Even though I support the blue side of Manchester's football heritage, I don't really mind that wherever I go in the world it's not Manchester City that starts the conversation. 'Ah, yes, Manchester United,' is the response when I say where I come from. It's commonplace everywhere - in Europe, Africa, Asia and even the U.S. ~ Lucy Powell
Manchester United quotes by Lucy Powell
Paul Scholes is my favourite player. He epitomises the spirit of Manchester United and everything that is good about football. ~ Bobby Charlton
Manchester United quotes by Bobby Charlton
Exeter City's trip to Old Trafford will be a great day for their fans but that is about it - they won't get the result they want against Manchester United. ~ Mark Lawrenson
Manchester United quotes by Mark Lawrenson
Remember every team wants to beat Chelsea, probably even more than Manchester United or Arsenal because they believe we have an unfair advantage. ~ Frank Lampard
Manchester United quotes by Frank Lampard
Welbeck is not the standard required at Manchester United. ~ Louis Van Gaal
Manchester United quotes by Louis Van Gaal
Is this good for English football? In the short run, Chelsea's rise has broken up what was turning into an irritating Arsenal-Manchester United duopoly. But football leagues (look at Scotland, look at Spain) can get along OK with duopolies. A monopoly, however, is a disaster. Everyone else in the Premiership has to operate on some kind of business footing, and the terror stalking Highbury and Old Trafford is that Chelsea will be immune from financial discipline forever. ~ Matthew Engel
Manchester United quotes by Matthew Engel
Scholes was playing tiki-taka football when nobody in England knew what it was. He was another of those players, like Denis Law or Bobby Moore, who at 15 probably looked as if he wouldn't make it. Too small, you would think - can't run, dumpy little ginger nut - but then the ball would come to him and he would dazzle you. He was the best footballer in that Manchester United midfield, better than Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane. ~ Harry Redknapp
Manchester United quotes by Harry Redknapp
If ever there was one player, anywhere in the world, that was made for Manchester United, it was Cantona. He swaggered in, stuck his chest out, raised his head and surveyed everything as though he was asking: 'I'm Cantona. How big are you? Are you big enough for me?' ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
I'm no longer thinking of Madrid. That dream is dead. The only thing I dream about now is Manchester United and winning the Champions League again in Rome. ~ Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United quotes by Cristiano Ronaldo
I once bought a Manchester United hat, which I think was 12 shillings, and somebody ran up behind me and pulled it off and just ran ahead. I thought, 'It's a very cruel world, I'm not prepared for this'. And I decided to get my revenge on society. ~ Steven Morrissey
Manchester United quotes by Steven Morrissey
If I had a Paul Scholes in my team, everything would be around him. At Manchester United, they saw it like that, but I think Paul Scholes is one of the best I've played against in this league, and seen anywhere. ~ Thierry Henry
Manchester United quotes by Thierry Henry
I remember seeing Eric Cantona play for Manchester United. The way he used to control games was special to watch. ~ Ronaldinho
Manchester United quotes by Ronaldinho
Sometimes defeats are the best outcomes. To react to adversity is a quality. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
If I was to transfer abroad at some stage, then it would only be to Manchester United ~ Mats Hummels
Manchester United quotes by Mats Hummels
The atmosphere generated by the fans in Celtic's stadium for our visit was the most impressive I've ever witnessed. The grounds of Liverpool and Manchester United are good and the hostile feeling of playing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu is also excellent, but the atmosphere against Celtic was the best. ~ Xavi
Manchester United quotes by Xavi
There is no doubt that I would have won more honours had I signed for Manchester United as a youngster. ~ Michael Owen
Manchester United quotes by Michael Owen
There was one or two offers that did come along during my time at United, but I always came back to this point; why would you leave United? Where is the bigger challenge? And the thing about challenges is, once you have won something, you can't live on that. Not at Manchester United - you have got to win the next one. And that's the challenge. Maintaining that consistency of winning which is a mentality that I have had. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
A handful of individual football stars - not necessarily the most talented, but those boasting good looks, beautiful wives and an animated private life - assumed a role in European public life and popular newspapers hitherto reserved for movie starlets or minor royalty. When David Beckham (an English player of moderate technical gifts but an unsurpassed talent for self-promotion) moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2003, it made headline television news in every member-state of the European Union. Beckham's embarrassing performance at the European Football Championships in Portugal the following year - the England captain missed two penalties, hastening his country's ignominious early departure - did little to dampen the enthusiasm of his fans. ~ Tony Judt
