How to Perform Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Make sure you are wearing loose clothing and that you remove your shoes. Sit in a comfortable chair with your body fully supported.
First, tense all the muscles in the area you are targeting. Concentrate on how tight they feel. Next, relax the muscles that were just tensed. Imagine they have turned to jelly and concentrate on how limp and loose they feel. When that muscle group is completely relaxed, move on to the next area. It is recommended that you work all the major muscle groups in your body, listed as follows. When you have finished, keep your eyes closed for a few seconds, then get up slowly.

The hit-woman opened the door. No dead body on the floor. Thank God.
I heard an unearthly roar and then Jordan charged Liz from where she'd been hiding beside the door. She tackled her to the floor and stabbed her through the wrist with a small switchblade. The hit-woman shrieked and let go of the gun, allowing Jordan precious seconds to bat it across the room. She landed a couple hard punches to the assassin's nose, bloodying it, before the other woman got the upper hand.
She grabbed a handful of Jordan's ponytail and slammed her head into the edge of the coffee table. Jordan cried out, but didn't let go of the knife. She withdrew it and held it against the assassin's throat, shouting, "Move again and I'll kill you, puta!"
Liz panted madly, but stayed put. Jordan glanced up at me. "You okay?"
"Alive," I said through a grimace. "Not okay."
"Good enough." She returned her gaze to the woman pinned beneath her and glared.
"The police are on their way. And not the nice, human police. Angels. Get any ideas about trying to kill me again and you won't even get to deal with them."
"I've been in jail before," Liz said, attempting to recapture her former arrogance. "I'll get over it."
Jordan leaned down a few inches, lowering her voice. "Really? How'd you like to return without your tongue?"
Liz's eyes went wide, as did mine. "You wouldn't dare."
"You shot my best friend. Multiple times. Lex talionis."

The cold from the glass seeps through my shirt, and I shiver. Uriah and Christina walk through the door to the dormitory, laughing about something. Uriah's clear eyes and steady footsteps fill me with a sense of relief, and my eyes well up with tears all of a sudden. He and Christina both look alarmed, and they lean against the windows on either side of me.
"You okay?" she says.
I nod and blink the tears away. "Where have you guys been today?"
"After the plane ride we went and watched the screens in the control room for a while," Uriah says. "It's really weird to see what they're up to now that we're gone. Just more of the same--Evelyn's a jerk, so are all her lackeys, and so on--but it was like getting a news report."
"I don't think I'd like to look at those," I say. "Too…creepy and invasive."
Uriah shrugs. "I don't know, if they want to watch me scratch my butt or eat dinner, I feel like that says more about them than about me."
I laugh. "How often are you scratching your butt, exactly?"
He jostles me with his elbow.
"Not to derail the conversation from butts, which we can all agree is incredibly important--" Christina smiles a little. "But I'm with you, Tris. Just watching those screens made me feel awful, like I was doing something sneaky. I think I'll be staying away from now on. ~ Veronica Roth

Gabe? Are you listening to me? Gabe?"

Her hands go to her hips. "I said, are you listening to me."
"Honestly, no. I can see your nipples through your top, and it's really distracting."

Dad shook his head. "Your mother took a Mustang. I took a whiskey bottle." He reached up and readjusted his glasses, an unconscious habit-he always did it when he was making a point. "I was so devastated by what your mother did to me that I forgot how horrible drinking is. I forgot to look on the bright side."
"Dad," I said, "I don't think there is a bright side to divorce. It's a pretty sucky thing all around."
He nodded. "Maybe that's true, but there are a lot of bright sides to my life. I have a job I like, a nice house in a good neighborhood, and a wonderful daughter."
I rolled my eyes. "Oh God," I muttered. "Don't go all Lifetime movie on me. Seriously."
"I'm sorry," he said, smiling. "But I mean it. A lot of people would kill for my life, but I didn't even consider that. I took it-and you-for granted. I'm so, so sorry for that, Bumblebee. ~ Kody Keplinger
