The second redemption upstaged the first. God sent not Moses but Jesus. He smote not Pharaoh but Satan. Not with ten plagues but a single cross. The Red Sea didn't open, but the grave did, and Jesus led anyone who wanted to follow him to the Land of No More. No more law keeping. No more striving after God's approval. 'You can rest now,' he told them. ~ Max Lucado
Pharaoh quotes by Max Lucado
The amazing thing, when she came to do the long-postponed Egypta in 1910, after she had won international fame, was that she did indeed do a work which was not only a day in the life of Egypt but the life of the nation itself, starting with dawn, with prayer, with the river Nile (she was the river itself), with the labors of the working people of Egypt, with temple ceremonies, with entertainment of the pharaoh, and with the final judgment when, before the god Osiris, the heart of Egypt is weighed against the feather of truth. ~ Walter Terry
Pharaoh quotes by Walter Terry
When Moses says, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?" God answers not by telling Moses who he is, but by telling him who God is, saying, "I will be with you" (Exodus 3:12) ~ Harold S. Kushner
Pharaoh quotes by Harold S. Kushner
Have you ever had sex with a Pharaoh?
I put the pussy in a sarcophagus ~ Kanye West
Pharaoh quotes by Kanye West
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired,' said Maxie.
'I know how that feels,' said Blue.
'I think some Pharaoh had that carved on his tomb,' Maxie added.
'Yeah? Times don't change much, do they? ~ Charlie Higson
Pharaoh quotes by Charlie Higson
How the hell was she going to fight them?
With style. She could almost hear Niko's voice. She grinned, despite herself. Do try not to die, won't you? That was Tyler. It would have been followed by a delicate yawn. And Oz: Keep your head down and don't be stupid. Lise: Bitch, do not even think about leaving me alone with all this testosterone. Giselle: You can't win if you die, so suck it up. Tutresiel: Princess, you aren't even trying if you're dying.
And Alexander: Come home. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
If you want to lead, study Moses; if you want to manage study Pharaoh. ~ Jason Taylor
Pharaoh quotes by Jason Taylor
There was no money economy in Egypt, and all exchange of goods was carried out by barter. Each citizen paid a tax in kind of everyt5hing he produced, and the wealth of the pharaoh thus consisted of the grain, livestock, and other goods that he took as taxes. He also received metals and other goods as tribute or in trade from abroad. ~ Norman F. Cantor
Pharaoh quotes by Norman F. Cantor
Saul answered, "But am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest tribe of Israel, and is not my clan the least of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say such a thing to me?" (1 Samuel 9:21). "But Lord," Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family" (Judges 6:15). But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" (Exodus 3:11). When God calls, you will probably be in the most unlikely circumstances to receive that call. You will be in the midst of a crisis, you will lack resources and you will not have the skills you think you need. This is the way of God. God works this way because He wants you to know that your call is based on His ability, not yours. When you think it is based on you, you possess a false humility, which is unbelief and disobedience on your part. ~ Os Hillman
Pharaoh quotes by Os Hillman
Pharaoh is clearly a metaphor. He embodies and represents raw, absolute, worldly power. He is, like Pilate after him, a stand-in for the whole of the empire. As the agent of the "empire of force," he reappears in many different personae.9 ~ Walter Brueggemann
Pharaoh quotes by Walter Brueggemann
At times, God's history seems to operate on an entirely different plane than ours ... Exodus identifies by name the two Hebrew midwives who helped save Moses' life, but it does not bother to record the name of the Pharaoh ruling Egypt (an omission that has baffled scholars ever since). ~ Philip Yancey
Pharaoh quotes by Philip Yancey
in the first place, Majesty, a pyramid is power. It is repression, force, and wealth. But it is just as much: domination of the rabble; the narrowing of its mind; the weakening of its will; monotony; and waste. O my Pharaoh, it is your most reliable guardian. Your secret police. Your army. Your fleet. Your harem. The higher it is, the tinier your subjects will seem. And the smaller your subjects, the more you rise, o Majesty, to your full height. ~ Ismail Kadare
Pharaoh quotes by Ismail Kadare
I dressed up like a crazy pharaoh for you, man! ~ Troy Barnes
Pharaoh quotes by Troy Barnes
The early and relatively sophisticated Egyptians understood that their civilization would be threatened if they bred with the Negroes to their south, so pharaohs went so far as "to prevent the mongrelization of the Egyptian race" by making it a death penalty-eligible offense to bring blacks into Egypt. The ancient Egyptians even constructed a fort on the Nile in central Egypt to prevent blacks from immigrating to their lands. In spite of the efforts by the Egyptian government to defend their civilization, blacks still came to Egypt as soldiers, slaves, and captives from other nations. By 1,500 B.C., half of the population of southern Egypt was of mixed blood, and by 688 B.C., societal progress had ended in Egypt when Taharka became the first mulatto pharaoh. By 332 B.C., Egypt had fallen when Alexander the Great conquered the region. ~ Kyle Bristow
