My parents were marvelously educated people. ~ Stephen Fry
Stephen quotes by Stephen Fry
All of this was well meaning bullshit. But bullshit is still bullshit and will never be mistaken for McDonald's secret sauce. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Imagine yourself being happy, unburdened, and filled with joy. That is how God wants you to be. 'Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about.' (1 Peter 5:7 NLT). ~ Stephen Arterburn
Stephen quotes by Stephen Arterburn
Goethe died in 1832. As you know, Goethe was very active in science. In fact, he did some very good scientific work in plant morphology and mineralogy. But he was quite bitter at the way in which many scientists refused to grant him a hearing because he was a poet and therefore, they felt, he couldn't be serious. ~ Stephen Jay Gould
Stephen quotes by Stephen Jay Gould
I started to book good television jobs in 2010. I started to get really close to exceptional jobs in 2011, and then I got 'Arrow' in 2012. I know how lucky I am because just getting the lead in a pilot doesn't guarantee that that pilot is going to turn into something great. ~ Stephen Amell
Stephen quotes by Stephen Amell
It now appears that the way the universe began can indeed be determined, using imaginary time. ~ Stephen Hawking
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hawking
A hero, in his mind, was not someone who suffered disaster after disaster, heroically pulling through with great endurance, but rather one who focused his intelligence and skills to avoid disaster, thus succeeding by good planning and crafty decision making. ~ Stephen R. Bown
Stephen quotes by Stephen R. Bown
I realized that it happened every Saturday when we would watch television. ~ Stephen Chbosky
Stephen quotes by Stephen Chbosky
The only service you can do for anyone is to remind them of their true nature. ~ Stephen Levine
Stephen quotes by Stephen Levine
Do you believe in first love - or should I pass by again? ~ Stephen Hawking
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hawking
I'd say that what I do is like a crack in the mirror. If you go back over the books from Carrie on up, what you see is an observation of ordinary middle-class American life as it's lived at the time that particular book was written. In every life you get to a point where you have to deal with something that's inexplicable to you, whether it's the doctor saying you have cancer or a prank phone call. So whether you talk about ghosts or vampires or Nazi war criminals living down the block, we're still talking about the same thing, which is an intrusion of the extraordinary into ordinary life and how we deal with it. What that shows about our character and our interactions with others and the society we live in interests me a lot more than monsters and vampires and ghouls and ghosts. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Age looked at youth, and youth's applause first weakened, then died. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
John's eyes turned to me ... I saw no resignation in them, no hope of heaven, no drawing peace. How I would love to tell you that I did. How I would love to tell myself that.
What I saw was misery ... fear, incompletion and incomprehension. They were the eyes of a trapped and terrified animal.
(The Green Mile/Paul Edgecomb character) ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
As a singer, you can't hear what's coming out of your throat; you're only hearing it from the inside, so you need a trusted person who knows how your voice works. It's like a car. You take it to the same mechanic because they know it inside out, and every time you get it back, it works fantastic. ~ Stephen Costello
Stephen quotes by Stephen Costello
The word "universe" means "one tune" or "one rhythm", and when we are in tune or in rhythm with it, it cannot help but respond. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
Even now, over a half-century later, the engraved words stirred emotions in him he would rather not confront. ~ Stephen Lloyd Jones
Stephen quotes by Stephen Lloyd Jones
New York always brings out the serial killer in me. It's a great city to kill in. The best. You've got something like fifteen million people living cheek by jowl, and most of them couldn't give a damn about anyone else. No one wants to get involved. No one cares. ~ Stephen Leather
Stephen quotes by Stephen Leather
There was an abyss. And books contained magical incantations to raise what was hidden there, all the great mysteries. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
I could tell you that dying's an art / and I am learning fast. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Create a mould, and pour yourself in it. See what you want to be, and be. Don't fear the pain. Pain is good. Pain is price. ~ Stephen Lloyd Jones
Stephen quotes by Stephen Lloyd Jones
I believe in most men there is a certain amount of violence. Every man has a bit of fight in him, but some of them have to look deeper within themselves, further than most. The fight is there if you search for it; people don't think they've got it at all, but they have got it, like the weakest fucking crony you could see on earth. If someone broke in to the house, I believe he'd fucking have a go rather than somebody hurt his wife and kids; it would press him to his limits. If he's not going to defend his pitch, he's not worth a cup of cold fucking water. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
Whatever thought grips the mind at the time of death is the one which will propel it and decide for it the nature of its future birth. Thus if one wants to attain god after death, one has to think of him steadfastly ... This is not as simple as it sounds, for at the time of death the mind automatically flies to the thought of an object (i.e. money, love) which has possessed it during its sojourn in the world. Thus one must think of god constantly. ~ Stephen Mitchell
Stephen quotes by Stephen Mitchell
A broken spoon may be a fork in disguise. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Let's make just a few more steps and secure success forever. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
The message of this lecture is that black holes ain't as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once though…things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don't give up – there's a way out. ~ Stephen Hawking
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hawking
Well, Jack, we have taken the Macedonian, and your share of the prize, if we get her in safely, may be two hundred dollars; what will you do with it?" Stephen Decatur, commanding the frigate United States, North Atlantic, near the Azores Islands, 1812.

