I always have someone to look up to, and I think it helps me with motivating myself. ~ Shawn Johnson
Motivating quotes by Shawn Johnson
The manufactured consensus of the IPCC has had the unintended consequences of distorting the science, elevating the voices of scientists that dispute the consensus, and motivating actions by the consensus scientists and their supporters that have diminished the public's trust in the IPCC. ~ Judith Curry
Motivating quotes by Judith Curry
Money isn't a major motivating force in my life. Nor is my profession. There are other things that I care more about than being an actor. ~ Kevin Costner
Motivating quotes by Kevin Costner
I think that one of the motivating factors was in my last year of law school: we had a competition, and I won the competition; it was judged by several of the federal judges at the time. I got a tremendous amount of encouragement to pursue litigation from them at the time. ~ Robert Shapiro
Motivating quotes by Robert Shapiro
To succeed consistently, good managers need to be skilled not just in choosing, training, and motivating the right people for the right job, but in choosing, building, and preparing the right organization for the job as well. ~ Clayton M Christensen
Motivating quotes by Clayton M Christensen
The primary motivation in the world of television is fear. People are scared to death. Ambition and enthusiasm and interest and the desire to excel are secondary. Because fear is an enormous motivating force, many in the medium are afraid to make decisions, take chances, do anything innovative. ~ Sally Quinn
Motivating quotes by Sally Quinn
Not only do the majority of senior women executives have sports in their background, they recognize that the behaviors and techniques learned through sports are critical to motivating teams and improving performance in a corporate environment. ~ Beth Brooke
Motivating quotes by Beth Brooke
I detest guilt as a motivating factor for anything, and as for the promises made between lovers, well, they are a blueprint for calamity, a writ of divorce rendered point by point. ~ Evan Fallenberg
Motivating quotes by Evan Fallenberg
Everything that is past is either a learning experience to grow on, a beautiful memory to reflect on, or a motivating factor to act upon. ~ Denis Waitley
Motivating quotes by Denis Waitley
I tell young people all the time because they think I'm an overnight success I've been doing this for over 20 years! And that means inspiring and motivating people. ~ Eric Thomas
Motivating quotes by Eric Thomas
Each of us has a mountain to climb. To reach the summit you need to understand who you are and what you can do. Without an idea of your strengths and weaknesses you cannot define your personal limits. Survival training helps you figure that bit out. It makes you stronger, more fearless and ultimatley resilient! There is no easy or pain free way to the summit – you just have to endure and climb to it by yourself. ~ Rich Hungerford
Motivating quotes by Rich Hungerford
I know Elon, we're very like minded in many ways. We're not conceptual twins. One thing I want us to do is go to Mars, but for me it's one thing. He's singularly focused on that. I think motivation wise, for me I don't find that Plan B idea motivating. I don't want a plan B for Earth, I want Plan B to make sure Plan A works. ~ Jeff Bezos
Motivating quotes by Jeff Bezos
If you have WANNA, you can do ANYTHING!! - The Caterpillar That Wouldn't Change ~ Nancy S. Mure
Motivating quotes by Nancy S. Mure
The soldier doesn't usually act on his own initiative, he doesn't harbour feelings of hatred or resentment or jealousy, he isn't motivated by long-held desires or personal ambition; the only motivating force is a vague, rhetorical, empty patriotism, for those soldiers, that is, who are moved by such feelings or allow themselves to be convinced. ~ Javier Marias
Motivating quotes by Javier Marias
Find what makes you happy and go for it with all your heart. It will be hard, but I promise it will be worth it. ~ Charlotte Eriksson
Motivating quotes by Charlotte Eriksson
what makes the great motivators so, well, motivating is their ability to help others find their own personal motivation every day. It is that personal motivation that inspires people to have a vision of what they want to achieve, work hard and prepare well so they have not only a clear direction in sight, but also the actual wherewithal to get where they want to go. ~ Jim Taylor
Motivating quotes by Jim Taylor
The thought of my mortality - I think about it a lot. I find it motivating. It can be any time that your number's up. ~ Sara Blakely
Motivating quotes by Sara Blakely
