story Telling quotes by Mackenzie Flohr
Stories are our attempts to share our values & beliefs with the hopes that we may attract those who believe what we believe. This is the basis of forming a trusting relationship. Story telling, therefor, is only worthwhile when it tells what you stand for, not what you do. ~ Simon Sinek
Story Telling quotes by Simon Sinek
There is a folk-tale about a shoemaker and his wife who were so poor that they had to send their many children out into the world to make a living. The lads went through many a perilous adventure but came home in the end, unscathed, to help their mother. They had always remembered their mother's advice and wise words; they often quoted them when they were in trouble, and in fact they recognized one another by them in foreign lands.
The countless peoples of the world may be looked upon as so many children sent out into the world. They have gone through many adventures and hardships. They have drifted apart and fallen out with one another, on many occasions. They have failed to realize soon enough that they are brothers.
But now it seems that they are beginning to realize this
at least to the extent that they are able to get acquainted with each other's fundamental natures
through their stories and songs. ~ Gyula Illyes
Story Telling quotes by Gyula Illyes
Her eyes were distant, and she seemed to be listening to that voice that first told her the story, a mother, sister, or aunt. Then her voice, like her singing, cut through the crickets and crackling fire. ~ Shannon Hale
Story Telling quotes by Shannon Hale
I think story-telling is innate in human beings, it's something that we've done since we scrawled across cave walls. ~ Cameron Diaz
Story Telling quotes by Cameron Diaz
I don't ever want anything to come in the way of me truthfully telling a story. ~ Ian Somerhalder
Story Telling quotes by Ian Somerhalder
I want to make movies that people see. I really think that movies are the most popular form of story telling ever and have such a huge impact on culture when they do. ~ Alden Ehrenreich
Story Telling quotes by Alden Ehrenreich
To be completely ignorant of the collective past seems to me to be another state of amnesia; you would be untethered, adrift in time. Which is why all societies have sought some kind of memory bank, whether by way of folklore, story-telling, recitation of the ancestors--from Homer to Genesis. And why the heritage industry does so well today; most people may not be particularly interested in the narrative of the past, in the detail or the discussion, but they are glad to know that it is there. ~ Penelope Lively
Story Telling quotes by Penelope Lively
The worst of such stories is that the triumphant romancers can always be put to confusion and crushed by the very details in which real life is so rich and which these unhappy and involuntary story-tellers neglect as insignificant trifles. Oh, they have no thought to spare for such details, their minds are concentrated on their grand invention as a whole, and fancy any one daring to pull them up for a trifle! But that's how they are caught. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Story Telling quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Marketing, when done well, is about story telling. ~ Evan Williams
Story Telling quotes by Evan Williams
I say fuck the old advice 'show, don't tell.' It's called story TELLING for a reason, and I'll stick to it! ~ Ashly Lorenzana
Story Telling quotes by Ashly Lorenzana
His house was perfect, whether you liked food, or sleep, or work, or story-telling, or singing, or just sitting and thinking, best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Story Telling quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
The most important thing is story-telling. It's as singular and old-fashioned as that. ~ David Soul
Story Telling quotes by David Soul
It's no longer history in the making.
