(this book is for those who know this to be true) ~ Jen Campbell
Story Keepers Video quotes by Jen Campbell
We've always used stories as a way to pass on our history, as a way to explain things in life that we don't understand. We use them to make us feel connected to everything around us, and to help us escape to another time or place.
Bookshops across the world are full of these stories.
From travelling booksellers and undercover bookshops, to pop-up stalls and community hubs, walking into a good bookshop is like walking into another zone. These places are time machines, spaceships, story-makers, secret-keepers. They are dragon-tamers, dream-catchers, fact-finders and safe places. They are full of infinite possibilities, and tales worth taking home.
Because whether we're in the middle of the desert or in the heart of a city, on the top of a mountain or on an underground train: having good stories to keep us company can mean the whole world. ~ Jen Campbell
Story Keepers Video quotes by Jen Campbell
I love 'Memory Keeper's Daughter,' but in some ways I think 'The Lake of Dreams' is a stronger book. I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell. That's all you can ever do as a writer. From there on you have no control over it. ~ Kim Edwards
Story Keepers Video quotes by Kim Edwards
I am going to add a cold beer. Why not a bottle of whiskey? Because my story is cheap and cannot afford such props. Goddamn, even my imagination is not wealthy enough to order a bottle of Jack! ~ Plamen Chetelyazov
Story Keepers Video quotes by Plamen Chetelyazov
I don't think there is another person in America that wants to tell this story as much as I do. ~ Oliver North
Story Keepers Video quotes by Oliver North
But like all beautiful faces Emily's made you believe that its possessor was a better person than she was. It allowed her to pass for stoical when she was petrified, and mysterious and aloof when she was so filled with self-doubt that she bought presents for other people when it was her birthday, framed most of her conversation in terms of apology and regret, and for all her talent could no longer manage to string twenty-five paragraphs fo prose together to make a short story. ~ Michael Chabon
Story Keepers Video quotes by Michael Chabon
A data scientist is that unique blend of skills that can both unlock the insights of data and tell a fantastic story via the data. ~ DJ Patil
Story Keepers Video quotes by DJ Patil
Pour your heart onto the page. ~ A.D. Posey
Story Keepers Video quotes by A.D. Posey
Before the Law stands a doorkeeper on guard. To this doorkeeper there comes a man from the country who begs for admittance to the Law. But the doorkeeper says that he cannot admit the man at the moment. The man, on reflection, asks if he will be allowed, then, to enter later. 'It is possible,' answers the doorkeeper, 'but not at this moment.' Since the door leading into the Law stands open as usual and the doorkeeper steps to one side, the man bends down to peer through the entrance. When the doorkeeper sees that, he laughs and says: 'If you are so strongly tempted, try to get in without my permission. But note that I am powerful. And I am only the lowest doorkeeper. From hall to hall keepers stand at every door, one more powerful than the other. Even the third of these has an aspect that even I cannot bear to look at.' These are difficulties which the man from the country has not expected to meet, the Law, he thinks, should be accessible to every man and at all times, but when he looks more closely at the doorkeeper in his furred robe, with his huge pointed nose and long, thin, Tartar beard, he decides that he had better wait until he gets permission to enter. The doorkeeper gives him a stool and lets him sit down at the side of the door. There he sits waiting for days and years. He makes many attempts to be allowed in and wearies the doorkeeper with his importunity. The doorkeeper often engages him in brief conversation, asking him about his home and about other matters, bu ~ Franz Kafka
Story Keepers Video quotes by Franz Kafka
The most-asked question when someone describes a novel, movie or short story to a friend probably is, 'How does it end?' Endings carry tremendous weight with readers; if they don't like the ending, chances are they'll say they didn't like the work. Failed endings are also the most common problems editors have with submitted works. ~ Nancy Kress
Story Keepers Video quotes by Nancy Kress
A great swindle of our time is the assumption that science has made religion obsolete. All science has damaged is the story of Adam and Eve and the story of Jonah and the Whale. Everything else holds up pretty well, particularly lessons about fairness and gentleness. People who find those lessons irrelevant in the twentieth century are simply using science as an excuse for greed and harshness. Science has nothing to do with it, friends. ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Story Keepers Video quotes by Kurt Vonnegut
This used to be a mean monster until he got sick one winter with the flu & stayed in bed & watched too much Little House on the Prairie & now the littlest thing & he starts to cry. ~ Brian Andreas
Story Keepers Video quotes by Brian Andreas
I have a nice little idea from some people I met there who are now in their seventies, and I want to tell their story about the revolution through the eyes of musicians, in fact. The '59 Revolution. And what has happened to them since. It's very much a Cuban story. They haven't fared too well. ~ John Gimlette
Story Keepers Video quotes by John Gimlette
I don't want to make a big deal about this or anything, but I think it's kind of cool how you do everything you do."
