When daisies pied and violets blue And lady-smocks all silver-white And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue Do paint the meadows with delight, The cuckoo then, on every tree, Mocks married men; for thus sings he, Cuckoo; Cuckoo, cuckoo; O, word of fear, Unpleasing to a married ear. ~ William Shakespeare
Sternberger Paint quotes by William Shakespeare
Some people paint for stress relief. Others beat the crap out of punching bags (which, I might add, is very therapeutic). ~ Christina Farley
Sternberger Paint quotes by Christina Farley
You are not an artist simply because you paint or sculpt or make pots that cannot be used. An artist is a poet in his or her own medium. And when an artist produces a good piece, that work has mystery, an unsaid quality; it is alive. ~ Toshiko Takaezu
Sternberger Paint quotes by Toshiko Takaezu
We often fear that the Revolution needed is too big for what we can give.
Too much change is required inside, outside.
And we are too small.
But all that is required is that you step into the truth of your life.
And speak it, write it, paint it, dance it.
That you shine your light on your truth, for the world to see.
And as hundreds, then thousands, then millions do this – each sparking the courage of yet more –
Suddenly we have a world alight with truth. ~ Lucy H. Pearce
Sternberger Paint quotes by Lucy H. Pearce
They paint me as a villain, I just autograph the artwork. ~ Lil' Wayne
Sternberger Paint quotes by Lil' Wayne
Well, I am not interested in the kind of expression that you have when you paint a painting with brush strokes. It's all right, but it's already done and I want to do something new. ~ Donald Judd
Sternberger Paint quotes by Donald Judd
I like to work in watercolor, with as little under-drawing as I can get away with. I like the unpredictability of a medium which is affected as much by humidity, gravity, the way that heavier particles in the wash settle into the undulations of the paper surface, as by whatever I wish to do with it. In other mediums you have more control, you are responsible for every mark on the page - but with watercolor you are in a dialogue with the paint, it responds to you and you respond to it in turn. Printmaking is also like this, it has an unpredictable element. This encourages an intuitive response, a spontaneity which allows magic to happen on the page. When I begin an illustration, I usually work up from small sketches - which indicate in a simple way something of the atmosphere or dynamics of an illustration; then I do drawings on a larger scale supported by studies from models - usually friends - if figures play a large part in the picture. When I've reached a stage where the drawing looks good enough I'll transfer it to watercolor paper, but I like to leave as much unresolved as possible before starting to put on washes. This allows for an interaction with the medium itself, a dialogue between me and the paint. Otherwise it is too much like painting by number, or a one-sided conversation. ~ Alan Lee (artist)
Sternberger Paint quotes by Alan Lee (artist)
Creation rather than painting, or if painting, yet such, and with such co-presence of the whole picture flash'd at once upon the eye, as the sun paints in a camera obscura. (Describing his poetic ideal, 1817) ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Sternberger Paint quotes by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
…be awake to the Life
that is loving you and
sing your prayer, laugh your prayer,
dance your prayer, run
and weep and sweat your prayer,
sleep your prayer, eat your prayer,
paint, sculpt, hammer, and read your prayer,
sweep, dig, rake, drive and hoe your prayer,
garden and farm and build and clean your prayer,
wash, iron, vacuum, sew, embroider and pickle your prayer,
compute, touch, bend and fold but never delete
or mutilate your prayer.