It's our story we are making. ~ Natasha Tsakos
Story Telling quotes by Natasha Tsakos
Thus I rediscovered what writers have always known (and have told us again and again): books always speak of other books, and every story tells a story that has already been told. ~ Umberto Eco
Story Telling quotes by Umberto Eco
Some people believe in telling stories. Some believe in doing things about which stories will be told in times to come. ~ Sharad Vivek Sagar
Story Telling quotes by Sharad Vivek Sagar
I used to write my own versions of famous tales, such as William Tell or Robin Hood, and illustrate them myself, too. When I entered my teens, I got more into horror and science fiction and wrote a lot of short stories. A literary education complicated things and for many years I wrote nothing but poetry. Then I got back to story-telling. ~ Peter Robinson
Story Telling quotes by Peter Robinson
He was a good storyteller, but he told the kind of stories that made children run away from the village and adults look for a length of rope and some soap. ~ Sorin Suciu
Story Telling quotes by Sorin Suciu
Most of the movies are working like, 'Information, cut, information, cut, information, cut' and for them the information is just the story. For me, a lot of things [are] information - I try to involve, to the movie, the time, the space, and a lot of other things - which is a part of our life but not connecting directly to the story-telling. And I'm working on the same way - 'information, cut, information, cut,' but for me the information is not only the story. ~ Bela Tarr
Story Telling quotes by Bela Tarr
Story-selling is the secret to successful brand selling ~ Bernard Kelvin Clive
Story Telling quotes by Bernard Kelvin Clive
The very act of story-telling, of arranging memory and invention according to the structure of the narrative, is by definition holy. We tell stories because we can't help it. We tell stories because we love to entertain and hope to edify. We tell stories because they fill the silence death imposes. We tell stories because they save us. ~ James Carroll
Story Telling quotes by James Carroll
I wanted wherever possible to lean into the comic form and do things in the story telling that could only be done in comics and which pay homage to the many strands of comic and visual storytelling tradition. ~ Arvind Ethan David
Story Telling quotes by Arvind Ethan David
Man is essentially a story-telling animal, but a teller of stories that aspire to truth. ~ Alasdair MacIntyre
Story Telling quotes by Alasdair MacIntyre
If sacrifice is not the theme of my life, there's no sense telling the story. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Story Telling quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
I always wanted to do an animated movie. I find it to be incredibly liberating as a way of telling a story. ~ Gore Verbinski
Story Telling quotes by Gore Verbinski
I am fortunate enough to have worked on, and continue to work on, evolutionary movies in all formats from just simple good story telling, which still matters most of all, to CG movies to tent-pole size 3D movies, and genre 3D movies like 'Piranha 3D.' ~ Mark Canton
Story Telling quotes by Mark Canton
My function as a writer is not story-telling but truth-telling: to make things plain. ~ Laura Riding
Story Telling quotes by Laura Riding
The Celtic folk-tales have been collected while the practice of story-telling is still in full vigour, though there is every sign that its term of life is already numbered. ~ Joseph Jacobs
Story Telling quotes by Joseph Jacobs
I had a story-telling mother; she's written novels and short stories. So I feel like maybe I'm staying alive by telling tales. ~ Ayshay
Story Telling quotes by Ayshay
Being an actor is an extension of telling a story and I loved story telling as a child. ~ Amanda Burton
Story Telling quotes by Amanda Burton
When I went to America, I spoke so much about who I was and gave so much away in a confessional, Irish, story-telling way that I suddenly realised I had given up a lot of myself. I had to shut up. ~ Pierce Brosnan
Story Telling quotes by Pierce Brosnan
Because the new the stories we tell, the art we make, the rockets we build, will influence the future that shapes our present. ~ Natasha Tsakos
Story Telling quotes by Natasha Tsakos
I love the way folktale and fantasy tap into the roots of story telling. The paradox, for me, is that by moving a story into the fantastic we can actually bring it closer to the reader, not move it further away. It is more than an escape. When we read of the only daughter of a fisherman (or the third son of a woodcutter) in a fairy tale, we are all that character. That's the underlying pulse beat of such tales. Using the fantastic as a prism for the past, if done properly, removes the tale from distancing specificity. It can't just be read as unique to a time and place; it is universalized in interesting, powerful ways. When I wrote Tigana, about the way tyranny tries to erase identity in conquered peoples, the fantasy setting seems to have done exactly that: I'm asked in places ranging from Korea to Poland to Croatia to Quebec, "Were you writing about us?"

