It's like when you put instant rice pudding mix in a bowl in the microwave and push the button, and you take the cover off when it rings, and there you've got ricing pudding. I mean, what happens in between the time when you push the switch and when the microwave rings? You can't tell what's going on under the cover. Maybe the instant rice pudding first turns into macaroni gratin in the darkness when nobody's looking and only then turns back into rice pudding. We think it's only natural to get rice pudding after we put rice pudding mix in the microwave and the bell rings, but to me, that is just a presumption. I would be kind of relieved if, every once in a while, after you put rice pudding mix in the microwave and it rang and you opened the top, you got macaroni gratin. I suppose I'd be shocked, of course, but I don't know, I think I'd be kind of relieved too. Or at least I think I wouldn't be so upset, because that would feel, in some ways, a whole lot more real. ~ Haruki Murakami
Rice Pudding quotes by Haruki Murakami
And roast beef and Yorkshire pudding is my personal signature dish. ~ Ben Elton
Rice Pudding quotes by Ben Elton
On Christmas Eve, we have a duck or roast pork with caramelised potatoes, braised red cabbage and gravy. For dessert, we have ris a l'amande, a rice pudding, and whoever gets the whole almond in it wins an extra present. Then we dance around the tree and sing carols. ~ Birgitte Hjort Sorensen
Rice Pudding quotes by Birgitte Hjort Sorensen
I don't know
maybe the world has two different kinds of people, and for one kind the world is this completely logical, rice pudding place, and for the other it's all hit-or-miss macaroni gratin. ~ Haruki Murakami
Rice Pudding quotes by Haruki Murakami
The owner's wife gave me a container of chicken soup and a quart of rice pudding to take home. She was a broad, solid woman with thick arms and legs. She swiped vigorously at the stain on my coat with a wad of dampened paper towel, and I remembered Pegeen then: There's always someone nice. ~ Alice McDermott
Rice Pudding quotes by Alice McDermott
There are three things in life I really don't like: Rice pudding. Social climbers - you know, hang-ons! And the photo shoot! ~ Ivana Trump
Rice Pudding quotes by Ivana Trump
It was sort of like Macbeth, thought Fat Charlie, an hour later; in fact, if the witches in Macbeth had been four little old ladies and if, instead of stirring cauldrons and intoning dread incantations, they had just welcomed Macbeth in and fed him turkey and rice and peas spread out on white china plates on a red-and-white patterned plastic tablecloth
not to mention sweet potato pudding and spice cabbage
and encouraged him to take second helpings, and thirds, and then, when Macbeth had declaimed that nay, he was stuffed nigh unto bursting and on his oath could truly eat no more, the witches had pressed upon him their own special island rice pudding and a large slice of Mrs. Bustamonte's famous pineapple upside-down cake, it would have been exactly like Macbeth. ~ Neil Gaiman
Rice Pudding quotes by Neil Gaiman
My grandfather's short employ at the Ford Motor Company marked the only time any Stephanides has ever worked in the automotive industry. Instead of cars, we could become manufacturers of hamburger platters and Greek salads, industrialists of spanakopita and grilled cheese sandwiches, technocrats of rice pudding and banana cream pie. Our assembly line was the grill; our heavy machinery, the soda fountain. ~ Jeffrey Eugenides
Rice Pudding quotes by Jeffrey Eugenides
Some children like to make castles out of their rice pudding, or faces with raisins for eyes. It is forbidden
so sternly that, when they grow up, they take a horrid revenge by dying meringues pale blue or baking birthday cakes in the form of horseshoes or lyres or whatnot. ~ Julia Child
Rice Pudding quotes by Julia Child
When I was a player, I'd have a pre-match meal of the biggest lump of fillet steak you could find, followed by rice pudding. Other times I'd have a steak and kidney pie. I'd finish the meal at 12.30 and be playing two-and-a-half hours later. ~ Fabio Capello
Rice Pudding quotes by Fabio Capello
He gestured toward the rice pudding. "I put cinnamon on it. Cancels out the cholesterol. Read about it on the Men's Health Web site."
Her lips twitched. "That's bullshit." She eyed the banana cream pie. "What cheap pop-science justification have you got for that one?"
He contemplated the pie. "Well, bananas are good for you. Lots of potassium, which helps you shed water weight, right? And there's no trans fats in the pie crust. I can promise you that."
"Yeah?" Her lips pursed, suppressing a smile. "So what is in it?"
He grinned wickedly. "Lard," he announced. "Artery clogging, cholesterol-laden pig fat. Hope you're not a vegetarian. ~ Shannon McKenna
Rice Pudding quotes by Shannon McKenna
And then she looked up and saw Flush. Something unusual in his look must have struck her. She paused. She laid down her pen. Once he had roused her with a kiss, and she thought that he was Pan. He had eaten chicken and rice pudding soaked in cream. He had given up the sunshine for her sake. She called him to her and said she forgave him. ~ Virginia Woolf
Rice Pudding quotes by Virginia Woolf
When you stir your rice pudding, Septimus, the spoonful of jam spreads itself round making red trails like the picture of a meteor in my astronomical atlas. But if you stir backwards, the jam will not come together again. Indeed, the pudding does not notice and continues to turn pink just as before. Do you think this is odd? ~ Tom Stoppard
Rice Pudding quotes by Tom Stoppard
In my case, I learned that although God loves us, he doesn't grant us immunity from the consequences of our choices. ~ Donna Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Donna Rice
Don't cling to reason so desperately in a world of so many horrid contradictions ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice

Rice Pudding quotes by Condoleezza Rice
Between us and the writers, it was comedy hour the whole time. We could hardly get through it. ~ Buddy Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Buddy Rice
Phil was mumbling that Reuben might become a writer after all and writers had a way of redeeming everything that ever happens to them. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
The Secret Life of Bees proves that a family can be found where you least expect it-maybe not under your own roof, but in that magical place where you find love. The Secret Life of Bees is a gift, filled with hope! ~ Luanne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Luanne Rice
Do we have to confess our loves to everyone?" asked Thorne softly. "Can we not keep some secrets? ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Worse still was that Thor sensed his brothers, paradoxically, were threatened by him, maybe even hated him. Thor could see it in their every glance, every gesture. He didn't understand how, but he aroused something like fear ~ Morgan Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Morgan Rice
I definitely gravitate towards things like vegetables, chicken, brown rice, but I don't deprive myself of anything. If I want a Sprinkles cupcake, I'm having a Sprinkles cupcake. But I'm not going to have one every day ... you just have to have a sensible outlook on all of it. ~ Abigail Spencer
Rice Pudding quotes by Abigail Spencer
Don't you see? I'm not the spirit of any age. I'm at odds with everything and always have been! I have never belonged anywhere with anyone at any time! ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
I farther assure this noble Duke, that I neither encouraged nor provoked that worthy citizen to seek for plenty, liberty, safety, justice or lenity, in the famine, in the prisons, in the decrees of convention, in the revolutionary tribunal, and in the guillotine of Paris, rather than quietly to take up with what he could find in the glutted markets, the unbarricadoed streets, the drowsy Old Bailey judges, or, at worst, the airy, wholesome pillory of Old England. The choice of country was his own taste. The writings were the effects of his own zeal. In spite of his friend Dr. Priestley, he was a free agent. I admit, indeed, that my praises of the British government loaded with all its encumbrances; clogged with its peers and its beef; its parsons and its pudding; its Commons and its beer; and its dull slavish liberty of going about just as one pleases, had something to provoke a Jockey of Norfolk [Thomas Paine], who was inspired with the resolute ambition of becoming a citizen of France, to do something which might render him worthy of naturalization in that grand asylum of persecuted merit. ~ Edmund Burke
Rice Pudding quotes by Edmund Burke
His smile turned into a grin. He looked down at his tray and shoveled rice onto his fork. "You guys hitting that party tonight?"
"Which one?" Becca said drily. "We try to make the circuit."
He smiled in a way that said he saw right through her. "Well - and I want to make sure I get this straight - Monica said Claire said her boyfriend's best friend's brother was home from college with that skank Melissa - "
"No," said Becca sharply. "We're not. ~ Brigid Kemmerer
Rice Pudding quotes by Brigid Kemmerer
We would make our heroes shallow ... We would make them brittle. It is they who must remind us of the true meaning of strength. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
I want no Christmas without a burden for lost souls, a message for sinners, a heart to bring in the lost sheep so dear to the Shepherd, the sinning souls for whom Christ died. ~ John R. Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by John R. Rice
John Lewis Gaddis had come to visit shortly before the election and over lunch said something that resonated with me. "Never forget how really dependent the world is on America. And they know it. ~ Condoleezza Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Condoleezza Rice

Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice

Rice Pudding quotes by Jerry Rice
Every time I stumbled and fell, something in me hardened, became worse.
By the time I reached the castle gates; I think I was not Lestat. I was someone else altogether. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
They sat in silence until the howl of a distant coyote made her shiver. "He sings for his mate," Cade reassured her. "Does he think the sound of his loneliness will attract her?" Lily asked wryly. "I'm sure it is the beauty of his song." His voice contained almost a hint of a chuckle. "I'm sure that's what he thinks." Her scoffing hid an undertone of bitterness, and Cade was silent for a while. "Men often hide their fears with actions," he finally said. By ~ Patricia Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Patricia Rice
with green beans and rice. ~ Charlaine Harris
Rice Pudding quotes by Charlaine Harris
Fear is a relative term and so I can only measure my feelings at that time by what I had experienced in previous positions of danger and by those that I have passed through since; but I can say without shame that if the sensations I endured during the next few minutes were fear, then may God help the coward, for cowardice is of a surety its own punishment. ~ Edgar Rice Burroughs
Rice Pudding quotes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
I eat stories instead of bread or rice. I usually eat books, but I love handwriting best. Love stories are sugary, so I like those even better. So you better write me a suuuuper yummy story. ~ Mizuki Nomura
Rice Pudding quotes by Mizuki Nomura
Any professional sportsman will tell you that you can work out in the gym as much as you like, but eating is the key. It's making sure that you eat a healthy diet with lots of fruit and carbohydrates, such as pasta and rice, so that you're always refuelling. If you're going into games tired or your training tired, then there's a risk of injury. ~ Phil Hill
Rice Pudding quotes by Phil Hill
I come and stand at every door
But none can hear my silent tread
I knock and yet remain unseen
For I am dead for I am dead

I'm only seven though I died
In Hiroshima long ago
I'm seven now as I was then
When children die they do not grow

My hair was scorched by swirling flame
My eyes grew dim my eyes grew blind
Death came and turned my bones to dust
And that was scattered by the wind

I need no fruit I need no rice
I need no sweets nor even bread
I ask for nothing for myself
For I am dead for I am dead

All that I need is that for peace
You fight today you fight today
So that the children of this world
Can live and grow and laugh and play