"One hundred will go to my mother, sir, and the other I shall spend on schooling." Jack Creamer, aged ten. ~ Irvin Anthony
Stephen quotes by Irvin Anthony
We must look at the lens through we see the world, as well as the world we see, and that the lens itself shapes how we interpret the world. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Stephen quotes by Stephen R. Covey
Larry woke up with a hangover that was not too bad, a mouth that tasted as if a baby dragon had used it for a potty chair ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
When you forgive, you immerse yourself in healing waters. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
I've lived my entire life in New York, and it informs everything. ~ Stephen Adly Guirgis
Stephen quotes by Stephen Adly Guirgis
Everything that informs us of something useful that we didn't already know is a potential signal. If it matters and deserves a response, its potential is actualized. ~ Stephen Few
Stephen quotes by Stephen Few
Unless you are Stephen King, a book signing is attended by maybe 40 or 50 people. ~ Dana Stabenow
Stephen quotes by Dana Stabenow
But borrowing strength builds weakness. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Stephen quotes by Stephen R. Covey
The Bush administration tells us that the Iraq was was central to the Global War on Terror. Its critics call the Iraq War a distraction. The disagreement is a fundamental one. The Bush administration advocates a policy of preemption that calls for targeting terrorists and the regimes that support them, with the goal of eliminating threats before they are imminent. Their opponents disagree. The central question, then, is this: Would it have been possible to wage a serious Global War on Terror leaving the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein in power? To answer it, we must consider what we knew before September 11 and what we knew before the Iraq War. ~ Stephen F. Hayes
Stephen quotes by Stephen F. Hayes
My obsession is with the macabre. I didn't write any of the stories which follow for money, although some of them were sold to magazines before they appeared here and I never once returned a cheque uncashed. I may be obsessional but I'm not crazy. Yet I repeat: I didn't write them for money; I wrote them because it occurred to me to write them. I have a marketable obsession. There are madmen and madwomen in padded cells the world over who are not so lucky. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
The scholarship on music and poetry in Mexico - and Latin America more generally - has yet to receive substantial historical attention. ~ Stephen Neufeld
Stephen quotes by Stephen Neufeld
And what is life but a little row in a small boat, every moment leaving what we know, every stroke unable to see where we are headed? ~ Stephen P. Kiernan
Stephen quotes by Stephen P. Kiernan
This quote is by my husband, Stephen Dando-Collins It is his advice for success:
1. MARRY LOUISE.
2. DO WHAT SHE TELLS YOU.
3. MAKE SURE THAT SHE IS HAPPY. ~ Louise Dando-Collins

Poison ivy, because who needed a case of that on your pecker). We're all here in Derry. No camp, no relatives, no vacations, no AWAY. All right here. Present and accounted for. There's ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
The mystery is what prompted men to leave caves, to come out of the womb of nature. ~ Stephen Gardiner
Stephen quotes by Stephen Gardiner
There's more to life than basketball. The most important thing is your family and taking care of each other and loving each other no matter what. ~ Stephen Curry
Stephen quotes by Stephen Curry
No, of course you don't think that is possible. You look at my face and you see a monster. You look at my hands and see them covered with the blood you ordered me to spill. But I tell you, Cap, it will happen. The girl has had no friend for going on two years. She has had her father and that is all. You see her as you see me, Cap. It is your great failing. You look, you see a monster. Only in the girl's case, you see a useful monster. Perhaps that is because you are a white man. White men see monsters everywhere. White men look at their own pricks and see monsters. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
To ignore the unexpected (even if it were possible) would be to live without opportunity, spontaneity, and the rich moments of which "life" is made. ~ Stephen Covey
Stephen quotes by Stephen Covey
Andrew Johnson was a Southerner generally who proclaimed that his native state of Tennessee was a country for white men. ~ Stephen Ambrose
Stephen quotes by Stephen Ambrose
I am speechless: what can I answer?
