Looking back at that moment, I understand that I had lived in books so long, in my narrow university setting, that I had become compressed by them internally. Suddenly, in this echoing house of Byzantium-one of the wonders of history-my spirit leaped out of its confines. I knew in that instant that, whatever happened, I could never go back to my old constraints. I wanted to follow life upward, to expand with it outward, the way this enormous interior swelled upward and outward. My heart swelled with it... ~ Elizabeth Kostova
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Elizabeth Kostova
1. A question is a prayer to one's self.
2. Wars prove that the past will destroy the future.
3. The heart of darkness will bestow either holiness or madness. A voice from the depths of the gloomy loneliness of the soul will bestow an amazing observer philosophy.
4. Abstract transformations of chance prove that there is no order and will not even be in high culture.
5. The heart of reality beats in the rhythm of verses and music of beatniks, endless improvisations of opinions are like gloomy but romantic apathy of jazz - these are timid steps to the truth, as if connecting usb wires of the logic of various people, we are connected to eternity in eternal unity, we learn the common self of humanity. Exhaling cigarette smoke looking into the future with black glasses, fear that does not see terror in our eyes, he sees through glasses only courage and courage where we seem to take the last leap into the abyss of inevitability. A ray of light hits in the distance, we go to the end from dawn to dawn, snapping our fingers, we go to the climax of truth coming out of the fog of self-deception, breathing in the air of freedom from illusions, we where there are no screens of annoying instincts and other vices of self-destruction.
6. Advertising is the harshest dictator of values.
7. Accident is communication with reality.
8. Socialization is the slavery of self-deception.
9. Loneliness is music in the soul that voices feelings and emotions permeat ~ Musin Almat Zhumabekovich
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Musin Almat Zhumabekovich
One day, while he was idly reciting his verses to a captive audience, a scrap of paper, borne by the wind, landed on his lap. On it were written two words: "Layla" and "Majnun." As the crowd watched, Majnun tore the paper in half. The half on which was written "Layla" he crumpled into a ball and threw over his shoulder; the half with his own name he kept for himself.
"What does this mean?" someone asked.
"Do you not realize that one name is better than two?" Majnun replied. "If only you knew the reality of love, you would see that when you scratch a lover, you find his beloved."
"But why throw away Layla's name and not your own?" asked another.
Majnun glowered at the man. "The name is a shell and nothing more. It is what the shell hides that counts. I am the shell and Layla is the pearl; I am the veil and she is the face beneath it."
The crowd, though they knew not the meaning of his words, were amazed by the sweetness of his tongue. ~ Reza Aslan
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Reza Aslan
The Qur'an has not merely been revealed in Arabic: it has been revealed in eloquent Arabic. The language is clear and cogent, and there is no vagueness in it; every word is unambiguous and every style adopted is well known to its addressees. The Qur'an says:

The faithful Spirit has brought it down into your heart [O Prophet] that you may become a warner [for people] in eloquent Arabic. (26:193-195)

In the form of an Arabic Qur'an, free from any ambiguity that they may save themselves [from punishment]. (39:28)

This is an obvious reality about the Qur'an. If this premise is accepted, then it must be conceded that no word used or style adopted by the Qur'an is rare or unknown (shadh). Its words and styles are well known and conventionally understood by its addressees. No aspect of the language has any peculiarity or rarity in it. Consequently, while interpreting the Qur'an, the conventionally understood and known meanings of the words should be taken into consideration. Apart from them, no interpretation is acceptable. Thus in the verses: وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ (6:55), the meaning of the word اَلنَّجْمُ can only be "stars". In وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ وَلَا نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا إِذَا تَمَنَّى أَلْقَى الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُمْنِيَّتِهِ (52:22), the word تَمَنَّى can only mean "desire". In أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ (17:88), the word الْإِبِلِ has only been used for "camel". The only meaning of t ~ Javed Ahmad Ghamidi