Manchester United quotes by Tony Judt
There is no evidence that changing your managers repeatedly leads to success, but there is evidence at Manchester United, I was managing there for 26 years I won 38 trophies. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
When I think football, I think Manchester United. I still support United and always will. I will die with them in my heart. ~ Eric Cantona
Manchester United quotes by Eric Cantona
As long as we are
successful on the pitch, then I
will be here-unless Manchester United put in a call. But I don't think Sir Alex
Ferguson is planning to step
down just yet! ~ Paul Ince
Manchester United quotes by Paul Ince
Maybe one small regret is that I never got to play with Paul Scholes - but I was never going to leave Barcelona and he was never going to leave Manchester United. ~ Xavi
Manchester United quotes by Xavi
Paul Jewell's sides are always hard to break down, although Manchester United have a habit of breaking his sides down pretty easily. ~ Charlie Nicholas
Manchester United quotes by Charlie Nicholas
Manchester United have, since 1991, conquered Europe about as successfully as Head and Shoulders has conquered dandruff ~ Martin Samuel
Manchester United quotes by Martin Samuel
Our number one opponents are not Liverpool, Arsenal or Manchester United. It is ourselves at Chelsea. ~ Didier Drogba
Manchester United quotes by Didier Drogba
Why anyone would want to leave Everton is beyond me anyway. Even for Manchester United, Chelsea or anyone. This is the place to be. ~ Neville Southall
Manchester United quotes by Neville Southall
The Greatest" is a bite-your-tongue-book. Ultimately a tragic tale it is also immensely uplifting and easily the best footballer biography I have ever read. ~ Mike Parry
Manchester United quotes by Mike Parry
If you want me to rule out ever being Manchester United manager, I can't. Special clubs need special managers, so in theory it could work. ~ Jose Mourinho
Manchester United quotes by Jose Mourinho
It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, makes me very proud. I have managed in games at Old Trafford before and know what an incredible arena Old Trafford is and how passionate and knowledgeable the fans are. This club has big ambitions; I too have big ambitions. Together I'm sure we will make history. ~ Louis Van Gaal
Manchester United quotes by Louis Van Gaal
I look at what is happening with Ryan Giggs at Manchester United now and I am dismayed that Liverpool are letting that experience leave, ~ Jamie Carragher
Manchester United quotes by Jamie Carragher
Manchester United could have any goalkeeper in the world. I was a 23-year-old kid from New Jersey who, from an early age, had to cope with Tourette's Syndrome, a brain disorder that can trigger speech and facial tics, vocal outbursts and obsessive compulsive behavior. ~ Tim Howard
Manchester United quotes by Tim Howard
Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes, he is the best midfielder of his generation. I would had loved to play alongside him. ~ Pep Guardiola
Manchester United quotes by Pep Guardiola
They (the press) have a hatred of Manchester United. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
And now International Soccer Special, Manchester United v Southampton ~ David Coleman
Manchester United quotes by David Coleman
Manchester United and Liverpool have been bought with huge leverage, and we've got Roman Abramovich at Chelsea who can turn his loans into shares. It is really important for the Premier League to ask itself: if a club is being bought on such a mountain of debt, isn't that a possible recipe for disaster for the future? ~ Gordon Taylor
Manchester United quotes by Gordon Taylor
People have to understand one thing: at the age of 18, I arrived at a dream club like Manchester United. It was a dream come true. But, even at that moment, I was thinking about playing in England for some years and then going to play in Spain. Even at that time I was thinking that way, and I always gave 100% everything. ~ Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United quotes by Cristiano Ronaldo
Now let me say that Matt Busby was a great manager and Manchester United wouldn't be where they are without him. He was a god at the club, but he wasn't a god to me. Football is like that sometimes. ~ Johnny Giles
Manchester United quotes by Johnny Giles
I think what's surprised me most about the club is to feel that wherever you go, even when you go on holiday to a quiet place, you always find Man Utd supporters. It's something that you do not expect in some countries, yet we have them all around the world. Manchester United is a special and unique club because of its history. No-one has won as many trophies as we have in the English league. That history is something that you cannot buy. I think this club has a lot of great history and I feel very proud to be part of it. ~ Juan Mata
