The more leeches there are affixed to a host, the less resources there are to siphon from said hosts, per parasite. The ability to only absorb energy, without the ability or desire to reproduce it in a productive manner, is a dangerous, unsustainable, albeit attractive long term method of collapse and decline. ~ Justin K. McFarlane Beau
Paradigm Shift quotes by Justin K. McFarlane Beau
As far as our relation to the physical world, I doubt there will be much more improvement. Our basic survival needs have been met, and much of our current progress is superfluous or downright troublesome. Most advancement is performed out of comfort rather than necessity. What we are lacking, what the world so desperately needs now, is adjustments of the mind. We need to see the world again with fresh eyes, and come to an understanding of who we are as individuals, and what drives us. ~ Chris Matakas
Paradigm Shift quotes by Chris Matakas
Did you know that Judaism is based on paradigm shifts, Henry? First came Abraham, then came Moses. Then came the prophets, then came the rabbis. Pretty amazing stuff. Each iteration, reaching for the godhead. What comes next, Henry? What comes next? ~ Michael Davidow
Paradigm Shift quotes by Michael Davidow
In accordance with the law of accelerating returns, paradigm shift (also called innovation) turns the S-curve of any specific paradigm into a continuing exponential. A new paradigm, such as three-dimensional circuits, takes over when the old paradigm approaches its natural limit, which has already happened at least four times in the history of computation. In such nonhuman species as apes, the mastery of a toolmaking or -using skill by each animal is characterized by an S-shaped learning curve that ends abruptly; human-created technology, in contrast, has followed an exponential pattern of growth and acceleration since its inception. ~ Ray Kurzweil
Paradigm Shift quotes by Ray Kurzweil
We urgently need a paradigm shift in our concept of the purposes and practices of education. We need to leave behind the concept of education as a passport to more money and higher status in the future and replace it with a concept of education as an ongoing process that enlists the tremendous energies and creativity of schoolchildren in rebuilding and respiriting our communities and our cities now, in the present. ~ Grace Lee Boggs
Paradigm Shift quotes by Grace Lee Boggs
The digital paradigm shift is inevitable, keep digital fit means the fitting mindset, fitting attitude, fitting structure, and fitting speed. ~ Pearl Zhu
Paradigm Shift quotes by Pearl Zhu
Despite all their surface diversity, most jokes and funny incidents have the following logical structure: Typically you lead the listener along a garden path of expectation, slowly building up tension. At the very end, you introduce an unexpected twist that entails a complete reinterpretation of all the preceding data, and moreover, it's critical that the new interpretation, though wholly unexpected, makes as much "sense" of the entire set of facts as did the originally "expected" interpretation.
In this regard, jokes have much in common with scientific creativity, with what Thomas Kuhn calls a "paradigm shift" in response to a single "anomaly." (It's probably not coincidence that many of the most creative scientists have a great sense of humor.) Of course, the anomaly in the joke is the traditional punch line and the joke is "funny" only if the listener gets the punch line by seeing in a flash of insight how a completely new interpretation of the same set of facts can incorporate the anomalous ending.
