Help the world grow, put her on the road of achievement by contributing your quotas ~ Ndianabasi Anderson
On The Road quotes by Ndianabasi Anderson
Don't hate on someone whose hard work placed them on the road to success, while your envy and ill-intent put you on a path toward failure. ~ Carlos Wallace
On The Road quotes by Carlos Wallace
Men are going to go out on the road and they're going to find other women. So if you really want to save yourself a whole lot of heartache, do not fall in love with somebody in a band. Just don't. ~ Stevie Nicks
On The Road quotes by Stevie Nicks
Why did so many teenagers fall for Stanley Horowitz's tricks?"
"These were impressionable teenagers," Nick explained. "Many of them were devoted fans of romantic Vampyre stories. They over-romanticized what it means to be a Vampyre, and that gave Stanley a way to manipulate them."
"I've read Twilight," Tamara said. "My daughter is a huge fan. Is she in any danger?"
"The danger arises from wanting to belong to the in crowd so badly, you lose sight of what's real and what's fantasy."
"Surely today's teenagers know that vampires are fantasy," Tamara said.
"Possibly. But remember, Vampyres are not romantic. Vampyres are dead. They are walking reminders of tragedy. Loving one is necrophilia. And wanting to be one is the first step on the road to catastrophe. ~ Abramelin Keldor
On The Road quotes by Abramelin Keldor
Revenge can only be found on the road to self-destruction. ~ Wayne Gerard Trotman
On The Road quotes by Wayne Gerard Trotman
I left home and tried to live the life of a hermit, but I was still fighting myself. I went to England and worked as a chainman on the road. It was better therapy than the shrinks. Building a two-mile road gave me internal peace. ~ Brian Strang
On The Road quotes by Brian Strang
Oh, don't pull your hand away from me, I've promised myself that maybe by the end of this impossible narrative I shall understand, oh maybe it will be on Hell's road that I shall be able to find what we need - but don't pull your hand away, even though I now know that the finding has to come on the road of what we are, if I can succeed in not sinking completely into what we are. ~ Clarice Lispector
On The Road quotes by Clarice Lispector
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 1o) can he interpreted mystically in such a way that the question of the knowledge of God becomes its focus. The priest and the Levite, who walk past the man who fell among robbers and was seriously hurt, are pious God-fearing persons. They "know" God and the law of God. They have God the same way that the one who knows has that which is known. They know what God wants them to be and do. They also know where God is to he found, in the scriptures and the cult of the temple. For them, God is mediated through the existing institutions. They have their God - one who is not to he found on the road between Jerusalem and Jericho.

What is wrong with this knowledge of God? The problem is not the knowledge of the Torah or the knowledge of the temple. (It is absurd to read an anti-Judaistic meaning into a story of the Jew Jesus, since it could just as well have come from Hillel or another Jewish teacher.) What is false is a knowledge of God that does not allow for any unknowing or any negative theology. Because both actors know that God is "this," they do not see "that." Hence the Good Samaritan is the anti-fundamentalist story par excellence.

