When it was time for parent-teacher conferences, I remember that I was always embarrassed about what my parents would hear about me! ~ Derek Jeter
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Derek Jeter
There are no grown-ups ... Everyone is winging it, some just do it more confidently. ~ Pamela Druckerman
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Pamela Druckerman
My father? A hard drinking man from the 70's. We actually have no pictures of my dad where he is not holding a beer. Weddings, Funerals, Water Skiing, Parent-Teacher Conference. When I got sick around him as a kid growing up, he'd always warm me up a shot of 100 proof whiskey. Never got sick ... that I can remember. ~ Christopher Titus
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Christopher Titus
I've come up with the three things you never want to hear at your kid's parent/teacher conference. Number one: 'You're only responsible for the first $10,000 worth of damage.' Number two: 'We have medication for this.' And number three: 'It was more than an ounce and he was less than a hundred yards from the school.' ~ Bill Engvall
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Bill Engvall
I allowed myself a little bit of relief. That was a lot less bad than I though it would be.
"Of course, we'll also have to have a parent-teacher conference. Do you have a parent available to call right now?"
Never mind. That was enough to ruin my whole year. ~ August Westman
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by August Westman
My name is James Edward Franco. Ted is a nickname for Edward. That's what my parents called me. I also got 'Teddy Ruxpin' a lot. It just got to a point where I got sick of it, so when a teacher called out 'James Franco' my junior year of high school, I didn't correct her. ~ James Franco
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by James Franco
To harness the power of television for the education of our nation's children, everyone must get involved - television programmers, government leaders, teachers, and above all, parents. ~ Edwin Newman
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Edwin Newman
Alexander Hamilton Junior High School
-- SEMESTER REPORT --

STUDENT: Joseph Margolis
TEACHER: Janet Hicks

ENGLISH: A, ARITHMETIC: A, SOCIAL STUDIES: A, SCIENCE: A, NEATNESS: A, PUNCTUALITY: A, PARTICIPATION: A, OBEDIENCE: D

Teacher's Comments:
Joseph remains a challenging student. While I appreciate his creativity, I am sure you will agree that a classroom is an inappropriate forum for a reckless imagination. There is not a shred of evidence to support his claim that Dolley Madison was a Lesbian, and even fewer grounds to explain why he even knows what the word means. Similarly, an analysis of the Constitutional Convention does not generate sufficient cause to initiate a two-hour classroom debate on what types of automobiles the Founding Fathers would have driven were they alive today. When asked on a subsequent examination, "What did Benjamin Franklin use to discover electricity?" eleven children responded "A Packard convertible". I trust you see my problem.