I put hand on my mouth.
I have said too much already;
now I will speak no more. ~ Stephen Mitchell
Stephen quotes by Stephen Mitchell
Unfortunately, most of today's women resemble bowerbirds that force
suitors to build elaborate nests of twigs, leaves, and discarded garbage before choosing a mate. Any male who doesn't meet her standards doesn't get to mate that year; one assumes he just stays in his bower, reads bower manuals, and watches bowerbird porn. ~ Stephen Colbert
Stephen quotes by Stephen Colbert
Those eyes filled him with the paralyzed, hopeless horror that the hen feels for the weasel. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
I hope you have a very nice life because I really think you deserve it. I really do ~ Stephen Chbosky

Stephen quotes by Stephen Sondheim

Stephen quotes by Stephen David McGoughan-Matthews
He had been a sailor and a sinner ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
What the Lord is saying here is: "It doesn't matter what you did. Whatever it was, no matter how horrible or vile, is not the issue. The issue here is that whatever your sin was or is I can erase it, I can clean you up and make you innocent, pure, and worthy, and I can do it today; I can do it now. ~ Stephen E. Robinson
Stephen quotes by Stephen E. Robinson
The brain is a muscle that can move the world. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
I've been worried about you, she says when they're settled in the kitchen. She has the bright, inquisitive gaze of a crow with its eye on a freshly squashed chipmunk. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
One reason to keep going is that the country was given to us as a sacred charge. It is, as Stephen Vincent Benet says in 'the Devil and Daniel Webster,' not the only place that created free man- but... Read More its a place that demands that we decide what to do with out freedom. You can only punish yourself, That's the existential view. I don't think there's any reward beyond participating, beyond being here. And the antithesis of reward is punishment, and the only punishment that can come is self-inflicted. I remain optimistic. Whether or not the optimism is justified, I don't know. I want to stay around for the third act. ~ Mort Sahl
Stephen quotes by Mort Sahl
Had to pee like a racehorse at an Iced Tea convention. ~ Stephen Colbert
Stephen quotes by Stephen Colbert
My mom kind of led me toward acting. She wanted to be an actress when she was younger. That made me interested in it when I was a kid, because she and I are very close. ~ Stephen Colbert
Stephen quotes by Stephen Colbert
I think that war is diplomacy. There have been wars that have been fought for righteous reasons and there are wars that have had to be fought. Indeed, there will continue to be. ~ Stephen Lang
Stephen quotes by Stephen Lang
if we can't worship the same God together inside the same church buildings, then we will still knock on your door and so irritate you thatyou cannot worship your white God in peace, that you cannot escape thinking about the problems of segregation even on Sunday morning, that we are just letting you know that every single aspect of your Southern Way of Life is under attack. ~ Stephen R. Haynes
Stephen quotes by Stephen R. Haynes
Was it pretty? Your country ... your land?" "It was beautiful," the gunslinger said. "There were fields and forests and rivers and mists in the morning. But that's only pretty. My mother used to say that the only real beauty is order and love and light. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
But every Sunday morning, in the clear blue sky before the church of St Stephen, the good Lord hovers above the town, invisible and merciful, righteous and terrible, ever present and everywhere the same, be it in Sárszeg or in Budapest, in Paris or New York. ~ Dezso Kosztolanyi
Stephen quotes by Dezso Kosztolanyi
Some poets marry a language; some have affairs with it; some treat it as a parent, some as a child, some as an equal, or as a friend. ~ Stephen Burt
Stephen quotes by Stephen Burt
TODD:
The history of the world, my love
LOVETT:
Save a lot of graves,
Do a lot of relatives favors!
TODD:
Is those below serving those up above!
LOVETT:
Ev'rybody shaves,
So there should be plenty of flavors!
TODD:
How gratifying for once to know
BOTH:
That those above will serve those down below! ~ Stephen Sondheim
Stephen quotes by Stephen Sondheim
During our glorious year of 1974–5, while I was dithering over gravitational waves, and Stephen was leading our merged group in black hole research, Stephen himself had an insight even more radical than his discovery of Hawking radiation. He gave a compelling, almost airtight proof that, when a black hole forms and then subsequently evaporates away completely by emitting radiation, the information that went into the black hole cannot come back out. Information is inevitably lost.
This is radical because the laws of quantum physics insist unequivocally that information can never get totally lost. So, if Stephen was right, black holes violate a most fundamental quantum mechanical law.
How could this be? The black hole's evaporation is governed by the combined laws of quantum mechanics and general relativity - the ill-understood laws of quantum gravity; and so, Stephen reasoned, the fiery marriage of relativity and quantum physics must lead to information destruction.