Motivating people is more than having the right incentives, the right programs and the right benefit packages. It's about tapping into the unique passions, personalities and strengths of those entrusted to our care. ~ Steve Knox
Motivating quotes by Steve Knox
I like understanding what's underneath, what's really motivating people. When I was younger, I wanted to be a psychiatrist, so I think it has to do with that. ~ Michelle Pfeiffer
Motivating quotes by Michelle Pfeiffer
One of the things we know is that you cannot motivate other people, but you can remove the obstacles that stop them from motivating themselves. All motivation is self-motivation. ~ Brian Tracy
Motivating quotes by Brian Tracy
The anticipation is an essential part of this whole trip. The excitement of going, the places we'll see, the people we'll meet, that's part of the joy of this whole thing ... Never forget that anticipation is an important part of life ... without excitement you have nothing, you're cheating yourself if you refuse to enjoy what's coming. ~ Micah Sparks
Motivating quotes by Micah Sparks
The news filled me with such euphoria that for an instant I was numb. My ingrained self-censorship immediately started working: I registered the fact that there was an orgy of weeping going on around me, and that I had to come up with some suitable performance. There seemed nowhere to hide my lack of correct emotion except the shoulder of the woman in front of me, one of the student officials, who was apparently heartbroken. I swiftly buried my head in her shoulder and heaved appropriately. As so often in China, a bit of ritual did the trick. Sniveling heartily she made a movement as though she was going to turn around and embrace me I pressed my whole weight on her from behind to keep her in her place, hoping to give the impression that I was in a state of abandoned grief.

In the days after Mao's death, I did a lot of thinking. I knew he was considered a philosopher, and I tried to think what his 'philosophy' really was. It seemed to me that its central principle was the need or the desire? for perpetual conflict. The core of his thinking seemed to be that human struggles were the motivating force of history and that in order to make history 'class enemies' had to be continuously created en masse. I wondered whether there were any other philosophers whose theories had led to the suffering and death of so many. I thought of the terror and misery to which the Chinese population had been subjected. For what?

But Mao's theory might just be the extension o ~ Jung Chang
Motivating quotes by Jung Chang
The key questions answered by tipping point leaders are as follows: What factors or acts exercise a disproportionately positive influence on breaking the status quo? On getting the maximum bang out of each buck of resources? On motivating key players to aggressively move forward with change? And on knocking down political roadblocks that often trip up even the best strategies? By single-mindedly focusing on points of disproportionate influence, tipping point leaders can topple the four hurdles that limit execution of blue ocean strategy. They can do this fast and at low cost. Let ~ W.Chan Kim
Motivating quotes by W.Chan Kim
Read the editorial page of your local paper. It introduces you to opinion and can be terrifically provocative and perhaps a great motivating force for you to get involved in your community, regardless of your political ideology. ~ Sarah Jessica Parker
Motivating quotes by Sarah Jessica Parker
Continued reliance on preemption analysis suppresses judicial attention to the discrimination and equality concerns that should be motivating courts' consideration of subfederal immigration regulations. ~ Pratheepan Gulasekaram
Motivating quotes by Pratheepan Gulasekaram
Man's greatest motivating force is his desire to please woman! The hunter who excelled during prehistoric days, before the dawn of civilization, did so, because of his desire to appear great in the eyes of woman. Man's nature has not changed in this respect. The "hunter" of today brings home no skins of wild animals, but he indicates his desire for her favor by supplying fine clothes, motor cars, and wealth. Man has the same desire to please woman that he had before the dawn of civilization. The only thing that has changed, is his method of pleasing. Men who accumulate large fortunes, and attain to great heights of power and fame, do so, mainly, to satisfy their desire to please women. ~ Napoleon Hill
Motivating quotes by Napoleon Hill
