Light will be thrown on the origin of man and his history. ~ Charles Darwin
Mental Power quotes by Charles Darwin
The mental powers acquire their full robustness when the cheek loses its ruddy hue, and the limbs their elastic step; and pale thought sits on manly brows, and the watchman, as he walks his rounds, sees the student's lamp burning far into the silent night. ~ Thomas Guthrie
Mental Power quotes by Thomas Guthrie
Real, constructive mental power lies in the creative thought that shapes your destiny, and your hour-by-hour mental conduct produces power for change in your life. Develop a train of thought on which to ride. The nobility of your life as well as your happiness depends upon the direction in which that train of thought is going. ~ Laurence J. Peter
Mental Power quotes by Laurence J. Peter
It's clear that if we use the mind attentively, mental power is increased, and if we concentrate the mind in the moment, it is easier to coordinate mind and body. But in terms of mind and body unity, is there something we can concentrate on that will reliably aid us in discovering this state of coordination?

In Japan, and to some degree other Asian countries, people have historically focused mental strength in the hara (abdomen) as a way of realizing their full potential. Japan has traditionally viewed the hara as the vital center of humanity in a manner not dissimilar to the Western view of the heart or brain. I once read that years ago Japanese children were asked to point to the origin of thoughts and feelings. They inevitably pointed toward the abdominal region. When the same question was asked of American children, most pointed at their heads or hearts. Likewise, Japan and the West have commonly held differing views of what is physical power or physical health, with Japan emphasizing the strength of the waist and lower body and Western people admiring upper body power. (Consider the ideal of the sumo wrestler versus the V-shaped Western bodybuilder with a narrow waist and broad shoulders.)

However, East and West also hold similar viewpoints regarding the hara, and we're perhaps not as dissimilar as some might imagine. For instance, hara ga nai hito describes a cowardly person, "a person with no hara." Sounds similar to our saying that so-and-so "ha ~ H.E. Davey
Mental Power quotes by H.E. Davey
Mental power cannot be got from ill-fed brains. ~ Herbert Spencer
Mental Power quotes by Herbert Spencer
It is a monstrous thing to force a child to learn Latin or Greek or mathematics on the ground that they are an indispensable gymnastic for the mental powers. It would be monstrous even if it were true. ~ George Bernard Shaw
Mental Power quotes by George Bernard Shaw
The revolution is ... the blow dealt ... agains the counter force of tyranny, which has never entirely recovered from the blow, but which from then till now has gone on remolding and regrappling the instruments of governmental power, that the Revolution sought to shape and hold as defenses of liberty. ~ Voltairine De Cleyre
Mental Power quotes by Voltairine De Cleyre
There is a certain proper and luxurious way of lying in bed. Confucius, that great artist of life, "never lay straight" in bed, "like a corpse", but always curled up on one side. I believe one of the greatest pleasures of life is to curl up one's legs in bed. The posture of the arms is also very important, in order to reach the greatest degree of aesthetic pleasure and mental power. I believe the best posture is not lying flat on the bed, but being upholstered with big soft pillows at an angle of thirty degrees with either one arm or both arms placed behind the back of one's head. ~ Lin Yutang
Mental Power quotes by Lin Yutang
The teacher has nothing to do with people who use their mental powers to block the enlightenment of others. These people lack control. What can you teach someone who lacks control? ~ Frederick Lenz
Mental Power quotes by Frederick Lenz
There is a limited elite that understands the secrets of their own techniques, but not necessarily of all techniques. These men are close to the seat of modern governmental power. The state is no longer founded on the 'average citizen', but on the ability and knowledge of this elite. The average man is altogether unable to penetrate technical secrets or governmental organization and consequently can exert no influence at all on the state. ~ Jacques Ellul
Mental Power quotes by Jacques Ellul
Intellectual growth is when you surpass the barrier of puerility, puzzling people with your dazzling creativity. ~ Michael Bassey Johnson
Mental Power quotes by Michael Bassey Johnson
It was not about losing my mental power; it's about not feeling good about my contribution to the game. ~ Garry Kasparov
Mental Power quotes by Garry Kasparov
This all-pervading power is the power of divine love. It thinks. It organizes. It plans. It loves. It is the one which is the subtle of the ether, you can call it. It is the subtle of the matter. It is the subtle of your emotions. It is the subtle of your mental power. It is the subtle of your evolutionary power, but all integrated and coordinated in complete synchronization. ~ Nirmala Srivastava
Mental Power quotes by Nirmala Srivastava
Solitude either develops the mental power, or renders men dull and vicious. ~ Victor Hugo
Mental Power quotes by Victor Hugo
That's because they're people, only smarter. They know us better than we know them, and a lot of them have a sense of humor. They're exactly like us minus our useless mental power and thumbs. ~ Bob Tarte
Mental Power quotes by Bob Tarte
For years I've studied the ancients' claims of man's awesome mental power, and now science is showing us that accessing that power is an actual physical process. Our brains, if used correctly, can call forth powers that are quite literally superhuman. ~ Dan Brown
Mental Power quotes by Dan Brown
even women of great beauty cannot fare well if they lack mental power. ~ Sigrid Weidenweber
Mental Power quotes by Sigrid Weidenweber
I myself, a professional mathematician, on re-reading my own work find it strains my mental powers to recall to mind from the figures the meanings of the demonstrations, meanings which I myself originally put into the figures and the text from my mind. But when I attempt to remedy the obscurity of the material by putting in extra words, I see myself falling into the opposite fault of becoming chatty in something mathematical. ~ Johannes Kepler
Mental Power quotes by Johannes Kepler
There is an inherent tendency in all governmental power to recognize no restraints on its operation and to extend the sphere of its dominion as much as possible. To control everything, to leave no room for anything to happen of its own accord without the interference of the authorities
th is is the goal for which every ruler secretly strives. ~ Ludwig Von Mises
Mental Power quotes by Ludwig Von Mises
How are men to be secured in any rights without instruction; how to be secured in the equal exercise of those rights without equality of instruction? By instruction understand me to mean knowledge - just knowledge; not talent, not genius, not inventive mental powers. ~ Frances Wright
Mental Power quotes by Frances Wright
it's only by not taking the human race seriously that I retain what fragments of my once considerable mental powers I still possess! ~ Arthur C. Clarke
Mental Power quotes by Arthur C. Clarke
When you truly study top performers in any field, what sets them apart is not their physical skill; it is how they control their minds. ~ Tina Brown
Mental Power quotes by Tina Brown
Woodrow Wilson claimed that history endows us with the invaluable mental power we call judgment. ~ Sam Wineburg
Mental Power quotes by Sam Wineburg
And, as I have said, it's made me think twice about the imagination. If the spirits aren't external, how astonishing the mediums become! Victor Hugo said of his voices that they were like his own mental powers multiplied by five. ~ James Merrill
Mental Power quotes by James Merrill
By relieving the brain of all unnecessary work, a good notation sets it free to concentrate on more advanced problems, and in effect increases the mental power of the race. ~ Alfred North Whitehead

