No matter how potent your talents are, they remain to be out of use until you take time to develop them to their optimum level. This calls for preparation. Through preparation, personal branding, consistent exposure and productive connections, you set up a condition for your dreams to flourish and bear fruits! ~ Israelmore Ayivor
Natural Ability quotes by Israelmore Ayivor
Academies that are founded at public expense are instituted not so much to cultivate men's natural abilities as to restrain them. ~ Baruch Spinoza
Natural Ability quotes by Baruch Spinoza
I think I have a natural ability to lead. ~ Mark Sanchez
Natural Ability quotes by Mark Sanchez
Most writers write too much. I have the exact opposite problem. I feel I could write almost anything in a paragraph. I have a natural ability to condense, and so I often think, "Are you kidding me? Five thousand words? How am I gonna make 5,000 words out of that?" ~ Fran Lebowitz
Natural Ability quotes by Fran Lebowitz
Talent is a gift, but our character is a choice. Talent is natural ability, our gift from God, but we have the power to determine our character. That power rests on a foundation consisting of the choices we make in life. And those choices almost always dictate the amount of trust others have in us, and to what level of leadership we rise. ~ John C. Maxwell
Natural Ability quotes by John C. Maxwell
Grace is God's free empowerment that gives us the ability to go beyond our natural ability. W ~ John Bevere
Natural Ability quotes by John Bevere
The emotion of love is an affective emotion, directly reacting to goodness, rather than an aggressive one, reacting to challenge. Not only our so-called natural ability to grow and propagate exemplify natural love, but every faculty has a built-in affinity for what accords with its nature. By passion we mean some result of being acted on: either a form induced by the agent (like weight) or a movement consequent on the form (like falling to the ground). Whatever we desire acts on us in this way, first arousing an emotional attachment to itself and making itself agreeable, and then drawing us to seek it. The first change the object produces in our appetite is a feeling of its agreeableness: we call this love (weight can be thought of as a sort of natural love); then desire moves us to seek the object and pleasure comes to rest in it. Clearly then, as a change induced in us by an agent, love is a passion: the affective emotion strictly so, the will to love by stretching of the term. Love unites by making what is loved as agreeable to the lover as if it were himself or a part of himself. Though love is not itself a movement of the appetite towards an object, it is a change the appetite undergoes rendering an object agreeable. Favour is a freely chosen and willing love, open only to reasoning creatures; and charity―literally, holding dear―is a perfect form of love in which what is loved is highly prized. To love, as Aristotle says, is to want someone's good; so its object is twofo ~ Thomas Aquinas
Natural Ability quotes by Thomas Aquinas
It has always been believed that the woman has a power of perception beyond what is literally seen and heard. Whether it is called sixth sense or woman's intuition, it is a highly developed, extra sensitive ability to see what is behind and forward in time. The culture of the Goddess appears to have developed this natural ability and made it into a source of power and prestige for thousands of years. ~ Christina Crawford
Natural Ability quotes by Christina Crawford
Despite a lack of natural ability, I did have the one element necessary to all early creativity: naïveté, that fabulous quality that keeps you from knowing just how unsuited you are for what you are about to do. ~ Steve Martin
Natural Ability quotes by Steve Martin
From The Ghost Wars- on the concept of the Torah as ancient science fiction. "Take the story of the fall of the tower of Babel. Let's say this represents not an act of God, nor a metaphor for this planet's diverse linguistic heritage; but a catastrophic act of terrorism by the Divisionists to sever mankind from the neural net. The internet in this situation becomes mankind's attempt to build a physical replacement for a natural ability long lost. Think of it as a wooden leg or a pacemaker. ~ Cole J. Davis
Natural Ability quotes by Cole J. Davis
People always told me that my natural ability and good eyesight were the reasons for my success as a hitter. They never talk about the practice, practice, practice. ~ Ted Williams
Natural Ability quotes by Ted Williams
If I was a carpenter, and I was trying to maintain my father's musical legacy, then I guess it would be a burden because it wouldn't be natural to me to be dealing in music when my natural ability is in woodwork or whatever. But because my natural talent is also music, it kind of makes it much easier. ~ Stephen Marley
Natural Ability quotes by Stephen Marley
I soon came to know that when we align our will with the Lord's, nothing is impossible. I learned that through the enabling power of the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ, I could do things beyond my own natural ability. ~ Lori E. Woodland
Natural Ability quotes by Lori E. Woodland
The road to happiness lies in two simple principles: find what it is that interests you and that you can do well, and when you find it put your whole soul into it-every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have. ~ John D. Rockefeller III