Manchester United quotes by Juan Mata
As a player I won things, had a special 10 years under Martin O'Neill [at Leicester and Celtic] and played in some great teams, beating Manchester United and getting to the last 16 of the Champions League. As a manager, I don't know if I will top this; I hope I do, because I am still young and am still learning. But this is up there with anything I have achieved, not just in my football career but in my life. ~ Neil Lennon
Manchester United quotes by Neil Lennon
My greatest challenge is not what's happening at the moment, my greatest challenge was knocking Liverpool right off their f*****g perch. And you can print that. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
We had been getting some bad results, now it is up to us to make up the ground and catch Manchester United. ~ Robbie Fowler
Manchester United quotes by Robbie Fowler

Manchester United quotes by Martin Tyler
I love the pressure of managing Manchester United ~ Manuel Pellegrini
Manchester United quotes by Manuel Pellegrini
We got anxious at the end of the weekend in our urgency to try to score the winning goal. Ended up playing far too many long balls forward. That style of play doesn't suit Manchester United. We must continue to play football and enjoy the game. If we do that, eventually things will come right for us. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
When you join this club as a young player you know you've got a mountain to climb to get yourself into the first team.
(on Manchester United) ~ Gary Neville
Manchester United quotes by Gary Neville

Manchester United quotes by Salman Rushdie
The most beautiful sight in football is too watch Manchester United chase a game. ~ Teddy Sheringham
Manchester United quotes by Teddy Sheringham
Of course I miss playing for Manchester United. I played there for six years and that's a long time. I am still interested in watching Manchester United and, you never know, maybe in the future I could return to play there. It's always possible. I want to fulfil my contract here but, in the future, only God knows. I will not say I am not happy here at Real Madrid. I am really happy and everyone knows this is my club but, of course, I miss Manchester United, the boss, the players, because I left family there. ~ Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United quotes by Cristiano Ronaldo
Yes, I thought I was joining Manchester United, I was misled by all involved. I wasnt aware of another Manchester team ~ Robinho
Manchester United quotes by Robinho
Manchester United? That's not an option. I am staying at Bayern Munich. Period. I had a great time under Van Gaal at Bayern, he has been very important for my career but I am very happy at my current club. ~ Arjen Robben
Manchester United quotes by Arjen Robben
I'm home. I hope the Manchester United fans forgive me for being late. ~ Robin Van Persie
Manchester United quotes by Robin Van Persie
I thought I would be at United for a couple of years, maybe three or four, and then go abroad somewhere. But I just fell in love with Manchester United. I fell in love with winning, fell in love with the history of the club and being part of it was something I could never have imagined. ~ Rio Ferdinand
Manchester United quotes by Rio Ferdinand
It'll be nice to know that every gallon of petrol a Manchester United fan buys is going into our kitty. ~ Noel Gallagher
Manchester United quotes by Noel Gallagher
The chairmen of the largest companies in the world can cancel an appointment or move a board meeting; a manager cannot change the date of a game. In the combined 42 years that Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have managed in English football, I can only remember one occasion when Sir Alex did not attend a Manchester United game. ~ Howard Wilkinson
Manchester United quotes by Howard Wilkinson
We are about creating a new wave of talent. We are the Manchester United of kitchens now. Am I playing full-time in the kitchen? I am a player-coach. ~ Gordon Ramsay
Manchester United quotes by Gordon Ramsay
Speed is what makes the Premiership exciting. The millions who would have watched Manchester United and Chelsea would have seen a non-stop game in which the pace was electric even though the first half was a non-event. You could see a better technical game in Spain but for sheer frenetic movement there is nothing that comes close ... Pace is more critical in the Premiership than in any other major league and if you don't have pace, you have to compensate with power or ability in the air and since Shevchenko has no power and is not particularly good in the air, he is in trouble. ~ Alan Hansen
Manchester United quotes by Alan Hansen
Football is the poetry of a motion. ~ Pubudu Lasal Dissanayake
Manchester United quotes by Pubudu Lasal Dissanayake
Let's be honest. We're not Manchester United or Arsenal, are we? ~ Paolo Di Canio
Manchester United quotes by Paolo Di Canio
What does it mean when someone supports Manchester United or whatever it's called?"
