The question in the Simpson case has never been whether he is guilty or not guilty but, given the facts and circumstances of this case, whether it is possible for him to be innocent. And the answer to that question has always been an unequivocal no. ~ Vincent Bugliosi
Not Guilty quotes by Vincent Bugliosi
The Christian is the man who no longer seeks his salvation, his deliverance, his justification in himself, but in Jesus Christ alone. He knows that God's Word in Jesus Christ pronounces him guilty, even when he does not feel his guilt, and God's Word in Jesus Christ pronounces him not guilty and righteous, even when he does not feel that he is righteous at all. The Christian no longer lives of himself, by his own claims and his own justification, but by God's claims and God's justification. He lives wholly by God's Word pronounced upon him, whether that Word declares him guilty or innocent. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Not Guilty quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
To be justified means more than to be declared "not guilty." It actually means to be declared righteous before God. It means God has imputed or charged the guilt of our sin to His Son, Jesus Christ, and has imputed or credited Christ's righteousness to us. ~ Jerry Bridges
Not Guilty quotes by Jerry Bridges
The officer who shot and killed Philando Castile is found not guilty. Oh well, my people of African descent; might as well get our asses back on that hamster wheel as we routinely do. It is wholly apparent that what we're forced to endure is an unremitting drizzle of unnecessary heartache as our lives, in the nation we call home, don't matter. ~ A.K. Kuykendall
Not Guilty quotes by A.K. Kuykendall
There's Nothing To Hide When Your Soul Is Not Guilty ... ~ Muhammad Imran Hasan
Not Guilty quotes by Muhammad Imran Hasan
Others did not fare so well. A German man in St. Louis who was believed to have spoken ill of his adopted country was set upon by a mob, dragged through the streets tied up in an American flag, and hanged. A jury subsequently found the mob leaders not guilty on the grounds that it had been a patriotic murder. ~ Bill Bryson
Not Guilty quotes by Bill Bryson
The most beautiful words in the English language are not 'I love you', but 'It's benign'. ~ Woody Allen
Not Guilty quotes by Woody Allen
If a jury of your peers finds you not guilty, I will reinstate you back into baseball. ~ Kenesaw Mountain Landis
Not Guilty quotes by Kenesaw Mountain Landis
I've told you before I'm not guilty of anything; I'm just guilty, that's all. ~ Mike McCormack
Not Guilty quotes by Mike McCormack
The citizens of a city are not guilty of the crimes committed in their city; but they are guilty as participants in the destiny of [humanity] as a whole and in the destiny of their city in particular; for their acts in which freedom was united with destiny have contributed to the destiny in which they participate. They are guilty, not of committing the crimes of which their group is accused, but of contributing to the destiny in which these crimes happened. ~ Paul Tillich
Not Guilty quotes by Paul Tillich
As they passed through the exit, Indrani pulled Zarina's stole over her head, covering half of her face. The two words - not guilty - had changed Zarina's stature in minutes, from a relentless human rights activist to someone running for cover. They climbed down the stairs and rushed to the parking lot. Zarina's car was in a pathetic condition - smashed windscreen, deflated tyres, broken rear view mirrors and torn upholstery. An exasperated Zarina raised her hands in utter disgust. Mob fury. Idiots, if they have won the case, let them celebrate their victory; why smash my car? The fighter in her forced Zarina to take out her cell phone and click pictures of her car from different angles. ~ Hariharan Iyer
Not Guilty quotes by Hariharan Iyer
I would like to add I'm innocent. I am not guilty. ~ Huey Newton
Not Guilty quotes by Huey Newton
I don't want to be told that it's the people with power over us who are guilty, that we're innocent slaves, that we're not guilty because we're not free. I am free! I'm building a Vernichtungslager; I have to answer to the people who'll be gassed here. I can say "No". There's nothing can stop me - as long as I can find the strength to face my destruction. ~ Vasily Grossman
Not Guilty quotes by Vasily Grossman
I thought justice ground real slow in Texas." "Only if you plead not guilty. ~ Lee Child
Not Guilty quotes by Lee Child
I had trouble putting the book down - at least, it was very hard to do whenever I was forced to by other obligations. I received it in the mail on a Thursday and finished it that following Sunday night (this is FAST for me, given everything else I have on my plate).