Learn and play your prayer,
work and rest your prayer,
fast and feast your prayer,
argue, talk, whisper, listen and shout your prayer,
groan and moan and spit and sneeze your prayer,
swim and hunt and cook your prayer,
digest and become your prayer,
release and recover your prayer,
breathe your prayer,
be your prayer ~ Alla Renée Bozarth
Sternberger Paint quotes by Alla Renée Bozarth
They want time to move fast so they can paint their nails a provocative red and wear high heels that crack walnuts and make people jump. He wants time to slow down so he can prolong the enjoyment of walking among them, of being next to this self-contained beauty. ~ Mahmoud Darwish
Sternberger Paint quotes by Mahmoud Darwish
The former secretary of State is the nominee. She is also the Willie Sutton of classified data. And there is going to be a long-term effort of Republicans, whether it's Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, or Ted Cruz, to paint her into the corner. ~ Hugh Hewitt
Sternberger Paint quotes by Hugh Hewitt
After being taught sets and reps and working at it for a length of time you can't paint by numbers anymore. It must come from within. Any artist has an emotional contact with their work. A true bodybuilder doesn't just build muscle he creates muscle. You can't be a robot. ~ Tom Platz
Sternberger Paint quotes by Tom Platz
Public officials insult our intelligence and our goodwill when they paint rosy pictures about budgets, jobs, bipartisanship, and transparency, and alter their positions on issues simply to keep collecting their paycheck by never disagreeing or disappointing anyone. ~ Wendy E. Long
Sternberger Paint quotes by Wendy E. Long
To paint from nature is to realize one's sensations, not to copy what is before one. ~ J. E. H. MacDonald
Sternberger Paint quotes by J. E. H. MacDonald
Graffiti is a lot easier than the canvas actually, because it's such a large format, so when you're going to such a thin detail, it's not that thin in the realm of things because it's such a big wall. This would take a small paint brush of detail, but on a huge wall, if that's the size of a building, the thinnest detail is still that big, it's a quick spray. Spray paint is easiest for me. I love spray paint. ~ Alec Monopoly
Sternberger Paint quotes by Alec Monopoly
When we paint the picture of our salvation for others to see, we may use different colors, textures, and shapes on the edges of the parchment. But in the center can only be a cross. Anything else cheapens grace and cheats the believer. ~ Beth Moore
Sternberger Paint quotes by Beth Moore
She was so beautiful that it made my soul ache. I always wished desperately that I could paint her in these moments and immortalize that look in her eyes. There was a softness in them that I rarely saw at other times, a total and complete vulnerability in someone who was normally so guarded and analytical in the rest of her life. But although I was a decent painter, capturing her on canvas was beyond my skill. ~ Richelle Mead
Sternberger Paint quotes by Richelle Mead
Draw places you have seen from memory. I used to paint things I had glimpsed through windows while riding in the elevated train. ~ John French Sloan
Sternberger Paint quotes by John French Sloan
Death will paint everything a different shade of remorse.

You'll feel guilty that you're still breathing.
But you can't stop.
You'll feel guilty for wanting to laugh again.
And it will be awful the first time that you do.
You'll feel guilty for just about everything at first.
And someday, at some point, you'll start to feel guilty . . .
for forgetting to feel guilty.

But of all Heaven's lessons, guilt isn't one of them. You don't need to hold on to it. It doesn't need to be a practice and it shouldn't be your life.

Heaven would never approve of your guilt.
Because Heaven has no regrets. ~ Tessa Shaffer
Sternberger Paint quotes by Tessa Shaffer
What about you? What do you do?" I needed to ask questions, draw him out. I needed to find out all the information I could. My voice sounded strong and smooth, but my hands were shaking. I put them in my lap so he couldn't see.
"I prey on innocent villagers and terrify their children," he said with a nasty smile. "And sometimes when I'm feeling really evil, I read books or paint. ~ Kate Avery Ellison
Sternberger Paint quotes by Kate Avery Ellison
It's critical that we use a very dark brush to paint evil. When you bring the light into that darkness as characterized in John 1, that light is very vivid. When it dispels the darkness, we see the brilliance that's there. ~ Ted Dekker
Sternberger Paint quotes by Ted Dekker
Gavin stood within the trees, observing her from the shadows. He watched the basket rise to her nose as she closed her eyes to sniff at its contents. A smile told him it smelled delicious, but she didn't open the container to pinch off a sample. Instead, the basket lowered to swing at her side as it had previously done.

