I believe we should support people to live, and I am therefore in favour of good quality palliative care. ~ Nicola Sturgeon
Palliative Care quotes by Nicola Sturgeon
Eight Bells: Robert J. Kane '55D died June 3, 2017, in Palm Harbor, Florida. He came to MMA by way of Boston College. Bob or "Killer," as he was affectionately known, was an independent and eccentric soul, enjoying the freedom of life. After a career at sea as an Officer in the U.S. Navy and in the Merchant Marine he retired to an adventurous single life living with his two dogs in a mobile home, which had originally been a "Yellow School Bus." He loved watching the races at Daytona, Florida, telling stories about his interesting deeds about flying groceries to exotic Caribbean Islands, and misdeeds with mysterious ladies he had known. For years he spent his summers touring Canada and his winters appreciating the more temperate weather at Fort De Soto in St. Petersburg, Florida…. Enjoying life in the shadow of the Sunshine Bridge, Bob had an artistic flare, a positive attitude and a quick sense of humor. Not having a family, few people were aware that he became crippled by a hip replacement operation gone bad at the Bay Pines VA Hospital. His condition became so bad that he could hardly get around, but he remained in good spirits until he suffered a totally debilitating stroke. For the past 6 years Bob spent his time at various Florida Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes and Palliative Care Hospitals. His end came when he finally wound up as a terminal patient at the Hospice Facility in Palm Harbor, Florida. Bob was 86 years old when he passed. He will be missed…. ~ Hank Bracker
Palliative Care quotes by Hank Bracker
enable well-being. And well-being is about the reasons one wishes to be alive. Those reasons matter not just at the end of life, or when debility comes, but all along the way. Whenever serious sickness or injury strikes and your body or mind breaks down, the vital questions are the same: What is your understanding of the situation and its potential outcomes? What are your fears and what are your hopes? What are the trade-offs you are willing to make and not willing to make? And what is the course of action that best serves this understanding? The field of palliative care emerged over recent ~ Atul Gawande
Palliative Care quotes by Atul Gawande
But the fact that, by 2012, one in thirty-five Dutch people sought assisted suicide at their death is not a measure of success. It is a measure of failure. Our ultimate goal, after all, is not a good death but a good life to the very end. The Dutch have been slower than others to develop palliative care programs that might provide for it. One reason, perhaps, is that their system of assisted death may have reinforced beliefs that reducing suffering and improving lives through other means is not feasible when one becomes debilitated or seriously ill. ~ Atul Gawande
Palliative Care quotes by Atul Gawande
People struggle to see it's not about whether she's going to die - palliative care isn't just a place you go to slowly slip away. More people live and leave than die on our wards. It is about being comfortable for the duration of something necessary and painful. Making bad times easier. ~ Beth O'Leary
Palliative Care quotes by Beth O'Leary
First-class delivery of children's palliative care is life-changing. When families are confronted with the shattering news that their children have a life-limiting condition, their world can fall apart. ~ Kate Middleton
Palliative Care quotes by Kate Middleton
I am interested in the way advances in medicine and palliative care mean more people now have the opportunity to plan their own deaths, and also plan for those who are left behind. What does that do to the grieving process? ~ Laura Wade
Palliative Care quotes by Laura Wade
Rather than thinking about exceptional moral rules for exceptional moral situations," Harvard's Dr. Lachlan Forrow, who is also a palliative care specialist, wrote, "we should almost always see exceptional moral situations as opportunities for us to show exceptionally deep commitment to our deepest moral values. ~ Sheri Fink
Palliative Care quotes by Sheri Fink
A paradigm shift of viewing palliative care or hospice as a gift instead of seeing it as giving up has the potential to change the way we experience advanced age. ~ Lisa J. Shultz
Palliative Care quotes by Lisa J. Shultz
I have learned that delivering the best possible palliative care to children is vital, providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life-changing. ~ Kate Middleton
Palliative Care quotes by Kate Middleton
The palliative care nurses welcome him: he's a spot of brightness, they claim he keeps the patients interested in life. "We don't think of the clients here as dying," one of them said to him on his first visit. "After all everyone's dying, just some of us more slowly. ~ Margaret Atwood
Palliative Care quotes by Margaret Atwood
Sexual health is as achievable and reasonable a goal for patients in palliative care and hospice care as pain relief, but few hospice and palliative care professionals include sexual health within their assessment and plan of care. Given that
sexuality is a central aspect of being human, sexual health should be part of the assessment and plan for every patient
receiving palliative care and hospice care. ~ Kimberly D. Acquaviva
Palliative Care quotes by Kimberly D. Acquaviva
What is certainly true is that the United States has to have a presence to promote the values that we care about. ~ Barack Obama
Palliative Care quotes by Barack Obama
How? , is the biggest question, address it with care. ~ Rajesh Walecha
Palliative Care quotes by Rajesh Walecha
Policy, for the most part, has been made by white people in America, not by people of color. And they have tended to take care of those things that they think are important. Whether it's their agricultural subsidies, or other kinds of expenditures that are certainly not expenditures for poor people or for people of color. And so we have to band together and keep fighting back. ~ Maxine Waters
Palliative Care quotes by Maxine Waters
It was no place for a Kabra, not even a poor one living in exile with a psychopathic cat.