Motivating yourself, I think having big strong legs, that's pretty cool. Having a big VMOs [the teardrop-shaped muscle above your knee] is always nice. But, the thing is, when you see guys who are clearly gym junkies who only do bicep curls all day every day, and you see them walking down the street ... 'Mate, what about the legs?'. ~ Greg Rutherford
Motivating quotes by Greg Rutherford
I was playing Rasputin and what was motivating him was crumpet really, and I was extremely keen on crumpet so I was really rather good as Rasputin. And my next catastrophic failure was Macbeth, who I played in the style of a crumpet-lover, and then when Doctor Who came along, I embraced this lunacy, this cloud-cuckoo-land where people had to be convinced by absolute nonsense. I came from a very religious background, so it was easy for me to believe in something I knew nothing about. ~ Tom Baker
Motivating quotes by Tom Baker
Don't let fear of failure prevent you from making effective choices and firm decisions. ~ Roopleen
Motivating quotes by Roopleen
It is the satisfaction of doing it for yourself and motivating others to work with you in bringing it about. It is about the fun, innovation, creativity with the rewards being far greater than purely financial. ~ Richard Branson
Motivating quotes by Richard Branson
[Evolution Theory] is the motivating factor for guys like Hitler and Stalin and George Bush, by the way, who is a Satan worshipper, like we don't know that. ~ Kent Hovind
Motivating quotes by Kent Hovind
For me, my core genius lies in the area of teaching and motivating. I love to do it, I do it well, and people report that they get great value from it. Another core genius is compiling and writing books. Along with my co-author Mark Victor Hansen and others, I have written, co-authored, compiled and edited more than 200 books. ~ Jack Canfield
Motivating quotes by Jack Canfield
There's no day when I don't think it would be great to be 25 years old and have the Olympics coming in less than 300 days - and be the best in the world. I can't think of anything so motivating. ~ Daley Thompson
Motivating quotes by Daley Thompson
Putting my potential to test, motivating myself yet again; challenging my will because I wish to be proved right to myself more importantly.. than proving others wrong.
Self appreciation is the key, as they say. ~ Somya Kedia
Motivating quotes by Somya Kedia
Normativity, I believe, is very different from motivating force. Neither includes, or implies, the other. Other animals can be motivated by their desires and beliefs. Only we can understand and respond to reasons. ~ Derek Parfit
Motivating quotes by Derek Parfit
We cannot have faith without belief, but we can believe without having faith. Belief is the foundation of faith. Faith is trusting in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The scriptures contain many assurances of salvation to those who exercise faith and obey the commandments ... Faith is the motivating force that impels action. ~ O. Leslie Stone
Motivating quotes by O. Leslie Stone
Bruce Wayne's childhood experience of losing his parents during a random back-alley mugging remains the primary origin story for the Batman character, but other than irrationally (or, more accurately: insanely) motivating his desire to fight crime, the trauma seems to have had little discernable effect on his character. ~ Dan Hassler-Forest
Motivating quotes by Dan Hassler-Forest
The competitive instinct is what I think drives organizations and people to become better and better. It can promote change toward progress and development, which is good for everybody. It can be the motivating force behind improvement in our social well-being that is far beyond anything we might have imagined on our own. ~ Lee R. Raymond
Motivating quotes by Lee R. Raymond
But I couldn't quite believe that sex was the motivating force behind all human behavior, and that I was left out of the great cultural conversation because I had not been initiated into the mystery. ~ Carlene Bauer
Motivating quotes by Carlene Bauer
I am strong-willed, and I am driven, and I am passionate ... but I don't have ... a central cause ... a motivating cause, I don't know what that would be ... other than trying to tell the truth when I work. ~ Jennifer Beals
Motivating quotes by Jennifer Beals
You are a message to the world make sure it is motivating. ~ Nadair Desmar
Motivating quotes by Nadair Desmar