Anyway, this book is amazing - I was quite literally floored by the information it contained as it was stuff I hadn't heard about due to selective (heavily slanted against Jackson) media coverage at the time.

I was like a lot of people back then . . . I thought that MJ might have very well been guilty of the accusations and I remember feeling a bit annoyed that he "got off" when the jury found him not guilty.

Well, since then I have realized that my knowledge of all the facts of the case (as well as the 1993 allegations) was sorely lacking and I've done a complete about-face with regard to Michael Jackson.

It's clear to me now that the "accusers" were a bunch of frauds (I do recall feeling a bit skeptical about them at the time but didn't explore those suspicions further, as I was also doubtful about Jackson's innocence). When the testimony and facts are taken into consideration it becomes glaringly obvious that Michael Jackson was an innocent man who was taken advantage of on numerous occasions.

Not Guilty quotes by
Perhaps we still have a basically superstitious tendency to associate failure with dishonesty and guilt - failure being interpreted as "punishment." Even if a man starts out with good intentions, if he fails we tend to think he was somehow "at fault." If he was not guilty, he was at least "wrong." And "being wrong" is something we have not yet learned to face with equanimity and understanding. We either condemn it with god-like disdain or forgive it with god-like condescension. We do not manage to accept it with human compassion, humility and identification. Thus we never see the one truth that would help us begin to solve our ethical and political problems: that we are all more or less wrong, that we are all at fault, all limited and obstructed by our mixed motives, our self-deception, our greed, our self-righteousness and our tendency to aggressivity and hypocrisy. ~ Thomas Merton
Not Guilty quotes by Thomas Merton
I never sympathise with the accused unless there's a chance the accused is not guilty, but I certainly don't ever sympathise with the criminal. ~ Clint Eastwood
Not Guilty quotes by Clint Eastwood
if you're not guilty how come you're bleeding? ~ Raegan Butcher
Not Guilty quotes by Raegan Butcher
Looking back on his adolescence from the vantage point of his mid-eighties, George H.W. Bush candidly admitted, "I might have been obsessed with bodies – boobs they are now called. But what seventeen-year-old kid was not? Guilty am I. ~ H.W. Brands
Not Guilty quotes by H.W. Brands
Each snowflake in an avalanche pleads not guilty. ~ Stanislaw Jerzy Lec
Not Guilty quotes by Stanislaw Jerzy Lec
If, while I hear the wild shriek of the slave mother robbed of her little ones, I do not open my mouth, am I not guilty? ~ Lucy Stone
Not Guilty quotes by Lucy Stone
If any speak ill of thee, fly home to thy own conscience and examine thy heart. If thou art guilty, it is a just correction; if not guilty, it is a fair instruction. ~ George Herbert
Not Guilty quotes by George Herbert
I never knew a critic who made it his business to lash the faults of other writers that was not guilty of greater himself
as the hangman is generally a worse malefactor than the criminal that suffers by his hand. ~ Joseph Addison
Not Guilty quotes by Joseph Addison
Charles Darnay had yesterday pleaded Not Guilty to an indictment denouncing him (with infinite jingle and jangle) for that he was a false traitor to our serene, illustrious, excellent, and so forth, prince, our Lord the King, by reason of his having, on divers occasions, and by divers means and ways, assisted Lewis, the French King, in his wars against our said serene, illustrious, excellent, and so forth; that was to say, by coming and going, between the dominions of our said serene, illustrious, excellent, and so forth, and those of the said French Lewis, and wickedly, falsely, traitorously, and otherwise evil-adverbiously, revealing to the said French Lewis what forces our said serene, illustrious, excellent, and so forth, had in preparation to send to Canada and North America. ~ Charles Dickens
Not Guilty quotes by Charles Dickens
Khrushchev murders people without regard to race, color, or creed, and therefore whatever he is guilty of, he is not guilty of discrimination? ~ William F. Buckley, Jr.
Not Guilty quotes by William F. Buckley, Jr.