Pharaoh quotes by Kyle Bristow
I tell you, you Heaven's Holy Baal, you don't exist; but that, if you did, I would curse you so that your Heaven would quiver with the fire of hell! I tell you, I have offered you my service, and you repulsed me; and I turn my back on you for all eternity, because you did not know your time of visitation! I tell you that I am about to die, and yet I mock you! You Heaven God and Apis! with death staring me in the face - I tell you, I would rather be a bondsman in hell than a freedman in your mansions! I tell you, I am filled with a blissful contempt for your divine paltriness; and I choose the abyss of destruction for a perpetual resort, where the devils Judas and Pharaoh are cast down! ~ Knut Hamsun
Pharaoh quotes by Knut Hamsun
Just remember, I am not going anywhere," he said, still watching her lips. "And if you ever try to hide from me, I will not believe you are dead. I will find you. Count on it. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
no more effect upon [him] than the miracles of Moses had on the heart of Pharaoh." The argument boiled ~ Thomas J. Fleming
Pharaoh quotes by Thomas J. Fleming
In a typically grandiose description of the military exploits of Pharaoh Amenemhet I, who ruled Egypt from 1985 to 1956 BCE, the enemies of Egypt are represented as nonhuman predators. "I subdued lions, I captured crocodiles," he boasted. "I repressed those of Wawat, I captured the Medjai, I made the Asiatics do the dog walk. ~ David Livingstone Smith
Pharaoh quotes by David Livingstone Smith
[Egyptian] advances in medicine, however, as well as in other areas of science, were limited to their attempts to solve the problems confronting them. They did not attempt to probe into the realm of theory.
"History for the Egyptians was the cyclic recurrence of the elements of the divine eternal order. Just as the land was reborn each year, so the pharaoh who died and became Osiris was reborn in Horus, his son and successor. The passage of time was marked by the succession of pharaohs, who were grouped into dynasties and numbered. ~ Norman F. Cantor
Pharaoh quotes by Norman F. Cantor
People who know very little about ancient Egypt are most likely, if they know anything at all, to have at least a vague idea about the Pharaoh Akhenaten and be able to recognize the face of his beautiful wife, Nefertiti. ~ Pamela Sargent
Pharaoh quotes by Pamela Sargent
Verse 12 [of Ex. 12) tells us that the judgment of Yahweh is not only on the Egyptians but also on their deities. This is probably an allusion to the fact that Egyptians would often pray for the safety of their firstborn, particularly firstborn sons, as was the custom in many ancient patriarchal cultures. The death of the firstborn would be seen as a sign of the anger or perhaps the impotence of their gods. This is worth pondering when it comes to the death of Jesus as God's only begotten, or beloved, Son. Would Jesus' contemporaries have assumed his death was a manifestation of God's wrath? Probably so. In any event, Yahweh is showing his superiority over the spirits behind the pagan deities, and thus we should not overlook the supernatural struggle that is implied to be behind the contest of wills between Moses and Pharaoh. ~ Ben Witherington III
Pharaoh quotes by Ben Witherington III
You can be a pharaoh. Like, a pharaoh means, that which you will become. ~ Jaden Smith
Pharaoh quotes by Jaden Smith
Make this quick," he told her. "And do not die. I have plans for you when we get back to Horngate. They will not be nearly as pleasant if you are a corpse. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Dewar's rule in his laboratory was as absolute as that of a Pharaoh, and he showed deference to no one except the ghost of Faraday whom he met occasionally all night in the gallery behind the lecture room. ~ Kurt Mendelssohn
Pharaoh quotes by Kurt Mendelssohn
Khufu who is believed to have been the pharaoh who commissioned the building of the great pyramid at Giza. ~ Michael Tsarion
Pharaoh quotes by Michael Tsarion
In the Red Sea of His own blood, our Redeemer has drowned the Pharaoh of our sins! ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Pharaoh quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
W. S. Plumer said, "We never see sin aright until we see it as against God...All sin is against God in this sense: that it is His law that is broken, His authority that is despised, His government that is set at naught...Pharaoh and Balaam, Saul and Judas each said, 'I have sinned'; but the returning prodigal said, 'I have sinned against heaven and before thee'; and David said, 'Against Thee, Thee only have I sinned. ~ Jerry Bridges
Pharaoh quotes by Jerry Bridges
It was a crypt where music played to masses of the dead, and McJagger was their desolate pharaoh, a walking mummified king. I remembered it well. ~ Red Tash
Pharaoh quotes by Red Tash
