Once, very long ago, Time fell in love with Fate. This, as you might imagine, proved problematic. Their romance disrupted the flow of time. It tangled the strings of fortune into knots. The stars watched from the heavens nervously, worrying what might occur. What might happen to the days and nights were time to suffer a broken heart? What catastrophes might result if the same fate awaited Fate itself? The stars conspired and separated the two. For a while they breathed easier in the heavens. Time continued to flow as it always had, or perhaps imperceptibly slower. Fate weaved together the paths that were meant to intertwine, though perhaps a string was missed here and there. But eventually, Fate and Time found each other again. In the heavens, the stars sighed, twinkling and fretting. They asked the Moon her advice. The Moon in turn called upon the parliament of owls to decide how best to proceed. The parliament of owls convened to discuss the matter amongst themselves night after night. They argued and debated while the world slept around them, and the world continued to turn, unaware that such important matters were under discussion while it slumbered. The parliament of owls came to the logical conclusion that if the problem was in the combination, one of the elements should be removed. They chose to keep the one they felt more important. The parliament of owls told their decision to the stars and the stars agreed. The Moon did not, but on this night she was dark and cou ~ Erin Morgenstern
Owl King quotes by Erin Morgenstern
If the Negro is to achieve the goal of integration, he must organize himself into a militant and nonviolent mass movement. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Owl King quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
If you can't fly, run; if you can't run, walk; if you can't walk, crawl.-Martin Luther King ~ Chrissie Wellington
Owl King quotes by Chrissie Wellington
The monster, Hitler, died like Uther, frightened, hiding, haunted by his crimes and his wholly reasonable belief that all decent human beings would turn their backs on him. Who really cares where Hitler's bones lie, or how he died, as long as he is safely dead? Now, in the twenty-first century, Karl Marx's grave in a London cemetery is no longer a rallying cry to the poisoned idea that the end justifies the means. We shall never know for certain where Arthur lies, or if he even lived. If he was a myth, then it was necessary for human beings to invent him. Hail, Arthur, King of the Britons! I wish another hero would take your place, now that the west has such a need of you. ~ M.K. Hume
Owl King quotes by M.K. Hume
In every age and every generation, men have envisioned a promised land. Some may have envisioned it with the wrong ideology, with the wrong philosophical presupposition. But men in every generation thought in terms of some promised land. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Owl King quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Books keep you company when you're alone. They're your friends through a rainy day. ~ Owl
Owl King quotes by Owl
The serpent, the king, the tiger, the stinging wasp, the small child, the dog owned by other people, and the fool: these seven ought not to be awakened from sleep. ~ Chanakya
Owl King quotes by Chanakya
The gate is the key to the kingdom. ~ Stephen King
Owl King quotes by Stephen King
...The underlying motive for the French wars [of 1562-1598] was not religious, but dynastic. By the mid-16th century, the Valois family of kings, who had ruled France since 1328, was losing its grasp on political power. Valois King Henry II died in 1559, leaving four sons, all too young or too feeble to rule alone, and three rival noble families, all eager to seize power. One, the Guise (who had married into the royal family), were Catholic; their enemies, the Bourbon and the (more moderate) Montmerency, were Protestant. The Bourbon, in particular, were supported by the many small local Protestant churches that had been set up in France by supporters of Calvin's teachings. Unlike Protestants in England or Germany, they were not controlled by powerful rulers or city councils; some were prepared to use violence and other forms of lawlessness to further Protestant reform. Concerned by this threat to public order, and continuing the Valois' kings generally hostile policy toward reform, in 1562 the Guise ordered the massacre of 74 Protestants at a church service. ~ Fiona MacDonald
Owl King quotes by Fiona MacDonald
Sure, best seller. I'd love to knock Stephen King off the top of the list. I know I won't, but, after all, I spend my life inventing a different reality. ~ Tim O'Brien
Owl King quotes by Tim O'Brien
You must consider every man your enemy who speaks ill of your King, and you must treat every Frenchman as if he were the Devil himself. ~ Horatio Nelson
Owl King quotes by Horatio Nelson
Gordie: Alright, alright, Mickey's a mouse, Donald's a duck, Pluto's a dog. What's Goofy?
