We climbed, he first and I behind, until though a small round opening ahead of us, I saw the lovely things the heavens hold, and we came out to see once more the stars. ~ Dante Alighieri
Lovely Things quotes by Dante Alighieri
Be not afraid to love.
Those who never love, do not know what love is. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
Lovely Things quotes by Lailah Gifty Akita
He loves me so he hurts me
To try and make me good.
It doesn't work. I'm just too bad
And don't do what I should.

My memory has so many different sections and, like all survivors, there are so many compartments with so many triggers. I'll remember a smell which reminds me of a man which reminds me of a place which reminds me of another man who I think was with a woman who had a certain smell - and I'm back to square one. This is the case for most survivors, I believe. When we try to put together our pasts, the triggers are many and varied, the memories are disjointed - and why wouldn't they be? We were children. Even someone with an idyllic childhood who is only trying to remember the lovely things which happened to them will scratch their head and wonder who gave them that doll and was it for Christmas or their third birthday? Did they have a party when they were four or five? When did they go on a plane for the first time? You see, even happy memories are hard to piece together - so imagine how hard it is to collate all of the trauma, to pull together all of the things I've been trying to push away for so many years. ~ Laurie Matthew
Lovely Things quotes by Laurie Matthew
As soon as you meet him [james Corden], within five minutes you'll want to sleep with him. He presented me with my award for Comedy Actress of the Year at the Glamour Awards and he said such lovely things. He's so charming and he listens to you and he's funny and sensitive and adorable. I can totally see why all the women fall for him. ~ Joanna Page
Lovely Things quotes by Joanna Page
You are more to me than any of them has any idea; you are the atmosphere of beauty through which I see life; you are the incarnation of all lovely things...I think of you day and night. ~ Letter to Lord Alfred 'Bosie' Douglas ~ Oscar Wilde
Lovely Things quotes by Oscar Wilde
You know, when you've worked with somebody before and you've worked very deeply and dangerously then you start with the relaxation and the trust right away and that lets you go even deeper, which is a lovely thing. ~ Kathleen Turner
Lovely Things quotes by Kathleen Turner
It's a long way back to sunset, a far way on to dawn, so you summon all the fool things of your life, the stupid lovely things done with people known so very well who are now so very dead... ~ Ray Bradbury
Lovely Things quotes by Ray Bradbury
My nan taught me never to put value on possessions but to value family, friends and people. I buy lovely things and enjoy them, but they don't rule me. ~ Rebecca Ferguson
Lovely Things quotes by Rebecca Ferguson
Wouldn't it be nice if roses could talk? I'm sure they could tell us such lovely things. ~ Lucy Maud Montgomery
Lovely Things quotes by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Love is always ready to deny itself, to give, sacrifice, just in the measure of its sincerity and intensity. Perfect love is perfect self-forgetfulness. Hence where there is love in a home, unselfishness is the law. Each forgets self and lives for others.

But where there is selfishness it mars joy. One selfish soul will destroy the sweetness of life in any home. It is like an ugly bush in the midst of a garden of flowers. It was selfishness that destroyed the first home and blighted all the loveliness of Paradise; and it has been blighting lovely things in earth's home ever since. We need to guard against this spirit. ~ J.R. Miller
Lovely Things quotes by J.R. Miller
In spring when maple buds are red,
We turn the clock an hour ahead;
Which means, each April that arrives,
We lose an hour out of our lives.
Who cares? When autumn birds in flocks
Fly southward, back we turn the clocks,
And so regain a lovely thing
That missing hour we lost in spring. ~ Phyllis McGinley
Lovely Things quotes by Phyllis McGinley
Somebody doing something effortlessly is a lovely thing to watch. ~ James Purefoy
Lovely Things quotes by James Purefoy
All lovely things will have an ending, All lovely things will fade and die; And youth, that's now so bravely spending, Will beg a penny by and by. ~ Conrad Aiken
Lovely Things quotes by Conrad Aiken
Henrietta, at heart a contemplative person, enjoyed alarums and excursions for a short while only. For her a background of quiet was essential to happiness. It had been fun to stay with Felicity, to be petted and spoiled by her friends, to be applauded by big audiences in a crowded theater, to have lovely things to eat and go to the zoo whenever she liked, but it had completely upset her equilibrium and she had felt as though she had been turned upside down so that everything that was worth while in her mind fell out. She, like everyone else, had to find out by experience in what mode of life she could best adjust herself to the twin facts of her own personality and the moment of time in which destiny had planted it, and she was lucky perhaps that she found out so early. ~ Elizabeth Goudge
Lovely Things quotes by Elizabeth Goudge
Amber May | 4 comments Stories that make me cry
Tale that give me wing to fly
What lovely things, what beautiful words
So carefully crafted to be as sharp as swords
A book for the old, A book for the new
And my darling a book of me,I wrote for you.