...
"They always win. So they've started believing they deserve to. ~ Fredrik Backman
Manchester United quotes by Fredrik Backman
He once thought that Manchester United were a band because I've mentioned that they had Giggs. ~ Abdullah Abu Snaineh
Manchester United quotes by Abdullah Abu Snaineh
I've turned down Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Manchester United to play here. I hope everyone already knows how much it means to me to play for Newcastle United. ~ Alan Shearer
Manchester United quotes by Alan Shearer
The eccentric passion of Shankly was underlined for me by my England team-mate Roger Hunt's version of the classic tale of the Liverpool manager's pre-game talk before playing Manchester United. The story has probably been told a thousand times in and out of football, and each time you hear it there are different details, but when Roger told it the occasion was still fresh in his mind and I've always believed it to be the definitive account. It was later on the same day, as Roger and I travelled together to report for England duty, after we had played our bruising match at Anfield. Ian St John had scored the winner, then squared up to Denis Law, with Nobby finally sealing the mood of the afternoon by giving the Kop the 'V' sign. After settling down in our railway carriage, Roger said, 'You may have lost today, but you would have been pleased with yourself before the game. Shanks mentioned you in the team talk. When he says anything positive about the opposition, normally he never singles out players.' According to Roger, Shankly burst into the dressing room in his usual aggressive style and said, 'We're playing Manchester United this afternoon, and really it's an insult that we have to let them on to our field because we are superior to them in every department, but they are in the league so I suppose we have to play them. In goal Dunne is hopeless- he never knows where he is going. At right back Brennan is a straw- any wind will blow him over. Foulkes the centre half kicks t ~ Bobby Charlton
Manchester United quotes by Bobby Charlton
The best illustration I can give of his talent is that at Manchester United there was always a possession drill in training designed to develop our passing ability, which might be three players against another three players, or six versus six, or nine versus nine. But no matter what the numbers were, the side with Paul Scholes on their team would always win by keeping the most possession. ~ Gary Neville
Manchester United quotes by Gary Neville
Manchester United will be hoping their bench can come off the bench ~ Ray Parlour
Manchester United quotes by Ray Parlour
Heads up lads!" someone shouted. "Here we go!"

More missiles, this time not just bottles, but coins as well. And then from the other side of the cordon, a roar went up. Bellowing across the road toward them.

Billy watched as the Manchester lads poured forward, desperately trying to force a way through the massed ranks of the police only to be driven back by batons and gloved fists.

Another salvo of bottles came flying across, trying to provoke a reaction. But the West Ham lads merely stood and laughed. They didn't need to respond. The point had been made, the result earned.