Mental Power quotes by Ilchi Lee

Mental Power quotes by P.G. Wodehouse

Mental Power quotes by Charles Darwin
Every great soul nurtures strong positive mental power. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Mental Power quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power. My Mother had taught me to seek all truth in the Bible. ~ Nikola Tesla
Mental Power quotes by Nikola Tesla
Peace with God and the peace of God in a man's heart and the joy of fellowship with Christ have in themselves a beneficial effect upon the body and mind and will lead to the development and preservation of physical and mental power. ~ Billy Graham
Mental Power quotes by Billy Graham
We were encouraged to propose safetyprevention suggestions, and write them all down - locking doors, walking or exercising with a friend, wearing shoes that don't hinder running. Erin's suggestion of "Avoid assholes" was popular. ~ Tammara Webber
Mental Power quotes by Tammara Webber
If you sit in judgment, investigate, if you sit in supreme power, sit in command. ~ Seneca The Younger

Despite Caleb's attempts at caution - at circumspection and even suspicion - the man's words stirred his blood. They teased the possibilities of the power within his reach, real power extending far beyond parlor tricks and personal protection to a place where the course of life itself could be changed.

"I am. ~ G.S. Jennsen
Mental Power quotes by G.S. Jennsen
One thing you can never underestimate is the power of water. ~ Joe Teti
Mental Power quotes by Joe Teti
Power from any source tends to create an appetite for additional power. It was almost inevitable that the super-rich would one day aspire to control not only their own wealth, but the wealth of the whole world. To achieve this, they were perfectly willing to feed the ambitions of the power-hungry political conspirators who were committed to the overthrow of all existing governments and the establishment of a central worldwide dictatorship. ~ W. Cleon Skousen
Mental Power quotes by W. Cleon Skousen
The Sheldon Adelsons, the Koch brothers, the George Soroses, what we want to try to do is force them into the parties, not so that Kasich or whoever is going to straight to them and trying to kiss up to special interests, but so the parties have the power and they can direct the money. ~ Mark Shields
Mental Power quotes by Mark Shields
I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that l the power of Christ may rest upon me. ~ Anonymous
Mental Power quotes by Anonymous