I think I might turn this into a quote, if don't mind.
For some unsuspecting reader to find. ~ Amber May
Lovely Things quotes by Amber May
They are a great essay in male friendship, which has gone now. Men's friendship has been debased. One of the lovely things about Holmes and Watson is that they do have this great platonic relationship. ~ Jeremy Brett
Lovely Things quotes by Jeremy Brett
So many old and lovely things are stored in the world's attic because we don't want them around us and we don't dare throw them out. ~ John Steinbeck
Lovely Things quotes by John Steinbeck
I'm into the law of attraction and quantum physics. Like cosmic ordering. It's all about thinking lovely things that you would like in life, and feeling good about them before they manifest, so that by the time they do, you don't want them because you're on to your next desire. ~ Julia Sawalha
Lovely Things quotes by Julia Sawalha
Live long enough and you'll come into pensions, a lovely thing. Presents every month from people you didn't know cared. ~ Ruth Gordon
Lovely Things quotes by Ruth Gordon
Xavier wasn't put on the earth to witness the bad htings like Jules and I were. He had been put here to notice lovely things, things that God had created and no one had any complaints about. Leaves turning red in the autumn. How when the tide goes out, the shells are left on the shore. I was put here - Jules and I were both put here - to see sadder things. We had to stand in the rain and explain why the world was a lovely place. ~ Heather O'Neill
Lovely Things quotes by Heather O'Neill
You want some sweet and lovely things, Tessa, but be careful. Other people can't always give you what you want. ~ Jenny Downham
Lovely Things quotes by Jenny Downham
He made you believe you'd have lovely things and live kinkily ever after, didn't he? ~ Kitty Thomas
Lovely Things quotes by Kitty Thomas
Death devours all lovely things;
Lesbia with her sparrow
Shares the darkness
presently
Every bed is narrow. ~ Edna St. Vincent Millay
Lovely Things quotes by Edna St. Vincent Millay
Hooded eyes shifted to me. "Marry me."
"I thought we were already engaged?" I asked, yawning.
"Don't say such lovely things, darling. I'll hold you to them. ~ Anne Zoelle
Lovely Things quotes by Anne Zoelle
Look for a lovely thing and you will find it, it is not far, it never will be far ~ Sara Teasdale
Lovely Things quotes by Sara Teasdale
It is a remarkable fact that the people who do things by hand still find time to add to their work some elaboration of mere beauty which makes it a joy to look on, while our machine-made tools, which could do so at much less cost, are too utilitarian to afford any ornament. It used to give me daily pleasure in Teheran to see the sacks in which refuse is carried off the streets woven with a blue and red decorative pattern: but can one imagine a borough council in Leeds or Birmingham expressing a delicate fancy of this kind? Beauty, according to these, is what one buys for the museum: pots and pans, taps and door-handles, though one has to look at them twenty times a day, have no call to be beautiful. So we impoverish our souls and keep our lovely things for rare occasions, even as our lovely thoughts - wasting the most of life in pondering domestic molehills or the Stock Exchange, among objects as ugly as the less attractive forms of sin. ~ Freya Stark
Lovely Things quotes by Freya Stark
That lovely things exist is a lovely thought. ~ Robert Walser
Lovely Things quotes by Robert Walser
there were lovely things in the world, lovely that didn't endure, and the lovelier for that... Nothing endures. ~ Lewis Grassic Gibbon
Lovely Things quotes by Lewis Grassic Gibbon
Do you think it is only a little thing to possess a house from which lovely things can be seen? ~ Saint Teresa Of Avila
Lovely Things quotes by Saint Teresa Of Avila
Painting is a fine art: not merely because it gives us trees and faces and lovely things to see, but because paint is a finely tuned antenna, reacting to very unnoticed movement of the painter's hand, fixing the faintest shadow of a thought in color and texture. ~ James Elkins
Lovely Things quotes by James Elkins
I cannot see the lovely things with my eyes, but my mind can see them all, and so I am joyful all the day long. ~ Helen Keller
Lovely Things quotes by Helen Keller
The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things. ~ Plato
Lovely Things quotes by Plato