"And so I ask God to rid me of God," Meister Eckhart says. The God who is known and familiar is too small for him. ~ Dorothee Solle
On The Road quotes by Dorothee Solle
The traveler must be born again on the road, and earn a passport from the elements. ~ Henry David Thoreau
On The Road quotes by Henry David Thoreau
The millionaire says to a thousand people, 'I read this book and it started me on the road to wealth.' Guess how many go out and get the book? Very few. Isn't that incredible? Why wouldn't everyone get the book?! ~ Jim Rohn
On The Road quotes by Jim Rohn
When you live on the road, going home is a place to escape and just be with your family to unwind. ~ Jonathan Davis
On The Road quotes by Jonathan Davis
You can't stop us on the road to freedom, you can't stop us cause our eyes can see. ~ Van Morrison
On The Road quotes by Van Morrison
Records are very powerful promotional tools to go out and be able to play on the road, but you do have to think about it as a way of sustaining itself at some point. ~ Lyle Lovett
On The Road quotes by Lyle Lovett
Andrew Carnegie loved libraries; he knew their importance to an educated society and as anchors to our communities. And so, just as some loyal baseball fans travel to attend games at all 30 major league stadiums, over the last decade or so, I have slowly, casually, visited Carnegie libraries whenever I am on the road. ~ Sam Weller
On The Road quotes by Sam Weller
I explain my gender by saying I am happiest on the road when I'm not here or there, but in between, that yellow line coming down the center of it all like a goddamn sunbeam. ~ Andrea Gibson
On The Road quotes by Andrea Gibson
Dwindling slowly on the road behind him like some storybook peddler from an antique time, dark and bent and spider thin and soon to vanish forever. ~ Cormac McCarthy
On The Road quotes by Cormac McCarthy
Unfortunately on the road to Ankh everyone you love must die.
Children of Ankh series ~ Kim Cormack
On The Road quotes by Kim Cormack
My wife loves me but she don't like me. I'm still in the trenches every day. I'm still buildin' my name, and it's growin' rapidly, but not fast enough to where I can relax at home with my kids and my wife. I'm always on the road, 3 months at a time, 6 months at a time. ~ Aaron Dontez Yates
On The Road quotes by Aaron Dontez Yates
It's pretty amazing to see a guy, while steering at the wheel, suddenly raise his little 300 dollar German camera with one hand and snap something that's on the move in front of him, and through an unwashed windshield at that. (On the road with Robert Frank, 1958) ~ Jack Kerouac
On The Road quotes by Jack Kerouac
Sometimes it's hard to eat healthy on the road, especially on the days when we play fairs and festivals! There is lots of fried temptation there, and it's hard for this Southern girl to turn down some good fried food. ~ Kimberly Schlapman
On The Road quotes by Kimberly Schlapman
For a brief moment I thought that Stanley the Magical Squirrel had been alive up until only seconds before, when my father had chosen to give him some sort of bizarre colorectal exam gone horribly wrong. Then I realized that this was, more likely, a squirrel my father had found dead on the road, and that he had sliced it open and decided to use it as some sort of grotesque hand puppet culled from the very bowels of hell. Lisa ~ Jenny Lawson
On The Road quotes by Jenny Lawson
There are no speed limits on the road to success. ~ David W. Johnson
On The Road quotes by David W. Johnson
When you live a life devoid of ritual and convention, with honesty and self-effacement, then you are on the road to freedom. ~ Frederick Lenz
On The Road quotes by Frederick Lenz
You have to spend a lot more time on the road these days if you want to make a living with music. ~ Scott Weiland
On The Road quotes by Scott Weiland
Because I wanted you." He turned from the window to face me. "More than I ever wanted anything in my life," he added softly.

I continued staring at him, dumbstruck. Whatever I had been expecting, it wasn't this. Seeing my openmouthed expression, he continued lightly. "When I asked my da how ye knew which was the right woman, he told me when the time came, I'd have no doubt. And I didn't. When I woke in the dark under that tree on the road to Leoch, with you sitting on my chest, cursing me for bleeding to death, I said to myself, 'Jamie Fraser, for all ye canna see what she looks like, and for all she weighs as much as a good draft horse, this is the woman'"

I started toward him, and he backed away, talking rapidly. "I said to myself, 'She's mended ye twice in as many hours, me lad; life amongst the MacKenzies being what it is, it might be as well to wed a woman as can stanch a wound and set broken bones.' And I said to myself, 'Jamie, lad, if her touch feels so bonny on your collarbone, imagine what it might feel like lower down...'"