I cannot tell you how many quiet mornings I have spent sitting around hotel rooms and furnished apartments in the United States and Mexico, smoking cigarettes, plunking the guitar, and watching Perry Mason
telling myself, Well, at least I don't have a day job. And there is nothing wrong with that. I am not guilty of anything. Perry would see that in a minute. ~ Dave Hickey
Not Guilty quotes by Dave Hickey
You know what my father said about innocent clients? ... He said the scariest client a lawyer will ever have is an innocent client. Because if you fuck up and he goes to prison, it'll scar you for life ... He said there is no in-between with an innocent client. No negotiation, no plea bargain, no middle ground. There's only one verdict. You have to put an NG up on the scoreboard. There's no other verdict but not guilty."
Levin nodded thoughtfully.
"The bottom line was my old man was a damn good lawyer and he didn't like having innocent clients," I said. "I'm not sure I do, either. ~ Michael Connelly
Not Guilty quotes by Michael Connelly
If we face recession, we should not lay off employees; the company should sacrifice a profit. It's management's risk and management's responsibility. Employees are not guilty; why should they suffer? ~ Akio Morita
Not Guilty quotes by Akio Morita
I appropriate the righteousness of Christ by reminding myself that when God sees me, it is not just at the 'not guilty' level but as being clothed with the robes of Jesus ~ Luma Simms
Not Guilty quotes by Luma Simms
Grief is not as heavy as guilt, but it takes more away from you. ~ Veronica Roth
Not Guilty quotes by Veronica Roth
I think Americans are not guilty for 9/11; I think President Bush is not guilty for 9/11. ~ Condoleezza Rice
Not Guilty quotes by Condoleezza Rice
Guilt is not a response to anger; it is a response to one's own actions or lack of action. If it leads to change then it can be useful, since it is then no longer guilt but the beginning of knowledge. Yet all too often, guilt is just another name for impotence, for defensiveness destructive of communication; it becomes a device to protect ignorance and the continuation of things the way they are, the ultimate protection for changelessness. ~ Audre Lorde
Not Guilty quotes by Audre Lorde
I play until my fingers are blue and stiff from the cold, and then I keep on playing. Until I'm lost in the music. Until I am the music
notes and chords, the melody and harmony. It hurts, but it's okay because when I'm the music, I'm not me. Not sad. Not afraid. Not desperate. Not guilty. ~ Jennifer Donnelly
Not Guilty quotes by Jennifer Donnelly
When a person is found not guilty, they're found not guilty. ~ R. Kelly
Not Guilty quotes by R. Kelly
But still Adam holds his ground. The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the fruit of the tree, and I ate. He confesses his sin, but as he confesses, he takes to flight again. 'You have given me the woman, not I. I am not guilty, you are guilty.' The double light of creation and sin is exploited. 'The woman is surely your creature, it is your own work that has caused me to fall. Why have you brought forth an imperfect creation, and is it my fault?' So instead of surrendering Adam falls back on one art learned from the serpent, that of correcting the idea of God, of appealing from God the Creator to a better, a different God. That is, he flees again. The woman takes to flight with him and blames the serpent; that is, she really blames the Creator of the serpent. Adam has not surrendered, he has not confessed. He has appealed to his conscience, to his knowledge of good and evil, and out of this knowledge he has accused his Creator. He has not recognized the grace of the Creator which proves itself true by the fact that he calls Adam, by the fact that he does not let him flee. Adam sees this grace only as hate, as wrath, and this wrath kindles his own hate, his rebellion, his will to escape from God. Adam remains in the Fall. The Fall accelerates and becomes infinite. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Not Guilty quotes by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
What man's not guilty? It's taken you a long time to learn
That everybody loves himself more than his neighbour. ~ Euripides
Not Guilty quotes by Euripides
At least she's not guilty of integrity, and that's more than I can say of any Bell in four generations except my grandfather and myself. ~ James Thurber
Not Guilty quotes by James Thurber
But now, supposing that, instead of confessing the sins of the world which she has taken upon herself, the Church - or a group of Christians who arrogate to themselves the name of "Church" - becomes a social mechanism for self-justification? Supposing this "Church," which is in reality no church at all, takes to herself the function of declaring that everyone else is guilty and rationalizing the sins of her members as acts of virtue? Suppose that she becomes a perfect and faultless machine for declaring herself not guilty? Suppose that she provides men with a convenient method of deciding when they do or do not need to accuse themselves of anything before God? Supposing that, instead of conscience, she provides men with the support of unanimous group approval or disapproval?