Natural Ability quotes by John D. Rockefeller III
Real excellence does not come cheaply. A certain price must be paid in terms of practice, patience, and persistence - natural ability notwithstanding. ~ Stephen Covey
Natural Ability quotes by Stephen Covey
Few golfers are born with the natural talent for hitting the ball, but every player is blessed with the God-given ability to throw a club. ~ Henry Beard
Natural Ability quotes by Henry Beard
The guiding visionary behind Project Spectrum is Howard Gardner, a psychologist at the Harvard School of Education.7 "The time has come," Gardner told me, "to broaden our notion of the spectrum of talents. The single most important contribution education can make to a child's development is to help him toward a field where his talents best suit him, where he will be satisfied and competent. We've completely lost sight of that. Instead we subject everyone to an education where, if you succeed, you will be best suited to be a college professor. And we evaluate everyone along the way according to whether they meet that narrow standard of success. We should spend less time ranking children and more time helping them to identify their natural competencies and gifts, and cultivate those. There are hundreds and hundreds of ways to succeed, and many, many different abilities that will help you get there. ~ Daniel Goleman
Natural Ability quotes by Daniel Goleman
Until relatively recently, law enforcement's ability to determine an individual's location and track their movements was largely limited to natural human powers of observation. ~ Ron Wyden
Natural Ability quotes by Ron Wyden
I have the ability to make a choice in how I respond. My natural response does not have to be the only response I have. ~ Jill Bolte Taylor
Natural Ability quotes by Jill Bolte Taylor
When I played, I had a natural ability to jump and run, and I just wanted to get bigger and heavier. ~ Brady Anderson
Natural Ability quotes by Brady Anderson
Real talent harnesses what it has and unlocks what it doesn't. There is natural ability, there is the discipline that develops natural ability, there is the unending study of one's craft, and there is the exponential lifting of performance by the selfless combination of efforts. ~ Ken Goldstein
Natural Ability quotes by Ken Goldstein
Natural ability can only take you so far. Continual improvement is all that matters. ~ Lorelei James
Natural Ability quotes by Lorelei James
Our exclusive dependence on rational thought and language has obscured our natural ability to sense the flow of energy. ~ Ilchi Lee
Natural Ability quotes by Ilchi Lee
More than anything, this place feels familiar. I bury my hands in the hot sand and think about the embodiment of memory or, more specifically, our natural ability to carry the past in our bodies and minds. Individually, every grain of sand brushing against my hands represents a story, an experience, and a block for me to build upon for the next generation. I quietly thank this ancestor of mine for surviving the trip so that I could one day return. ~ Raquel Cepeda
Natural Ability quotes by Raquel Cepeda
Poetry is, above all, a singing art of natural and magical connection because, though it is born out of one's person's solitude, it has the ability to reach out and touch in a humane and warmly illuminating way the solitude, even the loneliness, of others. That is why, to me, poetry is one of the most vital treasures that humanity possesses; it is a bridge between separated souls. ~ Brendan Kennelly
Natural Ability quotes by Brendan Kennelly
I believe that my parents helped me to keep my natural psychic abilities open. I think most kids see angels or fairies, and because my parents were such open people, I kept that alive. ~ Doreen Virtue
Natural Ability quotes by Doreen Virtue
He (Mohammed) seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh urges us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected; he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. ~ Thomas Aquinas
Natural Ability quotes by Thomas Aquinas
All I have is natural ability. ~ Mickey Mantle
Natural Ability quotes by Mickey Mantle
Natural abilities can almost compensate for the want of every kind of cultivation, but no cultivation of the mind can make up for the want of natural abilities. ~ John Ruskin
Natural Ability quotes by John Ruskin
Being a winner sometimes has little to do with the score. If your players seize the opportunity to be better today than they were yesterday in softball, in math, in music, in anything worth doing in life, regardless of natural ability, that will make them winners on and off the field. ~ Lawrence Hsieh
Natural Ability quotes by Lawrence Hsieh
Wrestling is a one-on-one experience and if something goes wrong you can't point a finger and blame somebody else. What you do is up to you. And yet it's a team sport, because whether your team wins or loses is a result of the cumulative effect of the matches. Wrestling is a great confidence builder because it's not all about strength. You have to use your balance and skill and technique and if you do, you can overcome a lot of muscle and bulk guys, and even those who have natural ability. Basically, you can out-technique an opponent. ~ Dennis Hastert
Natural Ability quotes by Dennis Hastert
But every time our ability to access information and to communicate it to others is improved, in some sense we have achieved an increase over natural intelligence. ~ Vernor Vinge