She'd worry about it later. For now, she had an appointment with a homicidal godlet. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Zia's senile grandfather? Nope. That was Ra, god of the sun, first divine pharaoh of Egypt and archenemy of Apophis. Last spring we'd gone on a quest to find him and revive him from his twilight sleep, trusting he would rise in all his glory and fight the Chaos snake for us. ~ Rick Riordan
Pharaoh quotes by Rick Riordan
Here is the operating motto of the Obama White House: 'So let it be written, so let it be done!' Like Yul Brynner's Pharaoh Ramses character in Cecil B. DeMille's 'The Ten Commandments,' the demander in chief stands with arms akimbo issuing daily edicts to his constitution-subverting minions. ~ Michelle Malkin
Pharaoh quotes by Michelle Malkin
There is no army, no fortress, no giant that can stand against our God. No one. I have seen with my own eyes. I have walked through the bottom of the sea. On dry ground. I have watched as he humiliated Egypt and brought the mighty Pharaoh low. ~ Connilyn Cossette
Pharaoh quotes by Connilyn Cossette
A priest, who came from a land far away and wed priestess Seshat, used powerful magic for Pharaoh Tutimaeus. With his invention of a horseless chariot and magic men who blew steam, the Egyptians defeated the Hyksos warriors." He felt his mouth quirk and a deep chuckle rolled from his belly. "Well, an Egyptian priest is a quite a step up from assistant to the conservator of the Louvre." - As Timeless As Stone ~ Maeve Alpin
Pharaoh quotes by Maeve Alpin
But if I endure in trouble, then Pharaoh and his troops are plunged into the deep, and the way out I have hoped for is opened to me. ~ Martin Luther
Pharaoh quotes by Martin Luther
Revolution does have to be violent precisely because the Pharaoh won't let you go. If the Pharaoh would let you go, the revolution won't have to be violent. ~ Michael Hardt
Pharaoh quotes by Michael Hardt
There are two reasons why the world is in a mess. One is because the world has rejected Christ. The other reason, is because the world will not necessarily listen to those who know God. This often means that Christians end up frustrated because they cannot impart some of the wisdom, God has provided them over the years, to others. Like Joseph, this is where we need to be patient. We cannot always cast our pearl before those who don't want to listen. Joseph was only able to operate in his gifts and abilities, simply because there was a discerning Pharaoh in the land at the time. We can only provide wisdom, when the person (or group) who need it, get desperate enough to listen. ~ Christopher Roberts
Pharaoh quotes by Christopher Roberts
So Musa was a simple god, a god of few words. His thick beard and strong arms made him seem like a giant who could have wrung the neck of any soldier in any ancient pharaoh's army. Which explains why, on the day when we learned of his death and the circumstances surrounding it, I didn't feel sad or angry at first; instead I felt disappointed and offended, as if someone had insulted me. My brother Musa was capable of parting the sea, and yet he died in insignificance, like a common bit player, on a beach that today has disappeared, close to the waves that should have made him famous forever. ~ Kamel Daoud
Pharaoh quotes by Kamel Daoud
When we meet someone with a deeper spiritual insight, we think God cares more for them than for us. Yet surely God has the right to make use of one of His creatures to give His other children the food they need. He had this right in the days of Pharaoh, for, in Holy Scripture, He told him: "And therefore have I raised thee, that I may show My power in thee, and My name may be spoken of throughout all the earth." Centuries have passed since He uttered these words and His ways have not changed: He has always used human beings to accomplish His work among souls. ~ John Beevers
Pharaoh quotes by John Beevers
the famine. GEN41.37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. GEN41.38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? GEN41.39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: GEN41.40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. GEN41.41 ~ Anonymous
Pharaoh quotes by Anonymous
Pain and guilt tore through him. His soul was bleeding to death. He stood there, waiting to die. How could he not? But such wounds were not fatal. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh Chephren (circa 2600 B.C., Fourth Dynasty), who built the second Giza pyramid. ~ Cheikh Anta Diop
Pharaoh quotes by Cheikh Anta Diop
The most well known theory concerning the whereabouts of the Ark, made famous by the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, places it in the ruins of the ancient city of Tanis in Egypt. This theory proposes that the Ark was plundered by the Egyptians shortly after Solomon's death. According to the Old Testament, the pharaoh Sheshonq I of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, raided the Temple, and plundered its treasures (1 Kgs 14:26). Sheshonq I established Tanis as the new Egyptian capital, and so it is here that Indiana Jones discovers the lost Ark in Steven Spielberg's movie. ~ Graham Phillips
Pharaoh quotes by Graham Phillips
She is an angel, how bad could it be?"
