A lot of times I play the villain or the comic relief, and I get to kind of play the comic relief to a degree, which is fun, but I also get to say, "You are created in the image in God. You are a perfect child of God. And this part of you is the heart of who you are. You're not alone, and you're okay just the way you are." ~ Missi Pyle
Perfect Child quotes by Missi Pyle
When you have a child, you start to dream of how this kid will grow up and make you proud. The only thing you can predict with 100% certainty is that the reality will diverge somehow from that dream. Some of our children will disappoint us by not being the scholars we hoped they would be. Some children will disappoint us by not being the athletes we hoped they would be. Some will disappoint us by coming out and telling us they are gay and they won't give us grandchildren ... the real question is not, what book can I read, what technique can I use to raise a perfect child? The real question is how will you handle that gap between the child you dreamt of having and the real child growing up in your home ... What I have learned is that any religion, if you do it wrong, will leave people feeling condemned and dismissed and unworthy and any religion, if you do it right, will leave people feeling cleansed and firmed. (118) Rabbi Harold Kushner ~ Carol Lynn Pearson
Perfect Child quotes by Carol Lynn Pearson
He was not a perfect child, by any means, but his faults were of the better sort; and being early taught the secret of self-control, he was not left at the mercy of appetites and passions, as some poor little mortals are, and then punished for yielding to the temptations against which they have no armor. ~ Louisa May Alcott
Perfect Child quotes by Louisa May Alcott
The white moon above the clearing coldly illuminates the still tableaux of our embracements. How sweet I roamed, or, rather, used to roam; once I was the perfect child of the meadows of summer, but then the year turned, the light clarified and I saw the gaunt Erl-King, tall as a tree with birds in its branches, and he drew me towards him on his magic lasso of inhuman music. ~ Anonymous
Perfect Child quotes by Anonymous
Listen to me, Dad. When Dylan's first cornea went bad, I grieved for the perfect child he should have been. I told myself that the diagnosis was wrong. I bargained with God - you know, make his eyes right and I'll do anything. When that didn't work I was absolutely furious that my child had to face this. In the end I had no choice. I had to accept it, because that was the only way I could help Dylan." She straightened. "Grieving is a process. Anger is part of it." She paused. "Right now, you're angry that Mom left you alone. But you're taking it out on Jill and me, and we both need you. You can drink all you want - ~ Barbara Delinsky
Perfect Child quotes by Barbara Delinsky
There are cases that I just can't forget.....What it is. I don't know. I think it's the ones where something small changes everything. Where the tiniest act , the smallest space of time, the most inconsequential of decisions, changes a life. A split second separates the long-lost friends who either see or miss each other at an airport. And from that , a relationship does or does not develop, perhaps a lifetime partnership,, perhaps even children. Human beings who might or might not have existed. Whole lives built out of the most fragile of happenstance.
And maybe that's why our lives are beautiful; why they're tragic. One perfect child can be born of an accidental encounter, and another lost to a split-second lapse in attention. If a motorist leans over to change a radio station at the same moment that it first occurs to a four year old that he can let go of his mother's hand as easily as hang onto it, and that if he lets go he will be across the road first, before his mother, and that she will certainly laugh and say, "How fast you are, Johnny!" If the child does this and the motorist does that , and if the world then changes forever and unbearably for everyone involved, then is that not life in its simplest form?
That so little matters so much, and so much matters so little. ~ Laura McBride
Perfect Child quotes by Laura McBride
My kids are supposed to live till they are one hundred. You don't have to have a perfect house or a perfect relationship with your child or a perfect child, and you yourself do not have to be perfect. ~ Anne Enright
Perfect Child quotes by Anne Enright
As soon as Nicholas was born, my mother swore she'd rather see her daughters become Jehovah's Witnesses or pole dancers before she saw her first grandchild in daycare when my sister went back to work. I don't think it was originally the idea of daycare that didn't sit well with her but the fact that there, in a bassinet, was a fresh slate, a lump of clay that could be worked on and molded into the perfect child who had eluded her the first time around with her own daughters. ~ Laurie Notaro
Perfect Child quotes by Laurie Notaro
...man can survive ...he can kill and be twisted and broken and desperate and insane and fuck barnyard pets in the dark and wear a dress if he chooses, and hate and destroy everything that's beautiful, and wish for death for himself and others with every breath, and still be a perfect child of God. ~ Dan Fante
Perfect Child quotes by Dan Fante
This book is not for parents who want to raise a perfect child. You can probably make that kind of kid, but I don't think you should. I've met more than my share of young prodigies - kids who were pushed to skip grades, memorize Latin names for every insect, and greet all adults with firm handshakes. They're weird, and not in a good way, like a corgi wearing a tuxedo: sure it's cute, but does it truly know joy? ~ Brett Berk
Perfect Child quotes by Brett Berk
Trying to do it all and expecting it all can be done exactly right is a recipe for disappointment. Perfection is the enemy. Gloria Steinem said it best: 'You can't do it all. No one can have two full-time jobs, have perfect children and cook three meals and be multi-orgasmic 'til dawn ... Superwoman is the adversary of the women's movement.' ~ Sheryl Sandberg
Perfect Child quotes by Sheryl Sandberg
The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope that humanity can develop in a new direction. ~ Maria Montessori
Perfect Child quotes by Maria Montessori
I love these little people; and it is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us. ~ Charles Dickens
Perfect Child quotes by Charles Dickens
Mind control survivors have identified doctors used by the CIA under Project MKULTRA as having used different aliases. I have personally spoken and corresponded with many of these child Cold War survivors. It seems colors were one of the most commonly used themes. Many survivors have identified Josef Mengele as using the aliases Dr. Green, Dr. Black, Dr. Swartz (black in German), Father Joseph, or Vaterchen (daddy) when he did their programming. The experiments and programming he used on us were of such a heinous nature, that they were not unlike some of those performed at Auschwitz.