Billy was happy. Very happy. ~ Dougie Brimson
Manchester United quotes by Dougie Brimson
One of my dreams is to become sufficiently famous that I can play this charity match that happens every year or two with celebrities at Old Trafford, at the house of Manchester United. ~ Demian Bichir
Manchester United quotes by Demian Bichir
Manchester United are substituting Blomqvist for Giggs just to bring more legs into the game. ~ Tony Gale
Manchester United quotes by Tony Gale
I have always considered myself to be very fortunate. To play for the biggest club in the world, which also happens to be the team I supported as a boy, means I have never had to consider changing away from Manchester United. ~ Ryan Giggs
Manchester United quotes by Ryan Giggs
I'm not at Manchester United to keep everyone happy. ~ Roy Keane
Manchester United quotes by Roy Keane
Manchester United is stronger than anybody in the world. ~ Eric Cantona
Manchester United quotes by Eric Cantona
Two of my boys are Manchester United fans; one is an Arsenal fan. Whenever there is a game I can take the boys to, I love taking them. ~ David Beckham
Manchester United quotes by David Beckham
I want to help Manchester United win the Premier League and become the best player in the world. ~ Adnan
Manchester United quotes by Adnan
All I can do is assess the value from Manchester United perspective. Whatever Chelsea do, they may have a different criteria, and different financial assets. ~ David Gill
Manchester United quotes by David Gill
Manchester United would have retained the Premiership if they'd won this game – or, of course, if they'd won any of the other games they drew during the course of the season. Or, seeing as one extra point would have done the trick, if they'd drawn any of the games they lost, especially the two against Manchester City. Or, seeing as they lost the trophy on goal difference, if their victories had been achieved with a bigger winning margin. ~ Nick Hornby
Manchester United quotes by Nick Hornby
All I do know is that I'll never be able to achieve what Tommy Docherty did, and that is take Aston Villa into the third division and Manchester United into the second division ~ Ron Atkinson
Manchester United quotes by Ron Atkinson
Manchester United might not win Premier League every year, but we'd always be up there competing for it every year. ~ Alex Ferguson
Manchester United quotes by Alex Ferguson
A lot of them want to come and play for Manchester United. They want to play because Alex has a record of giving youth a chance and we have the history and heritage of Manchester United. ~ David Gill
Manchester United quotes by David Gill
Winning the Ballon d'Or never bothered me. I just wanted to play for Manchester United. ~ Paul Scholes
Manchester United quotes by Paul Scholes
Manchester United have risen to the pinnacle of the English game at a time when the rewards are so high - thanks to the ticket to the Champions League - that they have resources that only a handful of other sides, through merit or the exploitation of the people of Russia, can approach. ~ Phil Cornwell
Manchester United quotes by Phil Cornwell
In all modesty, my summing up of 1955-6 and 1956-7 must be that no club in the country could live with Manchester United. ~ Matt Busby
Manchester United quotes by Matt Busby
United could soon overtake Arsenal as the chief threat to Chelsea, and defiant Keane vowed: We will keep fighting to the end. We are Manchester United, that is what we do. ~ Roy Keane
Manchester United quotes by Roy Keane
Defending the United States was important and there were few higher honours, yet ... was it worth making such a commitment when one's political leaders were worse than the enemy? ~ Christopher G. Nuttall
Manchester United quotes by Christopher G. Nuttall
I agree with Peter Drucker that the culture and legal systems of the United Statesare especially favorable to shareholder interests, compared to other interests and compared to most other countries. Indeed, there are many other countries where any good going to public shareholders has a very low priority and almost every other constituency stands higher in line. ~ Charlie Munger
Manchester United quotes by Charlie Munger
Miracles are like stones: they are everywhere, offering up their beauty, but hardly anyone concedes value to them. We live in a reality where prodigies abound but are seen only by those who have developed their perception of them. Without this perception everything is banal, marvelous events are seen as chance, and one progresses through life without possessing the key that is gratitude. When something extraordinary happens it is seen as a natural phenomenon that we can exploit like parasites, without giving anything in return. But miracles require an exchange; I must make that which is given to me bear fruit for others. If one is not united with oneself, the wonder cannot be captured. Miracles are never performed or provoked: they are discovered. If someone who believes himself to be blind takes off his dark glasses, he will see the light. That darkness is the prison of the rational. ~ Alejandro Jodorowsky
Manchester United quotes by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Everyone has the right to the protection of the moral and material interests resulting from any scientific, literary or artistic production of which he is the author. ~ United Nations
Manchester United quotes by United Nations
