If you spend enough time reading or writing, you find a voice, but you also find certain tastes. You find certain writers who when they write, it makes your own brain voice like a tuning fork, and you just resonate with them. And when that happens, reading those writers - not all of whom are modern ... I mean, if you are willing to make allowances for the way English has changed, you can go way, way back with this - becomes a source of unbelievable joy. It's like eating candy for the soul. So probably the smart thing to say is that lucky people develop a relationship with a certain kind of art that becomes spiritual, almost religious, and doesn't mean, you know, church stuff, but it means you're just never the same. ~ David Foster Wallace
Lucky People quotes by David Foster Wallace
WELCOME TO LUCKY HARBOR! Home to 2,100 lucky people And 10,100 shellfish ~ Jill Shalvis
Lucky People quotes by Jill Shalvis
Listen to me. They may control what you do, but no one can pee on your soul without your permission. ~ A.S. King
Lucky People quotes by A.S. King
Oh yeah, I'm the president of the lucky club. There are so many talented people who don't work. And the crop of young actors I'm surrounded by is incredible. When you have people like that around you it amps you up a little bit. Also, Emile Hirsch and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or guys like Ryan Gosling. It's a really good crowd and I feel I'm coming up at a good time. But equally, there's a lot of good young actors who don't get to work who are more talented than I. I'm just lucky. ~ Shia Labeouf
Lucky People quotes by Shia Labeouf
Don't be confused by what looks like luck to you. Lucky people don't make successful people; people who completely commit themselves to success seem to get lucky in life. ~ Grant Cardone
Lucky People quotes by Grant Cardone
Nature is so lucky. People can look at it and think nothing. No one analyzes it. No one blames it. No one underestimates it. Most people respect it. When we look at an ocean after an oil spill, we don't smirk and say, "Well, look at this shithole you are now!" We pity it. We wish it hadn't happened. We hope it gets better and that the fish who live there don't die or grow babies who have two heads. Maybe if we all saw ourselves as nature, we'd be kinder. ~ A.S. King
Lucky People quotes by A.S. King
Lucky people should hide. Pray the days of wrath do not visit their home. ~ Josephine Hart
Lucky People quotes by Josephine Hart
The process which, if not checked, will abolish Man goes on apace among Communists and Democrats no less than among Fascists. The methods may (at first) differ in brutality. But many a mild-eyed scientist in pince-nez, many a popular dramatist, many an amateur philosopher in our midst, means in the long run just the same as the Nazi rulers of Germany: 'Traditional values are to be debunked' and mankind to be cut out into some fresh shape at the will (which must, by hypothesis, be an arbitrary will) of some few lucky people in one lucky generation which has learned how to do it. ~ C.S. Lewis
Lucky People quotes by C.S. Lewis
Habitually creative people are prepared to be lucky. ~ E.B. White
Lucky People quotes by E.B. White
Any time you're lucky enough to get on a show people watch, it's a good thing. ~ Chris Hardwick
Lucky People quotes by Chris Hardwick
I am only a physicist with nothing material to show for my labours. I have never even seen the ionosphere, although I have worked on the subject for thirty years. That does show how lucky people can be. If there had been no ionosphere I would not have been standing here this morning. ~ Edward Victor Appleton
Lucky People quotes by Edward Victor Appleton
But when I look at myself squarely, it's not just that I have a few difficulties or unresolved issues. Unlike those lucky people for whom therapy or medication delivers them back to themselves, I've been suffering from something that was unnamable for most of my life. Yes, I've had periods of relative stability, but the whole concept of "recovery" brings up some painful questions. What do I recover? With drug addiction, you hear that you can recover and reclaim your former self, the person you were before you started using. With other psychiatric illnesses, getting rid of symptoms means you're more or less back to "yourself." But what if you simply don't have a solid self to return to - if the way you are is seen as basically broken? And what if you can't conceive of "normal" or "healthy" because pain and loneliness are all you remember? "You were such a happy child," my mother says. But I don't remember that. So what do I recover? ~ Kiera Van Gelder
Lucky People quotes by Kiera Van Gelder
I'm as lucky as a bed of oysters on cioppino night. ~ Nenia Campbell
Lucky People quotes by Nenia Campbell
When you realize who the good people are in your life, you're so lucky. ~ Sophia Bush
Lucky People quotes by Sophia Bush
I watched Leo and I realized that he also knew how it felt to be different. To want big things in a very small town. To get made fun of. He wasn't as different as I was. But he also wasn't one of those lucky people who fit in all the time. And I thought of the first time I worked with him, what I'd seen. He did like the world - that was the thing about him that I liked the best - but the world didn't always like him back. ~ Ally Condie
Lucky People quotes by Ally Condie