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Javed Ahmad Ghamidi
The rest of the evening passed agreeably: the crew had their games on the main deck, resigning themselves to Sirs and dice now that dancing was out, those who would go ashore to enjoy the dining halls and tea houses went after their matches were lost, and those who remained either took themselves off to an early rest or remained with the musicians, to sing out the remainder of the evening by way of a few round songs, calling out verses in melodic dissonance, singing the history of Good Marrie the Whore and though there were "Ten hands in her purse, there was still room for one more!", ~ Michelle Franklin
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Michelle Franklin
If I could understand that every 'reality' was once a 'wish', and that it moved from the latter to the former because someone was committed enough to make it so, I'd be the person that I want verses the person I've become. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
A sunset is the end of a day now passed. Yet, for some reason we get caught in the reality of the descending dark verses the anticipation of a rising dawn. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
Then I speak to her in a language she has never heard, I speak to her in Spanish, in the tongue of the long, crepuscular verses of Díaz Casanueva; in that language in which Joaquín Edwards preaches nationalism. My discourse is profound; I speak with eloquence and seduction; my words, more than from me, issue from the warm nights, from the many solitary nights on the Red Sea, and when the tiny dancer puts her arm around my neck, I understand that she understands. Magnificent language! ~ Pablo Neruda
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Pablo Neruda
I can't change the past and I'm truly sorry that people got hurt along the way but not everything reported in the media is reality and continuing to rehash things publicly only makes it more difficult for everyone to heal. I hope for the sake of our children we can all move forward and heal privately. I wish their mother nothing but the best. ~ Eddie Cibrian
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Eddie Cibrian
[T]he more radical the person is, the more fully he or she enters into reality so that, knowing it better, he or she can transform it. This individual is not afraid to confront, to listen, to see the world unveiled. This person is not afraid to meet the people or to enter into a dialogue with them. This person does not consider himself or herself the proprietor of history or of all people, or the liberator of the oppressed; but he or she does commit himself or herself, within history, to fight at their side. ~ Paulo Freire
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Paulo Freire
And," I continued, "I'm probably going to be a bitch most of the time. I guarantee I'll find a reason to yell at you almost every day, and don't be surprised if a few drinks get dumped on you from time to time. That's just me, and you're going to have to deal with it. Because I'm not changing for you or anyone else. And I-"
Wesley slid off his bar stool and pressed his lips against mine before the words could get out. My heart pounded as every thought vacated my mind. One of his arms encircled my waist, pulling me as close to him as possible, and his free hand cupped my face, his thumb tracing my cheekbone. He kissed me so passionately I thought we would catch on fire.
It wasn't until after he pulled away, both of us in need of some air, that I could think straight again.
"You jerk!" I yelled, pushing him away from me. "Kissing me to make me shut up? God, you're so obnoxious. I could just throw something at you right now."
Wesley hopped onto his bar stool with a big grin, and I suddenly remembered him telling me that I was sexy when I was mad at him. Go figure. "Excuse me, Joe," he called to the bartender. "I think Bianca wants a Cherry Coke."
Despite my best efforts, I smiled. He wasn't perfect, or even remotely close, for that matter, but, hey, neither was I. We were both pretty fucked up. Somehow, though, that made everything more exciting. Yeah, it was sick and twisted, but that's reality, right? Escape is impossible, so why not embrace it?

Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Kody Keplinger
More American young people can tell you where an island that the 'Survivor' TV series came from is located than can identify Afghanistan or Iraq. Ironically a TV show seems more real or at least more meaningful interesting or relevant than reality. ~ John Fahey
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by John Fahey
Fashion is intoxicating, and it plays a part in all of our everyday lives. A lot of people use it as a form of escape, of realising a fantasy, and in some ways that becomes an unobtainable norm. ~ Erin O'Connor
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Erin O'Connor
Fantasy is an area where it is possible to talk about right and wrong, good and evil, with a straight face. In mainstream fiction and even in a good deal of mystery, these things are presented as simply two sides of the same coin. Never really more than a matter of where you happen to be standing. ~ Robert Jordan
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Robert Jordan
We seemed to share certain ideas about what happens in childhood, when you have to place yourself under the sign of your own name, your face, your voice, your outward reality. When you become a fixed position, a thing to others and to yourself. There were times, I told him, at the age of five, six, seven, when it was a shock to me that I was trapped in my own body. Suddenly I would feel locked into an identity, trapped inside myself, as if the container of my person were some kind of terrible mistake. My own voice and arms, my name, seemed wrong. As if I were a dispersed set of nodes that had been falsely organized into a form, and I was living in a nightmare, forced to see from out of this limited and unreal "me." I wasn't so sure I occupied one place, one person, and Sandro said this made sense, this instinct of a child, to question the artificial confines of personhood. ~ Rachel Kushner
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Rachel Kushner
If I had been shipped off to Dalbreck, there are valuable things I never would have learned. ~ Mary E. Pearson
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Mary E. Pearson
The world didn't stop because we weren't in it anymore. ~ Susanna Kaysen
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Susanna Kaysen
'Going home' is a journey to the heart of who we are, a place where we can be ourselves and welcome the reality of our beauty and our pain. From this acceptance of ourselves, we can accept others as they are and we can see our common humanity. ~ Jean Vanier
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Jean Vanier
She lived in the dream world of unreality, or else she would not admit reality; he did not know. In any case, he loved her as she was. It might never be used, but it would give her pleasure to have it. ~ Nevil Shute
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Nevil Shute
Practice in your dreams what you will perfect in reality. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Matshona Dhliwayo
Grab reality by the balls and squeeze. ~ Janet Morris
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Janet Morris
Once more for Britain," I said to the empty room. I might not be the Queen everyone wanted me to be, but I was intelligent and fully capable of breaking the code. ~ Courtney Brandt
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Courtney Brandt
When you fail to educate a child, you are storing him up for a future disaster."
- Abdulazeez Henry Musa. ~ Abdulazeez Henry Musa
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Abdulazeez Henry Musa
Perception is a vice with which each person is capable of perceiving his or her reality. ~ Asa Don Brown
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Asa Don Brown
I feel that's one of the central questions of fantasy. What did we lose when we entered the 20th and 21st century, and how can we mourn what we lost, and what can we replace it with? We're still asking those questions in an urgent way. ~ Lev Grossman
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Lev Grossman
How many times have I turned away? How may voices have I chosen to ignore, my own not least of all? How far into darkness, into shadow, must one crawl not to see? And how can the blind walk out? - C.V. Dreesman, The Marksmith ~ C.V. Dreesman
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by C.V. Dreesman
When you mix with the wrong energy, there's bound to be an explosion. Pay attention and switch lanes when the signal changes. What's really real, is ultimately revealed. ~ T.F. Hodge
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by T.F. Hodge
The hardest thing over the years has been having the courage to go against the dominant wisdom of the time to have a view that is at variance with the present consensus and bet that view. The hard part is that the investor must measure himself not by his own perceptions of his performance, but by the objective measure of the market. The market has its own reality. In an immediate emotional sense the market is always right so if you take a variant point of view you will always be bombarded for some time by conventional wisdom as expressed by the market. ~ Michael Steinhardt
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Michael Steinhardt
Polls could be self-fulfilling prophecies, shaping reality as much as they described it. ~ Rick Perlstein
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Rick Perlstein