Mental Power quotes by Franklyn Ajaye
A clear vision, backed by definite plans, gives you a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power. ~ Brian Tracy
Mental Power quotes by Brian Tracy
In the spiritual life you must practice. And the only way to practice is by trying to solve your problems with prayer. This develops your spiritual power and it also trains you to use that spiritual power in the most effective way. ~ Emmet Fox
Mental Power quotes by Emmet Fox
The infrastructure of power is human neurosoft compatible ROM. Authority instantiates itself as linear instruction pathways, genetic baboonery, scriptures, traditions, rituals, and gerontocratic hierarchies, resonant with the dominator ur-myth that the nature of reality has already been decided. If you want to find ICE, try thinking about what is blocking you out of the past. It certainly isn't a law of nature. Temporalization decompresses intensity, installing constraint. ~ Nick Land
Mental Power quotes by Nick Land
Driving home that night, I felt so much better. I was no longer a freak of nature--the kind of freak that spends every waking hour with a man for months on end but has some sort of bizarre mental defect that prevents her from articulating her feelings for him--the kind of freak that allows the man to express his love time after time but gives nothing in return. I felt good about it, too, that I'd had the uncharacteristic boldness to tell him I loved him before he'd had a chance to say it to me first that night. I wanted to say I love you, not I love you, too. I knew there was a reason I liked submarine movies.
I had no idea where our relationship was headed. But I did know that I meant what I'd said.
I slept like a baby that night. ~ Ree Drummond
Mental Power quotes by Ree Drummond
Papadopoulos simply did not possess the power. 'I can't!' I SHALT ASSIST, promised the Arrow of Dodona. STARTEST THOU: 'PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY.' 'The enchantment does not start plaguey, plaguey, plaguey!' 'Who are you talking to?' Austin demanded. 'My arrow! I ~ Rick Riordan
Mental Power quotes by Rick Riordan
The balance of power has shifted - and how we've moved from a world of caveat emptor, buyer beware, to one of caveat venditor, seller beware - where honesty, fairness, and transparency are often the only viable path. ~ Daniel H. Pink
Mental Power quotes by Daniel H. Pink
Gullibility and credulity are considered undesireable qualities in every department of human life - except religion ... Why are we praised by godly men for surrendering our 'godly gift' of reason when we cross their mental thresholds? ~ Christopher Hitchens
Mental Power quotes by Christopher Hitchens
A twitch at the controls could swerve the cat', but the driver's hands could not twitch because the monster that built the tractor, the monster that sent the tractor out, had somehow got into the driver's hands, into his brain and muscle, had goggled him and muzzled him - goggled his mind, muzzled his speech, goggled his perception, muzzled his protest. He could not see the land as it was, he could not smell the land as it smelled; his feet did not stamp the clods or feel the warmth and power of the earth. He sat in an iron seat and stepped on iron pedals. He could not cheer or beat or curse or encourage the extension of his power, and because of this he could not cheer or whip or curse or encourage himself. He did not know or own or trust or beseech the land. If a seed dropped did not germinate, it was nothing. If the young thrusting plant withered in drought or drowned in a flood of rain, it was no more to the driver than to the tractor. He ~ John Steinbeck
Mental Power quotes by John Steinbeck
Power-over is amoral. Power-to is responsibility. ~ Gloria Feldt
Mental Power quotes by Gloria Feldt
If I had been Terry Pratchett the farmer, or Terry Pratchett the dentist, nobody would have paid any attention if I had announced I had Alzheimer's. But there is something fascinating about an author losing the power over words. ~ Terry Pratchett
Mental Power quotes by Terry Pratchett
Fake flattery or not, his words spiked my system with happy. Behold, the power of a guy paying attention to a girl. ~ Jenny B. Jones
Mental Power quotes by Jenny B. Jones
I am a Christian. I believe in God. I believe in Christ. Everybody is entitled to their own religion and their own opinion. I'm not saying I'm perfect and that I don't make mistakes. But I do believe in a higher power. ~ Davone Bess
Mental Power quotes by Davone Bess
I'm not giving you his number because he's mine and if you get anywhere near him I swear to God the thing I do to you will be chronicled on Investigation Discovery for years to come ~ Jay Crownover
Mental Power quotes by Jay Crownover
Where a man does his best with only moderate powers, he will have the advantage over negligent superiority. ~ Jane Austen
Mental Power quotes by Jane Austen
The boy held her tighter, murmured soft words to lull her to sleep.
"It's only a nightmare," he whispered. "The dreams will stop."
He didn't understand. The dreams were the only place it was safe to use her power now, and she longed for them. ~ Leigh Bardugo
Mental Power quotes by Leigh Bardugo
Imagine all of L.A. filled with windup men wandering empty-headed and waiting for orders and directions and purpose. That's L.A. in a nutshell. A city of driven creatures, but no one is a hundred percent sure what they're driven toward. Wealth. Fame. Power. Love. Revenge. These are all the obvious end points for the citizens of a spectral city, but none of them quite encompass a final goal. That's more fragile. Something that slips away like smoke the moment it's in your hands. It's a moonshine cocktail of desperation and desire, the certainty that you can find perfection through sheer willpower and the cold terror that if you do reach the goal it will have twisted into something new. A new fevered need born of the search for this one. Searching for the next goal will breed another. And on and on. L.A. and Kill City full of Pinocchios with whirring gears for brains, all wanting to be real boys but sunk in the certainty that they'll never become anything because they're nothing. They came from nothing and are headed for a further and harder nothing. ~ Richard Kadrey
Mental Power quotes by Richard Kadrey
Great souls forgive not injuries till time has put their enemies within their power, that they may show forgiveness is their own. ~ John Dryden
Mental Power quotes by John Dryden
We are made up of different parts, some good, some bad, and a healthy mind can tolerate this ambivalence and juggle both good and bad at the same time. Mental illness is precisely about a lack of this kind of integration - we end up losing contact with the unacceptable parts of ourselves. ~ Alex Michaelides
Mental Power quotes by Alex Michaelides
Don't think too small about what God could do in your life - be prepared for God to do a big thing. ~ Stormie O'martian
Mental Power quotes by Stormie O'martian
In my stories, I wrote Malcolm as fire and gold and power, but here in my arms, Colin is cedar, silver, and summer air. ~ Jacqueline E. Smith
Mental Power quotes by Jacqueline E. Smith
I try to do stories that make a difference - stories that affect the way people think, stories that people need to hear - and usually what drives me is to do stories about people who have no voice, people who have no political power, people who are overlooked by society. ~ Ann Curry
Mental Power quotes by Ann Curry
Vis in magia, in vita vi." In magic there is power, and in power, life. ~ Meagan Spooner
Mental Power quotes by Meagan Spooner
In the twilight, it was a vision of power. ~ Upton Sinclair
Mental Power quotes by Upton Sinclair
Reconnection to the suppressed, yet incredible spirit and creativity of the managed - the many who day in, day out, do the ordinary work of the world from which the wealth, power, and fame of the few is extracted. ~ Anonymous
Mental Power quotes by Anonymous
In retrospect, crappy chemicals in my brain were working overtime, driving me to destroy myself, like that thing that makes lemmings throw them¬selves over a cliff. ~ Felicia Day
Mental Power quotes by Felicia Day
I am trying to help myself.

