Nobody seriously questions the principle that it is the function of mass culture to maintain public morale, and certainly nobody in the mass audience objects to having his morale maintained. ~ Robert Warshow
Morale quotes by Robert Warshow
Flogging will continue until morale improves. ~ Julie Klassen
Morale quotes by Julie Klassen
They had bombed London, whether on purpose or not, and the British people and London especially should know that we could hit back. It would be good for the morale of us all. ~ Winston Churchill
Morale quotes by Winston Churchill
At the very least, I hope it means I will get my Briony back again. I know, I'll hold a party for her--and take her on a pony ride--I think that will be quite in order, if I can be spared from my official duties for the afternoon."

"You're the King," Taris reminded him with a smile.

"But you're my conscience, Taris, you know that."

"Then your conscience says we should keep his highness's current location secret, but an announcement of his escape is most desirable. Therefore, a party is quite in order--if not essential--for the morale of the nation."

"Excellent. I really should promote you, old friend. Only trouble is, there's nowhere to go but down from your office."

"I am well aware of that, Your Majesty. ~ Julia Golding
Morale quotes by Julia Golding
You can tell a person's morale from their Twitter feed. I like that; it's so honest. And I like being able to follow people who I respect and admire, and the possibility of them seeing my comment about them. ~ Jessie Cave
Morale quotes by Jessie Cave
I am fascinated to hear of the impact that ESOPs have had on work-force morale in corporations of all sizes such as Sears Roebuck, Potomac Electric Power, Lowe's Companies and the Dow Chemical Company. ~ Robert S. Strauss
Morale quotes by Robert S. Strauss
Fortunately or unfortunately, the one predictable thing in any organization is the crisis. That always comes. That's when you do depend on the leader: The job of the leader is to build an organization that is battle-ready, that has high morale, that knows how to behave, that trusts itself, and where people trust one another. ~ Peter Drucker
Morale quotes by Peter Drucker
As a child that was disenfranchised from everything, and that was in a world that was the wrong size, run by the wrong people, the wrong morale and the wrong rules, I felt completely outside of that, and I wanted some measure of control, and the measure of control I found was through fear. ~ Guillermo Del Toro
Morale quotes by Guillermo Del Toro
Soldiers are required to close with the enemy, possibly in

the midst of innocent bystanders, and fight; and to continue operating in the face of mortal danger. This is a group activity, at all scales of effort and intensities. Soldiers are part of a team, and the effectiveness of that team depends on each individual playing his or her part to the full. Success depends above all else on good morale, which is the spirit that enables soldiers to triumph over adversity: morale linked to, and reinforced by, discipline. ~ Richard Dannatt
Morale quotes by Richard Dannatt
Chronic indecision is not only inefficient and counterproductive, but it is deeply corrosive to morale. ~ Robert Iger
Morale quotes by Robert Iger
The DSS offices are not given enough funding, their staff are poorly paid and are driven to distraction by the amount of work they have to do. There is frequent turnover of staff. Morale is extremely low. Working with desperate people all day is very dispiriting; their unhappiness rubs off on you. ~ Sue Townsend
Morale quotes by Sue Townsend
A sales group with high morale and strong team spirit is a powerful unit, and team mentality is the cornerstone of success for any sales organization. ~ John R. Treace
Morale quotes by John R. Treace
Morale and attitude are the fundamentals to success. ~ Bud Wilkinson
Morale quotes by Bud Wilkinson
If you really want to kill morale, have layoffs every two months for the next two years. ~ Tom Peters
Morale quotes by Tom Peters
Most blitz leaders have felt that by sacrificing a degree of intelligence or logistics support they gained a greater advantage in the areas of surprise or massing of effort at a critical point. No commander attacks unless he feels that he can win, though on occasion defeat locally may help to gain victory elsewhere. But the decision to attack means that the factors have all been weighed and that superiority lies in better morale, better control for the massing of effort or for quicker reaction, or better weapons. Control is often a more than adequate substitute for supply. There may be risk, but there is no rashness, where advantages outweigh disadvantages. ~ Wesley W. Yale
Morale quotes by Wesley W. Yale
The heavy casualties, the constant retreat, the shortage of food and munitions, the difficulty of receiving reinforcements ... all this had a very bad effect on morale. Many longed to get across the Volga, to escape the hell of Stalingrad. ~ Vasily Chuikov
Morale quotes by Vasily Chuikov
The quality & morale of teachers is absolutely central to the well being of students and their learning. ~ Andy Hargreaves
Morale quotes by Andy Hargreaves
The punch line is 'knock the morale of an employee and organizational productivity is punctured'. ~ Henrietta Newton Martin
Morale quotes by Henrietta Newton Martin