The longer and more tortuous the garden path of expectation, the "funnier" the punch line when finally delivered. ~ V.S. Ramachandran
Paradigm Shift quotes by V.S. Ramachandran
I talk a lot about the value of lust in my book. No, don't freak out! The concept is simply about helping you understand the psychology of being an irresistible woman. There is more to life when we learn how to see lust as a tool of wisdom rather than as the devil's most favorite weapon to deceive and destroy the world. This is the next level of thinking. Are you ready for a paradigm shift? ~ Lebo Grand
Paradigm Shift quotes by Lebo Grand
Okay, paradigm shift, faeries and brownies exist. ~ Dawn Marie Hamilton
Paradigm Shift quotes by Dawn Marie Hamilton
Humor. Two unconnected things are suddenly united by a paradigm shift. It is hard to describe, but we all know it when it happens. Weirdly, it causes us to make a barking noise. ~ Jesse Schell
Paradigm Shift quotes by Jesse Schell
We're presently in the midst of a third intellectual revolution. The first came with Newton: the planets obey physical laws. The second came with Darwin: biology obeys genetic laws. In today's third revolution, were coming to realize that even minds and societies emerge from interacting laws that can be regarded as computations. Everything is a computation. ~ Rudy Rucker
Paradigm Shift quotes by Rudy Rucker
Reflection is an all-consuming, in-depth, and serious thought process that is required in a paradigm shift. ~ Farshad Asl
Paradigm Shift quotes by Farshad Asl
...in order to achieve improved outcomes for families at risk, a paradigm shift is required so that unequal outcomes for families and children are seen as social injustices, rather than as products of individual dysfunction or deficit ~ Philip Slee
Paradigm Shift quotes by Philip Slee
We're living through a paradigm shift. People are going to look back at us and say, 'They used to cut people's legs off.' Then they'll just give an injection and the blood flow will be restored and the limb saved. ~ Robert Lanza
Paradigm Shift quotes by Robert Lanza
There has been a fundamental paradigm shift. Today's customer expectations are: If i can imagine it, it simply has to be there; if not, I'll invent it myself' ~ Kim Williams
Paradigm Shift quotes by Kim Williams
For a period in the '90s, I felt that the Cure was massively undervalued. But there has been a paradigm shift. There's a bunch of newer bands coming up who've grown up listening to the Cure and don't understand that you're not supposed to like us. ~ Robert Smith
Paradigm Shift quotes by Robert Smith
We hold up iPhones and, if we're relatively conscious of history, we point out that this is an amazing device that contains a live map of the world and the biggest libraries imaginable and that it's an absolute paradigm shift in personal communication and empowerment. And then some knob says that it looks like something from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and then someone else says that it doesn't even look as cool as Captain Kirk's communicator in the original and then someone else says no but you can buy a case for it to make it look like one and you're off to the manufactured normalcy races, where nobody wins because everyone goes to fucking sleep. ~ Warren Ellis
Paradigm Shift quotes by Warren Ellis
Animism is the way humanity has been deeply connected to the land and its seasonal cycles for millennia, in rapport and conversation with the animals, plants, elements, Ancestors and earth spirits. The opposite of animism is the "cult of the individual" so celebrated in modern society, and the loss of the animist worldview is at the root of our spiritual disconnect and looming ecological crisis. Human beings are just one strand woven into the complex systems of Earth Community, and the animistic perspective is fundamental to the paradigm shift, and the recovery of our own ancestral wisdom. ~ Pegi Eyers
Paradigm Shift quotes by Pegi Eyers
Into the hands of every individual is given a marvelous power for good or evil
the silent, unconscious, unseen influence of his life. This is simply the radiation of what man really is, not what he pretends to be. ~ William George Jordan
Paradigm Shift quotes by William George Jordan
The combination of Bayes and Markov Chain Monte Carlo has been called "arguably the most powerful mechanism ever created for processing data and knowledge."