I am grateful for myself because I am seeking help.

I am taking seeking charge of my life.

I am going to recover perfectly. ~ Charlena E. Jackson
Mental Power quotes by Charlena E. Jackson
If we can tame or restrain our addiction to the blinding overabundance of technical widgets, we can "tool down" our mental frame. It's, by opening our mind to the infinite potential of the world around, that we can take time for the others and learn to listen and interpret their captivating stories. ("Should I shave first?") ~ Erik Pevernagie
Mental Power quotes by Erik Pevernagie
The power of a man's virtue should not be measured by his special efforts, but by his ordinary doing. ~ Blaise Pascal
Mental Power quotes by Blaise Pascal
Hinduism is a living organism. One and indivisible at the root, it has grown into a vast tree with innumerable branches. Knowledge is limitless and so also the application of truth. Everyday we add to our knowledge of the power of Atman (soul) and we shall keep on doing so. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Mental Power quotes by Mahatma Gandhi
I strongly support European sanctions against Mugabe and his ruling clique. We must do all in our power to help the people of Zimbabwe achieve their freedom and prosperity once again. ~ Peter Hain
Mental Power quotes by Peter Hain
Conventional wisdom says if a jury is going to no-cause the plaintiff - award no damages - the verdict will be swift. Similar logic applies to criminal trials where juries will, within hours, convict people, but take days to acquit. In civil cases, this rule is more than courtroom legend . . . A defense verdict requires one finding - the defendant was not responsible . . . A plaintiff verdict requires a finding of liability and evaluation of damages, something not needed in a defense verdict. Thus, by sheer evidence evaluation, a jury has more work to do when rendering a verdict in favor of the plaintiff. ~ Mark M. Bello
Mental Power quotes by Mark M. Bello
Their screams would echo through the house and reverberate against my eardrums until my mind would fracture. Years went by and with each fracture; I lost a piece of my soul until I became lost and empty inside. ~ J.D. Stroube
Mental Power quotes by J.D. Stroube
Money is just another word for power. ~ Joline Godfrey
Mental Power quotes by Joline Godfrey
People develop a conscience with or without religion. Our culture teaches murder and cheating are wrong; we don't need religion to know this.
Guilt comes from a different place in our mental experience, a place that is independent of general cultural training and directly related to religious indoctrination. That is why two people may feel guilt about different things while being equally convinced that cheating and murder are wrong. ~ Darrel Ray
Mental Power quotes by Darrel Ray
Something sacred, that's it. We ought to be able to say that such and such a painting is as it is, with its capacity for power, because it is "touched by God." ~ Pablo Picasso
Mental Power quotes by Pablo Picasso
Change your mental imagery, and the feelings will take care of themselves. ~ Maxwell Maltz
