The body is a funny piece of meat. How it inflates and deflates in order to keep you alive. But how simple words can fill you up or pierce the air out of you. ~ Elizabeth Acevedo
Simple Words quotes by Elizabeth Acevedo
Writing isn't about creating perfect characters. There's no such thing. It's about creating characters that are real; flawed
yet beautiful, in that they know they need another person. Needing someone else doesn't make them weak; if they believed all they needed was them self, they would be. A strong heroine isn't afraid to admit that a best friend, or soul mate, is exactly what they need at one moment or another. A strong heroine never stands alone. They stand tall; they believe in who they are. They are perfect in every human flaw, because as humans we are flawed. And in every flaw, I see the perfection of their souls. Writers breath life into simple words and create beings
flaws and all. ~ Cassandra Giovanni
Simple Words quotes by Cassandra Giovanni
Melody is the single most important thing to any song, period. I don't care what anybody says, it trumps everything. Not because that's my opinion but because I think it's actually indisputable fact. The human brain retains melody easier than it retains words. It's that simple. ~ Ryan Tedder
Simple Words quotes by Ryan Tedder
However complicated you think it is, everything is always more complicated than that.
There are no shortcuts. Not to understanding and not to knowledge. You can't put anyone into a box.
Listen, even a stone isn't the same as any other stone, so I don't know where you all think you get off labeling humans with simple words and thinking you know everything you need.
But most people can't live that way, even some of the time. They say: only exceptional people can cross the borders. The truth is: anyone can cross, everyone has it in them. But only exceptional people can bear to look it in the eye. ~ Naomi Alderman, The Power
Simple Words quotes by Naomi Alderman, The Power
I can't actually explain why my lines got shorter, but they did. Just as I can't explain why my early poems were 'all image' and my current ones are relatively abstract. The sense of the line changed with the theme, somehow my ear (or brain or heart/mind) fell in love with a short line and very very simple words. ~ Gregory Orr
Simple Words quotes by Gregory Orr
What distinguishes consciousness of self
from the world of nature is not the simple act of contemplation by which it identifies itself with the
exterior world and finds oblivion, but the desire it can feel with regard to the world. This desire reestablishes
its identity when it demonstrates that the exterior world is something apart. In its desire, the
exterior world consists of what it does not possess, but which nevertheless exists, and of what it would
like to exist but which no longer does. Consciousness of self is therefore, of necessity, desire. But in order
to exist it must be satisfied, and it can only be satisfied by the gratification of its desire. It therefore acts in
order to gratify itself and, in so doing, it denies and suppresses its means of gratification. It is the epitome
of negation. To act is to destroy in order to give birth to the spiritual reality of consciousness. But to
destroy an object unconsciously, as meat is destroyed, for example, in the act of eating, is a purely animal
activity. To consume is not yet to be conscious. Desire for consciousness must be directed toward
something other than unconscious nature. The only thing in the world that is distinct from nature is,
precisely, self-consciousness. Therefore desire must be centered upon another form of desire; selfconsciousness
must be gratified by another form of self-consciousness. In simple words, man is not
recognized - and ~ Albert Camus
Simple Words quotes by Albert Camus
Perhaps the greatest neutralizer of sadness rests with two simple words : thank you. ~ Charles F. Glassman
Simple Words quotes by Charles F. Glassman
It was a terrible refreshment, his plain way, the simple words, the absence of strategy. It made you realize how much of your life you spent not being like that. It made you realize what a waste not being like that was. ~ Glen Duncan
Simple Words quotes by Glen Duncan
But better far it is to speak
One simple word, which now and then
Shall waken their free nature in the weak
And friendless sons of men. ~ James Russell Lowell
Simple Words quotes by James Russell Lowell
My prayer for you is that you come to understand and have the courage to answer Jesus' call to you with the simple word 'yes'. ~ Mother Teresa
Simple Words quotes by Mother Teresa
Writers possess magic. It's in their words.