"Ask the first born of Israel when the Pharaoh pissed off Moses. Ask the salty residents of Sodom. Ask anyone who was not Noah or a fish once the Flood rolled in. ~ Thomm Quackenbush
Pharaoh quotes by Thomm Quackenbush
His ancestors had been keen on pyramids. The pharaoh wasn't. Pyramids had bankrupted the country, drained it drier than ever the river did. The only curse they could afford to put on a tomb these days was 'Bugger Off'. The ~ Terry Pratchett
Pharaoh quotes by Terry Pratchett
We should certainly know by now that it is one thing to overthrow a dictator or repel an invader and quite another thing really to achieve a revolution. Time and time and time again, the people discover that they have merely betrayed themselves into the hands of yet another Pharaoh who, since he was necessary to put the broken country together, will not let them go. ~ James Baldwin
Pharaoh quotes by James Baldwin
The prophet proclaims that God cannot be identified with the status quo - however shiny, powerful, immortal, or divine that status quo may appear. The principalities and powers will always seek to capture and enslave God in an attempt to use the name of God to underwrite current power arrangements. To go against the status quo, declare the powers, is to go against God. Religion in this instance becomes another fear-based cudgel, wielded to protect the interests of the principalities and powers and those who currently benefit from business as usual, thus aiding in their success and survival. Consequently, before proclamation to human captives can be made - freedom to those being oppressed by current power arrangements - the prophet must dare to proclaim that God is not the spokesperson for the status quo, but rather stands outside the system - free - to speak a word of judgment. When the freedom of God is proclaimed, when God is outside the system and free to bring a word of indictment against us, the capacity is created to speak on behalf of the marginalized and the disfranchised in the name of God. Being free, God can now be for the weak and the least of these over against those at the top of current power arrangements. This was the real shock at the heart of Moses's prophetic utterance to Pharaoh - that God was on the side of the slaves and stood with them over against the divinely ordained power and authority of Egypt. ~ Richard Beck
Pharaoh quotes by Richard Beck
[There is] a widespread approach to ideas which Objectivism repudiates altogether: agnosticism. I mean this term in a sense which applies to the question of God, but to many other issues also, such as extra-sensory perception or the claim that the stars influence man's destiny. In regard to all such claims, the agnostic is the type who says, "I can't prove these claims are true, but you can't prove they are false, so the only proper conclusion is: I don't know; no one knows; no one can know one way or the other."

The agnostic viewpoint poses as fair, impartial, and balanced. See how many fallacies you can find in it. Here are a few obvious ones: First, the agnostic allows the arbitrary into the realm of human cognition. He treats arbitrary claims as ideas proper to consider, discuss, evaluate - and then he regretfully says, "I don't know," instead of dismissing the arbitrary out of hand. Second, the onus-of-proof issue: the agnostic demands proof of a negative in a context where there is no evidence for the positive. "It's up to you," he says, "to prove that the fourth moon of Jupiter did not cause your sex life and that it was not a result of your previous incarnation as the Pharaoh of Egypt." Third, the agnostic says, "Maybe these things will one day be proved." In other words, he asserts possibilities or hypotheses with no jot of evidential basis.