The uncut sheets of colored glass are really seductive, awesome, and unarguably lovely things. Naturally, the temptation to cut and damage all that pristine beauty is too much for me to resist. ~ Judith Schaechter
Lovely Things quotes by Judith Schaechter
Perhaps the valediction for the European quartet should be left to Jan Garbarek: "People ask me very often what it was to play with Keith. There's really only one way to answer: every minute I was there on stage with him, it was absolutely fantastic! There was not one single concert or even rehearsal where he didn't play something that blew my mind away. It's amazing – I could just stand there listening to him on stage. Unfortunately, I had to play sometimes! … and I loved that trio with Keith and Palle and Jon… it was too much sometimes. They could do all these lovely things together – I didn't want to breal into that! It sounded so good! Jon is fantastic 0 a very natural player. It was just wonderful, the whole experience for me! ~ Ian Carr
Lovely Things quotes by Ian Carr
Do me the very great honor of becoming ... the person who'll cook me lovely things to eat, who'll cheer me up when I'm miserable, who'll tell me no and mean it ... ~ Barbara Elsborg
Lovely Things quotes by Barbara Elsborg
As the art of life is learned, it will be found at last that all lovely things are also necessary; a wild flower by the wayside, tended corn, wild birds and creatures of the forest, as well as the tended cattle; because man doth not live by bread only. ~ John Ruskin
Lovely Things quotes by John Ruskin
You always say such lovely things to me, Red. Do you say them to yourself? ~ Talia Hibbert
Lovely Things quotes by Talia Hibbert
Many ingenious lovely things are gone / That seemed sheer miracle to the multitude ... ~ William Butler Yeats
Lovely Things quotes by William Butler Yeats
The desperate things seem to require attention, the lovely things seem to elicit celebration. If I had to choose, I would go to the awful in the hope that doing something could yield a happier result. ~ Jenny Holzer
Lovely Things quotes by Jenny Holzer
Sleep - real sleep, the dear, the cherished one, the lullaby. So deep and warm the bed and the pillow enfolding me, letting me sink into peace, nothingness - my dreams now, after the catharsis of the dark hours, are of young and lovely people doing young, lovely things, the girls I knew once, with big brown eyes, real yellow hair. ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald
Lovely Things quotes by F. Scott Fitzgerald
If we have learned anything in the past ten years, it is that these lovely things about America were never lovely. We have been expansionist and aggressive and mean to other people from the beginning. And we've been aggressive and mean to people in this country, and we've allocated the wealth of this country in a very unjust way. We've never had justice in our courts for the poor people, for black people, for radicals. Now how can we boast that America is a very special place? It's not that special. It really isn't. ~ Howard Zinn
Lovely Things quotes by Howard Zinn
Dreams! in their vivid coloring of life,
As in that fleeting, shadowy, misty strife
Of semblance with reality, which brings
To the delirious eye, more lovely things
Of Paradise and Love- and all our own!
Than young Hope in his sunniest hour hath known. ~ Edgar Allan Poe
Lovely Things quotes by Edgar Allan Poe
A woman living in a grand house may pride herself on all her lovely things; but the moment she hears the crackle of fire she decides very quickly which are the few she values the most. ~ Arthur Golden
Lovely Things quotes by Arthur Golden
The scar, and her indifference to it, did something extraordinary for her, just as damage to some art object threw into relief how beautiful it had once been, tarnishing and tempering her face with the reminder of what humanity did to lovely things and how they bore it. ~ Ariana Franklin
Lovely Things quotes by Ariana Franklin
Yesterday's rain had left a bitter, springlike smell in the air; the vehemence that beat against her in the street and hummed above her had something a little wistful in it tonight, like a plaintive hand-organ tune. All the lovely things in the shop windows, the furs and jewels, roses and orchids, seemed to belong to her as she passed them. Not to have wrapped up and sent home, certainly; where would she put them? But they were hers to live among. ~ Willa Cather
Lovely Things quotes by Willa Cather
...I'd like to know what you want out of life."