They compose phrases as powerful as incantations, creating illusions in the minds of readers. These spells make eyes envision things that aren't real; they make hearts feel things that aren't actual. A writer's work is to pen enchantments meant to entrance and hypnotize the mind, causing neglect of all other duties and responsibilities in order for the reader to remain a puppet controlled by the writer's wand. And if some foul friend does manage to break the spell, he is despised for it. His heroics are too late in coming. The words―the fairy tales―have seeped beyond the body and into the soul, taking possession. Our poor reader is infected, compromised, never to be cured. The notion of magic found in simple words such as, 'Once upon a time...' has always fascinated me. It is no wonder I am compelled to write. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Simple Words quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
She smiled radiantly at the shield, pretending it was Dageus. The three simple words just didn't seem like enough. Love was so much larger than words.
"I love you, I love you, I love you. I love you more than chocolate. I love you more than the whole world is big." She paused, thinking, searching for a way to explain what she felt. "I love you more than artifacts. I love you so much it makes my toes curl just thinking about it."
Pushing her hair back from her face, she donned her most sincere expression. "I love you."
"You can have the confounded shield if you love it that much, lass," Dageus said, sounding utterly bewildered. Chloe felt all the blood drain from her face. ~ Karen Marie Moning
Simple Words quotes by Karen Marie Moning
Words, our simple words, can be used to hurt or they can be used to heal. They can build up or break down. Our words have power…the power to edify and the power to mortify. Words, the simple words we use every single day can be swords or sanctuaries, bitter herbs or sweet honey. There is no greater influence than our words…ask any child that's been built up or broken by them. In understanding the impact of our words, it's vital to harness our tongues when we speak and bridle our fingers when we type; for behind the curtain of our words reveal the truth of our hearts. Being mindful that what we say to others often reflects more about ourselves than any mirror in this world. ~ Jason Versey
Simple Words quotes by Jason Versey
The words of truth are simple. ~ Aeschylus
Simple Words quotes by Aeschylus
Be simple in words, manners, and gestures. Amuse as well as instruct. If you can make a man laugh, you can make him think and make him like and believe you. ~ Al Smith
Simple Words quotes by Al Smith
What if you allowed your God to exist in he simple words of compassion others offer you? ... What if the greatest beauty of the day is the shaft of sunlight through our window? What if the worst thing happened and you rose anyway? What if you trusted in the human scale? What if you listened harder to the story of the man on the cross who found a way to endure his suffering more than to the one about the impossible magic of the Messiah? Would you see the miracle in that? ~ Cheryl Strayed
Simple Words quotes by Cheryl Strayed
Finally he spoke the three simple words that no amount of bad art or bad faith can every quite cheapen. She repeated them, with exactly the same slight emphasis on the second word, as though she were the one to say them first. He had no religious belief, but it was impossible not to think of an invisible presence or witness in the room, and that these words spoken aloud were like signatures on an unseen contract. ~ Ian McEwan
Simple Words quotes by Ian McEwan
In our pilgrimage on this earth
we sometimes fail to see
all who the Lord touches through us
in simple words and deeds. ~ Bridgette Mongeon
Simple Words quotes by Bridgette Mongeon
There are writers who pour out words, concepts that sound really important but that basically say nothing. I always tried to be as concise as possible, all to try and reach everyone, but especially the simple people, those who needed to be reached more than anyone else. ~ Chespirito
Simple Words quotes by Chespirito
Shortly after I started hitting some notable milestones on my Spiritual journey, I went into a thrift store that benefits veterans, My eyes were quickly drawn to a dusty and tattered image of Christ laying mixed in with some other things on a shelf. I picked it up, And on it was written these words:

"If you accept it...
I would give you the gift of seeing yourself as I see you..."

The truth and love of that image and simple words stopped me in my tracks and opened my heart. Since then I have received a wonderful gift, to know myself as an Eternal Spiritual Being, a Child of our Loving Father in Heaven.

...And no I didn't buy it, I received the message loud and clear, So I left it there, in hopes that the image and words would speak to someone else's Soul in the same way they had spoken to mine. ~ Raymond D. Longoria Jr.
Simple Words quotes by Raymond D. Longoria Jr.
Gay and lifestyle. Two simple words. Yet for LGBT people, those two words, put together, are offensive and create hurt and anger. For decades anti-gay religious conservatives have used the term "gay lifestyle" as a missile to attack LGBT people, their community and struggle for equality. Used by others, it reveals their ignorance of the realities of everyday LGBT lives. We don't have lifestyles, we have lives.