The agnostic miscalculates. He thinks he is avoiding any position that will antagonize anybody. In fact, ~ Leonard Peikoff
Pharaoh quotes by Leonard Peikoff
Moses and Aaron were directed to visit the riverside next morning, where the king was accustomed to repair. The overflowing of the Nile being the source of food and wealth for all Egypt, the river was worshiped as a god, and the monarch came thither daily to pay his devotions. Here the two brothers again repeated the message to him, and then they stretched out the rod and smote upon the water. The sacred stream ran blood, the fish died, and the river became offensive to the smell. The water in the houses, the supply preserved in cisterns, was likewise changed to blood. But "the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments," and "Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also." For seven days the plague continued, but without effect. ~ Ellen G. White
Pharaoh quotes by Ellen G. White
Tuthmosis IV was, like his father Amenhotep II, a belligerent pharaoh and one of the first to wage war without provocation beyond Egypt's boundaries. As a result of his aggressive attacks slaves and foreign elements were common in Egypt. Consequently, there was more intermarriage during his reign than at other times. Egypt was visited by merchants and traders and was extremely prosperous and cosmopolitan during this period. ~ Michael Tsarion
Pharaoh quotes by Michael Tsarion
It could hardly be made since the pyramids, it is thought, were erected in the predynastic age under the regency of Pharaoh Cheops. This pharaoh, who was also known as Khufu, lived between 2589 and 2566 BC, or one thousand years before the Hyksos (Levites) were ever heard of. ~ Michael Tsarion
Pharaoh quotes by Michael Tsarion
Anyone who makes the life of Jewish people difficult or grievous, as did the Pharaoh, as did Hitler, will be cursed by God. ~ John Hagee
Pharaoh quotes by John Hagee
There were some days that deserved to be drowned at birth and everyone sent back to bed with a hot brandy, a box of chocolates and a warm, energetic companion. Today was without question one of those days. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Robert explained how much simpler it was to pay money for things than to exchange them as the people were doing in the market. Later on the soldier gave the coins to his captain, who, later still, showed them to Pharaoh, who of course kept them and was much struck with the idea. That was really how coins first came to be used in Egypt. You will not believe this, I daresay, but really, if you believe the rest of the story, I don't see why you shouldn't believe this as well. ~ E. Nesbit
Pharaoh quotes by E. Nesbit
When I wrote 'A Crown of Golden Leaves', based in ancient Rome, it was acceptable to talk about slaves fighting in the Colosseum. When I wrote 'The Fifth Bride of Pharaoh', based in Ancient Egypt it was acceptable to talk about slaves building the pyramids. But how dare I write a sentence about American Slavery?! Why are some forms of slavery acceptable to write about but not others? Who made these absurd rules and why should I have to abide by them? I refuse to omit an entire war from U.S. history just so childish people feel more comfortable. ~ Catalina DuBois
Pharaoh quotes by Catalina DuBois
I had known Mubarak and his wife, Suzanne, for nearly twenty years. He was a career Air Force officer who had risen through the ranks to become Vice President under Anwar Sadat, the Egyptian ruler who fought the Yom Kippur War with Israel in 1973 and later signed the Camp David Accords. Mubarak was injured in the extremist attack that assassinated Sadat in 1981, but he survived, became President, and cracked down hard on Islamists and other dissidents. He ruled Egypt like a pharaoh with nearly absolute power for the next three decades. ~ Hillary Rodham Clinton
Pharaoh quotes by Hillary Rodham Clinton
Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? ~ Moses
Pharaoh quotes by Moses
Pharaoh is not the highest god, and Moses will prove it to him. ~ Connilyn Cossette
Pharaoh quotes by Connilyn Cossette
Yeah, Horemheb, you are under my command once more. You might be the pharaoh, but I am Tutankhamun! - Tut Reborn by Cyci Cade ~ Cyci Cade
Pharaoh quotes by Cyci Cade
Sometimes you are garrulous, Taita.' Pharaoh was less than captivated by my lecture on the palace architecture. 'Get on ~ Wilbur Smith
Pharaoh quotes by Wilbur Smith
Seth stood about six feet eight inches tall with broad shoulders, a leanly muscled form, beautiful patrician features, and long wavy black hair (drawn back with a leather tie) that reached his waist. David stood about six feet seven inches with equally broad shoulders, a bit more muscle, the face of a pharaoh, flawless skin as dark as midnight, and pencil-thin dreadlocks that fell to his hips. ~ Dianne Duvall
Pharaoh quotes by Dianne Duvall
The Lord has saved Justice Scalia from the Jews who couldn't find a single leak into his sanity; while living in the house of Pharaoh, God drew him out of America as a witness. With all modesty and perseverance, he made it through while being humble, honoring to Moses and rejecting any talk of a legacy after him or on his behalf. ~ Ibrahim Ibrahim
Pharaoh quotes by Ibrahim Ibrahim
Listen!--- Listen!