"I don't know what I want anymore." I toyed with the delicate lace on my pillowcase, wishing that lovely things didn't have to be so fragile. ~ Anita Higman
Lovely Things quotes by Anita Higman
Death devours all lovely things. ~ Edna St. Vincent Millay
Lovely Things quotes by Edna St. Vincent Millay
There's this label called Neurotica by these sweet girls that have given me some lovely things to wear, and we might collaborate on making a little piece. They're really lovely, and I think they've been quite inspired by me in turn. ~ Bat For Lashes
Lovely Things quotes by Bat For Lashes
I love the Autumn,
And yet I cannot say
All the thoughts and things
That make me feel this way.

I love walking on the angry shore,
To watch the angry sea;
Where summer people were before,
But now there's only me.

I love wood fires at night
That have a ruddy glow.
I stare at the flames
And think of long ago.

I love the feeling down inside me
That says to run away
To come and be a gypsy
And laugh the gypsy way.

The tangy taste of apples,
The snowy mist at morn,
The wanderlust inside you
When you hear the huntsman's horn.

Nostalgia - that's the Autumn,
Dreaming through September
Just a million lovely things
I always will remember. ~ Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
Lovely Things quotes by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
Life hands us opportunities at every turn to get over ourselves, to get outside ourselves, to wake up from our own bad dreams and realize that really lovely things are happening all the time. ~ Shauna Niequist
Lovely Things quotes by Shauna Niequist
... got to give it all up, the pain, the hurt, the anger and make room for lovely things to rush in and fill you full. ~ Toni Cade Bambara
Lovely Things quotes by Toni Cade Bambara
Toil and risk are the price of glory, but it is a lovely thing to live with courage and die leaving an everlasting fame. ~ Alexander The Great
Lovely Things quotes by Alexander The Great
It was clear to me by now that studying Islam was one thing – and absolutely worthwhile, because it helped me grasp the meaning of the religion and how it all fitted together. However, I felt as though I was standing in front of a shop window full of lovely things, and all I could do was admire them from afar. I was still separated from them by the window, or, as Muslims might say, a veil. In order to lift this veil, there was only one way forward: to get down onto the prayer mat and start living according to Islamic principles. ~ Kristiane Backer
Lovely Things quotes by Kristiane Backer
In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created. You were with me, but I was not with you. Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you, they would have not been at all. ~ Saint Augustine
Lovely Things quotes by Saint Augustine
Why are scientists now using lawyers in laboratory experiments instead of rats? Three reasons: (1) lawyers are more plentiful than rats, (2) there is no danger the scientists will become attached to the lawyers, and (3) there are some things rats just won't do. ~ Gerry Spence
Lovely Things quotes by Gerry Spence
Because man is born a rebel, he is unaware that he is one. His constant assertion of self, as far as he thinks of it at all, appears to him a perfectly normal things. He is willing to share himself, sometimes even to sacrifice himself for a desired end, but never to dethrone himself. No matter how far down the scale of social acceptance he may slide, he is still in his own eyes a king on a throne, and no one, not even God, can take that throne from him. ~ A.W. Tozer
Lovely Things quotes by A.W. Tozer
Every time I've learned something, I've realized there are a hundred more things I don't know about the thing I just learned. ~ Don Cheadle
Lovely Things quotes by Don Cheadle
My mother used to dress me in quite good-taste clothes, and I really wanted things that were sparkly and spangly and trashy and nasty. I don't know if I ever chose fashion; it was just there in me. ~ Phoebe Philo
Lovely Things quotes by Phoebe Philo
My style icon actually is my three sisters. I love the way they dress and the way they put things together. I definitely get most of my style from them. ~ Kendall Jenner
Lovely Things quotes by Kendall Jenner
Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again. ~ Ronald Reagan
Lovely Things quotes by Ronald Reagan
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