Maybe saying "I disagree with the gay lifestyle" is just a nice way of saying "I hate fags" and demonstrates homophobia is still the issue. ~ Anthony Venn-Brown
Simple Words quotes by Anthony Venn-Brown
I find that often simple words say all that needs to be said in less time, using less energy, with all the details wanted- fully in tact. Love it. ~ Sereda Aleta Dailey
Simple Words quotes by Sereda Aleta Dailey
The enjoyment of life is only possible if we could get connected to the spirit. ~ Nirmala Srivastava
Simple Words quotes by Nirmala Srivastava
his consort didn't recognize the fear that drove her to ask such questions, a fear that could be encapsulated in seven simple words that formed a vicious sentence:
Will this flaw make you reject me?
...
She knew she held Raphael's heart, she
knew, and yet a wary, wounded part of her worried he'd change his mind one day, find her no longer worthy of loving. ~ Nalini Singh
Simple Words quotes by Nalini Singh
When I go out to direct a film, every day we prepare too much, we think too much. Knowledge becomes a weight upon wisdom. You know, simple words lost in the quicksand of experience. ~ Shekhar Kapur
Simple Words quotes by Shekhar Kapur
Because your question searches for deep meaning,
I shall explain in simple words ~ Dante Alighieri
Simple Words quotes by Dante Alighieri
The real art is not to come up with extraordinary clever words but to make ordinary simple words do extraordinary things. To use the language that we all use and to make amazing things occur. ~ Graham Swift
Simple Words quotes by Graham Swift
Have you ever turned to the end of a horror novel to see if the hero made it out of the darkness and into the light? If you have ever done this, I have three simple words which I feel it is my duty to convey: SHAME ON YOU! It is low to mark your place in a book by folding down the corner of the page where you left off; TURNING TO THE END TO SEE HOW IT CAME OUT is even lower. If you have this habit, I urge you to break it . . . break it at once! ~ Stephen King
Simple Words quotes by Stephen King
In three simple words I can sum up all I have learned from life, Life Goes On. ~ Robert Frost
Simple Words quotes by Robert Frost
I live by four simple words. Love. Being. Here. Now. ~ Todd Crawshaw
Simple Words quotes by Todd Crawshaw
When has anyone ever told me
I had the right to stop it all
without my knuckles, or my anger,
with just some simple words. ~ Elizabeth Acevedo
Simple Words quotes by Elizabeth Acevedo
Three simple words can describe the nature of the social revolution that is talking place and what Negroes really want. They are the words "all," "now," and "here." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Simple Words quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
I don't know how these couples do it, spend hours each night tucking their kids in, reading them books about misguided kittens or seals who wear uniforms, and then reread them if the child so orders. In my house, our parents put us to bed with two simple words: "Shut up." That was always the last thing we heard before our lights were turned off. Our artwork did not hang on the refrigerator or anywhere near it, because our parents recognized it for what it was: crap. They did not live in a child's house, we lived in theirs. ~ David Sedaris
Simple Words quotes by David Sedaris
I'm sorry. Oh, what simple words are these!
I'm sorry. Lips should breathe them out with ease!
But nay, in barring up the way,
"I'll die first" are the words you say.