He approached the counter and rand the bell with authority. The clerk turned around.
Evan Tolliver.
"You're Amy's cousin!"
"Yes, I am," Ian confirmed. "I have here a list of items–"
"Have you heard from her?" Evan interrupted. "Is she okay?"
"Her health is excellent."
"No, I mean–"
Ian sighed. "Why should you care? She promises to phone you, and she doesn't. You were nearly arrested, thanks to her. There's a message in there somewhere, don't you agree?"
Evan nodded sadly. "I kind of think so, too. But we were awesome together. She's smart, fun to be with, and not immature like most of the girls in our school. It's as if she has an automatic switch for when it's time to be serious–she can almost be old beyond her years at times. Where do you learn something like that?"
"I have no earthly idea," Ian lied. ~ Gordon Korman
Palliative Care quotes by Gordon Korman
You're the one person whose opinion I care about. When I'm with you, the past dissappears, and I'm a better person. ~ Cindi Madsen
Palliative Care quotes by Cindi Madsen
Why do I even care? It shouldn't hurt this much. ~ Marie Lu
Palliative Care quotes by Marie Lu
Whenever I get a tweet that's trying to promote a thing someone cares about, I'm like, "how annoying!" ~ Phil Elvrum
Palliative Care quotes by Phil Elvrum
Often, breaking integrity means repeatedly doing things we do not love with people we do not care for. Isn't life meant to be a passionate love affair with our work, our faith, and those we are blessed to know, care for, and serve? ~ Brendon Burchard
Palliative Care quotes by Brendon Burchard
We take off for New Jersey. Gigantic landscape of factories, bridges, and railroads. And then, suddenly, East Orange and a countryside as postcard as can be, with thousands of neat and tidy cottages like toys in the midst of tall poplars and magnolias. I'm shown in the little public library, bright and gay, which the neighborhood uses a lot - with a huge room for children. (Finally a country where the children are really taken care of.) ~ Albert Camus
Palliative Care quotes by Albert Camus
A Good Samaritan is not simply one whose heart is touched in an immediate act of care and charity, but one who provides a system of sustained care. ~ James A. Forbes
Palliative Care quotes by James A. Forbes
I reckon that's the one thing you and I have in common - we both care about Em."
She gave him a small smile. "And we both have naturally charming dispositions."
