I starved and slept on park benches. I wrapped myself in the pages of my manuscript to keep warm. For two and a half years I took odd jobs; nothing was going to deter me. ~ Gary Jennings
Odd Jobs quotes by Gary Jennings
I'd be dong something creative - something I could express my personality through. I enjoyed working as a gardener before music consumed more of my time. I would probably be still working as a gardener, perhaps, and I wouldn't mind doing odd jobs on the side that were creative, but I'm not sure what they'd be. ~ Vance Joy
Odd Jobs quotes by Vance Joy
I supported myself by delivering the 'Wall Street Journal' and doing odd jobs. I love plumbing and carpentry. ~ David Lynch
Odd Jobs quotes by David Lynch
I think with all the odd jobs I ever had, there was some kind of enlightenment but, yes, a lot of pain and suffering that I don't want to re-live. ~ David Boreanaz
Odd Jobs quotes by David Boreanaz
I wanted to be a therapist if the acting didn't work. I also did a lot waitressing and odd jobs. I'd audition but couldn't get hired to save my life. I'd do Off-Broadway theatre and that was great and I was excited and thrilled, feeling like, 'Well, it's Off-Broadway, but there's still the Broadway in there.' ~ Jennifer Aniston
Odd Jobs quotes by Jennifer Aniston
I keep myself busy with odd jobs, but it doesn't really help. Every nerve, every cell, every sense of my entire being is focused sharply on Cash.
Cash. ~ Michelle Leighton
Odd Jobs quotes by Michelle Leighton
What was he? Storyteller and secretary and doer of odd jobs, neither Tizerkane nor delegate, just someone along for the dream. ~ Laini Taylor
Odd Jobs quotes by Laini Taylor
I lived by a bay for a while, and I shucked oysters. Some packing things. You know, just whatever odd job you can find whenever you're moving around. I never really cared much for the franchise kind of work, so I'd try to find things that I considered to be a little more honorable. ~ Frank Fairfield
Odd Jobs quotes by Frank Fairfield
I had a lot of different jobs between fifteen and nineteen. I'd moved out of my house way, way younger than I should have. So I was living out on my own with my brother when I'd just turned sixteen. I did busboy stuff, and worked in warehouses, and did odd jobs, and stuff. I earned me some Pesos. ~ Ryan Reynolds
Odd Jobs quotes by Ryan Reynolds
I was very driven in high school. I worked a bunch of odd jobs. I never partied. I never drank. I was just a theater geek who was obsessed with movies. ~ Aaron Paul
Odd Jobs quotes by Aaron Paul
By practicing the strictest economy and because of his odd jobs, the Fremonts were able to put aside a dowry for Yvonne, from their dollar a day, minus dues to the union. In 1920 the nest egg amounted to 2,000 francs ($286) and in 1926, to 4,500 francs ($100). Of such mathematics are world disasters made. ~ Elliot Paul
Odd Jobs quotes by Elliot Paul
Everyone is living for everyone else now. They're doing stuff so they can tell other people about it. I don't get all that social media stuff, I've always got other things I want to do - odd jobs around the house. No one wants to hear about that. ~ Karl Pilkington
Odd Jobs quotes by Karl Pilkington
When I was 14, I did all kinds of different odd jobs. I had a chicken farm, had an ice cream operation in the summertime, worked as a caddy; all things to make money and save money. Save money in order to invest - that was the first step, though I never really accumulated very much because of other demands like bicycles and things like that. ~ Charles Schwab
Odd Jobs quotes by Charles Schwab
I had saved a lot of money working at Mrs. Fields' Chocolate Chip Cookies, ushering at the Golden Gate Theatre, and doing odd jobs so I could live in New York for a few months. If it ran out, I would have to give up and go home. It turned out OK. I got my Equity card and started working. ~ B. D. Wong
Odd Jobs quotes by B. D. Wong
My days in hostel were tough. I was ragged by my seniors. We were asked to wash their dirty clothes, do their odd jobs, etc. When it came to eating, we would be often given burnt rotis and milk that had awful odour. But, never once did I call home. I knew if I had to become a tough cricketer, I would have to handle the pressure. ~ Suresh Raina
Odd Jobs quotes by Suresh Raina
