If protesting against having a nuclear bomb implanted in my brain is anti-Hindu and anti-national, then I secede. I hereby declare myself an independent, mobile republic. I am a citizen of the earth. I own no territory. I have no flag. My policies are simple. I'm willing to sign any nuclear non-proliferation treaty or nuclear test ban treaty that's going. Immigrants are welcome. You can help me design our flag. ~ Arundhati Roy
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Arundhati Roy
If you go on with this nuclear arms race, all you are going to do is make the rubble bounce. ~ Winston S. Churchill
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Winston S. Churchill
The Israelis have nuclear bombs but we have the children bomb and these human bombs must continue until liberation. ~ Yusuf Al-Qaradawi
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi
America My Country: last nation on earth to abolish human slavery; first of all nations to drop the nuclear bomb on our fellow human beings. ~ Edward Abbey
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Edward Abbey
Eventually, I developed my own image of teh "befriending" impulse behind my depression. Imagine that from early in my life, a friendly figure, standing a block away, was trying to get my attention by shouting my name, wanting to teach me some hard but healing truths about myself. But I-- fearful of what I might hear or arrogantly trying to live wihtout help or simply too busy with my ideas and ego and ethics to bother-- ignored teh shouts and walked away.

So this figure, still with friendly intent, came closer and shouted more loudly, but AI kept walking. Ever closer it came, close enough to tap me on the shoulder, but I walked on. Frustrated by my unresponsiveness, the figure threw stones at my back, then struck me with a stick, still wanting simply to get my attention. But despite teh pain, I kept walking away.

Over teh years, teh befriending intent of this figure never disapppeared but became obscured by the frustration cuased by my refusal to turn around. Since shouts and taps, stones and sticks had failed to do the trick, there was only one thing left: drop the nuclear bomb called depression on me, not with the intent to kill but as a last-ditch effort to get me to turn and ask the simple question, "What do you want?" When I was finally able to make the turn-- and start to absorb and act on the self-knowledge that then became available to me-- I began to get well.

The figure calling to me all those years was, I believe, what Thomas Merto ~ Parker J. Palmer
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Parker J. Palmer
Also, the world contains a lot of people. The statistics of power-law distributions and the events of the past two centuries agree in telling us that a small number of perpetrators can cause a great deal of damage. If somewhere among the world's six billion people there is a zealot who gets his hands on a stray nuclear bomb, he could single-handedly send the statistics through the roof. But even if he did, we would still need an explanation of why homicide rates fell a hundredfold, why slave markets and debtors' prisons have vanished, and why the Soviets and Americans did not go to war over Cuba, to say nothing of Canada and Spain over flatfish. ~ Steven Pinker
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Steven Pinker
I challenge you to destroy whatever roadblock is keeping you from moving forward. Destroy it with your physical body if you must, but first, destroy it with a power greater than a nuclear bomb - the power of your mind. Think it gone and it will go. ~ Toni Sorenson
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Toni Sorenson
Jeff sighed. "Henry. You know as well as I do that any one of us could do a great deal of damage if we set our minds to it. Demi is the human equivalent of a nuclear bomb. I could cripple the power grid for this entire coast. You could - " "Rally the squirrels of the world to my defense," I finished sourly. ~ Seanan McGuire
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Seanan McGuire
The '50s were terrifying with nuclear bomb stuff but boring in a social way, and then the '60s were happening, and remember, there was no AIDS. ~ Robert Klein
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Robert Klein
It's very easy to capture pictures of jubilant people in the street after the nuclear bomb. But there were no pictures of morose people sitting in their kitchens and living rooms. ~ Amartya Sen
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Amartya Sen
Kennedy said that if we had nuclear war we'd kill 300 million people in the first hour. McNamara, who is a good businessman and likes to save, says it would be only 200 million. ~ Norman Thomas
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Norman Thomas
I personally have a cunt. Sometimes it's 'flaps' or 'twat', but most of the time, it's my cunt. Cunt is a proper, old, historic, strong word. I like that my fire escape also doubles up as the most potent swearword in the English language. Yeah. That's how powerful it is, guys. If I tell you what I've got down there, old ladies and clerics might faint. I like how shocked people are when you say 'cunt'. It's like I have a nuclear bomb in my pants, or a tiger, or a gun.

