Our differences will also show up from time to time, underscoring the uniqueness of our personal endowments, the variety of our experiences, and the creativity of our sovereign God. ~ J. Grant Howard
Personal Endowments quotes by J. Grant Howard
I've considered everything you said earlier. I've made a decision. But first I'd like to explain that it has nothing to do with your personal endowments, which are quite considerable. It's just that - "
"My personal endowments?"
"Yes. Your intelligence. Your attractiveness."
"Oh."
Wondering why his voice sounded odd, Amelia darted a questioning glance at him. The amber eyes were bright with laughter. What had she said to amuse him? "Are you paying attention?"
"Believe me, when my personal endowments are being discussed, I always pay attention. Go on. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Personal Endowments quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Cam reached for her left hand. Taking the signet ring between his fingers, he drew it off easily and gave it to her. "Here. Although I'd rather you left it on."
Amelia's mouth fell open. She examined her hand, then the ring, and hesitantly pushed it back on the same finger. It slid over her knuckle and back again with ease. "How did you do that?"
"I helped you to relax." He ran a coaxing hand along her spine. "Put it back on, Amelia."
"I can't. That would mean I've accepted your proposal, and I haven't."
Stretching like a cat, Cam rolled her flat again, his weight partially supported on his elbows. Amelia drew in a quick breath as she felt him still firm within her. "You can't lie with me twice and then refuse to marry me." Cam lowered his head to kiss her ear. "I'll be ruined." He worked his way to the soft place behind her earlobe. "And I'll feel so cheap."
Despite the seriousness of the matter, Amelia had to bite back a smile. "I'm doing you a great favor by refusing you. You'll thank me for it someday."
"I'll thank you right now if you'll put the damned ring back on."
She shook her head.
Cam pushed a bit farther inside her, making her gasp. "What about my personal endowments? Who's going to take care of them?"
"You can take care of them" - she squirmed to the side to set the ring on the bedside table - " all by yourself."
Cam moved with her obligingly. "It's much more satisfying when you're involved."
As h ~ Lisa Kleypas
Personal Endowments quotes by Lisa Kleypas
Since the time of Voltaire and two-chamber Government, which is at bottom simply distrust and personal self-examination, and gives the popular mind that bad habit of being suspicious, the Church of France seems to have realised that books are its real enemies. ~ Stendhal
Personal Endowments quotes by Stendhal
We've patented the idea ... of using the address book as a place to declare that you like a brand. By so doing, the brand has now got your permission to send you personal messages - it could be money off offers, coupons, promotions, just information, whatever is appropriate. ~ Keith Teare
Personal Endowments quotes by Keith Teare
I was generally busy from 7 A.M. until midnight. I never had time to sit and think. As I worked, physical and mental fatigue set in and I was unable to operate to the maximum of my intellectual ability. But in a single cell in prison, I had time to think. I had a clear view of my past and present, and I found that my past left much to be desired, both in regard to my relations with other humans and in developing personal worth. ~ Nelson Mandela
Personal Endowments quotes by Nelson Mandela
It's always good to bat at the top, where you get more opportunities, but sometimes crucial 30s and 40s can be very helpful for the team. Ultimately it is a team sport. Personal records don't matter much if your team ends up on the losing side. ~ Suresh Raina
Personal Endowments quotes by Suresh Raina
I think biography can be more personal than fiction, and certainly can be more expressive. ~ Peter Ackroyd
Personal Endowments quotes by Peter Ackroyd
There's no release, just gurus and self- appointed gods and hucksters. the more people say, the less there is to say. ~ Charles Bukowski
Personal Endowments quotes by Charles Bukowski
Love: always inclusive, never divisive ~ Renae A. Sauter
Personal Endowments quotes by Renae A. Sauter
Satire is a form of social control, it's what you do. It's not personal. It's a job. ~ Garry Trudeau
Personal Endowments quotes by Garry Trudeau
Instead of me keeping my art a personal thing, we can use it to save lives, change lives and inspire. ~ Swizz Beatz
Personal Endowments quotes by Swizz Beatz
For the multiculturist/diversity crowd, culture, ideas, customs, arts and skills are a matter of racial membership where one has no more control over his culture than his race. That's a racist idea, but it's politically correct racism. It says that one's convictions, character and values are not determined by personal judgment and choices but genetically determined. In other words, as yesteryear's racists held: race determines identity. ~ Walter E. Williams
Personal Endowments quotes by Walter E. Williams
If money could motivate the merchants of England to cross death-defying oceans and enter the interior of China at great personal risk of the loss of life, could not the love of Christ motivate the missionaries to do the same for the sake of the gospel? ~ Alexander Strauch
Personal Endowments quotes by Alexander Strauch
Why sing music that you get to choose that isn't personal to you? That is the great thing about what I do. ~ Karen Mason
Personal Endowments quotes by Karen Mason
Each individual work serves as an expression of our most personal state of mind at that particular moment and of the inescapable, imperative need for release by means of an appropriate act of creation: in the rhythm, form, colour and mood of a picture. ~ Lyonel Feininger
Personal Endowments quotes by Lyonel Feininger
People often view racism as social division based on race; that is, racism occurs when people align and separate themselves based on their affinity for people of the same race and their hostility toward people of other races. A popular way to put this has been to define racism as "prejudice plus power," that is, it is having the personal power to act on one's feelings about racial difference. This understanding reduces racism to the level of affect and interpersonal relationships: racism occurs because of how we as individuals feel about other ethnic groups; reconciliation occurs when we eliminate our negative feelings about other racial groups and establish relationships across race.