He dodged around a chair. "Of course, I thought it might ha' just been the effects of spending four months in a monastery, without benefit of female companionship, but then that ride through the dark together"--he paused to sigh theatrically, neatly evading my grab at his sleeve--"with that lovely broad arse wedged between my thighs"--he ducked a blow aimed at his left ear and sidestepped, getting a low table betw ~ Diana Gabaldon
On The Road quotes by Diana Gabaldon
I couldn't trust you with it. To do something with it. I don't want anybody talking about me. To say where I was or what I said when I was there. I mean, you could talk about me maybe. But nobody could say that it was me. I could be anybody. I think in times like these the less said the better. If something had happened and we were survivors and we met on the road then we'd have something to talk about. But we're not. So we don't. ~ Cormac McCarthy
On The Road quotes by Cormac McCarthy
I'm still convinced. We all fight for freedom, but the foundation of freedom is equality and justice. And we are all on the road. ~ Evo Morales
On The Road quotes by Evo Morales
We then came to the Soviet Union. One day we were walking and carrying our banner and distributing a few leaflets in Russian to people, and we met two women on the road. ~ Satish Kumar
On The Road quotes by Satish Kumar
Hey you ! out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me
Hey you ! Standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles, can you feel me
Hey you ! don't help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you ! out there on your own
sitting naked by the phone would you touch me
Hey you ! with your ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out would you touch me
Hey you ! would you help me to carry the stone
Open your heart, I'm coming home
But it was only a fantasy
The wall was too high as you can see
No matter how he tried he could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain.
Hey you ! out there on the road
Always doing what you're told, can you help me
Hey you ! out there beyond the wall
Breaking bottles in the hall, can you help me
Hey you ! don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall. ~ Pink Floyd
On The Road quotes by Pink Floyd
Indeed, the zeal of Boston's rank-and-file marathoners rivaled, and in some ways echoed, the religious passion of Nathaniel Howe and his congregation. The runners indulged in orgies of self-denial-running 100 miles a week, working junk )ohs in order to have time to train, paying their own way to races, banding together in ascetic cells, forgoing the temptations of an idolatrous world in order to attain grace and salvation out on the road. As in Puritan New England, grace was not blithely attained. A believer-a runner-earned it by losing toenails and training down to bone and muscle, just as the Puritans formed calluses on their knees from
praying. No one made a cent from their strenuous efforts. The running life, like the spiritual life, was its own reward. ~ John Brant
On The Road quotes by John Brant
I don't read books. I read 'On the Road' in high school, and that was awesome, so I guess that's my favorite book. 'To Kill a Mockingbird,' even though I didn't read it, that's the greatest story. SparkNotes came in when I was in high school, and that was the greatest invention. ~ Meghan Trainor
On The Road quotes by Meghan Trainor
I really didn't even have time to get that many lessons, to be honest, because I was suddenly on the road. I was kind of thrown in the deep end. But that wasn't a bad thing when I look back at it. ~ Caroline Corr
On The Road quotes by Caroline Corr
When you're touring and if you go to a party, there's automatically a celebrity-audience distance. It follows you around, especially when you're on the road in small towns. Any time there is awe, it gets very difficult to be normal, to be yourself. But I'm not saying that that's what made me the way I am. I've probably always been distant. ~ Steve Martin
On The Road quotes by Steve Martin
One common puzzle for the security-minded is how to work with confidential data on the road. Sometimes you can't bring your laptop, or don't want to. But working on somebody else's machine exposes you to malware and leaves behind all kinds of electronic trails. ~ Barton Gellman
On The Road quotes by Barton Gellman
me - everything might just explode. I keep my eyes on the road. "You know what I like about you, Ultraviolet Remarkey-able? Everything." "But I thought you didn't like me." And then I look at her. She raises an eyebrow at me. I ~ Jennifer Niven
On The Road quotes by Jennifer Niven