Compared to this the most powerful swearword men have got out of their privates is 'dick', which is frankly vanilla, and I believe you're allowed to use on, like, Blue Peter if something goes wrong. In a culture where nearly everything female is still seen as squeam-inducing, and/or weak - menstruation, menopause, just the sheer simple act of calling someone 'a girl' - I love that 'cunt' stands, on its own, as the supreme unvanquishable word. It has almost mystic resonance. It is a cunt - we all know it's a cunt - but we can't call it a cunt. We can't say the actual word. It's too powerful. Like Jews can never utter the Tetragrammaton - an must make do with 'Jehovah', instead. ~ Caitlin Moran
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Caitlin Moran
If this is a war, my side has the nuclear bomb. We have K Street. We have Wall Street. Debbie doesn't have anybody. I want a government that is responsive to the people who got the short straw in life. ~ Warren Buffett
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Warren Buffett
The blast signatures of a detonated supernova and that of a nuclear bomb are identical. ~ Eric Chaisson
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Eric Chaisson
The most striking impression was that of an overwhelming bright light. I had seen under similar conditions the explosion of a large amount - 100 tons - of normal explosives in the April test, and I was flabbergasted by the new spectacle. We saw the whole sky flash with unbelievable brightness in spite of the very dark glasses we wore. Our eyes were accommodated to darkness, and thus even if the sudden light had been only normal daylight it would have appeared to us much brighter than usual, but we know from measurements that the flash of the bomb was many times brighter than the sun. In a fraction of a second, at our distance, one received enough light to produce a sunburn. I was near Fermi at the time of the explosion, but I do not remember what we said, if anything. I believe that for a moment I thought the explosion might set fire to the atmosphere and thus finish the earth, even though I knew that this was not possible. ~ Emilio Segre
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Emilio Segre
Obama has been saying for years now - he said it again on Sunday - that climate change is the biggest threat facing the planet, all the while he knew that Iran is just a couple months away from a nuclear bomb. ~ Rush Limbaugh
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Rush Limbaugh
A woman would never make a nuclear bomb. They would never make a weapon that kills - no, no. They'd make a weapon that makes you feel bad for a while. ~ Robin Williams
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Robin Williams
She stared at me. "Fly, ;ole, in an airplane, which you were warned never to do lest Zeus strike you out of the sky, AND carrying a weapon that has more destructive power than a nuclear bomb?"
"Yeah," I said. "Pretty much exactly like that. ~ Rick Riordan
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Rick Riordan
Over more than a decade, Iran had moved ahead with its nuclear program. And before the deal, it had installed nearly 20,000 centrifuges that could enrich uranium for a nuclear bomb. ~ Barack Obama
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Barack Obama
There are many people inside Iran who say, "We don't have enough to eat. Why do we need a nuclear bomb?" ~ Farah Diba
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Farah Diba
Nuclear weapons free world is not a dream but a necessity for human survival. We need stop waiting for things to happen. We need to go ahead and make things happen. ~ Amit Ray
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Amit Ray
After I took two pees- 'cause the news of this mandatory dress rehearsal was way too big of a nuclear bomb to just take one- we made plans to meet by the Fountain before the dress rehearsal began to get our act together. ~ Alan Sitomer
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Alan Sitomer
No. That's Clary; shes's my best friend." Simon pocketed his phone. "And she has a boyfriend. Like, really, really, really has a boyfriend. The nuclear bomb of boyfriends. Trust me on this one. ~ Cassandra Clare
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Cassandra Clare
I returned to civilization shortly after that and went to Cornell to teach, and my first impression was a very strange one. I can't understand it any more, but I felt very strongly then. I sat in a restaurant in New York, for example, and I looked out at the buildings and I began to think, you know, about how much the radius of the Hiroshima bomb damage was and so forth ... How far from here was 34th street? ... All those buildings, all smashed - and so on. And I would go along and I would see people building a bridge, or they'd be making a new road, and I thought, they're crazy, they just don't understand, they don't understand. Why are they making new things? It's so useless.