This is what explains the fact that some men can commit murder in the name of Christ and believe themselves guiltless, indeed congratulate themselves on having served Him well. For them, the function of "the Church" is to provide a milieu in which one can decide what is and is not guilty, what is or is not sinful. The "Church" becomes simply a place where men gather to decree that others are guilty and they themselves are innocent. The fact that others then accuse them of hypocrisy and of flagrant infidelity to truth only confirms them in their own self-assured righteousness. The "Church" in such an event becomes a machine for setting the unquiet conscience at rest. It is a perfectly efficient ~ Thomas Merton
Not Guilty quotes by Thomas Merton
As usual, Vanderhyde's memory was sharp enough when it suited him. 'That's true. All the same, you were there.' 'Yes, I was. But I left several hours before the fire started. Not guilty, your honour.' 'Why were you there in the first place?' 'To meet a friend for a drink.' 'A seedy place for a drink.' 'Was it? You'll have to remember, Inspector, I couldn't see anything. It certainly didn't smell or feel particularly disreputable.' 'Point taken.' 'I had my memories. To me, it was the same old Central Hotel I'd lunched in and danced in. I quite enjoyed the evening. ~ Ian Rankin
Not Guilty quotes by Ian Rankin
Of all deadly sins, this is the most deadly, namely, that any one should think he is not guilty of a damnable and deadly sin before God. ~ Martin Luther
Not Guilty quotes by Martin Luther
It's true I didn't get a fair trial, but the problem is people don't understand the details. It is important to understand the details of the trial and why I'm not guilty under the charges that were brought against me. ~ Chen Shui-bian
Not Guilty quotes by Chen Shui-bian
Woman, where are they? Has no one judged you guilty?"
She answers "No one, sir."
Then Jesus says, "I also don't judge you guilty. You may go now, but don't sin anymore."
If you have ever wondered how God reacts when you fail, frame these words and hang them on the wall.Read them. Ponder them.Drink from them. Stand below them and let them wash over your soul.
Or better still, take him with you to to your canyon of shame. Invite Christ to journey with you back to the Fremont Bridge of your world. Let Him stand beside you as you retell the events of the darkest nights of your soul.
And then listen. Listen carefully. He's speaking.
"I don't judge you guilty."
And watch. Watch carefully. He's writing. He's leaving a message. Not in the sand, but on a cross.
Not with his hand, but with his blood.
His message has two words: not guilty. ~ Max Lucado
Not Guilty quotes by Max Lucado
If any speak ill of thee, flee home to thy own conscience, and examine thy heart: if thou be guilty, it is a just correction; if not guilty, it is a fair instruction: make use of both; so shalt thou distil honey out of gall, and out of an open enemy create a secret friend. ~ Francis Quarles
Not Guilty quotes by Francis Quarles
We cannot assume the injustice of any actions which only create offense, and especially as regards religion and morals. He who utters or does anything to wound the conscience and moral sense of others, may indeed act immorally; but, so long as he is not guilty of being importunate, he violates no right. ~ Wilhelm Von Humboldt
Not Guilty quotes by Wilhelm Von Humboldt
To be innocent is to be not guilty; but to be virtuous is to overcome our evil inclinations. ~ William Penn
Not Guilty quotes by William Penn
The philosophers who in their treatises of ethics assigned supreme value to justice and applied the yardstick of justice to ali social institutions were not guilty of such deceit. They did not support selfish group concerns by declaring them alone just, fair, and good, and smear ali dissenters by depicting them as the apologists of unfair causes. They were Platonists who believed that a perennial idea of absolute justice exists and that it is the duty of man to organize ali human institutions in conformity with this ideal. Cognition of justice is imparted to man by an inner voice, i.e., by intuition. The champions of this doctrine did not ask what the consequences of realizing the schemes they called just would be. They silently assumed either that these consequences will be beneficiai or that mankind is bound to put up even with very painful consequences of justice. Still less did these teachers of morality pay attention to the fact that people can and really do disagree with regard to the interpretation of the inner voice and that no method of peacefully settling such disagreements can be found.