It is worth recalling here that the injudicious use of rewards and praise can be pressure tactics no less than verbal or physical coercion. As we have seen, there are three dangers with motivating by means of reward and praise. First, they feed the anxiety that not the person but the desired achievement is what is valued by the parent. They directly reinforce the insecurity of the ADD child. Second, since children can sense the parents' will pushing them, even if under benign disguises such as gifts or warm words, counterwill will be strengthened. Third, praise and reward will themselves become the goal, at the expense of the child's interest in the actual process of what he is doing. Children thus motivated will sooner or later learn to get by with the least amount of effort necessary to earn the praise or the reward. Short cuts and cheating often follow. Accepting ~ Gabor Mate
Motivating quotes by Gabor Mate
Little Voice is a story where every reader, young or old, can feel inspired by its positive, inspiring and motivating message. ~ Amanda Bernardo
Motivating quotes by Amanda Bernardo
Because here's something that's weird but true: we don't actually know what a positive or negative experience is. Some of the most difficult and stressful moments of our lives also end up being the most formative and motivating. Some of the best and most gratifying experiences of our lives are also the most distracting and demotivating. Don't trust your conception of positive/negative experiences. All that we know for certain is what hurts in the moment and what doesn't. And that's not worth much. Just ~ Mark Manson
Motivating quotes by Mark Manson
I think empathy can serve as a moral spark, motivating us to do good things. But anything can be a moral spark. ~ Paul Bloom
Motivating quotes by Paul Bloom
No one can go back and change the bad begnning but you can start anything and create a successful ending... ~ Aishwarya Singh
Motivating quotes by Aishwarya Singh
Poverty was the greatest motivating factor in my life. ~ Jimmy Dean
Motivating quotes by Jimmy Dean
There is nothing that deceives us more than our own judgment when used to give an opinion on our own works. It is sound in judging the work of our enemies but not that of our friends, for hate and love are two of the most powerfully motivating factors found among living things. ~ Leonardo Da Vinci
Motivating quotes by Leonardo Da Vinci
The experience of pain or loss can be a formidably motivating force. ~ John C. Maxwell
Motivating quotes by John C. Maxwell
Failure can be an incredibly motivating force. ~ Jacqueline Novogratz
Motivating quotes by Jacqueline Novogratz
Pastors can lead the way in motivating the faithful to wise stewardship of their citizenship responsibilities. Without a healthy culture and civil society, limited government and ordered liberty will be impossible. ~ Edwin Meese
Motivating quotes by Edwin Meese
Whether it's soundtracking a moment in my life or just motivating me to hit the gym, I constantly have music playing. Even if it's just in my head. ~ Reid Scott
Motivating quotes by Reid Scott
Actors use who they are to be someone else, but I would hate to ever think I'm playing myself. It's imagining being someone else that is the key motivating thing for me. So when people want to know about me, it makes me a bit unnerved. ~ Ralph Fiennes
Motivating quotes by Ralph Fiennes
There is a dark side to religious devotion that is too often ignored or denied. As a means of motivating people to be cruel or inhumane, there may be no more potent force than religion. When the subject of religiously inspired bloodshed comes up, many Americans immediately think of Islamic fundamentalism, which is to be expected in the wake of 911. But men have been committing heinous acts in the name of God ever since mankind began believing in deities, and extremists exist within all religions. Muhammad is not the only prophet whose words have been used to sanction barbarism; history has not lacked for Christians, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, and even Buddhists who have been motivated by scripture to butcher innocents. Plenty of these religious extremist have been homegrown, corn-fed Americans. ~ Jon Krakauer
Motivating quotes by Jon Krakauer
Unconscious motivating forces play a central role in shaping our behavior, but they are also the primary cause of mental illness. ~ Christian Jarrett
Motivating quotes by Christian Jarrett
There is no returning to the masses - once your forays into theory have borne you far enough away from them that you can perceive them and the benefits of being among them. the only return is through the process of disillusionment; one must cease to care about motivating the masses to be reunited with them. Likewise, there is no converting them - no matter how many people you come to join you at your outpost, from up close they will never look as impressive as the distant crowd. ~ CrimethInc.
Motivating quotes by CrimethInc.