I'm sorry, woe is all pride guarantees. ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
Simple Words quotes by Richelle E. Goodrich
The clear and simple words of common usage are always better than those of erudition. The jargon of the philosophers not seldom conceals an absence of thought. ~ Andre Maurois
Simple Words quotes by Andre Maurois
In more simple words, we might say everything in the universe is trying to become every other thing; and every condition of everything is trying to become every other condition. A hot iron, for example, will strive to become as cool as its environment, and the cool environment will strive to become as hot as the hot iron. They compromise and find an equilibrium between the two, which is neither the one thing nor the other. This conspicuous fact is one of the most characteristic traits of Nature. ~ Walter Russell
Simple Words quotes by Walter Russell
What is yoga ? In simple words, it is taking your attention to the Spirit. This is yoga. What does the kundalini do ? She raises your attention and takes it to the Spirit. Only after knowing the Spirit you can know God. ~ Nirmala Srivastava
Simple Words quotes by Nirmala Srivastava
If things were simple, word would have gotten around. ~ Jacques Derrida
Simple Words quotes by Jacques Derrida
I'm sorry. Two simple words with the power to change worlds. ~ Shelley Coriell
Simple Words quotes by Shelley Coriell
There are no shortcuts. Not to understanding and not to knowledge. You can't put anyone into a box. Listen, even a stone isn't the same as any other stone, so I don't know where you all think you get off labeling humans with simple words and thinking you know everything you need. But most people can't live that way, even some of the time. ~ Naomi Alderman
Simple Words quotes by Naomi Alderman

Thank God that I was born Muslim ~ Abood Dweik
Simple Words quotes by Abood Dweik
Philosophy, as long as a drop of blood shall pulse in its world-subduing and absolutely free heart, will never grow tired of answering its adversaries with the cry of Epicurus:
"Not the man who denies the gods worshiped by the multitude, but he who affirms of the gods what the multitude believes about them, is truly impious"
Philosophy makes no secret of it. The confession of Prometheus:
"In simple words, I hate the pack of gods"
is its own confession, its own aphorism against all heavenly and earthly gods who do not acknowledge human self-consciousness as the highest divinity. ~ Karl Marx
Simple Words quotes by Karl Marx
I trust you. Three simple words, but they resonated with a new beginning. ~ Pepper Winters
Simple Words quotes by Pepper Winters
The only slogan we need in order to be happy in our home is: Love Each Other -three simple words. Apply the ingredients of love. Sacrifice for each other. Make each other happy. ~ Nathan Eldon Tanner
Simple Words quotes by Nathan Eldon Tanner
When we treat God as a different identity, our thought process becomes dualistic in nature. This is due to the self ignorance, ego and immaturity; in simple words, less knowledge about our own immortality. ~ Vishal Chipkar
Simple Words quotes by Vishal Chipkar
Kindness - that simple word. To be kind - it covers everything, to my mind. If you're kind that's it. ~ Roald Dahl
Simple Words quotes by Roald Dahl
Poet
To mask the fiery thought,
in simple words succeeds.
For still the craft of genius is,
To mask a king in weeds ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Simple Words quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Calm down? Calm done! What is it about those two words that make the fury inside me burn hotter? It's as though a match is lit, setting every muscle, every nerve ending in my body, in flames. Calm down. Those simple words cause an entirely different response in a person than they should. ~ Ashley Stoyanoff
Simple Words quotes by Ashley Stoyanoff
Worst thing can happen in work place is, to work with less knowledge, pretending to be good, taking others creditability, or in simple words 'Stupid Office Politicians'. ~ Vivek Thangaswamy
Simple Words quotes by Vivek Thangaswamy
When I listen to my favorite songwriters, they have such simple melodies and chords. I occasionally manage to stop at the right time, but all too often I keep on going until I have way too many notes and words. But that's just what I do. ~ Dave Matthews
Simple Words quotes by Dave Matthews
I know my heart, Matthew. I know what I feel won't change." She took a shuddering breath and extended one unsteady hand in his direction. Her voice shook with intensity. "When I tell you I love you, that means I'll love you forever."
What does a man do when his dearest dreams come true?
Matthew stared at her outstretched hand. He'd never imagined this time would come. He wasn't prepared. Her words soaked into his soul, slowly turning the parched desert there into a verdant garden.
"You love me," he said slowly, wonderingly. Then with greater certainty, "By God, you love me." His astonished laugh ended on a choked note as he snatched her hand.
"So much," she said huskily. Her fingers curled hard around his. "So very, very much."
He dragged her back into his arms. "I can't believe it."
"Believe it," she whispered. She raised her hands to frame his face so she could look into his eyes. The blue was so pure that he saw right to her gallant, steadfast soul. "I love you, Matthew. I will always love you."
"And I love you, Grace."