They were all yellow

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow. ~ Coldplay
Lovely Things quotes by Coldplay
It's nice being offered a lot of interesting films and being asked to take part in things that are quite curious. If you hunt and keep looking, there are some wonderful things that come out. ~ Mark Rylance
Lovely Things quotes by Mark Rylance
But I need you to know that I'm all in with you. I'm giving you all of myself. I know I can be a real asshole, and I guarantee you that I'm going to fuck things up along the way. Possibly
in the next five minutes…" he says, smiling as his fingers brush against her cheek. "And I know I'll probably drive you up the fucking wall with
how protective I get over this baby and just mess all kinds of shit up so I wanna apologize in advance. ~ Madeleine Beckett
Lovely Things quotes by Madeleine Beckett
If I am to cherish anything to the fullest I must humbly embrace it as an undeserved 'privilege,' for to nonchalantly handle anything as other than a 'privilege' is to handle things of immense value and in the holding be entirely oblivious to what I'm holding. ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough
Lovely Things quotes by Craig D. Lounsbrough
A woman's past need not predict her future. She can dance to new music if she chooses. Her own music. To hear the tune, she must only stop talking. To herself, I mean. We're always trying to persuade ourselves of things." I ~ Lisa Wingate
Lovely Things quotes by Lisa Wingate
It is necessary to know ten thousand things by knowing one well. If you are to practice the way of strategy, nothing must escape your eyes.54 Reflect well on this. ~ Miyamoto Musashi
Lovely Things quotes by Miyamoto Musashi
No matter who you were in sixteenth-century Europe, you could be sure of two things: you would be lucky to reach fifty years of age, and you could expect a life of discomfort and pain. Old age tires the body by thirty-five, Erasmus lamented, but half the population did not live beyond the age of twenty. There were doctors and there was medicine, but there does not seem to have been a great deal of healing. Anyone who could afford to seek a doctor's aid did so eagerly, but the doctor was as likely to maim or kill as to cure. His potions were usually noxious and sometimes fatal - but they could not have been as terrible and traumatic as the contemporary surgical methods. The surgeon and the Inquisitor differed only in their motivation: otherwise, their batteries of knives, saws, and tongs for slicing, piercing, burning, and amputating were barely distinguishable. Without any anesthetic other than strong liquor, an operation was as bad as the torments of hell. ~ Philip Ball
Lovely Things quotes by Philip Ball
I think Bergman's films have eternal relevance, because they deal with the difficulty of personal relationships and lack of communication between people and religious aspirations and mortality, existential themes that will be relevant a thousand years from now. When many of the things that are successful and trendy today will have been long relegated to musty-looking antiques, his stuff will still be great. ~ Woody Allen
Lovely Things quotes by Woody Allen
You know, heroes are ordinary people that have achieved extraordinary things in life. ~ Dave Winfield
Lovely Things quotes by Dave Winfield
Such things as are good simply because they have been commanded or instituted, or as being symbols of something good, are mere shadows which cannot be reckoned among actions that are the offspring, as it were, or fruit of a sound mind and of intellect. ~ Baruch Spinoza
Lovely Things quotes by Baruch Spinoza
One should remain as a witness to whatever happens, adopting the attitude, 'Let whatever strange things that happens happen, let us see!' This should be one's practice. Nothing happens by accident in the divine scheme of things. ~ Ramana Maharshi
Lovely Things quotes by Ramana Maharshi
The breeze was calm and the sun beamed between the scattering clouds. Glancing across the rolling heather-covered landscape and toward the burn, he didn't see Remy or anyone else. "Twas too bad that the heather was not in bloom for the sight would have been lovely. Glancing up, he noticed something else. A giant double rainbow spanned across the horizon, one slightly dimmer than the other.
"Ah," he halted and turned in the saddle. "Have you ever seen such a bonny rainbow?"
Shona gasped. "Nay. 'Tis very bright."
