In my view, it is important that our national government exercise leadership to improve the resiliency of the entire nation in the face of continuing extreme weather. ~ Matt Cartwright
Resiliency quotes by Matt Cartwright
Life is a lesson that must never be taken for granted. ~ Debra Roinestad
Resiliency quotes by Debra Roinestad
Resiliency is the key to love. ~ Ronald Rolheiser
Resiliency quotes by Ronald Rolheiser
Trauma really does confront you with the best and the worst. You see the horrendous things that people do to each other, but you also see resiliency, the power of love, the power of caring, the power of commitment, the power of commitment to oneself, the knowledge that there are things that are larger than our individual survival. And in some ways, I don't think you can appreciate the glory of life unless you also know the dark side of life ~ Bessel Van Der Kolk
Resiliency quotes by Bessel Van Der Kolk
I think we've bounced back and really been resilient. Even after a bad period, we take over and we seem like we're on a mission. That comes with leadership and experience and a lot of things. A lot of it is mental toughness and resiliency in the situation you're at, just trusting in your teammates. ~ Mike Fisher
Resiliency quotes by Mike Fisher
Moments of reflection occur with calm deliberation and careful thought. Imagine the thoughts which would come to you if you would simply allow them. By giving intentional consideration to a situation, you will gain clarity which you may not have achieved otherwise. ~ Susan C. Young
Resiliency quotes by Susan C. Young
In real life, as it is in fiction, character is both formed and revealed when we are tested. When we are forced to make decisions under pressure, that test can either make us stronger or it can highlight our weaknesses and crack us into pieces. ~ Bryan Cranston
Resiliency quotes by Bryan Cranston
Resiliency is not gender-, age-, or intellectually specific ... ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
Sometimes I think the biggest challenge in talking about the church is telling ourselves the truth about it - acknowledging the scars, staring down the ugly bits, marveling at its resiliency, and believing that this flawed and magnificent body is enough, for now, to carry us through the world and into the arms of Christ. ~ Rachel Held Evans
Resiliency quotes by Rachel Held Evans
In life's most difficult situations, it is our capacity to cope and personal resiliency that are put to the ultimate test. It's then that the freedom to choose our attitude takes center stage. To exercise this freedom effectively, however, we must be able to view any given situation from different vantage points. We must know we are and be flexible and courageous enough to make a shift when necessary, even if it means moving away from what is expected or considered normal. ~ Alex Pattakos
Resiliency quotes by Alex Pattakos
North Star: Hooray if you're ready, however overdue it may seem, to peel back the layers. If you're not, remind yourself that inside you, along with all the pieces you're afraid to look at, are big chunks of courage and resiliency you rely on without even realizing that you do so. They're so fundamental that they've steered you capably through most of life. ~ Helen S. Rosenau
Resiliency quotes by Helen S. Rosenau
America is a powerful country. America is a great country. We have enormous resiliency. Any time we have had our back to the wall, we have come out a winner. ~ Kenneth Langone
Resiliency quotes by Kenneth Langone
Boundaries are, in simple terms, the recognition of personal space. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
My policy has always been to burn my bridges behind me. My face is always set toward the future. If I make a mistake it is fatal. When I am flung back I fall all the way back - to the very bottom. My one safeguard is my resiliency. So far I have always bounced back. ~ Henry Miller
Resiliency quotes by Henry Miller
Mine is a story about a teenage single mother who struggled to keep her young family afloat. It's a story about a young woman who was given a precious opportunity to work her way up in the world. It's a story about resiliency, and sacrifice, and perseverance. And you're damn right it's a true story. ~ Wendy Davis
Resiliency quotes by Wendy Davis
One of the ways to discover our toughness and resiliency is to look back at where we come from. (from Amazon description) ~ Jeannette Walls
Resiliency quotes by Jeannette Walls
Resiliency is the body's internal response to a stressful situation. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
Kyoto is dead and has been dead, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't done some real damage and won't continue to do some real damage," "If global warming turns out to be a problem, which I doubt, it won't be solved by making ourselves poorer through energy rationing." "It will be solved through building resiliency and capability into society and through long-term technological innovation and transformation. ~ Myron Ebell
Resiliency quotes by Myron Ebell
Studying the history of our ancestors is instructive. I understand some of my parents' struggles and sacrifices. I am acquainted with my grandparents and great grandparents' way of life. The common denominator that runs through their lifeblood is a hardpan of resiliency, courage, and work ethic. They also shared a phenomenal degree of competency essential to make due in an open land where the pioneering spirit meets nature under a big sky full of endless possibilities for triumph and setback. My forebears took care of their family members and tended their ancestral land before the word caretaker was a recognized term for a loving man, woman, or child. Self-reliant people who master the skills essential for survival in a harsh clime also value helping other people who are in a fix. All my predecessors were quick to lend a hand to a neighbor in need. Their ability to see life through the heart was the decisive feature of their pioneering pluck.