I was. All of them. That is the point. The fantastic is a tool in the writer's arsenal, as potentially powerful as any there is, and any tool we have works to the benefit of the reader. ~ Guy Gavriel Kay
Story Telling quotes by Guy Gavriel Kay
Scientific practice is above all a story-telling practice ... Biology is inherently historical, and its form of discourse is inherently narrative ... Biology as a way of knowing the world is kin to Romantic literature, with its discourse about organic form and function. Biology is the fiction appropriate to objects called organisms; biology fashions the facts "discovered" about organic beings. ~ Donna J. Haraway
Story Telling quotes by Donna J. Haraway
I enjoy making solo albums because over the years it's evolved into more of a genuine personal expression of story-telling and day dreams, and I work in a way that has more control. ~ Bruce Dickinson
Story Telling quotes by Bruce Dickinson
I tell the story to you now, but in each telling the story itself changes a little, changes direction, and that in turn changes you and me. So be very careful not only in how you repeat it but in how you remember it, goslings. More often than you realize it, the world is shaped by two things
stories told and the memories they leave behind. ~ Vera Nazarian
Story Telling quotes by Vera Nazarian
Dear Halford, When we were together last, you gave me a very particular and interesting account of the most remarkable occurrences of your early life, previous to our acquaintance; and then you requested a return of confidence from me. Not being in a story-telling humour at the time, I declined, under the plea of having nothing to tell, and the like shuffling excuses, which were regarded as wholly inadmissible by you; for though you instantly turned the conversation, it was with the air of an uncomplaining, but deeply injured man, and your face was overshadowed with a cloud which darkened it to the end of our interview, and, for what I known, darkens it still; for your letters have, ever since, been distinguished by a certain dignified, semi-melancholy stiffness and reserve, that would have been very affecting, if my conscience had accused me of deserving it. ~ Anne Bronte
Story Telling quotes by Anne Bronte
Someone once told me people write down stories because they would like to forget, and those who read are those who would like to remember. Maybe I'm not ready to forget, and maybe you're not ready to remember. This is what I recall; I'm sorry if it is a little spotty. I suppose it is what I have the strength to forget… ~ John Zelazny
Story Telling quotes by John Zelazny
Before Luce could reply, a skinny, dark haired girl appeared in from of her, wagging her long fingers in Luce's face.
"Ooooooh," the girl taunted in a ghost-story-telling voice, dancing around Luce in a circle. "The reds are watching youuuu."
"Get out of here, Arriane, before I have you lobotimized," the attendant said, though it was clear from her first brief but genuine smile that she had some coarse affection for that crazy girl.
It was also clear that Arriane did not reciprocate the love. She mimed a jerking-off motion at the attendant, then stared at Luce, daring her to be offended. ~ Lauren Kate
Story Telling quotes by Lauren Kate
Animation offers a medium of story telling and visual entertainment which can bring pleasure and information to people of all ages everywhere in the world. ~ Walt Disney
Story Telling quotes by Walt Disney
Story-telling is subject to two unavoidable defects,
frequent repetition and being soon exhausted; so that, whoever values this gift in himself, has need of a good memory, and ought frequently to shift his company. ~ Jonathan Swift
Story Telling quotes by Jonathan Swift
Humans are pattern-seeking story-telling animals, and we are quite adept at telling stories about patterns, whether they exist or not. ~ Michael Shermer
Story Telling quotes by Michael Shermer
Story telling is joke telling. ~ Andrew Stanton
Story Telling quotes by Andrew Stanton
Humans are a story telling species. Throughout history we have told stories to each other and ourselves as one of the ways to understand the world around us. Every culture has its creation myth for how the universe came to be, but the stories do not stop at the big picture view; other stories discuss every aspect of the world around us. We humans are chatterboxes and we just can't resist telling a story about just about everything.

However compelling and entertaining these stories may be, they fall short of being explanations because in the end all they are is stories. For every story you can tell a different variation, or a different ending, without giving reason to choose between them. If you are skeptical or try to test the veracity of these stories you'll typically find most such stories wanting. One approach to this is forbid skeptical inquiry, branding it as heresy. This meme is so compelling that it was independently developed by cultures around the globes; it is the origin of religion - a set of stories about the world that must be accepted on faith, and never questioned. ~ Nathan Myhrvold
Story Telling quotes by Nathan Myhrvold
You are never too old to become younger! ~ Mae West
Story Telling quotes by Mae West
Personally I like the slow burn; I don't think there is anything wrong with it. When I think about the movies that were most effective on me as a viewer I think of the original Haunting and the Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, the Sixth Sense, the Others. These movies are not over the top at all, they are movies that rely on good story telling, good acting, good premise, good exposition and I want to stay true to that in future projects. ~ Oren Peli
Story Telling quotes by Oren Peli
