It is frightening that in recent years such an increase has occurred in acts of terrorism, which have even reached peaceful countries such as ours. And as a 'remedy', more and more security forces are established to protect the lives of individual men and women. ~ Alva Myrdal
Peaceful Country quotes by Alva Myrdal
Just think about this: haven't we been going just to and fro? The whole world rather. Years back, it was good to take vitamin supplements and today they are considered hampering body's natural immune. Sometime back, people were desperate to land up in high paying jobs, today there is a big entrepreneurship fad. Back in years, it was a pride to be settled in the city, now people are giving up all responsibilities to settle at a peaceful country side.
What are we all really doing? We are moving from pillar to post, forward and backward on theories. We are all as confused as the next person. And unfortunately, we are all going to leave this world with barely being able to decipher much. ~ Jasleen Kaur Gumber
Peaceful Country quotes by Jasleen Kaur Gumber
Our small and peaceful country is threatened daily by covetous and bigoted big powers whose hunger for domination and control of other nations and their resources knows no bounds. ~ Robert Mugabe
Peaceful Country quotes by Robert Mugabe
The memories which peaceful country scenes call up, are not of this world, nor of its thoughts and hopes. Their gentle influence may teach us how to weave fresh garlands for the graves of those we loved: may purify our thoughts, and bear down before it old enmity and hatred; but beneath all this, there lingers, in the least reflective mind, a vague and half-formed consciousness of having held such feelings long before, in some remote and distant time, which calls upon solemn thoughts of distant times to come, and bends down pride and worldliness beneath it. ~ Charles Dickens
Peaceful Country quotes by Charles Dickens
At least God never showed his face in Iceland. Olie tells me it wasn't even created by him. No wonder it's the most peaceful country in the world. ~ Hallgrimur Helgason
Peaceful Country quotes by Hallgrimur Helgason
In peaceful times in a peaceful country a man grows up, goes to school, marries, works, suffers illnesses, grows old. He may go through the whole of life without understanding what freedom is. No doubt he always feels free to the extent to which it is proper for a respectable citizen with average powers of imagination to be free. ~ Ilya Ehrenburg
Peaceful Country quotes by Ilya Ehrenburg
I don't believe that China, in my lifetime or maybe my children's lifetime, be equal to the United States militarily speaking, but they are very careful to avoid any engagement in war, they are basically a peaceful country, which gives them another advantage over the United States when we are much more inclined to go to war for various reasons. ~ Jimmy Carter
Peaceful Country quotes by Jimmy Carter
The fight for freedom must go on until it is won; until our country is free and happy and peaceful as part of the community of man, we cannot rest. ~ Oliver Tambo
Peaceful Country quotes by Oliver Tambo
Through the ample open door of the peaceful country barn, A sun-lit pasture field, with cattle and horses feeding; And haze, and vista, and the far horizon, fading away. ~ Walt Whitman
Peaceful Country quotes by Walt Whitman
I want Thailand to be a peaceful country. ~ Thaksin Shinawatra
Peaceful Country quotes by Thaksin Shinawatra
In the 1880s, people all over the world looked to America for inspiration. Its very existence was proof that it was possible to have a relatively free and peaceful country. No income tax, no foreign wars, no welfare state, no intrusions on civil liberties. ~ Harry Browne
Peaceful Country quotes by Harry Browne
Riding across Nebraska in a covered wagon was a monthlong immersion therapy in kindness, a reminder of the essential decency of my country. ~ Rinker Buck
Peaceful Country quotes by Rinker Buck
Better to sink with tempests raging o'er
Masts all dismantled and hull gaping wide
Than rest and rot on some unclouded shore
The idle plaything of the listless tide.

Better the grime of battle on the brow,
With grim defeat to crush thy dying hand
Than through long years of peace to tyrant bow
Or dwell captive in a strangers land.

Better the castle with beleaguered gate,
By battle's lightning shivered in a day
Than peaceful walls in pomp of sullen state,
Through centuries sinking to a dull decay.