The great majority of theoretical physicists find this conclusion abhorrent. They are highly sceptical. And so, for forty-four years they have struggled with this so-called information-loss paradox. It is a struggle well worth the effort and anguish that have gone into it, since this paradox is a powerful key for understanding the quantum gravity laws. Stephen himself, in 2003, found a way that information might escape during the hole's evaporation, but that did not quell theorists' struggles. Stephe ~ Stephen Hawking
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hawking
The cause of these great extinctions, the most extensive in the seventy-million-year record for mammals, is a mystery. The two prevailing guesses, climatic environmental pressure or the destruction caused by human immigration in these regions, are at a stalemate. Nearly all regions of extinction were briefly inhabited by early humans, which is why some feel they played roles. I was not there at the time, so I can only speculate, but surely a global catastrophe of some sort triggered the cataclysm. ~ Stephen J. O'Brien
Stephen quotes by Stephen J. O'Brien
What if I can't find it? What if I can't find that particular pumping-station? The breath tore in and out of his lungs, hot and bloody-tasting in the back of his throat. A stitch was sinking into his side. His buttocks sang where the rock had hit him. Beverly had said Henry and his friends meant to kill them, and Ben believed it now, yes he did. He came to ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Stephen is my boyfriend," Doug said. "We're gay together."
"I'm also gay when we're apart," Stephen added. ~ Valerie Z. Lewis
Stephen quotes by Valerie Z. Lewis
I don't have time for this I've got to go pick a fight with a muscular stranger. ~ Stephen Hillenburg
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hillenburg
It's wetter than a taco fart down there and just as smelly," Mr. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
In a toxic system, the toxic minister sets himself or herself up as having a special destiny or mission that can be performed by no one else. This special anointing or calling is often nothing more than the pathological need to be valued or esteemed. It also takes some of the power that should be attributed to God and gives it to the toxic minister. It is a way to usurp God's authority, and it is a way to discredit anyone who disagrees with the direction of the ministry. ~ Stephen Arterburn
Stephen quotes by Stephen Arterburn
Corporations have free speech, but they can't speak like you and me. They don't have mouths or hands ... ~ Stephen Colbert
Stephen quotes by Stephen Colbert
Wondering just how Mr Church thought he had deserved anything short of impalement, Stephen walked into the cabin. ~ Patrick O'Brian
Stephen quotes by Patrick O'Brian
In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries you have these great nation states hurling their young men at one another. The victory was really going to rest on who could do the best job of bringing up their kids to become efficient and effective soldiers. That's pretty grandiose, I guess, but I do think that, and thank God it's been the armies of democracy that have emerged from this as the triumphant armies. ~ Stephen Ambrose
Stephen quotes by Stephen Ambrose
Comfort leads to complacency, and complacency kills. For this reason, I believe that we all should be a little uncoomfortable in our jobs. ~ Stephen R. Lorenz
Stephen quotes by Stephen R. Lorenz
Men! She could not understand why so many women feared them. Hadn't the gods made them with the most vulnerable part of their guts hanging right out of their bodies, like a misplaced bit of bowel? Kick them there and they curled up like snails. Caress them there and their brains melted. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
My own gut feeling is that everyone's psychic ... and it's so ingrained a part of us that we very rarely notice it. The talent may be largely preventative, and that keeps it from being noticed, too. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Take the expansion rate of the universe, which is fine-tuned to one part in a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion. That is, if it were changed by one part in either direction--a little faster, a little slower--we could not have a universe that would be capable of supporting life. ~Stephen C. Meyer, PHD~ ~ Lee Strobel
Stephen quotes by Lee Strobel
We shoot double episodes in 15 days in Los Angeles. ~ Stephen Hopkins
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hopkins

I believe in universal health care. And I am not afraid to say so. ~ Stephen Hawking
Stephen quotes by Stephen Hawking
When you keep a strong image of what you want in your mind, and possess the conviction that it is yours by right, you send out powerful vibrations to the farthest reaches of the universe. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
In 2002, in this country, there was an observation that for the first time in America, more kids were actively pursuing skateboarding than baseball. ~ Stephen Baldwin
Stephen quotes by Stephen Baldwin
It is said that there exist parallel worlds in which all other possible realities occur. Every decision we could ever make exists as a unique reality in which that decision is made. Of course you can imagine that the possibilities existing for any single person are immense. But what about the facts? What really happens. Since this really depends on others, what you get is ... it.
Limited.
It.