Almost instantaneously MCMC and Gibbs sampling changed statisticians' entire method of attacking problems. In the words of Thomas Kuhn, it was a paradigm shift. MCMC solved real problems, used computer algorithms instead of theorems, and led statisticians and scientists into a worked where "exact" meant "simulated" and repetitive computer operations replaced mathematical equations. It was a quantum leap in statistics. ~ Sharon Bertsch McGrayne
Paradigm Shift quotes by Sharon Bertsch McGrayne
If there can be some paradigm shift thing that you can be part of, that's cool. ~ Stephen Malkmus
Paradigm Shift quotes by Stephen Malkmus
Believing and investing in yourself is the best way to shift your thinking from a paradigm of excuses to one of solutions. ~ Farshad Asl
Paradigm Shift quotes by Farshad Asl
Western Civilization was responsible for a paradigm shift in history. It created the industrial and scientific revolutions that enabled the birth of a transportation, communications and knowledge revolution unprecedented in the 5 billion year history of this planet. Unfortunately this revolution took place amidst a moral vacuum at the very top of the power structure. It is as if a three year old child had been given control over both a candy story and a shotgun. He was able to use the shotgun to get all the candy he wanted but he had no idea what to do next. Whenever somebody tried to tell him too much candy was bad for him, he shot the person who said that. ~ Benjamin Fulford
Paradigm Shift quotes by Benjamin Fulford
Intellectual progress usually occurs through sheer abandonment of questions together with both of the alternatives they assume
an abandonment that results from their decreasing vitality and a change of urgent interest. We do not solve them: we get over them. ~ John Dewey
Paradigm Shift quotes by John Dewey
Western science is approaching a paradigm shift of unprecedented proportions, one that will change our concepts of reality and of human nature, bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science, and reconcile the differences between Eastern spirituality and Western pragmatism. ~ Stanislav Grof
Paradigm Shift quotes by Stanislav Grof
First, we must liberate people from religion, as religion is understood and practiced today. Second, we must effect a paradigm shift from religiosity to shared spirituality. ~ Agnivesh
Paradigm Shift quotes by Agnivesh
We need to have a paradigm shift in our consciousness. If we don't get our act together and come in commonality and understanding with the organisms that sustain us today, not only will we destroy those organisms, but we will destroy ourselves. ~ Paul Stamets
Paradigm Shift quotes by Paul Stamets
The term paradigm shift was introduced by Thomas Kuhn in his highly influential landmark book, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Paradigm Shift quotes by Stephen R. Covey
If we come to see the purpose of the universe as God's long-term glory rather than our short-term happiness, then we will undergo a critical paradigm shift in tackling the problem of evil and suffering. The world has gone terribly wrong. God is going to fix it. First, for his eternal glory. Second, for our eternal good. ~ Randy Alcorn
Paradigm Shift quotes by Randy Alcorn
Christianity is not about the divine becoming human so much as it is about the human becoming divine. That is a paradigm shift of the first order. ~ John Shelby Spong
Paradigm Shift quotes by John Shelby Spong
The more a mind thinks upon something, the deeper it will take root and affect all subsequent and related thought. ~ A.J. Darkholme
Paradigm Shift quotes by A.J. Darkholme
We sense that 'normal' isn't coming back, that we are being born into a new normal: a new kind of society, a new relationship to the earth, a new experience of being human. ~ Charles Eisenstein
Paradigm Shift quotes by Charles Eisenstein
You can't change the fruit without changing the root. ~ Stephen R. Covey
Paradigm Shift quotes by Stephen R. Covey
You are free to create your own paradigms instead of simply accepting those presented to you by others. ~ Russell Eric Dobda
Paradigm Shift quotes by Russell Eric Dobda
The most important vision one can be enlightened with is a glimpse of our own true, inherent divinity, an inkling of our eternal potential, our marvelous capabilities, our unbreakable strength, our enduring choice, and our infinite, divine, worth. To feel a permeating sense of the awe-inspiring inexplicable, indescribable Love and its Light burning ever bright and warm, like an eternal Ember at our deepest core, is a life-enhancing, defining and as positively, mind- altering and fulfilling of an experience as there ever was. It is nothing less than a miracle, a glorious paradigm shift...and that's just the beginning. ~ Connie Kerbs