All you sons of Pharaoh.
Who do you think can hold God's people
when the Lord God himself has said,
Let my people go? ~ James Weldon Johnson
Pharaoh quotes by James Weldon Johnson
In the Bible, we first encounter God when he sides with a bunch of slaves against a powerful Pharaoh, an act of grace freely given. ~ Desmond Tutu
Pharaoh quotes by Desmond Tutu
Her Shadowblade Prime was fully roused now, power rolling away from her in uncontrollable waves. Her Blades wouldn't be able to ignore it. She had to get to the vault before they came running to stop her like a horde of hysterical nannies. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
It's easy to shake our heads in disgust at Pharaoh or Herod or Planned Parenthood. ~ Russell D. Moore
Pharaoh quotes by Russell D. Moore
as the old pharaoh was laid to rest, allowing her brother to claim his place fully upon the Isis Throne. ~ Stephanie Thornton
Pharaoh quotes by Stephanie Thornton
The White House - now shares the same name as the new government center in Moscow. The name originally comes from Egypt. The White and Red Houses of the late first dynasty were departments that officiated for the will of pharaoh. The second most important state building in Egypt was the treasury. It was known as Per Hetch, meaning "White House." ~ Michael Tsarion
Pharaoh quotes by Michael Tsarion
No man has the right to rule over another man, otherwise such a right necessarily, and immediately becomes the right of the strongest. As the tiger in the jungle rules over the defenceless antelope, so on the banks of the Nile a Pharaoh ruled over the progenitors of the fellaheen of Egypt. Nor can a group of men, by contract, from their own right, compel you to obey a fellow-man. What binding force is there for me in the allegation that ages ago one of my progenitors made a 'Contrat Social,' with other men of that time? As man I stand free and bold, over against the most powerful of my fellow-men. I do not speak of the family, for here organic, natural ties rule; but in the sphere of the State I do not yield or bow down to anyone, who is man, as I am. ~ Abraham Kuyper
Pharaoh quotes by Abraham Kuyper
Pretty show, but you're wasting energy and time," Max said. "Mind if we get back to saving Horngate? You can go postal later. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Nearly everyone in ancient Egypt exhorted the gods to let the Pharaoh live 'forever. These collective prayers failed. Their failure constitutes data. ~ Carl Sagan
Pharaoh quotes by Carl Sagan
first mention of Israel, as a race, comes in the victory stele, or monument, of the Pharaoh Merneptah, dated 1207 BC. Recording an invasion of Canaan and the decimation of the tribes of that region, the inscription declares that 'Israel's seed is not', after his army had finished with them. The verse reads: The princes are prostrate, saying "Mercy!" Not one raises his head among the Nine Bows. Desolation is for Tehenu; Hatti is pacified; Plundered is Canaan with every evil; Carried off is Ashkelon; seized upon is Gezer; ~ Ian Carroll
Pharaoh quotes by Ian Carroll
You are very unexpected, do you know that?"
"Is that your way of calling me stupid?" she asked wryly.
"If the glove fits," he said. ~ Diana Pharaoh Francis
Pharaoh quotes by Diana Pharaoh Francis
RAMESSES II is one of the most well-known and widely written-about kings of ancient Egypt. A copy of his Treaty of Kadesh, written in cuneiform and discovered in the village of Hattusas, hangs in the United Nations building in New York as the world's earliest example of an international peace treaty. It is also believed that Ramesses is the Pharaoh responsible ~ Michelle Moran
Pharaoh quotes by Michelle Moran
God is God of history and of nations. Also of nature. Originally Yahweh was probably a volcanic deity. But he periodically enters history, the best example being when he intervened to bring the Hebrew slaves out of Egypt and to the Promised Land.