Natural Ability quotes by Vernor Vinge
Many of those who have experienced trauma in early childhood grow up to become adults with dysfunctional lives and dysfunctional relationships, never being able to solve such issues within themselves, not even with the help of the best therapists in the world, because the root cause of it has been removed by the institutions in control of mental health training programs, mainstream media and public opinion. And the root cause of all evil, including self-inflicted evil, lays on the capacity to differentiate good from evil, which has helped us survive as a society and as individuals throughout the entirety of human history and up to this day. Once you remove this natural ability from anyone's awareness, no theory, despite the amount of logic and common sense in it, will ever work. As a matter of fact, not many people know what serves their best interest, because they don't even know what is good or evil. They relativize their ignorance to justify their stupidity. And this constitutes a thicker layer on top of their innate capacity to perceive reality. Many problems, including those related to self-esteem, could easily be solved, if one was able of properly differentiating what promotes survival from what leads to death. Whenever a large group of people lacks such capacity, they are promoting a dysfunctional society by default, and in doing so, replicating the same traumas that made them themselves dysfunctional as humans. And that's how an overall mindset rooted on victimizatio ~ Robin Sacredfire
Natural Ability quotes by Robin Sacredfire
I feel I have to work hard to nurture whatever talent I have as an actor. I feel like it's not natural to me. So I don't take it for granted ... What I think is my natural ability - which is writing - I think I totally take that for granted. ~ David Duchovny
Natural Ability quotes by David Duchovny
Never confuse precision with simplicity - the best people make highly-complex things seem easy through natural ability. ~ Stewart Stafford
Natural Ability quotes by Stewart Stafford
Confucius believed that through self-cultivation, one can mold one's character because it is plastic and malleable. Virtue does not come from one's natural ability or innate capacity, but from one's single-minded effort and disciplined practice. Work is therefore not an expression of an individual's own passions and values, but of one's persistent dedication to loving one's family and community. ~ Russell Jeung
Natural Ability quotes by Russell Jeung
Real peace is only ever found in the presence, power, and grace of the Savior, the King, the Lamb, the I am. That peace is yours even when the storms of life take you beyond your natural ability, wisdom, and strength. You can live with hope and courage in the middle of what once would have produced discouragement and fear because you know you are never alone. The I am inhabits all situations, relationships, and locations by his grace. He is in you. He is with you. He is for you. He is your hope. ~ Paul David Tripp
Natural Ability quotes by Paul David Tripp
There are some musicians who are talented and see themselves as some kind of natural geniuses or something because of a certain amount of natural ability. But that is often rarely the case over the long term. ~ Pat Metheny
Natural Ability quotes by Pat Metheny
If I win, it's because of my natural ability and if I lose, it's because I wasn't trying so hard. ~ Kelly Ripa
Natural Ability quotes by Kelly Ripa
Natural ability is by far the best, but many men have succeeded in winning high renown by skill that is the fruit of teaching. ~ Pindar
Natural Ability quotes by Pindar
Simm watched the hanging with disgust. Why would the young man pretend to be a spy when he had no skills and no natural ability? As far as he could tell there had been no secret inks, no codes, and little effort to keep his movements secret. Maybe the world was better off without such fools; fledglings who fell out of the sky only to die on the ground. ~ Dory Codington
Natural Ability quotes by Dory Codington
Natural ability and educational advantages do not figure as factors in this matter of prayer; but a capacity for faith, the power of a thorough consecration, the ability of self-littleness, an absolute losing of one's self in God's glory and an ever present and insatiable yearning and seeking after all the fullness of God. ~ Edward McKendree Bounds
Natural Ability quotes by Edward McKendree Bounds
As far as natural ability, I was always athletic. ~ Troy Brown
Natural Ability quotes by Troy Brown
There were a lot of running backs as good as me. The real difference was that I could focus. I never laid back and relied on natural ability. ~ Jim Brown
Natural Ability quotes by Jim Brown
Sam Snead was born with a natural ability to keep his bar bills as low as his golf scores. ~ Jimmy Demaret
Natural Ability quotes by Jimmy Demaret
It's not the norm, I guess, to see someone as aggressive as me being more or less very athletic. You see me running, having a big, violent hit, it's going to look bad, but that's the natural ability I've been given. Why would I let it run to the wayside and not use it? ~ Ndamukong Suh
Natural Ability quotes by Ndamukong Suh
It is impossible for men by their own strength and natural ability to become Christians, but it is possible for God to make them Christians. ~ Ezekiel Hopkins
Natural Ability quotes by Ezekiel Hopkins
Jay: Looks like you misspelled the Treaty of Versailles.