But I was also doing odd jobs around Portland, like spreading gravel and transplanting bamboo trees. ~ Elliott Smith
Odd Jobs quotes by Elliott Smith
I borrowed a lot of money from my parents in the years leading up to the 2000 Olympics, and I worked odd jobs. ~ Bryan Volpenhein
Odd Jobs quotes by Bryan Volpenhein
I started acting pretty young, so I haven't had too many odd jobs. But I used to sell candy out of my locker in middle school. ~ Paul Dano
Odd Jobs quotes by Paul Dano
When I say "work" I only mean writing. Everything else is just odd jobs. ~ Margaret Laurence
Odd Jobs quotes by Margaret Laurence
[Thoreau's] famous night in jail took place about halfway through his stay in the cabin on Emerson's woodlot at Walden Pond. His two-year stint in the small cabin he built himself is often portrayed as a monastic retreat from the world of human affairs into the world of nautre, though he went back to town to eat with and talk to friends and family and to pick up money doing odd jobs that didn't fit into Walden's narrative. He went to jail both because the town jailer ran into him while he was getting his shoe mended and because he felt passionately enough about national affairs to refuse to pay his tax. To be in the woods was not to be out of society or politics. ~ Rebecca Solnit
Odd Jobs quotes by Rebecca Solnit
I started out mopping floors, waiting tables, and tending bar at my dad's tavern. I put myself through school working odd jobs and night shifts. I poured my heart and soul into a small business. And when I saw how out-of-touch Washington had become with the core values of this great nation, I put my name forward and ran for office. ~ John Boehner
Odd Jobs quotes by John Boehner
And by the way, Lanwa, you must stop preaching the sermon of our people's old custom and tradition. This your long story of kinsman and cousin and half-brother connection with my late husband cannot catch me like a deer in a snare! I reserve the right to choose the type of life I want to lead. It could be that of woman deliberately aloof in self-contentment, untouched by the victimisation and oppression of the man; or that of a woman sulking the anger of an injury, protesting humiliations heaped on her, over the years by the man. I may choose to shield off man, permanently in my life, and transfer all affection and devotion to my children, spoiling them every minute with motherly love and care. I may deliberately engage in twenty different odd jobs, from cockcrow to cockroost, not resting and not sparing any moment to talk to men, or even look at any man's face. Not your business Lanwa, how I want to live my life! ~ Bayo Adebowale
Odd Jobs quotes by Bayo Adebowale
I went to college in Connecticut, which was when I still lived at home. I worked at a video store, a wine store, and did odd jobs here and there like landscaping. ~ Christopher Abbott
Odd Jobs quotes by Christopher Abbott
I was in tailoring business, I sold flowers on the street, I worked construction and many odd jobs. ~ Manny Pacquiao
Odd Jobs quotes by Manny Pacquiao
I was involved in school plays, but when I left school I did a couple of odd jobs as a baker's apprentice and then as a fruit market porter in Manchester. ~ John Thaw
Odd Jobs quotes by John Thaw
Derek.' There was an odd smile on her face. 'Your cockney is showing. ~ Lisa Kleypas
Odd Jobs quotes by Lisa Kleypas
We want you, not your money. As long as you're at fight club, you're not how much money you've got in the bank. You're not your job. You're not your family, and you're not who you tell yourself. You're not your name. You're not your problems. You're not your age. You are not your hopes. You will not be saved. We are all going to die, someday. ~ Chuck Palahniuk
Odd Jobs quotes by Chuck Palahniuk
There is a time on every job where you say, Screw caution. I'm not foolhardy. I'm not stupid. But sometimes you have to be the battering ram. ~ Jeff Abbott
Odd Jobs quotes by Jeff Abbott
It would be possible to make much more progress than has been made if the NCI knew its job better, knew how to make discoveries ... The NCI really does not know how to make discoveries ... So long as the NCI is not willing to follow up ideas that seem good to people who have had experience making discoveries, the work of the NCI is going to be pedestrian. ~ Linus Pauling