I know there is a true and scientific explanation of where he wind comes from. But I like to think it happens when clouds shrug their shoulders. When stars spin hard enough for a few lucky people on earth to get caught up in their cosmic whirl. Sometimes wind just feels like weather. But sometimes it feels special, like it's carrying something with it" -Emma ~ Natalie Lloyd
Lucky People quotes by Natalie Lloyd
I'm one of those very lucky people who absolutely love what they do for a living. There is no career better suited to my eccentricities, strengths, and passions than that of a children's book author. ~ Mary Pope Osborne
Lucky People quotes by Mary Pope Osborne
Those people who have got wisdom are very lucky people, but wisdom comes from no source but your own understanding of life. When a person starts thinking, "Why am I doing such and such thing ? What is the effect of my doing ? What is the result of my behaviour ? Is it good for me or bad for me ? " , then wisdom comes. ~ Nirmala Srivastava
Lucky People quotes by Nirmala Srivastava
Lost people are lucky people because there are no roads to some wonderful places, only those who are lost can find such places! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Lucky People quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Lucky people create, notice, and act upon the chance opportunities in their lives. ~ Richard Wiseman
Lucky People quotes by Richard Wiseman
If this fame, which people call my lucky break, were to stop tomorrow, I shouldn't care. ~ Brigitte Bardot
Lucky People quotes by Brigitte Bardot
I feel as if there's a huge gulf separating me from all the lucky people in the world; they have so much to look forward to. ~ Ruth Reichl
Lucky People quotes by Ruth Reichl
Wiseman has identified four principles that characterize lucky people. Lucky people tend to maximize chance opportunities. ~ Ken Robinson
Lucky People quotes by Ken Robinson
Dear friends, do you know that you are lucky people? You don't have any cows to lose. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Lucky People quotes by Thich Nhat Hanh
You can't do science in a novel, but you can do philosophy. Or, if you're really lucky, you can manage to pose a question in such a way that other people will take it on. ~ Scarlett Thomas
Lucky People quotes by Scarlett Thomas
Lucky is the one who misses the wrong train! ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
Lucky People quotes by Mehmet Murat Ildan
Wiseman speculated that what we call luck is actually a pattern of behaviors that coincide with a style of understanding and interacting with the events and people you encounter throughout life. Unlucky people are narrowly focused, he observed. They crave security and tend to be more anxious, and instead of wading into the sea of random chance open to what may come, they remain fixated on controlling the situation, on seeking a specific goal. As a result, they miss out on the thousands of opportunities that may float by. Lucky people tend to constantly change routines and seek out new experiences. Wiseman saw that the people who considered themselves lucky, and who then did actually demonstrate luck was on their side over the course of a decade, tended to place themselves into situations where anything could happen more often and thus exposed themselves to more random chance than did unlucky people. The lucky try more things, and fail more often, but when they fail they shrug it off and try something else. Occasionally, things work out. ~ David McRaney
Lucky People quotes by David McRaney
I would be happy if they just gave out nominations and there weren't any Oscars. But winning them is definitely an experience - to get up there and make a speech. Every film is hard work, and a few lucky people do get Oscars for what they do, and it's recognition for all that hard work on a certain level. ~ Walter Murch
Lucky People quotes by Walter Murch
Every film is hard work, and a few lucky people do get Oscars for what they do, and it's recognition for all that hard work on a certain level. If you didn't do the hard work, you wouldn't be standing there. On the other hand, people do a lot of hard work and don't get Oscars, so it's a mixture of glory and injustice at the same time. ~ Walter Murch
Lucky People quotes by Walter Murch
Unlucky people are stuck in routines. When they see something new, they want no part of it. Lucky people always want something new. They're prepared to take risks and relaxed enough to see the opportunities in the first place. ~ Richard Wiseman
Lucky People quotes by Richard Wiseman
Unlucky people miss chance opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. They go to parties intent on finding their perfect partner, and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through the newspaper determined to find certain job advertisements and, as a result, miss other types of jobs. Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there, rather than just what they are looking for. ~ Richard Wiseman
Lucky People quotes by Richard Wiseman
We're very lucky people, doing something that we really love to do. I feel privileged to have been an actor all my life. ~ Dick Van Patten
Lucky People quotes by Dick Van Patten
The air of Paris is quite different from any other. There's something about it which thrills and excites and intoxicates you, and in some strange way makes you want to dance and do all sorts of other silly things. As soon as I get out of the train, it's just as if I had drunk a bottle of champagne. What a time one could have surrounded by artists! How happy those lucky people must be, the great men who have made a name in a city like Paris! What a wonderful life they have! ~ Guy De Maupassant