A button machine makes buttons, no matter what the power used, foot, steam or electricity. They, no matter what the motivating force, death, love or God, made jokes. ~ Nathanael West
Motivating quotes by Nathanael West
It's really the creature of my own making from top to bottom. I appreciate that. And the good fortune, the perseverance, having the stamina to stick around longer than everyone else even after people write you off - that's always been a good motivating force in my life. ~ Ariel Pink
Motivating quotes by Ariel Pink
There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life. ~ John Lennon
Motivating quotes by John Lennon
The legendary inscription above the Academy's door speaks loudly about Plato's attitude toward mathematics. In fact, most of the significant mathematical research of the fourth century BC was carried out by people associated in one way or another with the Academy. Yet Plato himself was not a mathematician of great technical dexterity, and his direct contributions to mathematical knowledge were probably minimal. Rather, he was an enthusiastic spectator, a motivating source of challenge, an intelligent critic, an an inspiring guide. The first century philosopher and historian Philodemus paints a clear picture: "At that time great progress was seen in mathematics, with Plato serving as the general architect setting out problems, and the mathematicians investigating them earnestly." To which the Neoplatonic philosopher and mathematician Proclus adds: "Plato...greatly advanced mathematics in general and geometry in particular because of his zeal for these studies. It is well known that his writings are thickly sprinkled with mathematical terms and that he everywhere tries to arouse admiration for mathematics among students of philosophy." In other words, Plato, whose mathematical knowledge was broadly up to date, could converse with the mathematicians as an equal and as a problem presenter, even though his personal mathematical achievements were not significant. ~ Mario Livio
Motivating quotes by Mario Livio
Madonna remains the most visible performer on the planet, as well as one of the wealthiest, but would anyone seriously say that artistic self-development is her primary motivating principle? She is too busy with Kabbalah, fashion merchandising, adoption melodramas, the gym, and ill-starred horseback riding to study art. ~ Camille Paglia
Motivating quotes by Camille Paglia
Love is one of the most motivating and self-defining forces in our lives, whether we turn from it or allow ourselves to be drawn to it. If you allow romantic possibilities with others to consume all your time and energy, they will distract you from the things of interest that fill your life with passion and purpose. ~ A.J. Darkholme
Motivating quotes by A.J. Darkholme
I met with a group of a hundred or so fifth graders from a poor neighborhood at a school in Houston, Texas. Most of them were on a track that would never get them to college. So I decided then and there to make a contract with them. I would pay for their four-year college education if they kept a B average and stayed out of trouble. I made it clear that with focus, anyone could be above average, and I would provide mentoring support to them. I had a couple of key criteria: They had to stay out of jail. They couldn't get pregnant before graduating high school. Most importantly, they needed to contribute 20 hours of service per year to some organization in their community. Why did I add this? College is wonderful, but what was even more important to me was to teach them they had something to give, not just something to get in life. I had no idea how I was going to pay for it in the long run, but I was completely committed, and I signed a legally binding contract requiring me to deliver the funds. It's funny how motivating it can be when you have no choice but to move forward. I always say, if you want to take the island, you have to burn your boats! So I signed those contracts. Twenty-three of those kids worked with me from the fifth grade all the way to college. Several went on to graduate school, including law school! I call them my champions. Today they are social workers, business owners, and parents. Just a few years ago, we had a reunion, and I got to hear the magnificent ~ Tony Robbins
Motivating quotes by Tony Robbins
The basic principle of health, well-being, and the action of healing is the presumption of prior perfection rather than the motivating problem. We must be established in the presumption that Truth is always already the case, and therefore, the perfect form of any condition is already, priorly, and presently true of it. It is not that "I" am a problem or disease to be cured (or a hopeless sinner to be saved). Rather, "I" am already and priorly one with the Perfect Condition and the perfect Form of all conditions that presently pertain, and "I" am simply operating in order to manifest it (or allow it to manifest itself) in the play of experience. ~ Adi Da Samraj
Motivating quotes by Adi Da Samraj
Love is the motivating principle by which the Lord leads us along the way towards becoming like Him, our perfect example. Our way of life, hour by hour, must be filled with the love of God and love for others. ~ Henry B. Eyring
Motivating quotes by Henry B. Eyring