They were shepherds and accustomed to freedom; it was terrible for them to be making bricks. And the Pharaoh had them gathering the straw as well and still being required to meet their quota of bricks per day. It is an archetypal timeless situation. God bringing men out of slavery and into freedom. Pharaoh represents all tyrants at all times. Her voice was calm and reasonable; Asher felt impressed. ~ Philip K. Dick
Pharaoh quotes by Philip K. Dick
In fact, the Qur'an relates the incident of Prophet Musa
(as) and Pharaoh to show that some people who support
atheistic philosophies actually influence others by magic.
When Pharaoh was told about the true religion, he told
Prophet Musa (as) to meet with his own magicians. When
Musa (as) did so, he told them to demonstrate their abilities
first. The verses continue:
He said: "You throw." And when they threw, they cast
a spell on the people's eyes and caused them to feel
great fear of them. They produced an extremely powerful
magic. (Surat al-A'raf, 116) ~ Harun Yahya
Pharaoh quotes by Harun Yahya
I have nothing but respect for the purist who won't work for the pharaoh. But I'm not that strong. ~ George Meyer
Pharaoh quotes by George Meyer
For now that it was gone, it all seemed Far stranger: more fantastical than Pharaoh. And he was changed: a foreigner among them. ~ Seamus Heaney
Pharaoh quotes by Seamus Heaney
You have to remember, you are in a controlled environment. It may seem that your circumstances are out of control, but the Creator of the universe is in complete control. He has you in the palm of His hand. Nothing can happen to you without God's permission.
In fact, God is even in control of our enemies. The Scripture talks about how God caused Pharaoh to harden his heart and not let the people go. Notice that God caused him to be difficult. Why was that? So God could show His power in extraordinary ways.
When something unexpected happens and catches you off-guard, instead of falling apart and blaming God and panicking, your attitude should be: God, I know You are still on the throne. This is not a surprise to You. I know You wouldn't have allowed this unless You had a purpose. The surprise may look like a setback, but I know the truth. It's a setup for You to show Your power in a greater way. It's a setup for You to show my unbelieving co-workers Your greatness.
God's purpose in crises is to show not just His power but to show other people what He can do. If you will view that adversity as an opportunity for God to display His greatness, God will use you as an example. He wants your neighbors to say, "How in the world did she make it? The medical report said 'impossible,' but look at her today. She's as strong and healthy as can be." Or, "He was laid off at the worst possible time, but look at him now. He has an even better job than before."
God wants to ~ Joel Osteen
Pharaoh quotes by Joel Osteen
But now, at the table, behind the fall of the tablecloth, behind the sheath of skin, hanging head downwards between cliffs of bone, was the baby, its arms all but clasped about its neck, its face aslant upon its arms, hair painted upon its skull, closed, secret eyes, a diver poised in albumen, ancient and epic, shot with delicate spasms, as old as Pharaoh in its tomb. ~ Enid Bagnold
Pharaoh quotes by Enid Bagnold
If something

goes wrong, accuse yourself first. Don't be like Pharaoh chopping off the heads

of innocent babies, when the enemy he is looking for, Moses, was in his own house. ~ Jalaluddin Rumi
Pharaoh quotes by Jalaluddin Rumi
The first help to prayer is our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, 1 John 2:2. He is pleading our cause before God, when we are hardly able to express what we want; who is therefore called the Word of the Father, because God, by him, has discovered his will to us; as he is also called 'the Mediator,' because he solicits our cause before God. When Moses complained that he was of slow speech, and a slow tongue, that so he might avoid carrying the commanded message to Pharaoh, God tells him, 'Aaron thy brother can speak well, he shall be to thee instead of a mouth.' Se we also, when we shall pray, are dull, and slow of speech, and therefore must fly to Christ, our heavenly Aaron, who is to us instead of a mouth. Therefore Christ commands us to pray in his name, who is our eternal High-priest, 'having an everlasting priesthood,' (Heb. 7:24,) 'interceding for us,' (Rom. 8:34,) 'in whom we have boldness,' and access with confidence by the faith of him,' Eph. 3:12. ~ Johann Arndt