His lips curved a little at her sarcasm. "That, too. ~ Kady Cross
Palliative Care quotes by Kady Cross
I wouldn't mind spending a little more time and effort and money on good skin care. And I'm sure they'll come out with, as they are doing, with more and more treatments that are noninvasive and healthy ways to keep your face looking as good as it can. ~ Catherine O'Hara
Palliative Care quotes by Catherine O'Hara
I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change. ~ Jim Rohn
Palliative Care quotes by Jim Rohn
All great leaders are challengers. Don´t confuse with stubborn. You are not stubborn, but you are challenger. When you are sure what is right, you have to struggle all your best to challenge it. Don´t care with low life people around think abet you; they are in the low level. Go ahead to the point you wish please. I really appreciate you. ~ Khem Veasna
Palliative Care quotes by Khem Veasna
For us to feel good emotionally, we have to look after ourselves. ~ Sam Owen
Palliative Care quotes by Sam Owen
Now that she is gone, I suppose there is no one left to care about it. " "That's not true Camille. I care." The woman looked at her with wonder in her eyes. ~ Sara Elaine Violet
Palliative Care quotes by Sara Elaine Violet
I do not care to listen; obloquy injures my self-esteem and I am skeptical of praise. ~ Jack Vance
Palliative Care quotes by Jack Vance
Now, when you shit, as you first sit down, you're not fully in the experience yet. You are not yet a shitting person. You're transitioning from a person about to shit to a person who is shitting. You don't whip out your smartphone or a newspaper right away. It takes a minute to get the first shit out of the way and get in the zone and get comfortable. Once you reach that moment, that's when it gets really nice. It's a powerful experience, shitting. There's something magical about it, profound even. I think God made humans shit in the way we do because it brings us back down to earth and gives us humility. I don't care who you are, we all shit the same. Beyoncé shits. The pope shits. The Queen of England shits. When we shit we forget our airs and our graces, we forget how famous or how rich we are. All of that goes away. You are never more yourself than when you are taking a shit. You have a moment where you realize "This is me, this is who I am". You can pee without giving it a second thought, but not so with shitting. Have you ever looked in a baby's eyes when it's shitting? It's having a moment of pure self-awareness. ~ Trevor Noah
Palliative Care quotes by Trevor Noah
Animals were both the lives I took care of and the lives who took care of me. ~ Lucy Grealy
Palliative Care quotes by Lucy Grealy
Tens of billions of dollars could be saved in Medicare and Medicaid alone by eliminate fraud and improving patient care. Not only would this save money, but it will save lives. ~ Tim Murphy
Palliative Care quotes by Tim Murphy
Pause for a moment and think , when was the last time when you were happy? When you were content? When everything you had was enough? As humans we thrive in community, so therefore; defeat being shunned. So we scramble about, searching for the next big thing to impress people with, searching for some way to stay on top. So we create these 'standards' that we have to meet, something that allows us to say that we're good enough. And that's why Christ is such a good father, he doesn't set standards that we have to meet, he doesn't say 'I only love you, if you followed my commandments this week.' Or 'I only accept you, if you haven't sinned in a while' he says 'I don't care, how bad you messed up, I don't care how unclean or unworthy you are. I love you and therefore you are worthy and of more value to me than the whole earth and all it's riches. You can try but you can never meet my standards, because they are none. ~ Jay~
Palliative Care quotes by Jay~
While Free Choice Vouchers didn't fulfill my vision of a health care system in which every American would be empowered to hire and fire their insurance company, they were a foothold for choice and competition and a safety valve for Americans whose employers are already forcing them to bear more and more of their family's health insurance costs. ~ Ron Wyden
Palliative Care quotes by Ron Wyden
I displayed, or usually displayed, all those traits deemed essential to job readiness: punctuality, cleanliness, cheerfulness, obedience. These are the qualities that welfare-to-work job-training programs often seek to inculcate, though I suspect that most welfare recipients already possess them, or would if their child care and transportation problems were solved. ~ Barbara Ehrenreich
Palliative Care quotes by Barbara Ehrenreich
Take Hispanic voters. They favor Democrats because they like the party's programs, from health care reform to government spending on education. It's not because the Republicans don't have a big enough Office of Hispanic Outreach. ~ Gail Collins
Palliative Care quotes by Gail Collins
I always tell her I don't care what's normal after what happened; I just want normal - without qualifiers. I want to open my closet, pull on any outfit, and not obsess about people thinking I'm asking for it. ~ Patty Blount
Palliative Care quotes by Patty Blount
I do not write this in a spirit of sourness or personal disappointment of any kind, nor do I have any romantic attachment to suffering as a source of insight or virtue. On the contrary, I would like to see more smiles, more laughter, more hugs, more happiness and, better yet, joy. In my own vision of utopia, there is not only more comfort, and security for everyone - better jobs, health care, and so forth - there are also more parties, festivities, and opportunities for dancing in the streets. Once our basic material needs are met - in my utopia, anyway - life becomes a perpetual celebration in which everyone has a talent to contribute. But we cannot levitate ourselves into that blessed condition by wishing it. We need to brace ourselves for a struggle against terrifying obstacles, both of our own making and imposed by the natural world. And the first step is to recover from the mass delusion that is positive thinking. ~ Barbara Ehrenreich
Palliative Care quotes by Barbara Ehrenreich
Nigeria has moved into low-middle-income, but their north is very poor, and the health care systems there have broken down. ~ Bill Gates
Palliative Care quotes by Bill Gates
Let me tell you the truth: You are enough. You are more than enough. God made you, and God does not make junk. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." (Ps. 139:13) You are not just a body; you are a body and a soul. You have an inmost being that does not come from your parents, from the physical DNA that they gave you, but from God Almighty who breathed life specially and intentionally into your very self. Not only did God create you, He continues to care for you and watch over you. "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid." (Luke 12:7) ~ Leah Darrow
Palliative Care quotes by Leah Darrow
Advertisers are happy to see the stuff they've branded out there for free, they don't care about scarcity, they want any message they're invested in to be shared and to be abundant and to be passed along. ~ Astra Taylor
Palliative Care quotes by Astra Taylor
How do we change the way science is taught?