How we start a day, presages how the day shall unfold. Each day when I awaken, I feel clobbered by the preceding day. At days end, I feel comparable to a chewed on piece of masticated beef. I devote all available personal energy reserves to simply getting by and muss over how I can engender the energy to make it through today's pulp works. In reality, I go on because akin to every generation that preceded me and every generation that succeeds me, I must continue onward or I will expire. The one fact that keeps me going is the ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Resiliency quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
I can't help but marvel at the resiliency of trans people who sacrifice so much to be seen and accepted as they are. Despite those sacrifices, trans people are still wrongly viewed as being confused. It takes determination and clear, thought-out conviction, not confusion, to give up many of the privileges that Genie did to be visibly herself, though her experiences varied from my own. ~ Janet Mock
Resiliency quotes by Janet Mock
The resiliency of the human spirit to recover and flourish over devastating adversity has been well documented. No matter how overwhelming the loss or destructive the setback, we rise. No matter how grueling this is, it's no different. We will get through this... and we will rise. ~ Steve Maraboli
Resiliency quotes by Steve Maraboli
It's not enough to step in front of people's bullets; you have to be bulletproof too. You have to be harder than anything anyone else can throw at you, and sometimes you risk losing yourself just trying to save yourself. ~ Anthony Breznican
Resiliency quotes by Anthony Breznican
Security-by-design is an indispensable prerequisite to the establishment of vital critical infrastructure resiliency. Each device vulnerable to adversarial compromise, inflates and bolsters the exploitable cyber-attack surface that can be leveraged against targets, and every enslaved device grants adversaries carte blanche access that can be utilized to parasitically entwine malware into organizational networks and IoT microcosms, and that can be leveraged to amplify the impact and harm inflicted on targeted end-users, organizations, and government entities ~ James Scott, Sr. Fellow, Institute For Critical Infrastructure Technology
Resiliency quotes by James Scott, Sr. Fellow, Institute For Critical Infrastructure Technology
As Americans, we have traditionally been the optimists sporting the 'can-do' attitude. But when it comes to addressing climate adaptation and resiliency, we seem to be more 'can't do' than 'can-do.' ~ Paul Tonko
Resiliency quotes by Paul Tonko
Trauma does not have to occur by abuse alone... ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
Stronach's fragile beauty belies an emotional strength, pragmatic resiliency, and intellectual courage. Her ideas and choreography are both enigmatic and playful. ~ Tami Stronach
Resiliency quotes by Tami Stronach
The best predictor of success is a sense of resiliency, grit, capacity to fail and get up. If you're prevented from feeling discomfort of failure, you have no sense of how to handle those things at all. ~ Julie Lythcott-Haims
Resiliency quotes by Julie Lythcott-Haims
The table is the number one place we pass on family stories and it's the knowledge of where your family came from that helps build self-esteem and resiliency in kids. When we stop having dinners, we stop passing on those stories. And, of course, when you make food at home you actually know what's in the food you are eating. It is the healthiest, greenest thing you can do! ~ Laurie David
Resiliency quotes by Laurie David
Whever we experience a pain or a loss... we usually bounce back. Sometimes even stronger. That's called "resiliency." Why can we do that, come back stronger?