Odd Jobs quotes by Linus Pauling
It's extremely difficult to get these jobs because you can't get a job on a ship unless you have seaman's paper's, and you can't get seaman's papers unless you have a job on a ship. There had to be a way to break through the circle, and he was the one who arranged it for me. ~ Paul Auster
Odd Jobs quotes by Paul Auster
It was an odd situation. For a century and a half, men got rid of their own hair, which was perfectly comfortable, and instead covered their heads with something foreign and uncomfortable. Very often it was actually their own hair made into a wig. People who couldn't afford wigs tried to make their hair look like a wig. ~ Bill Bryson
Odd Jobs quotes by Bill Bryson
Sometime during my study of the Dark Ages and Middle Ages, I uncovered an odd paradox that exists in our minds about time gone by. It is a difference most people don't discern between history and the past. Simply stated, the past is what is real and true, while history is merely what someone recorded. If you don't think there is a difference, experience an event in person and then read about it in the newspaper the next day, after witnesses have been interviewed. It might be shocking for many of us to realize that what we know as "history" can actually be a total fabrication, created from the imagination of someone with an ax to grind. Or perhaps, and it certainly happened in the Middle Ages, history was simply recorded by the man with the sharpest ax. ~ Andy Andrews
Odd Jobs quotes by Andy Andrews
There are some scenes that you have to lose in order to win something at the end. A good director will keep pointing you that way, but it is also your job as an actor to understand that there are scenes that you do, particularly when you are the lead, where other people get to come in and steal and you have to let them. I understand that but a good director always reminds you where those moments are. ~ George Clooney
Odd Jobs quotes by George Clooney
There are certain jobs I don't take because I feel no connection to the person. But if somebody is open with me, and honest about their motivations, and has some level of self- awareness, then I'm going to understand them. ~ Hilary Liftin
Odd Jobs quotes by Hilary Liftin
What had I intuited at last? Namely this: while nothing is more precious than independence and freedom, nothing is also more precious than independence and freedom! These two slogans are almost the same, but not quite. The first inspiring slogan was Ho Chi Min's empty suit, which he no longer wore. How could he? He was dead. The second slogan was the tricky one, the joke. It was Uncle Ho's empty suit turned inside out, a sartorial sensation that only a man of two minds, or a man with no face, dared to wear. This odd suit suited me, for it was of a cutting-edge cut. Wearing this inside-out suit, my seams exposed in an unseemly way, I understood, at last, how our revolution had gone from being the vanguard of political change to the rearguard hoarding power. In this transformation, we were not unusual. Hadn't the French and the Americans done exactly the same? Once revolutionaries themselves, they had become imperialists, colonizing and occupying our defiant little land, taking away our freedom in the name of saving us. Our revolution took considerably longer than theirs, and was considerably bloodier, but we made up for lost time. When it came to learning the worst habits of our French masters and their American replacements, we quickly proved ourselves the best. We, too, could abuse grand ideals! Having liberated ourselves in the name of independence and freedom - I was so tired of saying these words! - we then deprived our defeated brethren of the same. ~ Viet Thanh Nguyen
Odd Jobs quotes by Viet Thanh Nguyen
There were icons of the Magdalen on the walls and paintings in the Western manner, all kitsch, trash. Mary M., Lucas thought, half hypnotized by the chanting in the room beside him; Mary Moe, Jane Doe, the girl from Migdal in Galilee turned hooker in the big city. The original whore with the heart of gold. Used to be a nice Jewish girl, and the next thing you know, she's fucking the buckos of the Tenth Legion Fratensis, fucking the pilgrims who'd made their sacrifice at the Temple and were ready to party, the odd priest and Levite on the sly.