Ask anybody how many teachers truly made a difference in their life, and you never come up with more than the fingers on one hand. You remember their names, you remember what they did, you remember how they moved in front of the classroom. You know why you remember them? Because they were passionate about the subject. You remember them because they lit a flame within you. They got you excited about a subject you didn't previously care about, because they were excited about it themselves. That's what turns people on to careers in science and engineering and mathematics. That's what we need to promote. Put that in every classroom, and it will change the world. ~ Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Palliative Care quotes by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
In modern life, people tend to think their bodies belong to them, that they can do anything they want to themselves. But your body is not only yours. Your body belongs to your ancestors, your parents, and future generations. It also belongs to society and to all the other living beings. The trees, the clouds, the soil, and every living thing brought about the presence of your body. We can eat with care, knowing we are caretakers of our bodies, rather than their owners. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Palliative Care quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
When you get to sing with someone you care about, it's magical. ~ Vanessa Hudgens
Palliative Care quotes by Vanessa Hudgens
Why can't a young lady, learn how to cook, clean and wash clothes so she can learn how to take care of herself? It is imperative that a young lady should know how to love and take care of herself first before she feels she can love and take care of anyone else.
That is where the mistakes begin. A young lady is brought up to put others first. This is when a woman grows up and plays the fool for others because her self-worth was never built on solid ground. Instead, it was built on being a "people pleaser" and putting her life on the back burner.
Consequently, her feelings didn't matter, and her thoughts didn't exist because for so long she was taught to put other people before herself. The question that is never asked is, what happens when a woman (who was once a young lady groomed to give every ounce of herself) loses herself to the point where she has to find a way to dig herself out of the deepest hole? This seems impossible. She doesn't know how because she wasn't ever taught how to express her feelings, troubles, and/or grieve. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Palliative Care quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
But the real secret to lifelong good health is actually the opposite: Let your body take care of you. ~ Deepak Chopra
Palliative Care quotes by Deepak Chopra
To more applause and whistling, Lavinia approached the rostrum and got her new badge of office. She hugged Frank and Hazel, which wasn't the usual military protocol, but no one seemed to care. Nobody clapped louder or whistled more shrilly than Meg. I know because she left me deaf in one ear.
'Thanks, guys,' Lavinia announced. 'So, Fifth Cohort,, first we're going to learn to tap-dance. Then -'
'Thank you, Centurion,' Hazel said. 'You may be seated.'
'What? I'm not kidding -'
'On to our next order of business!' Frank said, as Lavinia skipped grumpily (if that's even possible) back to her seat. ~ Rick Riordan
Palliative Care quotes by Rick Riordan
You're in there somewhere." He tapped at her collarbone. "You'll pop out again when-Well,when the time is right. But for now, you've slipped entirely inside your past. Like a cute little turtle in a borrowed shell.Except it's more than that. When you're in Lys's body, your very beings are entwined, so all sorts of good stuff comes with the package. Her memories, her passions, her manners-lucky for you.Of course, you also have to grapple with her shortcomings. This one,if I recall, puts her foot in her mouth with some regularity. So watch out."
"Amazing," Luce whispered. "So if I could just find Daniel,I'd be able to feel exactly what she feels toward him."
"Sure,I guess, but you do realize that once I snap my fingers,Lys has obligations at this ball that don't include Daniel. This isn't really his scene, and by that I mean,no way the guards would let a poor stable boy in here."
Luce didn't care about any of that. Poor stable boy or not,she would find him. She couldn't wait. Inside Lys's body she could even hold him, maybe even kiss him.The anticipation of it was almost overwhelming.
"Hello?" Bill flicked a hard finger against her temple. "You ready yet? Get in there, see what you can see-then get out while the getting's good, if you know what I mean."
Luce nodded. She straightened Lsys's black gown and held her head a little higher. "Snap to it."
"And...go." Bill snapped his fingers. ~ Lauren Kate