Paradigm Shift quotes by Connie Kerbs
Thomas Kuhn's book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions has probably been more widely read - and more widely misinterpreted - than any other book in the recent philosophy of science. The broad circulation of his views has generated a popular caricature of Kuhn's position. According to this popular caricature, scientists working in a field belong to a club. All club members are required to agree on main points of doctrine. Indeed, the price of admission is several years of graduate education, during which the chief dogmas are inculcated. The views of outsiders are ignored. Now I want to emphasize that this is a hopeless caricature, both of the practice of scientists and of Kuhn's analysis of the practice. Nevertheless, the caricature has become commonly accepted as a faithful representation, thereby lending support to the Creationists' claims that their views are arrogantly disregarded. ~ Philip Kitcher
Paradigm Shift quotes by Philip Kitcher
Big data will never give you big ideas ... Big data doesn't facilitate big leaps of the imagination. It will never conjure up a PC revolution or any kind of paradigm shift. And while it might tell you what to aim for, it can't tell you how to get there ~ Margaret Heffernan
Paradigm Shift quotes by Margaret Heffernan
When I discarded the idea that God was not a man (as I had been raised to think and believe without question), I grew distant, and the flame that once lit my path began to flicker and hiss like a candle burnt to its wick, making longevity impossible without a new energy source. ~ B.G. Bowers
Paradigm Shift quotes by B.G. Bowers
Ideas that require people to reorganize their picture of the world provoke hostility. ~ James Gleick
Paradigm Shift quotes by James Gleick
She had kept well behind the safety barrier her entire life, but now she was standing there at the edge of the precipice for the very first time, fumbling blindly with the realization that there were other ways to live, at how intense and rich life could be. ~ Katarina Bivald
Paradigm Shift quotes by Katarina Bivald
You believe today's paradigm are not going to change ... Ask the caveman then if his paradigms changed or not. think for yourself you loose. think for coming generations you win. ~ Sameh Elsayed
Paradigm Shift quotes by Sameh Elsayed
There's only one band that could ever even pretend to assume the mantle of what the Beatles did, who have been so pre-eminent and world-dominating that they could effect a paradigm shift in the culture, who have been willing to leverage their success into musical change, and that is U2 - regardless of what the result of that is. ~ Todd Rundgren
Paradigm Shift quotes by Todd Rundgren
Do not fight for your rights on streets. Do it elegantly within you! ~ Goran Spasa
Paradigm Shift quotes by Goran Spasa
A paradigm shift of viewing palliative care or hospice as a gift instead of seeing it as giving up has the potential to change the way we experience advanced age. ~ Lisa J. Shultz
Paradigm Shift quotes by Lisa J. Shultz
The system is not working. That is how a paradigm shift begins: the established way of seeing the world no longer functions. ~ Matthew Fox
Paradigm Shift quotes by Matthew Fox
As we watch the process in which the soul becomes thought or speech, we notice that many a time we ease ourselves into convenient clichés that have little of the new insight in them. Once more we are trapped by habits that are the dunghills upon which the creeds feed. It takes vigilance and humble courage to make acts of faith. After all, where faith is weak, there is an abundance of beliefs. With this in mind we may be more humble about our tradition and our sureness, yet also a bit more proud of the holy process in our inner being that keeps teaching and guiding us. ~ Zalman Schachter-Shalomi
Paradigm Shift quotes by Zalman Schachter-Shalomi