Sara: Yeah, well. My brother's natural ability for languages didn't rub off on me.
Jay: ... I'm not talking about Versailles. I have no idea if you spelled that right. I'm talking about the word 'treaty. ~ Tracy Bilen
Natural Ability quotes by Tracy Bilen
The idea that the mind can extend even beyond the body is an intriguing one, and is bound to become more pressing as we increasingly develop technologies that augment our natural abilities. ~ Julian Baggini
Natural Ability quotes by Julian Baggini
Being a sport star and a chef both require passion, commitment, work and natural ability. ~ Paul Rankin
Natural Ability quotes by Paul Rankin
Sometimes I think if I had the same body and the same natural ability and someone else's brain, who knows how good a player I might have been. ~ Mickey Mantle
Natural Ability quotes by Mickey Mantle
If one ... struggles for what is beyond the most proper, doing not in accordance with one's natural ability, acting not with one's genuine feeling, one will surely get into trouble ... ~ Guo Xiang
Natural Ability quotes by Guo Xiang
I could never be a manager. All I have is natural ability. ~ Mickey Mantle
Natural Ability quotes by Mickey Mantle
14. I say this in order to make it clear that the one who would go to God relying on natural ability and reasoning will not be very spiritual. There are some who think that by pure force and the activity of the senses, which of itself is lowly and no more than natural, they can reach the strength and height of the supernatural spirit. One does not attain to this peak without surpassing and leaving aside the activity of the senses. ~ San Juan De La Cruz
Natural Ability quotes by San Juan De La Cruz
Running taught me valuable lessons. In cross-country competition, training counted more than intrinsic ability, and I could compensate for a lack of natural aptitude with diligence and discipline. I applied this in everything I did. ~ Nelson Mandela
Natural Ability quotes by Nelson Mandela
We have a natural creative ability and it is very important to realize this. ~ Dalai Lama
Natural Ability quotes by Dalai Lama
Everybody has talent and it's just a matter of moving around until you've discovered what it is. A talent is a combination of something you love a great deal and something you can lose yourself in - something that you can start at 9 o'clock, look up from your work and it's 10 o'clock at night - and also something that you have a talent, not a talent for, but skills that you have a natural ability to do very well. And usually those two things go together. ~ George Lucas
Natural Ability quotes by George Lucas
Humankind's struggle against a hostile environment causes people throughout the ages to deploy their full armory of logic, training, strategy, imagination, inventiveness, and creativity. We are born with the natural ability to strategize. The most influential tool in humankind's intellectual tool kit is the ability to regenerate a sense of unruffled alertness, to establish a poised stance that leads to intuitive discoveries generated by the conscious and unconscious mind constantly filtering a plethora of data, selecting critical facts, and producing elegant solutions to seemingly insoluble dilemmas. ~ Kilroy J. Oldster
Natural Ability quotes by Kilroy J. Oldster
All I had was natural ability. ~ Branch Rickey
Natural Ability quotes by Branch Rickey
Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have. ~ Zig Ziglar
Natural Ability quotes by Zig Ziglar
My talent is working very hard and having a decent nose. A good nose for a story and the ability to get a little bit dirty sometimes, to get a little bit physical sometimes chasing a story. And to feel it, I mean I feel it. ~ Steve Bunce
Natural Ability quotes by Steve Bunce
You've got to make the most of where you are. Then, when you're somewhere else, you've got to have the ability to fulfill that. ~ Anthony Edwards
Natural Ability quotes by Anthony Edwards
What we are entering is a power age, and the importance of the power age lies in its ability, rightly used with the wage motive behind it, to increase and cheapen production so that all of us may have more of this world's goods. The way to liberty, the way to equality of opportunity, the way from empty phrases to actualities, lies through power ~ Henry Ford
Natural Ability quotes by Henry Ford
We have become a force of nature Not long ago, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, drought, forest fires, even earthquakes and volcanic explosions were accepted as "natural disasters or "acts of God." But now, we have joined God, powerful enough to influence these events. ~ David Suzuki
Natural Ability quotes by David Suzuki