If we can get that realistic feminine morality working for us, if we can trust ourselves and so let women think and feel that an unwanted child or an oversize family is wrong
not ethically wrong, not against the rules, but morally wrong, all wrong, wrong like a thalidomide birth, wrong like taking a wrong step that will break your neck
if we can get feminine and human morality out from under the yoke of a dead ethic, then maybe we'll begin to get somewhere on the road that leads to survival. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
On The Road quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
CHAPTER VIII OLIVER WALKS TO LONDON. HE ENCOUNTERS ON THE ROAD, A STRANGE SORT OF YOUNG GENTLEMAN ~ Charles Dickens
On The Road quotes by Charles Dickens
I think we're a deeper team, a better team, we still have work to do ... nothing is guaranteed, but hopefully we got the mentality to play on the road, and we're starting to get our home thing back in order now-if we can do that we'll be just fine. ~ Karl Malone
On The Road quotes by Karl Malone
The hardest thing you can do is smile when you are ill, in pain, or depressed. But this no-cost remedy is a necessary first half-step if you are to start on the road to recovery. ~ Allen Klein
On The Road quotes by Allen Klein
I'm try[ing] to catch up on my work and you know I keep my eyes on the road, but I'm a busy man. ~ Rob Ford
On The Road quotes by Rob Ford
The moment this is over, you're mind," Diesel all but groaned, keeping his eyes on the road so he wouldn't pull over and take her right there.
"No, wolf, you're mine."
the look on his face went immediately from lust to yearning.
"That's right," she said with a sigh. "We're going to finish what we started. And then do it all over again. ~ Amanda Carlson
On The Road quotes by Amanda Carlson
His dark eyes were on the road ahead, thoughtful. "No. I was hoping to go back to Tucson and see if I could get this hot chick I know to go out with me. I hear she's in demand, though. She keeps putting me off each time I try to plan something romantic."
"Yeah, well, maybe if you come up with a good itinerary, you could lure her out."
"I was thinking dinner at Joe's."
I made a face. "If that's the case, maybe you'd better brace yourself for rejection."
"Red Pepper Bistro?"
"Okay. Now you're in the zone."
"Followed by a long massage in the sauna."
"That's pretty good too."
"And then indecent things in the sauna."
"I hope you mean you'll be doing the indecent things - because I more than did my share last night."
Kiyo glanced over at me with a mischievous grin. "Who says I'm talking about you? ~ Richelle Mead
On The Road quotes by Richelle Mead
Cold liquid splashing across his face brought Kevin Temple back to himself. He'd been on the road all night, a dedicated run from Indiana hauling a load of fresh vegetables. Fifteen minutes out of the depot in Cleveland, and he had that stale feel, too much coffee washing down too much beef jerky. What he'd really been craving was a double cheeseburger, but while it would surprise no one to see a trucker gone flabby around ~ Marcus Sakey
On The Road quotes by Marcus Sakey
Failures, repeated failures, are finger posts on the road to achievement. One fails forward towards success. ~ C.S. Lewis
On The Road quotes by C.S. Lewis
I don't really care if my clothes are wrinkled or there's a stain on my shirt. Going out on the road, your clothes are dirty. ~ Avril Lavigne
On The Road quotes by Avril Lavigne
Some roads are so beautiful that you cannot know not whether you travel on the road or the road travels in you! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
On The Road quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
If the election had turned out differently, I could be the one overseeing the signing of bailout checks and Vice President Biden could be on the road selling his book 'Going Rogaine.' ~ Sarah Palin
On The Road quotes by Sarah Palin
'On the Road' completely changed the way I looked at what you could do with your life. ~ Rupert Friend
On The Road quotes by Rupert Friend
From 1987 to 1992, I was on the road for 40 weeks a year playing comedy clubs, and that was during the 'comedy boom.' ~ Andy Kindler
On The Road quotes by Andy Kindler
I feel like we have to keep our eyes on the road. Being nostalgic is like taking an offramp and getting a sandwich - and then you get back on the highway. I don't want to be spending the rest of my life at the gas station. ~ Eddie Vedder
On The Road quotes by Eddie Vedder
We been on the road for 18 hours ... I need a bath, some chow ... and then you and me sit down, and we talk about who dies,eh? ~ Al Capone
On The Road quotes by Al Capone
Dear Camryn,