High and mighty guzzlers, and you, O all you precious pox-ridden - while you have the leisure and I have nothing else more important to do, let me ask you a question: why does everybody say, as if it were proverbially true, that the world is no longer flat? Understand, please, that "flat" here means "without zest, unsalted, insipid, washed-out": taking it metaphorically, it signifies "crazy, foolish, senseless, rot-brained." Would you argue, as indeed one might logically infer, that if we say that the world has been flat, now we have to say that it's become wise? What was it that made it flat? Why was it flat? Why should it be wise? What do you think ancient stupidity was? What do you think constitutes our present wisdom? What made it flat? What has made it wise? Are there more lovers of flatness or more lovers of wisdom? Just exactly when was it flat? Just exactly when was it wise? Who's responsible for that earlier flatness? Who's responsible for that later wisdom? Why did that ancient flatness end right now, and not at some other time? Why did our present wisdom begin right now, and not sooner? What harm did our earlier flatness do us? What good is this new wisdom? How did we get rid of our ancient flatness? How was our present wisdom brought about? ~ Francois Rabelais
Paradigm Shift quotes by Francois Rabelais
It's not about 'what can I accomplish?' but 'what do I want to accomplish?' Paradigm shift. ~ Brene Brown
Paradigm Shift quotes by Brene Brown
The paradigm shift happens when we come to terms with the fact that the world doesn't revolve around us. ~ Mark Batterson
Paradigm Shift quotes by Mark Batterson
On my early trips to London and Paris, in 2009, I started to shift to more wide-brimmed felt hats similar to Borsalinos and Stetsons. ~ Theophilus London
Paradigm Shift quotes by Theophilus London
We are not our feelings. We are not our moods. We are not even our thoughts. The very fact that we can think about these things separates us from them and from the animal world. Self-awareness enables us to stand apart and examine even the way we "see" ourselves - our self-paradigm, the most fundamental paradigm of effectiveness. It affects not only our attitudes and behaviors, but also how we see other people. It becomes our map of the basic nature of ~ Stephen R. Covey
Paradigm Shift quotes by Stephen R. Covey
... the way people understood things had a lot to do with the way people were, how they had been shaped, what the wanted; tricks of rhetoric would not shift them. ~ Ian McEwan
Paradigm Shift quotes by Ian McEwan
Define Your Options

When people are spinning their rumination wheels about a particular problem, they often don't concretely define what their options are for moving forward. To shift out of rumination and into problem-solving mode, concretely and realistically define what your best three to six options are. For example, imagine you've recently hired a new employee but that person is not working out. Instead of mentally slapping yourself around about why you made the hire, it would be more useful to define what your options are at this point:

--Giving the employee more time
--Shifting the employee's responsibilities to simpler jobs
--Giving the employee checklists of the steps needed to complete each task
--Having another employee work with the individual
--Firing the employee

Defining your options relieves some of the stress of rumination and helps you shift to effective problem solving. Keeping your list of options short will prevent you from running into choice-overload problems. Research shows that if you consider more than three to six choices, you're less likely to end up making a choice.
Experiment: Practice concretely defining your best three to six options for moving forward with a problem you're currently ruminating or worrying about. Write brief bullet points, like in the example just given. You can use this method for all sorts of problems. For example, a friend just used it to come up with ideas for how t ~ Alice Boyes
Paradigm Shift quotes by Alice Boyes
It is only through silent awareness that our physical and mental nature can change. This change is completely spontaneous. If we make an effort to change we do no more than shift our attention from one level, from one thing, to another. We remain in a vicious circle. This only transfers energy from one point to another. It still leaves us oscillating between suffering and pleasure, each leading inevitably back to the other. Only living stillness, stillness without someone trying to be still, is capable of undoing the conditioning our biologoical, emotional and psychological nature has undergone. There is no controller, no selector, no personality making choices. In choiceless living the situation is given the freedom to unfold. You do not grasp one aspect over another for there is nobody to grasp. When you understand something and live it without being stuck to the formulation, what you have understood dissolves in your openness. In this silence change takes place of its own accord, the problem is resolved and duality ends. You are left in your glory where no one has understood and nothing has been understood. ~ Jean Klein
Paradigm Shift quotes by Jean Klein