- The Girl Child ~ Nazim Hikmet
Rice Pudding quotes by Nazim Hikmet
The proof is in the pudding. ~ Miguel De Cervantes
Rice Pudding quotes by Miguel De Cervantes
Is there any one of us who doesn't want to strike back at all the evil in this world? ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Blood Genesis In the beginning were the spirits. They were invisible beings, heard and seen only by the most powerful sorcerers or witches. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
On writing, my advice is the same to all. If you want to be a writer, write. Write and write and write. If you stop, start again. Save everything that you write. If you feel blocked, write through it until you feel your creative juices flowing again. Write. Writing is what makes a writer, nothing more and nothing less. - Ignore critics. Critics are a dime a dozen. Anybody can be a critic. Writers are priceless. - Go where the pleasure is in your writing. Go where the pain is. Write the book you would like to read. Write the book you have been trying to find but have not found. But write. And remember, there are no rules for our profession. Ignore rules. Ignore what I say here if it doesn't help you. Do it your own way. - Every writer knows fear and discouragement. Just write. - The world is crying for new writing. It is crying for fresh and original voices and new characters and new stories. If you won't write the classics of tomorrow, well, we will not have any. Good luck. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
I am honored to have had two Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions made from my novels - 'Silver Bells' and 'Follow the Stars Home.' ~ Luanne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Luanne Rice
What, exactly, she had been protesting was subject to interpretation. To the poorest, her self-immolation was a response to enervating poverty. To the disabled, it reflected the lack of respect accorded the physically impaired. To the unhappily married, who were legion, it was a brave indictment of oppressive unions. Almost no one spoke of envy, a stone slab, a poorly made wall, or rubble that had fallen into rice. ~ Katherine Boo
Rice Pudding quotes by Katherine Boo
It's always the young ones who end it. The ones for whom mortality holds magic. As we grow older it's eternity that is our boon. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
I do not think that I am ever overconfident. I am merely wholly confident, and I maintain that there is all the difference in the world there. ~ Edgar Rice Burroughs
Rice Pudding quotes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
It was as if I had only just been able to see colours and shapes for the first time. I was so enthralled with the buttons on Lestat's black coat that I looked at nothing else for a long time. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Somehow, I never feel like good things b'long to me till I pass 'em on to somebody else. ~ Alice Hegan Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Alice Hegan Rice
I'm not promoting myself as the next great American driver, as some people are describing me. If that's what people want to call me, fine. But I've got more important things to focus on. ~ Buddy Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Buddy Rice
But you're dead inside to me, you're cold and beyond my reach! It is as if I'm not here, beside you. And, not being here with you, I have the dreadful feeling that I don't exist at all. And you are as cold and distant from me as those strange modern paintings of lines and hard forms that I cannot love or comprehend, as alien as those hard mechanical sculptures of this age which have no human form. I shudder when I'm near you. I look into your eyes and my reflection isn't there ... ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
A mother's love is like a tower, Rising far above the crowd, And her smile is like the sunshine, Breaking through a threatening cloud. ~ Helen Steiner Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Helen Steiner Rice
You know nothing,' she said to him gravely, her voice so low that
the slightest noise from the street interrupted it, might carry her words
away, so that I found myself straining to hear her against myself as I
lay with my head back against the chair. `And suppose the vampire
who made you knew nothing, and the vampire who made that
vampire knew nothing, and the vampire before him knew nothing,
and so it goes back and back, nothing proceeding from nothing, until
there is nothing! And we must live with the knowledge that there is no
knowledge.'
`Yes!' he cried out suddenly, his hands out, his voice tinged with
something other than anger. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Never make a blood drinker of a greater age, said Eudoxia. For a greater mortal age can only lead to misery later on from habits learned in mortal life. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Enjoy your life, fill your belly with wine and food, and accept death. The Gods kept immortality for themselves, death is the lot of man. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
Playfulness. We've baked Mallomars and Rice Krispies treats, made milkshakes, and even built a macaron cake in the shape of a Christmas tree. These items remind people of their childhood; we just re-create them with adult flavors. ~ David Castle
Rice Pudding quotes by David Castle
Let the spirits witness: for theirs is the knowledge of the future - both what it would be, and what I will: You are the Queen of the Damned, that's what you are! Evil is your only destiny. But at your greatest hour, it is I who will defeat you. Look well on my face. It is I who will bring you down. ~ Anne Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Anne Rice
I could read music before I could read. ~ Condoleezza Rice
Rice Pudding quotes by Condoleezza Rice
Usually when I put my focus on the pacing, the plot, the specific characterizations, - it's ironic - but then I actually increase my chances of writing something that moves people because I haven't become too self-conscious of the goal. ~ Christopher Rice