Lucky People quotes by Guy De Maupassant
If you ask people (as I often do) how they make decisions, 'lucky' people will talk about tuning in to information and instincts, while 'unlucky' people often mention pushing away the uncomfortable feeling they were headed for trouble. ~ Martha Beck
Lucky People quotes by Martha Beck
In effect, 'lucky' people are lucky because they expose themselves to more opportunities by being willing to do new things, meet new people or ~ Ashwin Sanghi
Lucky People quotes by Ashwin Sanghi
Some lucky people can be funny without half trying because they actually look funny, because acting funny is in their bones - fun as funny, not funny as crude slapstick. ~ F. Sionil Jose
Lucky People quotes by F. Sionil Jose
Kind of," I said, "still, think about this. Everyone's built the same. It's like we're all riding together on a broken airplane. Of course there are lucky people, there are also unlucky people. There're tough people, and weak people, rich people, and poor people. However, not a single person's broken the mold with his toughness. We're all the same. Everyone who has something is afraid of losing it, and people with nothing are worried they'll forever have nothing. Everyone is the same. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll want to get stronger. Even if you're just pretending. Don't you think? ~ Haruki Murakami
Lucky People quotes by Haruki Murakami
I'm one of the lucky people that, my job is my passion, is my hobby. I hope this doesn't sound arrogant: I truly feel that this is what I'm meant to do, to swim and to talk about protecting the environment, my two passions. ~ Lewis Pugh
Lucky People quotes by Lewis Pugh
I'm lucky; people write scripts for me. ~ Catherine Deneuve
Lucky People quotes by Catherine Deneuve
the harder it is to say goobye to sombody, the luckier u are to have met sombody ur going to miss ~ Jomny Sun
Lucky People quotes by Jomny Sun
I've been lucky to work with people that I like most of the time. If I don't like them, I'll play head games with them to get their minds spinning. ~ Vince Vaughn
Lucky People quotes by Vince Vaughn
There are some lucky people who feel they experience happiness when they gaze at a cloud or walk on the beach but the rest of us only get that special tingly buzz when we've bought, won, achieved, hooked or booked something. Then our own brains give us a hit of dopamine, which makes us feel good. We don't need substances; we are our own drug dealers. The ~ Ruby Wax
Lucky People quotes by Ruby Wax
Two people who share a secret no one else knows because no one else understands the way it is between us when our clothes are off and her breath is my breath and there are no more questions, just answers, and every single one is her name. ~ Lili Valente
Lucky People quotes by Lili Valente
People who know me, they know I have a sense of humor, I'm a bit of a joker, a bit of a clown really, and I would love someone to exploit that side of me and send me a romantic comedy. ~ Gary Oldman
Lucky People quotes by Gary Oldman
Let us do our best whilst we live for another tomorrow is coming when whilst we are long gone, another group of people shall come to either suffer from our worst or enjoy and build upon our best. Let us run whole heatedly today with all alacrity for another generation shall come for the baton from our hands to either blame us or congratulate us on how we lived the dream and journeyed in life through the good and the bad times; another generation shall come to ponder over our footprints as a good or a bad lesson for them! Let us run with all necessary zeal such that when we hand over the baton, our next generation will have no reason but to soldier on with courage, enthusiasm and absolute commitment to get to the finishing line with a great accomplishment and a noble story worth pondering over and over! ~ Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Lucky People quotes by Ernest Agyemang Yeboah
Kerry was walking with Jesus now. I could see my mom getting red when he said that, and I started to get a little worried that she might say something. We went to church sometimes, so it's not like Mom had anything against religion, but Kerry totally did and Mom was ferociously protective of the people she loved, so much that she took insults upon them personally. Her friends sometimes called her Mama Bear for this reason. ~ Gayle Forman
Lucky People quotes by Gayle Forman
A dreamer who does not build his dream will eventually be employed by other people to build their dreams. ~ Keolebogile Moocha
Lucky People quotes by Keolebogile Moocha
If you have a problem with someone you have to go after them, and it's not necessarily to teach that person a lesson, it's to teach all the people that are watching a lesson that you don't take crap, and if you do take crap, you're just not going to well ~ Donald Trump
Lucky People quotes by Donald Trump
We may think God wants actions of a certain kind, but God wants people of a certain kind. ~ C.S. Lewis
Lucky People quotes by C.S. Lewis
Religious people should always be wary of the ways in which political power is wielded and skeptical of how economic privileges are distributed. They should also be mindful of how their own traditions have been used for narrow political purposes, and how some religious figures have manipulated the faith to aggrandize their own power. The doctrine of original sin and the idea of a fallen side of human nature apply to people who are religious no less than those who are not. ~ E.J. Dionne Jr.