We decided that it was imperative for us to use our resources to create a new paradigm: one in which business operates to add value to society - without compromising the well-being of future generations. ~ Joseph Mailman
Paradigm Shift quotes by Joseph Mailman
The greatest joy comes from giving and serving, so replace your habit of focusing exclusively on yourself and what's in it for you. When you make the shift to supporting others in your life, without expecting anything in return, you'll think less about what you want and find comfort and joy in the act of giving and serving. ~ Wayne Dyer
Paradigm Shift quotes by Wayne Dyer
I'd say that [Louis] Brandeis practiced a kind of a "living originalism," to use the title of Jack Balkin's great book. He said you start with the paradigm case, which in the case of the Fourth Amendment was these general warrants or writs of assistance, but you define it at a level of abstraction that you can take it into our age and make it our own. ~ Jeffrey Rosen
Paradigm Shift quotes by Jeffrey Rosen
We have to shift our emphasis from economic efficiency and materialism towards a sustainable quality of life and to healing of our society, of our people and our ecological systems. ~ Janet Holmes A Court
Paradigm Shift quotes by Janet Holmes A Court
Manufacturers ... gradually shift their places, leaving those countries and provinces which they have already enriched, and flying to others, whether they are allured by the cheapness of provisions and labour. ~ David Hume
Paradigm Shift quotes by David Hume
Because 9/11 is an isolated incident. Things that are isolated issues as opposed to things that fundamentally change the United Sates of America and shift power from the people to the government. That is a huge shift. You have to take a long-term look at something that fundamentally changes the power structure of America. ~ Benjamin Carson
Paradigm Shift quotes by Benjamin Carson
In the major state capitalists economies, Europe and the US, it's low growth and stagnation and a very sharp income differentiation a shift - a striking shift - from production to financialization. ~ Noam Chomsky
Paradigm Shift quotes by Noam Chomsky
The one thing that's missing to create a fundamental shift in work capacity: courage. Leadership courage. ~ Bill Jensen
Paradigm Shift quotes by Bill Jensen
For his part, Jazz knew he was handsome. It had nothing to do with looking in the mirror, which he rarely did. It had everything to do with the way the girls at school looked at him, the way they became satellites when he walked by, their orbits contorted by his own mysterious gravity. If attention could be measured like the Doppler effect, girls would show a massive blue shift in his presence. In the last year or so, he had even remarked the scrutiny of older women - teachers, cashiers at stores, the woman who delivered UPS packages to his house. What had once been a maternal flavor in their glances had taken on a lingering, cool sort of appraisal. He could almost hear them thinking, Not yet. But soon.
Despite his upbringing, despite the infamy of his father, they still watched him. Or maybe because of it. Maybe Howie was right about bad boys. ~ Barry Lyga
Paradigm Shift quotes by Barry Lyga
Slow' and 'down' are modes of the soul; they are connective modes, ways of keeping connected to oneself and to one's environment. 'Slowing downwards' refers to more than simply moving slowly, it means growing down towards the roots of one's being. Instead of outward growth and upward climb, life at times must turn inward and downward in order to grow in other ways. There is a shift to the vertical down that re-turns us to root memories, root metaphors, and timeless things that shape our lives from within. Slowing downwards creates opportunities to dwell more deeply in one's life, for the home we are looking for in this world is within us all along. The lost home that we are seeking is ourselves; it is the story we carry within our soul. ~ Michael Meade
Paradigm Shift quotes by Michael Meade
From time to time it has struck me that as a writer, I've somehow managed to live my life as I had long ago dreamt of doing, based on the Tintin paradigm: on my toes, travelling, senses attentuated, everything just adventure and exploration, curiosity and problem-solving. ~ Luke Davies
Paradigm Shift quotes by Luke Davies
two feet in
this year
i choose to burn my good candles
on a Tuesday at noon
just because
i choose to use the expensive lotion
the one i keep tucked safe up on the counter
not ration any of my most cherished belongings
because i am worth investing in ---right now

this year I choose to wear that thing
you know
the one I told myself I would slip on
when I looked a certain way?