The good words we speak are powerful, motivating and inspiring, they can travel to places we can't go, to solve problems, resolve conflicts, comfort and liberate in times of pain, sorrow and trouble. ~ Bamigboye Olurotimi
Motivating quotes by Bamigboye Olurotimi
You know, at 35 or at 38 or 40 you really start to see what your body could look like if you just don't do anything all winter long. So that's another motivating factor, our vanity. ~ Stone Gossard
Motivating quotes by Stone Gossard
Theology recognizes the contingency of human existence only to derive it from a necessary being, that is, to remove it. Theology makes use of philosophical wonder only for the purpose of motivating an affirmation which ends it. Philosophy, on the other hand, arouses us to what is problematic in our own existence and in that of the world, to such a point that we shall never be cured of searching for a solution. ~ Maurice Merleau Ponty
Motivating quotes by Maurice Merleau Ponty
Managers' responsibility is to ensure that people deliver the expected results, which are the company's strategy. The company's strategy, in turn, determines its competitive advantage. So, if a manager does a poor job of motivating employees' productivity, the enterprise is a weak competitor. ~ Anna Stevens
Motivating quotes by Anna Stevens
I'm often called in as a coach and speaker to motivate staff, teams, the public and leaders. The key to this is simple; you cannot truly, deeply and sustainably motivate anybody until you know what their motives are...what motivates them...? ~ Rasheed Ogunlaru
Motivating quotes by Rasheed Ogunlaru
While good strategy content is based on a compelling value proposition for buyers with a robust profit proposition for the organization, sustainable strategy execution is based largely on a motivating-people proposition. ~ W. Chan Kim
Motivating quotes by W. Chan Kim
The shape does not change. There was a human being who was born, lived, and then, by some means or another, died. There. you may fill in the details from your own experience. As unoriginal as any other tale, as unique as any other life. Lives are like snowflakes - forming patterns we have seen before, ( ... ) but still unique. ~ Neil Gaiman
Motivating quotes by Neil Gaiman
I know, a lot of the films I've done, it's obvious I'm going to beat up six guys and just walk out the door. There's not a lot of motivating factors - it's just action for the sake of action. ~ Jason Statham
Motivating quotes by Jason Statham
The project manager accomplishes this goal through planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve goals. ~ D. Williams
Motivating quotes by D. Williams
The leader should reserve to himself the hiring, compensating, motivating, molding, assessing and firing of his chief lieutenants. ~ Steven B. Sample
Motivating quotes by Steven B. Sample
As it is for a person, so it is for a company: having a sense of purpose is invigorating and motivating. ~ Jon Miller
Motivating quotes by Jon Miller
As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, it's fine with me and I hope it would be fine with you if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al Qaeda is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day. ~ John McCain
Motivating quotes by John McCain
To talk of the size of a thought is odd, perhaps, but to say that someone is thinking big thoughts is not without meaning. "I want you all to come to my birthday party" is a bigger thought than "I want only some of you to come." Bodhicitta is theoretically the biggest thought anyone can think because of the number of beings involved, what it wants them to have, and the length of time it must last before its motivating power dies out. Since the duration of a thought is a variable of the aim, in the sense that the actions motivated by a thought cease when the aim is attained, one can conceive of thoughts that last longer and longer. Bodhicitta necessarily lasts until the last living being reaches the state free of suffering, because it is only then that the aim is finally achieved. This explains the prayer of Samantabhadra at the end of the Gandavyūha section of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra, which the Dalai Lama often invokes: "For as long as space endures may I remain to work for the benefit of living beings. ~ Gareth Sparham
Motivating quotes by Gareth Sparham
You discover or re-discover yourself only through travel, and unplanned travel is the most exhilarating experience. I truly believe that not all those who wander are lost. But for the ones who are lost, wandering is the only way to find themselves. ~ Vishwas Mudagal
Motivating quotes by Vishwas Mudagal
Guilt is the major motivating force in my life. ~ Linda Barnes
Motivating quotes by Linda Barnes
The best motivating factor of all, however, is divine intervention, or what I like to call The Magic of Grace. ~ Cheryl Richardson
Motivating quotes by Cheryl Richardson
Your thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions drive everything in your life and career.
People who operate on a high level of creativity and mastery are rigorous about mental awareness and preparation. Top athletes, fighters, artists, writers, businesspeople, and scientists use different methods to stay clear, focused, motivated, and productive.
