Rarely do we invest the time to open the book of another's life. When we do, we are usually surprised to find its cover so misleading and its reviews so flawed. ~ Richard Paul Evans
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Paul Evans
At the end, entrepreneurship is not about wearing expensive suits and earning a lot of money. It is all about being true to yourself, to your values in life. Your dreams. ~ Richard Branson
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Branson
Let us remind ourselves of the terminology. A theist believes in a supernatural intelligence who, in addition to his main work of creating the universe in the first place, is still around to oversee and influence the subsequent fate of his initial creation. In many theistic belief systems, the deity is intimately involved in human affairs. He answers prayers; forgives or punishes sins; intervenes in the world by performing miracles; frets about good and bad deeds, and knows when we do them (or even think about doing them). A deist, too, believes in a supernatural intelligence, but one whose activities were confined to setting up the laws that govern the universe in the first place. The deist God never intervenes thereafter, and certainly has no specific interest in human affairs. Pantheists don't believe in a supernatural God at all, but use the word God as a non-supernatural synonym for Nature, or for the Universe, or for the lawfulness that governs its workings. Deists differ from theists in that their God does not answer prayers, is not interested in sins or confessions, does not read our thoughts and does not intervene with capricious miracles. Deists differ from pantheists in that the deist God is some kind of cosmic intelligence, rather than the pantheist's metaphoric or poetic synonym for the laws of the universe. Pantheism is sexed-up atheism. Deism is watered-down theism. ~ Richard Dawkins
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Dawkins
This seems to have been St. Augustine's very notion of "memory," not just nostalgia for some past moment, but connecting past, present, and future in one complete contemplative knowing. ~ Richard Rohr
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Rohr
Religion and science have nothing to do with each other, they're about different things, science is about the way the world works and religion is about miracles, I mean, if you ask most ordinary people in church or in a mosque why they believe, it's almost certainly got something to do with the belief that God does wonderful things, that God intervenes, that God heals the sick, that God answers prayers, God forgives sins. ~ Richard Dawkins
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Dawkins
I can't be sure God does not exist ... On a scale of seven, where one means I know he exists, and seven I know he doesn't, I call myself a six ... That doesn't mean I'm absolutely confident, that I absolutely know, because I don't. ~ Richard Dawkins
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Dawkins
Let's discipline ourselves so that our words are few and full. ~ Richard J. Foster
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard J. Foster
Don't waste a minute fretting over the infinite destructive possibilities of The Singularity. Think of all the fun we're going to have along the way! It will all be one glorious adventure, start to finish! ~ Richard Long
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Long
The only thing that matters is what we do with now. What we do with what's left of us after the pain rips us apart. It's what's left of us that matters. What's left of us. ~ Richard Farrell
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Farrell
The reality is, we can change. We can change ourselves. We can change our minds. We can change our hearts ... and therefore the Universe changes. ~ Richard Gere
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Gere
Loneliness, I've read, is like being in a long line, waiting to reach the front where it's promised something good will happen. Only the line never moves, and other people are always coming in ahead of you, and the front, the place where you want to be, is always farther and farther away until you no longer believe it has anything to offer you. ~ Richard Ford
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Ford
In Australia, the Man Booker is sometimes seen as something of a chicken raffle. ~ Richard Flanagan
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Flanagan
I think white is the most wonderful color of all, because within it one can find every color of the rainbow. ~ Richard Meier
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Meier
While [the] precious, vital message [of the Restoration] has been proclaimed across the world, Satan has been most effective in causing people to ignore it or to look in the wrong places for it. The vast majority of Father's children have not only forgotten their Father in Heaven and the purpose of mortal life, but they rarely even think of Him nor ponder for what purpose they are here in mortality. They have been led to be absorbed by mundane things that distract them from the essential ones. Don't you make that mistake. ~ Richard G. Scott
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard G. Scott
Not just one way to describe ourselves, but two ways, at least.
Not just one way to hunt for a job, but two ways, at least.
Not just one kind of job to hunt for, but two kinds of jobs, at least.
Not just one size company to go after, but two sizes, at least.
Not just one place we really would like to work at, but two places, at least. ~ Richard N. Bolles
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard N. Bolles
Burn brightly without burning out. ~ Richard Biggs
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Biggs
Poetry isn't heard with your ears it is translated from your heart listened to by your soul. ~ Richard M. Knittle Jr.
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard M. Knittle Jr.