Such simple words to change his life. Yet after tonight, he'd never be the same man again. ~ Anna Campbell
Simple Words quotes by Anna Campbell
Writing for children isn't easy. Kids will abandon a story that doesn't interest, enchant, delight, thrill, or terrify them. But when you can find a way into a young reader's imagination through something as simple as words on paper, well, there's nothing more satisfying. ~ Kate Klise
Simple Words quotes by Kate Klise
Telling the complete story of VeggieTales would require much more time than we have before us tonight. Since this is Yale, I decided to craft a shorter version of the story, using very large words. Remembering though that I was kicked out of Bible College before I'd had a chance to learn many very large words, I concluded that my only remaining option was to tell the story simply, using simple words, and chance the consequences. ~ Phil Vischer
Simple Words quotes by Phil Vischer
I would have told her then she was the only thing that I could
love in this dying world but the simple word "love" itself already died and went away. ~ Marilyn Monroe
Simple Words quotes by Marilyn Monroe
Our very name for God's Creation is NATURE, for that is what Nature is. I shall define Nature for you in simple words. Nature is an electric wave thought image of God's nature, electrically projected from His formless and unconditioned ONE LIGHT into countless many forms of conditioned light which we call matter. ~ Walter Russell
Simple Words quotes by Walter Russell
How can you, through my plain and simple words, possible experience the joy i felt when Robinson jumped into that Los Angeles pool, sledded on the golden sand of the Great Dunes, or kissed me in an ancient temple? How can you understand what Robinson meant to me? His laugh was like a peal of bells. He really did consider Slim Jims to be their own food group. When he played the guitar and sang, whether it was in the cancer ward or in Tompkin's Square Park, everyone stopped to listen. He was magic ~ James Patterson
Simple Words quotes by James Patterson
I could express my feelings more easily if they could be put into the notes of music, but as the very best concert would not cover my affection for you, dear daddy, I must use the simple words of my heart, to lay before you my utmost gratitude and filial affection ~ Frederic Chopin
Simple Words quotes by Frederic Chopin
Conversation would be vastly improved by the constant use of four simple words: I do not know. ~ Andre Maurois
Simple Words quotes by Andre Maurois
We stop being the moonlight and become, instead, the pool of water reflecting it. Tomorrow, the water will evaporate in the sun. And all because, one day, someone said: 'You are ugly. Or: 'She is pretty.' With those three simple words, they stole away all our self-confidence. And we become ugly and embittered. ~ Paulo Coelho
Simple Words quotes by Paulo Coelho
Hi, I'm Porter Reese." I didn't know it yet. But those four simple words changed my life all over again. ~ Aly Martinez
Simple Words quotes by Aly Martinez
Color tends to corrupt photography and absolute color corrupts it absolutely. Consider the way color film usually renders blue sky, green foliage, lipstick red, and the kiddies' playsuit. These are four simple words which must be whispered: color photography is vulgar. ~ Walker Evans
Simple Words quotes by Walker Evans
Love is not only a feeling, it is also an art. A simple word, a sensitive precaution, a mere nothing reveal to a woman the sublime artist who can touch her heart without withering it. ~ Honore De Balzac
Simple Words quotes by Honore De Balzac
But more importantly, know I love you more than I can say with simple words. Poets have attempted for centuries to find the perfect combination, and I don't imagine I shall have more luck than they. ~ Lissa Bryan
Simple Words quotes by Lissa Bryan
Today we are afraid of simple words like goodness and mercy and kindness. We don't believe in the good old words because we don't believe in good old values anymore. And that's why the world is sick. ~ Lin Yutang
Simple Words quotes by Lin Yutang
What happened?" Violet asked Jay, when Mike went to join the girls in the kitchen, giving them a moment alone in front of the fire.
Jay shook his head, his expression dark. "You tell me. One minute you were leaning on me, and the next you passed out. It freaked the shit out of me."
"Claire actually screamed," Chelsea added, rejoining them. She sat down on a wooden chair across from Violet. "I can't believe you didn't hear her. I'm with Jay though-it was pretty scary. You're lucky he caught you before you hit the ground."
Violet cringed. She glanced up at Jay, humiliated. "You…caught me?"
He nodded, and she could tell from the look on his face that he was enjoying this part. A lot. "You're welcome," he said with a completely straight face.
She looked at him again and rolled her eyes, stubbornly refusing to thank him after he'd already so clearly patted himself on the back.
Megan came back in, carrying a mug of hot chocolate, and Claire trailed behind her.