Ali these ethical doctrines have failed to comprehend that there is, outside of social bonds and preceding, temporally or logically, the existence of society, nothing to which the epithet "just" can be given. A hypothetical isolated individual must under the pressure of biological competition look upon ali other people as deadly foes. His only concern is to preserve his own lif ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Not Guilty quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
I don't fear jail because I know I'm not guilty. I know I did nothing wrong. I did nothing criminal and I also believe my God will get me through this. ~ Kenneth Lay
Not Guilty quotes by Kenneth Lay
I was silently reciting to myself the 23rd Psalm, 'The Lord is my shepherd; I shal not want ... ' [ ... ] The man with the tinted spectacles and the man from the police department were looking at me thoughtfully. They mistook my silence as a sign of weakening. I knew I had to show courage. In fact, I felt much better for having recited the words of the psalm. I had not been so free of fear the whole evening as I was in that moment standing beside the black jeep, a symbol of repression. I lifted my head and said in a loud and firm voice, 'I'm not guilty! I have nothing to confess. ~ Nien Cheng
Not Guilty quotes by Nien Cheng
They have read your novel,' Woland said, 'and they said only one thing, that, unfortunately, it is not finished. So I wanted to show you your hero. He has been sitting here for about two thousand years, sleeping, but, when the moon is full, he is tormented, as you see, by insomnia. And it torments not only him, but his faithful guardian, the dog.

If it is true that cowardice is the most grave vice, then the dog, at least, is not guilty of it. The only thing that brave creature ever feared was thunderstorms. But what can be done, the one who loves must share the fate of the one who is loved. ~ Mikhail Bulgakov
Not Guilty quotes by Mikhail Bulgakov
Paul presents the Good News: Salvation is available to all, regardless of a person's identity, sin, or heritage. We are saved by grace (unearned, undeserved favor from God) through faith (complete trust) in Christ and his finished work. Through him we can stand before God justified, not guilty ~ Anonymous
Not Guilty quotes by Anonymous
Tacitus laughed at the Germanic tribes who tried to stop a torrent with their shields, but it is no less naive to believe in planetary migration or to believe in the establishment by purely human means of a society fully satisfied and perfectly inoffensive and continuing to progress indefinitely. Al lthis proves that man ,thoough he has inevitably become less naive in some things, has nontheless learned nothing as far as essentials are concerned; the only thing that man is capable of when left to himself is to "commit the oldest sins the newest kind of ways," as Shakespeare would say. And the world being what it is, one is doubtless not guilty of a truism in adding that it is better to go to Heaven naively than to go intelligently to hell. ~ Frithjof Schuon
Not Guilty quotes by Frithjof Schuon
Jigga, Kells, Not Guilty ~ R. Kelly
Not Guilty quotes by R. Kelly
Because He freely owned my guilt I may freely own my sin. Guilty as charged, and yet, not guilty at all. ~ R.C. Sproul Jr.

Once again, as a flawed evaluator of dictators and failed strategist who has permitted Russia back in as a major player in the Middle East, is Hillary Clinton guilty or not guilty? ~ Chris Christie
Not Guilty quotes by Chris Christie
But I will plead not guilty until death. I will plead not guilty until there is proof to the contrary. ~ Augustin Misago
Not Guilty quotes by Augustin Misago
When the whole is at stake, there is no crime except that of rejecting the whole, or not defending it ... Those who identify themselves with the whole, who are installed as the leaders and defenders of the whole can make mistakes, but they cannot do wrong they are not guilty. They may become guilty again when this identification no longer holds, when they are gone. ~ Herbert Marcuse
Not Guilty quotes by Herbert Marcuse
Hillary Clinton: putting big government spending financed by the Chinese ahead of good-paying jobs for middle-class Americans. Is she guilty or not guilty? ~ Chris Christie
Not Guilty quotes by Chris Christie
So I was still guilty. And if I was not guilty because one cannot be guilty of betraying a criminal, then I was guilty of having loved a criminal. ~ Bernhard Schlink
Not Guilty quotes by Bernhard Schlink
The end of the trial and the 'not guilty' verdicts on all counts, clearing Michael of all charges, mean that he can now concentrate on the future and his art. ~ LaToya Jackson
Not Guilty quotes by LaToya Jackson
I'm absolutely, l00 percent, not guilty. ~ O.J. Simpson
Not Guilty quotes by O.J. Simpson
If she pleaded not guilty, David said she could suggest that the boy had been the agressor, or maybe it was all some teenage fantasy that went too far. Maybe the sex never really happened. Mary Kay saw that scenario as ridiculous. Almost laughable. She didn't think it would work. "I'm carrying his baby," she said.