In 1937, Mengele was appointed research assistant at the Third Reich Institute for Heredity, Biology, and Racial Purity. Mengele provided "experimental materials" to the Kaiser-Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology from twins including eyes, blood, and other body parts from Auschwitz. Mengele fled Auschwitz in January 1945 before the Russians liberated the camp. French government documents state that the Americans captured Mengele in 1946. According to the French, Mengele "was released without explanation by the Americans on November 19, 1946." The French claimed that American authorities confirmed the Mengele arrest and release on Feb. 29, 1947. ~ Carol Rutz
Perfect Child quotes by Carol Rutz
There is no better recreation for the mind than the study of the ancient classics. Take any one of them into your hand, be it only for half an hour, and you will feel yourself refreshed, relieved, purified, ennobled, strengthened; just as if you had quenched your thirst at some pure spring. Is this the effect of the old language and its perfect expression, or is it the greatness of the minds whose works remain unharmed and unweakened by the lapse of a thousand years? Perhaps both together. But this I know. If the threatened calamity should ever come, and the ancient languages cease to be taught, a new literature shall arise, of such barbarous, shallow and worthless stuff as never was seen before. ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
Perfect Child quotes by Arthur Schopenhauer
In a perfect world, you and I probably wouldn't exist, so let's not hope for one. ~ Ze Frank
Perfect Child quotes by Ze Frank
Never tell a child 'you have a soul.' Teach him, you are a soul; you have a body. ~ George MacDonald
Perfect Child quotes by George MacDonald
You have the right to set ground rules. This means deciding if, when, and how you want to see the people in your family. Many survivors feel that if they open up the channels at all, they have to open them up all the way. When you were a child you had two options - to trust or not to trust. Your options are broader now. ~ Ellen Bass
Perfect Child quotes by Ellen Bass
Time is the best author. It always writes the perfect ending. ~ Charlie Chaplin
Perfect Child quotes by Charlie Chaplin
If it's all the same to you, I'm not really great with the knives," I told her. "Is there anything else I can do? Anything less ... deadly?"
Shaking a pillow into its case, Aislinn shrugged and said, "You can go up to the War Room an check our files on Hecate Hall and the Casnoffs. See if there's any information we have wrong, or details you can add."
Ah, yes. Files. Books. Nothing with sharp edges. Perfect. ~ Rachel Hawkins
Perfect Child quotes by Rachel Hawkins
The Dalai Lama teaches that the self lies somewhere beyond our bodies and our minds. He preaches that human nature is essentially good. Only the affection of a mother allows a child to survive. Only the baby's affection for his mother drives him to feed from her breast. This shows, the Dalai Lama explains, that we are born into compassion and sustained by it. So our essential nature is compassionate. ~ Lynn M. Hamilton
Perfect Child quotes by Lynn M. Hamilton
In Zen we strive to bring both the mind and the body into perfect combination, so that there is no intrinsic difference between them. ~ Frederick Lenz
Perfect Child quotes by Frederick Lenz
No one owns you - no matter what the relationship. You are not here on this earth to fulfill the dreams, wants or wishes of a parent, a mate or a child. You are also not responsible to protect any other person from facing their own consequences or realities. You are here to exist, to develop and to grow and be responsible to and for yourself. In the bigger picture of things, it would be well if you also contributed to making this world a better place to be because you passed through it. ~ Sharon Wegscheider-Cruse
Perfect Child quotes by Sharon Wegscheider-Cruse
Perfect, just what I need this morning, another episode in battle of the wits. ~ Sonya Bria
Perfect Child quotes by Sonya Bria
I don't like narrowing my readers down - there's not a particular age or gender or nationality. I suppose I'm aiming at the child I was. ~ Anthony Browne
Perfect Child quotes by Anthony Browne