I never wanted it to be this way. I wanted to tell you these things myself, but I was afraid. I was afraid that if I told you out loud that I loved you, that what we had together would die with me. The truth is that I knew in Kansas that you were the one. I've loved you since that day when I first looked up into your eyes as you glared down at me from over the top of that bus seat. Maybe I didn't know it then, but I knew something had happened to me in that moment and I could never let you go.

I have never lived the way I lived during my short time with you. For the first time in my life, I've felt whole, alive, free. You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, the blood in my veins. I think that if past lives are real then we have been lovers in every single one of them. I've known you for a short time, but I feel like I've known you forever.

I want you to know that even in death I'll always remember you. I'll always love you. I wish that things could've turned out differently. I thought of you many nights on the road. I stared up at the ceiling in the motels and pictured what our life might be like together if I had lived. I even got all mushy and thought of you in a wedding dress and even with a mini me in your belly. You know, I always heard that sex is great when you're pregnant. ;-)

But I'm sorry that I had to leave you, Camryn. I'm so sorry…I wish the story of Orpheus and Eurydice was real ~ J.A. Redmerski
On The Road quotes by J.A. Redmerski
The natural world gives us many examples of the great effectiveness of this way. The Chinese philosophy of which judo itself is an expression - Taoism - drew attention to the power of water to overcome all obstacles by its gentleness and pliability. It showed how the supple willow survives the tough pine in a snowstorm, for whereas the unyielding branches of the pine accumulate snow until they crack, the springy boughs of the willow bend under its weight, drop the snow, and jump back again. If, when swimming, you are caught in a strong current, it is fatal to resist. You must swim with it and gradually edge to the side. One who falls from a height with stiff limbs will break them, but if he relaxes like a cat he will fall safely. A building without 'give' in its structure will easily collapse in storm or earthquake, and a car without the cushioning of tires and springs will soon come apart on the road. The mind has just the same powers, for it has give and can absorb shocks like water or a cushion. But this giving way to an opposing force is not at all the same thing as running away. A body of water does not run away when you push it; it simply gives at the point of the push and encloses your hand. A shock absorber does not fall down like a bowling-pin when struck; it gives, and yet stays in the same place. To run away is the only defense of something rigid against an overwhelming force. Therefore the good shock absorber has not only 'give,' but also stability or 'weight. ~ Alan W. Watts
On The Road quotes by Alan W. Watts
Having the baby changed my life a lot. I don't want to go on the road. ~ Cass Elliot
On The Road quotes by Cass Elliot
- I've missed your company these long days. -
What are you even doing here? You stayed away so long, I thought you weren't coming.
- You missed me, and now are piqued. Know that I was obtaining something that guarantees my success with you. -
More coercion?
- A gift for you. That's why I've allowed the mortal leeway and refrained from a slaying. Because you're about to be mine. -
His confidence unsettled me. Good to know you were worried about your wife alone out on the road. You let me make the journey by myself. And face the twins! Though you knew how much they would hate me.
- I felt confident that you and six other Arcana, one of the largest alliances yet, could take out a pair of insignificant carnates. To guard you on your way, I bade Lark to dispatch the wolf. - ~ Kresley Cole
On The Road quotes by Kresley Cole
My father and mother in 1817 were forty-nine days on the road with their emigrant wagons [from Vermont] to Ohio. More than two days for each hour that I spent in the same journey. ~ Rutherford B. Hayes
On The Road quotes by Rutherford B. Hayes
I'm fascinated by the narrative of geology, and I'm a veritable pack rat of a collector on the road. I keep a rock hammer in my car. ~ Marianne Wiggins
On The Road quotes by Marianne Wiggins
This is the real work of woman of color feminism: to resist acquiescence to fatality and guilt, to become warriors of conscience and action who resist death in all its myriad manifestations: poverty, cultural assimilation, child abuse, motherless mothering, gentrification, mental illness, welfare cuts, the prison system, racial profiling, immigrant and queer bashing, invasion and imperialism at home and at war.

To fight any kind of war, Kahente Horn-Miller writes. "The Biggest single requirement is fighting spirit." I thought much of this as I read Colonize This! since this collection appears in print at a time of escalating world-wide war--In Colombia, Afghanistan, Palestine. But is there ever a time of no-war for women of color? Is there ever a time when our home (our body, our land of origin) is not subject to violent occupation, violent invasion? If I retain any image to hold the heart-intention of this book, it is found in what Horn-Miller calls the necessity of the war dance. This book is one rite of passage, one ceremony of preparedness on the road to consciousness, on the "the war path of greater empowerment. ~ Bushra Rehman
On The Road quotes by Bushra Rehman
A man may travel fast enough and earn his living on the road. ~ Henry David Thoreau
On The Road quotes by Henry David Thoreau
observing the way the rig needed only occasional human intervention to stay locked on the road. Doubtless it could have managed with none at all, were it not for local union laws. Very ~ Alastair Reynolds
On The Road quotes by Alastair Reynolds
To evoke another great phrase of the American revolutionary heritage - widely though inconclusively attributed to Thomas Jefferson - the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. Such a phrase is merely trite, however, unless we consider its deeper implications. For the French revolutionaries, as for so many regimes that have succeeded them across the world up to the present day, the call for vigilance against enemies, both external and internal, was the first step on the road to the loss of liberty, and lives.

Of far more significance, and the true and tragic lesson of the epic descent into The Terror, is the summons to vigilance against ourselves - that we should not assume that we are righteous, and our enemies evil; that we can see clearly, and to others are blinded by malice or folly; that we can abrogate the fragile rights of others in the name of our own certainty and all will be well regardless.