Maybe she was smart and funny. Certainly always on the lookout for the right guy to take her out of the life. Like a lot of whores, she tended towards religion. So along comes Jesus Christ, Mr. Right with a Vengeance, Mr. All Right Now! Fixes on her his hot, crazy eyes and she's all, Anything, I'll do anything. I'll wash your feet with my hair. You don't even have to fuck me. ~ Robert Stone
Odd Jobs quotes by Robert Stone
It's an odd mix, the life of a playwright. ~ Laura Wade
Odd Jobs quotes by Laura Wade
I think Republicans need to do a better job of reaching out to everyone in the United States. Politics is always about getting the support of the majority of our people. ~ Marco Rubio
Odd Jobs quotes by Marco Rubio
It's all based on saying the shocking thing. We used to have a great time going to Hollywood parties and saying 'I think George Bush is doing a great job.' We'd clear out the room. I used to love it. ~ Trey Parker
Odd Jobs quotes by Trey Parker
Biju knew he probably wouldn't see him again. This was what happened, he had learned by now. You lived intensely with others, only to have them disappear overnight, since the shadow class was condemned to movement. The men left for other jobs, towns, got deported, returned home, changed names. Sometimes someone came popping around a corner again, or on the subway, then they vanished again. Adresses, phone numbers did not hold. The emptiness Biju felt returned to him over and over, until eventually he made sure not to let friendships sink deep anymore./The Inheritance of Loss ~ Kiran Desai
Odd Jobs quotes by Kiran Desai
Jiu Jitsu has given me something to pursue. We all need something to work towards. For people, as well as every piece of matter in the universe, there is no such thing as maintenance. If you are not growing you are decaying. The insidious nature of modern times is that it is so easy not to pursue anything. Societal norms pressure us into jobs we do not like, and the daily comforts of televisions and computers offer much in the way of distraction. If that isn't enough, there is always the numbing effects of alcohol coupled with attention-grabbing sporting events which conveniently run year round so one is never short of stimulus. ~ Chris Matakas
Odd Jobs quotes by Chris Matakas
Most creativity is a transition from one context into another where things are more surprising. There's an element of surprise, and especially in science, there is often laughter that goes along with the "Aha." Art also has this element. Our job is to remind us that there are more contexts than the one that we're in - the one that we think is reality. ~ Alan Kay
Odd Jobs quotes by Alan Kay
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY

I don't know of people who do everything from going to school, learning different skills and basically develop themselves so that they stay at home. It's ingrained in every kid that they should study hard and excel so that they can get good jobs and live well. With that said, working is what makes us build nations and fulfill some our dreams so it's important to ensure that the work environment is kept safe and comfortable for workers so that they can remain productive for the longest time. However as long as we are living there will SWMS always be greedy employers who will take short cuts or fail to protect their employees and this is where OSHA(occupational safety and health administration)comes in to rectify these issues. Occupational safety is ensuring that employees work in danger free environment.

There are many industries of different nature and hence the possible hazards vary. For example in the textile and clothing industry, employees deal with dyes, chemicals and machines that spin , knit and weave to ensure production. In some countries there have been cases of sweatshops where people make clothes in poorly ventilated places for long hours. The tools of trade in all industries are still the ones that cause hazards e.g. machines can cut people, chemicals emit poisonous fumes or burn the skin and clothes etc.