"Be careful," Megan warned quietly, handing it to Violet. "It's kind of hot."
Their fingertips brushed as the mug exchanged hands. Violet locked eyes with the younger girl. "Thank you." She imparted as much meaning as she could in the two simple words and hoped that it was gesture enough, even if only for herself. She felt bad for the things she'd suspected her of doing.
Megan pulled her hand away and glanced down nervously. "You're welcome." Her voice was timid and hesitant.
~ Kimberly Derting
Simple Words quotes by Kimberly Derting
I have prayed for new men, fiery, reckless men, possesed of uncontrollably youthful passion - these lit by the Spirit of God. I have prayed for new words, explosive, direct, simple words. I have prayed for new miracles. Explaining old miracles will not do. If God is to be known as the God who does wonders in heaven and earth, then God must produce for this generation. Lord, fill preachers and preaching with Thy power. How long dare we go on without tears, without moral passions, hatred and love? Not long, I pray, Lord Jesus, not long ... ~ Jim Elliot
Simple Words quotes by Jim Elliot
It is called the First Amendment ... Simple words marching in seried ranks. Compact, concise. To the point. Clear and pure. It's freedom's music. ~ Jack Valenti
Simple Words quotes by Jack Valenti
The work of a director can be summed up in two very simple words. Why and How. ~ Peter Brook
Simple Words quotes by Peter Brook
He also said that I would never get an apology out of you." There was a long pause. "I want one. Now."
Xcor put aside his soup and found himself searching the wounds he had given himself, recalling all that pain, all that blood - which had dried brown on the floorboards beneath him.
"And then what," he said in a rough voice.
"You'll have to find out."
Fair enough, Xcor thought.
Without grace - not that he had any, anyway - he rose to his feet. At his full height, he was unsteady for too many reasons to count, and the off-balance feeling got even worse as he met the eyes of his ... friend.
Looking Throe in the face, he stepped up and put out his palm. "I am sorry."
Three simple words spoken loud and clear. And they didn't go nearly far enough.
"I was wrong to treat you as I did. I am ... not as much of the Bloodletter as I thought - as I have e'er wanted to be. ~ J.R. Ward
Simple Words quotes by J.R. Ward
Rest is a decision we make. Rest is choosing to do nothing when we have too much to do, slowing down when we feel pressure to go faster, stopping instead of starting. Rest is listening to our weariness and responding to our tiredness, not to what is making us tired. Rest is what happens when we say one simple word: "No!" Rest is the ultimate humiliation because in order to rest, we must admit we are not necessary, that the world can get along without us, that God's work does not depend on us. Once we understand how unnecessary we are, only then might we find the right reasons to say yes. Only then might we find the right reasons to decide to be with Jesus instead of working for him. Only then might we have the courage to take a nap with Jesus. ~ Mike Yaconelli
Simple Words quotes by Mike Yaconelli
Who is it?" asks Zain, his eyes wide with disbelief at Shayda's unusual outburst. "No-one," she replies. It's a day of simple words, loaded with meaning. The no-one she said yes to a few hours ago. The no-one she agreed to spend the rest of her life with. The no-one whose rosary is dangling from her wrist. I will always be no-one. Because everyone who counts in Shayda's world is on the other side of the door. I will always be on the perimeter of her life, always the outsider, looking in. ~ Leylah Attar
Simple Words quotes by Leylah Attar
What do you want in a woman, in life?'
I thought a moment ... 'The Rangers ... we began to describe one another in a few simple words: El es muy bueno para cabalgar el rio. Meaning, 'He'll do to ride the river with.' In Texan, it means, 'I'd trust him with my life.'