Lucky People quotes by E.J. Dionne Jr.
I like people in general, which is why it's fun for me to interact with my fans. ~ James Maslow
Lucky People quotes by James Maslow
People say my ego is grand. I think it's in proportion to me. ~ Wilt Chamberlain
Lucky People quotes by Wilt Chamberlain

Lucky People quotes by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
History is formed by the people, those who have power and those without power. Each one of us makes history. ~ Anselm Kiefer
Lucky People quotes by Anselm Kiefer
Obviously no one wants to give members of Congress a lot of money, because they barely do anything, and many of them are terrible, but a Congress that is made up of rich-but-not-super-rich people is going to be more corruptible than a Congress of really rich people. ~ Alex Pareene
Lucky People quotes by Alex Pareene
Every now and then, i worry about people in the third world countries. and then i figure if they all started having sex, their lives would be considerably brighter. ~ Jodi Picoult
Lucky People quotes by Jodi Picoult

Lucky People quotes by Mark Victor Hansen
Anna's words from long ago came back to him. We are all beautiful but broken people. Jesus forgives us, even when we don't deserve it. That's a pretty good reason to be forgiving. ~ Elizabeth Camden
Lucky People quotes by Elizabeth Camden
The practice of an offbeat and sometimes bizarre lifestyle, often in the camaraderie of compatible people was incredibly romantic in the 19th century when authors, artists and entertainers lived in the low-class, substandard Gypsy ghettos of Western Europe and were often regarded as nothing more than vagabonds, globetrotters, opportunists, con artists and charlatans. They also practiced an open sexual liberation regarded at the time as quite a new morality. ~ Karl Wiggins
Lucky People quotes by Karl Wiggins
If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with him ... the people who give you their food give you their heart. ~ Cesar Chavez
Lucky People quotes by Cesar Chavez
They keep telling me the coolest people are crazy - so I'm not worried. ~ Zanib Mian
Lucky People quotes by Zanib Mian
Many critics complain that the criminal justice system is heavy-handed and unfair to minorities. We hear a great deal about capital punishment, excessively punitive drug laws, supposed misuse of eyewitness evidence, troublingly high levels of black male incarceration, and so forth.
So to assert that black Americans suffer from too little application of the law, not too much, seems at odds with common perception. But the perceived harshness of American criminal justice and its fundamental weakness are in reality two sides of a coin, the former a kind of poor compensation for the latter. Like the schoolyard bully, our criminal justice system harasses people on small pretexts but is exposed as a coward before murder. It hauls masses of black men through its machinery but fails to protect them from bodily injury and death. It is at once oppressive and inadequate. ~ Jill Leovy
Lucky People quotes by Jill Leovy
Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. ~ Keith Haring
Lucky People quotes by Keith Haring
I guess people are right when they say that time helps grief. I don't agree that it heals, but maybe it wraps our losses up deeper and deeper inside so we can get on with being alive. ~ Jodi Lynn Anderson
Lucky People quotes by Jodi Lynn Anderson
When criticism doesn't make sense, it is usually coming from a different place. ~ Shannon L. Alder
Lucky People quotes by Shannon L. Alder
The capitalist culture of consumption ... does not provide meaningful sustenance for large numbers of people. ~ Cornel West
Lucky People quotes by Cornel West
I continually marvel at people who can make films that reach five hundred million people. How do you do that? Everybody's different - I don't know how that works. ~ James Gray
Lucky People quotes by James Gray
You know, the people who do indie film and decide who gets those little budgets? They're mean, man. They're cold and very cool-oriented. ~ Louis C.K.
Lucky People quotes by Louis C.K.
Anyone and everyone taking a writing class knows that the secret of good writing is to cut it back, pare it down, winnow, chop, hack, prune, and trim, remove every superfluous word, compress, compress, compress...