Its therefore the mandate of employers to ensure work places are safe for workers and incase the ind ~ Peter Gabriel
Odd Jobs quotes by Peter Gabriel
I thought it was my job to give all the boys their first kiss. ~ Jessica Alba
Odd Jobs quotes by Jessica Alba
Chronologically she is twelve but emotionally she is older, and intellectually older still. ~ Dean Koontz
Odd Jobs quotes by Dean Koontz
We give people major responsibilities even if they are only 60 per cent ready. Our experience is that people are pretty elastic when you give them responsibility, and they just grow rapidly with the job. ~ Azim Premji
Odd Jobs quotes by Azim Premji
What I see is the millions of people, of whom I am just one, made orphans: no motherland, no fatherland, no gods, no mounds of earth for holy ground, no excess of love which might lead to the things that an excess of love sometimes brings, and worst and most painful of all, no tongue. (For isn't it odd that the only language I have in which to speak of this crime is the language of the criminal who committed the crime? And what can that really mean? For the language of the criminal can contain only the goodness of the criminal's deed. The language of the criminal can explain and express the deed only from the criminal's point of view. It cannot contain the horror of the deed, the injustice of the deed, the agony, the humiliation inflicted one me. ~ Jamaica Kincaid
Odd Jobs quotes by Jamaica Kincaid
Our Government is fostering economic growth in Kitchener, Cambridge and all of the Waterloo Region by investing in our innovative businesses. Today's announcement is a great example of how we are helping high-potential companies bring great ideas to market faster. Helping our entrepreneurs and original thinkers export their products and services to the rest of the world creates jobs, growth and economic prosperity here at home. ~ Gary Goodyear
Odd Jobs quotes by Gary Goodyear
Part of what made the Macintosh great was that the people working on it were musicians, poets, and artists, and zoologists, and historians. They also happened to be the best computer scientists in the world. But if it hadn't been computer science, these people would have been doing amazing things in other fields. ~ Steve Jobs
Odd Jobs quotes by Steve Jobs
We all have to show up and do our job regardless of our life circumstances or situations. We don't have to do it with an attitude or whatever but maybe we do that day. Everyone understands that life happens and we have to create a whole other life where our life doesn't even exist. You know, our real life doesn't exist, these characters exist. And that is our life. And that's who we are. ~ Queen Latifah
Odd Jobs quotes by Queen Latifah
It is frightfully hard to explain to Protestants that if you give Roman Catholics a good job and a good house, they will live like Protestants ... they will refuse to have 18 children ... If you treat Roman Catholics with due consideration and kindness, they will live like Protestants in spite of the authoritative nature of their Church. ~ Terence O'Neill, Baron O'Neill Of The Maine
Odd Jobs quotes by Terence O'Neill, Baron O'Neill Of The Maine
I think a lot of people want to, at some point in their life, be someone else, run away and escape, in some way. We [actors] do get to do it. We have a job that allows for that. We have an outlet for it. ~ Emily Blunt
Odd Jobs quotes by Emily Blunt
There may be luck in getting a good job-but there's no luck in keeping it. ~ J. Ogden Armour
Odd Jobs quotes by J. Ogden Armour
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so?
There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar. ~ Drew Carey
Odd Jobs quotes by Drew Carey
One of Job's great strengths was knowing how to focus. " Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do, " he said. " That's true for companies, and it's true for products. ~ Walter Isaacson
Odd Jobs quotes by Walter Isaacson
I've heard one or two riders refer to the odd night out as 'morale training'. It's a good expression for it. It's got the word 'training' in it, so it's got to be a good idea. ~ Michael Hutchinson
Odd Jobs quotes by Michael Hutchinson
...it had probably been a long enough life. Yet suddenly it all seemed like an illusion, a dream that had happened to someone else. What an odd thing existence was. ~ Kate Atkinson
Odd Jobs quotes by Kate Atkinson
A good rule of thumb is if you've made it to 35 and your job still requires you wear a nametag, you've probably made a serious vocational error. ~ Dennis Miller
Odd Jobs quotes by Dennis Miller
So that we focus not on competing visions for Europe but on what Europe can do to improve economic growth, to give us a cleaner environment, to create more jobs, to make us more secure. ~ John Hutton
Odd Jobs quotes by John Hutton
Now, now, hear me out," Hamish went on. "We don't have to kidnap Garrett. Not if we kidnap the buyer."