Even lovelier, at least to Keegan, was Shona's smile as she took in the scenery. She was so beautiful, his chest ached. Yet, he knew not how he was going to keep her in his life so that he might see her smile every day. ~ Vonda Sinclair
Lovely Things quotes by Vonda Sinclair
I had been nervous about not doing well in college. During my first class, I looked at the notes the boy next to me was taking. His supply and demand curves seemed more neatly drawn than mine. Nearly everyone appeared to have gone to preparatory schools and already knew such odd things as the fact that there was no inflation during the Middle Ages. Very few, however, were willing to work the way I did.

When I would come out of Firestone Library at two in the morning, walk past the strange statues scattered around campus, and then sit at my desk in my room till the trees in the yard appeared out of the darkness, I felt that I was achieving something, that every hour I worked was generating almost physical value, as if I could touch the knowledge I was gaining through my work. One weekend, I came home to my parents and worked all Saturday night. In the morning, my mother saw me at my desk and brought me a glass of milk. Later, in Birju's room, she said to him, "Your brother can eat pain. He can sit all day at his desk and eat pain. ~ Akhil Sharma
Lovely Things quotes by Akhil Sharma
The things we go through, the trials and tribulations; they're there to test out faith. God is always with us, but he test out faith to see how much we believe in Him ~ Marcia M. Edwards
Lovely Things quotes by Marcia M. Edwards
People tell me this is obvious. But it's ok to be obvious. Knowing and doing are different. Many people know many obvious things they completely fail to do, despite their knowledge. ~ Scott Berkun
Lovely Things quotes by Scott Berkun
Everything that we believe in and count on is really in question right now. Our safety net, public education, housing, health care, so many things that are fundamental to a healthy democracy, are under attack. So I think, in general we've got a lot of work to do. ~ Ai-jen Poo
Lovely Things quotes by Ai-jen Poo
What I Value What's most satisfying to me: saving time, or money, or effort? Does it bother me to act differently from other people, or do I get a charge out of it? Do I spend a lot of time on something that's important to someone else, but not to me? If I had $500 that I had to spend on fun, how would I spend it? Do I like to listen to experts, or do I prefer to figure things out for myself? Does spending money on an activity make me feel more committed to it, or less committed? Would I be happy to see my children have the life I've had? ~ Gretchen Rubin
Lovely Things quotes by Gretchen Rubin
Beyond everything else, she loves this: how swiftly things can strike her - music, people, life - how quickly they can surprise her, all of a sudden, like a punch. ~ Nathan Hill
Lovely Things quotes by Nathan Hill
My biggest growth has been sitting with things that are uncomfortable and dealing with them. ~ Hilary Swank
Lovely Things quotes by Hilary Swank
The closer Finn`s island come to extinction, the more I wandered back in my mind to the lives that come before us, the huts and the houses, the remains of animals and clothing, the coins and the latrines and cooking pots, the messages from the past left in bones and kitchen dumps. And the people.
Sometimes I thought about the content of those lives, the intangible things that leave no fossils and no marks, no history. Would people from the future excavate traces of passion? Of hope, disappointment, despair? Or would the entire human race end up drowned and forgotten, buried under waves of melting ice, with no on left to dig us up or wonder at what was or what might have been? ~ Meg Rosoff
Lovely Things quotes by Meg Rosoff
The only things I make money on are speeches and books. ~ Brandon Stanton
Lovely Things quotes by Brandon Stanton
I was hedging. I had no idea about what would happen if I told him something about the future.
Like that Siena would face a plague within a few years. And that Florence would eventually rule them.
What would happen if I let such things slip? All sorts of time/space continuum stuff might come crashing down. Or maybe it wouldn't.