This is it. ~ Stephen Demone
Stephen quotes by Stephen Demone
There is a strength of conviction that can only come from being 100% wrong. ~ Stephen Schneider
Stephen quotes by Stephen Schneider
Shine bright, be yourself. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
I understand that each one of us works at a different speed, and has a slightly different process. I understand that these writers are painstaking, wanting each sentence-each word-to carry weight ... I know it's not laziness, but respect for the work, and I understand from my own work that haste makes waste. But I also understand that life is short, and that in the end, none of us is prolific. The creative spark dims, and then death puts it out. William Shakespeare, for instance, hasn't produced a new play for 400 years. That, my friends, is a long dry spell. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Always stay strong to your dream because when you lose sight of it then that is when your dream dies! ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
If two New Hampshiremen aren't a match for the devil, we might as well give the country back to the Indians. ~ Stephen Vincent Benet
Stephen quotes by Stephen Vincent Benet
Everyone's taste is different. But I think the best way to defend against regrets after opening night is to try your best to tell the story you want to tell. In terms of smaller changes over time, I think good plays are like poems. Every syllable counts. ~ Stephen Karam
Stephen quotes by Stephen Karam
Oh, rose that blushes with my love
Please help me to compose
The words I wish to speak aloud
To one who'd make me proud
If she would hold her hand in mine
And both our hearts entwine.. ~ Stephen Gately
Stephen quotes by Stephen Gately
Man's wisdom detracts from the glory of God, who is more honoured by the simplicity of the gospel, than luxuriance of wit. ~ Stephen Charnock
Stephen quotes by Stephen Charnock
All is forgotten in the stone halls of the dead. These are the rooms of ruin where the spiders spin and the great circuits fall quiet, one by one ... ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
They had human qualities a Jeopardy computer could never approach: fluency in language, an intuitive feel for hints and suggestion, and a mastery of ideas and concepts. Beyond that, they appeared to boast computer-like qualities: vast memories, fast processors, and nerves of steel. No tip-of-the-tongue glitches for Jennings or Rutter. But would a much-ballyhooed match against a machine awaken their human failings? Ferrucci and his team could always hope. ~ Stephen Baker
Stephen quotes by Stephen Baker
The really successful work in England tends to be working-class writers telling working-class stories. The film industry has been slow to wake up to that, for a variety of reasons. It still shocks me how few films are written or made in England about working-class life, given that those are the people who go to movies. ~ Stephen Daldry
Stephen quotes by Stephen Daldry
I don't think there's anything sweeter on God's green earth than scaring the living shit out of people. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
To explain the Use of Education, no Method can be more effectual, than to shew what dull Mistakes and silly Notions Men are apt to be led into for Want of it. These Mistakes are so numerous, that if we were to undertake to divulge all the Errors that Men of no Knowledge in the Sciences labour under, the shortest Way would be to publish a compleat System of Natural Philosophy, which Learning, as it may be acquired by reading the different Books, which have already been wrote upon that Subject, in this Aera of the Sciences, such an Undertaking would be quite needless at this Time, even supposing the Author capable of that laborious Work. If the following Sheets do but serve to divest Men of some of those unreasonable Obstinacies with which they and their Forefathers have long been prepossessed, the Time will be well laid out, both of the Writer and Reader. ~ Stephen Fovargue
Stephen quotes by Stephen Fovargue
Manifesting your desires requires an understanding of the universe's abundance and inherently giving nature. If you ask from a position of fear or desperation, you are sending out your fear and desperation, and the universe, giving, reflecting, and non-judgmental as it is, will send those right back at you. ~ Stephen Richards
Stephen quotes by Stephen Richards
There are lots of guys out there who write a better prose line than I do and who have a better understanding of what people are really like and what humanity is supposed to mean – hell, I know that. ~ Stephen King
Stephen quotes by Stephen King
Aren't the clouds beautiful? They look like big balls of cotton ... I could just lie here all day, and watch them drift by ... If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the cloud formations ... What do you think you see, Linus?"
"Well, those clouds up there look like the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean ... That cloud up there looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins, the famous painter and sculptor ... And that group of clouds over there gives me the impression of the stoning of Stephen ... I can see the apostle Paul standing there to one side ... "
"Uh huh ... That's very good ... What do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?"
"Well, I was going to say I saw a ducky and a horsie, but I changed my mind! ~ Charles M. Schulz
Stephen quotes by Charles M. Schulz
My Hamlet was about as alienated as you can get. Mine was a bitter and lonely prince. Valid, I think, but maybe tough to root for. I think that romance was missing. ~ Stephen Lang