"Or distract him," Angus added.
"Like the Bulgari job," Hamish said.
"You mean the job that landed half the DiMarco family in a South African prison?" Kat said.
Angus shrugged. "Nobody said it was perfect. ~ Ally Carter
Odd Jobs quotes by Ally Carter
[Nineteenth century American educator] Catharine Beecher is really associated with the idea that a mother works with children in the home and a teacher works with children at school, and that therefore women are almost biologically predisposed to do this job. ~ Dana Goldstein
Odd Jobs quotes by Dana Goldstein
There is a saying: It takes a Downworlder to clear up a Shadowhunter mess," Catarina observed. "I ... hadn't heard that saying," said Dean Penhallow. "How odd," said Catarina, her voice fading as they walked away. "Downworlders say it often. Very often." Simon ~ Cassandra Clare
Odd Jobs quotes by Cassandra Clare
Jobs and Clow agreed that Apple was one of the great brands of the world, probably in the top five based on emotional appeal, but they needed to remind folks what was distinctive about it. So they wanted a brand image campaign, not a set of advertisements featuring products. It was designed to celebrate not what the computers could do, but what creative people could do with the computers. " This wasn't about processor speed or memory," Jobs recalled. " It was about creativity." It was directed not only at potential customers, but also at Apple's own employees: " We at Apple had forgotten who we were. One way to remember who you are is to remember who your heroes are. That was the genesis of that campaign. ~ Walter Isaacson
Odd Jobs quotes by Walter Isaacson
There is an odd synchronicity in the way parallel lives veer to touch one another, change direction, and then come close again and again until they connect and hold for whatever it was that fate intended to happen. ~ Ann Rule
Odd Jobs quotes by Ann Rule
My job is not done. I address my songs now to the third world. I am popular all over Asia and Africa and the Middle East, not to speak of South Africa, where I'm trying to go to see Nelson Mandela. ~ Nina Simone
Odd Jobs quotes by Nina Simone
I'm almost completely without family and it's a very odd feeling in life. I have no children. ~ Walter Mosley
Odd Jobs quotes by Walter Mosley
A story rises from the springs of creation, from the pure will to be; it tells itself; I takes its own course, finds its own way, its own words; and the writer's job is to be its medium. ~ Ursula K. Le Guin
Odd Jobs quotes by Ursula K. Le Guin
I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed ... I'm networking. I have my sight on a particular job. ~ Mitt Romney
Odd Jobs quotes by Mitt Romney
I am a proud Montrealer. Jobs will take me where they take me, but nothing will ever be able to convince me to leave my home. ~ Jay Baruchel
Odd Jobs quotes by Jay Baruchel
I can't just sit at my desk and let this web of weirdness spin around me. (That describes a lot of jobs, I realize, but this is potentially a special kind of magick-with-a-k weirdness. ~ Robin Sloan
Odd Jobs quotes by Robin Sloan
We cannot give our students all that they expect, whether by way of the quality of their schooling or by way of the jobs that they were hoping to get. Student frustration is a worldwide phenomenon, pushing our societies into adjusting faster than they are used to. ~ Arthur Lewis
Odd Jobs quotes by Arthur Lewis
I'm glad some people have that faith. I don't have that faith. If there is a God, a caring God, then we have to figure he's done an extraordinary job of making a very cruel world. ~ Dave Matthews
Odd Jobs quotes by Dave Matthews
I think writing is better in odd or terrible places. It makes the magic all the more wonderful, because you're getting lost in a beautiful world. ~ Megan Linski
Odd Jobs quotes by Megan Linski
If the EPA continues unabated, jobs will be shipped to China and India as energy costs skyrocket. Most of the media attention has focused on the EPA's efforts to regulate climate-change emissions, but that is just the beginning. ~ Fred Upton
Odd Jobs quotes by Fred Upton