Vern: If I could only have one food for the rest of my life? That's easy-Pez. Cherry-flavored Pez. No question about it.
Teddy: Goofy's a dog. He's definitely a dog.
Gordie: I knew the $64,000 question was fixed. There's no way anybody could know that much about opera!
Chris: He can't be a dog. He drives a car and wears a hat.
Gordie: Wagon Train's a really cool show, but did you notice they never get anywhere? They just keep wagon training.
Vern: Oh, God. That's weird. What the hell is Goofy? ~ Stephen King
Owl King quotes by Stephen King
Let it never be said by future generations that indifference, cynicism or selfishness made us fail to live up to the ideals of humanism which the Nobel Peace Prize encapsulates. Let the strivings of us all, prove Martin Luther King Jr. to have been correct, when he said that humanity can no longer be tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war. ~ Nelson Mandela
Owl King quotes by Nelson Mandela
A good quote is worth a thousand words. ~ Jonathan King
Owl King quotes by Jonathan King
As the exalting one man so greatly above the rest cannot be justified on the equal rights of nature, so neither can it be defended on the authority of scripture; for the will of the Almighty, as declared by Gideon and the prophet Samuel, expressly disapproves of government by kings. All anti-monarchical parts of scripture have been very smoothly glossed over in monarchical governments, but they undoubtedly merit the attention of countries which have their governments yet to form. "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's" is the scripture doctrine of courts, yet it is no support of monarchical government, for the Jews at that time were without a king, and in a state of vassalage to the Romans. ~ Thomas Paine
Owl King quotes by Thomas Paine
What's been tried once had been tried once before ... and before ... and before ... ~ Stephen King
Owl King quotes by Stephen King
I have quite a few different Bibles. Having rejected my parents' religion, I still think the King James Bible is the most important work of literature in English. None of us can help being influenced by it. ~ Ken Follett
Owl King quotes by Ken Follett
I mean," he said, "that by your own showing, the greatest threat to heaven comes from within the ranks of the angels themselves. Before you can prove to me that heroes can defeat villains with nothing but the purest chivalric ideals, you must convince me that heroes do exist, and that villains are not a fanciful tale for children. You must tell me, sir, if you dare, that you are incorruptible, and that your colleagues and commanders are as pure as you. ~ Suzannah Rowntree
Owl King quotes by Suzannah Rowntree
Am I weird?"

"Yeah. But so what? Everybody's weird. ~ Stephen King
Owl King quotes by Stephen King
Most people want Jesus as a consultant rather than a King, and He does not come that way. ~ Timothy Keller
Owl King quotes by Timothy Keller
Called to the throne of my fathers, I have taken over the government, looking to the King of all kings, and have vowed to God, following the example of my father, to be a righteous and gentle prince, to foster piety and the fear of God, to maintain peace, to further the welfare of the country, to be a help to the poor and oppressed, and to be to the righteous man a true protector. ~ Wilhelm II
Owl King quotes by Wilhelm II
It please her to think that she made a better king than Robert. ~ George R R Martin
Owl King quotes by George R R Martin
An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Owl King quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
My son the general!" King Tiberias booms, his proud voice cutting through the din of the party. For a second, when he pulls Cal close, putting an arm around his son, I forget he's a king. I almost understand Cal's need to please him. What would I give to see my mother look at me like that, back when I was nothing but a thief? What would I give now? This world is Silver, but it is also gray. There is no black-and-white. ~ Victoria Aveyard
Owl King quotes by Victoria Aveyard
-The timekiller?!
-Who is the killer?
-The time?
-Or the killer?
The answer is like a king in a pathless position on the chessboard. The answer is an eternel looser. It's fate is sealed up in the testament of Hades. The killer is mortal and he can't testify forever, but the time is biased, one-sided, partial, because it is timeless and a constant winner.
So, the circle is closed.