If we do not honor the message of human rights born in the revolutions of 1776 and 1786, as the French in their case most certainly failed to do, we too are on the road to The Terror. ~ David Andress
On The Road quotes by David Andress
I think the main thing, don't you, is to keep the show on the road. ~ Elizabeth Bowen
On The Road quotes by Elizabeth Bowen
They were on the highway, lights flashing, sirens blaring.
'Maybe we should go in quietly and not tip him off. Just a suggestion.'
'Just clearing the way. I'll cut the lights and siren before we turn off the highway.'
'I see the heavy traffic,' Lev said. There wasn't a car on the road. ~ Christine Feehan
On The Road quotes by Christine Feehan
I like to go through the zine sections of local bookstores when on the road and have found a lot of really great kind of underground stuff that way. It all feeds into everything else. ~ Jeff VanderMeer
On The Road quotes by Jeff VanderMeer
Royce saw to his horse's needs; then, finding a suitable place, he unrolled his blanket and lay down.

"I take it we're camping here, then?"

Royce said nothing, still refusing to acknowledge his existence.

"You could have said, 'We're going to bed down here for the rest of the night.' No, wait, you're right, too much. How about 'sleeping here'? Two words. Even you could manage that, right? I mean, I know you can talk. You had plenty to say back in Arcadius's office. Couldn't keep the words from coming out then, but no, utterly impossible to indicate in any way that we'll be stopping here for the night."

Hadrian dismounted and began unloading Dancer. "How long were we on the road?" He paused to look up at the moon. "What? Five, six hours? Not a damn word. Getting chilly out, don't you think, Hadrian? Moon looks like a fingernail, ain't that right, Hadrian? That tree looks like a goddamn bear, don't it, Hadrian? Nothing. By the way, in case you hadn't noticed, I was attacked by a goshawk and a pig-riding dwarf that shot eggs at me with a sling. I was knocked from my horse and wrestled with the dwarf, the hawk, and the pig for what had to be half an hour. The dwarf kept smashing eggs in my face, and that ruddy pig pinned me down, licking them off. I only got away because the dwarf ran out of eggs. Then the hawk turned into a moth that became distracted by the light of the moon."
Royce shifted to his side, hood up.

"Yeah, ~ Michael J. Sullivan
On The Road quotes by Michael J. Sullivan
After five or six blocks he pulled around me and, as he flipped me off, juked his steering wheel slightly to frighten me into running up on the sidewalk. Although I admired his spirit and would have loved to oblige him, I stayed on the road. There is never any point in trying to make sense of the way Miami drivers go about getting from one place to another. You just have to relax and enjoy the violence - and of course, that part was never a problem for me. So I smiled and waved, and he stomped on his accelerator and disappeared into traffic at about sixty miles per hour over the speed limit. ~ Jeff Lindsay
On The Road quotes by Jeff Lindsay
A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it. ~ Jean De La Fontaine
On The Road quotes by Jean De La Fontaine
USA Today reports that the number of death row executions this year has hit a 35-year low. They attribute that to DNA evidence clearing more people and the fact that Rick Perry has been on the road campaigning. ~ Jay Leno
On The Road quotes by Jay Leno
I've been on the road I think probably three years. ~ Brad Paisley
On The Road quotes by Brad Paisley
There was one year that I was on the road. ~ Eydie Gorme
On The Road quotes by Eydie Gorme
I'm always on the road, and I drive rental cars. Sometimes I don't know what's going on with the car, and I'll drive for ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it doesn't say a lot for the emergency brake. What kind of emergency is this? I need to not stop now. It's not really an emergency brake, it's an emergency make-the-car-smell-funny lever. ~ Mitch Hedberg
On The Road quotes by Mitch Hedberg
Do not feel lonely on the road of righteousness Because of the fewness of the walkers on it. ~ Ali Ibn Abi Talib
On The Road quotes by Ali Ibn Abi Talib
Maybe happy endings were real, as long as you understood that they weren't endings, but steps on the road. ~ Katharine McGee
On The Road quotes by Katharine McGee
I go out on the road for much longer than I probably should and lose more of myself than I should. ~ Sarah McLachlan
On The Road quotes by Sarah McLachlan
Nothing in this universe is able to complete its travel on the road of infinity! Because the road is very very long, travellers eventually get tired and turn into autumn leaves! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
On The Road quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
The new MX-5 is like the new Ford Mondeo and the Subaru
Legacy Outback. It is one of those cars that's absolutely brilliant ... and nobody buys it. You never see one on the road. ~ Jeremy Clarkson
On The Road quotes by Jeremy Clarkson
You're awfully quiet."