I've heard one or two riders refer to the odd night out as 'morale training'. It's a good expression for it. It's got the word 'training' in it, so it's got to be a good idea. ~ Michael Hutchinson
Morale quotes by Michael Hutchinson
Its Seventh Commandment, italicized by the authors, stated: Battles are beyond everything else struggles of morale. Defeat is inevitable as soon as the hope of conquering ceases to exist. Success comes not to him who has suffered the least but to him whose will is firmest and morale strongest. ~ Barbara W. Tuchman
Morale quotes by Barbara W. Tuchman
There is no seamen in the world who prefers a slow ship to a fast one. The painters painted better, the cooks took a little more time with the meals, and the technicians tightened the bolts just a little more. Their ship was no longer a cripple, and pride broke out in the crew like a rainbow after a summer shower. ~ Tom Clancy
Morale quotes by Tom Clancy
Stoop, then, or you will be beaten to your knees. Stoop voluntarily, and you may save a remnant. You have depended on metal and power and they have sustained you as far as they could. You have ignored mind and morale and they have failed you. ~ Isaac Asimov
Morale quotes by Isaac Asimov
Modernizing the postal service was particularly important for the soldiers, who relied on letters, newspapers, and magazines from home to sustain morale. ~ Doris Kearns Goodwin
Morale quotes by Doris Kearns Goodwin
You see, the Foreign Service of the United States has grown so unbelievably in the last twenty years, and the requirements for admission are so high, and yet an awful lot of the work, I'd say fully 50-percent of the work in the Foreign Service abroad, is really routine work. All this is something that no one has licked ... You get a certain amount of discontent. It's bad for morale. ~ Charles E. Bohlen
Morale quotes by Charles E. Bohlen
My heart goes out to a missionary who does not receive regular mail from home. Generally, a letter once a week is a good rule. But on the other hand, too much mail can be damaging to a missionary's morale. ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
Morale quotes by Gordon B. Hinckley
[On the camel:] Its weak point is its morale, and it is here that so much depends on its human master. Discouragement is fatal ... it loses heart, sinks by the wayside and dies. ~ Mildred Cable
Morale quotes by Mildred Cable
Morale is good; troops are confident; leaders are capable. ~ John Abizaid
Morale quotes by John Abizaid
Watching something grow is good for morale. It helps us believe in life. ~ Myron Kaufmann
Morale quotes by Myron Kaufmann
Emergency food has become very useful indeed, and to a very large assortment of people and institutions. The United States Department of Agriculture uses it to reduce the accumulation of embarrassing agricultural surpluses. Business uses it to dispose of nonstandard or unwanted product, to protect employee morale and avoid dump fees, and, of course, to accrue tax savings. Celebrities use it for exposure. Universities and hospitals, as well as caterers and restaurants, use it to absorb leftovers. Private schools use it to teach ethics, and public schools use it to instill a sense of civic responsibility. Churches use it to express their concern for the least of their brethren, and synagogues use it to be faithful to the tradition of including the poor at the table. Courts use it to avoid incarcerating people arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and a host of other offense. Environmentalists use it to reduce the solid waste stream. Penal institutions use it to create constructive outlets for the energies of their inmates, and youth-serving agencies of all sorts use it to provide service opportunities for young people. Both profit-making and nonprofit organizations use it to absorb unneeded kitchen and office equipment. A wide array of groups, organizations, and institutions benefits from the halo effect of 'feeding the hungry,' and this list does not even include the many functions for ordinary individuals--companionship, exercise, meaning, and purpose. . .If we didn't have h ~ Janet Poppendieck
Morale quotes by Janet Poppendieck
Take a nation, tell the people there is no God, tell them there is nothing beyond the grave, and they will lose heart, lose their morale. They will become such a shiftless, lazy, apathetic, lethargic people that you won't be able to get half of them to work. Many will not be motivated by anything. ~ Shelton Smith
Morale quotes by Shelton Smith
I think fire is so critical in the wild. You can cook with it, you can make tools, you can deter a predator, you can dry your clothes and you get that element of morale that matters so much when you're stuck in the middle of nowhere. ~ Bear Grylls
Morale quotes by Bear Grylls
I changed the city of New York. I gave people back their morale. ~ Ed Koch
Morale quotes by Ed Koch
Nothing is more deflating to morale than to have a poor outcome pinned on someone who doesn't deserve it. It lacks integrity and overvalues the outcome at the expense of the people as well as the process. ~ Tony Dungy
Morale quotes by Tony Dungy
Morale is at the lowest point since I've been here. ~ David Davis
Morale quotes by David Davis
Individual talent is an obstruction principally among teams that employ the facade of a synergy to diminish the majorities mediocrity. ~ Anthony Corlisatra
Morale quotes by Anthony Corlisatra
Did you have fun with morale when you were in charge?" Wrath muttered to Xcor.