Scratch that. ~ Gregg Olsen
Not Guilty quotes by Gregg Olsen
Hovind said he was entering a not guilty plea 'under duress'. ~ Kent Hovind
Not Guilty quotes by Kent Hovind
When you descant on the faults of others, consider whether you be not guilty of the same. To gain knowledge of ourselves, the best way is to convert the imperfections of others into a mirror for discovering our own. ~ Henry Home, Lord Kames
Not Guilty quotes by Henry Home, Lord Kames
I do kind of aspire to do comedy that appeals to a wide range of audiences and doesn't divide people. I never want to do material that makes people laugh at the expense of making other people feel bad - not to say I'm not guilty of that at times ... I try and make humor out of the really important issues of the day, like Hot Pockets and elevators and not wanting to get out of bed. ~ Jim Gaffigan
Not Guilty quotes by Jim Gaffigan
When you give decision that the guilty is not guilty, only then will the guilty become not guilty. ~ Dada Bhagwan
Not Guilty quotes by Dada Bhagwan
Teach the ignorant as much as you can; society is culpable in not providing a free education for all and it must answer for the night which it produces. If the soul is left in darkness sins will be committed. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but he who causes the darkness. ~ Victor Hugo
Not Guilty quotes by Victor Hugo
I understand he's not guilty of anything except maybe loving too much. This boy, he is just ... mine. ~ Deb Caletti
Not Guilty quotes by Deb Caletti
And Jakub realized that this child had done no harm, that he was not guilty of anything, and yet had been born with bad eyes and would have them forever. And he reflected further that what he had held against others was something given, something they came into the world with and carried with them like a heavy wire fence. He reflected that he had no privileged right to high-mindedness and that the highest degree of high-mindedness is to love people even though they are murderers. ~ Milan Kundera
Not Guilty quotes by Milan Kundera

Not Guilty quotes by Andrew Fastow
Souls are blameless. We commit crimes inside of our mind. ~ Munia Khan
Not Guilty quotes by Munia Khan
I don't care whether the person is guilty or not guilty. It's not my business to establish guilt or innocence. It's a court of law that does that and a jury does that, but not me. ~ Werner Herzog
Not Guilty quotes by Werner Herzog
Dear Hitler
Take away the torches I'm not guilty I had to have this ~ Leonard Cohen
Not Guilty quotes by Leonard Cohen
I told you what I was when we began. I'm the black iris watered by poison. The wolf that raised its head among sheep and devoured its way, ruthless and bloody, to freedom. I never forgave, never forgot.