The best part of being a little child is having a long blank page ahead that he can fill it with almost everything! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Perfect Child quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Forget perfect. Be quick. Quickness kills. ~ Ehab Atalla
Perfect Child quotes by Ehab Atalla
Make it a rule never to give a child a book you would not read yourself. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Perfect Child quotes by George Bernard Shaw
Whenever the child is given the notion that he needs to be entertained, learning comes almost to a halt. ~ Polly Berrien Berends
Perfect Child quotes by Polly Berrien Berends
[The incestuous father...] may be unconsciously seeking revenge against either his wife or his mother for what he considers a variety of emotional crimes against him. ~ Susan Forward
Perfect Child quotes by Susan Forward
The world is not religious because religion is imposed upon us. The parents are in a hurry to impose; the church, the state, the country - everybody is in a hurry to impose a certain religion on the child. How foolish! How stupid! Religion needs maturity, great understanding, before one can choose. ~ Rajneesh
Perfect Child quotes by Rajneesh
A refugee is as helpless as a new born child - but not so appealing! Besides, a new born child has no memories! ~ Phyllis Bottome
Perfect Child quotes by Phyllis Bottome
It's a perfect day for letting go. ~ Robert Smith
Perfect Child quotes by Robert Smith
And I had the feeling he was far out ahead of me then and in many things. Any time spent with your child is partly a damn sad time, the sadness of life a-going, bright, vivid, each time a last. A loss. A glimpse into what could've been. It can be corrupting. I ~ Richard Ford
Perfect Child quotes by Richard Ford
What you seek you shall never find.
For when the Gods made man,
They kept immortality to themselves.
Fill your belly.
Day and night make merry.
Let Days be full of joy.
Love the child who holds your hand.
Let your wife delight in your embrace.
For these alone are the concerns of man. ~ The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Perfect Child quotes by The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Maybe there aren't any happily ever afters, or white knights who ride in on valiant steeds to save the day. Maybe, in real life, Prince Charming isn't always perfect – he's just as flawed as everyone else in the tale. And that princess, alone in her tower? She's not perfect either. Birds don't braid her hair every morning, she can't serenade wild forest creatures into servitude, and she doesn't even own a ball gown. But she's also smart enough to know not to accept poisoned apples from strangers, or prick her finger on deadly spindles.

She doesn't wait around for a prince to charge in and slay the dragon. Maybe she saves herself and in the end, rides off into her own goddamned sunset. ~ Julie Johnson
Perfect Child quotes by Julie Johnson
I just wasn't one of those girls who dreamt of her wedding day and the birth of her first child. ~ Sarah Jessica Parker
Perfect Child quotes by Sarah Jessica Parker
I made a discovery. It was cold enough to make my eyes water, and I found out that If I kept them almost closed, the moisture diffused the lights, so that everything - the Moon, the stars, the street lamp - seemed to have halos and points of scattered light around it. The snow-banks seemed to glitter like a sea of spun sugar, and all the stars were woven together by a lace of incandescence, so that I was walking through a Universe so wild, so wonderful that my heart nearly broke with its beauty.

"For years, I carried that time and place in mind. It's still there. But the thing is, the Universe didn't make it. I did. I saw it, but I saw it because I made myself see it. I took the stars, which are distant suns, and the night, which is the Earth's shadow, and the snow, which is water undergoing a state-change, and I took the tears in my eyes, and I made a wonderland. No one else has ever been able to see it. No one else has ever been able to go there. Not even I can ever return to it physically, it lies thirty-eight years in the past, in the eye-level perspective of a child, its stereoscopic accuracy based on the separation between the eyes of a child. In only one place does it actually exist. In my mind Elizabeth - in my life.

"But I will die, and where will it be, then?"

Elizabeth looked up at him. "In mind mind a little? Along with the rest of you?"