"All the time. The stronger the warrior - "
"The harder the head."
" - the harder the head."
As they finished the sentence with the same words, and in an identically exhausted tone, she was surprised. And yet they had faced the same issues, hadn't they, both leaders of groups of males that were highly charged in the best of situations … and downright dangerous in bad ones. ~ J.R. Ward
Morale quotes by J.R. Ward
I have worked with a lot of different great people. One of the things my partner, my manager Judy Weinstein, instilled in [David] Morales and myself is that the quality goes in before the name goes home. ~ Frankie Knuckles
Morale quotes by Frankie Knuckles
A military coup needs a sacrifice and courage that you can't find in an army without morale. ~ Jalal Talabani
Morale quotes by Jalal Talabani
Morale - the will to win, the fighting heart - are the honored hallmarks of the football coach and player. Likewise, they are characteristic of the enterprising executive, the successful troop leader, the established artist and the dedicated teacher and scientist. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
Morale quotes by Dwight D. Eisenhower
We must be strong at home if we are going to be strong abroad. We understand that. So we want to be strong at home in our morale or in our spirit, we want to be strong intellectually, in our education, in our economy and, where necessary, militarily. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
Morale quotes by Dwight D. Eisenhower
The Jew is contrary to our being ... He desecrated our people, spit on our ideals, paralyzed the strength of the nation, made our customs rotten, and polluted the morale. ~ Joseph Goebbels
Morale quotes by Joseph Goebbels
A coach has to worry not so much about creating motivation, esprit de corps, as about destroying it. The true competitor has it; he wouldn't be a star if he didn't. So you have to mold all these egos together and make sure in your selection of people that you don't destroy the feeling of togetherness or morale, because it is a fragile thing. ~ Dick Motta
Morale quotes by Dick Motta
Surely, it's one of terrorism's intended effects, to literally stun our morale, to blow up strength and will along with buildings, and the reaction is hard to counter. ~ Caroline Knapp
Morale quotes by Caroline Knapp
People whistle or sing while passing near a cemetery in the darkness! The same thing is happening now: The fear of coronavirus pushes people to give morale to themselves! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Morale quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Battles are decided more by the morale of the troops than by their bodily strength. ~ Xenophon
Morale quotes by Xenophon
Workaholism

Our culture celebrates the idea of the workaholic. We hear about people burning the midnight oil. They pull all- nighters and sleep at the office. It's considered a badge of honor to kill yourself over a project. No amount of work is too much work. Not only is this workaholism unnecessary, it's stupid. Working more doesn't mean you care more or get more done. It just means you work more.

Workaholics wind up creating more problems than they solve. First off, working like that just isn't sustainable over time. When the burnout crash comes - and it will - it'll hit that much harder. Workaholics miss the point, too. They try to fix problems by throwing sheer hours at them. They try to make up for intellectual laziness with brute force. This results in inelegant solutions. They even create crises. They don't look for ways to be more efficient because they actually like working overtime. They enjoy feeling like heroes. They create problems (often unwittingly) just so they can get off on working more.