The problem with cosmetics exists only when women feel invisible or inadequate without them. The problem with working out exists only if women hate ourselves when we don't. When a woman is forced to adorn herself to buy a hearing, when she needs her grooming in order to protect her identity, when she goes hungry in order to keep her job, when she must attract a lover so that she can take care of her children, that is exactly what makes "beauty" hurt. Because what hurts women about the beauty myth is not adornment, or expressed sexuality, or time spent grooming, or the desire to attract a lover. Many mammals groom, and every culture uses adornment. "Natural" and "unnatural" are not the terms in question. The actual struggle is between pain and pleasure, freedom and compulsion. ~ Naomi Wolf
Natural Ability quotes by Naomi Wolf
What would people in their old lives be saying about these girls? Would they be called missing? Would some documentary program on the ABC that nobody watched, or one of those thin newspapers nobody read, somehow connect their cases, find the thread to make them a story? The Lost Girls, they could be called. Would it be said, they 'disappeared', 'were lost'? Would it be said that they were abandoned or taken, the way people said a girl was attacked, a woman was raped, this femaleness always at the centre, as if womanhood itself were the cause of these things? As if the girls somehow, through the natural way of things, did it to themselves. They lured abduction and abandonment to themselves, they marshalled themselves into this prison where they had made their beds, and now, once more, were lying in them. ~ Charlotte Wood
Natural Ability quotes by Charlotte Wood
The acquisition of knowledge from books provides an experience different from the Internet. Reading is relatively time-consuming; to ease the process, style is important. Because it is not possible to read all books on a given subject, much less the totality of books, or to organize easily everything one has read, learning from books places a premium on conceptual thinking - the ability to recognize comparable data and events and project patterns into the future. And style propels the reader into a relationship with the author, or with the subject matter, by fusing substance and aesthetics. ~ Henry Kissinger
Natural Ability quotes by Henry Kissinger
Personally, I don't ever want to depend on makeup to feel beautiful. ~ Lupita Nyong'o
Natural Ability quotes by Lupita Nyong'o
If your vocation be shoeing horses, or painting pictures, and you can do one or the other better than your fellows, then you are a fool if you are not proud of your ability. And so I am very proud that upon two planets no greater fighter has ever lived than John Carter, Prince of Helium. ~ Edgar Rice Burroughs
Natural Ability quotes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Our public lands contain a wealth of natural resources - trees, oil, gas, coal, gold, silver, copper, iron, zinc, and many other minerals, onshore and off. We own these lands. Yet under current law the corporations control their extraction and pay very little to Uncle Sam for what revenues and profits they reap. Sometimes, in fact, they pay just about nothing. ~ Ralph Nader
Natural Ability quotes by Ralph Nader
Ability means all of us finding our strengths and putting them to full use. ~ Kathleen Wynne
Natural Ability quotes by Kathleen Wynne
From those women I also learned that a terminal illness is less distressful when it is attributed to the natural cycle of life rather than to failure. The secret to coping with the pain of an uncertain loss, regardless of culture or personal beliefs, is to avoid feeling helpless. This is accomplished by working to change what we can and accepting what we cannot. ~ Pauline Boss
Natural Ability quotes by Pauline Boss
Anybody who does not know how to manage his own body, his own mind, his own emotion and his energies, if he is managing outside situations, he is only managing them by accident, not by intent the way he wants it. When you manage situations by accident, you exist as an accident. When you exist as an accident, you are a potential calamity. When you exist as a potential calamity, being anxious all the time becomes a natural part of life. ~ Jaggi Vasudev
Natural Ability quotes by Jaggi Vasudev
Virtually throughout its history, and certainly in the 20th century, California has been known as the place to go for dynamism and growth. It did not become the richest, most populous, and most productive state solely because of its weather and natural resources. So it takes a lot to turn California around from growth to contraction, from people moving into the state to a net exodus from the state, from business moving into California to businesses leaving California. It takes some doing. And the Left has done it. ~ Dennis Prager