The person who can explain that process and "teach" us how to better go through it will win the Nobel Prize one day. Til then, we're on our own! ~ Jose N Harris
Resiliency quotes by Jose N Harris
To the extent that we believe we can skip steps, avoid the process, magically gain power through political connections or easy formulas, or depend on our natural talents, we move against this grain and reverse our natural powers. We become slaves to time – as it passes, we grow weaker, less capable, trapped in some dead end career. We become captive to the opinions and fears of others." (9) "This intense connection and desires allows them to withstand the pain of the process – the self-doubts, the tedious hours of practice and study, the inevitable setbacks, the endless barbs from the envious. They develop a resiliency and confidence that others lack. ~ Robert Greene
Resiliency quotes by Robert Greene
Belief in self and self-acceptance appeared to have a direct impact on one's resiliency and overall worldview. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
The trauma you've experienced and survived is the most powerful part of your life experience. Honor and celebrate your resiliency. ~ Leonie H. Mattison
Resiliency quotes by Leonie H. Mattison
But resiliency only means that a thing retains its shape. That it doesn't break, or lose its ability to function. It doesn't mean a child forgets the time she shared in the backyard with her mother gardening, or the fun they had together watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks at the Astro. It just means she learns to bear it. The mechanism that allowed Lisa Sample to keep her head above water in the wake of her mother's departure has not been described or cataloged by scientists. It's efficient, and flexible, and probably transferable from one person to another should they catch the scent on each other. But the rest of the details about it aren't observable from the outside. You have to be closer than you really want to get to see how it works. ~ John Darnielle
Resiliency quotes by John Darnielle
I have a different idea of what bravery is."
"What-complaisance?"
"In a sense. Acceptance, resiliency. How strong must one be to throw a temper tantrum?"
"Is that what you'd call this? You and your people storm our homeland, take us all prisoner and any form of resistance is a temper tantrum in your eyes?"
He pondered this for a moment, his freckled nose crinkling.
"Yes. ~ Cayla Kluver
Resiliency quotes by Cayla Kluver
The musical culture in the United States has no doubt suffered severe setbacks, especially in funding, since the early 2000's. However, I've been amazed at the resiliency of those involved with contemporary music in this country. I think composers and those dedicated to contemporary music have reacted with tremendous creativity and resourcefulness. ~ Michael Hersch
Resiliency quotes by Michael Hersch
Now, what's stirring in this murky sea of complexity and foolishness is an almost suffocating need to breathe fresh history. ~ Laurie Perez
Resiliency quotes by Laurie Perez
My sister is a good story of resiliency. She had a full ride at UC Davis, but she left school to go to the Philippines - and then she decided to go back to school in her 40s, which surprised me. She went to UC Berkeley, and I think she was one of two African Americans in her class at Haas. She's really impressive. ~ Chili Davis
Resiliency quotes by Chili Davis
Your soul has a resiliency and a capacity to endure suffering that is beyond anything you can imagine. ~ Bryant McGill
Resiliency quotes by Bryant McGill
Dig deep to finish what you start. Because no matter how hard it feels to push through adversity at the time, once your done, you'll own the experience for the rest of your life. ~ Aaron Lauritsen
Resiliency quotes by Aaron Lauritsen
In the face of all this, it is your culture that will be the driving force to create the resiliency, toughness, passion, and attitude to overcome the obstacles in your way. ~ Jon Gordon
Resiliency quotes by Jon Gordon
There was, however, a difference between his mood and that of the rest of the cabinet. They felt desperate; he felt challenged. ~ William Manchester
Resiliency quotes by William Manchester
Truly nothing is to be expected except for the unexpected. ~ Alice James
Resiliency quotes by Alice James
Extraordinary individuals take one step back and two steps forward with most every challenge-and sometimes two steps back to one step forward. They harvest useful lessons and knowledge from what doesn't work, and they display a remarkable resiliency; and ability to bounce back from adversity. ~ Jerry I. Porras
Resiliency quotes by Jerry I. Porras
Children who are resilient often have an appearance of a Teflon coating: nothing seems to faze these children. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
I was many things, but I wasn't a quitter. I didn't give up, and I wasn't going to start. ~ Gwenda Bond
Resiliency quotes by Gwenda Bond
Adversity is a good test of our resiliency, our ability to cope, to stand back up, to recover from misfortune. Adversity is a painful pedagogue. ~ Charles R. Swindoll