What idea have the south-country people of the Tyne? The truth is any object nearly 300 miles distant is not only entirely out of range of metropolitan sympathy, but pretty nearly out of the confines of metropolitan knowledge. To thousands and thousands the tune is barley a sound; it conveys no ideas. ~ Paul Brown
Manchester United quotes by Paul Brown
Since 1981, after our nations severed diplomatic relations, we've worked through a international tribunal to resolve various claims between our countries. The United States and Iran are now settling a long-standing Iranian government claim against the United States government. Iran will be returned its own funds, including appropriate interest but much less than the amount Iran sought. With your nuclear deal done, prisoners released, the time was right to resolve this dispute as well. ~ Barack Obama
Manchester United quotes by Barack Obama
Jodi Byrd writes: "The story of the new world is horror, the story of America a crime." It is necessary, she argues, to start with the origin of the United States as a settler-state and its explicit intention to occupy the continent. These origins contain the historical seeds of genocide. Any true history of the United States must focus on what has happened to (and with) Indigenous peoples - and what still happens. ~ Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
Manchester United quotes by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
As an athlete, I've always been very proud to represent the United States. ~ Michelle Kwan
Manchester United quotes by Michelle Kwan
The reality is that the United States military alone cannot be all things to all nations. We will sharpen the application of our resources, better deploy our forces in the world and share our burdens more and more effectively with our partners. And frankly, all our allies need to do the same. ~ Leon Panetta
Manchester United quotes by Leon Panetta
Since 2000, no important technology innovation in the United States has been scaled up to create millions of manufacturing, marketing, and engineering jobs here, as personal computers and related industries did. While selling online and social networking are clearly transformational movements that have created entrepreneurial opportunities, fewer than fifty thousand traditional jobs - those with full-time hours, benefits, and health insurance - have been created. ~ Doug Menuez
Manchester United quotes by Doug Menuez
I care so passionately about improving the quality of life for women and girls, not just here in the United States, but internationally as well. I am a single mom and I raised a daughter who is now a young adult. ~ Valerie Jarrett
Manchester United quotes by Valerie Jarrett
Occasionally he stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened. ~ William Manchester
Manchester United quotes by William Manchester
To be sure, the United States has profound problems, not least our faltering educational and physical infrastructure. ~ Eric Liu
Manchester United quotes by Eric Liu
309Knee-high by the Fourth of July. So it must be June. Every farmhouse in its cloud of trees. There is a way trees stir before a rain, as if they already felt the heaviness. It all just went on and on, the United States of America. It was so easy to forget that most of the world was cornfields. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Manchester United quotes by Marilynne Robinson
The focus, to my mind, is to make sure that Donald Trump does not become president of the United States. I think by temperament he is unqualified to be president. I think his views - you have a guy who's running for president who rejects science, doesn't even believe climate change is real, let alone wants to do something about it, wants to give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the top two-tenths of one percent. ~ Bernie Sanders
Manchester United quotes by Bernie Sanders
As they left, Anglican vicars in the area pinned a notice from their bishop to the front doors of their evacuated churches. Addressed to "our United States allies," the notice read in part: "This church has stood for several hundred years. Around it has grown a community which has lived in these houses and tilled these fields ever since there was a church. This church, this churchyard in which their loved ones lie at rest; these homes, these fields are as dear to those who have left them as are the homes and graves which you, our Allied, have left behind you. They hope to return one day, as you hope to return to yours, to find them waiting to welcome them home. ~ Lynne Olson
Manchester United quotes by Lynne Olson
I hate the phrase "One thing led to another". What kind of lazy writing is that? Isn't it your job as a writer to tell me how that made this happen? "Adolf Hitler was rejected as a young man in his application to an art school. One thing led to anotherand the United States ended up dropping two atomic bombs on the sovereign nation of Japan". ~ Brian Regan
Manchester United quotes by Brian Regan
I have called this phenomenon of stealing common knowledge and indigenous science "biopiracy" and "intellectual piracy." According to patent systems we shouldn't be able to patent what exists as "prior art." But the United States patent system is somewhat perverted. First of all, it does not treat the prior art of other societies as "prior art." Therefore anyone from the United States can travel to another country, find out about the use of a medicinal plant, or find a seed that farmers use, come back here, claim it as an invention or an innovation. ~ Vandana Shiva
Manchester United quotes by Vandana Shiva