Better resolve to win thy heart's desire,
And striving bravely, die in the endeavor
Than have the embers of some smothered fire
Lie smouldering in thy saddened soul forever. ~ Sam Davis
Peaceful Country quotes by Sam Davis
I would just say it's not good for the country to have 11 million people here who we don't know who they are, where they're living. They're not paying taxes, but they're showing up in emergency rooms. They're driving up the cost of auto insurance 'cause they don't have driver's licenses and are getting into accidents. They're having children, which are US citizens. So, I mean, it's an issue that needs to be dealt with. ~ Marco Rubio
Peaceful Country quotes by Marco Rubio
I opened my own restaurant when I was 17. I went broke, then traveled around the country, learning about different kinds of foods, had three other restaurants that went broke. It didn't all start just a few years ago! ~ Paul Prudhomme
Peaceful Country quotes by Paul Prudhomme
However horrible the incidents of war may be, the soldier who is called upon to offer and to give his life for his country is the noblest development of mankind. ~ Douglas MacArthur
Peaceful Country quotes by Douglas MacArthur
The more you focus on the positive and the beauty around you, the more positive and peaceful your life will be. ~ Debasish Mridha
Peaceful Country quotes by Debasish Mridha
If I could do anything, I would go to the middle of our planet Earth and seek uranium, rubies and gold. I'd look for unspoiled monsters. Then I'd move to the country.
Florie Rotondo, age 8 ~ Truman Capote
Peaceful Country quotes by Truman Capote
Much of the image of the amazingness of America comes from the movies into other cultures. And it's much the same thing when you reverse it. Much of Africa is presented through poverty, through drought and war. [But] you're not presenting people, you're not presenting countries, you're not presenting complexity, and so people can't care about an amorphous mass called Africa. ~ Chris Abani
Peaceful Country quotes by Chris Abani
I do not want two classes of citizens in this country. I want everybody to prosper. That's going to be a top priority. ~ Barack Obama
Peaceful Country quotes by Barack Obama
A peaceful soul calms the storms in mind. ~ Toba Beta
Peaceful Country quotes by Toba Beta
A country in which 42% of the population is totally misinformed is not a country where democracy is safe. ~ Paul Craig Roberts
Peaceful Country quotes by Paul Craig Roberts
In a country which had accepted caste distinctions for many centuries, inequality had become an inborn mental concept. ~ Khushwant Singh
Peaceful Country quotes by Khushwant Singh
Your pride for your country should not come after your country becomes great; your country becomes great because of your pride in it. ~ Idowu Koyenikan
Peaceful Country quotes by Idowu Koyenikan
More girls were killed in the last 50 years, precisely because they were girls, than men killed in all the wars in the 20th century. More girls are killed in this routine gendercide in any one decade than people were slaughtered in all the genocides of the 20th century.
The equivalent of 5 jumbo jets worth of women die in labor each day ... life time risk of maternal death is 1,000x higher in a poor country than in the west. That should be an international scandal. ~ Nicholas D. Kristof
Peaceful Country quotes by Nicholas D. Kristof
The city has a face, the country a soul. ~ Jacques De Lacretelle
Peaceful Country quotes by Jacques De Lacretelle
The English government is one of those which arose out of a conquest, and not out of society, and consequently it arose over the people; and though it has been much modified from the opportunity of circumstances since the time of William the Conqueror, the country has never yet regenerated itself, and is therefore without a constitution. ~ Thomas Paine
Peaceful Country quotes by Thomas Paine
Hatred could not be the basis of her resolution to fight. It provided no access to her own qi, her vital spirit. That was the deepest truth she knew about fighting. It's what she learned from her father and Sensei: fight from the peaceful place inside, from her father's place. ~ Jacques Antoine
Peaceful Country quotes by Jacques Antoine
The similarities between groups like Al Qaeda or the Islamic State and USSR are too numerous and fundamental to be ignored. Both groups are driven by a totalitarian vision. The followers of Karl Marx envisioned a world transformed into a workers' paradise in which all other classes had been destroyed and only one party, the Communist Party, was in control. Today's jihadists also have a universal vision. They look forward to a global caliphate in which all have submitted to the will of Allah and live as Muslims, the infidels and apostates having been slain. Both visions are exclusive, absolutist, and totalitarian. They are predicated on a 'them or us' vision of how the world must be. There is no possibility for peaceful coexistence with the 'other'. ~ Sebastian Gorka
Peaceful Country quotes by Sebastian Gorka
So long as public schools are treated as places that exist to provide guaranteed jobs to members of the teachers' unions, do not be surprised to see American students continuing to score lower on international tests than students in countries that spend a lot less per pupil than we do. ~ Thomas Sowell
Peaceful Country quotes by Thomas Sowell
Privilege and complacency paralyze me with fear sometimes. But the less vulnerable we are because of privilege, the country we're born in, or the security we enjoy, the more vulnerable our souls are to apathy. ~ Brandi Carlile
Peaceful Country quotes by Brandi Carlile
I've always traveled, as a kid my parents moved me around, a different place in Germany every four years. But I got the travel bug when I was a kid, living in different countries. ~ Dominic Monaghan
Peaceful Country quotes by Dominic Monaghan
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. ~ Thomas Jefferson
Peaceful Country quotes by Thomas Jefferson
I think Michael Moore is an amazing man - an amazing, brave man. And I think people are probably going to start saying, 'Don't associate with Cindy Sheehan.' People who speak truth to power somehow are marginalized in this country. ~ Cindy Sheehan