All at once the air was filled with soft singing--a sweet, merry tune comprised of ludicrous lyrics. It was impossible not to grin at the words.

"Rainbows paint the sky 'til the sun melts their colors.
Swinging in the wind, whiskered cattails purr.
The pigs gallop by and snort at the moon,
While frogs kiss the lizards and princesses too." ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Sternberger Paint quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
We drove under a giant gray wing and headed out over open blacktop straight for a small white airplane standing alone. A corporate thing. A business jet. A Lear, or a Gulfstream, or whatever rich people buy these days. The paint winked in the sun. There was no writing on it, apart from a tail number. No name, no logo. Just white paint. Its engines were turning slowly, and its stairs were down. ~ Lee Child
Sternberger Paint quotes by Lee Child
What is a portrait good for, unless it shows just how the subject was seen by the painter? In the old days before photography came in a sitter had a perfect right to say to the artist: "Paint me just as I am." Now if he wishes absolute fidelity he can go to the photographer and get it. ~ Aubrey Beardsley
Sternberger Paint quotes by Aubrey Beardsley
When we reach a certain age we have opportunity to decide how we present ourselves to the world, and that age is getting ever younger. Even our young teenage generation is aware of fashion and we grow acutely more and more aware of how obsessed our society is with imagery and appearance. Or rather we become more aware that to get on in life we need to be brash and bright and sparkling all the time. That bright colours and big noises is what gets your through life, that any substance behind that is almost irrelevant to success. We only need look at who we proclaim as celebrities, who society rewards with wealth, that substance is not a prerequisite to success.

Be bright, make a statement, choose a bold look, dye your hair, pierce your body, paint it with permanent ink, wear outlandish clothes and don't be afraid to say something crude or mean or controversial because that's the person you are.

Or is it?