Janet Hicks

Parent's Comments:
As usual I am very proud of Joey's grades. I too was unaware that Dolley Madison was a Lesbian. I assumed they were all Protestants.
Thank you for writing.
Ida Margolis ~ Steve Kluger
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Steve Kluger
Every child should have a caring adult in their lives. And that's not always a biological parent or family member. It may be a friend or neighbor. Often times it is a teacher. ~ Joe Manchin
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Joe Manchin
No parent/home/child/teacher/school has an all-round 100 percent wholeness. We all have limitations and problems. But I must never think it is all or nothing.
Perhaps I'd like to live in the country, but I don't. Well, maybe I can get the family to a park two times a week, and out to the country once every two weeks.
Maybe I have to send my child to a not-so-good school. Well, maybe we can read one or two good books together aloud. If you can't give them everything, give them something. ~ Susan Schaeffer Macaulay
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay
I would argue that education, actual learning - it is hard work. It's very personal. Your parents don't teach you anything. Your teachers don't teach you anything. The government doesn't teach you anything. You read it. You don't understand it; you read it again. You break a pencil and read it again. ~ Dean Kamen
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Dean Kamen
The child should be taught to consider his instructor ... superior to the parent in point of authority ... The vulgar impression that parents have a legal right to dictate to teachers is entirely erroneous ... Parents have no remedy as against the teacher. ~ John Swett
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by John Swett
Wherever possible, home is by far the best nest until at least eight, ten or twelve. Psychologists and psychiatrists who understand child development would prefer an even later age. In a reasonably warm home, parent-child responses, the true ABC's of sound education, are likely to be a hundred times more frequent than the average teacher-child responses in a classroom. ~ Dorothy Moore
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Dorothy Moore
Whether we are poets or parents or teachers or artists or gardeners, we must start where we are and use what we have. In the process of creation and relationship, what seems mundane and trivial may show itself to be a holy, precious part of a pattern. ~ Luci Shaw
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Luci Shaw
The teacher will never be a parent. The parents are the parents. But they have to engage in some sort of active education beyond just teaching mathematics and French and English because the kids spend more time there than they do with their parents at that age. We have to accept that other adults will be part of our children's education and they will have bad teachers. That's going to happen. ~ Philippe Falardeau
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Philippe Falardeau
When Vice President Al Gore, a progressive supporter of teacher unions and opponent of school vouchers, was asked why he opposed school vouchers for black children while sending his own son to a private school, he said, "If I was the parent of a child who went to an inner-city school that was failing, I might be for vouchers, too."106 ~ John Perazzo
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by John Perazzo
Parents teach in the toughest school in the world - The School for Making People. You are the board of education, the principal, the classroom teacher, and the janitor ... ~ Virginia Satir
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Virginia Satir
Young children. Where are they looking when their eyes focus above our heads, or when they talk to "invisible friends"? The child senses things most adults have lost, and in the innocence of expression might describe what s/he perceives. More often than not, the parent or teacher of that child might pat him condescendingly on the head and tell him what a fun imagination he has, or things could become more severe and that child will be scolded for making things up. Soon the child will learn to ignore such nonsense, or at least not bother sharing it for fear of ridicule.
And so we forget. ~ Stephen Poplin
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Stephen Poplin
Every good teacher and every good parent has somehow learned to negotiate the paradox of freedom and discipline. We want our children and our students to become people who think and live freely, yet at the same time we know that helping them become free requires us to restrict their freedom in certain situations. ~ Parker J. Palmer
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Parker J. Palmer
These works are handed down from teacher to pupil, from parent to child, almost without question, like DNA. They are memorized, recited, discussed in book reports, included in university entrance exams, and once the student is grown up, they become a source for quotation. They are made into movies again and again, they are parodied, and inevitably they become the object of ambitious young writers' revolt and contempt. ~ Ryunosuke Akutagawa
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Ryunosuke Akutagawa
By learning to yield to the loving authority ... of his parents, a child learns to submit to other forms of authority which will confront him later in his life - his teachers, school principal, police, neighbors and employers. ~ James Dobson
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by James Dobson
By tradition, a teacher was a most revered figure, a mentor for life, who imparted wisdom as well as knowledge, and who must be respected like a parent. (The murder of a teacher was classified as parricide, which, like treason, was punishable by death of a thousand cuts.) Emperors and princes set up shrines in their homes to honour their deceased tutors. ~ Jung Chang
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Jung Chang
This is how it is today: The teachers are afraid of the principals. The principals are afraid of the superintendents. The superintendents are afraid of the board of education. The board is afraid of the parents. The parents are afraid of the children. The children are afraid of nothing! ~ Milton Berle
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Milton Berle
Learning is good in and of itself ... the mothers of the Jewish ghettoes of the east would pour honey on a book so the children would know that learning is sweet. And the parents who settled hungry Kansas would take their children in from the fields when a teacher came. ~ George H. W. Bush
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by George H. W. Bush
It's the first line in your book. I always thought there was a lot of truth in that. Or maybe that's what my English teacher said. I can't really remember. I read it last semester."
- Your parents must be so proud you can read."
- They are. They bought me a pony and everything when I did a book report on Cat in the Hat. ~ Nicholas Sparks
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Nicholas Sparks
The trouble with learning to parent on the job is that your child is the teacher. ~ Robert Breault
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Robert Breault
But it had no doubt sprung from true emotion, for all that parents ever wanted, really, was for you to love their child the way they did. ~ Meg Wolitzer
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Meg Wolitzer
No man ever made himself to live. No preacher, however earnest, can make one hearer to live. No parent, however prayerful, no teacher, however tearful, can make a child live unto God. "You hath HE quickened," is true of all who are quickened. ~ Charles Spurgeon