Peaceful Country quotes by Cindy Sheehan
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government. ~ Edward Abbey
Peaceful Country quotes by Edward Abbey
The destiny of any country is in the hands of the people who know God; they are the people who carry Christian ideas ~ Sunday Adelaja
Peaceful Country quotes by Sunday Adelaja
Any country where there is no freedom of speech is no more than a Kingdom of Animals where only the powerful speaks! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Peaceful Country quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
It is with this surety that we must stand with Haiti, a country whose spirit and people will never be broken, and work in solidarity toward the future the Haitian people deserve. ~ Paul Farmer
Peaceful Country quotes by Paul Farmer
If you care about this country, if you want to take part in a citizen's movement that helps heal the deep racial, economic, and cultural divides tearing us apart, you must read Eric Deggans' Race-Baiter. No book of recent vintage so thoroughly dissects the media's monetized appetite for division. Provocative, honest, and smart, Race-Baiter is a supremely important book. Read it and let the conversation begin. ~ Connie May Fowler
Peaceful Country quotes by Connie May Fowler
America is not a country of immigrants, we are a country of pioneers. ~ Mike Klepper
Peaceful Country quotes by Mike Klepper
We acknowledge-now with President Obama-that we have made mistakes in the United States, and we along with other developed countries have contributed most significantly to the problem we face with climate change. ~ Hillary Clinton
Peaceful Country quotes by Hillary Clinton
Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country. ~ Marquis De Lafayette
Peaceful Country quotes by Marquis De Lafayette
Within the studies and on the screen, the Jews could simply create a new country - an empire of their own, so to speak, one where they would not only be admitted, but would govern as well. The would create its values and myths, its traditions and archetypes. ~ Neal Gabler
Peaceful Country quotes by Neal Gabler
That's what our country needs – more books and far more readers. ~ Aman Jassal
Peaceful Country quotes by Aman Jassal
Reverend Mahakasyapa, the Maras who play the devil in the innumerable universes of the ten directions are all Bodhisattvas dwelling in the inconcievable liberation, who are playing the devil in order to develop living beings through their skill in liberative technique. Reverend Mahakasyapa, all the miserable beggars who come to the Bodhisattvas of the innumerable universes of the ten directions to ask for a hand, a foot, an ear, a nose, some blood, muscles, bones, marrow, an eye, a torso, a head, a limb, a member, a throne, a kingdom, a country, a wife, a son, a daughter, s slave, a slave-girl, a horse, an elephent, a chariot, a cart, gold, silver, jewels, pearls, conches, crystal, coral, beryl, treasures, food, drink, elixers, amd clothes -- these demanding beggars are usually Bodhisattvas living in the inconcievable liberation who, through their skill in liberative technique, wish to test and thus demonstrate the firmness of the high resolve of the Bodhisattvas. Why? Reverend Mahakasyapa, the Bodhisattvas demonstrate that firmness by means of terrible austerities. Ordinary beings have no power to be this demanding of Bodhisattvas, unless they are granted the oppurtunity. They are not capable of killing and depriving in that manner without being freeluy given the chance.

Reverend Mahakasyapa, just as a glowworm cannot eclipse the light of the sun, so Reverend Mahakasyapa, it is not possible without special allowance that an ordinary person can thus attack and depr ~ Vimalakirti
Peaceful Country quotes by Vimalakirti
All of us that have teams want to pick the right people. I've thought a lot about that. In the NFL, we've got 13 scouts traveling the country. We're trying to pick 22 year-olds coming out of college who will be successful in the NFL. It's very hard to do. What I've learned is it's always character first. ~ Joe Gibbs
Peaceful Country quotes by Joe Gibbs
Every country in the world had a bureaucracy, whose entire purpose was to delay important things from happening. ~ Tom Clancy
Peaceful Country quotes by Tom Clancy
The government of my country snubs honest simplicity but fondles artistic villainy, and I think I might have developed into a very capable pickpocket if I had remained in the public service a year or two. ~ Mark Twain
Peaceful Country quotes by Mark Twain
I come from a generation where I couldn't even contemplate such a thing. I find it amazing. You can become a multi-millionaire as a club player without playing international football. But international football is about individual pride and wanting to perform at the highest level. If I got picked at 41, I would have played, even if I thought I would make a fool of myself. I just wanted to play for my country. ~ Trevor Brooking
Peaceful Country quotes by Trevor Brooking
Instead of the primitive raw material economy, we will create a smart economy generating unique knowledge, new useful things and technologies. Instead of the archaic society, in which the leaders think and make decisions for everyone, we will become a country of intelligent, free and responsible people ~ Dmitry Medvedev
Peaceful Country quotes by Dmitry Medvedev
I am now quite cured of seeking pleasure in society, be it country or town. A sensible man ought to find sufficient company in himself. ~ Emily Bronte
Peaceful Country quotes by Emily Bronte
Last Victorian and Edwardian Britain saw a mega-change in reading habits. For the first time fiction took the primary place in book publishing, and the medium was taken up by briliant and entertaining authors with an agenda for 'a brave new world'. Such men as Thomas Hardy, H. G. Wells and George Bernard Shaw were the opinion-makers for coming generations. 'With the next phase of Victorian fiction', wrote G. K. Chesterton, 'we enter a new world; the later, more revolutionary, more continental, freer but in some ways weker world in which we live today.'