Workaholics make the people who don't stay late feel inadequate for "merely" working reasonable hours. That leads to guilt and poor morale all around. Plus, it leads to an ass- in- seat mentality - people stay late out of obligation, even if they aren't really being productive. If all you do is work, you're unlikely to have sound judgments. Your values and decision making wind up skewed. You stop being able to decide what's worth extra eff ~ Jason Fried
Morale quotes by Jason Fried
This'll do it. Can you see Tereza and Maddy over there getting pedicures and arguing."
"Mmm," Sophia mused. "They disagree about the name for the beauty products we don't even have
yet. I don't know if it's Maddy or the concept, but it's boosted Nonna's morale. ~ Nora Roberts
Morale quotes by Nora Roberts
Cancer is a disease where the patient can contribute a great deal of help himself if he or she can retain their morale and their hopes. ~ George Carman
Morale quotes by George Carman
In the morning, real nurses taught us the rudiments of anatomy and instructed us in the preparation of dressings and bandages. But then in the afternoon, representatives of the Frauenschaft, the women's auxiliary of the Nazi Party, came to instruct us in our real mission: to boost the morale of the wounded and spread the propaganda of German invincibility. ~ Edith Hahn Beer
Morale quotes by Edith Hahn Beer
Allied air forces flying from England lost twenty bombers a day in March; another three thousand Eighth Air Force bombers were damaged that month. Morale problems could be seen in the decision of nearly ninety U.S. crews in March and April to fly to neutral countries, usually Sweden or Switzerland, to be interned for the duration. The ~ Rick Atkinson
Morale quotes by Rick Atkinson
Funny people, the Germans. When you got them in a bunch they were all Nazis (they had to be), but when you got the little people by themselves and worked on them for a while they didn't have any morale underneath. Inside they seemed naked and defenceless. ~ Paul Brickhill
Morale quotes by Paul Brickhill
At the pet store he picked out two painted turtles, each about as big around as a mayonnaise-jar lid. He bought them a large kidney shaped dish that had its own little island, a plastic palm tree, some aquatic plants, and a snail. The snail, presumably, to bolster the self-esteem of the turtles: "You think we're slow? Look at that guy." To store up the snail's morale in the same way, there was a rock. ~ Christopher Moore
Morale quotes by Christopher Moore
I think bad politics are incredibly dangerous, so it's important to make sure that people are communicating well. Culture and morale are super important. It's best to not force it, but let it happen organically and genuinely. ~ Aaron Levie
Morale quotes by Aaron Levie
I was certainly going the right way for a stroke when I left Paris. I paid for it nicely afterwards! When I stopped drinking, when I stopped smoking so much, when I began to think again instead of trying not to think - Good Lord, the depression and the prostration of it! Work in these magnificent natural surroundings (Arles) has restored my morale, but even now some efforts are too much for me: my strength fails me ... ~ Vincent Van Gogh
Morale quotes by Vincent Van Gogh
I wanted to do something for the minority Muslims living in the West, especially in the UK, to bring up their morale a bit. They need to be proud of their religion ~ Sami Yusuf
Morale quotes by Sami Yusuf
When a man is hit by Friendly Fire, his blood pressure lowers and his morale sinks. I have been hit by Friendly Fire in my heart. Sighs spill from my body instead of blood. ~ Hideo Kojima
Morale quotes by Hideo Kojima
This is a moral universe, which means that despite all the evidence that seems to be to the contrary, there is no way that evil and injustice and oppression and lies can have the last word ... that is what has upheld the morale of our people, to know that in the end good will prevail. ~ Desmond Tutu
Morale quotes by Desmond Tutu
Congressmen who willfully take action during wartime that damages morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hung ~ Abraham Lincoln
Morale quotes by Abraham Lincoln
Nothing sapped morale like the fear of being attacked from behind. ~ Conn Iggulden
Morale quotes by Conn Iggulden
Adjectives are used as nouns ("greats," "notables"). Nouns are used as verbs ("to host"), or they are chopped off to form verbs ("enthuse," "emote"), or they are padded to form verbs ("beef up," "put teeth into"). This is a world where eminent people are "famed" and their associates are "staffers," where the future is always "upcoming" and someone is forever "firing off" a note. Nobody in America has sent a note or a memo or a telegram in years. Famed diplomat Condoleezza Rice, who hosts foreign notables to beef up the morale of top State Department staffers, sits down and fires off a lot of notes. Notes that are fired off are always fired in anger and from a sitting position. What the weapon is I've never found out. ~ William Zinsser
Morale quotes by William Zinsser
Unfortunately, in this Obama Government, we have charges of drug trafficking and terrorism. For Evo, it's drug trafficking. For Hugo, it's terrorism. Evo Morales, drug trafficking. Hugo Chavez, terrorism. ~ Evo Morales
Morale quotes by Evo Morales