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Charles Spurgeon
Some people thought that if you put pressure on kids, parents, and teachers and schools, the pressure alone would produce results. It appealed to people who think the quick fix for education is to threaten people. It's not a left-right division. ~ Deborah Meier
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Deborah Meier
If I had a personal wish for the new ideas in this new book it would be that every parent, every counselor, every teacher, every professor, every sports coach that deals with young people would understand the three circle concept. ~ James Collins
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by James Collins
For whatever reason, I didn't succumb to the stereotype that science wasn't for girls. I got encouragement from my parents. I never ran into a teacher or a counselor who told me that science was for boys. A lot of my friends did. ~ Sally Ride
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Sally Ride
The classics tell us that, in relationships, the one between teacher and student comes second only to the one between parent and child. ~ Lisa See
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Lisa See
Great teachers will never be able to make up for bad parents, nor should they be expected to. ~ Taylor Mali
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Taylor Mali
I'll show up at every classroom open house and teacher conference,' she said, now in a voice that was almost frightening in its intensity. 'I'll bake brownies. My child will have new clothes. Her shoes will fit. She'll get her shots, and she'll get her braces. We'll start a college fund next week. I'll tell her I love her every damn day.'
If that wasn't a great plan for being a good mother, I couldn't imagine what a better one could be. ~ Charlaine Harris
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Charlaine Harris
We see that love manifested normally in the soldier, in the parent, in the lover, and in the spiritual teacher. ~ Frederick Lenz
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Frederick Lenz
Children copy their parents, friends, and teachers. They will develop the habits of the people around them. So if you want your child to be honest, peaceful and happy you should be that way first. ~ Baba Hari Dass
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Baba Hari Dass
My parents are both teachers, so we had the summers off. ~ Vanessa Williams
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Vanessa Williams
Siwanatorz protect each other. If they see someone being bullied, they speak up. Maybe not to the bully herself, but to a parent or teacher. ~ JoJo Siwa
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by JoJo Siwa
In this world, you are either good or evil. If not, then a court or a teacher or a parent is bound to tag your identity before you've had a chance to figure it out on your own. The gray middle ground, that mucous-thin terrain where most of life resides, is really only a temporary annex, like gestation or purgatory. ~ Elizabeth L. Silver
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Elizabeth L. Silver
I think the gold standard is a clinical diagnosis, that an astute clinician interacting with a child, interviewing the parents, talking with teachers makes the diagnosis based on some standard tests and also on clinical impression and skill. ~ Gerald Fischbach
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Gerald Fischbach
No doubt there are some who, when confronted with a line of mathematical symbols, however simply presented, can only see the face of a stern parent or teacher who tried to force into them a non-comprehending parrot-like apparent competence
a duty and a duty alone
and no hint of magic or beauty of the subject might be allowed to come through. ~ Roger Penrose
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Roger Penrose
None of us got where we are solely by pulling ourselves up
by our bootstraps. We got here because somebody -
a parent, a teacher, an Ivy League crony or a few nuns -
bent down and helped us pick up our boots. ~ Thurgood Marshall
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Thurgood Marshall
Abstain from all thinking about other people's faults, unless your duties as a teacher or parent make it necessary to think about them. Whenever the thoughts come unnecessarily into one's mind, why not simply shove them away? And think of one's own faults instead? For ~ C.S. Lewis
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by C.S. Lewis
My first singing role was as Susanna in a school production in a shortened form of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. I loved to sing and I was given lots of encouragement by a wonderful music teacher Mrs Ann Hill and by my parents who suggested I go to drama school. ~ Elaine Paige
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Elaine Paige
Many people have been positive influences in my life. My parents, whom I mentioned, were the most important, but many of my teachers were also a big help to me. ~ Samuel Alito
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Samuel Alito
A woman's life may die away in the fore of self-hatred for complexes can bite hard and, at least for a time, successfully frighten her away from coming too near the work or life that matters to her ... Many years are spent not going, not moving, not learning, not finding out, not obtaining, not taking on, not becoming. The vision a woman has for her own life can also be decimated at someone else's jealousy or someone's plain out destructiveness towards her family, mentors, teachers, and friends are not supposed to be destructive if and when they feel envy, but some decidedly are, in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways. No woman can afford to let her creative life hang by a thread while she serves an antagonistic love relationship , parent, teacher or friend. ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Research is starting to show that a child should be engaged at least 20 hours a week. I do not think it matters which program you choose as long as it keeps the child actively engaged with the therapist, teacher, or parent for at least 20 hours a week. ~ Temple Grandin
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Temple Grandin
Generally people don't recomend this type of book at all. It is far too interesting. Perhaps you have had other books recomended to you. Perhaps, even, you have been given books by friends, parents, teachers, then told that these books are the type you have to read. Those books are invariably described as "important"- which in my experience, pretty much means that they're boring. (words like meaningful and thoughtful are other good clues.) ~ Brandon Sanderson
Parent Teacher Conference quotes by Brandon Sanderson
I knew a teacher that kept a calendar on his desk. He didn't use it for lesson planning though. Instead he was marking time until summer. That's what prisoners do on walls. They mark the days until they go free. But if you're marking time as a teacher, you aren't redeeming the time with your students. A parent drops a child off at the beginning of the year and it's your job to redeem the time and educate that child. It's your responsibility to see that child progress throughout the year. The child should be a better student as a result of being in your classroom. You are responsible - for successes and failures - and you have an obligation to students and parents to redeem every precious minute you're given as an educator. ~ Tucker Elliot