But, fortunately, it's been useless for almost forty years now, hasn't it? So I've been wrong about it being useless making bridges and I'm glad those other people had the sense to go ahead. ~ Richard Feynman
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Richard Feynman
Hanson looked at me like I'd just claimed I could make a nuclear bomb out of laundry detergent, string, and a can of baked beans. ~ Marshall Thornton
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Marshall Thornton
When the rods were pushed back in and the clicking had died down, we suddenly experiences a let-down feeling, for all of us understood the language of the counter. Even though we had anticipated the success of the experiment, its accomplishment had a deep impact on us. For some time we had known that we were about to unlock a giant; still we could not escape an eerie feeling when we had actually done it. We felt as, I presume, everyone feels who has done something that he knowns will have very far-reaching consequences which he cannot foresee. ~ Eugene Wigner
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Eugene Wigner
There has been a transition from a nuclear-annihilation scenario to an isolated-terrorist-nuclear-bomb scenario. But we're still locked into a mind-set that nuclear war would be so overwhelming that any kind of preparedness would be futile. ~ Irwin Redlener
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Irwin Redlener
I could no longer picture Rosalind in my mind's eye; the tender vision of the girl in white had been blown to pieces as if by a nuclear bomb. This was something unimaginable, something hollow as the yellowed husks that insects leave behind in dry grass, blowing with cold alien winds and a fine corrosive dust that shredded everything it touched. ~ Tana French
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Tana French
The use of the blockade against Germany to starve large numbers of people to death broke through the moral barrier against the mass killing of civilians. It was the precedent for the 'conventional' bombing of civilians in the Second World War and then for the use of the atomic bomb. ~ Jonathan Glover
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Jonathan Glover
The Republicans finally got some good news over the weekend. The North Koreans set off a nuclear bomb. Thank God. It was so powerful it knocked the Mark Foley story right off the front page. And knocked him off the page he was on, too. ~ Jay Leno
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Jay Leno
The use of the atomic bomb, with its indiscriminate killing of women and children, revolts my soul. ~ Herbert Hoover
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Herbert Hoover
We shot 'Delusion' in the middle of the desert and outside of Las Vegas where they did those underground nuclear bomb testings. So I only ate oysters and drank coffee because I didn't want to turn into a mutant. ~ Jennifer Rubin
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Jennifer Rubin
There's detailed information on how to assemble a nuclear weapon from parts. There's books about how to build a nuclear bomb. ~ Irwin Redlener
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Irwin Redlener
The one great gift to humankind from our nuclear physicists has been the nuclear bomb. How can we ever thank them? ~ Edward Abbey
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Edward Abbey
The only place you and I disagree is with regard to the bombing. You're so goddamned concerned about the civilians, and I (in contrast) don't give a damn. I don't care." ... "I'd rather use the nuclear bomb ... Does that bother you? I just want you to think big. ~ Richard M. Nixon
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Richard M. Nixon
I looked for it [heavy hydrogen, deuterium] because I thought it should exist. I didn't know it would have industrial applications or be the basic for the most powerful weapon ever known [the nuclear bomb] ... I thought maybe my discovery might have the practical value of, say, neon in neon signs.
[He was awarded the 1931 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering deuterium.] ~ Harold Urey
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Harold Urey
We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another. ~ J. Robert Oppenheimer
Nuclear Bomb quotes by J. Robert Oppenheimer
Of course, some will say the goal [of abolition] is a utopian dream of human perfection. We needn't worry. There will be more than enough sins left for everyone to commit after we have taken nuclear bombs away from ourselves. ~ Jonathan Schell
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Jonathan Schell
Japan knows the horror of war and has suffered as no other nation under the cloud of nuclear disaster. Certainly Japan can stand strong for a world of peace. ~ Martin Luther King Jr. Papers Project
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. Papers Project
O where will you go when the blinding flash
Scatters the seed of a million suns?
And what will you do in the rain of ash?