Resiliency quotes by Charles R. Swindoll
A woman can be demure, lady-like and the most prim and proper character, and still have a toughness and resiliency as apparent as a superhero-type female character or a warrior or soldier type. It's all about the story, the character, and the course of events in that piece of work and how that character is presented. ~ Katherine McNamara
Resiliency quotes by Katherine McNamara
I'm saying that mushrooms are very clever at surveying a landscape and taking a long-term view of the health of the population of the descendent organisms that give rise to the forest, that create the debris fields, that feed the fungi, that help the fungi's own progeny live downstream. They take a very advanced view of ecosystem health and management, trying to increase soil depth, and, by increasing soil depth and the richness of the soil, to increase the carrying capacity of the ecosystem. Higher carrying capacity leads to more biodiversity, more sustainability, more resiliency. ~ Derrick Jensen
Resiliency quotes by Derrick Jensen
The question is not how can I overcome fear? The question is: how can I use it creatively? If you have problems (and we all do), how are you going to deal with them? To be is to be imperfect. Contentment is resiliency, the willingness and the ability to see the opportunities presented by mistakes. Take what you like and pay for it - failure is the price you pay for success. It is the wages of growth. Success is failing forwards, figuring out how to conduct suffering, and in its reconstruction to transform it into illumination. Eschew impatience. Let stillness teach you where your centre is, where your origins are. Be impeccable in all your dealings with the world. Integrity isn't a luxury - it's an essential. Remember the best advice of the I Ching: perseverance furthers. ~ Billy Marshall Stoneking
Resiliency quotes by Billy Marshall Stoneking
Childhood trauma does not come in one single package. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
There's no matter here you can't re-matter into love. ~ Laurie Perez
Resiliency quotes by Laurie Perez
Life can be difficult at times and many questions have no answers. The determination it takes to go on and the resiliency required of the human spirit to find joy is an integral part of existing as human. Running is symbolic of this struggle. The joy and satisfaction come from meeting the challenge head on, and realizing that just when you think you cannot go on anymore, if you pull deep from within yourself, you will find strength beyond anything imaginable. ~ Jacqueline Simon Gunn
Resiliency quotes by Jacqueline Simon Gunn
Those who have not lived in New Orleans have missed an incredible, glorious, vital city
a place with an energy unlike anywhere else in the world, a majority-African American city where resistance to white supremacy has cultivated and supported a generous, subversive, and unique culture of vivid beauty. From jazz, blues, and and hip-hop to secondlines, Mardi Gras Indians, jazz funerals, and the citywide tradition of red beans and rice on Monday nights, New Orleans is a place of art and music and food and traditions and sexuality and liberation. ~ Jordan Flaherty
Resiliency quotes by Jordan Flaherty
Rabbits (says Mr. Lockley) are like human beings in many ways. One of these is certainly their staunch ability to withstand disaster and to let the stream of their life carry them along, past reaches of terror and loss. They have a certain quality which it would not be accurate to describe as callousness or indifference. It is, rather, a blessedly circumscribed imagination and an intuitive feeling that Life is Now. A foraging wild creature, intent above all upon survival, is as strong as the grass. ~ Richard Adams
Resiliency quotes by Richard Adams
You can talk about strategy all you want, but what really matters is resiliency. ~ Hale Irwin
Resiliency quotes by Hale Irwin
I believe that the ability to laugh at oneself is fundamental to the resiliency of the human spirit. ~ Jill Conner Browne
Resiliency quotes by Jill Conner Browne
His resiliency was not the resiliency of the dumb but of a lamb who can remember hurt but cannot sustain the anger or the bitterness that brittles the heart. ~ Dean Koontz
Resiliency quotes by Dean Koontz
I learned to play football in the streets. Every day of school, everyone came and played football. The street is a good school, and you learn many things there - resiliency, how to play against older players, and how to put up with or dodge kicks. ~ Sergio Aguero
Resiliency quotes by Sergio Aguero
[T]he normal and the everyday are often amazingly unstoppable, and what is unimaginable is the cessation of them. The world is resilient, and, no matter what interruptions occur, people so badly want to return to their lives and get on with them. A veneer of civilization descends quickly, like a shining rain. Dust is settled. ~ Lorrie Moore
Resiliency quotes by Lorrie Moore
Lost Wax"

My love gives me some wax,
so for once instead of words
I work at something real;
I knead until I see emerge
a person, a protagonist;
but I must overwork my wax,
it loses it's resiliency,
comes apart in crumbs.