I squinted at him.
"I mean, you use sign language, and it's hard to communicate. But you're into art and you can seriously cook and, for goodness' sakes, you can even jitterbug. By the way, I told my mom, and she wants a video. Totally doesn't believe me. But, yeah, I think it's nice that you don't let a little hitch in life slow you down. I admire that."
I smiled. For a minute, I admired myself, too. He didn't know how deep my problems ran, but he was right all the same. It was no small thing to try, to find out what you cared about in life. Even this moment, with this wonderful, temporary boy beside me, was a tiny miracle. I ought to give myself some credit. ~ Kiera Cass
Story Keepers Video quotes by Kiera Cass
I think the reason the stories are briskly paced, when they are, is that I like story. I like stories where things happen and there are surprises and reversals, in addition to vivid characters and a memorable voice. So those are the kinds of stories I try to write. And it turns out that's pretty much the only kind of writing that works for TV. It's a medium that just devours story, demands surprises and reversals. So my sensibility is suited to TV storytelling, at least as we think of it today. ~ Nick Antosca
Story Keepers Video quotes by Nick Antosca
I started seeing poetry from a strictly consumerist perspective as poets serving up beverages. Most, maybe like 97 percent or something, serve lemonade. You can consume their work and it will teach you nothing, and it will leave a sticky unpleasant feeling in your mouth and a slight nausea in your stomach. There are all kinds of home-made lemonades, milky lemonade, watery lemonade, some throw pepper in it or even puke in the lemonade, but its still lemonade, just a puky sort.

Then there are a few that offer stronger drinks. Some say the secret is the cellar, but I think that's just a propaganda story. If you leave a bottle of lemonade in the cellar for 10 years it won't turn into wine. But some of these fools are doing exactly that. Stinky old lemonade full of dust. And then there's those that think the problem is the Lemonade isn't smooth enough and they start filtering it with a sieve, imagining to be gold-diggers or something. No no no, the secret isn't cellars. The secret is rather a sincere hate for lemonade. As long as you don't hate lemonade with every pore in your body, as long as a part of you accepts the lemonade, then forget about the cellars. But if your soul says 'Fuck the Lemonade' then it starts to search.

You will find that a small percentage of poetry offered is like a strong beverage. Most then, again, are like cheap beer or wine. To find a wine that's actually good or even a decent whiskey you have to sift to tuns of poems, and then yo ~ Martijn Benders
Story Keepers Video quotes by Martijn Benders
The story is always better than your ability to write it. ~ Robin McKinley
Story Keepers Video quotes by Robin McKinley
That the story of Atlantis - much beloved by psychics, UFO spotters, and conspiracy theorists - should have sprung from one of history's greatest minds struck me, to put it lightly, as a little odd. It was like hearing that ~ Mark Adams
Story Keepers Video quotes by Mark Adams
There is a holy story that tells of a man who was fulfilled by sowing his enemy's field one night. Bjartur's story is the story of a man who sowed his enemy's field all his life, day and night. Such is the story of the most independent man in the country. Moors; more moors. From the ravine there came an eerie echoing rumble as the headstone crashed its way down, and the bitch sprang to the brink, barking wildly. ~ Halldor Laxness
Story Keepers Video quotes by Halldor Laxness
Really study what types of formats have been working online that you resonate with: get a feel for what works in the current ecosystem of online video. Sometimes, that passion-project you really want to do is not the way to start. ~ Benny Fine
Story Keepers Video quotes by Benny Fine
The real object of the First Amendment was not to countenance, much less advance Mohammedanism, or Judaism or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but ... to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government. ~ Joseph Story
Story Keepers Video quotes by Joseph Story
When I was eight years old, I played a story game with my younger brother and sister to help them fall asleep. The 'word-story game' was where they would choose a word and I would create a story. Acting and directing are similar to this game, where I am given the words then I fill in the life of the characters. ~ Carson Grant
Story Keepers Video quotes by Carson Grant
The world had a pleasant beginning
Until Adam spoiled it by sinning;
We hope that the story
Will end in God's glory,
But so far the other side's winning. ~ Joseph Twadell Shipley
Story Keepers Video quotes by Joseph Twadell Shipley