Trust is kind of this economic lubricant. When trust is high, morale is high ... Higher trust environments produce individuals who are happier. ~ Paul J. Zak
Morale quotes by Paul J. Zak
I don't need to be vocal about my intentions, I am just intentional about my actions. ~ Janna Cachola
Morale quotes by Janna Cachola
The best morale exist when you never hear the word mentioned. When you hear a lot of talk about it, it's usually lousy. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
Morale quotes by Dwight D. Eisenhower
Today's Arab crisis is not one of money, men, morale, land or resources ... The real crisis is rather one of leadership, management and perennial egotism. ~ Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Morale quotes by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Many of the deficiencies of our economic system could be alleviated if ways were found to broaden the ownership of the means of production ... This has happened in some companies through ESOPs. Successful approaches of this sort would pay dividends in terms of employee commitment and morale. And they would not deprive anyone of his present holdings since they are based on future growth. ~ John D. Rockefeller
Morale quotes by John D. Rockefeller
As I see it, I am not just in charge of food service; I am in charge of morale. ~ Chip Heath
Morale quotes by Chip Heath
Artists reach areas far beyond the reach of politicians. Art, especially entertainment and music, is understood by everybody, and it lifts the spirits and the morale of those who hear it. ~ Nelson Mandela
Morale quotes by Nelson Mandela
As for the problem of overproduction, which has been latent in our society since the development of the machine technique, it is solved by the device of continuous warfare, which is also useful in keying up public morale to the necessary pitch.
...
The problem, that is to say, is educational. It is a problem of continuously molding the consciousness both of the directing group and of the larger executive group that lies immediately below it. The consciousness of the masses needs only to be influenced in a negative way. ~ George Orwell
Morale quotes by George Orwell
If I may, Miss," Sands said. "What you call 'a mascot' is more what should be termed 'an icon.' A subject not just of morale but of veneration or even worship. These men are United States Marines, yes, and they will continue to do their duty. But they are Marines who have lost everything. Family, friends, buddies, country. We are one and all lost and adrift on a darkling sea. You, Miss Smith, have become not their pin-up girl but their heart and soul. They would follow me into hell. Charge any shore, face any fire. I am their Gunny. That's what Marines do. If you hinted that Satan had a case of ammo you particularly liked, they would charge in without a bucket of water. As Staff Sergeant Januscheitis said when he, separately, brought the idea up: 'The only thing we've got left, Gunny, is Faith. ~ John Ringo
Morale quotes by John Ringo
The morale when I came in was not the best. It was because the agency had not been valued. ~ Karen Mills
Morale quotes by Karen Mills
And what always struck me about that war period was how even Churchill had to talk socialism to keep up people's morale. ~ Barbara Castle
Morale quotes by Barbara Castle
The bigger things get the smaller and duller or flatter the globe gets. It is getting to be all one blasted little provincial suburb. When they have introduced American sanitation, morale-pep, feminism, and mass production throughout the Near East, Middle East, Far East, U.S.S.R., the Pampas, el Gran Chaco, the Danubian Basin, Equatorial Africa, Hirther Further and Inner Mumbo-land, Gondhwannaland, Lhasas, and the villages of darkest Berkshire, how happy we shall be . At any rate it out to cut down travel. There will be nowhere to go. So people will (I opine) go all the faster. (leter 53) ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Morale quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
More than ever, we have big houses and broken homes, high incomes and low morale, secured rights and diminished civility. We excel at making a living but often fail at making a life. We celebrate our prosperity but yearn for a purpose. We cherish our freedoms but long for connection. In an age of plenty, we feel spiritual hunger. ~ Craig Gross
Morale quotes by Craig Gross
If life is a movie most people would consider themselves the star of their own feature. Guys might imagine they're living some action adventure epic. Chicks maybe are in a rose-colored fantasy romance. And homosexuals are living la vida loca in a fabulous musical. Still others may take the indie approach and think of themselves as an anti-hero in a coming of age flick. Or a retro badass in an exploitation B movie. Or the cable man in a very steamy adult picture. Some people's lives are experimental student art films that don't make any sense. Some are screwball comedies. Others resemble a documentary, all serious and educational. A few lives achieve blockbuster status and are hailed as a tribute to the human spirit. Some gain a small following and enjoy cult status. And some never got off the ground due to insufficient funding. I don't know what my life is but I do know that I'm constantly squabbling with the director over creative control, throwing prima donna tantrums and pouting in my personal trailor when things don't go my way.