I take another block;
this work, I think, will be a self;
I can feel it forming, brow
and brain; perhaps it will be me,
perhaps, if I can create myself,
I'll be able to amend myself;
my wax, though, freezes
this time, fissures, splits.

Words or wax, no end
to our self-shaping, our forlorn
awareness at the end of which
is only more awareness.
Was ever truth so malleable?
Arid, inadhesive bits of matter.
What might heal you? Love.
What might make you whole? Love. My love. ~ C. K. Williams
Resiliency quotes by C. K. Williams
Diversify Your Sources of Self-Esteem

Another way to increase your resiliency is to diversify your sources of self-esteem. Just like putting all your money in a single stock is risky, putting all your self-esteem eggs in one basket is psychologically risky. If your self-esteem is almost entirely based on your career achievements, having a flat stomach, or how hot your boyfriend or girlfriend is, you'll be at more risk of coming unstuck psychologically if your career stalls, you gain weight, or your hot boyfriend or girlfriend dumps you. You'll feel less anxious if your self-esteem isn't too closely tied to just one or two domains.
Experiment: Self-esteem is composed of (1) a sense of self-worth and (2) a sense of being competent at things. For example, sources of self-worth might involve loving and being loved by others; an ability to make other people feel comfortable and at ease, or positive contributions you make to society, your field, or your community. In contrast, a sense of competency might come from being good at computer tasks, being able to prepare a dinner party for 10, or paying your bills on time. Try coming up with three sources of self-worth and three things you're competent at. Aim to recognize areas you've tended to underappreciate. ~ Alice Boyes
Resiliency quotes by Alice Boyes
Our planet is falling victim to a rigorism, so that what is done in any remote corner affects - nay, menaces - the whole. Resiliency and tolerance are lost. ~ Richard M. Weaver
Resiliency quotes by Richard M. Weaver
I bring values, resiliency, a thick skin, and I'm not afraid to be confrontational. I don't remember anyone before bringing that to the table. ~ Carl Paladino
Resiliency quotes by Carl Paladino
We're talking about the fate of our economy and the questionable resiliency of our Nation's critical infrastructure. Why are experts so polite, patient, and forgiving when talking about cybersecurity and National Security? The drama of each script kiddie botnet attack and Nation State pilfering of our IP has been turned into a soap opera through press releases, sound bites and enforced absurdity of mainstream media. It's time for a cybersecurity zeitgeist in the West where cyber hygiene is a meme that is aggressively distributed by those who have mastered it and encouraged to be imitated by those who have experienced it. ~ James Scott, Senior Fellow, Institute For Critical Infrastructure Technology
Resiliency quotes by James Scott, Senior Fellow, Institute For Critical Infrastructure Technology
Trauma can have a masking effect. ~ Asa Don Brown
Resiliency quotes by Asa Don Brown
The culture and heritage should stay intact and be maintained as it provides the individuals with some degree of resiliency. The effects of the trauma is what should be focused on and treated. Improving the quality of life for survivors is the focus of treatment. It is not to erase the past. ~ Thomas Hodge