I'll draw the blinds and pull down the sash,
And hide from the sight of so many noons.
But how will it be when the blinding flash

Disturbs your body's close-knit mesh
Bringing to light your lovely bones?
What will you wear in the rain of ash?

I will go bare without my flesh,
My vertebrae will click like stones.
Ah. But where will you dance when the blinding flash

Settles the city in a holy hush?
I will dance alone among the ruins.
Ah. And what will you say to the rain of ash?

I will be charming. My subtle speech
Will weave close turns and counter-turns-
No. What will you say to the rain of ash?
Nothing, after the blinding flash

- Terminal Colloquy ~ Charles Martin
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Charles Martin
Beneath the violet pillar, in the vacuum before the roar of the cloud, there came a soft sound that might have been heard by those who listened closely: the gentle sigh of an idea unbound. ~ Lydia Millet
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Lydia Millet
The thing about divorce is, there isn't always one mistake. One nuclear
bomb dropped on a couple that destroys their marriage. Sometimes, it creeps
up on you slowly. And one day, realization hits and all you know is that you
don't want to be married anymore. Maybe a nuclear bomb would have been
better than slowly burning to death. Maybe that wouldn't make you feel like
such a failure. It kills you to give up, but you know it's the right decision.
Because if you keep going, you'll hate each other. ~ Devney Perry
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Devney Perry
Just as we can no longer pretend that ducking under wooden desks will keep us safe from a nuclear bomb, we must no longer pretend that a large nuclear stockpile will protect us from the most immediate security threats the United States faces. ~ Mike Quigley
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Mike Quigley
We have still not answered the question of when an experiment might be justifiable. It will not do to say "Never!" Putting morality in such black-and-white terms is appealing, because it eliminates the need to think about particular cases; but in extreme circumstances, such absolutist answers always break down. Torturing a human being is almost always wrong, but it is not absolutely wrong. If torture were the only way in which we could discover the location of a nuclear bomb hidden in a New York City basement and timed to go off within the hour, then torture would be justifiable. ~ Peter Singer
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Peter Singer
The truth emerging from this scattered picture of nuclear proliferation is simple: there is a stronger chance of a nuclear bomb being used now than at almost any point in the Cold War. ~ Johann Hari
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Johann Hari
North Korea conducted a nuclear test and the blast was so small that many scientists are saying it was a dud. Apparently, the nuclear bomb didn't work well because it was made in Korea. ~ Conan O'Brien
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Conan O'Brien
Surely something must be terribly wrong with a man who seems to be far more concerned with Jews building houses in Israel than with Muslims building a nuclear bomb in Iran. ~ Burt Prelutsky
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Burt Prelutsky
The best way to solve any problem is to remove its cause. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.
I learned to just show up at the page and write down what I heard. Writing became more like eavesdropping and less like inventing a nuclear bomb. ~ Julia Cameron
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Julia Cameron
Every nuclear bomb is an Auschwitz waiting to happen. ~ Patricia Marx
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Patricia Marx
Experts say that Iraq may have nuclear weapons. That's bad news - they may have a nuclear bomb. Now the good news is that they have to drop it with a camel. ~ David Letterman
Nuclear Bomb quotes by David Letterman
The nuclear bomb is the most useless weapon ever invented. It can be employed to no rational purpose. It is not even an effective defense against itself. ~ George F. Kennan
Nuclear Bomb quotes by George F. Kennan
It's going to happen soon, a nuclear war. Someday, somewhere, some jackass politician will get in over his head and push the button, and us? Society? We haven't really grasped the full reality of the situation. If a nuclear bomb were detonated, we'd all just be collateral damage. That's why it has to be prevented, because trust me when I say that nobody will be standing up for our rights or life when there's no one left to do so. ~ Rebecca McNutt
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Rebecca McNutt