I scratched my head. 'I want someone to ride the river with. ~ Charles Martin
Simple Words quotes by Charles Martin
I am constantly surprised that the simple word 'feminism' raises more eyebrows and initiates more sad-faced head-shaking than any elaborate stream of invective I have ever leveled at either the I.R.S. or the D.M.V ... ~ Gina Barreca
Simple Words quotes by Gina Barreca
I'd like to be remembered by two simple words: any two words, as long as they're simple. ~ Dan Mathews

Simple words of encouragement can brighten somebody's day. ~ Joel Osteen
Simple Words quotes by Joel Osteen
I've not chosen to learn to read print. I can read simple words but it's so tedious. ~ Mike May
Simple Words quotes by Mike May
I have learned that greatness is not often born at the head of armies or standing before large gatherings of people. I have learned that it is only rarely manifested in grandiose words or bold action and that it has little to do with position or title or authority. Rather, true greatness most often comes from small turnings within the soul, in quiet ways, in actions that the world will little note. Greatness is around us, below us. It is not often above us. We need to reach down for greatness, where the small things are at our feet. It comes in small, simple words and sublime magnanimity. ~ Donald S. Smurthwaite
Simple Words quotes by Donald S. Smurthwaite
I'm honored to serve as mayor of my hometown where our founders started America with three simple words: 'We, the people.' And when they said 'people' they didn't mean 'corporations.' ~ Michael Nutter
Simple Words quotes by Michael Nutter
A great book does not have to be a literary masterpiece with complicated sentences and words no one has heard of. It has to touch it's readers souls and make them feel. Simple words with a story and characters that drizzle over and through you like warm honey and keep you turning the pages can be just as good. ~ Amanda Mackey
Simple Words quotes by Amanda Mackey
Simple words can be given powerful meanings. Wit and wisdom are simple words that speak to truth. ~ Jim Boyd
Simple Words quotes by Jim Boyd
The First Amendment's language leaves no room for inference that abridgments of speech and press can be made just because they are slight. That Amendment provides, in simple words, that "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." I read "no law ... abridging" to mean no law abridging. ~ Hugo Black
Simple Words quotes by Hugo Black
What if all everybody needed in the world was to be sure of one friend? What if you were the one, and you refused to say those simple words? ~ Richard Russo
Simple Words quotes by Richard Russo
Simple words have the complicated meaning. ~ Deepak Gupta
Simple Words quotes by Deepak Gupta

The American dream. Those three short, simple words encompass the hopes and aspirations of all the peoples on earth. The words are not only short and simple. They are also fragile. ~ Ross Perot
Simple Words quotes by Ross Perot
I like to use simple words, but in a complicated way. ~ Carol Ann Duffy
Simple Words quotes by Carol Ann Duffy
To use a big word or a foreign word when a small one and a familiar one will answer the same purpose, is a sign of ignorance. Great scholars and writers and polite speakers use simple words. ~ Joseph Devlin
Simple Words quotes by Joseph Devlin
There was very little man left within his eyes - she knew a beast when she saw one, knew short, simple words worked best, most often to tame or quiet an impending attack. But in this case
"More," she breathed. ~ Erin Kellison
Simple Words quotes by Erin Kellison
I live by three simple words: compassion, love and gratitude. We need to act on these three words daily. Doing so will irrevocably change your world. ~ Julian Pencilliah
Simple Words quotes by Julian Pencilliah
I am overwhelmed sometimes and feel a great deal of wonder at words, just simple words and how deeply we can touch each other with them, though I know that most of the time language is the most abused of all human abilities or traits. ~ Leslie Marmon Silko
Simple Words quotes by Leslie Marmon Silko
My mother has always loved piano music and hungered to play. When she was in her early sixties, she retired from her job as a computer programmer so that she could devote herself more fully to the piano. As she had done with her dog obsession, she took her piano education to an extreme. She bought not one, not two, but three pianos.

One was the beautiful Steinway B, a small grand piano she purchased with a modest inheritance left by a friend of her parents'. She photocopied all of her music in a larger size so she could see it better and mounted it on manila folders. She practiced for several hours every day. When she wasn't practicing the piano she was talking about the piano.

I love pianos, too, and wrote an entire book about the life of one piano, a Steinway owned by the renowned pianist Glenn Gould. And I shared my mother's love for her piano. During phone conversations, I listened raptly as she told me about the instrument's cross-country adventures.

Before bringing the Steinway north, my mother had mentioned that she was considering selling it. I was surprised, but instead of reminding her that, last I knew, she was setting it aside for me, I said nothing, unable to utter the simple words, "But, Mom, don't you remember your promise?" If I did, it would be a way of asking for something, and asking my mother for something was always dangerous because of the risk of disappointment. ~ Katie Hafner