Much of our lives is spent on marketing. Make-up, exercise, dieting, clothes, hair, money, charm, attitude, the strut, the pose, the Blue Steel look. We're like walking billboards advertising ourselves. A sneak peek of upcoming attractions. Meanwhile our actual production is in disarray--we're over budget, doing poorly at private test screenings and focus groups, creatively stagnant, morale low. So we're endlessly tinkering, touching u ~ Tatsuya Ishida
Morale quotes by Tatsuya Ishida
As a volunteer reader to the blind, Babette had some reservations about the old gent's appetite for the unspeakable and seamy, believing that the handicapped were morally bound to higher types of entertainment. If we couldn't look to them for victories of the human spirit, who could we look to? They had an example to set just as she did as a reader and morale-booster. But she was professional in her duty, reading to him with high earnestness, as to a child, about dead men who leave messages on answering machines. ~ Don DeLillo
Morale quotes by Don DeLillo
Morale and attitude are fundamentals to success. ~ Bud Wilkinson
Morale quotes by Bud Wilkinson
Though Radu did not like the intense heat of the foundry, he visited as often as he could. And it was a good thing he had come back when he did. Urbana was screaming in Hungarian at several confused workers. Radu jumped in as a translator, though he left out most of what she said. He did not think telling the workers that they were "more useless than the rotting carcasses of a thousand dead dogs" would help morale. ~ Kiersten White
Morale quotes by Kiersten White
Presidents and other politicians manage the appearance of things, largely by manipulating the air and hope. ~ George Friedman
Morale quotes by George Friedman
But [Coca-Cola] was also genuinely welcomed by the servicemen in far-flung military bases: Coca-Cola reminded them of home and helped to maintain morale. ~ Tom Standage
Morale quotes by Tom Standage
While the nominal strength of a country is represented by its numbers and resources, this muscular development is dependent on the state of its internal organs and nerve-system - upon its stability of control, morale, and supply. ~ B.H. Liddell Hart
Morale quotes by B.H. Liddell Hart
On August 28, 2010, Fox News messiah Glenn Beck hosted a 'Restoring Honor' revival meeting featuring sexy guest star Sarah Palin, much as Bob Hope would roll out Raquel Welch in white go-go boots on his U.S.O. tours to give our fighting men a morale lift in their khakis. ~ James Wolcott
Morale quotes by James Wolcott
Service-based leadership is a mindset: you work for your people. It is not complex; often it's the small acts of service that have the greatest impact on morale and camaraderie. ~ Courtney Lynch
Morale quotes by Courtney Lynch
I'm writing. The pages are starting to stack up. My morale is improving the more I feel like a writer. ~ Neil Gaiman
Morale quotes by Neil Gaiman
Expendable was not the word I was looking to hear to boost my morale, but whatever. ~ Rachel Caine
Morale quotes by Rachel Caine
A bright smile has the strongest electrifying power to lift up the sagging morale and light up a depressed face effortlessly and immediately. ~ Anuj
Morale quotes by Anuj
Trying to write music, be in a band and keep it all happening is one of the hardest, morale-destroying, heartbreaking things you will ever try to do - and that's when it's going well. ~ Henry Rollins
Morale quotes by Henry Rollins
I've always thought that the President could do so much here to help change images. If the President would go into a public bathroom in the Capitol, and have the TV cameras film him cleaning the toilets and saying 'Why not? Somebody's got to do it!' then that would do so much for the morale of the people who do the wonderful job of keeping the toilets clean. I mean, it is a wonderful thing that they're doing. ~ Andy Warhol
Morale quotes by Andy Warhol
The worst of these comments came in mid-April from the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, who said in a press conference, "This war is lost" and "The surge is not accomplishing anything." I was furious and shared privately with some of my staff a quote from Abraham Lincoln I had written down long before: "Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged. ~ Robert M. Gates
Morale quotes by Robert M. Gates