I didn't feel sorry. I felt bad. As in bad girl, not guilty. And feeling bad made me feel so fucking good. ~ Leah Raeder
Not Guilty quotes by Leah Raeder
I tell myself I use art to promote dissent, but maybe I am just using dissent to promote my art. I plead not guilty to selling out. But I plead it from a bigger house than I used to live in. ~ Banksy
Not Guilty quotes by Banksy
Most of the time, perhaps 99 percent of the time, the defendant is guilty; his screams are the final protest of a human being about to lost his most precious possession, his freedom. ~ Elizabeth F. Loftus
Not Guilty quotes by Elizabeth F. Loftus
Well, demonization itself can help ... to provide an alibi. You succumb to the Devil incarnate, and as a result you're not guilty yourself. ~ Hannah Arendt
Not Guilty quotes by Hannah Arendt

"But it beats extradition. ~ Howard Tayler

Whether life finds us guilty or not guilty, we ourselves know we are not innocent. ~ Sandor Marai
Not Guilty quotes by Sandor Marai
I hate people saying anything stupid. I don't really suffer fools very well at all. When people are acting like idiots, not that I'm not guilty of doing the odd idiotic thing myself from time to time, but when people say stupid things, it stresses me out. ~ Joshua Jackson
Not Guilty quotes by Joshua Jackson
What I build upon I shall be told is a folly that wise men are not guilty of: I own it; but whilst it proceeds from a real passion inherent in our nature, it is sufficient to demonstrate that we are born with a repugnancy to the killing, and consequently the eating of animals; for it is impossible that a natural appetite should ever prompt us to act, or desire others to do, what we have an aversion to, be it as foolish as it will. ~ Sylvester Graham
Not Guilty quotes by Sylvester Graham
Shattered by the cumulative effect of so much horror and death, Joan was again afflicted by a crisis of faith. How could a good and benevolent God let such a thing happen? How could He so terribly afflict even children and babies, who were not guilty of any sin? ~ Donna Woolfolk Cross
Not Guilty quotes by Donna Woolfolk Cross
There used to be, dirtside, a legal defenses called "diminished capacity" and "not guilty by reason on insanity." These concepts would bewilder a Loonie. In Luna City a man would necessarily be of diminished mental capacity to even think about rape; to carry one out would be the strongest possible proof of insanity - but among Loonies such mental disorders would not gain a rapist any sympathy. loonies do not psychoanalyze a rapist; they kill him. Now. Fast. Brutally. ~ Robert A. Heinlein
Not Guilty quotes by Robert A. Heinlein
I have never sold my story, done 'Hello!' magazine, any of that stuff. I'm not guilty of exploiting my private life for cash and then saying, 'Oh, I don't want to talk about my private life.' I've never crossed that line. ~ Paul Merton
Not Guilty quotes by Paul Merton
Hillary Clinton, as an awful judge of the character of a dictator and butcher in the Middle East. Is she guilty or not guilty? ~ Chris Christie
Not Guilty quotes by Chris Christie
The discipline that aims to be objective and scientific can be used to rationalize religious-ethnic prejudiced and justify imperial ambitions. Israelis, Palestinians and the evangelical imperialists of nineteenth century have all been guilty of commandeering the same events and assigning them contradictory meanings and facts. ~ Simon Sebag Montefiore
Not Guilty quotes by Simon Sebag Montefiore
Too much of our history will seem to have taken place in the halls of capitols, where the accusers have mostly been guilty, and so have borne witness to nothing. ~ Wendell Berry
Not Guilty quotes by Wendell Berry
There is only one salvation for you: take yourself up, and make yourself responsible for all the sins of men. For indeed it is so, my friend, and the moment you make yourself sincerely responsible for everything and everyone, you will see at once that it is really so, that it is you who are guilty on behalf of all and for all. Whereas by shifting your own laziness and powerlessness onto others, you will end by sharing in Satan's pride and murmuring against God.
The Brothers Karamazov
Book VI - The Russian Monk, Chapter 3 - Conversations and Exhortations of Father Zosima. ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Not Guilty quotes by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
He looked back at her. 'I mean Miranda's plan?'
She hated admitting it, but ... 'As crazy as it is, it might have.'
He inhaled. 'Did you like kissing him?'
Too much She almost lied, but then ... 'Probably no more than you enjoyed kissing Jessie.' And she knew he enjoyed it because he'd looked so guilty the day she'd called him on it.
He stared out the window again. 'You could have lied on that one. ~ C.C. Hunter

Charlotte is the sort of person who's inclined to feel guilty imagining so much as a kiss between her and someone who's already involved, the sort of person who can't really even manage a fantasy about a movie star who might be married, much as she finds, let's say, Andy Garcia to be worth imagnining, Charlotte is the sort of person who will have to get Andy Garcia divorced, within the fantasy but having nothing to do with having met her, he has to be divorced prior to having met her in order for her to think about kissing him, and so Charlotte tends to find it easier to just fantasize about celebrities she knows are single than to go to all that trouble. ~ Elizabeth Crane