Her head snapped the other way, heat creeping up into her cheeks as she focused on the ocean below. "Just waiting for all of this to sink in."

"Oh." He chuckled. "I was hoping you were staring at me because you liked what you saw."

Clio grinned, shaking her head. "I thought you were concentrating on the road."

He pulled into a cobblestone driveway. The truck vibrated as they rumbled over the uneven surface. When he stopped in front of a cottage, he turned off the engine and met her eyes. "I have a hard time concentrating on anything but you when you're around."

Her heart pounded. "No one's ever had that problem around me before."

"I call bullshit." He rolled his eyes. "I've been wishing you'd notice me since the day we met."
Her jaw dropped. "I always notice you. Why do you think I'm at the theater site so often?"

He reached over to run a finger along her jawline. "You're beautiful, Clio. But you're so busy with your books and reading about the past, you must not notice the effect you have on everyone in the present. ~ Lisa Kessler
On The Road quotes by Lisa Kessler
I was in 'Jacques Brel' Off-Broadway for many years, so I've always been a singing actress, but the songwriting was a complete surprise. I had never written a song in my life. We were on the road with 'Jacques Brel' doing the national tour, and I picked up a guitar one day and I wrote a song. ~ Amanda McBroom
On The Road quotes by Amanda McBroom
This is not my first road trip and it's not my first marriage either. I know that my hissy fit in Fougeres and our bad luck on the road to Bordeaux does not spell doom for either our love affair or our journey. Love affairs are like road trips, and road trips are like love affairs -- from beginning to end the emotions are equally intense, the phases just as predictable. Love and travel. They both have their ups and downs. ~ Vivian Swift
On The Road quotes by Vivian Swift
Many people have traveled all their lives and yet do not know how to behave themselves when on the road ... Ladies and gentlemen should guard against traveling by rail while in a beastly state of intoxication ... the morning is a good time to find out how many people have succeeded in getting on the passenger train, who ought to be in the stock car. ~ Edgar Wilson Nye
On The Road quotes by Edgar Wilson Nye
Consumers are realizing the benefits of in-car entertainment and navigation systems. When used properly, these products are great tools that help drivers focus on the road. Consumers need to remember to follow state laws, watch the road and use common sense when putting these and other products to work. ~ Gary Shapiro
On The Road quotes by Gary Shapiro
Just because the road ahead is long, is no reason to slow down. Just because there is much work to be done, is no reason to get discouraged. It is a reason to get started, to grow, to find new ways, to reach within yourself and discover strength, commitment, and determination. The road ahead is long and difficult, but it's filled with opportunity. Start what needs starting. Finish what needs finishing. Get on the road. Stay on the road. Don't give up. ~ Ralph Marston
On The Road quotes by Ralph Marston
Reality is never more than a first step towards an unknown on the road to which one can never progress very far. ~ Marcel Proust
On The Road quotes by Marcel Proust
Do you think it is safe?"
"You're with two vampires in the middle of the night alone on the road and you ask me if it's safe here? ~ Seline Blade
On The Road quotes by Seline Blade
I don't want to stay on the road for the rest of my life. I have two kids. ~ Scott Weiland
On The Road quotes by Scott Weiland
...we are on the road from no A to no B in the world... ~ J.M. Coetzee
On The Road quotes by J.M. Coetzee
Our job is to get on the road and win one game now. It's a great position to be in. We were lucky to get home ice [advantage] this year. For some reason, we pulled it off at the end and we took advantage early in the series. Now, it's up to us to do our thing on the road. ~ Martin Brodeur
On The Road quotes by Martin Brodeur
It's a crazy soprano, and singing as a man as a woman. But for many years, I was on the road in Chicago as Mary Sunshine, so I can do that. I didn't think there was any way I was going to get it - it was so far out of my comfort-zone. ~ Max Von Essen
On The Road quotes by Max Von Essen
Unlicensed, illegal immigrants are the safest drivers on the road. ~ Dov Davidoff
On The Road quotes by Dov Davidoff
On the road leading from his ranch to Samantha's, Wyat t drove his surrey up a small hill and caught his breath as the beauty of the large crescent moon dangling just out of reach over the crest A full moon would have been plump with luminescence, yet the pearly surface of the sickle still cast enough light to shadow his surroundings and seemed close enough that once he drove to the top of the hill, he'd be able to touch the bottom horn or at least toss a rope around it. He slackened the reins, slowing the horse, knowing that the higher he climbed, the sooner the illusion of closeness would disappear and he wanted to preserve for a moment the fantasy that the moon was within his grasp.
The stars, by contrast, were distant pricks of diamond light farther out than a man could dream. He sighed. Life as a rancher or as a rancher's wife was not moon and stars easy or romantic. What would put stars in Samantha's eyes? ~ Debra Holland
On The Road quotes by Debra Holland
After 1957 On The Road sold a trillion levis and a million espresso coffee machines, and also sent countless kids on the road. This was of course due in part to the media, the arch-opportunists. They know a story when they see one, and the Beat movement was a story, and a big one . . . The Beat literary movement came at exactly the right time and said something that millions of people of all nationalities all over the world were waiting to hear. You can't tell anybody anything he doesn't know already. The alienation, the restlessness, the dissatisfaction were already there waiting when Kerouac pointed out the road. ~ William S. Burroughs
On The Road quotes by William S. Burroughs
My notions of life are much the same as they are about traveling; there is a good deal of amusement on the road; but, after all, one wants to be at rest. ~ Robert Southey
On The Road quotes by Robert Southey
You can never lose ... when you help better the lives of children. Showing them love and kindness each day ... will help take them a long way on the road of life. The future of humanity depends on it! ~ Timothy Pina
On The Road quotes by Timothy Pina
Recently I've been working very hard and quickly; in this way I try to express the desperately fast passage of things in modern life.