Natural Ability quotes by Dennis Prager
Definition. How can she not see that when you are defined, you lose the ability to define yourself? ~ Neal Shusterman
Natural Ability quotes by Neal Shusterman
It's life's natural course. All will be fine; time will settle everything. ~ Christopher Paolini
Natural Ability quotes by Christopher Paolini
I think I'm very much an entrepreneur, but I know I have the ability to start a company in a lot of ways than other people who are more qualified because I have this existing brand as an actress. ~ Blake Lively
Natural Ability quotes by Blake Lively
But natural to expect that the deeds of the great messenger should be just the works of the Father done in little. If he came to reveal his Father in miniature, as it were (for in these unspeakable things we can but use figures, and the homeliest may be the holiest), to tone down his great voice, which, too loud for men to hear it aright, could but sound to them as an inarticulate thundering, into such a still small voice as might enter their human ears in welcome human speech, ~ George MacDonald
Natural Ability quotes by George MacDonald
Self-confidence is nothing more than belief in one's ability to decide and in one's decisions. ~ L. Ron Hubbard
Natural Ability quotes by L. Ron Hubbard
Bravery is the ability to endure, even unto death, all types of terrible, terrifying and painful situations and we live in a time when people do all that they can to avoid hardship and pain, never realizing that strength and courage is found in both. ~ Donna Lynn Hope
Natural Ability quotes by Donna Lynn Hope
All sentient beings developed through natural selection in such a way that pleasant sensations serve as their guide, and especially the pleasure derived from sociability and from loving our families. - Charles Darwin ~ Rick Hanson
Natural Ability quotes by Rick Hanson
Men regarded ability in speaking as a peculiar gift, needed only by the lawyer, clergyman, or statesman. Today we have come to realize that it is the indispensable weapon of those who would forge ahead in the keen competition of business. ~ Susan Cain
Natural Ability quotes by Susan Cain
Whenever God touches sin it is independence that is touched, an that awakens resentment in the human heart. Independence must be blasted clean out, there must be no such thing left, only freedom which is very different. Freedom is the ability not to insist on my rights, but to see that God gets his ~ Oswald Chambers
Natural Ability quotes by Oswald Chambers
The image in cinema is based on the ability to present as an observation one's own perception of an object ~ Andrei Tarkovsky
Natural Ability quotes by Andrei Tarkovsky
We worked on solving the problem of voice communications in a noisy military environment. We established military codes that are highly audible and invented selection tests for personnel who had a superior ability to recognize sound in a noisy background. ~ M.H. Abrams
Natural Ability quotes by M.H. Abrams
As a manager in the Ivy League, I discovered that the upper management team were seriously undermining my ability to manage my own staff. It was so bad that I eventually left. I now advise people not to work for the Ivy League. ~ Steven Magee
Natural Ability quotes by Steven Magee
In order to survive human beings need air, water, food, love, and shelter. It would make sense that we focus on the quantity and quality of each of these elements. Instead, we put social status, markets, money, and ego in front of these basic needs. As a result of our behavior, the air we breathe is polluted, the water we drink is polluted, our food is contaminated, and our ability to love is limited because we have been tricked into not loving ourselves, resulting in millions of people who are without shelter, without nourishment, and without community. ~ Joseph P. Kauffman
Natural Ability quotes by Joseph P. Kauffman
The value of friends has always been a natural thing. I prefer too many to too few. ~ Mick Fleetwood
Natural Ability quotes by Mick Fleetwood
Another thing that seems quite helpful to the creative process is having babies. It does not detract at all from one's creativity. It reminds one that there is always more where that came from and there is never any shortage of ideas or of the ability to create. The process of being pregnant and then of having the baby and getting up in the night only puts one more in touch with this fecund part of one's self. ~ Fay Weldon
Natural Ability quotes by Fay Weldon
What I'm not confident in is my ability to resist what Cash isn't even trying to hide.