Chesterton did not live to see the full consequences of the change but W. R. Inge predicted what was coming when he wrote:
No God. No country. No family. Refusal to serve in war. Free love. More play. Less work. No punishments. Go as you please. It is difficult to imagine any programme which, if carried out, would be more utterly ruinous to a country situated as Great Britain is today. ~ Iain H. Murray
Peaceful Country quotes by Iain H. Murray
Theta sat next to Memphis and watched Mr. and Mrs. Chan laughing about some private joke. They were a mixed couple, and they were happy. No one seemed to be bothering them. But they were also here in the few blocks of Chinatown. What happened when they crossed Canal Street into the rest of the city? What happened when they went out into the rest of the country? ~ Libba Bray
Peaceful Country quotes by Libba Bray
We cannot speak of human rights in other countries unless we are going to do our utmost to protect the rights of our own people here at home. ~ Jimmy Carter
Peaceful Country quotes by Jimmy Carter
Oscar-winning triumph. The New York Times called it "a disturbing revelation of the savagery that prevailed in the hearts of the old gun-fighters, who were simply legal killers under the frontier code." It was that and more. The hero acts precisely as many Americans believe their country acts in the world. He is an enforcer of morality and a scourge of oppressors; he comes from far away but knows instinctively what must be done; he brings peace by slaying wrongdoers; he risks his life to help others; and for all this he wishes no reward other than the quiet satisfaction of having done what was right. Shane reinforced a cultural consensus ~ Stephen Kinzer
Peaceful Country quotes by Stephen Kinzer
His knowledge of country lore was a little hazy, but he felt fairly sure that if the cows lay down, it meant rain. If they were standing it would probably be fine. These cows were taking it in turns to execute slow and solemn somersaults; and Tyler wondered what it presaged for the weather. ~ Terry Pratchett
Peaceful Country quotes by Terry Pratchett
I open the books on Right and on ethics; I listen to the professors and jurists; and, my mind full of their seductive doctrines, I admire the peace and justice established by the civil order; I bless the wisdom of our political institutions and, knowing myself a citizen, cease to lament I am a man. Thoroughly instructed as to my duties and my happiness, I close the book, step out of the lecture room, and look around me. I see wretched nations groaning beneath a yoke of iron. I see mankind ground down by a handful of oppressors, I see a famished mob, worn down by sufferings and famine, while the rich drink the blood and tears of their victims at their ease. I see on every side the strong armed with the terrible powers of the Law against the weak.

And all this is done quietly and without resistance. It is the peace of Ulysses and his comrades, imprisoned in the cave of the Cyclops and waiting their turn to be devoured. We must groan and be silent. Let us for ever draw a veil over sights so terrible. I lift my eyes and look to the horizon. I see fire and flame, the fields laid waste, the towns put to sack. Monsters! where are you dragging the hapless wretches? I hear a hideous noise. What a tumult and what cries! I draw near; before me lies a scene of murder, ten thousand slaughtered, the dead piled in heaps, the dying trampled under foot by horses, on every side the image of death and the throes of death. And that is the fruit of your peaceful institutions! Indignat ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Peaceful Country quotes by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
America is an unlikely place - a country built on defiance of the odds; on a belief in the impossible. And I remind you of this because as you set out to live your own stories of success and achievement, it's now your turn to help keep it this way. ~ Barack Obama
Peaceful Country quotes by Barack Obama
If Republicans eliminate Medicare, America will become a country in which you can never retire - and once you physically can no longer work, you are desperately poor until you die. ~ Al Franken
Peaceful Country quotes by Al Franken
From several of the Indian tribes inhabiting the country bordering on Lake Erie purchases have been made of lands on conditions very favorable to the United States, and, as it is presumed, not less so to the tribes themselves. ~ James Monroe
Peaceful Country quotes by James Monroe