I should've watched more Star Trek as a kid. ~ Lisa Tawn Bergren
Lovely Things quotes by Lisa Tawn Bergren
Thank God for them all, of course, and for that strange interval, which was most of my life, when I read out of loneliness, and when bad company was much better than no company. You can love a bad book for its haplessness or pomposity or gall, if you have that starveling appetite for things human, which I devoutly hope you never will have. "The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. ~ Marilynne Robinson
Lovely Things quotes by Marilynne Robinson
All those things at which thou wishest to arrive by a circuitous road, thou canst have now, if thou dost not refuse them to thyself. ~ Marcus Aurelius
Lovely Things quotes by Marcus Aurelius
The most difficult thing is to know what we do know, and what we do not know. ~ P.D. Ouspensky
Lovely Things quotes by P.D. Ouspensky
The success of most things depends upon knowing how long it will take to succeed. ~ Montesquieu
Lovely Things quotes by Montesquieu
Lina liked going to the market plaza. It was always alive with people and animals, and the market had things she'd never seen before-sandals made of old truck tires, hats and baskets woven of straw. ~ Jeanne DuPrau
Lovely Things quotes by Jeanne DuPrau
Sleep, thou repose of all things; sleep, thou gentlest of the deities; thou peace of the mind, from which care flies; who doest soothe the hearts of men wearied with the toils of the day, and refittest them for labor. ~ Ovid
Lovely Things quotes by Ovid
One of the problems with computers, particularly for the older people, is they were befuddled by them, and the computers have gotten better. They have gotten easier to use. They have gotten less expensive. The software interfaces have made things a lot more accessible. ~ Steve Case
Lovely Things quotes by Steve Case
One book led to another; reading during my free time became a new fondness. Nonetheless, there was never much consideration of being a scholar when beginning to do so. The titles I was turning to seemed to speak directly to me, and soon the reviews became one of my favorite things to do. ~ Jessica Connor
Lovely Things quotes by Jessica Connor
Situations in life often permit no delay; and when we cannot determine the course which is certainly best, we must follow the one which is probably the best. This frame of mind freed me also from the repentance and remorse commonly felt by those vacillating individuals who are always seeking as worthwhile things which they later judge to be bad. ~ Rene Descartes
Lovely Things quotes by Rene Descartes
Sport's always a good thing - it's healthy, and it takes your mind off other things. ~ Cara Black
Lovely Things quotes by Cara Black
It is man's duty to live in conformity with the divine will, and this means, firstly, bringing his life into line with 'nature's laws', and secondly, resigning himself completely and uncomplainingly to whatever fate may send him. Only by living thus, and not setting too high a value on things which can at any moment be taken away from him, can he discover that true, unshakeable peace and contentment to which ambition, luxury and above all avarice are among the greatest obstacles. ~ Seneca The Younger
Lovely Things quotes by Seneca The Younger
A tiny crack of kindness that makes him all the more hateful, because if there's a version of him that feeds birds as winter descends, then there's a decency that he chose to overlook when he did other things. ~ Mindy McGinnis
Lovely Things quotes by Mindy McGinnis
a small few actually able to do those things of which men whisper - these few could call demons and the dead, could kill with a curse or heal with strange potions. One of these men had been a creature the gunslinger believed to be a demon himself, a creature that pretended to be a man and called itself Flagg. He had seen him only briefly, and that had been near the end, as chaos and the final crash approached his land. Hot on his heels had come two young men who looked desperate and yet grim, men named Dennis and Thomas. These three had crossed only a tiny part of what had been a confused and confusing time in the gunslinger's life, but he would never forget seeing Flagg change a man who had irritated him into a howling dog. He remembered that well enough. ~ Stephen King
Lovely Things quotes by Stephen King
Oh, it's awful! oh dear, oh dear! awful!" Stepan Arkadyevitch kept repeating to himself, and he could think of nothing to be done. "And how well things were going up till now! how well we got on! She was contented and happy in her children; I never interfered with her in anything; I let her manage the children and the house just as she liked. It's true it's bad HER having been a governess in our house. That's bad! There's something common, vulgar, in flirting with one's governess. But what a governess!" (He vividly recalled the roguish black eyes of Mlle. Roland and her smile.) "But after all, while she was in the house, I kept myself in hand. And the worst of it all is that she's already ... it seems as if ill-luck would have it so! Oh, oh! But what, what is to be done? ~ Leo Tolstoy
Lovely Things quotes by Leo Tolstoy
Critics can say horrible things. It only hurts when I agree with them. ~ Jon Cryer
Lovely Things quotes by Jon Cryer
But remember in tenth grade, when I wanted to go out with that junior and you said, 'Eh. I don't think she's the right girl for you'?"

"She wasn't."

"Because she was setting things on fire!" Ric announced loudly, making Gwen burst out laughing and Lock roll his eyes. "I'm serious, Gwen." Ric went on.