I choose to love my body
this vessel I have been given
and her seasons as they shift

this year
I give myself permission to change
and keep changing
for I understand
there is an underlying truth when it comes
to becoming- it doesn't have to mirror anyone else

this year
I choose to let go
really let go
of the heavy
of the half-hearted
no more forcing connection
where it no longer lives
I choose to nourish
what's willing to grow

this year
I choose to be grateful
for the teachings of my yesterday
I honor my wholeness
when I honor my whole self- even the shaky parts

this year
I choose to step forward

clear eyes
heart open
two feet grounded

palms wide
to the all-is-possible
unknown
and new ~ Danielle Doby
Paradigm Shift quotes by Danielle Doby
I wasn't into blame. Maybe because I had so much of it directed at me, you know? I guess you can go one of two ways with that. You can reflect it right back out at everybody else, or you can drop out of the whole blame paradigm. I guess I chose not to play the game anymore. ~ Catherine Ryan Hyde
Paradigm Shift quotes by Catherine Ryan Hyde
A cultural shift is not always an ideological one - or at least not always the one you imagine. Our norms are always evolving. ~ David Harsanyi
Paradigm Shift quotes by David Harsanyi
Whether or not [a] story has a happy ending depends, of course, on who is reading it. Whether you are a wolf or a girl. A girl or a monster or both. Not everyone in a story gets a happy ending. Not everyone who reads a story feels the same way about how it ends. And if you go back to the beginning and read it again, you may discover it isn't the same story you thought you'd read. Stories shift their shape. ~ Kelly Link
Paradigm Shift quotes by Kelly Link
Activists have not been passive. For decades, we have tried every tactic to shift the course of our governments. We have voted, written editorials and manifestos, donated money, held signs, protests in marches, blocked streets, shared links, signed petitions, held workshops, knitted scarves, learn to farm, turned off the television, programmed apps, engaged in direct action, committed vandalism, launched legal challenges against pipelines . . . and occupied the financial districts. All this has been for naught. A new approach to activism and a new kind of protest are desperately needed. ~ Micah White
Paradigm Shift quotes by Micah White
Just about everything in this life is treacherous, ready to twist and shape-shift at any second; it seemed to me that the whole world would be a different place if you had someone you were certain of, certain to the bone, or if you could be that to someone else. ~ Tana French
Paradigm Shift quotes by Tana French
American family life has never been particularly idyllic. In the nineteenth century, nearly a quarter of all children experienced the death of one of their parents ... Not until the sixties did the chief cause of separation of parents shift from death to divorce. ~ Richard Louv
Paradigm Shift quotes by Richard Louv
Round-the-clock security meant that some of them got stuck on the day shift, which was hard on vampires. At least I assumed that was why, after a week or two, they started looking a little peaked. ~ Karen Chance
Paradigm Shift quotes by Karen Chance
The covetous man heaps up riches, not to enjoy them, but to have them; and starves himself in the midst of plenty, and most unnaturally cheats and robs himself of that which is his own; and makes a hard shift, to be as poor and miserable with a great estate, as any man can be without it. ~ John Tillotson
Paradigm Shift quotes by John Tillotson
The whole story of the Father's Christ-exalting plan of redeeming love, from eternity to eternity, must be told, or the radical reorientation of life for which the gospel calls will not be understood, and the required total shift from man-centeredness to God-centeredness, and more specifically from self-centeredness to Christ-centeredness, will not take place. ~ J.I. Packer
Paradigm Shift quotes by J.I. Packer
It is when you stop resisting and choose an attitude of acceptance and positivity that you are able to shift your energetic experience to a higher plane and thereby attract and allow in experiences that are more in alignment with your hopes and dreams. ~ Susan Barbara Apollon
Paradigm Shift quotes by Susan Barbara Apollon
Our way–the Western Way–has always been a "work in progress." Questions of life and death, good and evil, justice and tragedy–these are never definitively settled, but must be addressed again and again as personal and public worlds shift and change. We hold our morals to be absolutes, but the context of our actions and decisions is forever changing. We are not relativists because we seek to re-evaluate again and again our most crucial moral positions. ~ Anne Rice
Paradigm Shift quotes by Anne Rice
The Maldives, a string of islands off the coast of India whose highest point above sea level is eight feet, may be the first nation to drown. In Alaska, entire towns have begun to shift in the loosening permafrost. ~ Michael Specter
Paradigm Shift quotes by Michael Specter
Jesus does not respond to our worry-filled way of living by saying that we should not be so busy with worldly affairs. He does not try to pull us away from the many events, activities, and people that make up our lives ... He asks us to shift the point of gravity, to relocate the center of our attention, to change our priorities. Jesus does not speak about a change of activities, a change in contacts, or even a change of pace. He speaks about a change of heart. ~ Henri Nouwen
Paradigm Shift quotes by Henri Nouwen