It has been said that Canada is bounded 'on the north by gold, on the west by the East, on the east by history - and on the south by friends'.* We hope that will always be the case and we hope it will be the case not only with respect to the United States, your immediate neighbor to the south, but with respect to all your southern neighbors - and ours - who are bound by the great forces of geography and history which are distinctive to the New World. ~ Richard M. Nixon
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard M. Nixon
And no one knows that better than those who kill for policy, clandestinely or openly, as do the governments of the world, which kill in the name of god and country or for whatever reason they deem appropriate. ~ Richard Ramirez
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Ramirez
I read.. because one life is not enough ~ Richard Peck
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Peck
Never argue at the dinner table, for the one who is not hungry always gets the best of the argument. ~ Richard Whately
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Whately
Religion teaches the dangerous nonsense that death is not the end. ~ Richard Dawkins
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Dawkins
If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone. ~ Benjamin Franklin
Richard Harrow quotes by Benjamin Franklin
The job of the writer is to change the way the reader sees the world. ~ Richard Ford
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Ford
To investigate the history of man's development, the most important finds are, of course, hominid fossils. ~ Richard Leakey
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Leakey
(Francis) Bacon's best known writings are his essays. They are loved for many reasons, such as their being so short. ~ Richard Armour
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Armour
Nothing is as real as dreams. ~ Richard Bowes
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Bowes
You can't write ... on the strength of influence. You can only write a good story or a good novel by yourself. ~ Richard Ford
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Ford
Believing in Christ is the world's great need, and our great obligation is to tell all people that they need to do so. ~ Richard D. Phillips
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard D. Phillips
Our God is not made of stone. His heart is the most sensitive and tender of all. No act goes unnoticed, no matter how insignificant or small. A cup of cold water is enough to put tears in the eyes of God. God celebrates our feeble expressions of gratitude. ~ Richard J. Foster
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard J. Foster
The only enlightened masters I know are the people that I see every day and the people that I've seen through my life who have had the understanding, at some level, that we're here to express love. ~ Richard Bach
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Bach
Then turn around thrice, widdershins"?'
'Widdershins is anticlockwise, Richard.'
He turned, three times, feeling stupid. 'Look, why do I have to do all this, just to see your friend. I mean, all this nonsense...'
'It's not nonsense. Really. Just - humour me on this, OK?' And she had smiled at him.
He stopped turning. Then he walked down the alley to the end. Nothing. No one. Just a metal dustbin, and beside it something that might have been a pile of rags. 'Hello?' called Richard. 'Is anyone here? I'm Door's friend. Hello?'
No. There was no one there. Richard was rather relieved. Now he could go home and explain to the girl that nothing had happened. ~ Neil Gaiman
Richard Harrow quotes by Neil Gaiman
I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. I have approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of uncertainty about different things, but I am not absolutely sure of anything and there are many things I don't know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask why we're here. I don't have to know an answer. I don't feel frightened not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without any purpose, which is the way it really is as far as I can tell. ~ Richard Feynman
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Feynman
The problem with an autobiography is that all these extra factors make it difficult. You don't want to hurt people's feelings. You don't know how much you can trust your memory. You don't want it to be self-serving. And you have all these issues about how to present yourself. All these factors make it harder to do than a novel. ~ Richard Hell
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Hell
I saw School of Rock, and I was like, why haven't I worked with Richard Linklater already? Then by the time I got him I was like, I'm really pissed off I feel like you owe me some retroactive swag. He gave me the 10-year anniversary "Dazed and Confused" T-shirt, which I still wear with relish. ~ Robert Downey, Jr.
Richard Harrow quotes by Robert Downey, Jr.
You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war (James 4:1, 2). ~ Richard J. Foster
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard J. Foster
Let those who wish have their respectability- I wanted freedom, freedom to indulge in whatever caprice struck my fancy, freedom to search in the farthermost corners of the earth for the beautiful, the joyous, and the romantic. ~ Richard Halliburton
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Halliburton
I attempted in vain to calculate the size of the holdings on the shelves, floor on floor, only to boggle hopelessly, baffled by bibliographic boundlessness. ~ Richard Fortey
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Fortey
I went to work, but the mood of the book would not die; it lingered, coloring everything I saw, heard, did. I now felt that I knew what the white man were feeling. Merely because I had read a book that had spoken of how they lived and thought, I identified myself with that book. ~ Richard Wright
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Wright
I've never really been star struck. I was a little bit taken aback when I was doing a chat show recently and I was sat in the make-up chair chatting to a guy say next to me but I couldn't look round and see who it was, it was only when I got up I realised it had been Bryan Adams I'd been talking to! ~ Richard Fleeshman
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Fleeshman
We made this! It's so beautiful. The word lay beyond the rest of the team's list of formal descriptors. It seemed to have a real referent; the new woman apparently meant something when she used it. Beauty might even have had some physical reality, some selective advantage conferred over the last billion or so years. But what formal rules the quality adhered to, what behaviors it meant to elicit, not even Spider Lim's body could begin to guess. ~ Richard Powers
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Powers
Jahrling sat down at his desk and sighed. There was a landfill of papers on his desk, mostly about smallpox, and it was discouraging. On top of the heap sat a large red book with silver ~ Richard Preston
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Preston
It's becoming very much like 1979 again. ~ Richard Wright
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Wright
But sometimes [love] was just there: ... he was ... shocked to know he had been lucky to live and know it, to love and be loved. ~ Richard Flanagan
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Flanagan
I only have an awareness of what I'm trying to achieve as an actor and what my job as the character is to service. ~ Richard Madden
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Madden
Dear little house that I have lived in, there is happiness you have seen, even before I was born. In you is my life, and all the people I have loved are a part of you, so to go out of you, and leave you, is to leave myself. ~ Richard Llewellyn
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Llewellyn
What others believe is not my concern, unless they attempt to force it on me. ~ Richard K. Morgan
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard K. Morgan
No failure means no risk, which means nothing new ~ Richard Branson
Richard Harrow quotes by Richard Branson
To the reactionary ear every whispered criticism of the elite classes has always sounded like the opening shot of an uprising. ~ Richard Hofstadter