Why does the third of the three brothers, who shares his food with the old woman in the wood, go on to become king of the country? Why does James Bond manage to disarm the nuclear bomb a few seconds before it goes off rather than, as it were, a few seconds afterwards? Because a universe where that did not happen would be a dark and hostile place. Let there be goblin hordes, let there be terrible environmental threats, let there be giant mutated slugs if you really must, but let there also be hope. It may be a grim, thin hope, an Arthurian sword at sunset, but let us know that we do not live in vain. ~ Terry Pratchett
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Terry Pratchett
What you tend to find in the personal lives of brilliant men is devastation akin to a nuclear bomb going off. ~ Marisha Pessl
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Marisha Pessl
People always say that digital cameras are much more stable than film cameras, but the truth is that digital cameras, or any kind of digital technology, is one of the most unstable things in the world. A film camera can last decades if you know how to look after it, but digital things can break down instantly. A violent storm, a nuclear bomb, even something as minor as a cracked screen or the releasing of newer models, can make a digital product just a block of useless metal. ~ Rebecca McNutt
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Rebecca McNutt
He remembered Simon warning him, with wryness, that Clary had the nuclear bomb of boyfriends. ~ Cassandra Clare
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Cassandra Clare
Ah, what I'd do for a nuclear bomb." "A nuclear what?" my wife asked. Her contortion of fear was clearly outlined. "Did I say that out loud?" I asked, clearly confused. ~ Mark Tufo
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Mark Tufo
Right then, in that moment, Dex The Dick grinned. Grinned. And sweet mother of God, it was devastating. So completely catastrophic I just stood there and absorbed the nuclear bomb going off in front of me, defenseless. ~ Mariana Zapata
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Mariana Zapata
If the Iraqi regime is able to produce, buy or steal an amount of highly enriched uranium a little larger than a single softball, [it] could have a nuclear weapon in less than a year. ~ George W. Bush
Nuclear Bomb quotes by George W. Bush
Maybe we ought to consider a Golden Rule in foreign policy: Don't do to other nations what we don't want happening to us. We endlessly bomb these countries and then we wonder why they get upset with us? ~ Ron Paul
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Ron Paul
Adoration will heal our Church and thus our nation and thus our world ... Adoration touches everyone and everything ... [because it touches the Creator, Who touches everything and everyone] ... When we adore, we plug into infinite dynamism and power. Adoration is more powerful for construction than nuclear bombs are for destruction ~ Peter Kreeft
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Peter Kreeft
That guy was a mystery wrapped in an enigma and crudely stapled to a ticking fucking time bomb. He was either going to hit somebody or start a blog. To tell you the truth I'm kind of glad he hit you. ~ Lev Grossman
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Lev Grossman
We walk the brink of racial suicide because we were smart enough to make atomic bombs and stupid enough to use them. ~ David Zindell
Nuclear Bomb quotes by David Zindell
When I was in high school, I was in a special math class. I was infatuated with physics, particularly nuclear physics, Einstein, and the Big Bang. I read a lot about black holes. And partly because I'm so lazy I thought you could do all this just by looking at the sky and thinking up universes. It didn't seem like hard work when I was a kid, so I enrolled in this class. ~ Aleksandar Hemon
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Aleksandar Hemon
It is an irony of history that the first and greatest success of scientists in persuading governments of the indispensability of modern scientific theory to society was in the war against fascism. It is an even greater and more tragic irony that it was anti-fascist scientists who convinced the American government of the feasibility and necessity of manufacturing nuclear arms, which were then constructed by an international team of largely anti-fascist scientists. ~ Eric Hobsbawm
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Eric Hobsbawm
The Maria Mayer shell model suggestion in 1949 was a great triumph and fitted my belief that a nuclear shell model should represent a proper approach to understanding nuclear structure. ~ James Rainwater
Nuclear Bomb quotes by James Rainwater
The Photograph is concerned with the power that the past has to interfere with the present: the time bomb in the cupboard. ~ Penelope Lively
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Penelope Lively
No, it wasn't an accident, I didn't say that. It was carefully planned, down to the tiniest mechanical and emotional detail. But it was a mistake. ~ John Paxton