The game is over-checkmate! ~ Hristo Krstevski
Owl King quotes by Hristo Krstevski
Right now I'm scoring goals and I'm the king of the world. And a couple weeks ago I was almost in the toilet. So maybe you just forget to flush me. ~ Alexander Ovechkin
Owl King quotes by Alexander Ovechkin
A productive and happy life is not something you find; it is something you make. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Owl King quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
I think that Billie (Jean King) and Zina (Garrison), they have a whole lot of experience. Even if I don't quite agree with something or have a different way of doing it this week, whatever they said, I did it right away and I found out that it was correct. I think that's helped a lot ... I'm having fun. I had a lot of fun out there. Sometimes I was ready to smile
but I knew I'd lose focus
because I was doing things that I'd done in practice and we talked about. I was ready to laugh and give someone a high-five, but it wasn't time for that. ~ Venus Williams
Owl King quotes by Venus Williams
Men will see in their king or in their rulers men like themselves perhaps unworthy or open to criticism, but they will not on that account refuse obedience if they see reflected in them the authority of Christ, God and Man. Peace and harmony, too, will result; for with the spread and the universal extension of the kingdom of Christ, men will become more and more conscious of the link that binds them together, and thus many conflicts will either be prevented entirely or at least their bitterness be diminished. ~ Pope Pius XI
Owl King quotes by Pope Pius XI
Nature is so lucky. People can look at it and think nothing. No one analyzes it. No one blames it. No one underestimates it. Most people respect it. When we look at an ocean after an oil spill, we don't smirk and say, "Well, look at this shithole you are now!" We pity it. We wish it hadn't happened. We hope it gets better and that the fish who live there don't die or grow babies who have two heads. Maybe if we all saw ourselves as nature, we'd be kinder. ~ A.S. King
Owl King quotes by A.S. King
A strange thing,' she said. 'They both wear this same badge. Two bears on a black and gold shield. Anyone know what that means?' 'It's the badge of King Verence,' said Magrat. 'Who's he?' said Granny Weatherwax. 'He rules this country,' said Magrat. 'Oh. That king,' said Granny, as if the matter was hardly worth noting. ~ Terry Pratchett
Owl King quotes by Terry Pratchett
Surely no rebel can expect the King to pardon his treason while he remains in open revolt. No one can be so foolish as to imagine that the Judge of all the earth will put away our sins if we refuse to put them away ourselves. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Owl King quotes by Charles Haddon Spurgeon
If anybody would make me the greatest king that ever lived, with palaces, and gardens and fine dinners, and wine, and coaches, and beautiful clothes, and hundreds of servants, on condition that I would not read books, I would not be a king. ~ Thomas B. Macaulay
Owl King quotes by Thomas B. Macaulay
We need some remedial training on how to live as subjects in a kingdom. We may be justified in rejecting the divine right of kings to rule but we cannot be justified if we reject the rule of our divine king. ~ Joe Carter
Owl King quotes by Joe Carter
No one can understand my conflict who has not looked into the eyes of those he loves, knowing that he has no alternative but to take a dangerous stand that leaves them tormented. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Owl King quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Here is what you do, friends. Forget country. Forget king. Forget wife and children and freedom. Forget every concept, however noble, that you imagine you fight for here today. Act for this alone: for the man who stands at your shoulder. He is everything, and everything is contained within him. That is all I know. That is all I can tell you.
Dienekes at Thermopylae ~ Steven Pressfield
Owl King quotes by Steven Pressfield
If Pete Simmons had been twenty, he might have asked a lot of bullshit questions that didn't matter. ~ Stephen King
Owl King quotes by Stephen King
Dining with the King; your attire, attitude and mentality must change. ~ Jaachynma N.E. Agu
Owl King quotes by Jaachynma N.E. Agu
Some people in the church, like Martin Luther King, Jr., came out against segregation. But if you look at the bulk of organized religion, you will discover that it endorsed slavery and quoted the Bible to approve it; the Pope even owned slaves. ~ John Shelby Spong
Owl King quotes by John Shelby Spong
It is unfortunate that demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham, but it is even more unfortunate that the city's white power structure left the Negro community with no alternative. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