Killing somebody is not so strange here. Whether it is with poison, drugs or a gunshot, every person you meet is a potential murderer or an accomplice. I'm no different. I've worked for them for years. I had a goal and threw away any morale to get what I wanted. This world is cruel, Drew. I'd like to believe it's just and fair, and the bad guys are the exception, but it's only a petty lie. People won't be good to you just because you're good to them. And if you want something, you have to be ready to give up something else. You have to be determined. Determined enough to live sacrificing ideals, pity, hope. I understand you cannot accept it. Deep down I'm happy you don't. Because the world you're looking at, despite everything you went through, is still clean. You still believe in justice. You're not like me. My world is dirty. I hate to disappoint you, but the truth is that your Shallie died because of people… like me. ~ Elen Chase
Morale quotes by Elen Chase
You are a manipulator when you try to persuade people to do something that is not in their best interests but is in yours. You are a motivator when you find goals that will be good for both sides, then weld together a high-achieving, high-morale partnership to achieve them. ~ Alan Loy McGinnis
Morale quotes by Alan Loy McGinnis
Nothing is so good for the morale of the troops as occasionally to see a dead general. ~ William Slim, 1st Viscount Slim
Morale quotes by William Slim, 1st Viscount Slim
And we are understanding - we're beginning to understand that the Nigerian military is now better on. And also, probably even more importantly, Michel, morale is higher amongst the military. I mean, you had Nigerian soldiers being accused of cowardice, running away from Boko Haram and not having the will to fight. ~ Ofeibea Quist-Arcton
Morale quotes by Ofeibea Quist-Arcton
It stands to reason: Higher wages means higher loyalty and morale, which means higher productivity, which means a more profitable business. ~ Thomas Perez
Morale quotes by Thomas Perez
It's definitely a tough blow to your morale to get fired. ~ Nina Jacobson
Morale quotes by Nina Jacobson
The sinews of war are five - men, money, materials, maintenance (food) and morale. ~ Ernest Hemingway,
Morale quotes by Ernest Hemingway,
And now, over to Romulus for our popular feature 'Pals of Potter.'"
"Thanks, River," said another very familiar voice; Ron started to speak, but Hermione forestalled him in a whisper.
"We know it's Lupin!"
"Romulus, do you maintain, as you have every time you've appeared on our program, that Harry Potter is still alive?"
"I do," said Lupin firmly. "There is no doubt at all in my mind that his death would be proclaimed as widely as possible by the Death Eaters if it had happened, because it would strike a deadly blow at the morale of those resisting the new regime. 'The Boy Who Lived' remains a symbol of everything for which we are fighting: the triumph of good, the power of innocence, the need to keep resisting."
A mixture of gratitude and shame welled up in Harry. Had Lupin forgiven him, then, for the terrible things he had said when they had last met?
"And what would you say to Harry if you knew he was listening, Romulus?"
"I'd tell him we're all with him in spirit," said Lupin, then hesitated slightly. "And I'd tell him to follow his instincts, which are good and nearly always right."
Harry looked at Hermione, whose eyes were full of tears.
"Nearly always right," she repeated.
"Oh, didn't I tell you?" said Ron in surprise. "Bill told me Lupin's living with Tonks again! And apparently she's getting pretty big too…"
"…and our usual update on those friends of Harry Potter's who are suffering for their allegiance?" Lee wa ~ J.K. Rowling
Morale quotes by J.K. Rowling
Your typical business just measures the metrics that have to do with the profitability of the business one way or another. But you can have metrics that measure employee happiness and the morale. You can also do direct customer surveys; you can track it over time. You can do supplier satisfaction scores as well. ~ John Mackey
Morale quotes by John Mackey
command-and-control management has created service organizations that are full of waste, offer poor service, depress the morale of those who work in them and are beset with management factories that not only do not contribute to improving the work, but actually make it worse. The management principles that have guided the development of these organizations are logical - but it's the wrong logic. The ~ John Seddon