He's interested in me. And not just as an employee. Maybe very little as an employee, in fact. Every time my eyes meet his, I feel like he's undressing me. And, God help me, I love it. Those sexy, velvety eyes are like a touch. I can almost feel them, like hands on my body and lips on my mouth.
Admittedly, I have a thing for bad boys, but Cash is ... I don't know. He's different. I daresay he's even more dangerous than my usual disastrous finds. ~ M. Leighton
Natural Ability quotes by M. Leighton
You have no control [over natural disaster]. That's what's scary about it. You're helpless. That feeling of helplessness is really scary. ~ R.L. Stine
Natural Ability quotes by R.L. Stine
He loved the energy of the place, though he barely ever visited without getting shoved around or having his pockets picked. The slam of the city, the assault of neon and electric light, the roiling mass of people, made up of mixed elements: sailors, tourists, cops, hookers, hustlers and dealers. He wandered through the crowds, fascinated; a skinny boy with big teeth and glasses, his ribs sticking out. At the same time he was drawn to quieter, more inward pursuits. He liked to draw, liked going to the movies on his own or wandering round the dioramas in the Natural History Museum; the dusty smell, the long unpopulated corridors. ~ Olivia Laing
Natural Ability quotes by Olivia Laing
Herein is a capital truth. It is not the natural capacity, the congenital gift, nor is it the effort, the will, the work, which in the intelligence as sway over the energy capable of making it fully efficacious. It is uniquely the desire, that is, the desire for beauty. This desire, given a certain degree of intensity and purity, is the same thing as genius. At all levels it is the same thing as attention. If this were understood, the whole conception of teaching would be quite other than it is. First, one would realize that the intelligence functions only in joy. Intelligence is perhaps even the only one of our faculties to which joy is indispensible. The absence of joy asphyxiates it. ~ Simone Weil
Natural Ability quotes by Simone Weil
I use the following scenario in my classes to illustrate the nature of the moral circle. Imagine, I ask my students, that your best friend just got a job waiting tables at a restaurant. To celebrate with her you arrange with friends to go to the restaurant to eat dinner on her first night. You ask to be seated in her section and look forward to surprising her and, later, leaving her a big tip. Soon your friend arrives at your table, sweating and stressed out. She is having a terrible night. Things are going badly and she is behind getting food and drinks out. So, I ask my students, what do you do? Easily and naturally the students respond, "We'd say, 'Don't worry about us. Take care of everyone else first.'" I point out to the students that this response is no great moral struggle. It's a simple and easy response. Like breathing. It is just natural to extend grace to a suffering friend. Why? Because she is inside our moral circle.

But imagine, I continue with the students, that you go out to eat tonight with some friends. And your server, whom you vaguely notice seems stressed out, performs poorly. You don't get good service. What do you do in that situation? Well, since this stranger is not a part of our moral circle, we get frustrated and angry. The server is a tool and she is not performing properly. She is inconveniencing us. So, we complain to the manager and refuse to tip. In the end, we fail to treat another human being with mercy and dignity. Why? Because i ~ Richard Beck
Natural Ability quotes by Richard Beck
As the world's largest economy and second-largest carbon emitter, as a country with unsurpassed ability to drive innovation and scientific breakthroughs, as the country that people around the world continue to look to in times of crisis, we've got a vital role to play. We can't stand on the sidelines. We've got a unique responsibility. ~ Barack Obama
Natural Ability quotes by Barack Obama
It's natural, as our loved ones age, to start grieving their loss even before we lose them. ~ Steven Rowley
Natural Ability quotes by Steven Rowley
testing out models, and then refining everything further, I developed a set of ideas that was transforming people's ability ~ David Rock
Natural Ability quotes by David Rock
Never underestimate the ability of political leaders to misread history on a monumental scale. The invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan have both served to hasten western decline: they have both failed to achieve their objectives and in the process demonstrated an underlying western impotence. ~ Martin Jacques
Natural Ability quotes by Martin Jacques
You might be an intelligent person, but once you let someone else filter the world for you, you have no way to critically analyze what you're hearing. At best, absolute best case scenario, if they blatantly contradict themselves, you can spot that. But if they take basic care to maintain an internal logical consistency, which they all do, you've got nothing. You've delegated the ability to make up your mind. ~ Max Barry
Natural Ability quotes by Max Barry
Maturity is the ability to live in someone else's world. ~ Oren Arnold