The way I approach any role, whether it's comedy or drama, I like to look for the truth first. I think comedy for the sake of comedy wears dull pretty quickly. You have to ground the character in reality first and allow the audience to sympathize, emphasize and be more invested. ~ Matt McGorry
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Matt McGorry
There's no melody in life that is sweeter than the sound of success and accomplishment. ~ Abdulazeez Henry Musa
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Abdulazeez Henry Musa
Justice is a concept. Muscle is the reality. ~ Linda Blandford
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Linda Blandford
I was very much inspired by the things that I'd seen and done in politics, but I was also desperate for a complete departure from the reality of my political experience. 'It's Classified' and my previous book 'Eighteen Acres' are both works of fiction, but if they do seem realistic, it's by design. ~ Nicolle Wallace
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Nicolle Wallace
When I was in high school, we were all laboring under the illusion, or maybe it was a reality, that everyone in our school was a virgin. ~ James Woods
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by James Woods
Fear of the mob is a superstitious fear. It is based on the idea that there is some mysterious, fundamental difference between rich and poor, as though they were two different races, like Negroes and white men. But in reality there is no such difference. The mass of the rich and the poor are differentiated by their incomes and nothing else, and the average millionaire is only the average dishwasher dressed in a new suit. Change places, and handy dandy, which is the justice, which is the thief? Everyone who has mixed on equal terms with the poor knows this quite well. But the trouble is that intelligent, cultivated people, the very people who might be expected to have liberal opinions, never do mix with the poor. For what do the majority of educated people know about poverty? ~ George Orwell
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by George Orwell
Sometimes the most logical thought that come out from our head is far from "logic" in reality. ~ Dian Agung Yogantara
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Dian Agung Yogantara
I want these tiny snippets of perfection between us to be our constant reality. ~ Colleen Hoover
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Colleen Hoover
A lot of people are living in a dream world - they want to deny that aging occurs or believe it doesn't have to occur. They'll hold on to this belief until the moment they die. The reality will eventually hit them. ~ S. Jay Olshansky
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by S. Jay Olshansky
We have grand visions of our lives because we assume we are the center of the universe while in reality, the universe doesn't even realize we're there. ~ R.S. Grey
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by R.S. Grey
Your thoughts, vividly imagined and repeated, charged with emotion, become your reality. ~ Brian Tracy
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Brian Tracy
I believe excellent fantasy reflects us all, and yes, it can use those myths that underpin societies, our subconscious yearnings and longings, and perhaps our barren spirituality. ~ Isobelle Carmody
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Isobelle Carmody
I go to Las Vegas
or at least I went to Las Vegas
because even though I knew everything that was sinister, calculating, and evil about it, I loved Las Vegas. Only in Vegas could I dare to fantasize that I was a Friend of Frank. Or that I was throwing the dice at Dino's favorite table. Or that I might luck out and sip bourbon with Rickles after his last lounge show. The D.I. oozed that kind of heady fantasy. ~ Marc Cooper
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Marc Cooper
There are two things I'm very passionate about; doing things I genuinely enjoy doing and doing things that brings positive change in other people's life. ~ Abdulazeez Henry Musa
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Abdulazeez Henry Musa
We need to be wise consumers of information in an age of artificially created reality, written by professional propagandists, bought and paid for by special interests who many times disguise themselves as grassroots movements but are nothing but AstroTurf. They'll give you turf burns and turf toe, but never the truth. ~ H.L. Wegley
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by H.L. Wegley
We live in a cruel world, Isabel," he says, without looking at me. "I am only a man, and will not always live up to your expectations. And to me, that is a painful reality. But we must never be cruel to one another. Let there be peace between us. ~ Sylvia Bambola
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Sylvia Bambola

Startups are not the best choice for work-life balance, and that's sort of just the sad reality. ~ Sam Altman
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Sam Altman
People's belief in their own local reality-tunnels keep us all far stupider than we ought to be ... ~ Robert Anton Wilson
Reality Verses Fantasy quotes by Robert Anton Wilson
Jacob wrote that the true poet 'is like a man who is happy anywhere, in endless measure, if he is allowed to look at leaves and grass, to see the sun rise and set. The false poet travels abroad in strange countries and hopes to be uplifted by the mountains of Switzerland, the sky and sea of Italy. He comes to them and is dissatisfied. He is not as happy as the man who stays at home and sees the apple trees flower in spring, and hears the small birds singing among the branches ~ Jacob Grimm