Nuclear Bomb quotes by John Paxton
Our meaning is to make our little planet Earth a better place to live, to stop wars, disarm nuclear missiles, to stop diseases, AIDS, plague, cancer and to stop pollution. ~ Uri Geller
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Uri Geller
Such technological tools ... are helping us now in the hot war against terrorists who would bomb this theater if they had the capacity to do so. ~ Alan Dershowitz
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Alan Dershowitz
Your easel is the nuclear sun of an uncommon universe. ~ Robert Genn
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Robert Genn
Let us have a dagger between our teeth,a bomb in our hand, and an infinite scorn in our hearts. ~ Benito Mussolini
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Benito Mussolini
Lincoln said, 'With malice toward none, with charity to all.' Nowadays they say, 'Think the way I do or I'll bomb the daylights outta you.' ~ Lionel Barrymore
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Lionel Barrymore
My unhealthiest habit is that I like eating white bread and butter. I don't know why, I just ate it as a kid. It's weird but I love it. My healthiest? I make a really good quinoa, chickpea and tahini lemon dressing salad, or I make a really bomb green smoothie. ~ Courtney Eaton
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Courtney Eaton
If you look at groups in the Palestine region, Hamas and the Palestine Islamic jihad, more often than not in their first operations they would accidentally blow themselves up on the way to the target or the bomb wouldn't go off. ~ Michael Scheuer
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Michael Scheuer
Palin was a political Hail Mary, a long bomb in the closing minutes of a game that John McCain and Co. were certain to lose. They didn't care if she had the policy or political or emotional capacity to serve as vice president, let alone president. They were willing to drive the country off a cliff, if that's what it took to win. ~ Dee Dee Myers
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Dee Dee Myers
I worry about a democracy having nuclear weapons as much as a dictatorship having nuclear weapons. ~ Mohamed ElBaradei
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Mohamed ElBaradei
You've got the North Koreans building weapons; you got the Iranians building weapons. You've got - the Pakistanis already have at least 100 nuclear weapons. Do you think there's any serious effort in this country to come to grips with that? ~ Newt Gingrich
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Newt Gingrich
Nuclear weapons are the scourge of the earth; to mine for them, manufacture them, deploy them, use them, is a curse against God, the human family, and the earth itself. ~ Philip Berrigan
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Philip Berrigan
I'm fascinated with the attitude of younger rock bands, even ones that are making money at it. I don't ever hear them talk about it as a "career." It almost makes me think there isn't even a music industry anymore, like an atom bomb fell and it was just eradicated forever. ~ Travis Morrison
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Travis Morrison
Then he said, "That's a long way from stage designing, isn't it." She nodded. "Quite a long way." She started to ask him if he intended to do any work pertaining to the atom bomb, but she didn't, because what would it matter if he did or didn't? ~ Patricia Highsmith
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Patricia Highsmith
We have built something [a nuclear stockpile] bigger than we can drive. ~ Rachel Maddow
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Rachel Maddow
In the history of the evolution of the family, you and the millions of other migrants like you represent an ongoing proliferation of the nuclear. It is an explosive transformation, the supportive, stifling, stabilizing bonds of extended relationships weakening and giving way, leaving in their wake insecurity, anxiety, productivity, and potential. ~ Mohsin Hamid
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Mohsin Hamid
A little bloodthirsty, isn't it? (Kim)
Given what they did to Tory, I'm thinking a quick death is merciful. Not to mention they ruined one of my favorite jackets and totaled my bike. (Acheron)
Well, let's just torture then bomb the bastards. How dare they! (Pam) ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Sherrilyn Kenyon
The problems that the world faces - from nuclear proliferation to climate change - can't be tackled by the West alone. They need a coalition of not just West and East, but they need a coalition of Christian and Jew and Muslim. ~ David Miliband
Nuclear Bomb quotes by David Miliband
Curiously I was unmoved by my work. Unaffected by the act of murder, I had become entirely numb. I couldn't understand how such detachment was possible-- but I did some digging.