It is an ancient need to be told stories. But the story needs a great storyteller. Thanks for all of it, Jo. ~ Alan Rickman
Story Keepers Video quotes by Alan Rickman
You can go back and try to generalize, but then you end up saying things that all editors say about everything that ever gets published. Something about voice, about urgency, about actually having a story to tell. ~ Lorin Stein
Story Keepers Video quotes by Lorin Stein
A good story is one liked. A great story is one that challenges thought, defiant and gets mouths talking. ~ Veronica Purcell
Story Keepers Video quotes by Veronica Purcell
I read the story and reread the story, but I still could not find the universality that the little Irishman had spoken of. All I saw in the story was some Irishmen meeting in a room and talking politics. What had that to do with America, especially with my people? It was not until years later that I saw what he meant ... I began to listen, to listen closely to how they talked about their heroes, to how they talked about the dead and how great the dead had once been. I heard it everywhere. ~ Ulysses S. Grant
Story Keepers Video quotes by Ulysses S. Grant
Readers want to know a few things right up front, like what the weather is like and the lay of the land, the color of that lake, or the steep pitch of that steeple. Now whether or not these things have one iota to do with your story doesn't concern the reader. ~ Ron Rozelle
Story Keepers Video quotes by Ron Rozelle
A book is a story for the mind. A song is a story for the soul. ~ Eric Pio
Story Keepers Video quotes by Eric Pio
It's always about the human condition. Go back to that and you'll find your story. ~ Michael Piller
Story Keepers Video quotes by Michael Piller
One resourceful mom took her son's fixation on the video game Minecraft and made real wood "Minecraft" blocks for her son and the neighborhood kids to play with. This provided a connection between building things in the virtual world and building structures in the real world. ~ Rich Weinfeld
Story Keepers Video quotes by Rich Weinfeld
I was realizing, for the first time, that everything goes on, turns gray, is ruined in the living. That there is no end to our story until death comes and the body decays ... ~ Carmen Laforet
Story Keepers Video quotes by Carmen Laforet
It's a long story, but one you've never heard before. This story is about a place that dwells on the mountain; a place where bad things happen. And you may think you know about the bad things, you may decide you have it all figured out but you don't. Because the truth is worse than monsters or men. ~ C.K. Walker
Story Keepers Video quotes by C.K. Walker
I notice that when I feel the most disconnected, once I'm done blaming the moon and everything else, I can see that I am so mired in identification with form and ego and story and identity, and that if I want to, I can read some scripture or read some spiritual book or pray or meditate or sit in the sun or hang around the birds and the dogs, and get a real objective sense of what's really going on here. That usually softens things. ~ Alanis Morissette
Story Keepers Video quotes by Alanis Morissette
Life would be a lot easier if conversations were rewindable and erasable, like videos. Or if you could instruct people to disregard what you just said, like in a courtroom. ~ Sophie Kinsella
Story Keepers Video quotes by Sophie Kinsella
He drank, for the same reason he wrote second-rate science fiction. Not to forget but to remember, to open the past and find himself there again. He opened each bottle, began each story with the secret conviction that here was the magic drought that would restore him. But magic, like wine, needs the right conditions in order to work. ~ Joanne Harris
Story Keepers Video quotes by Joanne Harris
You make me want to do things I've never done before. Never wanted to do before,' she whispered. ~ C.C. MacKenzie
Story Keepers Video quotes by C.C. MacKenzie
We need creative license with the fictional narratives that become our memories. Anthologized, these are the tales that become the story of your life. ~ Danielle Ganek
Story Keepers Video quotes by Danielle Ganek
The only reason ever to make a sequel is to spend more time with the characters that people love: to tell more of their story. ~ Elizabeth Banks
Story Keepers Video quotes by Elizabeth Banks
Many a good newspaper story has been ruined by over verification. ~ James Gordon Bennett
Story Keepers Video quotes by James Gordon Bennett
Most cowgirls are natural storytellers, their art honed by years of practice ... It serves as entertainment; it also preserves the humor and value of a unique way of life. ~ Teresa Jordan
Story Keepers Video quotes by Teresa Jordan
Just that maybe ... maybe you don't want to change the story, because you don't know what a different ending holds. ~ Ann Voskamp