But racism is not about our feelings. Nor is it about the attitudes, intentions, or behavior of individuals. Racism is an interlocking system of oppression that is designed to promote and maintain White supremacy, the notion that White people - including their bodies, aesthetics, beliefs, values, customs, and culture - are inherently superior to all other races and therefore should wield dominion over the rest of creation, including other people groups, the animal kingdom, and the earth itself. ~ Chanequa Walker-Barnes
Personal Endowments quotes by Chanequa Walker-Barnes
Many have argued with me that ambition is not the problem. Women are not less ambitious than men, they insist, but more enlightened with different and more meaningful goals. I do not dismiss or dispute this argument. There is far more to life than climbing a career ladder, including raising children, seeking personal fulfillment, contributing to society, and improving the lives of others. And there are many people who are deeply committed to their jobs but do not - and should not have to - aspire to run their organizations. Leadership roles are not the only way to have profound impact. ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Personal Endowments quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
A leader is one who chooses the interest of his followers over his personal ignominy. He can beg, steal and even snatch for the followers. He suffers individual loss for the sake of the gain of his followers. That makes him a leader whom people follow because they themselves do not have the courage to do so. People do not mind if someone else does all the dirty jobs for them while they can enjoy the fruits without getting their own hands dirty. ~ Awdhesh Singh
Personal Endowments quotes by Awdhesh Singh
It's something that exists on a daily basis on practically every street in India. You have people who are Hindus, Muslims, Christians - not just Catholics, but Protestants, you name it, all kinds of Christians - a hundred other religions, living side by side. And the kind of personal religion that people end up practicing is a bizarre concoction of ritual drawn from each other. So everybody ends up celebrating everyone else's festivals. ~ Anita Rau Badami
Personal Endowments quotes by Anita Rau Badami
Once you become dedicated to a cause, personal security is not the goal. What will happen to you personally does not matter. My cause, my race, is worth dying for. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Personal Endowments quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
The worst of all was to be faced with the interrogation technique of Thirty Seconds. The interrogator would say something and you had to respond quickly, without once repeating yourself or using the personal pronoun. Very few dissidents could last the full thirty seconds, and a refusal to comply was taken as equal proof of dissidence. ~ H.M. Forester
Personal Endowments quotes by H.M. Forester
While engaged in automatic writing I strain to create a protective personal haven, ferret out a padded cell where I can rapturously hold court with the voltaic cells of the self. I labor in solitary, transfixed in a suspended state of consciousness. Freewheeling writing creates a bridgeworks to the situs where hidden gems of insight and candid genuineness wait to be unsheathed by the penetrating beam of a reflective mind trolling for inspirational insight. Probing putative desires while contemporaneously fencing with a barrage of suppressed insecurities, requires piercing protective layers of denial and traveling with teratological demons to confront the monstrous self-destructive gene lodged in the deepest recesses of a confused psyche. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Personal Endowments quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
Lance Armstrong pushes the envelope in terms of the human experience. You can have a personal best, you can push your own envelope. For Lance, the person pushing him is him. The only person he's competing with, I think, is himself. To push that limit to the next step. There's a lot to learn from him. Lots. ~ Robin Williams
Personal Endowments quotes by Robin Williams
If you want to explore a political idea in the highest possible way, you embody it in the personal, because that's something that no one can deny. ~ George Saunders
Personal Endowments quotes by George Saunders
What is your personal definition of "good"?