What I discovered would have horrified me... if I was capable of being horrified. My augmentation had included the binding of my DNA to some of history's most notorious assassins.

Are you not getting this? I'll say it in plain English--- I am the perfect killer in every sense of the word--- ---because--- ---I--- ---am--- ---every--- killer.

I'm the act of change possessed in a revolver. I am revolution packed into a suitcase bomb.

I am ever Mark David Chapman and every Charlotte Corday. I am Luigi Lucheni slow-dancing with Balthasar to the tune of semi-automatics, while Gavrilo Princip masturbates in the corner with bath-tub napalm. I am all of them and so much more... because I am going to live forever." Number Five ~ Gerard Way
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Gerard Way
Have no anxiety about anything,' Paul writes to the Philippians. In one sense it is like telling a woman with a bad head cold not to sniffle and sneeze so much or a lame man to stop dragging his feet. Or maybe it is more like telling a wino to lay off the booze or a compulsive gambler to stay away from the track.
Is anxiety a disease or an addiction? Perhaps it is something of both. Partly, perhaps, because you can't help it, and partly because for some dark reason you choose not to help it, you torment yourself with detailed visions of the worst that can possibly happen. The nagging headache turns out to be a malignant brain tumor. When your teenage son fails to get off the plane you've gone to meet, you see his picture being tacked up in the post office among the missing and his disappearance never accounted for. As the latest mid-East crisis boils, you wait for the TV game show to be interrupted by a special bulletin to the effect that major cities all over the country are being evacuated in anticipation of a nuclear attack. If Woody Allen were to play your part on the screen, you would roll in the aisles with the rest of them, but you're not so much as cracking a smile at the screen inside your own head.
Does the terrible fear of disaster conceal an even more terrible hankering for it? Do the accelerated pulse and the knot in the stomach mean that, beneath whatever their immediate cause, you are acting out some ancient and unresolved drama of childhood? Since th ~ Frederick Buechner
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Frederick Buechner
I think that we live in a very timid age, and a part of our timidity arises from our unwillingness to offend people. And as a result there are whole tribes of people now who define themselves by their offendedness. I mean, who are you if you are not offended by anything? You're kind of nobody or even worse, you are a liberal. And I just think that whole business defining yourself by anger is very problematic. And then the fact that we all kind of bend over backwards not to induce that anger becomes very often also a problem and a kind of cowardice, if you like. And I think we just need to live in a more robust society in which people say things that other people don't like and the answer to that is not to throw a bomb at them, but to say "I don't like that much" and then get on with the next business. ~ Salman Rushdie
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Salman Rushdie
Byrnes ... was concerned about Russia's postwar behavior. Russian troops had moved into Hungary and Rumania, and Byrnes thought it would be very difficult to persuade Russia to withdraw her troops from these countries, that Russia might be more manageable if impressed by American military might, and that a demonstration of the bomb might impress Russia. ~ Leo Szilard
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Leo Szilard
Financial hydrogen bombs built on personal computers by 26-year-olds with MBAs. ~ Felix Rohatyn
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Felix Rohatyn
Radio - and perhaps airplanes, and then of course, the atom bomb - was the preeminent technology of the first half of the 20th century. It was how the Third Reich controlled its citizens, spread lies, and disseminated fear. ~ Anthony Doerr
Nuclear Bomb quotes by Anthony Doerr