Actually, when you think about it, not many novels in the Spare tradition are terribly cheerful. Jokes you can usually pluck out whole, by the roots, so if you're doing some heavy-duty prose-weeding, they're the first to go. And there's some stuff about the whole winnowing process I just don't get. Why does it always stop when the work in question has been reduced to sixty or seventy thousand words--entirely coincidentally, I'm sure, the minimum length for a publishable novel? I'm sure you could get it down to twenty or thirty if you tried hard enough. In fact, why stop at twenty or thirty? Why write at all? Why not just jot the plot and a couple of themes down on the back of an envelope and leave it at that? The truth is, there's nothing very utilitarian about fiction or its creation, and I suspect that people are desperate to make it sound manly, back-breaking labor because it's such a wussy thing to do in the first place. The obsession with austerity is an attempt to compensate, to make writing resemble a real job, like farming, or logging. (It's also why people who work in advertising put in twenty-hour days.) Go on, young writers--treat yourself to a joke, or an adverb! Spoil yourself! Readers won't mind! ~ Nick Hornby
Lucky People quotes by Nick Hornby
All I know is that right now I wanna rip your clothes off right here in the middle of this hall and throw you in one of these classrooms and kiss every square inch of your body, while a bunch of people who drive minivans listen wishing they were us. ~ L.J.Smith
Lucky People quotes by L.J.Smith
I have good idea, for if you meet some person from different religion and he want to make argument about God. My idea is, you listen to everything this man say about God. Never argue about God with him. Best thing to say is, 'I agree with you.' Then you go home, pray what you want. This is my idea for people to have peace about religion. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
Lucky People quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert
The public always prefers to be reassured. There are those whose job this is. There are only too many. ~ Andre Gide
Lucky People quotes by Andre Gide
It makes me so mad that some people underestimate the wisdom and energy of young people. All because they don't look the way older folks think they should look. I'm working on a song about it. Maybe some of those closed minded people will realize long hair and tattoos don't mean they should be ignored. Close minded people are part of what's wrong with this world. ~ Johnny Cash
Lucky People quotes by Johnny Cash
The Lord of the Rings has been read by many people since it finally appeared in print; and I should like to say something here with reference to the many opinions or guesses that I have received or have read concerning the motives and meaning of the tale. The prime motive was the desire of a tale-teller to try his hand at a really long story that would hold the attention of readers, amuse them, delight them, and at times maybe excite them or deeply move them. As a guide I had only my own feelings for what is appealing or moving, and for many the guide was inevitably often at fault. Some ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Lucky People quotes by J.R.R. Tolkien
Next time, involve me in what you're planning. How had I gone so easily from feeling excluded to doing the excluding? Did I dislike the reminder that I hadn't always been on the inside looking out? Was I so relieved to be there that I didn't notice the people who still wanted desperately to be invited in? Had I learned that the only way to be part of a society was to shun its outcasts? ~ Joel Derfner
Lucky People quotes by Joel Derfner
Years ago I used to commiserate with all people who suffered. Now I commiserate only with those who suffer in ignorance, who do not understand the purpose and ultimate utility of pain ~ Bill W.
Lucky People quotes by Bill W.
We must, therefore, coolly and objectively adopt the standpoint that it can certainly not be the intention of Heaven to give one people fifty times as much land and soil in this world as another. ~ Adolf Hitler
Lucky People quotes by Adolf Hitler
All the people in the Kuo-ch'ing monastery They say, "Han-shan is an idiot." "Am I really an idiot:" I reflect. But my reflections fail to solve the question: for I myself do not know who the self is, And how can others know who I am? ~ Hanshan
Lucky People quotes by Hanshan
These are people whose names are lost to history, but when you have that kind of encounter, somehow you get a whole new perspective on what's of value and how to behave in the face of oppression, and the strength that any single person or a group of people can bring with their own will. ~ Clara Bingham
Lucky People quotes by Clara Bingham
You're wrong, you know," Susan said. "She doesn't belong here. I'm against the death penalty. I don't think the state should be in the business of killing people. I think it's wrong. And it's hypocritical. Mostly, I just think it's mean. Gretchen Lowell ? She is the exception. She deserves to die. If we kill one person, one criminal in the history of the world, it should be her." Susan paused, reconsidering. "And Hitler. Her, and Hitler". Prescott had that shrink look on his face again, passive and unimpressed, and yet somehow judgmental at the same time. Susan continued. "She removed a detective's spleen without anesthesia. She stuck a wire through an old woman's eyeball and then threaded it behind her nose and out through the other eye socket and then she stuck the wire into an outlet."
Prescott raised an eyebrow. "And you're arguing that she's sane? ~ Chelsea Cain
Lucky People quotes by Chelsea Cain
Never try to have too much of anything in life, just what you need and a little more. When you die, all you will take with you is what you have given to other people. ~ Arnost Fantl
Lucky People quotes by Arnost Fantl
The government of Puerto Rico has every right to hold a plebiscite, to consult the people of Puerto Rico regarding their wishes. But the truth is that for a change in the status of Puerto Rico to happen, you need both Congress and Puerto Rico agreeing to it. ~ Pedro Pierluisi
Lucky People quotes by Pedro Pierluisi
No one can make you happy other than yourself to choose people to make you happy. ~ Auliq Ice