Yesterday, in the rain, I painted a large landscape with fields as far as the eye can see, viewed from a height, different kinds of greenery, a dark green field of potatoes, the rich purple earth between the regular rows of plants, to one side a field of peas white with bloom, a field of clover with pink flowers and the little figure of a mower, a field of tall, ripe, fawn-coloured grass, then some wheat, some poplars, on the horizon a last line of blue hills at the foot of which a train is passing, leaving an immense trail of white smoke over the greenery. A white road crosses the canvas, on the road a little carriage and some white houses with bright red roofs alongside a road. Fine drizzle streaks the whole with blue or grey lines. ~ Vincent Van Gogh
On The Road quotes by Vincent Van Gogh
And could a man sink to such triviality, such meanness, such nastiness? Could he change so much? And is it true to life? Yes, it is all true to life. All this can happen to a man. The ardent youth of today would start back in horror if you could show him his portrait in old age. As you pass from the soft years of youth into harsh, hardening manhood, be sure you take with you on the way all the humane emotions, do not leave them on the road: you will not pick them up again afterwards! ~ Nikolai Gogol
On The Road quotes by Nikolai Gogol
Madness will push you anywhere it wants. It never tells you where you're going, or why. It tells you it doesn't matter. It persuades you. It dangles something sparkly before you, shimmering like that water patch on the road up ahead. You will drive until you find it, the treasure, the thing you most desire.
You will never find it. Madness may mock you so long you will die of the search. Or it will tire of you, turn its back, oblivious as you go flying. The car is beside you, smoking, belly-up, still spinning its wheels. ~ Marya Hornbacher
On The Road quotes by Marya Hornbacher
Unity is the most important thing on the road to stamping out terror. You need global rules of law and order, and they have to be enforced. Start with that principle. ~ Chris Matthews
On The Road quotes by Chris Matthews
On the road you have to be more organized. Also, a crowd's energy helps you focus. Nothing compares to playing live. You have to slamdunk whatever you're playing. In the studio, you can do things over. ~ Chris Wyse
On The Road quotes by Chris Wyse
The cruise was the conduit for what would become my third book. While I was traveling and writing for ctnow.com, women across the United States and from the Caribbean emailed not to ask about my geographic journey but my existential one. "How do you find the courage to travel on your own?" they wondered. "How do you keep from getting lonely? Don't you feel self-conscious eating out alone?" After the first 30 emails like these I thought, There's a book here. It would be eight years before I published Postcards and Pearls: Life Lessons from Solo Moments on the Road. But the inspiration for publication came during the cruise. ~ Gina Greenlee
On The Road quotes by Gina Greenlee
Repentant people will recognize a wrong and really want to change because they do not want to be that kind of person. They are motivated by love to not hurt anyone like that again. These are trustworthy people because they are on the road to holiness and change, and their behavior matters to them. People ~ Henry Cloud