Hawks looked at her. He reached out and, bending forward as tenderly as a child rece ~ Algis Budrys
Perfect Child quotes by Algis Budrys
The two most challenging tasks a man can face in life is education of the heart and education of the child-every other task he contemplates in life before him pales in comparison to those two. On this path of absolute uncertainty, the descending heart will permiate the education of the mind ... An initiation rite for young heart. An initiation rite for young men. ~ Adam Kovacevic
Perfect Child quotes by Adam Kovacevic
Whatever happens I have had these blissful, perfect moments and they are worth living for. ~ Katherine Mansfield
Perfect Child quotes by Katherine Mansfield
John Kerry made a joke about Bush being a moron, and now Bush wants morons to think it was a joke was about the troops ... Now, John Kerry has apologized. He said he made a botched joke and admitted that he has a joking problem. He has checked into an improv group and revealed that as a child, he was molested by a clown. ~ Bill Maher
Perfect Child quotes by Bill Maher
They embraced for a long time, a kind of physical contact seldom seen in public, maybe seen only between parents and their very young children, an intimacy confident of absolute possession... [h]ow quickly those embraces would pass. They would take on different meanings as the child grew older, they would become impermissible; the same touch that here warmed our hearts would just in a few years elicit our disapproval, our concern, finally our scorn. And so it is, I thought then, as the man and child released each other and moved away from the water, so it is that at the very moment we come into full consciousness of ourselves what we experience is leave-taking and a loss we seek the rest of our lives to restore. ~ Garth Greenwell
Perfect Child quotes by Garth Greenwell
Once this kid came into the world, Sally knew, she would live in constant terror of somehow injuring or losing her. Having her tucked deep inside her belly was the safest she would ever feel about the child, and even that was scary. ~ J. Courtney Sullivan
Perfect Child quotes by J. Courtney Sullivan
When I write stories I am like someone who is in her own country, walking along streets that she has known since she was a child, between walls and trees that are hers. ~ Natalia Ginzburg
Perfect Child quotes by Natalia Ginzburg
The child must be given activities that encourage independence, and he must not be served by others in acts he can learn to perform himself. ~ Paula Polk Lillard
Perfect Child quotes by Paula Polk Lillard
Why are the photographs of him as a little boy so incredibly hard to look at? Something is over. Now instead of those shiny moments being things we can share together in delighted memories, I, the survivor, have to bear them alone. So it is with all the memories of him. They all lead into blackness. All I can do is remember him, I cannot experience him. Nothing new can happen between us. ~ Nicholas Wolterstorff
Perfect Child quotes by Nicholas Wolterstorff
Because I didn't have to be perfect with him," Gia says after some thought. "Because I didn't have to always be in control. ~ Sejal Badani
Perfect Child quotes by Sejal Badani
Mitochondrial DNA, which is a sort of abridged version of DNA, is passed directly from mother to child, so it's something that can be looked at to trace matrilineal descent. ~ Elizabeth Kolbert
Perfect Child quotes by Elizabeth Kolbert
If you want to have friends, you have to remember that nobody's perfect. ~ Jonathan Franzen
Perfect Child quotes by Jonathan Franzen
Our emotions are different but we have them. We never cast a cold eye on life or death. Don't misunderstand our seeming serenity. After all, we live in a world of perfect trust in The Maker, and we are keenly aware that humans often do not, and we feel an active sorrow for them. ~ Anne Rice
Perfect Child quotes by Anne Rice
When life tends to get too complex, too fast, too cluttered, too deadline oriented, or too type A for you, stop and remember your own spirit. You're headed for inspiration, a simple, peaceful place where you're in harmony with the perfect timing of all creation. ~ Wayne Dyer
Perfect Child quotes by Wayne Dyer
These funerals always appear to me the more indecent in a populous city, from the total indifference of the beholders, and the perfect unconcern with which they are beheld. ~ Karl Philipp Moritz
Perfect Child quotes by Karl Philipp Moritz
There is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip. It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman's whole look. ~ Tom Ford
Perfect Child quotes by Tom Ford
A child may have too much of his mother's blessing. ~ John Ray
Perfect Child quotes by John Ray
You are a creature meant to be free. Almost always, the person hardest to tell the truth to ... is you. Once you can be honest with yourself, you'll find the strength and desire to be honest with others. It's the most freeing feeling imaginable. Go find a mirror and face yourself and your darkest truths. You have the light within you to chase away the dark demons that hold you down and push you back into the black corners of your past. You deserve better. You are a child of light and light hidden behind dark clouds, does nothing to brighten the world. ~ Toni Sorenson
Perfect Child quotes by Toni Sorenson
Everyone has been overjoyed with the birth of their first son, bringing celebratory sweets, new clothes for the baby, fennel tea to bolster her milk supply. They have showered on her all the traditional gifts, as if this is her first baby, their first child. What about the other times I've carried a baby in my womb, given birth, held my child in my arms?
But no one acknowledges this, not even Jasu. Only Kavita has an aching cavity in her heart for what she's lost. She sees the pride in Jasu's eyes as he holds his son and forces herself to smile while saying a silent prayer for this child. She hopes she can give him the life he deserves. She prays she will be a good mother to her son, prays she has enough maternal love left in her heart for him, prays it didn't die along with her daughters. ~ Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Perfect Child quotes by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Language is a powerful thing, and it changes the way we view ourselves, and other people, in delightful and horrifying ways. Anyone with any knowledge of the military, or who pays attention to how the media talks about war, has likely caught on to this.
We don't kill "people." We kill "targets." (Or japs or gooks or ragheads). We don't kill "fifteen year old boys" but "enemy combatants" (yes, every boy 15 and over killed in drone strikes now is automatically listed as an enemy combatant. Not a boy. Not a child.). ~ Kameron Hurley