A world in which everyone is universally empathetic and exercises love and respect with full change-making power. ~ Bill Drayton
Personal Endowments quotes by Bill Drayton
The ability to grow is directly related to the amount of insecurity you can take in your life. ~ Bruce Jenner
Personal Endowments quotes by Bruce Jenner
A woman at a certain age who is unmarried, our society teaches her to see it as a deep personal failure. And a man, after a certain age isn't married, we just think he hasn't come around to making his pick. ~ Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Personal Endowments quotes by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
This is the day that can change everything for you. ~ Michael Hyatt
Personal Endowments quotes by Michael Hyatt
Beauty without grace is the hook without the bait. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Personal Endowments quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yes, we have the freedom to do what we please, but it only works because we don't do everything we might please - we should exercise some degree of personal, and corporate, responsibility. ~ Tammy Bruce
Personal Endowments quotes by Tammy Bruce
A new time is coming both for my personal life, and the brand Ann Demeulemeester. I feel it's time to separate our paths ~ Ann Demeulemeester
Personal Endowments quotes by Ann Demeulemeester
The kind of life I want is to be a person who would get a personal note every day. ~ Sara Zarr
Personal Endowments quotes by Sara Zarr
And I see you have not resisted their lure either." He motioned toward her books. "Might I look at your selections?" She hesitated and clutched her books closer out of habit. She had often felt that the books one read were a peek into the soul of the reader. That was why her personal library was kept in a locked room very separate from the places where her visitors went for her wild parties. Sharing these selections with Benedict felt so very intimate. ~ Jess Michaels
Personal Endowments quotes by Jess Michaels
Although personal calling I sense,
Who am I? even if I am,
I don't know. ~ Dejan Stojanovic
Personal Endowments quotes by Dejan Stojanovic
A vast amount of psychiatric effort has been, and continues to be, devoted to legal and quasi-legal activities. In my opinion, the only certain result has been the aggrandizement of psychiatry. The value to the legal profession and to society as a whole of psychiatric help in administering the criminal law, is, to say the least, uncertain. Perhaps society has been injured, rather than helped, by the furor psychodiagnosticus and psychotherapeuticus in criminology which it invited, fostered, and tolerated. ~ Thomas Szasz
Personal Endowments quotes by Thomas Szasz
heredity, but personal response is the final determining factor in our lives. And herein lies our area ~ Ben Carson
Personal Endowments quotes by Ben Carson
Suppressed I Rise is for anyone interested in a very personal, human view of the history of World War II. A mother's attempt to protect and raise her two young daughters in hostile NAZI Germany challenges her sensibilities and resourcefulness. ~ Hank Bracker
Personal Endowments quotes by Hank Bracker
It's okay to have personal ambitions, but you have to take someone with you. ~ Roger Staubach
Personal Endowments quotes by Roger Staubach
Many people in recovery find that they feel spiritually grounded when in regular contact with the great outdoors. Others feel a deep serenity after lighting a candle in a church or temple or by chanting a sacred mantra. The point is that, unlike a typical religion that lays out a non-negotiable ideology, spirituality is expansive and deeply personal. ~ Christopher Dines
Personal Endowments quotes by Christopher Dines
I'm all about entertaining and keeping a reader on the edge of their seat, so to me, the social issues have to be meaningful and give the book what's really 'at stake,' but ultimately it's not about them - it's always a personal story of everyday people thrust into life-threatening situations and having to perform heroic acts. ~ Andrew Gross
Personal Endowments quotes by Andrew Gross
If you are going to find work worth doing - a vocation to fulfill and challenge you - you will have to encounter a reality bigger than yourself. It may not be what others say it should be or what you think, but it will come if you are looking for it ... At times, the work you're called to do will be hard and confusing, but if you press in, you will see the purpose behind the pain. You will see how the whole experience is causing you to grow. And you will thank God for the whole journey. ~ Jeff Goins
Personal Endowments quotes by Jeff Goins
He gained height, grew thin, the hair on his temples had begun to grey, but, now as then, he had none of that useful sense of proportion, nor could he ever develop anything of the sort, which might have helped him distinguish between the continuous flux of the universe of which he constituted a part (though a necessarily fleeting part) and the passage of time, the perception of which might have led to an intuitive and wise acceptance of fate. Despite vain efforts to understand and experience what precisely his 'dear friends' wanted from each other, he confronted the slow tide of human affairs with a sad incomprehension, dispassionately and without any sense of personal involvement, for the greater part of his consciousness, the part entirely given over to wonder, had left no room for more mundane matters, and (to his mother's inordinate shame and the extreme amusement of the locals) had ever since then trapped him in a bubble of time, in one eternal, impenetrable and transparent moment. He walked, he trudged, he flitted - as his great friend once said, not entirely without point - 'blindly and tirelessly... with the incurable beauty of his personal cosmos' in his soul [...] ~ Laszlo Krasznahorkai
Personal Endowments quotes by Laszlo Krasznahorkai
The great ones do not set up offices, charge fees, give lectures, or write books. Wisdom is silent, and the most effective propaganda for truth is the force of personal example. The great ones attract disciples, lesser figures whose mission is to preach and to teach. These are gospelers who, unequal to the highest task, spend their lives in converting others. The great ones are indifferent, in the profoundest sense. They don't ask you to believe: they electrify you by their behavior. They are the awakeners. What you do with your petty life is of no concern to them. What you do with your life is only of concern to you, they seem to say. In short, their only purpose here on earth is to inspire. And what more can one ask of a human being than that? ~ Henry Miller