Is it that when you've done with the all the additions to your body, the person you look at in the mirror is no longer the real you. It is a character, the one you think society wants you to be, that society has convinced you that you want to be, substance optional. One of the most beautiful moments of conversation on and offline I've had with some people is when they surprise me, a comment or opinion with substance and thought, something away fro their character, revealing the real indivi ~ Raven Lockwood
Sternberger Paint quotes by Raven Lockwood
The irony is that the more we fight age, the more it shows. Paint on a 50-year-old face brings to mind a Gilbert and Sullivan comic figure. Smooth the cheeks, and suddenly the ear lobes and hands look out of place. Do we run around in October, painting the gold leaves green? ~ Karen DeCrow
Sternberger Paint quotes by Karen DeCrow
How hard it is to make your thoughts look anything but imbecile fools when you paint them with ink on paper. ~ Olive Schreiner
Sternberger Paint quotes by Olive Schreiner
I paint to make up the gaps that language just can't fill. ~ Efrat Cybulkiewicz
Sternberger Paint quotes by Efrat Cybulkiewicz
I've never claimed that this is investment art. When we first started out, all the art colleges and universities across the country would sort of badmouth what we were doing. It's funny that a lot of them now are sending us letters saying, 'We may not totally agree with the way you paint, but we appreciate what you're doing, because you're sending literally thousands of people into art colleges. ~ Bob Ross
Sternberger Paint quotes by Bob Ross
As falsehood peels like paint, eternal truth is uncovered. ~ T.F. Hodge
Sternberger Paint quotes by T.F. Hodge
Once a person has been poisoned by self-deception, he can't make decisions about himself as neatly as all that," Himiko said, elaborating her friend's terrific prophecy; " You won't get a divorce Bird. You'll justify yourself like crazy, and try to salvage your married life by confusing the real issues. A decision like divorce is beyond you now, Bird, the poison has gone to work. And you know how the story ends ? Not even your own wife will trust you absolutely, and one day you'll discover for yourself that your entire private life is in the shadow of deception and in the end you'll destroy yourself. Bird, the first signs of self-destruction have appeared already!"
" But that's a blind alley! Leave it to you to paint the most hopeless future you can think of. " Bird lunged at jocularity ... ~ Kenzaburo Oe
Sternberger Paint quotes by Kenzaburo Oe
Artists have to learn how to paint what's in the mirror, even if what they see is a total shit show. ~ Shaun David Hutchinson
Sternberger Paint quotes by Shaun David Hutchinson
You can paint a dead herring purple, and you can hang it on the wall, but hard as you try, you can't make it sing. ~ Raphael Bob-Waksberg
Sternberger Paint quotes by Raphael Bob-Waksberg
But Valentine, why despair, why always paint the future in such sombre hues?" Maximilien asked.
"Because, my friend, I judge it by the past. ~ Alexandre Dumas
Sternberger Paint quotes by Alexandre Dumas
Being covered in white paint ,you demonstrate behaviour intended to create a public nuisance, which did in fact cause offence to members of the public ,and created a breach of the peace and public order. ~ Gunter Brus
Sternberger Paint quotes by Gunter Brus
How do you paint a writer's block?
Just fill it with fifty shades of black. ~ Ana Claudia Antunes
Sternberger Paint quotes by Ana Claudia Antunes
I tried to be a house painter, but I couldn't stand all that paint all over me. ~ George Jones
Sternberger Paint quotes by George Jones
Don't go overboard with exotic or complex ways to paint. Stick to simple solutions, unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. ~ Richard Schmid
Sternberger Paint quotes by Richard Schmid
He muttered to himself. Why bother. Why does this matter so much. What difference does it make to anything if I solve this blue and just start again. I could just sit down and drink wine. I could go and be useful in a cholera-camp in Columbia or Ethiopia. Why bother to render the transparency in solid paint or air on a bit of board? I could just stop. He could not. ~ A.S. Byatt
Sternberger Paint quotes by A.S. Byatt
Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child? ~ Steven Tyler
Sternberger Paint quotes by Steven Tyler
You're the last line of defense. When you're dead, Hitler will march through Leningrad the way he marched through Paris. Do you remember that?'
'That's not fair. The French didn't fight,' Tatiana said, wanting to be anywhere right now but standing in front of men loading artwork from the Hermitage onto armored trucks.
'They didn't fight, Tania, but you will fight. For every street and for every building. And when you lose
'
'The art will be saved.'
'Yes! The art will be saved,' Alexander said emotionally. 'And another artist will paint a glorious picture, immortalizing you, with a club in your raised hand, swinging to hit the German tank as it's about to crush you, all against the backdrop of the statue of Peter the Great atop his bronze horse. And that picture will hang in the Hermitage, and at the start of the next war the curator will once again stand on the street, crying over his vanishing crates. ~ Paullina Simons
Sternberger Paint quotes by Paullina Simons
Poor children live in a particularly dangerous world
an urban world of broken stair railings, of busy streets serving as playgrounds, of lead paint, rats and rat poisons, or a rural world where families do not enjoy the minimal levels of public health accepted as standard for nearly a century. Whether in city or country, this is a world where cavities go unfilled and ear infections threatening permanent deafness go untreated. It is world where even a small child learns to be ashamed of the way he or she lives. ~ Kenneth Keniston
Sternberger Paint quotes by Kenneth Keniston
I never want to paint anything just to make a pretty picture. The only reason I do this is because it's an outlet, it's emotional. ~ Jason Shawn Alexander
Sternberger Paint quotes by Jason Shawn Alexander
He invented the Fuse Box Dwarf, a little man who popped out at you from behind the paint cans in the cellarway and screamed, "Dreeb! Dreeb! I am the Fuse Box Dwarf!" Lewis was not scared by the little man, and he felt that those who scream "Dreeb" are more to be pitied than censured. ~ John Bellairs
Sternberger Paint quotes by John Bellairs
What's in a color?
Why, love of course! ~ Anthony T. Hincks