Not only are precise and motivating thoughts critical to maintaining momentum toward big goals, but the ability to look at things from new and critical perspectives is a fundamental skill in creating a diverse, interesting, and integrated body of work. ~ Pamela Slim
Motivating quotes by Pamela Slim
I beg. I call. I badger. I cajole. Part of the secret is everyone has fun and that's really motivating. ~ Katie Couric
Motivating quotes by Katie Couric
My passion is about motivating as many families as possible to learn about vegetables and healthy eating together. ~ Jennie Garth
Motivating quotes by Jennie Garth
If compassion was the motivating factor behind all of our decisions, would our world not be a completely different place? ~ Sheryl Crow
Motivating quotes by Sheryl Crow
The true writer, the born writer, will scribble words on scraps of litter, the back of a bus tickets, on the wall of a cell. ~ David Nicholls
Motivating quotes by David Nicholls
Embracing a different vocabulary, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has described a highly sought-after affective state called the flow state or flow experience. In such intrinsically motivating experiences, which can occur in any domain of activity, people report themselves as fully engaged with and absorbed by the object of their attention. In one sense, those "in flow" are not conscious of the experience at the moment; on reflection, however, such people feel that they have been fully alive, totally realized, and involved in a "peak experience." Individuals who regularly engage in creative activities often report that they seek such states; the prospect of such "periods of flow" can be so intense that individuals will exert considerable practice and effort, and even tolerate physical or psychological pain, in pursuit thereof. Committed writers may claim that they hate the time spent chained to their desks, but the thought that they would not have the opportunity to attain occasional periods of flow while writing proves devastating. ~ Howard Gardner
Motivating quotes by Howard Gardner
Although traditional incentives such as bonuses or recognition can prod people to better performance, no external motivators can get people to perform at their absolute best ... Wherever people gravitate within their work roles, indicates where their real pleasure lies - and that pleasure is itself motivating. ~ Daniel Goleman
Motivating quotes by Daniel Goleman
Decisive inventions and discoveries always are initiated by an intellectual or moral stimulus as their actual motivating force, but, usually, the final impetus to human action is given by material impulses ... merchants stood as a driving force behind the heroes of the age of discovery; this first heroic impulse to conquer the world emanated from very mortal forces ~ Stefan Zweig
Motivating quotes by Stefan Zweig
After years of loss and reflection, your old deluded decisions click together like the works of a watch packed tight within its case--many tiny, turning, interlocking wheels....the force of every decision transferring gear to gear, wheel to wheel, each one motivating a larger energy going in no direction but steep downward to darkness at an increasing pitch. And then one morning the world resembles Noah's flood, stretching unrecognizable to the horizon and you wonder how you go there. One thing for sure, it wasn't from a bad throw of dice or runes or an unfavorable turn of cards. Blame falls hard and can't be dodged by the guilty. ~ Charles Frazier
Motivating quotes by Charles Frazier
Management is the process of assuring that the program and objectives of the organization are implemented. Leadership on the other hand has to do with casting vision and motivating people. ~ John C. Maxwell
Motivating quotes by John C. Maxwell
Being able to speak to all my fans is really cool - you always hear people cheering for you on the court, but to have messages of support in between tournaments is really motivating. ~ Dominika Cibulkova
Motivating quotes by Dominika Cibulkova
The perfect knowledge of events cannot be acquired without divine inspiration, since all prophetic inspiration receives its prime motivating force from God the creator, then from good fortune and nature. ~ Nostradamus
Motivating quotes by Nostradamus
Spending a few moments right when you wake up to inspire and motivate yourself can make all the difference in the rest of your day. ~ Daniel Willey
Motivating quotes by Daniel Willey
the voice taunted, and threatened:
"you are afraid, unhappy, dissatisfied, what if…."
but I knew, this was not His language for motivating my heart,
so I waited quietly to hear my Father's native tongue,
"I love, I am satisfied, I trust, this is the way..." - and I moved. ~ Kate Mullane Robertson
Motivating quotes by Kate Mullane Robertson
...it's fear and fear alone that binds a man from living. ~ Micheline Ryckman
Motivating quotes by Micheline Ryckman
Leadership is all about people. It is not about organizations. It is not about plans. It is not about strategies. It is all about people-motivating people to get the job done. You have to be people-centered. ~ Colin Powell
Motivating quotes by Colin Powell
One of the greatest motivating things that a coach has is the bench. They all love to play, all of them. You sit them on the bench, and they come around pretty good. ~ John Wooden
Motivating quotes by John Wooden
To be effective, morality has to be reasoned (or worked out). To want ("vouloir", Fr.) to repress evil only by coercion, and to obtain morality by a sort of training with the help of constraint, without motivating it from within, is to make it an unnatural result, devoided of lastind value. ~ African Spir
Motivating quotes by African Spir
